I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

I frequently use i a website called https://www.lectio.dk/lectio/133/forside.aspx. It is a website where i can see what lessons i have the next 2 days and see my homework and such. To get acces to the information i need a login, which i easily can remember. The problem is that i would prefer just to be able to click login when i come to the website, but it does not ask to save username and password

I have checked if the website is listed in the "never save"-list in options, and it is not there. I have never been asked to save the username and password.

PS. the website is in Danish.

Answer:Google Chrome not asking to save password

Go to the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button, which looks like a wrench (on the right hand side of the window)> Options > on the left hand side click on Personal Stuff and click on offer to save Password. Let me know if this helps :)

AOL will be shutting down AIM after 20 years of existence, on December 15, 2017, the company announced today.

The company said users will be able to use the service until the cut-off date and they will be able to download and install copies of the application until a few days before its end-of-life date.

AOL IDs, emails not affect
AOL said it plans to discontinue the instant messenger's infrastructure only. AOL email addresses (@aol.com) will continue to work as normal after December 15.

Data associated with AIM, such as files and past conversation logs, will also be deleted. AOL has advised users to save any files before the cut-off date.

The company left clues that it was planning to shut down AIM since earlier this year when it cut down access to AIM data to third-party apps.

AOL does not plan to offer a replacement instant messaging client for users.Click to expand...

End of an era after 20 years
The America Online Instant Messaging client, later rebranded as AIM, was the first major IM client to catch with the masses and was soon followed by MSN Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and the recent wave of mobile IM clients such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Signal, and others.

The AIM client was never popular outside the US, and it didn't age too well either.Click to expand...

Our organization has recently deployed the December 2017 patches that included security updates for Internet Explorer. Many users with the new patches (including KB4052978, and KB4054518) have difficulty in accessing several different websites or portions
of websites. The error that appears is the generic, "This page can't be displayed." This issue started immediately after installing the new patches, and is occurring in IE11 on machines running Windows 7, or Windows 10.
On every PC with the issue, the same webpage will load in Chrome without any errors. The problem is, even after uninstalling the updates and rebooting, the issue persists, as if the uninstallation failed to set the reg keys back to the original state. The
only fix working so far is to rollback to a system restore point pre-patch installation.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue this month?

Chrome OS is not taking off as Google might have wanted, but the company is not slowing down on development. To get more people to get into the world of Chrome OS, Google has come up with a rather impressive plan. Apparently, the search giant is working on a version of the Chrome web browser that replicates functions of Chrome OS right inside Windows 8.

According to The Verge, the latest developer version of Chrome browser for Windows 8 can be configured to run in Metro (Modern UI). However, the browser is suffering from several bugs so Metro mode doesn?t perform well enough and there are frequent crashes. More important than that, however, is that this new version of Chrome browser brings to the table Chrome OS design, Chrome app launcher, Google app menu bar and support for windows within windows. In other words, the stepping stones for Chrome OS in Windows 8, and a major coup by Google.

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a great holiday season like I did.
Just before Thanksgiving I got a new computer with Windows 7 and I switched to Google Chrome. So, I hope this is the right section to post my question about Google Chrome GMail.
Does Google Chrome offer an AUDIBLE notification when a GMail arrives? You know, something similar to "You've Got Mail" or any type of audible tone so I can hear it when I'm away from my desk?
If so, please tell me how I can get it.
Thanks

There?s a plugin for Google Chrome called Boomerang for Gmail, I?ve been using their email scheduler, very handy feature. But since it?s a paid option, i?m not ready to pay for this, I?m working in a non-profit organization. I?ve been trying to find an extension with similar features for free, but in each one there?s a limit to scheduled emails in a free version. Is there a free alternative? Thank you in advance.

