Yoga 720-15IKB (FHD) color calibration

Question: Yoga 720-15IKB (FHD) color calibration

I just bought this machine and the display color is rather yucky and washed out. I did play with color calibration in the Windows 10 settings, and was able to match my existing monitor by turning red and green way down and then cranking up the saturation in Intel UHD 630 settings. The problem is, the screen now gives me headache because blue is turned up relative to red and green. So now I'm looking to see if I have the right color profile to begin with. The color profile associated with the monitor was "sRGB display profile with display hardware configuration set to.." Is this the right profile for this laptop? I did search and I couldn't find the color profile for this laptop. Microsoft site says I need to get the monitor driver, not the display/graphics driver, but I don't find that either. Does anybody know where I can find the downloadable color profile for this model?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

As of recently, machine was acting a bit weird. Recently, on starting or waking up from sleep if the sensor is active the colors would change after 15 - 20 seconds - not dimming as I would expect but turning very yellowish... it gets resolved if I go to the color calibration in the windows settings  (funny, not even the whole process, first 'next' button changes it back to normal colors...). Subsequently, sensor will dim the screen if there is less outside light, etc... i.e. acting normally.  However, it is not one time occurance. Doing a proper calibration did not hep either. When I restart, the problem is still there. If I turn the sensor off however, it stops.  Any ideas?

I went and ran the built in color calibration tool in Windows 10 to adjust gamma, brightness, contrast etc but I want to restore this back to what it was before I ran this calibration tool. How do I do that? There does not seem to be an obvious "Restore Default" button anywhere.

Do I simply delete / remove the Profile listed in the box under Start-Settings-Colour Management and maybe untick the box "Use my settings for this device"?

Thanks.

Answer:Windows color calibration tool and resetting calibration

During color calibration you may have made changes to brightness and contrast outside windows using your monitor display menu.

Open your monitor menu from the controls on your monitor and find default or Auto settings there and reset defaults from there.

Then you can delete your profile, and proceed to recalibrate if necessary.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... Question: Color Calibration

My monitor is way too orange/warm. I've color calibrated and have used the color by Pantone calibration. I'm a photographer and it's essential my colors are displaying properly. Any suggestions?

Answer:Color Calibration

Please provide more details... what laptop do you have, and what type of screen (e.g. FHD or 4K or external display)?

I got the built-in color calibrator on my new P70, which comes with the "lite" Pantone color calibration software.  I didn't have this feature in my W530 and thought it sounded like a great idea, which was quite inexpensive.  So I went for it.

Well, I was dissatisfied with the results.  Just didn't look good.

So last month I invested $199 (I now see the price has increased a bit) in an external i1Display Pro product, which I could then also use not only to calibrate my two laptops but also the three external displays I use on my two desktop machines, as well as all the external displays used by friends and family.  Not cheap cheap to buy, but I'll have it forever and can use it on any machine and display.  Of course there are other similar products but this one had very good reviews and was modestly priced.

Most importantly the results of the color calibration on my P70 are much better than that obtained on my P70 using the built-in color sensor and provided Pantone software.  Still doesn't match the results comparing the calibrated 17" IPS P70 screen to my calibrated external 24" Eizo monitors, but that's because the P70 screen just can't really compare to an Eizo screen.

But I run using my external monitors 99.999% of the time and would not have been able to calibrate the Eizo displays unless I... Read more

Hello, I'm a french owner of the VN7 791 model with Windows 8.1 (bought in april). I apologize in advance for my english. As you can see, there is a color calibration by default. I want to install Windows 10 on my laptop in a second partition but I can't save those parameters. If I save a profile, the program erase the color settings, rather than save them. So when I install Windows 10, the colors are pretty strange...  I've contacted french Acer assistant and they told me to upgrade the bios. Now, I'm on the 1.07 version and the latest is the 1.11. But after doing this, if there is an issue, you can't downgrade... So, for the moment, I don't do it. That's why I want to know if someone solve this problem and how. Upgrading the bios can really solve it ? (if someone has already try) Thanks,PL62

How do cancel this mirroring effect or' alternatively' how do I enable calibration?

