Does OneNote Web Clipper work for you?

Question: Does OneNote Web Clipper work for you?

The OneNote Web Clipper suddenly stopped working on all my browsers and computers. I cannot login and I am prompted to enable 3rd party cookies. I have tried deleting all cookies, uninstalling the extension and reinstalling it, but it doesn't work.
I have tried this on Chrome, Firefox and Edge. On all browsers the OneNote Clipper stopped working.
I also found a thread that started today at Microsoft: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_onenote-mso_winother-msoversion_other/onenote-clipper-stopped-working-today-in-chrome/20669212-dc0c-43a0-84bb-e5390dd97bf9
Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Does OneNote Web Clipper work for you?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A real tough one....The Send to Onenote 2010 is supposed to work on Windows 7-64 machines. The "button" is available only after going to "help" from within Onenote 2010 but does not show up using IE8 any other time. Before I reformat and reinstall Windows 7-64, does anyone know what I have done wrong? The version of Office 2010 is the Click-To-Run version which is also the downloaded version. I assume it is also 32 bit.

Answer:Send to Onenote 2010 does not work

If this doesn't help do a search "Onenote" in upper right corner for your question/ answer.

Hi Techs,
My OneNote notebook at work will not open/sync. We use this to put our weekly reports in so the Mgr can read them. It wont sync. The error is:

"We can't access this section file because there's a problem with the network. We'll try again later. (Error code: 0x3B)"

Answer:OneNote notebook at work will not open/sync

Hi

Is this OneNote workbook on a shared network drive?
If so its likely that a link is corrupt, so to test create a new OneNote workbook and see if that sync's?

If this is a corporate network you may need to chat with your IT team as it may be a permissions issue.

I have been unable to get Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 to start minimized. I have already right clicked on the Shortcut icon, chosen Properties, selected Run: Minimized, and then closed the dialog box by clicking OK (and I have revisited the Properties dialog box to be sure my selection was saved). Still, this application will not start up minimzed. Also, I have been unable to find any command line switch for OneNote that will direct it to open as a minimized application.

Anyone have a solution? I like to have OneNote available to me whenever I am at my computer so I want to have it in my Startup folder (or the appropriate Registry location); however, it is a nuisance to have to minimize it every time I turn on or restart my computer.

Thanks,

DaveW

Answer:Minimizing OneNote on startup, Can Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 be started minimized

Hi Dave and welcome to the forums

There are 2 ways of doing this, either to have a shortcut in the system tray or the Quick Launch area (or both, if you wish).
To place a shortcut in the system tray:
Click on 'Tools' and 'Options...'.

Click 'Other' and check (tick) the option 'Place OneNote icon in the notification area of the taskbar'. Click 'OK'.

To place a shortcut in the Quick Launch area, locate the 'Microsoft Office OneNote 2007' shortcut in the start menu, right click on it and select 'Add to Quick Launch'.

Windows 8.1 Desktop PC Android 4.2 on Asus Transformer TF300T

I have Onenote 2013 Desktop as part of office and also the free version of Onenote on Android. The latter has a notebook only on OneDrive. When I open that notebook from the desktop I am told that the 'account' does not have rights to edit the notebook. It says the certificate is somehow wrong. If I accept that then I can edit the notebook but it does not sync the changes back to Android. It does work the other way around.
Any thoughts please?

[Edit] The message on the Desktop Onenote...
we're sorry, your account doesn't seem to have permissions to edit this notebook.

Backgound infoI store research files within Microsoft Office Pro OneNote.I paste within Microsoft Office Word off-line internal hyperlinks that then usually link to these research documents within Microsoft OneNote. ProblemWhen I click these links in my MS Office documents they now (In my new Yoga 500) link to the Win 10 OneNote App. and do not therefore connect to my research documents.I can't find a way around this and there are now hundreds of these links that are misdirected. Help appreciatedCan i fully remove the Win 10 OneNote app (without, of course, hampering the MS Office Pro OneNote). Would so appreciate your help. Thanks. Mick

Answer:New Yoga 500. Compatibility issue with Microsoft Office Pro OneNote & the Win 10 OneNote app

Hello, Go to the Control Panel, Default Programs, Set your default programs. There, you should be able to select "Microsoft Office Pro OneNote" instead of "Win 10 OneNote app" as the default program to associate with OneNote URLs.

