Preferred Solution: Bluetooth connection issues on G560 laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all,

I have a Motorola Rizr Z3 that I am trying to connect via Bluetooth to my computer. I bought a Bluetooth USB dongle and plugged it in, which shows as having installed with no conflicts.

In the devices menu, I selected Add Device, then set my phone as findable. Once Windows recognised my phone, I selected it, then selected to pair it with with a code. I've tried both automatically as well as creating my own pairing code to no avail. I get the system error below.

Quote:
Adding this Device to this computer failed.

Adding the device failed resulting in an unknown error. The reported error is 0x0004005.

Contact your device manufacturer for assistance.

Does anyone have any idea or suggestions in regards to this one?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just tried doing the same thing on my laptop, which has a 64bit install of W7 RC, and it's the same thing. So, I'm willing to guess it's not hardware related, as least as far as the computers go. The cellphone itself may be another story.

Answer:Bluetooth: Cellphone/PC connection issues

Try not to pair it with with a code.
You can add code later.

Hi
Surprise surprise, issues with bluetooth headset.

I've got mine to connect, but when I tried to do it for my partner, all seems to fail. The main issue I have is to make the microphone to work. The laptop seems to be able to recognise, but not use.

Here are some screenshots I took.

This is a screenshot of the bluetooth headset being recognised by her computer as it appears in the bluetooth device settings.

This is a screen shot of the bluetooth recognising the bluetooth microphone in the recording devices menu on my laptop.
This is a screen shot of the same bluetooth headset not being connected to her laptop in the recording devices menu.

If there are any suggestions, please feel free to post.

Thanks

Vince

I recently purchased a refurbished G560 0649 that came without the optional Bluetooth module. I would like to add bluetooth to the unit but I'm having difficulty confirming which parts to buy/install. I found the description of the parts in the Lenovo G560 Hardware Maintenance Manual (p75 #14)... http://consumerdl.lenovo.cdn20.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User's%20guides%20and%20manuals/G460-G560/... The part description(s) are as follows: Bluetooth card, BT2.1 + ED, Fcn BCM92070 BT2.1 EDR Flash U NB OR Bluetooth card, BT2.1 + ED, USI BCM92070 BT2.1 EDR Flash U NB So, here are my questions: Will any BCM92070 work? Which cable do I need? Is the Lenovo FRU # 20002266 the right daughter board? Will the Lenovo FRU # 31042935 - Bluetooth Cable fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Mike

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

Answer:Yoga 13 Bluetooth Issues (Headphone Connection)

I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset with Windows, but check: 1.  Right-click on the sound tray icon, select Playback devices.  Does it show a 2nd bluetooth headset device in addition to Speakers?  If so, left-click on it and try the "Set Default" dropown menu on the bottom to make it the Default device (or some other option that works better). 2.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933144 3.  http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/making-bluetooth-headset-default-audio-device/87178.html

My Bluetooth connection is totally erratic, I have a nokia 1020 with my band since today and cant make them stayed connected. I have deleted all other connections and the issue persist. Its like cycling between connect and disconnect and doesnt even allow cortana to work

Answer:Why am I having Bluetooth connection issues between my Nokia 1020 and the band?

I'd like to bump this because I'm having the same exact issue. Cortana doesn't work at all. I had to reset the band 2-3 times before it'd finally at least work/sync. Hopefully it's a software issue.

Hi! I have a Lenovo G560 notebook, with Windows 7 64bit, and i cannot use my bluetooth device.I have downloaded the drivers from /consumersupport.lenovo.com, i've instaled them, but the device is not working. Also, i have downloaded the Energy Management and HotKey tools, but here everything looks ok. In device manager the bluetooth adapter and the bluetooth enumerator seems to be installed corectly, but there are 5 items called Bluetooth Peripheral Devices that are not installed (i cannot update the driver from the list of installed drivers on my machine, and another driver doesn't exists). please see Device Manager and Fn+F5 Also, i can use no function from the tasksbar's bluetooth menu ("show bluetooth devices" returns nothing, "add a device" can not find anything, "open settings" is not working etc.).In conclusion, i don't know what is the problem, and i strongly need help.  Also, i need a full technical datasheet for the bluetooth device (for an application that i want to develop). I searched on the technical support pages from Lenovo and Broadcom (the manufacturer of the bluetooth device) and i didn't find anything in details(only "commercial' specifications). Do you have any ideas where i can find those information? Thanks for yours answers! P.S Sorry for my bad english

Answer:bluetooth not found in my lenovo g560 windows 8.1 64bit

hi RAJUPUROHIT,

Welcome to the Forums.

Prior to installing Windows 8.1, were you able to use the bluetooth functionality before?

If bluetooth was working before you upgraded to Win8.1, try the following:

Turn off the computer and remove the AC adapter and battery.
Press and hold the power button for 30secs then reconnect the AC adapter and battery.
Turn ON the computer and press F2 to boot into the BIOS, when you're in, press F9 to reset BIOS to defaults and press F10 to save and exit.
Boot into Windows and open Device Manager (press the Windows key? +R, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter)) and see if you have a Bluetooth Module installed.

If the bluetooth device is still not showing, try to install these drivers and reboot:
Lenovo Energy Management

v5.4.0.8

Bluetooth Driver installer
   - this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, try pairing a bluetooth device and observe.

