I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

The BIOS password cannot be removed easily due to security reasons.

You will need to send the notebook to an Authorized Service Provider who use special tools to reset the password.

Hello,
i was wondering if someone could tell me why when reseting the bios password via jumpers on motherboard is it stated that 1 of the 2 memory sticks should be left in the FIRST slot (the one furthest from motherboard)?

I ask because the top/FIRST memory slot on the motherboard of my laptop (please see title) is broken.

Can I perform try to reset by leaving a memory stick in the second slot (closest to the motherboard)?

Many many thanks

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Comput...-UEFI-BIOS-or-HDD-hard-disk-drive/ta-p/407769
If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS
3. The procedure you appear to refer to, irrespective of where you found it is - I would think part of a suggested method when you do NOT know the password.
4. If that is the case, then one of the rules of this site is

Passwords - Please do not ask for assistance with (or ways to bypass) a forgotten or unknown password, personal identification number (PIN) or any other type of access code that may be required on a computer, mobile device or web site. As there is no way to verify the actual situation or intent, no assistance will be provided and any such threads will be closed.Click to expand...

5. Therefore I hope you will appreciate why we cannot assist if the presently set password is unknown.

Hi. Does anyone know how to reset the BIOS password for a Toshiba Satellite C660D 19X please? There are a number of very good YouTube videos for almost identical models, but they don't work on this one. The motherboard has changed a bit, and the reset jumpers don't seem to be in quite the same place, if they still exist. This video very nearly has the answer, but it's not quite right for the particular model variant I need:

I think it's very likely there is a similar answer to this problem - it just needs the right person to answer it. Thanks.

Answer:reset the BIOS password for a Toshiba Satellite C660D 19X

You want to reset it, or remove it? Once you enter the original password, there should be an option to do either, but I am not familiar with Toshiba's bios. But you will need the original password.

Laptop running Vista abruptly developed a password requirement - it was just a light blue screen with a box to input a password.  Everything I entered was wrong, and attempting to start the Satellite by tapping F8 or with a Vista disc brought up that same screen.I bit of internet investigation showed that Toshiba laptops can be prone to this behavior, and that there's not much to be done other than resetting the BIOS.  I started stripping down the laptop and got frustrated when I finally saw that the CMOS battery was soldered to the motherboard without a pin connection that could be unplugged.  I soldiered on and saw many webpages that instructed people with a method to short out the BIOS using a jumper.I unplugged the laptop, removed the battery, HDD, and memory, and used a pair of needle nose pliers to touch this area under the RAM while simultaneously touching a metal bar.  I plugged in the laptop and turned it on while continuing to make contact, holding it for about 30 seconds.I unplugged, reconnected the RAM, the HDD, the battery and the power cord, turned it on and was prepared to be amazed.Instead I got nothing.  No video at all.  The machine DID turn on - I could see the proper lights turned on, and the fan was whirring, but no video or sound.I then connected the laptop to an external monitor.  Nothing.  I pressed the proper keys (fn + F5) to toggle between the laptop display and the monitor.  Nothing. Is there anythin... Hello dear forum users,

I have a BIOS virus and nothing seems to help. First I installed a BIOS version from 1.10 to 1.30(.exe), then I wiped my HDD completely and installed the newest version, which is 1.40. Now I can't reinstall the BIOS, because it says the version is the same as that installed on my laptop(1.40). Is there a flashable BIOS installation for this laptop? I couldn't find one in toshiba europe's driver page.

I recently acquired a brand new barely used Toshiba satellite c55t and I slapped a 500gb ssd evo850 in it and reinstalled everything upgraded it from a windows8 pro I had. Then formated it and reinstalled windows 10 clean. I installed CIS Pro did the windows updates. And all of the sudden it started booting into PXE mode before windows booted. So I got into this atrocious UEFI Shell they have for this thing and looked around for the lan in boot sequence. The boot order was fine with Lan being last. Now I said the uefi shell was bad b/c I can't remove Lan from the boot sequence list. So it keeps booting PXE before windows and it gives me the option to hit esc and cancel out of it, I always do but its a pita and I'm wondering how I stop this from coming up when I can't remove it in the BIOS. If I straight up turn the LAN adapter off it works but then the LAN doesn't work at all so I'm basically stuck. Maybe someone has more insight on this issue I did a bunch of googling and I came up with nothing: everyone wants you to remove the Lan option from boot sequence...Well what if I can't?

Answer:Recently was given a toshiba satellite c55t and clean slated it but I'm getting a weird Bios Issue

Not 100%, but the best I've got;

1. On another computer, download the official LAN driver from the Toshiba support website. On Toshiba laptop, go to Device Manager, uninstall LAN driver and driver software (tick). Install the official driver. Reboot into BIOS. Set to defaults. Reboot.