Hey everyone! I purchased the Thinkpad Yoga 14 around mid-July and love it, but I can't use the pen's erase button in Onenote 2013. It wasn't working in Photoshop for a while, either. It works with every other Office program that supports pen input (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.) I did some research, and read a few comments that said Windows 10 fixes the issue with the erase button.  I upgraded to Windows 10 today, and while the erase button works in Photoshop now, it still isn't working in Onenote. I'm at a loss here. I can't figure out how to fix this for the life of me, and nothing else I come across online has been helpful. Does anyone know how to fix this??? I use Onenote to thumbnail drawing concepts and comic pages; so, I do a ton of sketching and am using the eraser every few minutes. Not having access to a quick erase button is really frustrating.  Edit: Nevermind. I figured it out on my own. For whatever reason, I had to go to the pen control panel and tick the box "Use the top of the pen to erase ink (where applicable)". That seems to have fixed the issue.

Hi, I recently did a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my X230T, and also installed Office 2013.I need to use the digitizer with OneNote 2013 heavily for taking lecture notes.  As I did when I was using Windows7, I set the side button on the digitizer to "eraser" and expect that it works properly. However, it is not the case.Yes I can write with the tip without any problem. Unfortunately, when I tried to press the button to switch the tip from the pen mode to the eraser mode, the behaviorof the digitizer becomes pretty strange. (1) If I remain the tip close to the screen, it would not switch to the eraser mode(2) if I move the tip a little higher and let the cursor disappear, then hold the button and move the tip back to the screen, I SOMETIMES get the eraser mode; but it doesn't switch back to the pen mode even if I release the button.I need to again move the tip far away from the screen and release the button to get the pen mode back. I downloaded the up-to-date driver from Wacom but it doesn't help. Also, I cannot find the driver for this functionality for Windows 8.1 on Lenovo website;the latest version of multitouch driver only supports Windows 7 and older versions of windows. Does anyone experience the same problem as I did?Can somebody help? Thanks a lot!

Hi Zoan,

My name is Manu T S From Dell Social Media Team.

In order to send the One Note as an attachment you should save the notebook either in *.onepkg format or in pdf, then mail it

Note: if you save it in *.onepkg fromat then the recipient must have onenote installed on his/her computer.

Refer to the following link for further help in sending the onenote as an attachment:

I have spent hours trying to do something that should be simple, and have given up in frustration.
I imported my Evernote notebooks into OneNote for Windows 10 successfully. According to Microsoft, I should be also able to view these notebooks in OneNote 2010. This has proved to be impossible. I can view and work with the notebooks in the Windows 10 app, but I can find no way to view these notebooks in OneNote 2010.
The notebooks are in OneDrive online and I can see them there, but there is no option to open them in OneNote 2010.
The links to the notebooks show up as internet shortcuts when I view my OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer, but if I try to open any of these in OneNote 2010, nothing happens.
If I go to OneNote online, there is no option to use OneNote 2010 to open any of my notebooks.
So am I just being dense? Am I missing something obvious? (It wouldn't be the first time!!)
Or is there some secret way of doing something that should be simple?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on my computer about a week ago.
Also, I've installed the Office 2016 Preview (by downloading it from the Microsoft web page). My question... is there any way to turn the Office OneNote into the default application of taking notes? I.e., the one that uses Edge when creating a note for a web, and the one that opens from the Notifications panel.
The thing is the Office 2016 installation cannot be customized, so I wasn't able to prevent it from installing OneNote. On the other hand, the embeded on Windows version of the app doesn't seem to like being uninstalled either. And to sum up, it's not allowed to change the default application for the "ONENOTE-DESKTOP" protocol on the Default Apps section of Settings.
Any ideas??

I have many open and many closed notebooks, on various local, network and clousd drives.

Is there someway to collect all the notebook names and file locations together in one catalog? Certainly File>Info knows these exist, but browsing each one individually is not convenient at all (and hurts my finger to mouse down the list so much.)

Answer:OneNote: How can I make a catalog of all my OneNote notebooks?

I would create a Folder on a drive and Copy all the files to it. Then I'd right-click that Folder and choose Command Prompt Here [may have to hold down the Shift key while right-clicking], once that Command Prompt is open I'd type dir /s/o>dir.txt [note the space before /s] which creates a list of all the files. The /s includes directories/Folders and the /o organizes by name.

There's most likely other ways to do the same. You could change the dir.txt to something more descriptive but the main thing is the .txt file will be in the same directory/Folder [directory was DOS days and renamed to Folder back in Windows 95]. Double-click that file to open in Notepad [default] or open it in a word processor program where you can save it with that program's extension such as WordPerfect's .wpd or Word's .doc or newer .docx format.