When finished, press Fn+F5 and check if you have the option to turn ON Wireless & Bluetooth (see image below). If these options aren't available, make sure the physical wireless switch is turned ON.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

I have an identical phone to when I was able to connect b4 I lost it.
I would have expected to be able to connect with no hassle but to no avail.
The laptop recognises my phone and vice versa.
The message when trying to connect says "there was a hardware failure in the modem or other device".and......."Could not detect modem,it may not be in use, turned off,or not installed properly"

I`ve tested the modem and it`s working properly so I wonder if anyone can help.
God bless for now,

What a mess. I'm having issues with my wireless bluetooth (machine does have the capability), and I've tried dozens of fixes found both here and in the Microsoft and Lenovo sites. Nothing is working.

The problem started back in June with the Windows update issue. My pc is now finally searching, and finding, updates. What isn't fixed is the wireless bluetooth capability.

Prior to June, I was able to connect wireless devices (headsets, etc.) to the PC. They have since disappeared from the printers and devices window, and no matter what I do, I can't get them back.

Here's what I've tried:
Updating drivers from Lenovo site
Updating software from Windows
Starting/restarting the services
sfc (no integrity violations found)

Errors Received:
bluetooth peripheral device doesn't have a driver (cannot update/search)
device driver software was not successfully installed

In services, the following are marked as automatic but will not start:
bluetooth device monitor
bluetooth media service
bluetooth OBEX service
When I try to start them, I get this error:
Windows could not start the <name> service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Bluetooth Settings are set to allow discovery, however, under COM ports, when I try to remove COM 8 and COM9 (with names associated), it says "The specified service does not exist."

Hello and welcome NoMoreLenovos mate I can sympathise with you because I use Blu tooth mice wherever I can.

So have you tried going to Notification Area Icons - bottom right taskbar and I keep the Blu tooth on the taskbar and if you click on it it will open a window that asks to Show Blu tooth devices click on that and it will open and show you what is available. When you click on any device it will ask you to do several things including troubleshoot - try that and let us know what is there and what happens.

I am looking for some assistance in getting my bluetooth feature to work on my current laptop. I made a frugal attempt to contact HP directly for support and was told (after a very frustrating and difficult conversation to understand with my support personnel) that because my product was out of warranty, they would not even DISCUSS my issue at hand. Considering this, I opted to hit the forums for advice.

The problem at hand is when trying to set the "Discovery" option which allows other devices to see my computer, I get the following error message:

"An error occured while windows was trying to save your settings. The bluetooth device might be unplugged."

My bluetooth device is onboard. I am suspecting a drive possibly, but cannot find any drivers online for this device. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have a Samsung NP700Z5B-S01UB running Windows 7 64-bit. It's been a great computer and I've had no issues that I couldn't manage, but for the past few months it has been having an issue I just can't seem to get fix. The computer comes with Bluetooth built in and the Bluetooth had worked without issue for 2 years or so. When about six months ago it decided to stop working. I tried to update the drivers, but windows does not even recognize that the hardware is there. I thought it was possible that the hardware may have failed, but after doing a system rollback the Bluetooth started working. It worked for a few months, but has started up again. I removed a few windows update that I found others were having issues with which did not help. It seems to be related to windows updates given that every time it stops working if I roll the system back to before the most recent update the Bluetooth usually comes back, but this time it brought the Bluetooth options back but still doesn't see the hardware at all. I've checked all the services and all of the necessary services are running, but I'm coming up empty. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Newbie!
I am re-opening the thread on Bluetooth Mouse loss when coming out of power save as I cannot find any solution to this, or mention of the situation I have!
I have a Toshiba Sat Pro running Vista Home Premium 32bit with Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, Logitech 5000 mouse & keyboard.
This problem has only recently started & must be the result of a MS security download!
When I come out of power save I noticed that my Bluetooth icon was static, when I checked the Bluetooth settings I found it was showing Bluetooth as enabled, I then set it to disable & then re-enabled straight away and got my connection back, (this also affects the keyboard!)
Maybe this info will generate an idea regarding the problem.

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but I'm just going to guess that it is.

I recently upgraded my desktop from 7 to 10. I used to connect my laptop (already using 10) to my desktop via Bluetooth and it allowed me to select the desktop pc's speakers as audio output, effectively mixing both computers' audio through my headphones attached to the desktop. This is no longer something my computers seem to do; literally all that has changed is that I upgraded the desktop OS and I would have assumed this is something windows10 can do but the Bluetooth menu is almost comically unhelpful.
It used to be relatively easy to do this in 7 but I am at a loss as to how to do this in 10. Is this functionality somehow not a part of Win10?

Hi everyone, I've been trying to use a Logitech ultrathin touch bluetooth mouse and microsoft sculpt mobile bluetooth keyboard with my ideapad. I'm running Windows 8.1.  Both work fine for a while but then it appears they lose the bluetooth connection. This seems to often coincide with access network/internet over WiFi. The only solution is to call up the Bluetooth manage devices setting and let it reconnect.  If I leave the manage bluetooth device page open on a second screen it helps, but clearly its not ideal!  I was running the Lenovo driver for Bluetooth but I've tried removing it and using the Generic Windows driver to see if that helps.  So far though the same happened after a short while. Any ideas? Many thanks and apologies if someone else has answered this query previously. Simon

Answer:Any advice to fix dropping bluetooth connection on ideapad flex 14 i3 laptop?

Install the bluetooth driver that came with the computer. Windows update probably updated the driver automatically. The new drivers are garbage on the Y2P. Once you install that driver, disable any Windows update pertaining to that driver.