Answer:Trying to find Google Chrome plugin for Gmail

As far as I know Google has a tight hold on their browser with plugins that they offer.  $4.99 a month isn't that bad and you should be able to write this off through the non-profit. Additionally many companies out there you can contact requesting if they will grant a license for a non-profit for free. If they accept they will be requesting that you share with them details as to what your non-profit identity is and a formal request to use their product for free. Then they will either grant you a free license/subscription or they will decline.I worked for a Not-For-Profit in the past, and Adobe for example can be contacted and you can be granted FREE licensing of their products. But they require extensive paperwork and a formal request. They dont just hand out free keys and subscriptions, but if you can prove that your a real Not-For-Profit or Non-Profit identity, they may grant free use of their product(s). It was considered a non-profit charity license that I was able to get for the Not-For-Profit identity.Additionally, I paid out of my own pocket for software that made my job easier at times. One of which was a one time $79.99 fee, but by which i still have use of today if I ever needed to use it and I just considered it no different than buying a tool for $79.99 to do my job easier. It looks like you can save money buying 1 year at a time vs monthly. However you could always contact them and see if they offer charity licensing for non-profit. Then be prepared to p... Read more

Well,
I have been reading on the net about possible solutions about this problem. But none of those worked at all.
Secure connections, such as accessing email accounts in Google chrome: Gmail, hotmail, facebook etc give me all this annoying message: Error 9 (net::ERR_UNEXPECTED): Unknown error

Now, a few hours back, it all worked perfectly. I havent installed anything or change anything.
Weird thing is, I get the same error in IE but not in Firefox and my outlook doesnt even load the mails.

I really like GChrome. Wouldnt like to change back to firefox, and certainly neither opera or IE

Does anyone know a working solution for this?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

This morning www.gmail.com would no longer load for me on my work computer. It was working fine in the morning and stopped somewhere after 10a. Our work uses gmail so I know it wasn't blocked intentionally. It does not seem to load in IE 8 or Firefox 3.5.3. I also just downloaded Google Chrome and it would not load there either.

The weird part is that my co-workers computer is able to load Gmail. I've tried re-setting the router. I've done a clear cache, and also a friend suggested I do this through the command prompt which I did.

I also called RCN (our cable service provider) and they had me do a winsock reset via command prompt but that did not fix the problem. They said they couldn't help me trouble shoot any further.

I have AVS Antivirus 8.5.421 installed and didn't see anything being "blocked" under advanced settings.

Can anyone help me fix this? Many thanks in advance...

Answer:www.gmail.com not loading in IE, Firefox or Google Chrome

If you have cleared the cache from the browser then try editing your Host file. Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc open the Hosts file with Notepad. Delete any lines after 127.0.0.1 localhost. Save the file. Go to Start/Run and type CMD and hit enter in the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and hit enter. Now type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. Now type ipconfig /renew and hit enter, then try again.

Okay the problem is peculiar.
I had chrome for long in my ol ubuntu installation. And that time it worked fine. Lastnight I reinstalled ubuntu freshly, so I had to download and install chrome (the current stable version from their site). Now this new chrome is asking to save password for every websites, except their own i.e. Google accounts.

Last time I also had this same version of chrome but the difference was that i got that version through updates starting from a lower version, so my all settings was saved. Now this new chrome is fresh and not offering to save passwords.

And at an ultimate bad moment, I deleted that lower version .deb package mistakenly '-.- Now all I have this new chrome.

Answer:Chrome not asking to save password.

Open Chrome, go to Settings and click the blue 'Show Advanced Settings' link at the bottom of the page.

In the Passwords & Forms section, remove the tick from the 'Offer to save passwords' box.

All of a sudden Chrome and GMail seem to have changed their viewing resolution, giving me a much larger look to a page and it is sorta fuzzy. Also, when I open Chrome or Gmail, all the icons on the taskbar get much larger as well.

I swear I didn't do anything to it. Maybe something happened with an update on Windows 10?

Whatever happened also affected the icons on my desktop and another browser (Maxthon), but I was able to correct them back to normal. and they open properly.

I've tried to find some way to fix this problem using the settings feature on Chrome, but couldn't find it. I can set the zoom feature and that seems to help reduce the image and the fuzziness, but it still isn't right.

Thanks for your help. You guys are the best.

