Is the Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD compatible with Lenovo Ideapad 520?

Question: Is the Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD compatible with Lenovo Ideapad 520?

Hey guys, I have the Lenovo Ideapad 520 (80YL00RXIN) and wanted to replace the CD Drive with the Samsung 850 Evo 250GB Solid State Drive in order to increase the Boot Speed and over-all speed of the laptop. So, the question is, Is the Samsung 850 Evo SSD compatible with my laptop? And will it fit in terms of size, in place of the CD Drive? Also, is it recommended to add the SSD? Any downsides to doing so? Lastly, will I, someone who knows the basics about computers and the internal components of a computer, be able to install the SSD myself? Or would I rather outsource it to someone who deals in things like this? Thank you. Regards,Neel.

Preferred Solution: Is the Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD compatible with Lenovo Ideapad 520?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I bough a 250 GB Samsung SSD EVO 850.I got a Lenovo X201 computer. My SSD is not recognized by the MAGICIAN Samsung programso i cannot clone my HDD to my Samsung SSD. Please HELP me !!!

Answer:Samsung SSD 850 250GB not recognized by Lenovo X201 Samsung Magician Program

Hi, nocoin, and welcomeIs the SSD installed into the main bay of laptop or external USB box?Samsung Magician application is a tool not for cloning operation. Use Samsung Data Migration Software intead. It's a simple, free of charge, reduction of the Acronis True Image Home application. Then, after installing SSD into the laptop, use Magician app for disk management. Also, you might use another software for the cloning:Clonezilla, Macrium. As well Acronis ATIH full version (I'm not sure whether trial version supports entire drive cloning).

Hello dear Community! I've got a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 notebook, purchased 4 years ago.Not so long ago the HDD just went wrong again so now I'd like to put an SSD in it instead of a new HDD.Here's my first found: SSD Kingston 240 GB SSD, V300, 7mm (other specs: 2,5 inch, SATA3 interface). So, my question #1 is whether this SSD will be okay for my machine or not?If not could You just suggest me another ones that are compatible with it for sure (around the same capacity)? Another but not so important question #2: is it possible that changing the drive manually (no guarantee anymore) will cause the original (with-purchased) Win7 OS not working? Thank You very much for Your response in advance! Best regards,Zsolt László

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - compatible SSDs

hi Zsolt,

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone used the Kingston 240 GB SSD on the Z570 but it should work as it's a 2.5" drive (ensure that you can return the item though just in case the BIOS doesn't detect it).

Alternatively, you can opt to get another brand like the Samsung Evo as other users have tested it on this unit.

Video:
Samsung SSD on the Z570

As for the OS, Windows should automatically activate itself once you re-install Windows (e.g., From a backup, a recovery disc, or fresh install) but in case it doesn't activate, you will need to activate it by phone.

Yesterday afternoon I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328

Obviously, it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in the laptop. It comes with 6gb of RAM, a 4gb stick and a 2gb stick. The problem is, I don't really know what kind of RAM is in the computer. I'm looking to replace the 2gb stick with a second 4gb stick.

The type of RAM the laptop uses is pc3-10600 1333mhz ddr3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin so-dimm socket RAM.

My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8

Also, if there is a better option for RAM for this laptop, I'd like to know.

Answer:Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Honestly, I think I may have mental problems. It looks like I answered my own question in this post. That RAM is compatible with my laptop. So I guess I'd just like to know if this RAM is the best option for this particular laptop.

Hello Community, I just purchased a lenove ideapad y 580 and am trying to connect it to my Samsung TV in order to watch online streams on my TV. Sadly the TV is not getting a signal from my Laptop. Is anything else I would need to to except pressing Fn & F3? I am not really an expert with these things as this is the first time I am even trying to connect something via HDMI. :-) I will be thankful for any help you can give me. Edit: Problem solved. It seems there was just a problem with the hdmi port I tried to use on my TV. I switched to a different port and now it is working just fine.

