I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a problem in the touchpad, it doesn't work at all, (doesn't appear in device manager and the pointer disappears when i unplug the USB mouse) I tried all methods, the fn +f6, updated Bios, updated Drivers, re-installed Windows, even I made a test with a Linux live CD and everything worked except the touchpad. In BIOS there isn't any options regarding the touchpad as wellI was wondering if there is something needed to be enabled in firmware? I wonder. what can I do at this point, I am using an external USB mouse, but I need the touchpad to be working as well.* the laptop is new, there is no physical damage at all

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Hello AfahmyThanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

I got this issue for a long time. Don't know if this is a factory defect, or perhaps a design flaw on Lenovo. The battery was good to ok when I first got it, then came all the Windows 10 updates which made it worse. I would just normally use it and most of the time I only got around 1.5-2 hours. I tried everything, control start-up items, control background apps, disabled Fast Boot even reduced the screen brightness but to no avail. All my drivers are updated, even the BIOS.Does anyone have this issue? If you do, did you try any other tricks that might have even temporarily solved this issue?I wish some of the moderators can report this to Lenovo Engineers, so they can find a solution.

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad 310 about a month ago, shortly after installing all reccomended updates on the Lenovo companion app, including reccomended BIOS and Windows 10 updates my laptop has started getting semi random freezes. When a freeze occurs the entire system locks up, the sound makes a very short interval constant loop, and I have to preform a full reboot. It seems to happen more frequently when playing certain games (CSGO, Left 4 Dead 2) Less frequently when playing less demanding games (Starbound, Minecraft) however sometimes it feels like it can happen at any time as it has happened a few times just browsing the internet or once while idle and downloading something in the background.Sometimes I can tell when it's about to happen. In the case where the computer is about to freeze while playing CSGO I lose connection to the server, the game tell's me it's attempting to reconnect, every time I see this the computer goes into the freeze 5-10 seconds later, This morning I was fast enough to alt tab before the freeze and noticed that my laptop said it was still connected to the internet just before it then froze and I had to reboot I have no idea what could possibly be causing this but wanted to know what my options are or wether anybody else was experiencing similar constant and seemingly random freezes

Can anyone please tell me if the above bios update is compatible with the 'non-touch' version of this laptop. The text suggests that it is included but when it goes to install it it pauses and tells me it is only for touch versions. I am now confused and understandably reluctant to go ahead. ThanksTF.

Hey,To begi, I have 2 problems since I bought this notebook about 2 weeks ago1- The performance is so poor    I am running Windows 10 and what I can notice is the bad performance from such an i7 processor @2.7 to 2.9 Ghz with 8 GB RAM(DDR4) and Nvidia Geforce 920MX(2GB)once I remove the AC Adapter and run it on the battery it tends to be slower and even when plugged in it's still giving me like the minimal performance, I have another laptop which is processor i5 @2.3 Ghz , 4 GB of RAM(DDR3), Intel Graphics Card(1GB) and it is running at much higher speed and I have tested this on some game and the i5 PC gave me a Higher FPS(90+) while the Ideapad gave me something around 60So, is it because some kind of factory settings for the lowest performance ever on that PC as I want to change it? Please give me a decent Solution for that problem as I can't work on the Ideapad this way.....2- Since I bought this laptop and I am using it regularly so I wanted to limit the battery usage to increase its lifespan so I have download Lenovo settings and Companion to Activate the Conservation Mode but It never worked, It never limited the battery to 60% and the battery still goes to completion....So I need a solution for thatThanks in advance.

