Question: Windows 10 Mail App deleting emails in my Gmail Inbox

When I delete an email received in my Win 10 Mail App inbox, the same email is also deleted in my Gmail inbox, automatically. I would like to prevent this. Emails deleted from my Mail App should be left behind in my Gmail inbox. Could I prevent this deletion from happening by changing an IMAP Access setting in my Gmail settings?

I attach two pictures. In the one, you can see how my Win 10 Mail App was configured by Windows when I added my Gmail account. In the other picture, you can see what I consider changing in my IMAP settings at GMail. I have no idea if this will help and whether I should make this change. I am fairly computer-illiterate.

Could somebody advise me please?

Im using vista home premium.
Windows mail is deleteing email one min. it will be there and the next its gone. Its not in any folders are the trash or the computers trash can. Its not every email but enough important ones are gettting deleted that I have to fix this problem

I have set up my gmail emails to be displayed along with my POP emails using Windows Live Mail. They do display but in duplicate every time. My POP emails show as single email messages as is normal. Can you tell me what I have done wrong please??? Thanks RRH100

Try this -
When in the live mail program as you look at the folders under your email account you will see an inbox on top. Under the inbox is a folder named Gmail, this folder expands to show "all mail" which is all emails in your box under one folder. Live mail when showing "unread emails" displays the inbox and the "all mail" folder at the same time. This creates the duplicates shown in the unread messages tab. To fix this click on the gmail folder and right click on the "all mail" folder and select Hide this folder.

So this just started today (like an hour ago). When I get an email in Gmail it shows in my Inbox. If I open it to read it, and then close it, it still shows in my Inbox, but if I refresh then it disappears. Only unread emails show. If I check All Mail it shows the read emails, and shows the tag "Inbox", so they are still there, but just not visible. If I check them as unread in the All Mail view they show again in Inbox, but again, once read, they disappear. It's happening in both Chrome and Firefox. Anyone else having this issue?

I have got all my emails from my mail-server's Inbox in to the Thunderbird's Inbox and my Mail-server's Inbox is empty now. Probably, I might have CHECKED "use Global Inbox" (store mail in local folders) during selecting the type of server (usually POP for commercial accounts), and type in the name of the incoming server.

I would like to ask you two questions:
1. How should I modify and UNCHECK "Use Global Inbox" in the Thunderbird so that all my mail-server's emails do not imported to Thunderbird?
2. How could I get back my all emails from Thunderbird Inbox to my Mail-server Inbox?

Dont' think you can get them back on your ISP's mail server. All pop3 based email clients that I have seen have an option to "Leave mail on server" Outlook Express and Eudora both have this feature. I can't believe Mozilla would have forgotten to add that feature.

Say Folks,
It seems as though that my Inbox for Windows Mail is Deleting recevied mesasages. When I receive a message I open it read it and leave it in my Inbox. I close Windows Mail afterwards. The next time I open Windows Mail any and all Messages that were left in the inbox are gone. I've tried to see if they have been automatically moved to another folder but I can't find them anywhere. Any thoughts?

While you have your Inbox open in Windows Mail, click on View on the menu bar, Current View, and dot Show all messages. They should then return back.

A long time back, all my emails started going into my allmail box instead of my inbox.
Most of the time, that doesn;t bother me. But there are times, when i lose focus on the allmail.
Then I have to try and remember the shortcut to get back to allmail, or to go the sibebar, where Inbox is on top and below that "important" and so on. But to get to allmail, you have to go down to more, and find AllMail as a submenu in that. It might even be necessary to make the browser page smaller, so you can see the More menu.
So is it possible to either (a) get messages to go into inbox, or to bring Allmail up to the top of the sidebar, where Inbox is located.
The second one would be my first choice, as that's where my most of all my emails are ie in allmail.
But if i can only do the first thing ie get messages to appear in my inbox, is there a way to move all mails in my allmail box to my inbox?

update. Okay, after all these years, i have found out that all mail refers to archived mail.
So if all my mail is going into archived mail, does that mean that at one stage, i chose to have all my mail be archived. Perhaps I hit something invaderntly.
I came upon this, because I had another question about Archived mail. I was wondering if I was looking at mail, in all mail, and ticked a post, and chose to archive it, and then deleted it, was it still in the archive. But as I am in the archive (all mail) I am deleting it from the archive, or am I.

No, All Mail is exactly what it says. Mail in every location: Inbox, any folders you created, archived emails, trash and spam.
There is a label in front of the subject line telling you where that particular email is located.
When you delete from the archive it moves to trash. You will see it in All Mail with Trash in front of the subject.
You can also see it if you open Trash.