I have installed the most recent drivers for my bluetooth and wifi devices. I have also installed the latest Win10 updates. This wifi and bluetooth problem has been around for a while. If my laptop starts up with bluetooth on, I cannot connect to the wifi until bluetooth is off. Then when i can turn on bluetooth while the wifi is still on. Sometimes, if i turn bluetooth on while wifi is on, the wifi will turn off and there is no possible way to connect to the same wifi connection again (I can connect to other wifi), until i restart my computer. Sometimes when i disconnect bluetooth by going out of range or closing the flap, sometimes it reconnects, sometimes after turning the bluetooth off to start it up again, it just wont start. I have a feeling that running wifi and bluetooth at the same time is sacrificing significant wifi speed.

Hello folks,

my name is lynn. I have been told on a different forum that my laptop does not have bluetooth on it. So, i went and bought a bluetooth adaptor made by targis. It is a usb device. I have it installed with all drivers. I have a bluetooth iblue 737a+ gps receiver; again, all drivers installed on my laptop for it. For some unknown reason, my computer sees the bluetooth adaptor, but refuses to see the bluetooth GPS receiver. I have had it up at Office depot all morning since i bought the adaptor there, but they could not figure out the problem either. The receiver can be seen when connected via a usb mini cable, but the program i wish to use it with, microsoft streets and trips, requires i use it with bluetooth and not a cable. The adaptor doesn?t see my Windows Mobile phone either. I know the GPS and phone are working properly and fully charged because they see each other and I can use my GPS program on my phone with no problem. . I am out of options and/or ideas. Can anyone suggest anything else i should try? I do have an account on msn and would be happy to voice or video chatg there if someone needs to explain something lengthy to me. Oh, and i am blind so use a screen reader to operate my windows 7 lalptop, but that should not have any bearing on figuring this confounded thign out!! :)

thanks, lynn w.

Hi wfdavidsiu,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Based from your post I would first suggest you update your Wireless driver from the support site. http://support.lenovo.com. and check for the changes then.

On another note, do you have any third party wireless software managing your wireless. Some software such as Proset Wireless can causing somewhat of a conflict and it is best to disable or uninstall them and let widows manage the wireless.

I'm encountering performance issues after a random time with my G560 Laptop. I couldn't correlate any software within this problem, so I guess it's more about drivers/BIOS... I'm running Win7 64bit actually. The performance drop is random timed but doesn't wear off after some time, it persists the whole "session" (until a reboot). The mouse is lagging like hell and there can't be neither sound nor video displayed with an appropiate framerate.Any ideas?

I am facing the following issues with my G560. It was purchased on 11/26/2010. Overheating - The laptop heats up and turns off after a continuous usage of 2-3 hours. Hinges - The plastic portion covering the hinges came off within 6 months. I continued using the laptop and now the metal hinge has come out and the wires have come out and I think the hinge may have been broken as well since I see a metal portion protruding below the monitor. Can someone help me understand how to get these fixed.

Answer:Hinge and heating Issues with my G560

Rajesh,

Welcome to the forum.  I received your private message with additional information and based on your indicated purchase date, the system should be under warranty.

Since you are in warranty, both of these issues should be able to be addressed by service.  The hinge sounds like it should be covered unless the system were dropped or otherwise incurred damage from use.

The number to call for support is 877-453-6686

Please follow up with me by private message if you need more help on this after calling support.

Apologies that you have troubles, but I feel confident that we should be able to resolve them.

Best regards,

I have had my G560 since early 2010, and the wifi has alwaya worked untill now. Suddenly when I got home, it was switched off for whatever reason and I dont know how to fix it.Before you simply say "press Fn+F5" I have this to say - That is NOT the problem. When I do press that it says "please switch on the wireless device" which I don't know how to do. I troubleshooted and it said that "windows wireless capability is turned off". Now for whatever reason it seems impossible to turn it back on as I have no idea how.Disenabling and enabling the driver doesn't work, neither does Fn F5.Any help would be appreciated.

I recently purchased a G560-0679, and I love it. The only problem I have is with my internet connection sometimes. Every now and then it will say I do not have a connection, and upon repair say my ethernet cord is broken. This cannot be - it's not much older than this laptop. To fix it I have to shutdown and unplug my modem for a few seconds and when I boot back up it usually fixes it. It's not my ISP either - I've been with them for years and never had this problem until I bought this laptop. Also, I went to a free wi-fi hotspot (library) and it would never allow me internet access (wi-fi turned on). Although the icon said I had internet access, webpages would not load. I'm fairly computer literate but I could not assess the problem. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Hello, I am an IT Technician for an electric cooperative. I am having a very odd issue that I can not seem to resolve and I am in need of assistance.

We have 4 Dell Latitude notebooks all running XP and we also have some very high end GPS units made by Trimble that we are going to be using to stake out points on a map. Whenever I connection through bluetooth with the GPS I am able to pair but the GPS control software never recognizes it when I chose the COM port assigned to it. Whenever I connect it directly through a cable(serial to usb) it never detects it either.

However this is the odd part, when I test this on my desktop I am able to connect just fine with the exact same method.

Any ideas?

Are you aware of any differences in your Desktop and the laptops? Like Service Pack is different, or maybe a BIOS setting?

Hello Everyone,

I've got two different laptops with the same issues, They're able to connect to the network whether Wireless or on the NIC. They're able to pull IP and even ping any website, But, No matter what internet browser I use, I cannot access any webpages whatsoever. I've tested with both laptops and they appear to be having identical issues, one is a 2006 Dell latitude 9000 ( I think) and the other is a HP Pavillion dv2000.

