Solved - ideapad FLEX 4 keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Question: Solved - ideapad FLEX 4 keyboard and touchpad stopped working

The issue has already solved, just writing for thos who might have the same issue. One day when I turned the notebook on, the keyboard and touchpad did not work. Restarting ddi not help. The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working. Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HELP. My keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Laptop is brand new. I checked Control Panel > Device Manager and system says both of them are working fine. Drivers are also updated.I`m typing with an external keyboard and mouse. Touchscreen and touch-keyboard work both fine. Is there anything I can check in the OS to verify what is going on? Maybe I turned off something. It's a mistery, laptop is brand new. Thanks in advance!!

I'm running a Flex-3 with Windows 10.  Have not made any recent updates or changes to the system, but integrated keyboard and touchpad have stopped responding.  USB keyboard and bluetooth mouse work normally. I'm simply trying to confirm if it is a hardware (motherboard) issue since that seems to be the most likely, but Troubleshooting and the Lenovo Solution Center scans indicate no issues.  I updated keyboard driver to no effect. One strange result, if I disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices and reboot, the Touchpad will again respond.  Keyboard will not.  As soon as I activate Bluetooth mouse, touchpad stops working. Thank you in advance.

The touchscreen on my Flex 15 stopped working. I am not sure exactly when, but in the last few months.  I am already on Win10, and it has worked fine since the Win10 upgrade over a year ago.  In Device Manager, I can see the HID Touch Screen entry.  I tried uninstalling and deleting it, followed by a restart.  Reinstalled itself on start-up, but no joy.  It claims to be working.   I have seen other similar posts saying to delete entries under Mice... but I don't see any Touch Screen entries there.Interestingly, I see most of the drivers have Event dates of 2-Jul 2017, saying "Device migrated". I am suspecting some delightful Micorsoft "improvement" on that date may have been the cuplrit, but I also feel like the touch screen may have been working after that date.  Unfortunately, I don't use the touch screen very often, but I DO need it now and then. Thoughts?

I'm setting up a new system and have installed Windows 8.1 and the ProPack for Windows  8.1 Professional.  There is now two devices in Device Manager that aren't starting.    The Auto-Rotate feature of this tablet/laptop is no longer working either. I've read through enough of this forum to find an answer and can't locate one.  Someone mentioned uninstalling a device driver and  that worked.. Which one? I have Other Device/Unknown device and IWD Bus Enumerator not starting in Device Manager.. Any real support techs out here that can help with this problem?   ThanksBryan

Answer:Auto-rotate stopped working. Ideapad Flex 15

Check http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? for driver updates. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Also check if you haven't accidentally pressed the rotation lock button on the side.

Hi there, I'm hoping that I can get some help - in very simple terms.  I am a little confused and intimidated by all things "computer".  I just received the IdeaPad flex 15 with windows 8 for Christmas.  I was slowly getting things set up when my cursor froze... for like 20 minutes, I couldn't be patient any longer so I tapped it with my finger, hoping to get it to reset. It did not, it disappeared and somehow disabled my touch pad.  I have tried the FN keys like suggested in other posts and google searches, I have restarted the computer countless times... When I look under the control panel - mouse - hardware - nothing is listed??  I don't want to do anything else to ruin my new computer but I want to get this fixed so I can have a fully functioning laptop, not just a touch screen. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.Much appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad flex 15 w/windows 8 - touch pad stopped working

Continue to let the automatic updates download, install and then reboot.  It takes a LONG time. I had an issue with the touchpad but it worked after a few more updates.

I have the Elan Smart-Pad, and even after going onto the settings for this and changing Palm Tracking to minimum, the problem still persists. Is there a way I can change this?