2. Set BIOS to default. Clean format.

PXE usually points to a HDD issue. But you say your computer boots just fine if LAN is disabled? That seems super odd to me. I'm not sure if it is software or hardware. My two cents until someone that knows what they're talking about shows up.

Answer:Satellite A100 - 599: BIOS setup password issue !

Hm, thats miserable but unfortunately you will have to contact an authorized service center and ask them for help since they are the one and only which could probably help you with your problem.

As far as I know the BIOS must be something hardcoded which could only be removed by typing some codes which must be given by toshiba in japan. And since they don?t give such secrets out to end-users like us, you must click [HERE|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and contact the nearest ASP in your country.

HiAbout week ago, my Toshiba laptop spontaneously crashed, so I used the "Delete/Pwr Button" method to shut it down. When I booted up again, it asked me for a password (right after the intro screen which proudly states "Toshiba", and use the F2, F12 keys now to choose boot setting and/or setup). I didn't know the password, so after three random (and wrong) combinations, the system shut itself down. I tried it several times, and I tried the F2 and F12 keys, but both of them require the same password. So, naturally, I started researching online. I found some "back way" passwords, but none of them worked. I also found a PCI plug, a floppy disk, but the laptop can't use either of those (curse buying good computers in the 21st century!). Any advice?

I bought a Toshiba SA50-112 on EBay and have found that the BIOS is passworded. I have hunted for a solution, removed the CMOS battery and taken it apart to try to find anything to short across and have not found anything that works.
It does not have a parallel port so cant use that device. No floppy drive for a software solution. The person I bought it from said he picked it up in a job lot and cant help. His wife messed around with the notebook, and tried to get around his windows password. Some how she got into the bios, because she saw F2 for setup. She then somehow put in a password for the BIOS. She thought is was her name, but that does not work. It will not boot with a dos system disc.

The machine will not boot. It will not get pass the enter BIOS password screen. Three tries and your out.

It is a Phoenix bois and I have tried all the backdoor words.

Any other suggestions.

Answer:Bios Password Toshiba

If it's an older Toshiba, you can build a device from an old parallel printer cable. You connect certain pins to certain other pins (like connect 1 to 13, connect 2 to 7 and 10, etc...), plug it into the parallel port and boot up and it will allow you to get into the BIOS and reset the password. From what I remember, when you're in the BIOS, you have to set another password (make it simple like 1234) and the device lets you do this w/o asking for the current unknown password. You then save the changes to BIOS, shut down, remove the parallel cable thingy, reboot, enter the BIOS again, and remove the password you just created (like 1234). The parallel device has a catchy name like a 'boot blocker' or maybe 'BIOS booter' or something. They sell 'em pre-made on EBay but they only work on fairly old Toshiba's. I've only done this once about 4 or 5 years ago; it worked great when this guy's 5 year old go into the BIOS and BS'd his way into setting a password. We were all pretty stoked when this bootlegged printer cable let us reset the password!!! Anyway, I'm rambling... if it's an older Toshiba, look into it on Google or something. You can also get USB devices that do the same thing for newer Toshiba laptops, but they're not cheap; over $100 .... Just Google 'remove Toshiba password' or maybe 'reset {model number of laptop} password' or something. I dunno.... usually, these power on passwords... Read more

I'm trying to work on someone else's Toshiba Satellite notebook, which has come down with a rather nasty set of malware infections. In order to get through the bootloader, you need to either swipe the biometric reader or enter the BIOS password. There's only one problem... well, two, actually: I can't have the laptop owner hovering over my shoulder for days while I work on it, and she never set a BIOS password -- it set itself, and there's no way to remove it. According to Toshiba, several series of laptops shipped with this BIOS version, that had a strange tendancy to randomly set its own password and lock the users out. They released a BIOS update which supposedly fixes this problem... with one little issue -- it can't be applied to any BIOS that has already had this happen, because you can't get into it and remove the password.

No, the BIOS password is not stored in the BIOS chip, it's in a seperate EEPROM chip on the mainboard, and can't be cleared by cutting CMOS power or moving a jumper. I've seen several tutorials for clearing the BIOS password on these, but they all involve cross-wiring a serial port, of which this model has none, or loading something via a floppy, of which this model also, has none.

Does anyone know another way to bypass and clear the BIOS password on these machines?

Answer:Toshiba 'BIOS password glitch'

There's a BIOS cracker in Hiren BootCD's. You could give those a try. Hiren BootCD's also has some BIOS clearing tools...maybe give those a try? You'll have to talk to Mr. Torrence for a copy of a Hiren BootCD tho =P.

You have used simply a wrong BIOS password. Either you have mistyped, mixed some letters or for example the caps lock buttons was enabled.
Please check these possibilities.

By the way; it?s not possible to bypass the unknown BIOS password by yourself.
If the BIOS password in unknown you will have to contact the ASP in your country to unlock the computer and to delete the BIOS password.