If you guys have seen this at all or if you have any idea what might be causing this , please let me know.

Thanks,

hey all see if anyone can help me I have been going crazy trying to get this thing to work properly. problem is I have a laptop that has a lot of drops and packet loss to my wireless router. I have 2 laptops and 3 desktops connected to the wireless and the laptop is the only one that's having problems. I ping the router and sometimes its 1-2 like its sapose to be then often it comes out anywere from 100-3000ms and I don't understand why. so far I tried to upgrade from vista 32 bit where it was having this problem so I went to 64 bit still same problem I thought it was the wireless card so I replaced it and the same problem persists. I connect straight to the router and it works properly except it losses connection once a hour like clock work which is a hole other problem but not really bothered by it atm. and the Signal is always at 100%. I already format the computer as well thinking might be a virus or something causing this issue and still no help. so anyone might have a insight on what this could be I would be thankful.

Hi.
My laptop just randomly started to ignore my home wifi and it doesn't appear in my available networks list. I tried getting closer to the source but it isn't the problem. My neighbor's network comes up and so does my library's, showing that the wireless adapter does work but not for my laptop.
For other computers and devices on my network, they work fine and without problems.

Occasionally while I'm playing a game, my ping would rise up to 400 or more.

Which connection? Wifi or wired? If it's wifi, then who knows what the problem is - your router and/or distance to it most likely.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium G560 model and out of the box, the WiFi would be set up to automatically connect to my home network when in range. Usually, it would connect to it as soon as it is booted up from stanby mode but recently, it takes from 30 seconds to 1 minute to find the connection and connect automatically. The WiFi adapter is on as when I click on the icon, I can see my home network SSID is in range but the computer takes a lot longer than usual to find and connect to it automatically. Also when I am connected the icon does not changed to the white bars. It stays on the icon that means "wireless networks available" (bars with the yellow sun dot) although when it is attempting to connect, it is the bars with the blue circle. Also when it is not connected to any wireless networks but detects there are some in range, the bar with the yellow sun dot is present as it should be. any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone. My last topic dissapeared, I can't find it on forum.I'm experiencing some problems with my laptop Lenovo G560 (3000). The reason I decided to flash my BIOS it's my laptop has problem with Graphics - I mean, my device manager is not detecting Integrated Graphics. nVidia Optimus is not working correctly when Integrated Graphics driver is not installed. The reason I'm writing here it is because I can't update my BIOS to newer version (or in future to install unlocked bios to control my VGA). When I launch NIWEx215_X64.exe - it opens, but after miliseconds - freezes on Initialize. Time is not elapsing, I can't controll mouse cursor. Just completly hanged. After "hard" switching off, everything is okay. It is failing on initialize so my BIOS is not being damaged. Is there any other option to flash my BIOS? Maybe there is an option to flash it not from windows?I unpacked NIWEx215_X64.exe and noticed there is a file named NIWEx215.rom. What I'm supposed to do? My BIOS inside (rev 3.5):   My system:Windows 7 Home Premium 1) My laptop had problem with graphics in the past. It was sent to Lenovo. They said they changed Motherboard.2) My laptop also has problem with speakers. I mean they work for a few minutes but then they stop for a few seconds, and again work, ang again... After reinstalling drivers, system AND ALSO AFTER THE LENOVO CHANGED MOTHERBOARD problem is present. So I think it might be possible ... Read more

Answer:G560 BIOS - InsydeH2o executable file freezes. Also GPU issues. Please help me.

In regards to the BIOS upgrade, the BIOS update you downloaded from Lenovo is actually a version that is older than what is installed on your computer.  That may account for why it is not installing.

NIWEx215_X64.exe  is version 29CN38WW.  You have version 29CN40WW installed.

With all the other problems you are having did you ever do a One Key Recovery to restore the laptop back to a like new condition ?  If the laptop worked good when brand new a recovery might be a good way to fix the various problems you are having.  Downside is the recovery will erase your present operating system so you will have to backup any files you want to save and you will have to do the Windows Update that were released since the laptop was first purchased.

Page #25 of your model's User Guide will explain how to do the One Key Recovery.  Also if you never used One Key Recovery to make a set of recovery disks, now maybe a good time.  The process will create about 2 DVDs that can be used to restore the computer in the event the hard drive is ever replaced.  The link below is for your model's User Guide.

Hi,

I have recently purchased a new Toshiba Satellite C660-195. I am however having problems with the wireless connection. When I bought the laptop it was full of all the annoying and resource hungry programs Toshiba install on there. I reinstalled Windows back on the laptop, only installing the drivers and software I wanted/needed. I am having problems with the wireless staying connected. I can detect wireless networks and connect to the one I want to be on, which I must add is a home connection (I am not stealing ). However, the connection on the wireless keeps dropping, becoming "limited" as it states in the system tray icon but then comes back on and the process just keeps spiralling on, on and off.

The wireless I am connecting works absolutely fine using Xbox consoles, at first I figured it could be the router but after a second thought figured if the wireless on the Xbox is fine then I surely must not be the case? The laptop is Windows 7 64bit

This is the laptop itself..... click here

Thanks,

Luke

I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to fix something similar. Uninstalled all the irritating Acer programs from a laptop, one kept slowing down the CPU power no matter how I set it.

Now there is no touchpad and no wireless connection.