Hello, I've just purchased the Lenovo Z510 Intel Core i7 (model 20287) and I've got a few queries: 1. if there is one mSATA connector available and free (not already connected) so I could be able to add an ADATA XPG SX300 mSATA SSD? this one is compatible with lenovo products?2. if yes (compatible) ,I can be able to install the Win7 OS after and if system will recognize the new ssd? any tutorial?3. if no (not compatible), what are Lenovo laptops compatible with mSATA ?  Many thanks in advance! Charlotte.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 (20287) - Compatible mSATA SSDs?

hi Charlotte,

Regarding your questions:
1. Looking at the specs sheet, the Ideapad Z510 does have a mini PCie card slot to fit an mSATA SSD but it doesn't indicate that it supports mSATA data signaling (and this slot is occupied by the wireless adapter).
  - Link to picture (page 27 of the HMM)
  - Z510 Specs

2. Not compatible. If you're leaning towards an SSD upgrade, you could consider getting a regular 2.5" SATA SSD and replace the HDD with the SSD and install Windows 7 on it. Check this thread as other users have sucessfully installed Win7 on their Z510.

3. Natively, these are some of the systems that supports mSATA:
   - IdeaPad Y400 / Y500
   - IdeaPad Yoga 13
   - IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro
   - IdeaPad U310 / U410 / U510
   - IdeaPad Y580

I've been looking at some of the features in Samsung Magician, and ran the Benchmark test twice. Both times I got very high scores, above the max listed in the program for all 4 tests. I have the drive set to MAXIMUM RELIABILITY. Just wondering about the scores reliability.

Scores in Parentheses are Samsung 's listed maximum high:

Sequential Read
549 mb (540)
Seq write
532mb (520)
Random read
97442 (97000)
Random write
70189 (66000)

Answer:Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250gb

Benchmarks are artificial at best [and a benchmark from the mfg is tailored to that particular piece of hardware] I would think you would get different results using a another benchmark program such as ATTO.

In short do not put too much emphasis on any given benchmark. Modern ssd drives are reliable and it should last for quite a while so I would not worry about the drive.

Hi,

Just purchased a new Samsung SP2514 250 gig hdd and XP can only see 32239mb.

Tried using samsung's drive overlay to install xp, but gave up + uninstalled it -(the drive overlay).

I booted from the Xp cd + installed but XP only sees 32....gig's.

I have enabled big LBA by using EnableBigLba from www.48bitlba.com to no avail.

From searching through the forums, I see that a BIOS update may be necessary.

Do I also need to update my motherboard + chipset?

If so, are reliable updates available free on the net?

Any step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thx in advance

I get the error

Are you installed in UEFI Mode? If so, when you boot from the USB drive use the entry that says UEFI and the name of your USB. If not in UEFI, boot from the name of your USB without UEFI in front of it. Delete all partitions on the drive until it says unallocated and then click the 'NEW" button. The installer will create all the necessary partitions. I hope that helps.

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

I replaced a Kingston 128GB SSD with a Samsung EVO 250GB SSD. Cloned Kingston SSD to new Samsung SSD using Acronis True Image.

Now, when I boot, it sits there for 30 seconds flashing the hard drive light blinking then proceeds to boot normally. All BIOS settings are default.

Hardware details in Specs.

Booting from the 128GB SSD was fine, no obvious delays.

Any idea what might be causing this? Could the new SSD be defective?

Answer:30 second boot delay with new 250GB Samsung SSD

Hey Rich,

Since it's for 30 seconds, it sounds like the time it waits before the default OS runs automatically. You might check to see if that may be it.

Hello and thank you in advance for your help!

I bought a new Samsung 850 EVO 250GB for my old aging computer and this happened:

1. Cloned my old c: drive to the ssd, replaced it and everything went fine for a while until i started getting an infinite loop.
Windows wouldn't boot. Did a registry recovery via command line but my windows installation went to hell to forcing me to reinstall.