Go to settings: (gear icon) then click on labels. If you cahnge All Mail from Hide to Show it will appear at the top rather than having to click the arrow aside of More.

I have Windows 8.1, 64 bit OS. I've added my email account into WLM (using IMAP settings). I made several folders and transferred a lot of saved emails into different folders. After finishing, I clicked on the Inbox folder, and received the following error:

There are no items in this view. Some items may be hidden because a view is applied.

I know there were over 25 emails sitting in the Inbox, but now I can't see them. I've tried changing settings in the View drop down menu, but nothing is bring back the emails.

When I access by email via webmail, I can see all the emails that are in my Inbox.

SO what should the settings be to bring back my Inbox emails?

All of a sudden my inbox emails are disappearing. After I read it, it goes away. In fact, all my inbox emails I have had for 4 months have dissappeared. I have subfiles and they are not dissappearing only the inbox. I scanned my hard drive for a virus, and it did detect. It said it could not be deleted. It was an incoming email. I permanantly deleted it. But the disappearing act is still the star. !!

I am running windows7 home premium and using live mail , about 2+ weeks ago a few incoming messages are now stuck in the inbox some I have opened and some unread. When I try to delete and or move any of these emails to another folder and or delete I get an error box shows with a message that" an error occurred and cannot open -please try again later" Does anyone have a clue how to remedy this problem? I am using windows mail. On my yahoo account when i delete the mail, it also deletes from the server. How can i do that for Gmail? currently unless i log directly into my email account i cannot delete the emails directly from windows mail. Also is there anyway to completely block windows mail from downloading the Spam mail from the the server?

I primarily use Windows Mail for my work at home job. I also have a Gmail account so I can check for e-mails on my iphone when I'm out. I want to have it set up so that the emails show up in both places, Windows Mail and Gmail.

Currently if my desktop computer is turned off and my Windows Mail program is not open, the incoming emails only go to Gmail and not Windows mail. OR, if my computer is up and running but the Windows mail doesn't happen to be open, the emails only go to Gmail and not Windows Mail. Seems like if my browser (IE8) is open but windows mail is not open, emails will only go to Gmail.

Do I have some settings wrong which would make the emails not show up in Windows Mail?

I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit.

While researching for this issue, found a link which might help in fixing the issue: Leaving Mail on the Server with Windows Mail | Tiger Technologies Support

Ensure to check the box ?Leave a copy of messages on the server? and uncheck ?Remove from server after? and ?Remove from server when deleted from deleted items?. Click Apply and then OK.

Check if the new messages appear in Windows Mails and Gmail.

Please post the results.

Hi, Ok, so I use gmail that is then downloaded into my Thunderbird (wish there were TB techies out there, but they are VERY hard to find). I can't stand the division Gmail makes you go through with your mail & 90% of my mail is never seen b/c it gets divided into those other folders. I thought I solved the problem when I went to settings ----)  Inbox -------) and then I unchecked all the checkboxes for social, promotions, updates, etc. but noooo, the mail is STILL ending up in those folders & I'm losing mail. I don't even know what updates stands for. Can someone explain that one to me? Can someone PLEASE tell me how to solve this problem once & for all. I can't even move the mail into the Inbox. I have tried, & under the move button there's no option for inbox or primary, but I don't want to have to manually move it anyway. The divisions you refer to are called inbox tabs. You can disable them easily. Log into Gmail from a web browser (I recommend the latest version of Chrome or Firefox). I know you've already tried turning them off by going to Settings > Inbox and unchecked them. Did you actually save the changes? If you did, the settings apply instantly. Alternatively, click Settings > Configure inbox and unselect all tabs except primary (inactive) then click Save. Your inbox should instantly reflect the changes. If nothing happens after clicking save, you may be using a script-blocking add-on or extension that's breaking Gmail's functionality.

Hi, My name is Fran. I've had something strange going on for a while (a month?) and I thought I'd give this a shot to figure out what the problem is. As I said in the Topic title, I have blank Outlook 2003 emails that keep showing up in my Inbox/Sent Mail/Deleted Mail Folders for my hotmail account in Outlook 2003. They all are the same size, but have various times. I contacted Microsoft, and they suggested that I reset my passwordsand security questions for all of my email accounts. I did this, but the problem has continued in my Hotmail account in Outlook 2003. This has made me suspect that I have something on my computer that picked up the new password. I fear that someone or something is hijacking my computer and want to put a stop to it. I read something today about HijackThis and decided to give it a try. I installed the software and ran a scan generating a log file. It then instructed me to use one of the forums for assistance in a list on their website in which you were at the top--so here I am.I attached the log for the scan from Hijackthis (I HAD TWO FILES AND WAS UNSURE WHICH YOU SHOULD GET, SO I UPLOADED BOTH--I RAN TWO SCANS WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER, BUT AM UNSURE IF THESE LOGS ARE FOR EACH OR JUST ONE SCAN). Friends computer running Windows mail is have trouble with gmail emails.