These are my issues:The System Recovery option found in the Novo Button Menu just opens GRUB to attempt to launch Kali Linux 2016.2.The Boot Menu doesn't show there are any Bootable USBs I have in its list. Even one with Kali Linux 2016.2 on it. It is not just not recognizing the USB as bootable, it doesn't represent anything is plugged in at all.Somehow, Kali Linux is now broken as well. So any help from within an OS on the system is not an option. My Comedy of Errors  When I installed Linux, I:Booted from a Bootable Kali USB, ran the LIVE option, and started the app gParted, a Linux option for a disk partitioner.Shrunk the partition holding my saved data created with windows 10 to accomodate the size and to make room for Kali.Deleted the other partitions. ---- I have done this many times, no, there is no way the hidden system recovery partition was present and deleted.Installed Kali As the only OS on my system.Broke Kali. Hi! Anyone experiences this? I have tried all possible fix for this that I can find. And it looks like this update, maybe feature rich but not exactly battery-friendly. Any possible fix for this?

Paolonicus wrote:Anyone experiences this? I have tried all possible fix for this that I can find. And it looks like this update, maybe feature rich but not exactly battery-friendly.   Any possible fix for this?It is probable that the 1703 update has re-enabled Fast Start.  (I have not received 1703 yet, so I don't know for certain.) Remember that Fast Start means that when you shut down your laptop, it is not shutting down at all.  What it is actually doing is hibernating.  A hibernating computer can wake up in the middle of the night to do whatever it wants (download updates, install updates, defragment the drive, index the drive, perform other housekeeping).  If these activities are occurring, they will obviously be draining your battery. Use Bing or Google to find the instructions for disabling Fast Start, and then disable Fast Start.  In future, when you have finished using your laptop, ensure that you use shutdown; don't use sleep or hibernation.  If that solves your problem, you will know that the cause was Fast Start. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Hi everyone. I have an Ideapad Y460 running Win7 x64 SP1, with switchable graphics - Intel HD / Mobility Radeon 5650. When I tried to update my Intel hd graphics driver through Device Manager (Display adapters, right-clicked Intel HD Graphics, Driver tab, "update driver", "search automatically for updated driver software"), Device Manager for some reason changed "Intel HD graphics" to "Standard VGA graphics adapter" and resolution became 800x600. I rebooted, but after that, I couldn't roll back the driver (button was greyed out in Device Manager). I first tried the HD graphics driver from Intel's website for my processor (i5 430 M) but that had a driver signing issue. After disabling the driver signing enforcement, it led to the no-display issue, details in the next paragraph. I subsequently tried to install the Intel HD Graphics driver from the Lenovo support site (IN2VDO26WW6.exe), but after rebooting, there is no display after the "Starting Windows" screen. The sound at the login screen plays, and I can enter my password and have it log in (based on sound cues), and apparently everything loads fine (can shutdown using Run command), just that there is no display. I have tried setting my laptop's date to near the driver's date, to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. (Yes I did a very stupid thing that caused this whole mess. :C  T_T  )

I looked around google but found nothing on updating the graphics card and the weird thing is it only restarts when I play Day of Defeat source it never restarts when I play Counter Strike source. You can't just pop in a new graphics card into a laptop. Besides, your's uses an onboard chip, so you are stuck with it. Desktops with onboard chips a are different matter of course.

Whenever I start the game I always have some engine error. Turned out that my card wasn't updated. So how??? Step by step instructions pretty please!

Thank you.

Answer:really need help for updating my graphics card...

yandaoben,

If you are using windows XP, download this file and install. Its a graphic driver update for Radeon Family of cards.
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-...6a-018719c.exe

Install the latest direct x 9.0 c version.

ATI recommends windows sp2 to be installed , atleast that is what ati says about in the 'note' in its driver update page

If you still cant run the game, get this file . Its MS .net framework. http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...6/dotnetfx.exe
Install the above file, then reinstall your driver file.

I am looking to replace my current ATI Radeon X300 (128mb) graphics card with something that will run Flight SIM X at a more user friendly rate. Before I up the specs., I'm concerned whether the rest of my computer has the ability to cope.

Running: Pentium 4, 3.20GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, 90nm
512MB 400MHz DDR SDRAM memory.

Theses figures don't mean a lot to me, just copied them off the front.

Basically I don't want to up the graphics card only to find that other parts let me down.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

Thankyou.

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the correct forum for my question.

I am trying to update the driver for my old geforce ti200. The driver installs with no problems.