Cheers,

My good ol' dad can't login to Gmail this morning ... here's what I (think I) know about what we've done to the system since last successful email login:

Loaded VLC Vista in my Dad's XP Pro laptop a couple of days ago, as suggested in Software Forum; test runs were fine. Sat down last night with Dad for first major "viewing" -- 2 errors messages, both saying VLC had crashed. Tried reloading disc a couple of times. Disc eventually loaded, but no sound. Another trial, same results. Checked system and VLC sound settings, all at or near maximum volume (Dad is hard of hearing).

Rebooted system (XP Professional), reloaded disc. and VLC operated normally, though a bit slow to open. Left system on overnight, but did not access email/Google Chrome.

This morning, a new development when we did; do not know if it is related. :confused Normally, Dad double-clicks Google Chrome, and goes right into the inbox of his Gmail acct. This morning, he is back at the sign-in screen, which he says he has never seen (we do have a tech who automated a bunch of stuff, but I don't know what he might have done here), and the password taped over the desk isn't working, nor is the message function going through to the cell phone from google to reset the password. And Dad ... is hollering for me and pointing at the dvd of Big Bang Theory.

Yikes. Any ideas? FYI, Dad does not have Admin rights, by design, in case this is impacting functionality/caus... Read more

Ever since Thursday, April 6, a problem has been occurring with google chrome where I have to re-log into facebook, reddit, youtube every time I close google chrome. I tried to resync my account but it didn't help much since when I open google chrome again it asks me to resync it. Basically any info past April 6 will not save or auto-log. The best hint for the problem I can find is that I configured about all my files on Local Disk>Users>[NAME] when I tried to find my appdata file when trying to get more FPS on a game (LINK: Fast forward to 9:26). So I went to the properties folder and accidentally checked the hidden button and unchecked the read all. And since that hid the Appdata folder (which was there before but I just didn't look carefully), I re-applied the read-only for all the files which might have messed up a few files. I tried to fix this by re-downloaded google chrome but didn't have much luck. I should mention that what I did corrupted the files for firefox but all my other games are fine. I ended up using a USB drive to get the installation for chrome. After downloading Chrome again the problem still persisted.

I notice an unpleasant GUI-level change that appears after the upgrate to 1511. The issue seem to exist on all machines after 1511 upgrade.

Firstly, Google Chrome shortcut pinned to Start Menu now appears on dark gray tile, instead of the regular "color accent" tile. Is this a bug or a feature?

Secondly, an attempt to pin the Chrome-generated GMail shortcut to Start Menu immedaitely loses its dedicated icon and gets a regular Chrome icon instead. E.g. before the upgrade it was possible to pin the GMail link to the Start Menu and it would retain its GMail icon. After the upgrade it is no longer possible to keep the icon.

This is ugly. Is there any known workaround for this behavior?

Answer:Google Chrome and pinning GMail to Start Menu after 1511

I'm not sure why it got moved to "Browsers and Email", since the issue in this case is with Windows, not with Chrome. Another example of (apparently the same) Start Menu pining issue is trying to pin the desktop Visual Studio 2015 shortcut to Start Menu. The shortcut pins successfully, but unfortunately loses its icon. The standard Visual Studio icon gets replaced with some default blank icon.

In other words, after 1511 update many "non-trivial" shortcuts lose their icons when pinned to Start Menu.

Please help, I have been trying to get rid of this for a while, but this Save On has latched onto my computer. I don't know what to do and I keep trying to delete it, but it just won't. I've seen a lot of threads on here that help get rid of it, but they seem to be for each separate computer, so I'm hoping someone on here can help me???

Thanks in advance

Answer:How to get rid of Save On extension on Google Chrome

Hello,
Before we start please read and note the following:
Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Upload a File button which you can use to attach your reports. Attach all reports.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.

I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

This is so frustrating. I've never install any antivirus in my life but I've been very careful with files I dowload over the internet so I've never have any problem. This is the first time I face this kind of problem.

Basically I have a go save extension on google chrome which keep on appearing even if I delete them through extension page as well as through remove program. And it seems after few weeks I have 3 extensions that keep on appearing after I delete them.