Hi! I was using normally my Ideapad 310 15ISK.One day, when I woke, the gestures of my Ideapad 310 stopped working. Everything from scrolling to showing cortana, notifications center, desktop stopped. I went to Lenovo's website, choose the model of my computer, downloaded the updated Synaptics driver and rebooted. The scrolling, cortana and notifications are back on, but the gestures stopped working. The gesture with three fingers, all of them except Cortana, stopped. There isn't a newer driver in Lenovo's site. How to proceed? Here's a printscreen of the settings of the Synaptics (it's in Potuguese, but you can compare with your Synaptics control panel):?  Thanks!

Hi, I got a new Lenovo Ideapad S510p laptop about a month ago. When I went to bed last night, I just flipped down the screen so it went into sleep mode instead. When I started the computer this morning, the touchpad only worked for 2 seconds. I tried pressing the button that would enable/disable the touchpad, but nothing happened. I plugged in an "external" mouse, and that worked fine. I tried uninstalling the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and then download the one from the Lenove website, but that changed nothing. When I plug out my mouse, the mouse pointer dissapears from the screen. There's absolutely NO Synaptics process running on the computer, and if I go into "Device Manager", I can only see my external mouse. If I plug out the mouse, nothing is showing up.  I really need help. I don't want to be dragging a mouse around all the time.  Thanks in advance,  Oh, and it's might worth mentioning that I run Windows 8.1.

I've tried everything! In the bios setup (f2) the keyboard works! I tested the keyboard and touchpad using the rescue and recovery CD and functioned! Is not a physical problem because I put a HD from another T61 and both peripherals are working again! So I think the problem is in the operating system Vista 32bits. Has anyone experienced this? thank you

Answer:The keyboard and the TouchPad stopped working!

Hi, Rabbitvix

I haven't experienced this issue, but the fact that the keyboard works in BIOS but not in the OS indicates a software issue, not hardware. I would recommend booting the machine in Safe Mode to see if this helps. If the TouchPad and the keyboard resume functioning in Safe Mode, then we may be able to solve this issue by removing a driver.

To boot into Safe Mode in Windows Vista:

Start the computer from cold boot.
When the splash screen appears (says "Lenovo) being tapping F8 repeatedly.
Continue tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Select Safe Mode.
Hit Enter.
The computer should now boot to Safe Mode.

Also, one final question: If you plug in an external mouse, does this function well, or does it experience problems as well?

Best of luck,
Adam

Hi! I have an Ideapad Z560. All of a sudden both keyboard and Synaptic touchpad stopped working. I restored the laptop to the original image and updated all drivers from Lenovo first and from Synaptic later; then I replaced the keyboard with a spare I had, then I opened the laptop and reattached all cables to make sure there are no loose cables.Nothing worked. What's interesting is that both the touchpad and keyboard report themselves as attached to PS/2 port.Is it normal? What else can I do? What else can cause the issue?I'd like to replace the touchpad but I cannot find the part anywhere. Is it available from Lenovo? Are there any generic ones? Hello, This was originally a thread about a different problem, but now that's fixed, and I'm having this problem. My laptop's keyboard and touchpad are not registering anything I do. Luckily I can plug in a USB mouse and keyboard for the time being, but I would very much like to get this fixed. I tried taking out the battery and AC adapter, and holding down the power button for 30 seconds, and that didn't seem to help. I also checked to see if the drivers were up to date, and they are. If anyone knows anything I can do, please elet me know.  Thank you

Hi

My netbook is a Samsung n145plus and has 8.1 installed with all updates. (even if it's not officially supported but it works amazingly fine)

I've installed the officia Samsung Elan touchpad driver as it seemed to work fine (it's for Win 7) except when scrolling with the edge of the pad because a Elan window appears on the taskbar and was annoying so I installed a newer driver but for a gateway laptop it installed fine but it wasn't detected by Elan in control panel so I removed it.