Unfortunately, I am running a 1440 x 900 widescreen monitor and it seems that once I update the driver this resolution is not supported.

I need to update the driver to get one of my games to work, so I am in a bit of a catch 22!

Can anyone advise how to make the updated driver run at the correct resolution?

Many thanks.

Answer:Graphics card updating

Here is the support site for the Compaq Presario CQ5310PT desktop.

According to its product specifications section, it has a PCI Express x16 slot for upgrading to a video card, and it has a 300 watt power supply.

That means you're going to need to get a video card that connects to a PCI Express x16 slot and doesn't require more power than that power supply can handle.

Unless you plan to upgrade to a higher wattage power supply, my recommendation would be a video card that has no more than 512 MB of dedicated video memory and that has a heat sink instead of a cooling fan.

If you're planning to do hard-core gaming and need a high-end video card, that power supply likely won't do the job.

We (and you) need a lot more information first.

You need to inspect your current power supply unit (PSU) and read the label to determine its capability. When it comes to graphics card, it is the current on the 12VDC rails that is most important. And since graphics cards are often the most power hungry devices in our computers, you need to ensure your PSU can support a new card, or be prepared to buy a new PSU with your new card.

As for not knowing if your system is water cooled or not, I find that a bit confusing as it seems to me if it was water cooled, you would already know that. Do you see hoses running to your CPU cooler (or graphics card)? Most water cooled systems today are sealed so you should not have to refill them. If you do have a water cooled system and water has leaked out, I would be more concerned about water in the electronics!

Also, some cases are slim and/or not very deep and therefore may restrict the size or height of the card they support. If you have a standard "mid" tower case or larger, that should not be a problem. But if you have a slim case in particular, you may need a "low-profile" card.

Lastly, you need to set a budget. If budget is not a concern, then this looks good.

You would likely need to contact your satellite service provider for the answer to your question. There are firmware updates that are periodically available. However I figure by now they are automatically installed (I could be wrong though), to keep the machines up to date.

Hello! So here is the problem. I purchased a XFX - Radeon R5 220 to update my Lenovo H415 Desktop Computer. My friend and I installed it after purchase and... "NO SIGNAL". We couldn't figure it out for so long. Eventually I decided to buy a new PSU to accommodate the 400W requirement. I hooked up a new Thermaltake TR2 430W Power Supply to the exact same places as the desktops original PSU. Fiddling with the little red slider on the back (115 - 230) did little more than make the CPU Fan go faster. I went and exchanged the graphics card because I couldn't find any other reason. But yep.... "NO SIGNAL" still! And I know the slot works because it can run my friends Nvidia card just fine. I think the issue could be a few things: BIOS, PCI 3.0 graphics card vs another PCI version on my PC, karma, the curse of a witch. However, I honestly have no clue. If anyone could help that would be fantastic.  Thank you!

Hi guys,
I have a Dell XPS 420 computer. Running Windows vista 32bit. With a Dell E207 WFP monitor. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS, 256MB. Anyway I have not updated the drivers on my graphics card for like a year. So I got it done today, Just went into the Nvidia website and updated it no problem. The update included alot of stuff to do with 3D. Giving various 3D settings options on the NVidia control panel. Im not a fan of 3D at all. I dont use my pc for gaming, I use my playstation for that. Anyway maybe it was my imagination but after the update I thought things looked a little different on the websites I usually surf, like You Tube and that. Did this update turn things to 3D or am I imagining it. Thanks for any of your comments...

Answer:Solved: Updating Graphics Card

Probably imagining it.

But it may not have been such a good idea to update your drivers. I know that lots of places on the internet encourage that, but sometimes you end up worse off than you were. I wouldn't recommend updating them unless there was a specific reason. Especially with older cards and newer drivers, where the newer drivers are optimized for recent cards and only backwards-compatible for older ones, the older drivers may actually work better for you if you don't have a specific need (game that won't work, e.g.) for a newer one.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

(PS. You can roll back your drivers to the previous version in Device Manager whenever an update is not to your liking.)