Have you double checked that you have windows7 x64 compatible drivers? Where did you load them from? Toshiba or the device site?

don't really know where to START with this...
got a new router... DLink DIR-655.. everything is ok to connect to it, but one XP computer with a DLink Airplus DWL 650+ refuses to. It won't acquire a network address and keeps getting reset to Open WEP and saying it's missing an encryption key, though it should be set to WPA-PSK.

on the router, it's set to
security mode: WPA-Personal
WPA Mode : Auto
Cipher Type : TKIP and AES

now in XP SP3 it only gives the option of TKIP when WPA-PSK is selected.. but i imagine that shouldn't be a problem since it shoudl use that with WPA.

Just trying to get this silly little computer on the network and I can't think of anything else to try after reinstalling the network card drivers and trying it with zero point networking or whatever it's called disabled...

also.. what are the best settings for the WAN if i'm more concerned with speed than security?

thanks

Answer:laptop wireless connection issues

Is it possible the card or drivers are too old to support WPA? Did you download the latest drivers? I also see someone saying that you need to use WZC for WPA, the D-Link client apparently only supports WEP.

I want to set up my connection to my tv so that I can have netflix on the browser and playing through my tv while being able to do other things with my laptop and have Netflix remain constant on the tv. I have it connected using an HDMI cord but can't figure out how to set it up so Netflix plays through the tv and I can still do whatever else on my laptop. :/ My laptop is an Acer Aspire 7560G-8612.

Answer:Laptop to TV Connection/Control Issues?

Okay, I managed to figure this out for myself seeing as no one here really knew how to do this. You extend the tv as a second screen to the laptop by going into screen resolution and hit "Apply" then "Ok" when it asks if you want to keep these settings. Keep your laptop as your main display and the tv as your secondary display.. After that, you open up the browser and drag it from the laptop screen onto the tv screen and use netflix that way.

I am currently using an ASUS G51J series laptop with Windows 7.

I bought it last July, and ever since I've been having trouble with internet connections. It's started to bother me so much that I'm going to seek help.

Whenever I visit a page with a large number of images (say, google image search or certain blog pages), my computer disconnects from the network. It does this both at home and at my university. Moreover, it is ONLY my computer that disconnects from the network, the internet itself does not go down.

This also happens when I am downloading large files, like a video game. The same actions on a different computer on the same network does not cause it to disconnect. Only my laptop is having these problems. All my drivers are up to date.

I'm thinking that this has to do with some setting that I have. Does anyone know what it could be? It's very frustrating to have to unplug my router every time I do an image search (yes, unplugging the router for ten seconds fixes the problem every time).

This also occurs with different web browsers, although on different sites. Google images never goes down on chrome, but when I google image search with firefox, the internet's done.

Help appreciated

Answer:Connection issues on ASUS laptop

I saw "All my drivers are up to date" but I still have to start with them. Are the networking drivers the latest from Asus's web site? They should be. If you are relying on Device Manager or Windows Update that could be the problem.

This is happening both with ethernet and wireless connections?

Another good possibility is the need for a stack reset ...

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or 7.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

A friend asked me to look at her laptop but I haven't been able to figure out what's wrong with it. It's an Acer ES1-531 and is having loads of issues with maintaining a network connection. Quite often, there won't even be an option to search for wireless networks. There's no single thing that always gets it up and running though. Sometimes disabling and re-enabling the network adapter in hardware settings works, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I have to uninstall it completely and reinstall it. Sometimes that doesn't even work though and other times all it needs is a reboot. I've updated to the latest drivers and it didn't make a difference. The router is working fine as there are no issues with other devices.

Any suggestions as to what the issue could be? Thanks in advance.

I have a couple people wanting me to set up their laptops to connect
(wireless) at different locations. And they are not candidates to be
changing their IP addresses everytime. I tried setting up hardware profiles,
which would have been good cuz you can specify which network to connect to
as well. Only problem is... the configurations don't stick! Even though they
say hardare profiles are for devices and configuration settings.. not so...
nothing would stay when I did it, unless I did something wrong. So I found
this program http://zqware.com/products.htm#1
IP shifter, and I downloaded a trial. It looks like it will do what I need,
as long as I put all the networks in the "networks avail" area. But it's
only a 14 day trial and then they want 20$ and I want to put this on several
computers.

thank you very much

Hello, I have been having very annoying problems with my laptops internet connectivity. Frequently it will just drop internet connectivity, when I mouse over my networking on the taskbar it says I am connected to my network with a full strength signal, but it says "no internet". I either have to switch my wireless switch off then back on, or disconnect then reconnect to my network to get the internet back. Sometimes if I am lucky it will come back on its own after a few seconds. This happens way to much, at least every 3 hours, and sometimes it will happen up to 10 times in 1 hour.

Also, while I am connected to the internet, my speed constantly peaks, then drops down to almost nothing or completely stops, then peaks again, then drops back down again, and it is a non-stop cycle. If I happen to try to load a web page while the speed is dropped, it won't load the page, if I wait a second or two for the speed to rise again it will load properly. I have been able to verify that my speed is doing this because EVERY single time I try to download something now, whether it be via direct download or a torrent, I can see my speed rising and dropping. When I play an online game, sometimes I constantly get disconnected, other times it will play for an hour or two and it will seem to be just fine the whole time.

I recently formatted my hard drive and did a fresh install of windows 7 from vista, about 2 months ago or so. This has been going on for some time now, but I want ... Read more

Was back home a couple days ago, and was able to connect to my parents router and browse w/o any problems once again. And my roomies do not have a problem connecting wirelessly and browsing through this router.