Now both the keyboard and touchpad stopped working and Windows says code 19 for keyboard and code 10 for touchpad. A USB mouse works fine. I've reinstalled both with Device Manager without success. Now the netbook is almost useless
Thanks

Answer:Netbook keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Reinstalled twice the Elan driver and now both it and keyboard work I don't know what does the KB have to do with the touchpad...
Now I will try to fix the aforementioned bug when edge scrolling

I have a just over one year old (~14 months) Dell Inspiron 17 laptop with Win 8.1 (no touch) and of course it's out of warranty. The mouse simply stopped working, no cursor. I was able to use the touchpad but then that quit too in quick order.
I spent hours searching here and the interweb looking for possible fixes, so far no luck.
The worst of the issue is now I can't get past the splash screen to the login screen to access the repair/restore functions in Windows.
How do I access these when I can't even login to the computer?

Answer:Mouse stopped working, then touchpad, then keyboard

I called Dell and they want almost $300 to send it back so they can 'look at it'!
Any thoughts or suggestions to solve this issue?

i have read about similar problems on here but none of the solutions worked for me. the keyboard seems to work just fine until the "starting windows" screen appears then absolutely nothing. i've tried reinstalling the alps pointing device drivers, i uninstalled then installed the newer version, nothing seems to work. the computer was working just fine until i came home from work and turned it on. this same problem happend about 2 months ago and it magically fixed it self, i just never turned the computer off again. i have 2 identical sony vaio VPC-EB33FM/BJ models, and have compared all the drivers and settings, they are the exact same (except the newer version of Alps on the broken one). i ran one of those "scan for new drivers" programs that ask for money to update drivers that it says are old and it said that the HID keyboard device driver is way out of date along with several others, but once again they are the same as the ones on the computer i am using now and this one works like a champ. anyone have any ideas? would be truely grateful for all input, thank you.

Sounds like hardware problem.
Try to set the notebook back to factory settings. I guess you would need to use an external USB keyboard in case the internal keyboard does not work.

Here an instruction how to perform a System Recovery?

Hello everybody

I have a serious problem in my Satellite A300-243. I installed using a CD a driver for external keyboard and after I restarted both keyboard and touchbpad stopped working and taking any order when I reach the vista welcome page.
What should I do because you know even I cant enter the windows to uninstall that driver.

Any way to do it while windows starting up?

Answer:Satellite A300-243 - Keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Hello

Why you installed a driver for external keyboard? I never heard about such drivers?

Anyway, you should try to boot in safe mode and then you are able to remove external keyboard driver from software list. After restarting in normal mode, the touchpad and keyboard should work properly again.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong area.
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so.
Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working.
The touchpad will not turn off.

Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.

How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?

Thank you!

Hi,
My neighbours computer is an Acer Aspire 6920G that is 9 months old, it has just come back from the store she brought it at and still has the same issue.
It runs Vista Home Premium, which I am not familiar with.
The machine boots fine, but does not recognise the keyboard, touchpad, and now has no sound drivers or options.
The machine was not sold with a Vista disc, just a generic recovery disc that does not allow me to use the SFC /scannow or repair console.
I am familiar with XP to intermediate, but never used Vista before.

I have had this notebook for a few years and it has performed well. Today however I brought it out of hibernation mode, and it beeped. The keyboard and touchpad were not working. I restarted the computer and it beeped as it was loading, giving a message that said "Keyboard not detected." Once windows booted up, same problem. I shut down and restarted, same problem. I then unplugged everything, took the battery out, put it back together, and now it works fine. I'm a little concerned about this. Is this an indication of a possible hardware failure, or could something else more innocuous be causing it? Thanks in advance!

*************** SOLVED *************Hi there !   I really need your help this is very concerning. My PC is an Ideapad 100S-14IBR. While I was typing some text in college, my hardware (touchpad and keyboard) stopped responding and the text editor kept on writing the last key I pressed, as if kept it pressed. I was playing a video game on my laptop around 4:30, when the keyboard suddenly stopped working. The mouse still functioned, so I tried clicking around to see if it was just a problem with the game. Then at 4:32, the mouse stopped working, too. I decided to try turning it off, but neither holding nor pressing the power button worked, so I unplugged the laptop from the charger and left it to run out of power on it's own. At 4:35, the display froze. I know this, because up until then the clock was still working. Currently, the vent fan is still running, and the screen is frozen. No keyboard buttons work, and neither the built-in trackpad nor an HDMI mouse is working.  Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I need to send it in?The laptop was a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series, with Nvidia GeForce GTX and an Intel Core i7.