2. From this point everything went to hell, and after multiple windows reinstalls here's some of what happens:
- Windows installs but errors immediately follows;
- Some windows updates install but eventually start failing until windows update fails completely;
- Windows installs, updates install but eventually windows fails to load and enters repair mode claiming startup errors;
- Programs stop working for no apparent reason, some examples: Browsers won't run, file associations disappear (class registration errors), explorer;
- Driver problems with peripherals,
- File system corruption errors;
- I got situations where the computer would get stuck in a reboot/system restore/repair loop
- Automatic and manual restore points disappear making it impossible to restore to an earlier time;
- Changing the sata mode to IDE instead of AHCI seems to solve some of these issues but eventually the system locks up, the hdd light stays on, and after a reset the ssd doesn?t get recognized at startup. I have to power off to get it back but it?s the same all over again.

Hi guys,

I was going to do clean install Windows 10 but there was an issue of GPT so I decided to convert into MBR. I didnt selected the volume by mistake and clean the whole disk.

Before there was 2 partitions

C: 150GB
D: 88GB

Now there is only 1 partition

C: 238GB

I have very important data on D drive and I am very confused right now.

Moreover, its still GPT and I also checked on Lupu Linux maybe if its on RAW but its not connecting through usb case.

My sons got me a Samsung 840 EVO SSD for my birthday . . . and it ROCKS! (That's right . . . I be the Dad . . . :major). Never used an SSD before and been wanting to try one out but I couldn't justify the expense at this time.

I was able to clone my existing HDD to the SSD with no trouble. The speed of this thing is amazing all by itself, but Samsung has a RAPID (Real-time Accelerated Processing of I/O Data) setting in its provided software that allows the use of up to one gigabyte of system RAM to use as a high-speed cache. This seems to more than double the sequential read and write of the SSD. I'm astonished! So far, so good.

On to my question . . . I've been putting various OS folders on my old HDD (all the Library files; Documents, Videos, Pictures, Downloads, etc.) but I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other files that would be wise to move from the SSD to my regular platter drive? I've researched this issue, and there is so much contradictory information out there I'm not sure how to proceed . . . so I came home to MG to ask

Thanks

Answer:Samsung 840 EVO 250GB Solid State Drive

I think I answered at least one of my own questions - It's apparently not wise to move the AppData folder to another drive besides the OS drive. I can't really think of any other caches or folders that would make sense to move.

I've moved I.E. temp files, all my document Libraries, and put a good few of my most used utility programs on my HDD. This seems to be taking some of the pressure off the SDD. I've had it installed and running since May 27th and have only written .17 TB to it. I intend to keep the games I am currently playing on the SSD. Though, from the testing I've seen done on this drive, longevity doesn't seem to be an issue with this model.

Ran another performance test on the drive after a reboot, and the Random Write (IOPS) results are insane! Top is the SSD of course, and I ran a comparison test on the 500GB Seagate Barracuda drive that had been my OS drive. SSD FTW!

has anyone installed a Samsung 850 EVO in a dell 3542. ive seen older posts on net where people were unsuccessful. going crazy researching this drive. and if u did get it installed. was it WOW thats so much faster?

Answer:anyone install samsung 850 evo 250gb in 3542 laptop?

Whether you can use one depends on which version of the system you have.
One version has a Celeron CPU (N30xx) and an embedded 32G eMMC drive - this one CANNOT  be upgraded to a 2.5" EVO SSD.
The higher line model has an i3 CPU and comes with a 500 G hard drive.  That model CAN be upgraded to a 2.5" EVO SSD.
Yes, the EVO will be immensely faster than a conventional hard drive.

Hello,

I have the following:

- Asus X99-Deluxe/U3.1
- Intel i7-5820K Extreme Hex Core CPU Processor (3.30GHz, 15MB Cache, 28 Lanes)
- Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 256 GB Solid State Drive
- Asus STRIX GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Graphics Card

I have only the Asus Graphics Card in the PCIEX16_1 which is running at PCI-E 3.0 16x as expected. I have removed the USB3.1 card that comes with this motherboard for testing purposes so I literally only have the Graphics card installed.

The board has an onBoard M.2 x4 Rev 3 connector which the Samsung 950 PRO is installed into.

I believe this connector should allow 32Gb/sec bandwidth (since it uses PCI-E 3.0 x 4) - please note there is also an optional card where you can add the M.2 (or a second M.2) into a PCI Express slot - I'm NOT using this card, just the onBoard connector.