It does not receive them at all or it puts them into the junk folder.

He missed a very important email about a church meeting that got him in hot water.

Anybody else having this problem???

he is using Windows Vista and have McAfee antivirus.

My ISP, Shentel, now uses Google mail as email servers. I run a business and in the past have been able to send bulk type emails, broken down into groups of 80 or less recipients (per my ISP instructions) and had no issues. I have about 10-12 of these groups of 80 or less recipients and I send each group seperately throughout the day. In otherwords, I don't send all 10-12 groups at once.
I only send these group emails 2 - 4 times a year, so I'm not sending 10 ga-billion emails.
Recenlty (say in the last 6 months), I send out these bulk emails and the emails are not delivered. They are not stuck in the Outbox and they show as being Sent. I have contacted some of the recipients individually and they indicated they did not receive the group emails, but do receive individual emails.
I contacted my ISP and they just walked me through my Windows Live Mail settings, but he was not able to offer any other help.
Any help appreciated.

It sounds like there's a syncing issue between Windows Live and Gmail.
Are you able to get to the Gmail admin page for your email account via a web browser? From there, make sure it's configure to use IMAP.
You may also want to try another email client, like Outlook or Thunderbird.

gmail is set-up and sends and receives emails on its website. I then set it up on Windows 10 running Windows Live Mail. However, although gmail on the computer can send emails ok, it refuses to receive them. error
message comes up as follows- Windows Server Error (, portal POP3, port 993, secure SSL Yes.
Windows Live Mail Error ID O x 800 CCC 90. I can still send emails through the website, it is Windows Live
Mail which will not send emails. All other email addresses I have send and receive emails through Windows
Live Mail so the problem seems to be with the gmail address, any help how to solve this, have looked at UTube
and various blogs but haven't found a solution.

so I just connected outlook 07 with my gmail account, after deleting unwanted emails in outlook, the deleted emails still marked as unread and still there in my gmail account.

Depending on how you're connecting to gmail it may not be possible. I know it's not possible to delete emails on the web server if you're using an HTTP or IMAP connection. By default, most tutorials tell you to use IMAP and POP isn't enabled be default on a gmail account.

To Enable Pop in Gmail:

1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
5. Choose what to do with your messages after they're accessed with your POP client or device.
6. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.

To Configure Outlook 2007 to connect via POP:

1. Enable POP in your email account. Don't forget to click Save Changes.
2. Open Outlook.
3. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings...
4. On the E-mail tab, click New...
5. If you are prompted to Choose E-mail Service, Select POP and then select Next.
6. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

gmail is malfunctioning, I need to completely delete it, then reinstall. BUT, I need the emails saved in my filter folders. How can I save the folders and delete the program on my laptop?

I use gmail on my phone and my desktop, too, but, those versions seem to be working. I think there's corruption in the file on the laptop.

I really don't want to lose the folders, they contain old legal info, business communications from years ago that will be invaluable if I need to contact familiar professionals, and so forth.

But, with gmail sticking things in the trash, refusing to use "sent mail", behaving exceedingly strangely, I know I can't keep it as it is...I missed a reply to a letter to my lawyer today.

My Hotmal inbox has begun deleting mail that is over 10 days old just like my junk mail folder. I have checked all settings, etc. I have no clue as to why. It is very disturbing. It began shortly after I began using a Mac as well as my Windows PCs for email.

in outlook 2010, i understand one can use a gmail account without actually opening up the gmail account, that is he can run the account from outlook, does that mean one can delete messages also, just like a regular account.
when i try to delete a message, it deletes it from the inbox of that gmail account in outlook 2010, but under the gmail folder it updates itself, and downloads it again, even after i delete it from the gmail folder also.

Hallo tapuz, you may have to sign into your gmail account and delete all your old messages.
From there select settings in the top RH corner
Then select Forwarding & pop/imap tab
In the pop download column go to option 2 and in the drop down box select delete gmails copy
Then select save changes.
This will stop gmail saving a copy once Outlook has downloaded it to your computer.

OK this is strange. I opened WLM this morning and all was fine, my emails downloaded and I could see my inbox. All of a sudden though my inbox went away and the inbox window only shows the last email in my inbox...when I click on any of my folders, no list of emails appear and instead the last email in the folder shows on the screen...I went to View --> Show --> All Messages and that is properly selected but I can't see my list of emails in my inbox or any folder anymore.