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Keyboard back light - stopped working after Windows 10 upgrade

Update: I purchased a genuine second hand keyboard online fo £22.00 and the backlight is working perfectly. A good way to test the functionaility of your keyboard is to see if the light comes on during the boot-up. If it does not then it is either a loose connection or a faulty keyboard. It is worth opening up the keyboarg to see if there is a loose connection...see this video on how to do it, it very simple and will take you less than 5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lK4mKT_7gA If the connection are ok and you still do not see the back light working during the boot up, then I am afraid to say that you have a faulty keyboard. Don't waste you time like I did trying to get it to work...get a replacement!

Without any particular event (Windows 10, Ideapad Flex 14), these things happend

touchpad cursor control stopped working, but cursor works fine with USB mouse
Synaptics control 'Accessories' work fine : Presssure Graph and Mood Pad
graphical volume control appeared in upper right
volume is constantly driven to zero ... cannot get sound without constantly clicking on volume level, or hitting Volume up key (F3)
Volume down (F2) and Sound toggle (F1) now do nothing

I can hold down Volume up (F3) and get volume to work, but it must be held down continuously to hear anything played on the speakers.

it looks like some event from either Volume down or Sound toggle is running continuously, and those events prevent the touchpad cursor control from working.

The laptop is barely functional in this condition .. must have USB mouse connected, and playback of any sound

I have sprayed clean dry air around the keys .. it seems unlikely that any debris is stuck in the key, but it almost seems like one of the two keys (volume down or less likely sound toggle) is being continuously pressed.

I would be quite happy to have the key disabled through software .. I havae never used it.

Any help would be so generous from the community, and so gratefully appreciated!

I experience the exact same problem with this laptop (recently installed Windows 10, but the problem was also apparent with Windows 8). Only, the volume is constantly driven to 100 instead of zero. Reinstalling drivers or completely reinstalling windows does not solve the problem.

Hey guys I've searched the internet but I can't figure out my problems. My problems are:The volume keeps adjusting itself back to 100%. I can't mute it or lower it at all. It keeps adjusting to 100% no matter what I do. I thought my volume key was jammed but it's not. I have no idea what's causing this.My windows key is very unresponsive. I have to press it multiple times before I can start searching for something. No idea what the cause of this is either.Last but not least, I can't switch between windows by alt-tabbing. It just doesn't work. When I hover a window that I want to switch to it appears and disappear within a second.I've already ran multiple malware removal softwares such as malwarebytes, rougekiller, and such. I also did a fresh install of windows 8 to see if it would fix the problem but it didn't. Please help ): I need to use this laptop for school and I honestly don't know how to fix it. Thank you.

Does anybody know is Lenovo Plan to bring out an updated keyboard for the Lenovo Flex 15D or Flex Series Ultrabooks? I have had mine now for 2 Weeks and am extremely hapy with its well built construction and its performance however it is missing a crucial peice of technology. A Backlit Keyboard. As Good as the keyboard is and my eyesight for that matter. This machine would seriously benifit from a Back Lit Keyboard. If anyone has any surgestions then please let me know.

Answer:Lenovo flex 2 -14 keyboard and touchpad giving irregular response

Hello, looks like i found the solution! I recently came across another post in this forum, where the user had reported his g5050 showing similar symptoms like mine. A lenovo admin had suggested that it might be due to excess charge stored on the laptop, causing the whole f the keyboard and the touchpad to act like its loosely connected. Solution:As soon as i find my laptop fully charged, immediatley i took off the power plug going into the laptop! And now, its all working fine!

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR220-E laptop running Windows 7 (32 bit) operating system. I had some problems so I did a system restore. It appeared to work but I lost all keyboard function. The mouse pad and clicker works but no numbers or letters. The device manager shows the keyboard as working fine.