Answer:Monitor color calibration

Hi cmooreart, The most accurate way to calibrate your monitor is to use a hardware calibrator. I've used the i2 Display 2 with good results. Monitor calibration will ensure that you can see shades of gray both in shadows and the highlights, and that your color temperature is as you set it. There's no one universal color temperature: 6500K is standard for the web, but to match monitor and printed colors, you'll probably need to use a much warmer temperature, maybe 4500K or so. Of course it also depends on the light in which you view your prints! Color perception is a fascinating subject, there's much more in wikipedia and google if you are interested :-) Good luck,Frank

Hi everybody- newbie here, but seems good place to get info on my vista64 problem. Everything seems to work fine on my new Vista64 system, except for my old Blue Eye pro software and calibrator, which, according to LaCie, won't work in 64 bit. I am a photographer working with CS3, and need to be sure my monitor (LaCie 320) accurately displays colors, contrast, black/white points, etc. Some old info indicates that Blue Eye is a re brand of Eyeone, which does 64 bit environment(?). Can I buy different software only, or am I going to have to buy a compleely new calibration system. Or is this really necessary, since Vista does not use old ICC profile system? Haven't played around with Vista color management settings yet, but would appreciate input. Sorry if this is long and rambling.

Answer:Vista64 & color calibration

Long and rambling is good...trust me on that

I gave up trying to calibrate colour settings with the Samsung SyncMaster 206BW LCD monitor. Apparently I will have to deal with LCD intrinsic problems and I can;t seem to turn off teh SAMSUNG dynamic brightness settings it chooses to do.

I was browsing a PC magazine in a shop today that mentioned something about Vista colour calibration tools (or was it charts) being available on the Microsoft website and a utility to download to assist in tweaking colour settings on monitors and calibrating with scanners and photo editing software.

But I also remember reading that they recommend buy Vista compatable colour calibration tools...of which I'm not willing to go there just yet. I'm just a stingy bugga and not a pro photographer.

I would appreciate getting back to this thread should you manage to colour calibrate.

Nvidia and ATI apparently have additional utilities on their respective websites.

Meanwhile...I'm still trying to figure out how to calibrate my Canon mP970 multifunction printer. My scans appear too bright on my monitor

Hey folks. I do a lot of color-related work on my notebook, but am short of actually getting really high end calibration software. Was thinking you might be able to help...

Just got my AW 15 and am matching it against my 2012 M17x. It seems as though the screen is plenty good and can reproduce the colors perfectly, but it's the balance between the colors I can't seem to get right (sky is blue, ground is too yellow. Ground is right, sky is too red, etc.) with the super limited Intel color display adjustments.

Can you recommend any sort of free software that will allow me to set much finer color controls, save profiles, etc.?

Thanks!!!

I have a 5 y.o. Asus laptop, which still works really well. I do a lot of graphics and have just bought a Epson R3000 printer to print my digital paintings. I also have an HP Laser for everyday. My prints from both printers are coming out with a yellowish tinge and after much messing around I think that my laptop screen color is wrong.  I have transferred my present painting onto my new HP notepad and it looks yellow there too. I cannot find the option to change the screen color anywhere. Being a laptop, there is no 'Menu' button obvious, and I can't find any options in the Control Panel. I am running Vista Home Premium. If you have the correct driver and control panel installed for the video chipset, it should have color settings. Again, that depends on the model of the laptop and what video chipset it has, which you didn't provide.

I recently purchased an XPS15 for my photography business. This laptop was highly recommended for photo editing due to the high resolution screen and processing power.  However the screen colors are so over saturated that I am unable to use this laptop for photo editing.
Can someone please advise me how to calibrate the screen colors to commercial print standards.

Answer:XPS15 Color Calibration

You can right click on the desktop and in the menu click the Dell Premiere Color option. This will give you different preset options such as AdobeRGB, Vibrant (Full), sRGB, and many more. The default setting is vibrant which does produce the oversaturated colors you are seeing. Switching to AdobeRGB should provide you with the appropriate colors for photo editing. However note that the display has a more blue white than a natural white.
If the AdobeRGB preset or other presets do not meet your needs you can open up the application completely and change color settings within that application.