I have done the FRST scan and upload them here

Answer:Go Save google chrome extension

Hello,
Fix with AdwCleaner

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save the file to your desktop.
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
Follow the prompts and click Scan.
When finished, please click Clean.
Upon completion, click Report. A log (AdwCleaner[S*].txt) will open.

Please include the contents of that file in your reply.

======================

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Is it still safe to save your passwords on Google Chrome? I actually find it convenient coz I don't have to type in the log in details especially that most of my passwords are alphanumeric and quite hard to remember. However, I don't think this will still be a good option for business software, apps and website accts especially that hackers are everywhere now. What could be an ideal and safe option for storing all your log in details? Thanks.

Answer:Google Chrome Auto Save Pw, Is It Safe?

This is a SOFTWARE issue.
There is no real difference, in security, when saving passwords and logins in Chrome or Firefox or any other mainstream web browser.
You can use a separate Password Manager.

I have a W510, Win 7 pro, 64 I find that Lenovo password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome (it only fills the password section and I have to manually enter gnail user name). In firefox it fills both the user and pass of the gmail - so no problem here. Any thoughts how I might be able to fix this problem in IE and Chrome?

A few days ago I noticed a marked reduction in the speed of my computer as well as misc new problems. As of this morning I have deduced the following:
- Internet is slower than it was a few days ago
- Gmail will not load in Chrome or IE9, sometimes I can get the slow bandwidth Gmail to load (25% of the time)
- Google voice will mot load in Chrome or IE9
- Google.com will load just fine in both browsers
I have done a clear cache, deleted all my temp files, uninstalled various old programs, uninstalled and reinstalled chrome and even did a system restore back to July hoping that would resolve the issue, IT DID NOT.
Thatís why Iím looking to you for help, please help me.
Thanks in advance,

Hi

I got infected by using Frostwire back on the 23rd/24th March, needless to say that is already removed!

Suspected something was wrong straight away scanned my laptop running windows 7 with the free anti virus that I had installed: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

It found various problems and removed them, detailed in the log attached.

All problems are gone apart from when searching using Google Chrome (don't use any other browser so only IE installed in addition), in IE doesn't happen, it redirects me all the time as per other threads in this area.

I then realised I coudl have installed a copy of Norton 360 on here as have 3 licenses, 2 to use still. So un-installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and installed 360. Scanned etc and still have this one lingering problem.

I have gone through and completed the following before posting:

General house cleaning:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=230267

Run & Read me First:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Even tried using the points in this thread but no luck either
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=221915

Only program I can't run is RootRepeal errors out.

1st 4 uploaded files:
2 x Malware scans with infection finds all other subsequent ones ran found nothing
1 x Rootrepeal crash text
1 x SuperAntiSpyware log

Will attach the other next
Please help!
Thanks

Answer:Google Redirect malware in Google Chrome browser only

Combofix.txt
MGlogs.zip

Attached as well

Also ran Norton 360 full scan twice and found 16 tracking cookies in total nothing serious would attached logs but can't find them to attach. Doesn't say name or anything within Norton.

Everytime the redirect takes me to a 'bad' page Norton detects and attack and popups telling me its blocked it.

Let me know what else I can try
Many thanks in advance for your time

Source: Google Browser: Google Chrome And Chromium Download

I recently tried to download the latest version of the open source version of the Google browser called Chromium. A search on the Internet did not reveal a website with a download location in the first results. The only thing that came up was the build server of the Chromium project which listed all the builds of the web browser for download.

Answer:Google Browser: Google Chrome And Chromium Download

I didn't know Google lets you download the whole code for Chrome, that's pretty cool. I use Google Chrome and I like it. Lot faster than IE 7. It's a very good base for new web browsers if people are using it to work from.

Data Saver for Chrome

Reduces data usage by using Google servers to optimize pages you visit.

??By enabling this extension, Chrome will use Google servers to compress pages that you visit before downloading them. Pages accessed using private connections (HTTPS) or in incognito tabs will not be optimised or seen by Google.