This seems like a bug? I definitely didn't select any menu item, just open the program up this morning, all was fine, but then this occurred. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all,

For some reason, the Mail app seems to completely ignore emails in any other folder than my Inbox (i.e. the Social and Newsletters folder). It alerts me (although very late) for emails in my Inbox folder but there are no alerts when receiving emails in my Social or Newsletter folders.
Even when opening the Mail app and I see there are 7 new emails in the Social folder and 1 in my Inbox, the live tile only shows there is 1 email.
I have double checked ALL the options in the Mail app and the PC Settings app to make sure alerts should pop up as soon as new email comes in. The option to alert me for any kind of email (not just favorites) is also enabled.

I have reinstalled the Mail app, I have restarted the Windows Firewall service, performed the SFC /scannow command without finding any integrity violations and have run the App Troubleshooter to fix any issues without any result.

Running Windows Pro 8.1 (Update 1) x64 bit.

Answer:Mail app ignores emails in folders other than Inbox

As you probably know, the emails from certain sources use a rule (just like rules in the full Outlook) to file them in the Social and Newsletter folders. Being that the rule is probably invoked prior to them getting into the Inbox, it probably is bypassing the Notification.

Try dragging an existing email from one of the folders. It should ask you if you want to move just one or all future. If you answer All Future, it should basically delete the rule. When the next one comes in, see if you get a Notification. If you do, drag it to the folder to reestablish the rule. If it goes back to not notifying you, you're toast.

If you can live with all of them going to your Inbox, then redo the delete procedure for the rule and let the notifications come in.

One Touch email is a fine principle

But I want to manage emails on pc and iPhone separately. When I delete an email on my pc using Outlook, I don't want it to delete alreadydownloaded emails on my iPhone. This is how my hotmail accounts work.

Gmail works differently. It syncs all messages immediately on both devices. Can I change Gmail to stop deleting/updating emails. I still want all messages displayed on both devices, whenever I start them.

Alternatively, can I make MS hotmail sync all messages, just like Gmail?

Almost always, I have to log into IE 8 and get to my homepage after I've viewed and deleted emails in Windows Live Mail. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way of leaving WLM and going back to IE and my homepage without going through the routine of logging in all the time? Thanks.

I have live and gmail emails in my Windows and Gmail. When a new message comes in it shows briefly in my Windows inbox, then disappears. Messages can be seen under my gmail folder, but the inbox under live is blank. Why is this and how can I fix it?

I recently shifted from thunderbird to outlook now i added all my emails but for some reason some of the emails are not showing inbox and other folders until i click on drop down on the email name. Why ?

I use the new Windows Live Mail client to access two IMAP accounts, Gmail and one provided by my University. Gmail works such that whenever you send an email through it, it automatically puts a copy in the Sent Mail folder. So if the WLM client tries to put a copy there as well, you end up with two copies of the email in the Sent Mail folder. The University IMAP account doesn't work like this. A copy will only appear in the Sent Mail folder for that account if the client program puts a copy there.

So the problem is the way WLM handles this. Most IMAP settings are specific to the account. You right click on an account, go to settings, and then go to the IMAP section and specify the folders and stuff like that. However, the option of whether or not WLM puts a copy of an email you send in the Sent Mail folder can only be set for the entire client.

In Tools->Options->Send is the checkbox for this option. If it's checked, I get a single copy of sent mail in the University account and two copies in Gmail. If it is unchecked I get no copies for the University account and just one for Gmail.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

edit: Oh, and a side question, is it possible to make WLM stop showing the number of unread emails in the trash or spam? They're in there because I have no intention of reading them. I don't care how many are unread.

when I open mail in windows 10 i can open each account ie gmail, yahoo, outlook, but outlook doesnot have my outlook 2013 mail

I have multiple accounts in Windows Mail and I am running Vista. I would like for all emails to go into one inbox instead of having to check each one every 5 minutes. I've seen other threads on here saying click "quick views" and then "all inbox" or something to that nature but I cannot find quick views anywhere. When I click the view tab and then click layout, quick views does appear. I would just like a simple solution.

Like in outlook we have the option to deliver all emails to one PST; so each email would be listed separately. You can have up to 32 email accounts in Windows Mail, However, by default; all email from all accounts goes into the same Inbox. There are three different ways of changing that:

1. Use separate Windows user logins. That gives total privacy, and is
ideal when two different people use the same computer.