Answer:W530 color calibration help

please see my response in your FPR thread.for this issue, you need to install the Pantone package, i believe. as with the FPR package, first, see if TVSU offers it to you. if not, you can download it directly here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS015010then just run the executable. you may then need to switch to the subdir to which the files were unpacked and look for a setup.exe to run, if it doesn't do so automatically.you may also need the Monitor Inf package here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS015012hth.

Viewsonic led monitor on an nVidea 750Ti card with Win 10

Try as I might I can not get a decent desktop color adjustment that also work well with my photo software. The images below show this. The differences here don't seem that big but the screen capture is responsible for that. In real life the lighter one is clearly too contrasty and the Lightroom image and indeed the program itself is clearly too dark.
.
I have used Color Munki Smile to calibrate the monitor which is fine for Lightroom but hopeless for the desktop. I have fiddled with the nVidea control panel settings too.

Lightroom and Photoshop need to show accurate gamma and color for my work of course but then the desktop apps like Explorer and browsers look awful. The software is always set to ProPhoto RGB and in the past was no problem. Something has changed and I don't know what.

There doesn't appear to be a ProPhoto RGB profile available in my Win 10 Color Management settings, is this the problem? Where can I find it?

Having been disappointed in the results of using the built-in color sensor in my P70 (with FHD screen) along with the provided "lean" Pantone calibration software, I decided to invest in an external X-Rite i1Display Pro colorimeter which comes with full retail iProfiling software. This would allow me to measure not only the laptop screen but also my other monitors. So it seemed a reasonable investment.

So a few weeks ago I did my first calibration (not knowing too much about how this should really be done, in terms of touching any of the available adjustable calibration target parameters).  I made two measurements: one for the P70 laptop screen, and a second for my external Eizo S2433W monitor.  I thought the results were very good, and for the P70 screen itself I felt the results were certainly superior to that achieved using the built-in sensor and "lite" software.

A few weeks have now gone by, so I decided I was probably due for a new set of calibrations.  This time I decided to try setting the "luminance" (i.e. brightness) target values for the calibration to be different than I'd done originally.  Instead of just leaving the 250 target values which were the default presented by the software, this time I decided to try setting those target values to corresond to what the colorimeter measured when I set the screen brightness to be what I wanted to run with in everyday use.  For my Eizo monitor with brightness at 100% that corresponded... I would make sure your BIOS and video card drivers are fully up to date, as these both play a pivotal role in your operating system being able to detect changes. The latest BIOS can be found here and the latest graphics card driver can be found here.

I've been having this issue for about a month now and have searched everywhere for a solution with no luck. I have found plenty of forums and people experiencing similar issues with laptops or different video cards, but I haven't found a single answer as to how to actually fix this.

I got a new monitor recently - a Viewsonic VA2333-LED. I found that I didn't like the color settings and was not able to get the right color/gamma/brightness and contrast settings by using the monitor's menu. I have an Nvidia card, so next thing I did was to edit the color settings through the Nvidia control panel to just how I like them, I selected "Use NVIDIA settings", hit apply and saved the new settings. Looked great until I had to reboot my computer or it went into stand by at which point mysteriously the "Use NVIDIA settings" would become unchecked and my color was back to being an overexposed, bright white mess.

Next I tried the WIndows Color calibration. I went through the process saved the new color profile and set it as the default. Then, lo and behold, after my computer went to stand by, the color was right back to being crap. I even went so far as to delete the default profiles completely, leaving only my adjusted profile set as default. But again, when the monitor goes to stand by, the color settings that I created are lost. Here's the strangest part, when I enter the WIndows 7 color management screen, it still shows my profile as sele... Read more

Every month I re-calibrate my display using the COLOR by PANTONE Color Calibrator (v1.1.0).

I tried doing it today and kept getting this error, even though the tone for successful calibration always goes off:

Link to picture

I'll try to calibrate the screen once, but it will fail.  When I try a second time, it will also fail, and give me the error seen above.  If I try a third time, I finally get the three failure tones and the software simply closes itself.

Is this a hardware issue?  A driver issue?  Are there any solutions for this?

Recently updated my computer.  Windows 7 64-bit.