But im trying to burn a movie with Windows DVD Maker, but it told my that my video card does not meet the minimum requirments. So i new i had a Good Nvidia Graphics card so i went to check my card just in case by using the DxDiag thingy or w/e. And it only says that i have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I am thinking that i did not install some drivers or something for my computer to recognized my graphics card with windows 7 or something...can someone help me fix Windows DVD Maker and/or My computer with its Video Card?

Hello everyone. I am having a lot of trouble trying to update the driver on my graphics card. I currently have an Alienware MX17 R3 with an Radeon HD 6870m.

I try to download the driver directly from the AMD site but I get this message. (Attatched)

I go to the Alienware driver page and unfortunately the driver on their website is the one I currently have which is from 2011. To be sure there is a new driver for this card somewhere and I just can't find a way to get it on my computer.

It's very unfortunate that I can't download the newer driver from the AMD site and have to resort to the Alienware site... who does not have the most updated driver. It's 2013 and I'm forced to use a very outdated driver.

Does anyone have any solution to this.

Answer:Need help updating drivers for graphics card.

Hi there Ryan90!

Seems like it's a common issue where Dell driver won't let you install the regular drivers. Sometime we might need to modify the INI file. Try this one AMD Catalyst if that didn't work I did find an article that might help you with your problem Proper AMD/ATI Driver Install - Alienware User Support it's worth a try.

I have an old PC (Pentium 4, 2.8GHz), with an AGP graphics slot, which is running Windows 7.
Since my old FX 5600 video card packed up, I've been using a very low-spec replacement that gives me basic function but no more.

I'm looking for a proper replacement (equal or better than the 5600), and have come across an EVGA GF 6200 on Amazon, which Microsoft lists as Win7 compatible. It seems to be suitable, but it has a heatsink, not a fan. Xan this card really compare performance-wise with the FX 5600, especially with demanding tasks such as video editing? For comparison, the FX 5600 let me run Windows Movie Maker without any problems, and watch hi-res (relative term, I know) videos.

If this card can match the FX 5600 without any fan noise, and if there aren't any compatibility issues I've missed, then I'll definitely buy it.

PS. Please don't tell me to get a new PC.
Money's short, times are hard, I just want a graphics card!

I updated my AMD Radeon R9 360 graphics card and decided to update all of my brothers pc's aswell, as they both have the same computer (Predator G3). While updated one of their pc's, the screen went black and said No Signal, being the idiot I am I decided that I should force shut down his computer, little did i know that the pc was already restarting, so i just messed up the updating cycle. Anyways, now his computer boots up, and shows a black screen with a spinning white circle of dots. Any help on fixing this would be appreciated.

I recently bought the new Company of Heros 2 and it suggested to ensure my drivers were up to date so I click the recommended link for my card (ATI mobility radeon HD 4650) and installed the catalyst control center which got me the correct driver and installed it. I went to play the game and it still crashes and all sorts of crazy things happen with in the first few minutes of me playing the game. So my question is, is it possibal that I might need to uninstall the old driver or am I just missing something completely. Thanks for the read. =]Also my computer specs are 10GB of ram Intel core 2 duo @2GHz and as stated before my card is ATI mobility radeon HD 4650.

I'd make sure that DirectX is the latest. I have run into issues with older DirectX. You can run DXDiag from Start Run to check out the version and all other info.AS seen here, CoH2 requires  DirectX 10 or newer http://en.checkreq.com/company-of-heroes-2[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]

I have a older HP h8-1220t, i5-2320 CPU, 16 g Ram, 64 bit operating system, it runs fine with the factory installed AMD Radeon HD 7400 series graphics card, with 300 w power supply. Now my problem, I upgrade to to 430 watt power supply and installed Radeon RX 460 4GB graphics card. I downloaded and tried to install the drivers but get the message saying new hardware is not found. I went ahead installed the New Radeon Card, restarted and nothing but a black screen.. Put the old AMD card back in and works fine. I have downloaded and ran the install for the drivers but when I check the Device Manager the only graphic showing there is the HD 7400 series ( the old card) and the Intel HD which is on the motherboard. I have rebooted numerous times, Held the start button down with it unplugged and nothing is making it find the new card. The computer will start ... black screen run for a couple minutes and restart... run for a couple minutes and restart again.. Please can anyone help me find the problem. I got the Power supply, and Radeon Card from best buy and they say it should be working. Can someone point me to the detailed instructions as to what I need to do? Thank You

Answer:Problem updating Graphics card.