Hi,Ok a friend of mine rang me today regarding her Equium A60, her ex boyfriend has put a password on the BIOS and I cannot work out how to remove it, she has asked him what it is, he claims he was drunk and don't know what it is. She has been quoted ?150 by pc world which is extortion. I have had it in bits but can't seem to find the battery, the ways of clearing BIOS listed on toshiba's site do not work, the thing is it is not exactly looked after so wouldn't be worth spending ?150 on it, but her college work is on it, which is her only concern.Anyone knows of a way, besides shorting the chip lol. Answer:Toshiba notebook BIOS password removal?

Resetting the BIOS password is fairly straightforward on a desktop - remove the CMOS battery; after a short while (usually 10 to 15 minutes) the BIOS will be reset to the factory settings.

Laptops however present a bit more of a challenge.

There are several guides to using backdoor passwords
Google "resetting bios password laptop"
This will give you a whole range of possible solutions.

If you simply need to bypass the password but not reset it:
most Toshiba laptops will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot.

I have Toshiba C55-B5202 laptop. Yesterday when I turned on It showed Enter Password out of nowhere. To my knowledge it must be BIOS password. I searched for this in google, and I found few people had the same problem with different models of Toshiba laptops. Some people sorted out the problem by using jumpers on the motherboard.
I don't know which jumer to short in my laptop model. I had assembled PCs, so I have no hesitation in opening my laptop .Please help me. I am out of warranty.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q882 which has now spontaneously put a BIOS password. No idea on what it is. I have done a lot of research on the issues (of course a good deal of information regards to laptops from 95-02)

I have taken this beast apart and removed the CMOS battery, left it out for over an hour. I havent found any information regarding a password reset jumper or anything like that. The only other thing I have come across is a key sequence used to display a challenge code where another code can be entered which would remove the password, but nothing specificly for this laptop.

I have talked to Toshiba which has been uncooperative, telling me to send the laptop in. I am in a situation where I cannot send the laptop in, so anyone with any knowledge on these new laptops with thier Fort Knox BIOS would be great!

Hi,

Friend of mine runs a small farm supply business, he had three reps, he now has two. The third bought his own laptop on company credit card (allowed) it's a Toshiba Satellite L640. He handed it back in on his last day (unwillingly) friend tried to start it up and goes straight to a black screen with blue password box, can't F2 or F12 just goes straight to password, can't boot off CD. Former employee won't answer phone calls and not sure he would provide it anyway.

Help please?

Answer:Toshiba satellite L640 password

You are going to have to reset the bios password which will involve dismantling the laptop. Is it still under warranty? I'm sure your friend has the proper documentation to prove he owns it, therefore, if it's still under warranty, he can get help from Toshiba.

If it is no longer under warranty, however, there are ways to reset the bios password, as I mentioned, but it will involve dismantling the laptop.

I dont know how I did it but my computer always came on asked me for a password, well yesterday I turned it on from being shut down and it asked for the usual password, i entered it then it started windows. Then it stops and wants a username and another password, I have no idea what the password is and am not sure of the username. Its running windows seven and do sent seem to have anything wrong with it but somehow I must have switched the settings by accident, or brain fart.

Any advice I can get would be greatly appreciated, also if I enter the incorrect username or password enough times will it lock up. I am nervous of doing something really hard to reset if I put in the wrong ones.

Answer:need some help with the password on toshiba satellite a505

You need to get into safemode and run a virus scan. The login at the first boot of Windows is the only login credentials you should need and anything after that without extra enterprise level software could very well be a virus.

Toshiba Satellite Pro M-15, "outta the blue" now thinks it has a HDD password??? how'd that happen?

the manual says to hold 'ESC' and hit the power button from a dead startup, and that allows me to press F1 and enter Setup. No worky. The system goes directly to the "Enter the HDD Password" screen.

Anyone encounter this before? surely this is not a hack job.... how do you dive through the OS layers all the way to BIOS and setup a bogus pwd. Plus, in the Toshiba world, the HDD password has to match an Administrator boot password... neither of which have ever been setup on this system.

??

I'm thinking I'm going to have to crack the case and pull the bios batt out.
anyone have a diff idea?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro thinks it has a HDD password?

You?ll have to take the laptop to the authorized center. A certified technician has to call Toshiba and get the special code to unlock the laptop.
I have tried many ways to unlock a password protected hard drive, and its no go.
You will have to replace the hard drive- the cmos battery will not help the hard drive problem.

Well, I have used the BIOS updater listed on the drivers/bios updates section of Toshiba website, on Windows vista x64 and offcourse I have used the x64 executable.
Strangely, when I reboot it, it requests a bios password that I have never inserted. So I suppose the update inserted a password automatically. Now I can't boot from any device so I cant use the laptop.