Samsung Magician says the following:
- Controller: Samsung NVMe Controller (Driver Ver: 1.4.17)
- PCIe Slot: PCI Express Root Port 1 - 2F03
> Link Speed Cur: 4Gbps, Max: 8Gbps
> Link Width Cur: x4, Max: x4
> Bandwidth Cur: 16Gbps, Max: 32Gbps

The performance data also suggests this - the read speed should be a lot higher but seems to be reduced, whereas write speed which is a lower number is over the actual "Upto Speed".

It appears as if my SSD is running at PCI-E 2.0 speeds? The bandwidth is being throttled. Any ideas how I make it go to 32Gbps instead of 16Gbps?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Asus X99-Deluxe/U3.1 + Samsung 950 Pro (250GB) M.2 Speed Issues?

Believe it or not, I've just stumbled across the solution.

I am using high FSB Corsair Dominator sticks and had them using an XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) - essentially my memory was overclocked.

I thought I'd try running in "normal" mode ie. stock settings and when I checked, the Samsung Magician is now showing as 32Gbps!!

The motherboard must sacrifice something to run the Memory at the higher clock speed which means it can't run the M.2 at PCI-E 3 and has to drop it to PCI-E 2.

Worth baring in mind for anyone else trying to achieve these elusive 32Gbps speeds

Hi Rxgamer,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I understand your concern, but let me inform you these partitions contain recovery image and Drivers/Default Applications. By deleting the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partition the system will loose its ability to "Factory Reset/ OKR (One Key Recovery)" of the system.

Lenovo doesn't offer the such tool like "Samsung Magician". Only fw updater is in the list. I can't explain why Samsung's sw doesn't support its own OEM disk. Probably it's a bug of sw settings.

In this discussion, Amy from Lenovo recommends that we purchase Lenovo SSDs if we want thermal management: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/Can-I-add-a-Samsung-950-Pro-NVMe-SSD-to-... The link no longer directs us to a particular model. So I perform a search on the Lenovo site and see (among others) this model: ThinkPad 256GB SAMSUNG PCIe NVME TLC OPAL M.2 SSD http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/memory-and-storage/storage/HDD-BO-ThinkPad-M-2... What is this? A Samsung SSD rebranded as a Lenovo SSD? Would I gain in compatibility with such a drive or not, and specifically regarding thermal management? Also, is there a misprint below concerning the read speed? "ThinkPad 256GB SAMSUNG PCIe NVME TLC OPAL M.2 SSD supporting PCIe 3.0 interface standard up to 4 lanes shows much faster performance than previous SATA SSDs. It's sequential performance is up to 300MB/s for read operation and 1700MB/s for write operation by 4 lanes. Test-Prove 100% Compatible with ThinkPad machines. " That has to be 3000MB/S, right?

I got a Sony Viao VGX-XL201 living room PC. It had XP installed but was Vista ready. Also got the discs for Vista Home Premium. I use my Samsung LCD tv as the monitor (using HDMI)so I can watch & record TV etc through the PC and TV. I specifically bought this TV because it is PC compatable.Everything worked fine in XP so I followed the instructions for a clean install of Vista. All appears fine at first but when I turn the TV to standby it upsets Vista totally. If I record TV through Vista's media centre the recording is rendered unwatchable, freezing, hanging, skipping. It breaks internet connection etc and leave a desktop message to the effect of 'Display fault'. The only way to fix it is to re-boot. But this is no good as the main reason I bought this unit was for an all-encompassing media kit for the living room and clearly leaving the TV on 24/7 is no solution. I've been round and round with Viao's helpline who simply say download drivers, which I've done with no effect. They also say HDMI is one way traffic i.e PC to TV but not TV to PC but that can't be right otherwise the PC wouldn't know it's connected to a Samsung (which it does). Sony can't seem to help. The fact is, turning off my TV immediately impacts the PC's ability to function. The fact that it did not happen with XP tells me the fault lies with Vista. Please, can anybody shed any light on this? Many thanks.