Hi and welcome the forum.  I did some searching on the topic posted and found no posts concerning that series of video card with your motherboard.-IPMMB-FM FormosaI did find people having success with the GeForce GTX 760 series by disabling the UEFI in the BIOS setup menu and then enabling legacy, so just maybe that will allow the card to work.

To cut a long story short, I'd sent my computer off to Currys/PCWorld (where my dad works) for them to do a full diagnostic of my PC (because my graphics card was faulty a few months ago).

Through/by no choice of my own, I was given a new graphics card - an ASUS ATi Radeon EAH5770 CU core, 1GB GDDR5 (powered by a HD Radeon 5770 = not bad I suppose; at least it's much better than my old GeForce 8800GTS)

I found out it needed updating, and (I can't remember why or how I managed it but) I did that through Steam; but then I got a BSOD message

(perfmon.html is included in the zip file)

-Windows 7 X64
-Not the original OS (was Vista)
-Full retail (legally bought) version
-I bought my computer/hardware on 13th March 2007
-installed Windows 7 [32-bit] on 24th October 2009, then the 64-bit on 4th January 2011

I recently bought the Zotac Geforce gtx 750 ti. I also upgraded the PSU to a 650W unit. My tower is an h8-1223 and my mother board is M3970BM. When I installed this graphics card, I got the blue HP loading screen and then a few short beeps and then a black screen with the cursor in the top left corner. From what I read, I thought that this graphics card should be compatible with my system. I attempted to look on the HP support site to upgrade my BIOS, in case that was the issue. However, for my tower, the available upgrade is for M3970CMNR and to be honest I don't know if it matters that my motherboard is actually M3970BM. Any help or guidance that can be offered would be appreciated. If this card isn't compatible, is there a list of graphics cards that will work with my system? My budget is of order $200 CAD.

I have received a new graphics and - with help - tried to install it butr have encountered problems resulting in recognising the drivers resulting in temporarily reverting back to the old card. The old graphics card was a nVIDIA 4 GeForce MX 440 128MBThe new card is a nVIDIA GeForce 5200 256mbI run Windows XP.My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-LAThe card was inserted in safe mode and all seemed fine i.e. the internet worked fine etc. Then when I re-booted I got the message referring to new hardware found followed in due course by an error messgae saying thta the drviers could not be updated. I also had a message saying that certain files were misisng - these related to NV4 files and the update reference for the last 440MX drivers. The picture was extremely jumpy when scrolling web pages. All nVIDIA 4 files were located and deleted but again on reboot the same message appeared. the files were then delted and the old card reinsetered. Despite there apparently being no files or drivers the card was recgonised.Could it be that the driver files are safed somewher eon the pc? If so how can I get rid of these so that they do not override new drviers for the new graphics card?Another card - an ATI Radeon - was inserted and the dsame thing happendedI hope that this makes some snense as I am confused!

Answer:Problems updating graphics card - help please

Try starting your machine in Safe Mode, selecting the option VGA.This will restart you machine in very low resolution (no drivers installed) then install the software for the new Graphics card. This will normally clear the problem.Terry

Answer:Need Help: Updating Graphics Card Advise

You can't do anything for the P4 CPU.

You can only add the video card to make it faster... save your OLD video card to put back in this PC when you sell it and upgrade to a new computer.

The 8800GT is as fast as the 8800GTX. Both will be bottlenecked by your CPU. Your PSU is 650 watts so its fine. You may need the included in adaptor to get more power to the video card.