Answer:W530 Color Calibration Issue

Hi, crmichae

This could be a software or driver issue. What machine type and model do you have? Also, how long have you had this machine and been able to recailbrate without issue?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi,

I recently got windows 7 for my desktop, and I have this 22'' monitor which looks really nice when properly calibrated (gamma, reds, etc). My problem is that every time I do a calibration, and let the computer either go to sleep, lock, turn off, the calibration resets to this ugly looking thing. What's worse, every time the monitor is turn on and off the same problem. IF the UAC prompts me to allow or something same problem.

How do I prevent my computer from switching my calibration to something else?

I have on-board integrated graphics, so I don't have a NVIDIA/ATI control center thing. For my calibration I use the windows 7 calibrator ("Calibrate Display Color").

This is really a problem for me, and I will appreciate any assistance! Thanks!!

Hi,

I received my new laptop yesterday (7559) and I love it, but I have an issue with color. It's more about green that look too dark.
For example, this green from the Xbox icon :

What's the best setting for contrast, saturation, gamma, etc. that I can edit in the Intel Control panel?

If the system has been on battery at any point of the session, color calibration seems to mess itself up according to what's on screen. If darker colors dominate the screen, the colors slowly (but visibly) go all weird. When there's mostly white content on screen, it returns to normal.I've been browsing some power management settings and none of them seems to relate to this. The system is W520 with FHD screen, Intel 8.15.10.2538 drivers, Nvidia 332.21 drivers, Windows 7.This does not occur in Ubuntu, nor on an external monitor.

I recently got a w520, it seems to work properly. However i am having some trouble with the color profile in windows on the laptop. In the advanced display settings I keep trying to set a custom ICC profile but ever time the computer goes into power savings or shuts the monitor off the ICC profile gets reset to the default one. I have scoured these forums as well as various sources around the net for a solution with no avail. Can someone point me in the right direction please and thanks in advance.

Answer:w520 - color calibration issue

Here's the fix: Click the Windows start button and type "msconfig" in the search bar; press enter. In the window that pops up, click the "Startup" tab at the top. In the list of items below, you should see three entries for "Intel(R) Common User Interface". To the right of those is a column called Command. One of the entries for Intel Common User Interface will have the command "c:\windows\system32\igfxpers.exe". Un-check the box next to that entry, click Apply at the bottom, and then reboot your computer. Your display profile that you set should stay loaded now. Josh

I am having a problem with the built in Windows 7 color calibration.

I follow the wizard for achieving the correct calibration and I am very happy with the final results. However when I restart the computer it looses the calibration settings, so it has to be re-done.

Any idea why Windows 7 color calibration fails to retain these settings?

It looks like its saving but when normally doing so it only takes a couple of secs. Now it goes on forever. If I try to press any buttons the software crashes. Had this problem a year ago and searched all over for an answer. Couldn't find one. Tried to run the program after a couple of months and it worked fine again ? Its driving me crazy...

Before anyone tries, the "solution" at -

http://www.pusztaiphoto.com/articles/colormgmt/win7/default.aspx

- has been tried, and doesn't work.

On a Windows 7 notebook, color calibration fails. Any attempt to set color calibration disappears when the machine hits sleep mode or the screen goes blank from the screen saver timer.

A color calibration profile using a Pantone Huey has been created, but any attempt to set this as the system's default color profile through Windows 7 Color Management fails.

Updating display drivers makes no difference. Uninstalling and reinstalling the display drivers makes no difference.

The notebook uses a Mobile Intel 965 chipset.

I recently received a palmrest for my T530 which has the color calibration sensor installed. I am wondering if it will work on my T530? It looks like I can get the software from the W530 files matrix. My main concern is I don't want to replace the palmrest with the sensor if it is not going to work, but if it will work I figure I may as well use it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi,
I bought the UP2716D Monitor a couple months ago, for professional graphics work and have for the life of me not been able to calibrate the monitor.
Thumbnails in windows (10)  look colorful, but as soon as I open them in Photoshop, or even windows image viewer the colors, saturation and temp all change. It makes consistent work impossible as I'm never sure what my clients are seeing, or if my feedback is accurate.  And working between multiple programs is a nightmare.
The monitor has so far been a very expensive paperweight.  I've tried calibrating with driver updates, in Photoshop and in the windows color manager with out any success.  I'm very disappointed with this as I expected the calibration tools would be included.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I use the color calibration manager in windows, and its fine. But whenever i restart, the colors turn bright and ignores the previous settings. What is the problem here? Bright as meaning yellows turn annoyingly thin, and u could barely distinguish white. Example I can't even see the lined boxes of the outline of this text box with the restarted settings. Frustrating.

