I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi first time user hope I get this write, I am using system mechanic pro latest version and on the hard drive monitor status it is showing a warning for the spin retry count.

My laptop is only 2 months old should I be worried? and have it looked at. Thanks in advance. Operating system is win8.1

Answer:My Satellite notebook shows "Spin retry count" warning

In my opinion there is no reason for panic. You are using third part software and they have own rule for reporting S.M.R.T values.

If there is no other problem I think everything is OK.

Open preinstalled ?PC health monitor? and check ?HDD Status?. What is reported there?
I hope ?Good?.

My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.

This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.

I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.

Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.

Thanks, Robert

Notebook does not power. The HP service in Ukraine (company A-Service, Kiev), said that the the issue is in main processor and the motherboard should be replaced, but HP has declined to send it to Ukraine. What should I do, to repair my laptop? Can I buy a motherboard abroad, if your service can not do it?

Answer:Notebook does not powered

A problem has recently developed with my Envy notebook.   About 2 weeks ago my entire wireless network began slowing down when on it.   Noticeable on all devices.    When my provider came out, checked and tweaked some issues it appeared to be ok.   I went on with my daughers HP laptop and was drawing 20-24 mbps all over the house. When I reconnected mine to the system I was only pulling 6, 3, 5, up and down.   It doesn't start right away but after a few minutes.   So I put my duaghers right next ot mine and low and behold, when I ran her's it pulled 3 - 6 also.   So I turned my wi-fi off and hers' popped right back up.   I have also tried this with an old XP mini, my i-pads etc.   As soon as mine gets on the network the speed crashes.    This also happens with no one else home and no other devies conncted. I have downloaded the latest up to date Intel driver for this network adapter and it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas?

Bill_Ving Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about wireless networking poor performance and wanted to help. My immediate guess is that you might have mixed-mode networking going on.  This happens when you have two different PCs networking in two different modes -- one using "G", the other using "N".  The wireless router (or access point) can optimize performance for either mode, but not for both.  So, the "G" mode drags down the performance of the "N" mode PC, but even worse, with the router set for mixed modes, it performs more slowly than with either PC connected by itself. Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can try: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) | HP® Customer SupportGood Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------Please click "Accept As Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. Please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on the left of the Reply button to say thanks fopr my help.========================================================================

I made a Google notebook to keep the minutes of a meeting my business partners and I held last weekend. I made them all collaborators on the notebook so they could all make any changes or annotations they felt necessary. However, when they go to access this notebook they are prompted for a password.

There is nowhere (at least that I can find) to even choose to password protect the notebook let alone change the password. I'm pretty confused as to what password the notebook could be. The only thing I can think of is that it's asking for the password to my gmail account, which I don't really want to be handing out. Any ideas on this one gang?

Hi there!I have a problem with my T500 (manufactured in May 2009).When the notebook is powered off (or in sleep mode or hibernated & powered off) the battery charge is leaking. For example - when fully charged at the morning, notebook staing untouched in powered off state, the next morning battery charge is not 100% but only 30-35%. So at the end of the day (approximately after 40-45 hours after initial charge) the battery is totally drained, notebook is not powering on because of low battery state. When in normal working mode (powered on) battery life is normal, from 2,5 to 4 hours of working life which depends on system load.Does anybody knows that problem or have any comments on it?Thanks!!!Excuse me for my English if it isn`t perfect (that`s not my native language, sorry

New here and so I hope that I am posting in the correct place.
My new notebook an M50-MX5 was in the warranty depot as we thought it had a dvd burning problem, however that was not the case; it was the media.

Anyway before it was sent into the toshiba warranty depot the level 2 tech phone support said to get the computer to be like it was when I unboxed it 2 days earlier, this was last month.
And so to my frustration all of my programs were removed, however before doing this the software techie at the office Ghosted it to my Western Digital Storage Unit and then sent it off to the Warranty Depot.

While it was in the shop I used my 3 yr old toshiba satellite 2410 which I am now typing on at this moment.
I was finally able to get the software tech from the office to reGhost my new toshiba M50 on this past Saturday and left it with him for a couple of hrs and then returned to pick it up as there was not much in the way of programs on it and so it wouldn't take long to Ghost the Images back.

Well, in my Western Digital Storage unit are Ghosts of this 3 year old satellite that I am presently using.
After the techie got my Restore Disk installed and tried to reGhost the image onto the New M50, it crashed.

He was using the wrong Ghost, he was using the one that was from this unit???
I was not happy, especially after he claimed that he now had it Ghosted with the proper Image and I tried it out and it was very sloooooow to Boot. He said it was my Norton 2006.