Get more visibility into your data usage by clicking on ?Details? to see how much data is used by the sites that you visit. This might help you make more informed decisions regarding your usage based on the type of connection you are using.

??You can also enable Data Saver on Mobile Chrome on Android from the Settings menu.

??Find out more about Chrome?s Data Saver at Use less data with Chrome?s Data Saver - Chrome Help
Safe Browsing with Data Saver
On Android and iOS, when Data Saver is enabled, Chrome uses Safe Browsing technology to protect you from malware and phishing attacks. Chrome will warn you if you're about to visit a dangerous site.

Answer:Data Saver for Google Chrome - Save Bandwidth

Update: Data Saver is now out of Beta and available on Chrome Web Store.

After using this extension for a week, I saved 80 MB of data from 400 MB total of HTTP browsing. Remember Incognito and HTTPS secure connections are excluded.

I recommend this for limited bandwidth data plans.

Eliminated a bunch of cookies, history..etc. Refreshed and many apps such as bittorrent, iTunes, real downloader and others were eliminated thru process. I DID receive a list of "removed apps" (very nice) and continued to re-install newly. Google chrome was RE-enabled after I suffered many difficulties , unable to use it as browser after somehow I deleted it. ONE issue, Google chrome browser does NOT allow me to 'save as' posts off of FB as JPEG. Only as chromefile. No serious issue as I use EXplorer for FB. Any comments? I work off of desktop, even though compu has windows 8. Don't like working thru tiles due to presentation page lay out.

Answer:Google Chrome won't save Facebook posts in Jpeg format

As I don't use either Chrome or FB so I'm not the best one to answer. However, as you are still waiting I did find this:"Go to Wrench Icon > Options > Under the hood(bonnet) tab scroll down to the download section and click 'Clear auto opening settings".Most likely you've already tried that.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Source Portable Google Browser Google Chrome

A good way of testing new versions of the so called Google browser is by running a portable version of Google Chrome. The only problem that arises is that it can be quite problematic to stay up to date with all the web browser updates that the Google Chrome team releases regularly. Long time Ghacks reader Caschy is regularly creating new portable versions of the Google Chrome browser at his website after official browser updates.
New versions of the Google browser can be regularly downloaded from the website. The browser can then be executed by launching the file ChromeLoader.exe for a normal program start or IncognitoChromeLoader.exe for starting the anonymous mode of the Google browser.

As the topic says, windows had a forced reboot approx a week ago, and after the restart my Google Chrome changed fonts and the save window looks like it's from Windows 98.  Also when you start up chrome there looks like a box covering the tabs, minimize, maximize, and close buttons.  Once you highlight the covered items the box goes away.

I've tried running many cleaners, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials, tdsskiller, hitman pro, roguekiller, iexplore, adwcleaner, and ccleaner.  Also I have spywareblaster installed as well. All were run both in regular, and safe modes with and without networking.  Nothing major was found.  I even tried uninstalling chrome completely and wiping the registry keys and such from the system and fully putting in a clean install, but it's still there.  I've tried using firefox and internet explorer to see if they look off too and they don't.  I'll attach a photo comparing chrome, internet explorer, and firefox save windows.

Therefore I need the help of you guys and gals who know more about registry keys and such than I do.

Hi, some days ago I noticed something went wrong and I'm completely unable to access Gmail's front page from my computer, that means I can't even get to the Login page. I found about it on Chrome, then I tried on Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3, and finally on Internet Explorer... None worked...

If I click on "Gmail" at the top of Google's search page... it inmediately throws me this:

[ B]SSL connection error.[/B]

Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.

More information on this error
Below is the original error message

Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error

I am also unable to set Google's search settings, when I try to save my search settings before running a web search it says:

Your cookies seem to be disabled.
Setting preferences will not work until you enable cookies in your browser.

But I checked and Chrome's cookies are enabled, I think whatever is causing this goes beyond the browser's settings, since I get this on Chrome, Firefox and IE.

What may have caused this:

I recently downloaded one of those registry cleaners, called CCleaner (and now i regret it... :P) As I was about to run it for the first time I selected several checkboxes that were unselected by default.