Hi! I have had a W700ds for 2 years now and HueyPro color calibration always worked like a dream. When I did the usual two-weekly calibration a few days ago, the result was way too green. I tried it again, installed the latest version of HueyPro, reset HueyPro, etc., but the same greenish color remains. Is it that my color sensor has given up the ghost? Anyone had the same problem and what was the solution? Thanks in advance.

Answer:HueyPro color calibration too green on W700ds

Roemrijkewolf, the sensor may have gone bad, which happens in some cases. On my W700, the screen has a visibly greenish cast if I switch off the calibrated results within the huey PRO software. Call tech support.I recommend that you read this before having your ThinkPad serviced. If you're familiar with doing electronic repairs yourself and want Lenovo to just send you the part, it's a fairly straightforward repair, and the procedure is in the W700ds "Hardware Maintenance Manual." They'll probably send you a new palmrest. Also, by now, many of the little air intake slots (each about 5mm, or just under 1/4" long) on the underside of your laptop are probably clogged with dust. You can see this with a flashlight and magnifying glass, particularly if you look at the patch of slots in the rear corners of the underside of the machine (that's where the two fans are). I recommend that you turn the laptop off, disconnect it from everything, close the lid, flip it over onto a cushioned surface, attach a crevice tool to your vacuum cleaner, and use that to suck the dust OUT OF ONLY those little vent slots on the bottom surface of the laptop. That helps keep the laptop's cooling system running at maximum efficiency. NEVER use compressed air to blow the dust INTO the laptop, because you don't want all that dust on the inside where it can cause problems.Good luck!

I have calibrated the display of my Thinkpad W520 using the interal calibrator and the preinstalled Pantone software. After the calibration the display looks much better. If I reboot, the correct calibration profile is loaded. As I understand, it might be an issue with your Display driver, I suggest you to update your Display driver from the below mentioned web link.

Please choose category as Display and the Operating System which you are using in your system.

Hi! Just got my new P40. Seems great and is much better than the MS Surface Book for accurate and delicate artwork. Seems like the best drawing tool I've had, but there are a couple of issues. The color calibration as received is terrible. And I cannot adjust the gamma or the contrast it seems. Maybe it's dependent on which video card is running? I tried the Windows 10 calibration but I cannot change the contrast on the screen!  Even adjusting the gamma using the pattern DOES NOT change the calibration image any. Perhaps I'm missing something? Perhaps someone could help? Unless I can calibrate the colors I'll have to return it -which I really don't want to do!

I didn't see a similar thread on this so I'm starting a new one on color calibration setting for built-in laptop screen. (this can be found in your CCC Advanced Settings menu, under "My Built-In Displays, Display Color"). My interest in this stems from having and seeing correct colors for digital photography on my laptop when using photoshop.  What Catalyst Control Center (CCC) setting do you use for your Y560 laptop monitor calibration?  I had bought a pro-level APS LED monitor and used a recommended color-corrected profile for that model downloaded from a website. Then I adjusted the Y560 laptop monitor's colors by comparing it to the stand-alone monitor's display results. The settings I got that matched the APS monitor's colors are as follows: Hue: 4Saturation: 110Brightness: 0Contrast: 100Color Temperature: 6800K I have a Y560d laptop, intel i720, windows 7 64-bit, with ATI5730 video card. I have the latest bios, and latest ATI drivers as per this forum. My setting in the one-key theater is "Normal" to do away with auto-adjustment issues.

I should have left well enough alone. I installed and ran the Pantone Color Calibrator and it made my 4K display awful. What used to be white is now a digusting yellowish green hideous tint. How can I change the display back to what it was? Strange that the program lets you change between "Before" and "After" once it has made the changes but does not offer an option for you to keep the "Before" settings. For anyone else out there, use the Pantone Color Calibrator at your own risk as it made my display look horrible. Just hope there is a way to restore what the display used to look like.

Hi, Major Geeks

I have searched extensively for an answer to this problem, and found several, yet none of them seem to work, so I realized it's time to come here and get some real help.