Does the Yoga Pro 3 support the new Samsung 950 Pro NVMe storage card? Will it require a BIOS upgrade or does the BIOS already support NVMe

Answer:Samsung 950 Pro NVMe compatible with Yoga 3 Pro

No, it won't. SATA and PCI-Express protocols are not inter-compatible when it comes to m.2 slots. You can only match sata m.2 drives to sata m.2 slots -or- pcie m.2 drives to pcie m.2 slots. Yoga pro 3 supports sata m.2 only and while even it were possible (if physical wiring on system board w/ m.2 slot could support pcie configuration) I seriously doubt Lenovo would spend time and money engineering a separate bios for a previous generation model. Prolly in Q1 2016, Lenovo will begin to release in the USA market some new laptops that will support NVMe. Out of the current models available for purchase I think there are only 1 or 2 that have nvme support.

I installed a new Samsung EVO mSATA card in my X220T and neither the BIOS or Windows 8.1 are recognizing the drive. Drive: mSATA Samsung EVOLaptop Model: 4294-CTO Nothing from either company says or even suggests these are incompatible.  I verified I have the very latest BIOS version from Lenovo.  I have read that there were issues with other models.  I have tried removing and reinstalling the drive multiple times and inspecting the connection carefully, making certain it's fully inserted.  I tried following the other attempts including checking BIOS settings, multiple reboots, and even taking out a memory stick booting, shutting down, putting it back in, booting, and nothing.  Nothing I do gets the computer to recognize the drive.

I have an 8 year old PackardBell which has been enough for my limited uses (I don't play games or other high power needing programmes). I do use it for connecting with my microscopes, and as it has USB1 ports that makes imagery a bit slow etc. Now, the

want to buy another screen when I just bought one a year ago) which has VGA connection. I need a sugestion as to which PC Tower I need that is compatible, and one that has at least 5 USB2ports - with  two or three USB2 ports preferable at the front
(the USB leads from microscope cameras seem ridiculously short). My budget is about $A600. many thanks,

I'd been looking for a new laptop for software development (VS 2012) and ordered a W530 with Windows 8 Pro.  Hope to receive it this week.  I ordered it with 8GB RAM, 500 GB 7200 Primary HD, 500 GB 7200 Secondary HD and the 16GB mSATA Solid State Cache Drive.  My post purchase plans were originally just to add another 16GB of RAM from Crucial and an external Blu-Ray burner since I opted for the secondary HD.  However, I found a great price on a Samsung 840 Pro 250 GB SSD so I've decided to remove the primary HD with the OS and install the 250 GB SSD.  My plan is to do a clean install on the SSD after burning the restore/recovery discs.  I've done plenty of clean Windows XP/7/etc installs before, but not sure about getting some of the other software like the Finger Print security working again. Also, do I need to physically remove the 16GB Solid State Drive?  If I simply leave it in the system, but don't install or configure the ExpressCache software, is that ok? Thanks for your help.

Answer:Samsung 830 SSD 256GB compatible with ThinkPad X220i?

According to PSREF, the X220i calls for a SSD that meets these specifications, "SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high." All new SSDs sold today run at SATA-III (6Gb/s) but not all are 7.0mm thick. As long as the Samsung 830 is 7mm thick (as opposed to the older 9.5mm) then it should work just fine.

Some makers, e.g. Crucial M4, sell both 7mm and 9.5mm variants of the same model. If Samsung is similar then make sure you get the right variant.

Hello!

I recently bought a samsung portable hard drive from the M3 series with a 1TB storage capacity.

My computer currently runs on Windows 8.1, x64, 4GB RAM and a 3Ghz processor

When trying to install "Samsung drive manager" or any of the other software that came with the hard drive - I receive the following error message "This runs on Windows XP/Vista, Windows 7, please check your OS".

I have tried to install the "Samsung drive manager" from the Seagate website, thinking that it might be compatible but I receive the same error message.
According to the Windows compatibility website and Samsung/Seagate, the M3 hard drive is compatible with Windows 8 (Note, I have Win 8.1, but is there really that much of a difference?) I ran the software bundle on my old laptop (Windows 7) and it worked fine, so that excludes any issues with the actual hardware
Anyone with a similar problem or solution?