Which included both Firefox and Chrome's:
- Cookies
- Download history
- Internet Cache

Hi Tech Support forum users,

When I am downloading the .iif file into my download folder, the file is opening the browser window instead of downloading in the download folder.

In detail:

I have a software, where there is a "Download" button to download the iif file into my desktop download folder. but the file is opening in the browser window.

I think something needs to unassign the extension file.
It happens in all the browsers.

Can you someone please help me soon. I will be waiting for your answer.

Answer:my browser has not been able to go onto my google chrome why

I assume your browser IS Google Chrome.Try copying your home page address (swipe it so that it is highlighted blue then use Ctrl + C keys to copy it). Now open Internet Explorer and paste the address into that by highlighting it and using Ctrl + V keys. Hit Enter and let us know if IE makes it to your home page.See also this, just in case it applies:http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Google's Chrome Browser Is Now No. 2

Google came late to the Web-browser fight, but it's already taking on the frontrunner. Its free Chrome software has overtaken Mozilla's Firefox as the second-most-used browser in the world, behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which comes with its Windows operating system.

Answer:Best web browser like Google chrome?

Hey there -

Are you looking for 'CHROMIUM BASED' browsers? Basically the same thing as google chrome but slightly altered (usually for privacy concerns) - There are a butt-load of these available for free download.

I had to uninstall google chrome browser because it wouldn't keep configuration settings BUT I now use SR Ware browser IRON and haven't had any issues. And since my chrome profile was already synched to my gmail address I was able to transfer all my extensions, bookmarks, etc from chrome to SR Ware and not lose anything. HAPPY CAMPER!

Anyway you can find a bunch of these chromium browsers on places like Softpedia or Cnet.

You can download SR Ware IRON at Softpedia here.

Answer:google chrome browser

Microsoft didn`t install them, you did. And by that I mean you are letting windows install updates before you look them over.

You should be able to remove IE 11 by going to Control Panel / Programs and Features

Then View installed updates up in the left hand corner, then find IE 11 in the list and uninstall it.

You may want to change your windows update settings to check for updates, but let you decide whether to download and install them.

Your pc should not be doing anything without your knowledge

And you should be able to install Chrome right from google.com

I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox browser and am quite happy with it, but I like to try new things. I've seen some pretty positive comments about Google Chrome and have a couple of questions before I decide to give it a tryout.

Is it as customizable as FF? I like a clean interface with a minimum of extras (see Desktop screen shot). No superfluous toolbars, messengers, ads. Does Chrome have compatability with RoboForm? Is it compatible with Free Download Manager? (with FF, I have Flashgot add-on to use FDM). Can i assume Chrome is a tabbed browser?

Thanks for any input... Raybro

Google Plans to Launch Web Browser

According to the Washington Post, Google plans on launching a web browser in the near future. Personally, I don?t know why Google would want to make its own browser, especially considering all the cash the company gives Mozilla every year. It just seems like it would hurt Firefox big time to lose that money and have to compete with Google all at the same time.

Google Inc plans to launch a web browser called Google Chrome in a challenge to Microsoft Corp's Internet Explorer, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website on Monday. The browser launch is likely to be announced soon, the paper said, citing unnamed sources. Google did not immediately respond to calls and emails seeking comment.

Hi, Read quite a bit about how good the Chrome Browser is I felt I'd like to try it out.
However when downloading it required me to register and then confused me with many additives.
I deleted/uninstalled it.
Is it possible to download and use Chrome as a straightforward simple browser without registration and all the other nonsense?
If not I'll just stick with my reliable Waterfox.
Thanks.

Toshiba Satellite P875 laptop with Windows 7

I am using Google Chrome as my default browser. I haven't had this (new) computer on much so far as I still mostly use my desktop, which has Vista Home Premium. I turned my laptop on tonight and when I opened the browser the icon shortcuts on the opening page -- for ChromeWebStore, YouTube, GMail, Google Search, WeatherBug, etc. -- are just white, square boxes.