The problem is, every time I start a game, my color recalibrates itself, raising the gamma too high and I have to manually go in and reset it, again, and again.

I am using Windows 7 Premium.
My video card is a PowerColor AX5770-1GBD5-H Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5(V3)

The game I am running is Lord of the Rings Online aka LOTRO, at very high resolution.

I hope you can help me, this is driving me nuts!

Thanks, Garrett

Answer:Help with color calibration resetting. Acer S232HL 23' monitor.

Since it's a TN panel colour calibration is virtually futile, the minute your gaze shifts so too will the contrast, therefore your perception from one minute to the next will vary.

Visit TFT Centrals website and see if they have a custom made colour profile for your monitor, or otherwise use manual calibration with a device like a spider.

Hi there, I recently got a T410s. I've made the switch back to Thinkpads bc 1) I travel a lot, and 2) needed something more rugged than the Macbook Pro I had. I have the 2901CTO (W7 Pro 64-bit) model with Intel video. Because I do a bit of photography, I need to calibrate my screen for when I'm on the road. Has anyone else noticed how terribly green the native settings are? It's like night and day next to even the most basic laptops we have around the office and the home. Even the black point is horrible. Is it just my display that's doing this? I've been having a really hard time doing the color calibration to bring it up to acceptable levels. The native Windows7 is terrible and so is the Intel Color Enhancement software. Any help? Thanks!!

I've just got a new laptop with Windows 8, and noticed that all dark images have chunks of pixels around them - they aren't smooth at all. Most of the icons on the start screen also have bands of colours, instead of smooth gradients.

I tried to change my display settings in Color Calibration to try and fix this, but as soon as I change anything my display reverts back. Changing gamma won't work, and when I mess with the hues the screen snaps back to being grey, though it should have a tint.

I've turned off the adaptive brightness (as far as I can tell), and I can't find anything in Catalyst Control Centre that looks like it would be doing this - I assume I'm overlooking some preinstalled software or something like that?

I have a Lenovo laptop with AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics and Windows 8.1 installed. Not sure where the problem is here, so I didn't quite know what forum it belongs in.

Thanks!

So, I only made an account here to ask this question, because I have looked everywhere and there is no solution to this problem that I have seen.

My computer just updated itself today (If it matters, I have an asus laptop and it's windows 10) and color calibration restarted itself. Thought nothing of it and changed the screen tint to what I like.

But now the screen tint keeps flickering back and forth from that to what it originally was. I have no idea how to stop it. I think it also only flickers whenever I actually move my mouse around or click on things, and it seems to just stick with the tint/color I want it to be if I have a program open and showing.

No idea how to fix this. Any solutions?

Also: I did restart my laptop to see if it would fix it but it didn't.

Answer:After updating my computer, color calibration / screen tint problems

How did you "change the screen tint?" Through Windows 10 color calibration or by adjusting a setting on your monitor?

You can check your Windows 10 color profile by going into Control Panel with View by Large/Small Icons and selecting Color Management.

Question: Yoga 720-15ikb

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

Last week I have received my (first) new Lenovo W520 Thinkpad, which I decided to buy after lots of research on the internet. I am excited about its computing power and feature richness. Its biggest flaw though is the 1920x1080 LED TFT FHD display, which offers the worst color calibration I have seen in a high-end laptop in the last 10 years. Its color rendering is highly disappointing as it shows unnatural, oversaturated colors that make the monitor useless for professional photo and video editing purposes. Primary tones glare neon-like in a highly disturbing manner. A red stop sign appears pink and flags in the google image search are displayed in a ridiculous way.I have tried the following approaches to improve the color rendering. The built-in color sensor in conjunction with the Pantone calibration software lead to the worst outcome. The white background of Windows Explorer becomes yellowish-greenish.A better outcome canbe achieved using Windows 7 color management for display calibration, which doesn't avoid the neon colors, but at least white is rendered white.Using the Nvidia graphic card tools and setting back gamma to 0.76 also helps to a very little degree.Another solution is a free gamma correction tool called QuickMonitorProfile. This brings back the reds to normal tones with the side effect, that all mid-tones are rendered very pale.I didn't have a possibility to try high-class external calibration hardware. For me the only solution remains to use a decent external... Read more

Answer:W520 FHD LED TFT 95% Gamut Display and Color Sensor with Pantone Calibration - Review

A wide-gamut monitor will not display images built for a normal-gamut monitor very well; it will result in oversaturated colors both in theory and in practice. You can try a browser that properly supports color profiles such as Firefox or IE9. Otherwise, the colors will indeed look very off.