So I read somewhere on [H] that someone was using OneNote to successfully keep track of their deployed hardware and quirks that go along with it etc.

I have access to Office 2010 via site license but the issue of course is that a local project can't be accessed from anywhere but the local machine. Then I came across OneNote Web App which is free via office.live.com

My question is; Is there any issue with the web app in terms of essential functionality that is missing when comparing it to the local app? I noticed that I made an Office Live account in September 2009 but haven't used it since. Can't recall why I didn't use it but obviously there was something I didn't like about it.

Any insights into OneNote Web App will be much appreciated.

Answer:Office 2010 OneNote vs OneNote Web App (free)

Not sure if this helps, but you can share the Onenote notebook with multiple computers. Simply create the notebook on a network share and have multiple computers open it from there. All computers will sync any changes in near realtime when Onenote is open.

Although Onenote allows syncing the notebook to Windows Live, this is one option I haven't tried or played with.

Hi guys,

as my nick states i am absolutely clueless how to get my Wacom Bamboo working again...

I had to repair my Office 2007 Installation because Word and Excel crashed instantly after starting. This began when i installed two official Microsoft Addins.

After repairing Office it worked again but by now i am unable to write anything on my tablet. It only works for navigation (mouse-like) and Windows-Journal can't get startet anymore by now because the "inking component" can't be started. ('Windows Journal cannot start. There was an error initializing inking components. IF this problem persists after restarting, contact your system administrator.')

Things i've tried so far that didn't work:

- Reinstalling the optional TabletPC components from Vista
- Tried to start Windows Journal in Repair mode ("journal.exe /repairnotewriter") -> Windows Journal still refused to start
- Reinstalling WACOM Bamboo Drivers (different versions)
- Repairing Office (+ OneNote)
- Googled for hours what the problem might be... there is no knowledgebase article from microsoft that helps with this problem.

The Bamboo works fine in Photoshop ...

I wasn't able to use a windows restore point since the feature was disabled for some odd reason.

Has anyone the slightest idea how i could make it work again (except reinstalling -> I had to reinstall 1 week ago and it took me 2 whole days to get the system updated and every software installed)?

I have OneNote 2010 installed and don't want the Windows 10 OneNote APP. How can I remove the app or keep it from opening when I click on shortcuts like this:
onenote:///O:\OneNote_Catalog\Catalog\Root.one#section-id={4B915525-1062-4367-B052-4B5CE174AF49}&end

The uninstall option appears greyed out:

The default app shows the association to OneNote 2010, but the darn Win10 App keeps opening (above shortcut)

The default protocol (ONENOTE-CMD) won't let me change from the app to OneNote 2010.

Answer:OneNote: Can I uninstall the OneNote APP from Windows 10?

OK, after some messing about, I found in the registry the ProgID for each program.
In my case:
ONENOTE (2010) was AppX333jbhpaq2hjpyd097614409g4kz15cw
and
the Windows 10 App was AppXn8vagw663cz9m3j0rmkddxpbq9x0716k

So, I found the names of the protocols in the registry (above picture) and replaced the ProgId in

HKEY_USERS\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\UrlAssociations\ONENOTE-CMD\UserChoice\ProgId
replacing AppXn8vagw663cz9m3j0rmkddxpbq9x0716k with AppX333jbhpaq2hjpyd097614409g4kz15cw

Et Voila!
It worked just fine, though the Win10 UI still shows the protocol associations in the picture above.
But now, the OneNote 2010 program opens the link. My desktop links to notebooks & notebook sections now open on-click.

Hey i have a large .mpg file and i want to clip a section out of it. Do all programs need you to re-assemble all the parts before you play? I did a google search and there seems to be TONS of "editors". And they seem to do so many other things it all seems really complicated to go through all the programs. I would worry wich ones have spyware or would de-stabalize my system if they're done by amateurs.

Any Suggestions?

does anyone know what happen to that "old" programming language, called clipper, like the old dbase language? what is clipper called today or computer programming language is the most similar to clipper?

Answer:ca-clipper 5.3b for dos/windows

OMG! My first job in the computer field! I was the install guy for a point of sale/accounting software for specialty gift shops, which was written in Clipper for DOS. Had to setup that program on point of sale computers for the front, and in the workstations in the office for the accounting part. They kept using the DOS version til past Win98 days, when I left that company. When I first got there they were using Artisoft LANtastic for the networking, on coax.