2. Use message rules to filter incoming messages into
separate mail folders.

3. Upgrade to Windows Live Mail which has separate folders for each
account, no rules needed: Windows Essentials: Other Programs

The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.

Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?

My windows live mail always opens in the view I closed it in. How can I set it to always open at the inbox. The operating system is windows 7.

I don't think that you can do what you want in Windows Live, I am pretty sure that I have read in other forums that others have switched to a different email client such as Thunderbird which I understand allows you to always open with the inbox. Outlook allows this setting but not Windows Live as far as I know.

My email arrives via Yahoo first, and then to windows Mail, but when I delete email from windows mail (holding shift key & delete, so that it is deleted forever), and save some emails to a different folder, so that my inbox is empty, if I logon to yahoo it still shows all my emails in the Yahoo mail inbox.
When I used to launch Windows Mail and all my emails arrive, then go to Yahoo inbox, it would of cause be empty, but as above over the weekend something has happened, any clues?
Now I am having to delete from Windows Mail & Yahoo!!!

How do I set Windows Live Mail to go to Inbox when I start it, it always
starts in the folder I was in when I last was in Mail.
I've tried changing the start in to.

But it still opens in the last folder I was in before I closed my email.

Bring up windows mail, click on view then show or hide, and make sure it is set correctly.

today i received 14 emails , which i went to look at when i arrived home , my laptop then crashed , and when i went to turn it back on , i went to my inbox , and they had dissapeared , i definatley know there was 14 there because id started to read them.All of my other messages are there , my old inbox , sent , and drafts etc.

Doeas any body know if there is a way of retrieving them emails again , i just cant understand why they are now not there

When opening some emails not all, I get "Message could not be displayed". Pressing the red cross delete button on top toolbar a window pop's up with "An unknown error has occured".I cannot delete these emails. This only started today.

Move the mail to the draft box and delete them from there..If this problem persists you will need to delete the inbox and when your mail software opens again a new inbox will be created. Remember to keep any emails you want before doing the later...

Newbie here!
Hope you can help with this frustrating problem. Had to delete and set up a new email account in Windows Mail (my ISP is SKY) because I had to re-install Vista. Followed the Sky instructions and was up and running, however, when I open up Mail, I now have in the folder list, the Local Folders of Inbox, Outbox, Sent etc I also have an folder with its own Inbox, Outbox etc etc.
When I send/receive it automatically goes into the imap Inbox and when I delete it it disappears completely, doesn't go in to the Deleted Item folder so cannot retrieve it if I needed to.
Do I have to live with these two Folder Lists? Why can't things be simple and return to their original settings?

That is how IMAP works. The mail remains on the server, when you Delete it is gone. The alternative and what you were use to is POP3. If your email service also offers POP3, set it up in that fashion.

PLEASE LOOK AT MY ATTACHMENT AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN THIS. A few days ago I lost a large number of emails in Windows Mail and unknown folders appeared. My PC is an HP 64 bit dual core running VISTA. I browse with Google Chrome. When I click on any unknown folder it is empty or seems so. They start below Junk E-mail with Recovered Messages then Local Folders and this sequence repeats many times. See Attachment PDF. I seem to have most of my Inbox mail but all my custom folders by category of email (friends, various activities, etc.) are gone. I have rebuilt a couple. I have my emails on an external drive but don't want to import them back if they are just going to go away again. Somewhere I read that this may be related to anti-virus activity(not a virus but reaction to the abnti-virus) so I removed Spybot and Malawarebytes and only left Norton Security. I would appreciate any ideas on what happened and how to remove these folders before I import backed up mail. Also any thoughts on if the mail may be elsewhere on my PC and how to locate it. Thanks.

Hi - I am new to this. When a Windows Mail email arrives, my lap-top has suddenly started putting a blue + by messages when the heading is the same as a heading already in use, instead of listing the new message separately. I have to click on the blue + and then the new message appears. The trouble is that a new message may have a heading similar to one used ages ago and therefore I cannot find the new message. I've just started using Windows Live Mail 2011 along with IE 9 and Windows 7. I can't return to the Inbox after I've finished readling an email unless I Close that email. Before I could use the Return arrow to be able to get back to my Inbox. Is this normal for WLM 2011 or am I missing something? Thanks.

HP Dv7t laptop, Windows 7 pro, 8 g RAM and 2 internal hard drives.
I had a glitch of some sort. I use Windows 7 Pro and Windows live mail. After an update for Windows 7, I could not connect to the Verizon serer. I got that fixed but in the process, I lost all the messages in my inbox and then Verizon in an attempt to help, removed all my sent messages as well.