What do you have to say about this?

How can I remove that password? Maybe with any JCMOS jumper?

Thanks in advance.

If the BIOS settings were corrupted, the system may think there is a password.

Basically you need to get the password removed professionally. An ASP can do it for you, I dont know if they will charge you unless its something they will cover for free.

Hi, to everybody:

I have a problem with my toshiba satellite A110-179.
I don't exactly how, my computer has set a user CMOS pass, that avoid me completely the access to BIOS settings, or a correct boot system.
So I don?t Know to restart the CMOS settings, to delete all the configuration, the user pass included in that.

I haven been reading about the possible reset process of my laptop BIOS, so I don't find exactly how to do it, so everybody sais that in Toshiba laptops, is impossible reset the defaults setup parameters.

Is this true?
Can I do anything?

Please, explain me the process. I'm completely desperate about that.
Excuse my horrible english, It was forgotten.

Thank you so, so much for your help.

Best regards from Spain.

Hi

Fact is that the BIOS password cannot be deleted by user if the user doesn?t know this password.
In such case the Toshiba ASP (authorized service partner) has to be contacted in order to remove this password.

Sorry mate but from my knowledge there is no other way to remove this?
Therefore get in contact with your ASP and ask for the help!

Good luck

Hello Expert,
Last week, I stayed at rented place for a week. To protect my Laptop, I created a user login with password. In mean while I also deleted the the guest and adminstrator account (default account). I donot know why...
now I removed the password from user login. so I can access the machine without waiting for autentication...

But today when I tried to install a software, it is asking me for password of Toshiba account.

upto my best knowldege, I have never created a Toshiba account...all my accounts are without password..

From internet I found this software to read the password of window...(opcrack)..
This software is showing four account on the machine(Guest, Administrator, dkengg,ASpnet) without passport.

there is no clue of Toshiba....and on control panel->useraccount->(there is only one account dkengg) because I have deleted all other last week..

any clue on Toshiba password...

I have bought this laptop from Carphone warehouse ..
so if you need any autentication, then plesase let me know..
I can provide all the copy of bills..

Cheers,
DK

Answer:Toshiba Password request on Satellite L300-16L

At first I must say this is user-to-user forum so this with bills and copies will not work here. Maybe you should contact your local dealer or authorized Toshiba service.

I really don't know what you have done but fact is that Toshiba notebooks are not delivered with any passwords and restrictions. When you get new notebook everything is ?open? and you can create own accounts (during setup procedure at first start-up) and passwords.

I am afraid you have done something wrong and now you get this password request.
Can you, maybe sent a screenshot of your desktop when this request is shown?

Answer:No Password for Toshiba Satellite x205 laptop

There is an old trick that might work here. I don't know that laptop model off the top of my head but with what I can tell you, maybe you can research a bit and find out where it is. Unplug the laptop and take the battery out. Then, remove the CMOS battery and leave it all unplugged for about 20 minutes (just in case) and put everything back together. This will reset the BIOS for you where no password is needed. Jonas "Jackal" Learhttp://www.sbccrew.comServing the South Bay Since 1999

I turned on my computer last night and was locked out with a BIOS password prompt. Super frustrating and it takes a lot of time to send in laptop for "free" repair as noted on Toshiba Support Notice: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaS...iceId=&dialogID=33671841&stateId=0 0 33673053

I found the repair info over several blogs and forums regarding this problem. It is a really easy fix, with just a little bit of work and patience. I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4014. This should also work on a A100 since they are of the same family.
1) like always with anything that you do when taking your computer apart, take out the battery and unplug it (common sense)
2) Remove the plastic cover piece above the keyboard, called the "keyboard bezel". this is the piece where you can see the speakers. This page gives several pictures as to how to do this. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a135/remove-mainboard-2.htm
**I found it a little bit difficult to get the plastic retaining clips to "pop" loose, but if you are careful, you can use a small screw driver and slowly "wiggle-pry" between the two screen mounts. this is done with the screen all the way back. you could use a paper clip with a little 1/8" bend at tip to do this also. (it is a tight working area) Once these three retaining clips have come loose the others are fairly easy to "pop" Just be patient and work it slowly. once this is... Read more

This laptop running WindowsXP was given to me to see if I could fix it. I assume it has malware because kids used it and I don't think they were very careful. When I first tried to boot it I could get to where I have the option of going to Setup, or selecting a boot device. I set the boot device to the cd drive and made an Ultimate Boot CD in another computer to try. The ubcd was used to boot another computer so I know it works. The Toshiba would not boot from the CD and now when it gets to the option to go to Setup, or Select a boot device it shuts down after about 3 or 4 seconds.

I doubt that they have any backup disks or restore disks for it.

Is there any hope for it at this point. I'm not going to put any money into it myself. I don't see any way to boot it up to do anything anymore.

TIA,

Jim