Pig of a DOS program, had to learn the art of fine tuning config.sys to get conventional memory up past 600.

The owners of the software company used to raise pit bulls...one of them came to the office every day, sorta the mascot of the office. His name was Clipper.

Anyways, I'm not a programmer, I'm a networking guy, but from what I remember in the days before I left that company, the programmers there were having a hard time migrating their program to a native Windows backend.

I believe Clipper for DOS remained for DOS

and one of the projects designed to migrate it to Windows almost made it..

each time i try to run that program i get the following error "Unrecoverable Error 5311; cannot create VM swap file"
where do i set the variables in Windows XP?.

Thanks!

Answer:Need help with clipper program!

Go to C:\windows\system32, and edit Autoexec.NT and Config.NT there is where the environment variables and DOS configuration must be set, every Dos Box that is opened will use the values within this files.

Don´t expect to see them if you type the SET command, but they are initialized and the clipper program will read them.

Question: Yankee Clipper fix

My YC has been dropping clippings. The YC website had me download a fix for that. Where I am now is that I have renamed to old YankClip.exe file to read YankClip.exeold, and now my YankClip[1] folder shows that old renamed file with a MS icon and the new file with a YC icon, just as was the case with the old file before I renamed it.

The YC instructions tell me to “Get the ZIP, stop the program, rename the old EXE, and finally copy the new file into the installation directory”. I wasn't sure at what point I was supposed to stop the program, I presume meaning the zip program, and how I was to do that, so what I did was to rename the old EXE first, and then download the new one without interrupting the program

Does what I did amount to “copying the new file into the installation directory"?

Since YC dropped clippings only sporadically, I am wanting to find out now if I did the fix right rather than just wait to see if the dropping problem happens again.

Thanks, grandpaw7

Answer:Yankee Clipper fix

Hiya

From what I'm reading, when they say 'stop the program', that may have been the YC program, not the zip.

The way I read it is as this..

Download the zip. Stop the YC program from running. Rename the exe to old, either like what you have done, or as YankClip.old, then open the zip, and extract the new exe into the same folder.

Is that what you did?

Am I the only one still having to modify and keep running mid '80's software, yes, prior to windoze. The s/w is run daily in a very large corporate in a win2000 environment.

Does anyone have any info on what I could use to help transfer the code to something more modern? Of course, the user interface would have to be rewritten.

Yep, I'm very old too.

I installed the plug in webclipper, from http://pc.freediskspace.com/Index.asp. Its not working right and I just want it off my computer. I get no response from their tech support, and I can't find the application under add/remove programs. What do I do? And I need a recomondation as to some good virus software to install on my 350 mhz Intell Pent. II. I have a creative 48x cd-rom, and a V.90 56k Us Robotics voice Fax modem. Would the wrong driver stop my fax from operating? Does anyone know where to get the right drivers? HELP!

Answer:Web Clipper-from freediskspace.com

I like Norton AntiVirus.

If you want to try one for free though, go to www.antivirus.cai.com - it's pretty good too.

Problem: Somehow, the Clipper Tool (part of Windows 7) has disappeared. I did not receive the installation disks with my computer. What can I do to reinstall the app?

Answer:MS Clipper Tool Disapeared

I guess you mean the snipping tool. It has probably simply disappeared from the Start menu so type snip in the Start > Search box. Snipping tool should appear above.

I have tried turning off my system restore then going to RUN and typing REGEDIT and doing a search for each virus then deleting but when I restart they are back again.

The files that mcaffee detects are

any help is appreciated

Answer:BackDoor-CJO, AD-Clipper & downloader-OX

I was seeing McAfee return Downloader-OX and two other adware / virus threats. If you will look in the far right of the McAfee notification window (at least with McAfee Enterprise Edition) you will notice what applications are causing you the trouble.

I couldn't see anything in my startup files - either through regedit or Hijackthis! - I simply deleted the infected files (which turned out to be mplayer.exe and TELNET.EXE) and Windows XP restored them.

I'll let you know if I run across anything else, but I seem to be running clean. McAfee seemed to catch the infection before it spread, but everytime I ran Media Player the virus seemed to try and reactivate. Telnet.exe seemed to be automatically being called at points, but after deletion and recreation I haven't seen the problem return.