On my desktop computer it's showing the normal icons for these extensions/shortcuts, whatever you call them.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Answer:Something is off with Google Chrome browser

I use Google Chrome. That looks like the recent pages startup page which would normally show common websites you visit. They are blank if you have just installed Chrome or have recently deleted your history. If you look below those boxes you should be able to switch between Most Visited or Apps. I think you're just looking for the Apps page.

I ran malwarebytes, did the cleanup, and it is still slow. What else can I download for free to fix it?

Answer:Browser Google Chrome is slow.

Slow to open?
(A long time between asking Chrome to start and the time when the window appears.)

Slow to display a webpage?
If so, give us a sample link that is slow for you.
Does that website open "fast" using IE?
(In other words: Chrome is slow with respect to what? Past performance and/or IE.)

What do you get when you run this test using Chrome?
Peacekeeper - free universal browser test for HTML5 from Futuremark

Do you get better results for that test using Chrome while in the safe mode with networking?

How about if you start Chrome without any extensions?
Google Chrome Safe Mode
(some extensions might still load - but you can check for that)

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium

Today when using Chrome several issues began:
multiple programs downloaded on their own including Conduit and Iminent. I have uninstalled these from my computer
pop-ups began appearing in the bottom, left-hand corner. the most common reads "browser update available" with a mock Google Chrome logo. Other pop-ups have included fake Facebook messages and Match.com ads
when I search using google Chrome, a full page and 1/2 of ad listings appear before the searched items
when I am on a webpage and click a link to go through to the next page, a new page tab appears with text that relates to the previous page but is clearly malicious.
when I sign into my work email, an error pops up in the middle of the screen that reads: Internal Error: ID"_GPL_swf" used multiple times!
when I open Google Chrome, the website that automatically pops up is search.conduit.com

I have run Malware Bytes and C Cleaner. Neither have detected anything. I have ensured that my pop-up blocker is on for Google Chrome

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hey guys,I just thought that I would post a small thread about it since there's still a lot of people that don't know about it, but Google Chrome now have an official 64-bits version that I suggest you to install if you're running Windows 64-bits. Chrome takes a lot of resources right off the bat due to the way it works: separate sandboxed processes for each opened tab, extension and plug-in. However under Windows 64-bits, when you run a 32-bits process, that process is being emulated in a VM which takes more resources than if it was run natively on 64-bits. This being said, if you download and install Google Chrome 64-bits on a 64-bits version of Windows, it'll take much less resources in the end than if you were using the standard Google Chrome which is 32-bits.To download Google Chrome 64-bits, simply go on the Google Chrome download page here:https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/Then click on the Download Chrome for another platform and under Download for another desktop OS, select Windows 8/7 64-bit. The installation procedure is the exact same as the standard Google Chrome. When you think that your system is using a lot of RAM (and CPU, but less) and that you have between 4 and 6GB of RAM, check if you're using Google Chrome 32-bits first. If you are, uninstall it and install the 64-bits version, it helps in a lot of case. This tip applies pretty much to every programs too, if you have the choice between installing the 32 or 64-bits version of a program ... Read more

Answer:[Web Browser] Google Chrome 64-bits is now available

I have had a problem with my Google Chrome browser for the last week.

When I double click on the browser it opens to the main page and search engine. However, when I try to go to any sites or type in any addresses from that point it tells me that I am not connected to the internet.

I can connect to the internet fine when using internet Explorer, so it seems to be something with this particular browser.

It is up to date with the latest version and I did try downloading the google chrome browser again but it still has the same issues. Any suggestions?

The commuter I am using is a dell vostro 3700, running windows 7.

Should Chrome browser be tried on this machine or not, based on the system requirements, specifically the processor, as described in the page here: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=95411
?

That article says, Pentium 4 or later processor required. This machine has Celeron 2.4 GHz, with Windows XP service pack 3. Should Chrome be expected to work well or work badly on this machine?

Answer:Google Chrome browser - unsure if I should try

It will work as well as any other application will. Slow hardware is just that, slow hardware. Google Chrome will certainly run, but will be limited in terms of speed by the aging processor.