I have Comcast internet running through a provided Netgear wireless router.

I tried disabling the firewall, but that didn't work...Comcast tried all their magic for a good half hour but nothing happened.

Can anyone please help?

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. If successful re-enable encryption and reconnect.

If unsuccessful with either try please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.

I am having similar difficulties, perhaps related?  I have a Lenovo G560 with wi-fi driver intel wi-fi link 1000 bgn.  The issue I have is with connection to my home network only.  This machine will successfully connect to other wireless networks, both public and secured (I provide a key).  I have tested as following:
I successfully connected to wireless network at work, McDonalds, Tim Horton's, etc.
I shut the machiee down, took it home and restarted at home.  I checked the wireless connections, and found my home network, 4 bars strength, and shows connected and internet active.  I launched IE and successfully connected to the internet.
Then, I connected the ethernet cable and our LAN hard-wired connection shows as connected, as well as the wireless network (they show up as two different network names), both connected.  I tested internet access and was successful.
I then disconnected the ethernet cable, again check the network connections, see my network listed and showing connected.  HOWEVER, now although the network says connected and with internet access, I am no longer able to connect to any websites, gives 'cannot display web page'.  Restarting the machine does not seem to correct the issue.

I've run into a really annoying issue with my Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. It uses the Realtek 8192E wireless NIC.

I recently (in January) ditched my WRT610N router for a Netgear WNDR3700. The WRT610N got hit by a surge in December, and started losing its settings every few days, and needing to be reconfigured from scratch every few days. I'd had it for two years, and never been satisfied with range or speed.

Netgear worked fine at first. I tested it with my desktop machine, which is connected wirelessly (and runs Windows 7) and with my laptop which also runs Windows 7 and connects wirelessly.

A few weeks ago, the laptop started having weird problems.

Intermittently (every 30-60 seconds) a little yellow exclamation mark would appear over the bars showing internet strength, and the laptop wouldn't be able to access *anything*. Then, the exclamation mark would go away, and I'd be able to use it...then 60 seconds later, it would be back, and I'd lose connectivity again.

When it's working, it's slow......it's dropped from getting speeds of about 38 Mbps for file transfer to about 500 Kbps.

I have a Dell Ispiron 1720 running vista. It was a gift from my uncle.
Once I connect it to a monitor (using VGA connections) it will run the start up (I can see this all on the monitor)and always ask if I would like to run safe mode etc.
If I choose the regular start up, it will show the loading then loose signal instantly and black screen
Now if i choose any of the safe modes it will load on that said monitor, no problems.
I have no idea what the issue is... But I cant exactly do much when in safe modes.
If someone could help me with this Id be greatly appreciative since all I have to work with because of this problem is a bleeping E-Machine.

Im guessing it has to do with the configuration in the regular start up with split screens etc, but I do not know how to fix it is I can not see it...

So yea.

Thanks!

Answer:Display-less laptop, connection to monitor issues.

so, laptop monitor is dead ? or you are trying to run dual monitors ?

while in safe mode. go to Control Panel -> hardware -> Display . see if it will detect the external monitor

I have an Advent 6311 laptop that is about 1.5 years old. The internet connection has always been fine up until recently when it started to become intermittent and now refuses to connect at all. I initially assumed it was an issue with the internet provider, but my sister's laptop is working fine on the wireless system and the main computer that is connected to the internet via an ethernet cable is also working. I'm now wondering if it is an issue with the laptop, and wondered if anyone might have any advice concerning settings/set-up or anything else that could solve the problem.

The laptop picks up the router on the 'connect to' page and says it has a strong signal, but fails to connect and tells me that the router has a low signal strength. I can't see how this is possible if my sister's is working, and I am always in the same room as the router!

I have tried turning everything off and on again, changed the filter for the modem/phone line, have plugged it straight in with an ethernet cable (it works that way) and have moved the router around. The wireless switch is definitely on, and I've deleted the internet connection and re-added it.
I am using Windows Vista home, a wireless connection, my ISP is Tiscali and the router/moden is a Siemens gigaset SE587.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Answer:Wireless connection issues - Advent laptop

Hi:Just some thoughts.
wHEN THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN WERE any hardware/software changes made ?
You might go to your pc maker's web site and download/install any more current wireless network adapter drivers for your model. You will probably have to download them to a working pc and export them to a disc then import them onto your problem pc.
And if that does not help,we will probably need to look at the networking environment that the pc thinks it sees.

My keyboard won't stay connected to the Bluetooth. Windows disabled the Bluetooth and gave this messge: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." What is this and how do I fix it? I can't get my Logitech K810 keybaord to stay connected. It pairs, and works for awhile, then disconnests, even though it says it is connected. Driver update says the drivers in place are the right ones. I've also tried Bluetooth dongles to connect with, but I get the same problem -- connects for a while and then disconnects.

I just set up win 8 on my computer and was going thru the process of connecting my bluetooth mouse and my bluetooth keyboard. My mouse connected automatically, no problems. When I went to connect my keyboard I got the usual prompt asking you to enter the code, but the code was not accepted no matter how many times I tried. I know for a fact that this keyboard works, because it works fine on my Win 7 OS on the same computer. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

I am using at linksys wrt110 router to connect to the internet. I had my dell desktop running XP ired into the router and everything was fine. when I use my laptop either wireless or wired into the second connection on the router, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to establish a connection.