I can see them in files on the computer but I cannot open them with Windows live mail from there. I can open them in Outlook but its a trial version. When I try to import from Windows live mail folder to Windows live mail it says I cannot because Windows Live or another program is using them. How do I get around that and reinstall my inbox messages and sent box messages?
Here's where I found them C:\Users\Karen\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\verizon\Inbox But I cannot just import them. Same with the Sent Box. My storage folders remain intact so I don't want to uninstall in reinstall Windows Liive Mail. Every time I try import mail, because I am importing to Windows Live Maail, from live mail, I get a message that I cannot do that because the files are being used by another program. Cannot find another program other than Windows Live mail that is open. But cannot close it and import at the same time. Catch 22. There has to be a way. At one point I saw a message that an update caused people to lose contacts and mail, but I cannot find that message again. It had a solution, I think.

Karen mate if you know roughly when that update was installed try a system restore back to then it will not lose any data and if you can pin it down to a specific update then set you updates the like in my pic and when the offender comes up right click and Hide it.

When I start WLM my Inbox is not synchronized to my Hotmail account. It shows many previously deleted emails.

Sync does not fix this.

All other folders, calendar etc. are correct.

Have you made sure that all the settings are correct in your Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail. If you go online to Hotmail do you have new messages there, if you do it means you haven't set the account details properly in Windows Live Mail which will allow you to download new messages.

Question: Gmail Inbox

Would like to set a bookmark for my Gmail Inbox, but instead of going directly to Inbox, I get the Gmail settings page over my Inbox.
It's a pain to have to clear the Settings page on each visit.
Using SUSE and Firefox.
Any ideas?

jflan, I have not tried to set up gmail as a bookmark. But I have made a gmail shortcut to my desktop. I just right clicked on the inbox page, clicked shortcut and it made one to my desktop. Now when I want to check my gmail, I just double click the shortcut on my desktop and up pops the inbox page.

Google does not put e-mails in categories, so you have all the mail in the inbox (except that which has been archived or moved to trash). The advantage of labelling is that you can, if you so wished, see only the mail with a particular label.

I am stumped by how to access my gmail account using my computer.  I created a new gmail email account using my iphone.  I can see that I have 3 emails in my inbox using my iphone.  these are confirmation emails from google.
However, I cannot access my gmail inbox from my laptop.  When I click on "gmail" from the Google home page I do not go to my gmail inbox, instead I go to my Goggle Account log in page.   From there it seems I can create a gmail email acct.  but I already have one.  when I try to enter the gmail addr I have on iphone, I get a msg that tells me it is already in use.  But all I want to do is use my gmail acct from my computer and compose a new email!.

Try signing out using your iphone first. Then delete all cookies from whatever browser you are using.
Now click on Gmail - Email from Google...and choose to sign in.

and other locations such as Flash and DOM storage. Just make sure that cookies is selected along with other

3 days ago my windows live email acct went haywire. It opens up automatically as one of my saved tabs when I click Google to go on internet. This time the page looked very different, all pink and today it is now blue after I did a system restore. Only had one restore point which was back in Aug 2014. I think it successfully was restored. I am not a computer whiz for sure.

So I could not open any folders or my inbox. Was able to click on the help button but everything else acted like it was in a simple document and I had not also clicked the control key to go to the link.

I have copied and pasted the actual page and hope to attach it to this message. I deleted all of my personal stuff such as folder names, number of emails in inbox and so on. I have windows 7 and my laptop is about 5 years old It has been causing me several issues recently and would like to get a new laptop but am not counting on that.

I have Windows Live Mail 2011 and i have subfolder named Inbox inside Storage Folders (picture mail.png) and there is no folder fisically on hdd(picture folder.png) i transfered all mails and folders to another computer but these ones are most important and i cant find them to transfer to another computer.

So, you have an MSN email account that's been set up in WLM, right?  Is it set up as a POP account in WLM?  Do you have it set to leave messages on the server?  Any other accounts in WLM?  Have you recently changed any settings in WLM?  Have you recently made any software changes to your computer, such as antivirus or anti-spyware programs? Can you access your MSN email online, i.e. via web browser?  If so, do you see any messages are there?

Greetings. I have a Lenovo Y530 laptop running Vista Home Edition. My Windows Live Mail was hacked. Initially, I was not able to send or receive messages. This past Monday, I opened the program and my inbox is being flooded nonstop with messages. I can't see any of the messages, just the numerical count keeps increasing.

I have changed my password and security settings, but the problem continues. I'm sure this is a common problem but I haven't been able to find a solution online. Any detailed advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

p.s. I am not using Hotmail. My ISP is AT&T and my AT&T webmail is running fine.