Does the W700 Tablet work in Ubuntu or in any flavor of Linux? Does the color calibration or finger print reader? How does one get them working? Anyone know? Is this a Wacom or something else -  USB or serial? I have seen linux venders offering the W700 with a fully working tablet so there must be a way to get this going.I also get the sense that the color calibrator is a HueyPro, is that true?

Answer:HELP: W700 color calibration or finger print reader and tablet in Ubuntu?

Hi, i bought this laptop with Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago and it ran smoothly for the first few days then it started to give me the blue error page. I did the recovery twice and the updates but the problem is still there. Fan is very noisy and the double finger tapping as right click doesn't work either. Any help? Thanks.

Windows 7 pro 64-bit on recent W510 purchase.Dell external LCD display native 1680x1050 works fine connected to laptop via newest Port Replicator and DVI cable from PR to LCD.  HOWEVER while I am able to do color calibration with hardware/software the profile is not very good for the grayscale response.  It is so poor that the customer rep for the hardware/software calibration package thinks I might have a poor copy of the Dell LCD display.  My hunch is that it is perhaps more of an issue of how the external display is being connected (via port replicator) to the W510. It seems that with my simple setup the connection to the port replicator DVI versus connecting display to laptop via a single link Display Port --- DVI connector should be "the same" I am wondering.  I don't have a DP --- DVI connector and would need to buy one; is this worth a try? With the current connection via the Port Replicator the external monitor is shown simply as a USB Monitor (and isnot shown by name Dell 2209wa).  Am I correct that if the Dell were connected via the DP port on the W510 that it would show up properly named in control panel where you adjust resolution and choose whether to clone or extend displays?  If someone can confirm that the DP --- DVI route shows things properly named, then I am willing to speculate that the color calibration system might be able to better communicate with the video card etc  by avoiding the port replicator. Giv... I have the Lenovo Z50 Laptop and do not like the bleached out look so have adjusted the display by using Color Calibration.  However, every time I restart the laptop, these new settings do load, but then something else kicks in, resetting the display to original bleached out appearance. How can I permanently calibrate my color? Another issue I have is that the laptop prompted me to use battery conservation mode, so I applied this using Energy Manager but, again, this gets reset every time I restart the computer and is, therefore, disabled. Why does the Lenovo laptop override my settings, its really annoying.

Answer:Lenovo Z50 - Color Calibration and also Battery Conservation Mode settings resetting on startup

I started having a problem with my screen when I tried to install a program called Monosnap. At first my computer screen was completely white and I had a hard time seeing anything. I uninstalled the program and it got a little better. Virus scans said I didn't catch anything. I reset to my previous Windows back up point and it got a little better. It still had like a white film over the screen with like a halo of pure color around the edges. Then I reinstalled the display driver and that fixed the problem with the permanent white film over everything, except now it randomly flickers completely white, with verticle lines. I've included a picture.

My camera is not working, and I would provide a screenshot of the error, but it doesn't always show it, and it crashes immediately and consistently without fail. Devmgmt.msc shows EasyCamera is working properly, and I even updated the driver AND restarted. Other camera apps crash upon trying to open the camera. What do?

I went to the drivers and they said they were up to date and working properly and it shows that the ethernet is there it just won't connect to it.

Lenovo support, thank you for bios solution for windows it's really helpful, but you forgot one thing. That thing is Linux users!! Instalation Linux for that laptop is like a developers quiz, you should become UNIX developer to start FREE Ubuntu on that device. After installation new issues - drivers. What`s going on, Lenovo? I can't use my fingerprint on it, cause no drivers!!!! And the most painfull for me: NOIZE from laptop, it`s like a reactive rocket, on battery it work just 2-3 hours(at the same time linux use less CPU and RAM). Hopeful you'll provide any solution for us (Linux users).  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByHLDA4zXQ5eQXZEQVdfUWEwbDQBest regards,Bogdan

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?