I went back to undo the restore, everything appears fine, I have my keyboard back but I can't get any internet connection. The trouble shooter says "windows cannot automatically detect proxy settings". I can't find how to correct this.
Suggestions?

I had multiple customers calling me this week when suddenly their keyboard stopped working.Everything was working fine, they rebooted their computer, and after the reboot their keyboard would no longer work. Even if they tried different USB ports or different keyboards, still no luck. After chasing my tail for a couple days, I was finally able to figure out the root cause of the problem.A couple of years ago I had installed Hitman Pro Alert as a measure of protection against Cryptolocker. For some reason, after two years, it is now preventing users from being able to use their keyboards. All you need to do is uninstall the software and everything will be back to normal. For those who have remote access, you can login remotely and uninstall it.For those with only local access, you can login to safe mode and do it.Hopefully this helps someone!

Answer:Keyboard Stopped Working - SOLVED

I had the same thing happen over the last few days. It is actually caused by a pop up prompting the user to upgrade hitman. If they do the upgrade the keyboard quits working at the next reboot. When I figured out the issue I started searching for other related or similar posts anywhere on the internet and could not find any. So I purposely upgraded my hitmanpro.alert and sure enough the keyboard stopped working after I rebooted. There are a few posts in various places now.

I recently purchased this laptop and did not spend any time playing on the keyboard prior to the purchase.  I am now regretting this purchase as I cannot understand nor adapt to the right shift key not being in the standard location. Why would Lenovo design a keyboard that would not be conducive to touch typing? I cannot seem to change my 45 years of touch typing experience to accomadate this major change.  It makes no sense.  Is anyone else having this issue and what if anything can be done about it?

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... Have a friend with a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. Yesterday in the middle of typing an e-mail, the keyboard went totally dead; not a single key does anything in any program (e-mail, Word, Excel, etc). If you plug in an auxiliary keyboard using the keyboard port, that keyboard works AND if you turn the caps lock on on that keyboard, the light on the laptop indicates it's on.

We tried turning the computer off for at least 2 minutes and then back on, but that did nothing. What would cause the keyboard to suddenly become inoperable? Did she inadvertently hit some key or key combination that disables the keyboard?

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

Hi itsasin,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number or MTM to verify the model (you can also get from here)?

Isolating the point of failure may be necessary to determine if the delay on start up is a power issue or a boot problem.
Try removing the harddrive so we can test if the machine can power faster.
You can download the hardware manual from the support website for removal guide.

Update us how it goes.

After installing automatic updates on my TOSHIBA laptop with Windows 8.1 the keyboard no longer works.
Upon examining the details the updates were installed a day or two before but the issue started only after a reboot.

The following devices are indicated as not working in device manager:
1) HID keyboard device
2) Standard PS/2 keyboard:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

3) Elan input device:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

There is nothing wrong with the keyboard itself. This computer has a dual boot with a Windows 7 partition. The keyboard works normally in Windows 7.
These are the things I have tried (using the on screen keyboard);

Uninstalling the Elan software update that seemed to trigger the issue.

Uninstalling the items in question from device manager and rebooting.

Uninstalling the items from device manager and scanning for hardware changes.

Installing OS appropriate drivers from TOSHIBA website

Reinstalling the Elan software update.

Running devices troubleshooting software from Microsoft.
I have been unable to find any useful advice online.

I would very much appreciate any advice or suggestions.
The specifications for the laptop are as follows:

I have been using this mouse and keyboard with this computer for well over a year without this issue.

I've tried different usb ports. The only way I have been able to fix it is pressing the power button on my case.

Since yesterday, I have scanned for virus, spyware, malware. Updated BIOS usb drivers, and windows updates. It has happened since I have done that.

My bios has these USB settings: USB Controllers, USB Legacy Function, USB Storage Function, R_USB30 Controller, F_USB30 Controller. All of which are currently enabled.