Using the Windows 10 native mail app with my account any email sent to me goes into a folder with my email address. Nothing ever shows up in the "Inbox" folder. Is there a way to change that?

I have 7 email accounts available with Comcast and have had two of them set up with Windows Live Mail on my new Windows 7 system.

Been lovin' it. However, when I recently set up several more of my Comcast accounts (setting them up identically to the others), mail sent to them does not show up in their individual inbox folders. In fact, for those, incoming mail does not even show up in the "All Inbox" in "Quick Views". The only indication I have of incoming mail to any of these recently set up email accounts is that they do appear in the "All e-mail" folder of "Quick Views".

Again, these latter accounts are set up IDENTICALLY as the previous two that work properly.

Vista Home Prem. 64 bit IE 9, MS Essentials, Malware Bues, Open Office. (Chrome deleted today)

Today I discovered that the contents of my Inbox in Gmail had totally disappeared. My trash, deleted etc boxes were also empty. I checked my settings there are no changes to my forwarding (disabled) and the contents of the All Mail box does contain all my inbox contents and my sent mail.
I've taken the precaution of changing all password and questions on all the protected site I use. I went to access my Linksys WRT54G router to change my network PW via Chrome and the Linksys IP and could not get into the router. I then tried the same using IE9 and was able the change the settings in my router.
I have since deleted Chrome, no need for two browsers.
Any thoughts on what may be going on. None of the Gmail Help posts were of much help

I'm now using Gmail and wondered if it's possible to set up sub-folders in the Inbox as in Outlook Express and Windows Mail. I found it very useful having sub-folders for various specific people, being able to keep their emails all together.

I haven't found any way of doing this.

Incoming emails show up as received under the "Inbox" heading, but after about minute, if unopened, disappear from being shown, so I have to open "All Mail" to read them! Is there any way I can arrange for them to continue to show in "Inbox" until I have opened/read them?

Recently got the big update which successfully self-installed and I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Windows Mail version 6.0.

I went to my inbox, read my mail, and got out of Windows Mail. When I went to check mail again, I launched Windows Mail again and discovered that the program now deletes all opened mail.

I cannot find a setting within the program that allows/denies this.

I run a business from home, and all the threads from my customer service efforts are gone. I am working blind. Every call now is a first time contact, and that makes me look very, very bad.

Please advise, how do I keep opened mail in my inbox (or elsewhere). Does anyone else have that problem and know a solution?

Also, I deleted a large quantity of emails from other folders in case it was a memory problem; it all started concurrently with that update.

I can't help you as I have recurring problems with Windows mail. I use windows live mail and Thunderbird. I find Thunderbird the most stable. My problems with windows mail is when I delete mail, it stays in the deleted mail folder and I can not empty it.

Upgraded from Win7 OK and all was working well until a couple of days ago, now I cannot delete any emails after reading them, all I get is "Unknown Error" and the rubbish bin is getting full. Do I have to go to the Win10 Mail, I don't like it and want to stay what I am used to. Have tried different ways to force deletion such as marking all as read, unread, Draft and Junk Mail but WLM won't allow me to do anything, Unknown Error is all I get.

I've some old sent emails saved to My Documents from Live Mail.I can't delete them.I tried moving them to the recycle Bin,but they wouldn't go.I open them, but no option to delete as with old received emails.I sent them to myself after deleting the original address, but on deleting them in Windows Live mail, they stayed in My Documents.Can anyone help, please ?

I hear the chime that new mail has arrived & see the number of unread messages increase, but the messages themselves are not shown. I have to click on another box (junk, drafts, sent, etc) and then click back on Inbox to see the messages. This happens when I 1st open Windows Live Mail (inbox) & also if I've left it open while I do something else (internet, word, excel, etc). Previously, new messages appeared immediately, when they were received.

Actually, this might also happen with junk (spam), but I almost always leave Live Mail "sitting" in the inbox.

Previously, new messages appeared immediately, when they were received.

Actually, this might also happen with junk (spam), but I almost always leave Live Mail "sitting" in the inbox.

How do I get new messages to appear immediately, when they were received?

I recently got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium (HP Pavilion dv6 64-bit). I use Yahoo for all of my e-mail primarily, but when e-mailing directly from pages on the web my computer defaults to Windows Mail. I used to use a g-mail account to send pages and links while on the internet but Vista keeps defaulting to Windows Mail and I did not have a problem with it until recently. I attempted to respond to a Craig's list ad and Windows Mail failed to execute with the following error code {The connection to the server has failed. If you are in the US, you need a premium Yahoo account in order to use
Windows Mail. Yahoo! Mail Plus.