This issue must be new enough to not have very many posts. McAfee's VIL was no help whatsoever

After getting my new XP computer, I downloaded the clipboard utility Yankee Clipper, which I used a lot on my older computer. However, I found out I downloaded the wrong version rather than the one I wanted and was used to. So I uninstalled it yesterday morning and instead installed the version I wanted. Then, I got to messing around trying to get YC on my startup and Quick Launch. Somehow, I messed things up so that YC wouldn't work. So I attempted to uninstall this second version of YC (the one I wanted). Add/Remove went through the usual procedure as though the uninstall worked fine. But it didn't. YC was no longer in Add/Remove, but it was big as life everywhere else although it still worked poorly. Then, I used System Restore to go back to yesterday morning before I uninstalled the version I didn't want. I wanted to start all over. So I tried to uninstall that version so I could newly install the good version. But now the bad version won't uninstall. When I try to do that via Add/Remove, I get a Wise Uninstall error saying "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file.

I have no idea what to do now. For one thing, I wonder if the error message means that the Add/Remove program now won't work for anything, or if that error message just applied to YC. I've thought about downloading free uninstaller but I prefer not to do anything till I can get some expert input.

Thank, grandpaw

Hi! I know, this is an old system. I program using VB but every now and then I need to make a change in an old, forgotten system and I really don't have any experience in Clipper. I hope I can find help in this forum.

I am trying to do a create. I have the following but i keep getting a TYPE MISMATCH error:

cPath = "C:\"
cStr = "TempTab"
SELECT 0
CREATE (cPath + cString)

What could I be doing wrong? I am trying to create an empty table to store the TempTab structure info in a new work area.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Clipper Summer87 Question

What are the datatypes for cstr and cpath?

I do not know clipper, but I would guess you need to caste them to be the same, or the same as CREATE supports.

Also, a quick google makes me think you need to use dircreate to create a folder...

I maintain some legacy programs written under dBase and compiled with Clipper.I have a couple of problems when running under some versions of Windows ? especially XPNormally the key-code for the left arrow key is identical to Ctrl-S> - both, when tested with a utitlity, are correctly shown as being ASC 19However, when running in a virtual DOS environment, while the left-arrow key works fine, the Ctrl-S> is ignored. I assume that Windows is intercepting the code for some other purpose.Using the Properties of the desktop shortcut to the DOS environment, I have tried various combinations of Compatibility (for Windows) and disabling the Windows Shortcut keys, but no still solution is found.Secondly: the programs frequently use the higher ASCII codes to build boxes on-screen. These generally work fine, but on occasion ? and I can find no reason for why this only happens sometimes ? the characters get mis-interpreted and produce other graphics characters.Would be grateful if anyone knows a solution ? especially to the key-code issue - or even just a pointer to someone who might know. Many thanksDr Philip Ramage

I have used Yankee Clipper for a number of years now and it has been a great deal of help to me, largely because of its simplicity. But after I got XP the YC icon on my System Tray started to disappear, not always, but when it did I couldn't find a way to get the YC window to display. When I would click on the YC icon on my desktop or go to YC in Windows Explorer, I would get a message that YC was already running and to look at the System Tray (where the YC icon was no longer there).

YC told me that the problem must have something to do with XP, but couldn't say what. YC suggested that I click Ctrl/Alt/Y. That sometimes brought up the YC screen but not always. It didn't restore the icon to the System Tray.

I wonder if anyone has a suggestion as to what might be the problem and how I can solve it.

grandpaw7

Answer:Disappearing Yankee Clipper icon

Perhaps it's not in your startup and should be (and used to be)?

Hit Start-->Run and type msconfig and hit enter.
Go to the Startup tab.
Do you see anything that resembles Yankee Clipper?
If you do and it is NOT checked, check it.
If you don't, reinstall Yankee Clipper. See if you're asked if you want it to start when Windows starts (or to put an icon in the system tray) and say "yes".

I am using Yankee Clipper III (YC3) under Win7 64bit. Occasionally it looses the boilerplates and I can't get them back other than by recreating them. Under Win XP, according to what I have been able to find, the boilerplates are kept in Program Files/YCIII. That doesn't seem to the the case for Win 7. I have restored the YCIII portion of Program Files X86 from a True Image Backup but the boilerplates are still not there.

Will someone please help me get around the problem of having to recreate the boilerplates each time YC3 looses them?

I want to ask about porting / converting ancient (20 years old!) dBase / Clipper source code and files to Modern Windows XP environment.

Should I use Codebase and re-compile the program for Microsoft C?

http://www.codebase.com/products/

Is there any other better / simpler ways to port text only applications?

Thank you.