I had this same problem and I opened a thread but I could not do the recommendation that terrynet sugested because the laptop ws a work laptop and I did not have admin rights to do the netsh commands.
I have now replaced the desktop with a dell latitude e6400 laptop running windows 7 pro. I am having the same issue where it takes 5 minutes.

I did the three netsh commands
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

and I am still having the issue. I am not sure how long it is suppose to take to connect a laptop wirelessly to the net. maybe 5 minutes is what it takes.

terrynet also asked "What firewall or security suite is, or ever was, on the laptop's system?". ia m not sure how to find this. i can get to the "windows firewall' section in control panel, but I am not sure what you want to tell you.
I am including the ipconfig all stats

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop with Windows 7 32bit Home Premium Edition 1GB RAM. i had to take it apart to replace the dc port in it last week and then also had to replace the ac adapter as well. Now that i have it back together and everything works it won't connect to the wireless internet. I don't have my own internet currently so i tried various public access points. It will detect a network (though no signal) but won't connect even though everyone else can connect. I'm using a desktop at the public library currently. All my drivers are updated and it says everything is working properly. It's a Broadband 802.11g wireless network adapter. ok, change that from won't connect to EXTREMELY low signal. i'm right next to the router and have 1 bar for a signal and it connected. Any ideas what's going on with my signal issues?

I just purchased a new laptop yesterday and I'm already having intermittent connection issues. I have an Asus X83v, with 64bit Vista and I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox. I also have a Linksys Wireless- G Router, model WRT54G2 v.1. So I brought the laptop home and the internet worked properly for about 30 minutes, then all of a sudden, browsers would not work anymore. This problem has continued all last night and tonight. I have to either disconnect or repair to fix the problem. I was at my mother's house all day today and my computer had no problem staying connected to her Linksys router. We've had this router for about 6 months and both of our laptops running XP have not had any problem with this router. Oh, I also checked IE and that wouldn't bring pages up either. And I already downloaded the newest firmware for the router. And made sure the drivers for my wifi was updated. Please help!

Answer:Solved: intermittent connection issues w/ new Vista laptop

That router is pretty ancient at v.1, you bought this new 6 months ago?
Did you reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure after loading the latest firmware?

Changes that may help to increase the compatibility of Vista with older networking devices:

Disable the IP Helper service:

1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Scroll down to the IP Helper service, right click on it and select Properties
3. In the dropdown box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to Disabled and then click on "Apply"
4. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
5. Click OK to exit the dialog

Disable IPv6:

1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "ncpa.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Right click on each network connection and select "Properties"
3. Remove the checkmark from the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
4. Click OK to exit the dialog

NOTE: You should do this for each network connection.

Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:

Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

Hold the Windows key and type R, enter regedit and press Enter.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}
In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey to be updated.

Belkin 750 DB Wireless N+ router

I started having problems with wireless connections months ago, just started using a cat5 cable at home and didn't do anything about it. Don't know if it started happening after I installed new software or after I installed new driver updates from Acer. I think I might have installed the wrong wireless driver update, had to uninstall it, and then reinstall the Broadcom drivers. Anyway, after I did that, I started getting BSOD crashes after a couple of hours or so of being on wireless on the laptop. Wired works just fine, and that's why I started just using the cat5 line.

So, last week, I decided to try to fix the problem again. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Broadcom wireless drivers a few times, and it is better now, but still not right. Before it crashed and gave a BSOD after a couple of hours. After I un & re-installed the drivers, now I get a day or maybe even 2 on wireless, then it drops the wireless connection and no matter how many times I run the network troubleshooter, windows can't correct the problem.

Now here's the odd thing to me. The computer is finding the wireless network, apparently even Win 7 is finding it, because it says networks available, and you can click on that and it shows the home network and has a connect button -... Read more

I had to fix a friends laptop today from the phone because she lives in another city. She has Windows7 and apparently the machine was freezing quite often. Checking her config.sys to find out what was loading at start up I found she had 8 entries with the manufacturer marked as "Unknown". Told her to remove the check mark from them and re boot and it became worst.

Searching on the web I found how to re install Windows7 on a Lenovo G560 from the D:\ drive and we went through the process and all looks fine so far.

But now she has an icon in the taskbar which says "Drive D: has not enough space" and checking the drive I found that out of 30GB space there is only 3MB free space. All files on that drive looks like they are Windows files and she has no private files in there.

Anyone knows why this icon appeared and what I have to do to fix it?

Hi forums, Firstly, I hope this is the correct place to post...if it isn't could you please tell me where to post or have a mod relocate this post  The other day I tried turning on my laptop and the screen stayed black but I heard the windows 7 login sound play and the status lights all turn on. The fan also spins so I know the laptop is working. Furthermore I can hook it up to an external monitor and it works fine. I did also notice that the screen goes from nothing to a kind of darker black than when it is off, when I turn the laptop on. Even though it is still black it looks like something happened. This is only noticeable when I watch the screen closely as I press the power button, otherwise it would still appear to be off. I am sure I haven't done anything to it as earlier in the day I was using the laptop with no problems for one of my classes at uni and then later I got it back out from the bag that I securely store it in and I had this problem. I am not sure as to what I can do. Hopefully I can fix this easily myself without having to replace anything. However the laptop is still under warranty and I will take it in if I have to. Also I will be making an unrelated trip to the store that I purchased it from this week, should I take the laptop there or contact lenovo directly if I am to follow warranty procedures? Thanks in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I was wondering whether you could help, ever since I bought my custom built Sony Vaio Duo 13 SVD1321C5E Hybrid Laptop back in July/August 2013 I keep on experiencing intermittent connection issues where the connection keeps on dropping
when browsing the Internet, remotely accessing the network at work using Remote Desktop and downloading files in which I have to keep on switching between our broadband connection as well as my 4G connection in order to temporarily fix
the problem as well as switching between the dongle Sony provided to me when I complained back in 2013 with again switching between our broadband connection as well as my 4G connection in order to temporarily fix the problem.
I'm now at a point where I am so tempted to reinstall the laptop using a fresh of copy of Windows 8 Pro as it came with this OS to begin with in which it has now been upgraded to Windows 8.1 with the latest Sony drivers, I did upgrade to Windows
10 Pro last month but was informed by Sony on their information pages that a couple of the laptop features wouldn't work when upgrading to Windows 10 Pro in which downgraded within the 30 days of upgrading to Windows
10 Pro and had to do a further refresh as the display tiles on the Metro screen in Windows 8.1 Pro wouldn't display properly and reverted back to Windows 8 Pro with all the software that came... Read more