Hi. Right now I have
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400

but most, if not all of the new games that are out there for my kids and I (ok, me, when I can get near this computer) won't work with this card. Wondering if I can update it.

Following are my specs.

Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.50GHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
Monitor: ViewSonic VA800

Any other info for specs needed to help?

TIA,
Patrick

Answer:Solved: Help updating graphics card

Before considering upgrading the graphics card, is your CPU and Memory up to snuff for these games your kids want to play? This is an old computer and may not be worth putting too much money into.

But to further move along your question. You need an older AGP video card. You also need to open up the side onthe computer and see what power supply you have and how may watts it is.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.I recently installed a new graphics card on my pc an ASUS EN8800GT 512mb DDR3. The card is working fine after some tweaking. I'd like to get the most up to date drivers for it. The control panel window that opens for the card is NVIDIA. There isn't an obvious control to "Update Drivers". What I was wondering is if I should update via the NVIDIA website or ASUS. Its not really that clear which to do. If anyone's got some suggestions I'd be most grateful.

After having problems with my pc (processor speed) i was advised to update the bios. Since doing this i can no longer see the 2nd graphics card, can anyone help please?

Previously i had the following set up:

Windows Vista 64 PC with 3 monitors on 2 graphics cards (GeForce 8200 & GeForce 9500GT)
Motherboard- ASRock K10N78-1394
Chipset- GeForce 8200
Bios- American Megatrends P1.20
CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 955

My PC has been sluggish since i bought it and crashes quite often, which i put down to Vista so I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 but discovered that the CPU was only running at 800MHz rather than the advertised 3GHz. I was told this is a bios issue and to update the bios to AMI P1.60

After doing so i can no longer use the 3rd screen and i cannot see the 2nd graphics card (GeForce 8200)

The system shows that the motherboard chipset is now nForce 720a and the graphics card as GeForce 9500GT (no sign of the 8200)

The CPU is now faster though!

Can anyone advise how to get the 2nd graphics card (3rd screen) back?

Many thanks

I'm fixing up a computer for a friend and I'm trying to decide if I should sell him my old Gforce 3 graphics card. He has a 4 or 5 year old (that's a guess, could be newer, doubt it's older) Compaq and the graphics card he has now is horrible.

BUT, he doesn't play games. So my question is, would updating his graphics card in this case be worthless if he doesn't play games? Would having a really old card like that slow down every-day use of a computer on the Internet and just in Windows? Or is the graphics card strictly going to affect only gameplay?

Thanks for the help : )

I wanted to do some gaming on my lap top but although my computer and operating system met all the minimum requirements of the game, found that the game kept on crashing or freezing. I sought advice on the problem and a possible solution via the game website and was advised to try updating my graphics card drivers. My graphics card is an Intel (R) HD graphics card.

When I went to the Intel website I downloaded and installed the Intel Driver Update Utility tool as advised but when I tried to install the latest driver update I received the following message:-

?A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on yourcomputer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver.Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computermanufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computermanufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.?

On further advice, I went to the Toshiba website and tried to update the drivers from the 'Download Drivers' section of the Lap top PC support section but when presented with a list of available drivers to select from the drop down menu, was unable to find anything relating to graphics card drivers.
My graphics card drivers are now 2 years old. Can you advise?

Hi, since the newest version of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, I can't use the GPU performance feature. It tells me that I have an comparable GPU available. Update driver to use GPU performance.
The issue is that windows, and intel both say that my drivers are up to date.
It says the version installed is 10.18.10.4276 however, when I download the newest drivers from intel, it says they are version 15.33.42.4358. So when I install it, it keeps going back to version 10.18.10.4276
The computer I have is an dell inspiron 660, it's got an i5 @ 3.0 ghz and an intel (r) hd graphics 2500 with 2gb of ram.

Would appreciate some help, it's been bugging me. GPU performance features really help my workflow.

Answer:Graphics card not updating to newest version

Hi, I'm a bit confused by "The issue is that windows, and intel both say that my drivers are up to date." and then mention 2newest drivers from intel, it says they are version 15.33.42.4358."