Answer:Porting dBase/Clipper Source Code And Files

Are you asking if there's any way of automatically converting the source code or you asking whether you you should rewrite the application. Codebase will not convert an XBase DOS program to a windows program. From what I understand Codebase is a library that allows you to manipulate XBase databases (DBase, Clipper, Paradox etc) with a windows language such as Visual Basic.

Question: OCR and OneNote

I just typed about 60 characters but they never posted when I clicked submit. I have Windows 10, and am using Chrome. All is up to date.
I will copy and paste this.
In a nut shell office 2010 home and student with onenote does not allow for OCR to fix errors.
I have spent hours so if someone can sell me if my set up is capable and maybe a tip to get it working I would be very grateful.

Answer:OCR and OneNote

I have already mentioned to you that some users have been having issues with "disappearing text" when posting to BleepingComputer, and that "some" includes members of staff.  Thusfar we have been unable to determine a root cause.  For those who are experiencing this with any regularity we suggest that you always do a select all (Ctrl+A) and copy (Ctrl+C) prior to hitting the "Post" button.  If the post has disappearing text then immediately edit it and paste what you just copied.  It always seems to stick when doing an Edit.  With any luck the root cause will eventually be determined.

OCR means "optical character recognition" and is not connected in any way to spell check, which is what it sounds like you're describing.  If that's the case, see these DuckDuckGo search results for options on how to fix issues with spell check in Office 2010.

Main object is what can I use it for?

Answer:How to use OneNote

OneNote can be used to store various personal items, emails, notes or other items that might not be easily found if stored elsewhere.
Open OneNote & refer to the various options of what you can do with it, then open one of the suggested items & then refer to the "?" help at the RH top of the screen & read the help files.
The best thing it to open it & start experimenting on your own.

Dont know what vesion of Office and OneNote you using which would be helpful but general first advice is to delete the onenoteofflinecache at the following location C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\14.0" and is called "OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache. (note that appdata is a hidden location so need to in Explorer click View and tick Hidden Items) also delete all in the OneNote folder but back it up first to a new location.

I've never used OneNote before. But I'm intrigued by the MX version recently released on the Windows Store. It is a distinct separate version the the desktop version bundled with the Office 2013 Preview. The MX version of OneNote is a true Metro UI app.

I've long known OneNote has had features especially for tablets. Handwriting recognition is the one feature that interests me the most. Strange enough, the handwriting conversion feature doesn't seem to work on the MX version. But it does work with the desktop version.

The MX version doesn't have a ribbon bar, but a radial menu instead. The ribbon bar, on the desktop version, has the options to enter the drawing mode and convert to text. But the radial menu, on the MX version, doesn't seem to have the drawing mode option.

It seems odd OneNote MX doesn't seem to support pen input. I'm obviously missing something.

One caveat: I must use the pen on my Samsung Slate to draw in OneNote (desktop version). A touch type stylus won't work. This will limit the response to those on this forum who are using real tablets...

Answer:Anyone try OneNote MX?

I've answered part of my question. OneNote MX is NOT as full featured as its desktop counterpart. It seems that the MX version has an ink mode, but not writing to text conversion. There have been a number of raving reviews of OneNote MX. But IMHO opinion, it lacks some features. ALL of the desktop Office 2013 apps have a touch mode option, though I haven't explored it yet.

I'd still like to hear from anyone who has tried OneNote MX, especially those with a true touch device.

Question: OneNote lag

Hi all.

I've been introducing more and more data into a table in OneNote (2010 Professional) and it's starting to lag something terrible.

I used to have my data in another program, TreeDBNotes, but that was super slow and laggy so I started to change over to OneNote, but now that seems to be lagging up too.

The table is 13 columns wide and currently at 1500 rows. I've Googled "OneNote lag" - it seems to be a thing, but there's not much out there for a solution.

Access seems to be ok, but I want to have thumbnails of photos and hyperlinks so I chose OneNote. I also investigated various other tree database type programs but none were suitable for me and my needs.

Any suggestions please? Thnx

Answer:OneNote lag

It could be due to a lack of RAM as your specs show you have 4Gb of RAM & are using Windows 7 x64. This amount of RAM is adequate for normal computer use but when you start to use large database files it can slow down your computer.
Perhaps you could try increasing the size of your Page file which may help.

Hello,

Concerning MS OneNote that came pre-installed on my new PC:

Causing me all sorts of problems, with re-appearing files after back on my Desktop after
being (supposedly) sent to the Trash, etc.