Answer:Ideapad Flex 15 touchscreen isn't working

hi acmaria,

Welcome to the Forums

Can you open System Properties and check if the OS is not detecting the Touchscreen functionality:
  - Link to picture (Touchscreen not detected)
  - Link to picture (Touchscreen is detected)

If the Touchscreen is not detected, try the following:
1. Hold the Shift Key and restart the machine to boot into the System Recovery Options screen. Once there, try to select any of the options by touching the screen and observe.
2. Shutdown the machine, press the OneKey Recovery button and select System Recovery. On the recovery menu, try to select any of the options by touching the screen and observe..
   - Link to picture

3. If the Touchscreen still doesn't work on one of the options above then it's likely that the digitizer have gone faulty and you need to contact lenovo for service.

Support phone list

If the Touchscreen detected, try uninstalling the HID Compliant Touchscreen first under the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices then reboot. If same problem, you may need to consider doing a System Restore or System Recovery to isolate the issue on the OS level.

Let me know how it goes.

Since lately my FLEX 2 Pro (15) camera no longer works when I use Skype; it doesn't appear in the relevant devices list. How can I check the camera's OK and get it working again please?

Answer:FLEX 2 Pro camea has stopped working

hi EricDeeson,

If you're running on Wni8.1 / Win10, can you press the Windows Key+R then devmgmt.msc then hit Enter to open Device Manager. On the list of devices, check if you have an Imaging Devices --> Lenovo Easy Camera on similar entry.
  - Samlpe image

If the Camera is there but it has an exclamation mark, try the following:
1. Reinstalling the Camera Driver from the D:\Drivers folder or from the Flex 2 Pro drivers page then reboot.
2. After rebooting, check the Device Manager --> Imaging Devices entry and if the Camera device doesn't show any exclamation mark anymore, open SKype or a webcam testing website (like this one) and see if the Camera is now working.

If the Camera is not detected  try to:
1. Boot into the BIOS by tapping F2 during boot-up. In the BIOS, hit F9 to load default settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
2. When Windows boots up, check if the Camera is now detected under Device Manager --> Imaging Devices  try try opening Skype or other apps that uses the Camera.

If all the above steps doesn't work then there's likely a problem with the camera and I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report the problem.

Recently I have recived my new laptop, the Lenovo Ideapad flex 10 and I have a few issues with it - and I am considering returning it. 1) Every now and then, my touchscreen freezes and I have to restart my laptop with the mouse to solve the problem. 2) When I go onto a specfic app (such as the camera man or a certain game) my screen flickers black so I have to turn it off with the power button to fix it. It is very aggravating. I appreciate any thoughts on this topic, thanks.

I  have an Ideapad Flex 15.

Since I upgraded yesterday to Windows 10, I have lost the touchscreen ability I had up to that point on Windows 8.1. On search for pen and touch, I was given this message on a system information page: "No pen or touch input is available for this display." I have looked in device manager under Human Interface Devices. Expanding the view to show hidden devices, I see "HID compliant touch screen." When I click to get device status, this is the message:

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

How do I do that? I note a similar problem in Windows 8.1 on this posting:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/touchscreen-not-working/c48cda2...

Does anyone have any idea how to reconnect the hardware device -- or at least to solve this problem? Thanks!

Hi ak6, 1. Perform BIOS resetPress F1 to enter BIOS when you power on Lenovo laptop, and then press F9 to restore BIOS to factory default settings. Press F10 to save and exit. Press the NOVO button (Small button near the power button), then select BIOS Setup. 2. Re-initiate touch outside OS.? While computer is rebooting or after turning on the unit, keep on pressing the F2 button. ? Once you're there, on the lower right hand corner of the menu, using your fingers, touch EXIT.? If that works, then touch REBOOT 3. Test the touch if it is now working, if everything is working then you MUST do this.  Hope this helps.