My interpretation is:
Windows insists on you having vn 10.18.10.4276, but there is a later version available from Intel. If you install the later version, Windows replaces it with vn 10.18.10.4276.

Assuming that you want the later version, you will have realised that Windows has taken control of driver versions, and Uncle MS will replace your driver if yours isn't the MS approved version- whether older or newer.

This lets you disable particular updates:
Windows Updates - Hide or Show in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
Use this to hide the update you don't want, then apply the driver update.

This turns off all driver updates (not really what you want to do)
Device Driver Automatic Installation - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Hi everyone,

I need help for the updating of the drivers of my graphic card "AOpen NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200". After the installation of Windows XP Pro I installed the drivers for my graphic card which was in the CD I got when I bought the card. First I browsed the CD and I found many kinds of drivers not knowing which is the driver for my card. However, every drivers had three versions to download and they were "Europe-Asia", "Australia-Asia" and "USA-Asia". Since this is the first time I am installing Windows as well as all the drivers myself my email would seems confusing to you but I wish to inform you everything so that you could better guide me. Any way I just reinserted the CD and its window popped up which said "All in one drivers" something like that and it began installing the driver for my card and successfully installed the driver. Now since that CD is old I wish to update the drivers of my card and I went to the Nvidia web site. There I found two versions for the current driver of my card. The first one was for "English US" 43.8 MB in size and others were all "English International" versions i.e. English UK, English India, English Singapore along with the other languages. The "English International" version was 70.2 MB in size as well as many other languages. However, some languages were 43.8 MB in size same as "English US". I use "English US" in my computer al... Hi!!!Right, bear with me while I get my head around the question I'm asking here as upgrading pc's is completely new to me. I'll include as much information as I can as I'm not really sure what is needed and what isn't!I have a fujitsu siemens pentium p4 (3.2ghz) pc with the GA-8I848PM motherboard and the GeForce FX 5500 agp graphics card. Needless to say I want a new graphics card and have been delaying it for much longer than I really should've. However now I've decided to bite the bullet!I just wanted to pick your brains about the pick of the bunch of agp cards that are still left as looking through reviews I find it hard to see which ones are better than others when their relatively similarly specced and priced. Also, what sort of power supply would you recommend, as mine has a 240v one which I know isn't nearly enough. Any recommendations (without breaking the bank!!!)Thanks in advance!Clive.

Answer:updating graphics card and power supply

All power supplies in this country are 240v, you need to look at the wattage, there will be a label on the power supply that tells you this.Because its AGP the best you can get is either a Nvidia 7600GT or a ATI 1950 Pro. I think the 1950 Pro might be the better card.1950 pro needs 450 watts or above and the 7600GT needs the same.Better to buy a branded power supply and if you get a high rated one then later on if you want you can use it your next PC and stick the old one back with the old graphics for resale or whatever.

Thank you!

I upgraded my old windows XP with a newer version, and went through the settup smoothly. But my graphics cards drivers were not installed anymore. I bought my computer last year over the internet, and I never got a disk with driver settings. Is there a way I can get my graphics card working withought having to call my manufacturer and asking them for it?

Answer:after updating windows, no drivers for graphics card

All of the major pc sellers have websites with downloads for their products.

Otherwise, open the case, pull the graphics card and see what make and model it is . . the graphics card makers also have drivers on their websites.

At work we have a Toshiba Satelite 1730 that I wanted to upgrade the graphics card for. It's an ATI card but I was recommended to go to the manufacturer of the laptop for an update.
But at Toshiba Support I only find an update for Windows ME.
I know the laptop was delivered with Windows ME but sice then the PC support at work have upgraded it to Windows 2000.
Where can I find an update for the graphics card for Windows 2000?

Hallrar

Answer:Satelite 1730, updating graphics card

Hello

You are right about OS. This notebook model is delivered with WinME only and there is no support for other operating systems. The only thing that you can do is to search on the net the driver for your graphic card by at producer download site.