Guess i was signed up for it "automatically," somehow.

Would like to trash it totally, as I don't need OneNote.
Can't find it listed in the Remove Programs.
How do I get rid of it, please ?

If not practical to delete it, how can I disable it ?
Seems, I have too sign in to it to be able to use it, and from there, presumably,
there is a way ?

But, a complete deletion of it would be my first choice.
How ?

Thanks,
Bob

I was wondering if anyone knows if Microsoft has any plans to introduce a product for their PocketPC operating system so that it can interact with Microsoft Office 2003's OneNote product. Currently the only solution you have is to buy a Tablet PC, which is ridiculous. I know that you can convert Outlook stuff to OneNote, but it would be nice to have the full, or at least part of the functionality of OneNote on a PDA. Any info or links to news or reports of this would be GREATLY appreciated. I really don't want to have to go buy a tablet PC so that I can use this great program. Also, if you know of any 3rd party utilities or anything like that, that too would be great. Thanks!

Hi!

All of a sudden - but probably after the latest Windows and/or OneNote App automatic updates - the built-in OneNote app tells me "Unable to connect. Check the net settings and try again later". This is what I get:

Then, I receive a message: "You cannot access right now. In order to use OneNote, you must be logged in. Try again in a few minutes". Then I click "Retry", and finally I get the login screen:

Then I can finally log in and use the stupid app. But if I close it, the next time I run it again (even two seconds later) the whole thing happens again.

Is this a known bug?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure this is the right forum for this as OneNote is not necessarily a business program. If not please point me in the right direction. Hopefully you have "Quick Notes" in the upper left side in the tabs line.

Question: Onenote 2003

I have installed my registered copy of OneNote 2003 on my new computer, running Vista. The icon for the program is on the bottom taskbar. But when I want to "send to OneNote" through the Tools drop down menu at the top, it sends it (or tries to - I haven't opened it yet) to the 2007 version. I have never opened any of the Microsoft Office programs on this computer (I'm using OPenSource programs). Where would I go and how would I change that option to go to my OneNote 2003? Answer:Onenote 2003

Well hmmm. the Extremely Complicated Version of this or the quite simple one?

If you're comfortable with the command line you could just remove the file type associated with OneNote 2007 but that could be messy. The other option is to simply uninstall OneNote 2007 which sounds like it is there....

If 2007 was installed or is present in the form of a trial, then it will be seen by the OS Before OneNote 2003 which is what is
prolly creating the issues you're having. I would recommend just removing OneNote2007. You may have to reinstall
OneNote 2003 because of some similar Libraries between the two but it's unlikely.

Try that and get back to me here.

Question: Onenote 2007

Hi, i have started using microsoft office 2007 onenote mainly to keep pages organized in when i have been researching something on the net, but if i want to copy and paste a line of text from a onenote doc to something else using the right mouse button to highlight ect. or keyboard shortcuts CTRL+C, CTRL+V or right click context menu options, onenote will not allow this.
An example say if i wanted to copy a address [a line of text]from a doc in onenote to google maps to find the location, i am unable to do this because the whole doc would be highlighted to copy not the specific line of text i wanted and the left mouse button just brings up a scalable greyed out box which wont select anything.
Is there a way of doing this in one note? Thanks.

Answer:Onenote 2007

I take it that there is no way to highlight and copy selected text from a document in onenote to another document outside of onenote ie a web page or for example into notepad?

I've fixed this now. I went to File=>Open Backup and opened each of the .one files from there individually and swapped them for the notes that were in there. I have no idea why it didn't restore the original backup in the first place.

I bought a new computer and I think I got Onenote restored but
I am missing the sidebar and don't know how to get it back.
I see the tabs at the top but I really like the sidebar. I've searched but can't find how to get the sidebar back.
Does anyone know how? Thank you.

I know that the OneNote extracted from a scan to Word does work but I stupidly omitted to note down the steps I took to make that happen. I then read the following when I keyed "OCR using One Note" into the Internet.
"To extract text from a single picture you've added into OneNote:"
1.Right-click the picture, and click Copy Text from Picture.
2.Click where you'd like to paste the copied text, and then press Ctrl+V.
I tried the above but it didnt work.
I then read somewhere else, "You can choose to copy the text from the printout and insert it as plain text in OneNote. To extract text from a single picture you?ve added into OneNote, right-click the picture, and click Copy Text from Picture.
The problem is that no matter what I do I can't find the instructions, Copy Text from Picture" anywhere.
I have placed this thread on two other Windows Forums with no luck and would very much appreciate some help.
I then tried to see what would happen if I attempted to update the OneNote I have by virtue of running Windows 10 and a message came up saying I could not as I am running 32 bit when I thought I was one 64 bit. Fed up by then I attempted to uninstall OneNote but it refused to go so I'm in a ness.