I have the machine set to Sleep when lid is shut (and it does) - but within a short time (sometimes 1 minute, sometimes longer) it will wake up again, even with the lid shut.  This happens even though there is nothing plugged in apart from the power supply and a wireless mouse transmitter/receiver. It also happens if I put the laptop to sleep manually (via the "shut down" menu) and then close the lid.

Answer:G560 laptop wakes up a few minutes after I shut the lid.

one of the software you installed may cause this issue. ( could be windows update )if you remember the last time that your computer worked properly, use windows restore. if you don't, try to perform clean windows installation.( you can also try to re-install power management before system recovery )

Long story short - I spilt water over my laptop keyboard and uplugged both AC cable and battery. 3 to 4 days later i plugged it in again, placed the battery and it was charging and running on it without any problem for 2 hours. Then i decided that it's just fine so I plugged the AC cable and I haven't used it on battery for 20-30 days. Well, today I unplugged the AC cable and my laptop turned off.
I downloaded a diagnostic tool called BatteryMon and it says:
(Since I'm unable to post images which is sad - please copy and paste it into your browser adress tab)

So, can anyone please tell me what does it really mean ? I can see that it says it's 120% charged which is overcharging, isn't it ? I'm not really into electrics, so please help me - how am I supposed to get my laptop battery working if it isn't dead ?

Answer:Lenovo G560 battery charges but laptop won't run on it

The battery contacts could be corroded by the spilled water. It takes time for this corrosion to develop so that's why the time that the laptop worked. The water could have affected other internal circuits too over time. The laptop needs to be opened up and inspected

I recently damaged a USB port on the left side of my laptop, the one closest to the front.  I stepped on the cable, putting too much pressure on the connector while it was plugged into the port, and the result was a small black piece of plastic fell out.  The cable plugs in, buts hangs precariously.  I've switched to another port to access my external hard drive, but if I can fix the busted port for little, I'll do so.  Since it was caused by me, the mfg warranty does not cover it.  Lenovo said I would have to replace the motherboard - too costly IMHO.  On this model, is the USB port easily removed and replaced?  I saw a part that had both USB ports mounted side-by-side on a small, separate wafer board, not part of the motherboard.  I don't recall if this was for the G560 or not.  I also saw a USB port with wire and connector for $5.00.  Can I fix this for cheap?  Anyone have a creative idea on how to fix this myself?

Typo on the title, I ment Truemobile 360, NOT 355.

I have an older Dell D400 I'm trying to breath some life back into and I thought I would try out Windows 7.

Well, I got everything working good I think, but the Dell 360 Truemobile bluetooth.

Windows 7 just won't see it. No matter what driver pack I try, it says no bluetooth found. The official Dell Vista pack asks me to turn on the bluetooth but I can't even figure out how to do that, and the light on the laptop is not lit up.

I see dell has this app/patch that it suppose to enable the bluetooth but that also tells me no blue tooth found.

I can't use my bluetooth cellphone as a modem, help please.

That being said, other people have been having the same issue with other laptops, same internal bluetooth and W7 but what worked for them doesn't seem to want to work for me.

On a side note it work's under Windows XP, just not W7.

 Hi Chad76 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

With the connectivity issue , I would suggest to turn off / uncheck power saving from the property box of the device network adapter as shown on this link.
Transmit power to highest if available , Roaming aggressiveness / tendency highest  then restart .
Observe the changes on your connection.

Likewise to limit start up items that may be running from the background that may pick off some of the bandwidth, you may set the pc on clean boot as shown here.

Update us how it goes.

I hope someone can give me some advice. I've a friend with a G550 running Windows 7 32 with only 2 GB of RAM, and it's woefully slow. I suggested he update to 4 GB (his system is obviously only capable of addressing 4 GB) and, as I recently updated my G560 to 8 GB (I'm running 64 bit Windows) I wondered whether I could give him one of my two old 2 GB modules (1 original, one added Crucial), or replace both, to upgrade his system? On paper, the memory seems to be similar to my untutored eye - am I missing some incompatibility between the two systems? Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer:Lenovo G560 laptop graphic driver issue

Hi akashx,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Please try Completely running it on Inbox driver first.
Open Device Manager and Right click uninstall the Intel HD Graphics and a pop up window will appear.
Make sure to place a check on the Delete driver software check box.
     Restart the computer
Perform the steps twice, until the Delete driver software pop up box will show no checkbox anymore.
restart the computer again and install this driver