Whilst deleting messages in my Inbox using the Shift Delete Keys (to delete permanently), a progress bar appeared for a couple of seconds saying "Deleting" ... Immediately after this, the Inbox and its related folders had disappeared.
It is now impossible to send or receive emails on that computer.
Is there any way of restoring the Inbox WITHOUT reinstalling ... which apparently would involve losing all existing messages permanently ?

Every so often - not each time I open Windows Live Mail but daily or every other day there is no inbox. Also my (only) email account has disappeared. When I make the account again the inbox reappears (including all the mail that I had already deleted).

I use Windows 7 64 bit.

Why does this happen?

If you're using IMAP it can happen when there's a communication issue with your eMail provider.

Have you tried manually rebuilding the account with a POP/SMTP configuration and seeing if the problem happens then?

I have a Windows 10 phone. I use the Outlook Mail app that comes with the phone. My current email is a Gmail. When I loaded my phone I used my Microsoft account, which is also linked to my gmail account. In outlook, I made sure to ADD my GMAIL account and use the snych settings for email, calendar and contacts.
Calendar is great, contacts are great. When I check my emails, the emails come in just fine.
When I delete an email in the outlook app on my phone. The email is still in my GMAIL. I have tried to look up different things I can do but I can only find responses that do not work.
I would really like to use the Outlook app for my phone, but sometimes I do check my email on a computer. I would like those 2 to work with each other. Not by themselves.

Between Google's own Gmail and Inbox (by Gmail), which of the two services for email, calendar, contacts and reminders to you prefer?

If you use neither (Web or App) or Inbox (Web or App), what App, Web or Desktop client do you use to manage Google emails?

I use Incredimail on my dekstop pc, the web app on my laptop and on my smartphone, Bluemail. I kinda hate the gmail app for android :/

What are the major differences? What do you use? I've always been confused about why Google has two separate apps for emails.

When I used an android phone, I used the Gmail app. I was confused myself when I saw two separate apps for it, let alone one was logged in from using the Google data you entered on initial setup and the other required a separate setup.

i have just got a new gmail address and when i use msn messenger 6.2 and i click on 'go to my inbox' it starts outlook express. is there a way to get it to link my inbox on the gmail site rather than in the outlook express program. any help greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Gmail have now provided POP3 access to accounts, so why not set up OE to use it in that manner?

Much easier than the webmail option.

For some reason only shows my email inbox. There is no inbox for Gmail. I checked my aliases and they are both listed. Outlook 2013 shows all my inboxes. My Lumia phone shows all my inboxes.

How do I add a Gmail inbox to Missing Gmail Inbox

I re-added my Gmail account as a send and receive account and used a Google application-specific password and got this:

"We're sorry, but there was a problem creating your account. We've tried to save your settings, but if you don't see your account on the set-up page, you may need to choose "Add an email account" and start over."

I have Gmail and any time I reply to an email, I get a copy of it in my inbox. Its so frustrating, how do i fix this issue?? It happens if I do it from my PC or smartphone. Help!

Do you access your gmail account via web browser or an email client/program (Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc.)? If you use an email client, is your gmail account configured as POP or IMAP? Have you created any "Labels" in your gmail account? Has this been happening ever since you created your gmail account or did it start later? If later, did you make certain changes to your gmail settings just before this started?

After typing name/pasword neither Gmail nor Hotmail will load in Explorer. The screen is stuck on loading or says java script is needed. I would love steps to correct this annoying problem.

I would recommend that you un-install all prior versions of Java, then go HERE and download the latest version of Java v6.6.

Then test Gmail and HotMail.

One other question - Can you obtain access to either account when using Mozilla Firefox, found HERE?

Do U know how to organize email (From to) in gmail so that emails will appear in alphabetically.

I know in hotmail but gmail is bullshit. It is ok in outlook express but in web version it is too much complicated. I don't have now outlook express in my computer.

not sure why you would want it in alphabetical order and not show as latest in,

if it is for finding emails from specific folks then searching the emails for them is easiest.
clicking the important tag teaches gmail which senders to look out for ,then you can filter the emails by "important"

Hey geeks:major, I am really stuck in here as I cannot view my gmail account inbox. It is very wierd that I can log into the account but cannot view my inboxconfused.I really need a solution immediately as that is my only primary email account:cry. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you use Opera 8.5. The older versions of Opera can do some strange things.

I have been using Opera for a few years and have updated to 9.22 due to security flaws in the older versions.

Are you able to see your inbox in Gmail using another browser such as IE?