Your notebook has an ATI RAGE Mobility-C graphic chip.

Just recently bought myself a new computer, these are the specs

MSI P45 Neo2-FR motherboard
2x2gb Kingston ram
500gb seagate hdd
corsair 520w psu
MSI 9600GT graphics card
Windows xp SP2

Basically, i've updated everything, the mobo, bios and installed all other drivers except for the graphic drivers. When i do try to install the driver, having tried both from the cd provided and directly from nvidia's website (ver 178.13) http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_178.13_whql.html ; i get a notification during installation telling me that it is unsafe or something to continue installation as it is not known or something whether the graphics card i have is compatible with windows xp or something along that lines. I choose continue anyway (if i dont, it just aborts as if nothing happened) and after about a minute, just get a black screen with a "_" flashing on the top left. I reboot, get to windows xp loading page which then just hangs. From there i'd boot again in safe mode and system restore myself back.

Really don't know what's wrong so could someone please help me?

So I've been visiting the GeForce website and saw that there was an update if I searched for the GT555M drivers.

However, I've also read that it isn't a really good idea to upgrade the graphics drivers unless they're from Lenovo because of the Optimus technology.

So, is it safe to use NVidia's drivers? Or wait for Lenovo to upload an updated driver on the laptop's driver page?

PS- The GeForce site will detect your driver if you use the auto-detect button, but it will tell you that there aren't any available updates. I was able to search for my driver, however..

Answer:Updating the Graphics Card Drivers(Y570)

hi kaihong.

as you said, it's suggested to update the drivers from lenovo but you can try to update drivers from nvidia.com directly. just make sure you create a restore point just in case. if the system has any issue after, you can use windows restore to fix it.

so, you can update the drivers from nvidia if you want.

hope this helps.

After updating/installing my graphics card, I can't seem to adjust the brightness setting on my Z460. I have tried everyting but to no avail.I have tried looking into this thread, Click Me!, but I'm a bit dubious about the answer since (1) It's not official and (2) there are no other affirming responses. Besides, they say updating BIOS, when done incorrectly, can harm PC, and as far as I know I know nothing about BIOS.Please help. It really hurts looking at the screen in 100% brightness. T_T

Answer:Z460 Brightness Problem After Updating Graphics Card

Hi, if the problem occured after the update, simply roll the update back, and reboot. That should hopefully fix it.

Good afternoon,I am having issues with the touchpad driver. I really despise two point scrolling and would like one, but the current version of the ELAN software does that is available for this laptop does have the ability for single point scrolling. Is there some other software i can use to enable this or am i pretty much SOL until an update hits that brings it to the current version? I have tried accessing the Microsoft Update Catalog for the driver, but it just crashes after an attempt to move the mouse so i had to roll it back.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Jake

Just got my brand new Ideapad 520-15IKB (type BF81), and it is without optical drive. Will adding a DVD RW void my warranty?I want to get an original one with the color of my notebook, Bronze Metal.

Answer:Does IdeaPad 520-15IKB 81BF004NRI

Hi stefboy01,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

In general sense, upgrades such as adding optical drive should not void the hardware warranty as long as nothing gets damaged during and after the process taken. This however may be different from each region as Optical drives are non CRU parts (non customer replaceable parts as it would need special tools to perform).

Detailed discussion about warranty and upgrades here.

Best action plan is to just inform technical support of your planed upgrade. It would also help them document the upgrades since those we add is not part of the original in-warranty parts to avoid confusion in future repairs.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

I ordered this laptop a few months ago from Amazon and from the start it had some malfunctions like mouse glitches and speaker glitches while playing sound. I said ok I can live with that. Then progressively it started to get slower, then a few days ago the screen would suddenly turn black, so I would have to force shut down. And restarting has a 30% chance of success, if it doesn't freeze mid start-up. McAfee is newly installed and always scanning for viruses, but I can't do a full scan now without the laptop freezing and quiting. I don't know if it's a problem from windows 10 or the laptop. Maybe both. Can someone please help and advise what to do. Thank you.