Drag that left or right to decrease or increase the brightness of the screen. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Hi all,Is there any chance to influence Lenovo about BIOS update wchich would turn on VT support (and some other BIOS settings)? Is there anyone who could pull some strings, whisper few words here and there and get it done I think all IdeaPads owners would greatly appreciate such an update (Anyone agree with me? ).

Ideapad Y530; P9500 @ 2.53 GHz; 250 GB 7200 rpm HDD; 4 GB OCZ RAM, nVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS

Answer:[IdeaPad Y530]Lenovo please TURN ON VT Support in IdeaPad line.

Call tech support and let them know that it is not acceptable that VT is not supported in the BIOS.

Yesterday afternoon I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328  Obviously, it hasn't come in the mail yet. My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8  Also, if there is a better option for RAM for this laptop, I'd like to know.

Hello. For a long while, I've been thinking about buying a new improved laptop over my old one and had my eye onSamsung's SSD's, particularly a 2TB 850 PRO which is a SATA3 and is 2.5 inches. Looking through the tech specs of the ideapad Y910 and seeing its HDD is SATA3 and 2.5", it looks like the two will bea match made in heaven but since I never dealt with installing new PC components before, I want to check with the forums to know for sure if I can, indeed, install THAT very model (Samsug 850 PRO) into an ideapad Y910. Thank you.

Hello,If anyone can help, I would appreciate it!  I am not computer savy.  I was previously able to watch movies & TV shows (netflix, Hulu, etc) on my 52 inch Samsung TV using the HDMI connection from my Lenovo U450p.  One day this just stopped working.  The TV screen displays a "no signal" message.  I verified that the HDMI cord still works.  I have tried pressing the Fn key along with F3 but this doesn't do anything.

I now have the above named phone and require a Back-up memory card, Samsung state the maximum card must be a Micro SDHC which I know is not available by Samasung in 64GB size.
I have read there to be problems with 64GB Micro SDXC card not working correctly because of them being ExFat32
Does anyone in the group happen to own a Samsung Galaxy Note II Lte GT-N7105 Smartphone please and tell me if they have tried a 64GB Micro SDXC card with or without any issues.
Thanks
Steven

SDXC is not listed on the spec sheet so I assume the answer is no, but I figured I would check and see if someone could confirm before I purchase a smaller SDHC card.  I would really like a 64GB card but don't want to shell out and have to return it.

Hello guys.
So I'm having quite a problem.
I was surfing the web when suddenly i got a blur screen.
Not knowing the problem I just simply recovered my computer and kept goin my life as if nothing happened. After a while I got another blue screen and this time when it rebooted the screen displayed a message saying it couldn't from my hard disk. I tried taking out the disk and mounting it back again but it keeps happening after an hour or so. So I tried searching for a HDD in Lenovo's shop but wasn't what kind and which disks were compatible with my system.
If i could get information about available hard drivers would ve very much apreciated.

The windows 8 upgrade assistant says to review "Lenovo bluetooth with enhanced data rate software" "go to the app website for help" When I click the link which goes to broadcomm,  I download the software and run it as administrator. It says " The program cannot upgrade your software. Please contact the manufacturer of you bluetooth device for support."

Answer:How to upgrade bluetooth on Ideapad U150 so it is compatible with windows 8?

Is that the "SetupBtwDownloadSE" file, it works on my Z580 with broadcom 4313 + BT4.0 card. Did you enable the bluetooth it`s Fn + F5 on mine turn on the bluetooth or the update will not work. John.

Answer:Ideapad Y470 compatible hard disks in the market?

Hi herricane45 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product specification for the Y470
Storage: 500GB (5400 rpm), 500GB (7200 rpm), or 750GB (5400 rpm) /  SATA 3.0Gb/s, 7mm or 9.5mm high

FRU parts list Item 21 pages 82-83 of the hardware manual shows probable harddrives that is supported for your model.
If you are fine with same capacity , your current harddrive would also have a label on its sticker to compare specs too.

Hope this helped answer your query.
Update us how it goes best for you.

Regards