Question: OneNote Vanishing

Hi again!
This morning I went to use "OneNote" the icon is there, but when I click on it, it appears for a second and then vanishes and the program will not open. I have used it before so I know it was originally working a few days ago.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Answer:OneNote Vanishing

What version is this? 2010? 2013? Also, is this a "native" app that you installed or is it a Store version?

Ok, so I have a problem with the OneNote app right now, firstly me and my coworker use a shared notebook (its his and he shared the notebook to me) but the notebook wasn't syncing with each other, so I proceeded to delete his notebook, and mine also. now I have no notebooks in my app and there seems to be no way to download them, I already signed out of my account and tried again, restarted my laptop, but nothing good so far, anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:Issues with OneNote

Try accessing your notebook at the Onenote online page. Go here and sign in with your Microsoft account. (Or the one associated with this shared OneNote notebook)

I am having trouble with OneNote. Everytime I open up my regular notebook, it shows a yellow bar at the top that says "we couldn't merge some changes. Click here to see page versions with unmerged changes." I've tried clicking on it, not helpful. Then I tried to copy and paste the notes into a separate page, and it completely crashed on me. Please help me

I recently formatted my hard drive and I've re-installed Office, all my OneNote notebooks are synced to the cloud. I opened OneNote, newly installed, and signed into my Skydrive account but nothing syncs, nothing downloads from the server, so I have no notebooks. Opening Skydrive in a browser and downloading the notebooks doesn't sync them with the same copy on the remote server, and putting the notebooks in the appdata and My Documents location won't do anything either. I'm really at a loss here and any help would really be appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Solved: Can anyone help me with OneNote?

Because you now have a NEW user account and a new rebuilt machine, The records of the syncing is gone with the formatting of the drive.
I think you need to contact the "Skydrive" support for this one?

Greetings!

Just wondering if someone knows if the clipping tool is also in the One Note edition that comes with Windows 10?
Tried the regular Windows key + S, but no joy.

Thanks!

Windows key + S brings up Search on my Win10 Pro.

The Snipping Tool exists in Start, W, Windows Accessories and I have OneNote in the Notification Area with a choice of Send to OneNote. I haven't gone further with it yet.

Hello! I was wonding if I can backup OneNote? Like if I want to do a clean install of Win10 in the future. Right now I'm using Notepad for all of my notes but thinking about moving everything to OneNote if I could back it up.

-Thanks!!

Answer:Backing up OneNote?

OneNote is ALWAYS sync'd to OneDrive and backed up in AppData:

When you do a clean install and the reinstall OneNote(2013 Desktop version?) it will re sync for you.

I've been using Evernote for some time but decided to use OneNote instead but when I open it Microsoft are all over me getting me to login to my MS account which I don't want to do. I just want to use it offline without involving MS. Can I do that? I don't want to use OneDrive and I don't need to synch anything.
Thanks.

And not only that, there is no 'clip to Onenote' icon in the system tray either. It doesn't show in the list of icons to be displayed in the system tray!

Answer:Can I use Onenote offline?

Yes. Just sync your notebook with OneDrive first and then, OneNote automatically syncs your changes as you work. If at any time you lose your Internet connection or turn it off, any pending changes will sync as soon as you're back online. To check the last time the notebook synced or to sync manually, tap File.

Hi. I am new to windows. One of the most exciting things I am looking foreword to when I receive my HP Spectre 360x next week (!!) is using OneNote. I would like the full and most complete version. I know OneNote is typically free, but to get the best version do I need to purchase office? I don't really need office (I have other apps I prefer) but I do want OneNote.

Ive seen some features that they say you need the office subscription to get. Any insight you can give me here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi, is there any way to open 2 Onenote windows at once in Windows 10? I really miss this feature (along with the screen clipping that also seems to have disappeared or moved)

Answer:2 Onenote windows at once?

If you mean the desktop version and not the universal app, you can still do it.
Here I have 2 instances of OneNote open(in this case I just re-clicked the start menu icon again after the 1st instance was finished opening).
Use the system tray icon or + Shift + S for a screenshot(bottom right in picture).