Hi. I recently bought a Flex 15 and the headphone jack does not work. Sound does come out of the speakers normally and I have tried using different headphones etc but it doesn't make a difference. When I plug in the headphones, they do not appear in 'playback devices.' I also tried downloading the appropriate driver and it still didn't work. Is there a solution to this? Thank you.

Did you have this issue out of the box? I suggest contacting the support to get this checked.

The touchscreen on my ideapad flex 14 laptop is not working. I've tried uninstalling the driver in device manager and then restarting my computer. I've also checked that all drivers are up to date. I'm on wondows 10 and I think it has worked since the upgrade (though I'm not 100% sure). Any ideas?

Welcome to the Forums Bevvy!

Press Windows+X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Find the Touchscreen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller(A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".  Don't worry, it won't blow up your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Re-open the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

Hello, I have had the laptop for nearly a year, still under warranty and, today, some keys stopped working on the keyboard, more concretly: 5 6 F1 F2 ? '  and CTRL (LEFT) keys (written with the touchscreen). The last time it worked I was using it in class taking some notes and those aforementioned keys were working. Once I finished, packed the laptop into the cover, and into the bag. ten minutes later I took it out in the library and they did not work.No water spilling had occurred (it was dry and the bag was dry too). And also there were no hits to the terminal. They just seemed to stop working, the pressure input feels pretty the same, so they are not stuck by any material underneath. I tried reinstalling the drives (through the hardware management), checked all options in keyboard assesment....tried with safe mode, still do not work.  Could it be some defect and should call for a replacement? Thanks beforehand.

Installed Windows 10 on it, and it didn't fix it, reset to Windows 8, no fix, upgraded to 8.1 and still no fix, all updates and drivers installed, tried the device manager thing, yet still no touchscreen response. It doesn't even show up in device manager. Also, now the display, doesn't cover the whole screen, there are black bars all around the edges.

My laptop has been performing fabulously since I bought it a little under a month ago. Two weeks ago, one of the usb 3.0 ports on the right side (not the "always on" one) stopped working. If I plug my phone into it, it begins to charge but does not show up on windows. If I plug in my external hard drive, it powers up, but also is not recognized. If I plug in a flash drive with a light, it does not light up and is not recognized. I updated the BIOS (didn't work), tried to update the usb drivers that were installed (didn't work) and then tried uninstalling the drivers in device manager, rebooting and allowing windows to automatically reinstall them (didn't work). The other 2 usb ports work fine, one is 2.0 and the other is 3.0. Any thoughts on what to try next? I may just return it since the place I bought it from will still take it back.

Answer:Flex 3-1580, one USB 3.0 port stopped working

I have that problem also. Device Manager indicates unknown drivers for these usb ports. I uninstall them and when it reboots the OS does not pick them up. The system worked fine for a month also and then this happened...I will try next to recover back to original factory settings, but I am not confident that it will fix it or that it will not happen again. I think lenovo quality assurance is poorer than other companies...

I have a year old Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4-1470 laptop.  The computer works perfectly, however the touch screen does not work all the time.  Some of the keys on the keyboard won't work, some areas of the screen do not register my finger everytime, etc.  I took it to the place of purchase (Office Max) and they ran a diagnostic check that came up perfect... the computer is working like it should.  I have a warranty on the computer for 3 years trough SquareTrade.  I don't use the touch screen really at all (only use it because it's there), but I'm annoyed that it doesn't work correctly because it's only a year old.  Any suggestions on a fix?  I can't find a calibration reset for the touch screen or any kind of up system reboot.  Any help will be appreciated.

I have Ideapad Flex 14 Ideapad S100 with Windows 10 having latest updates. A few days ago I had realized that thouch screen doesn't work any more. After consultation with Lenovo Turkey, which was insisting on recovery, I recovered my ideapad turning back to an image taken by Win10 two months ago. This step did not help. Some how next day after recovery in the morning it worked only for a few hours then stopped working again. I tried to disable and enable the "HID-compliant device" or other relaten USB items and reinstalled/activated, it did not help.I hope it is a software/driver failure and this problem will be solved soon by Lenovo.