Something you might want to try (it's a pita) is a repair of windows - this may fix some of the slowness issues you're seeing. The install program he's talking about is probably the U3 component of many larger USB pen drives. I think it's on most of Sandisk's newer large drives. A repair of windows might also take care of this. I seriously doubt that putting the wrong image on the machine and then putting another image on could do any damage to the machine itself - the folks here at my job do it all the time.

My own notebook (Asus EEE PC S101), running Windows XP service pack 3) was twice redirected to an unknown website when I wanted to visit the Guardian newspaper website. I was using IE version 8. Then the notebook froze. When this happened, I had to switch it off without using Cleanup, which I have used safely for a long time. When I had switched it on again, I used Firefox to go to the Techsupport Forum. I followed the instructions to download dds.scr and began running it. Then the notebook froze again. It still tells me "Two logs shall be created on your desktop" Now the cursor does not move any more either. I write this from another notebook, but I cannot create a logfile,m as everything is frozen on my own notebook. Help, please,

It has been two weeks since I discovered that my Lenovo notebook is unable to connect to the Internet. I think that it might be caused by a software I downloaded negligently, which is a ''hide your IP'' type of device. My Vista notebook is running as smoothly as before, but deprived of an Internet connection.

Can anyone suggest solutions on how to repair my Internet connection, or better still, reset my operating system? By the way, my manufacturer did not provide me with a Vista Recovery/Installation Disk. Also, a recovery manager software, unlike in HP, isn't installed. Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Yes do a system restore not a factory restore, you go back about 5 days before the problem started and it should correct the probelm, you don't lose any of your documents etc. Lets say if you did a restore 5 days ago you would lose any new software you have downloaded and then you would have to reinstall it.

Lenovo Notebook E540 battery drains when it is not powered on. My colleague said that there is a cloud connection being connected during power off and it consumes power. Is that possible? Any resolution?

Answer:Lenovo notebook E540 Battery drains when it is not powered on

Hi Kingchechan,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As far as I know only the Windows update will be accessing to the server, or might be any other 3rd party cloud related application, which might be accessing to the cloud server.
Did you check disabling USB always on in BIOS & Wake On Lan from Windows AND BIOS
Check running command powercfg /devicequery wake_armed to see if any device is programmed to power on the laptop might be this is consuming battery power.
Best regards,

Hi there :)

I just installed Windows 7 on a friend's laptop, she was using Windows XP and wanted to upgrade.
The laptop is a Samsung p500 model, 2-3 years old but definitely still works perfectly fine.
The graphics card is an ATI Radeon 1250 (or approximation - I had the exact model earlier but she's since taken her laptop home.)
On installing Windows 7, all of the drivers that automatically installed worked perfectly fine but the VGA drivers. Windows insists that the best driver I can get for the laptop is a generic video driver or something in not as many words. It basically means that the highest resolution I can get is 1024x768, and the transparency doesn't work. The coverflow features on iTunes doesn't even work and it was fine on XP.
I went to the Samsung website, and they don't supply Windows 7 drivers for this particular laptop, i'm not sure whether it's due to the laptop being pretty old or Windows 7 installing the drivers automatically.
I tried the Windows Vista driver, but the download is a piece of software that checks your driver to see if it is the best one available, and it didn't seem to actually do anything when running.

It's not the biggest issue in the world, and I understand if there is just no Windows 7 driver for this graphics card, its just a pain in the **** to be stuck on a low res.

I can always roll her back to XP, just defeats the point of upgrading (and no, I won't subject her to Vista :p)

Any help is appreciated massively! :D

Answer:Windows 7 VGA drivers on a Samsung notebook

Here is the ATI driver page and their explanation of why they don't have a Win 7 driver for it, basically the older cards/chips only support DX9 so they have chosen not to update past Vista.>

FYI for future use run the Win 7 upgrade adviser tool first on older hardware to see what is or is not supported on both hardware and software you have installed>

I have a windows 7 Samsung recovery media disk and a Samsung notebook model-NP-N110 with windows xp home edition. Obviously my notebook does not have a disk drive and I want to install windows 7 on it using the disk. I am ok with computers but not very technical so if you could explain things and describe what I have to do it would be good

Answer:Need help installing windows 7 on a Samsung notebook

The simplest, most direct way would be to use an external USB DVD drive. You will need to access the Boot Options in the BIOS to set the computer's boot order to USB as the first choice. Once you do that you can boot from the recovery disk and proceed with the restore.

Have you tried to do a restore from the hdd using what Samsung refers to as "Recovery Solution 4"? From the Samsung website here: (scroll down to the sections describing how to do a restore) It seems that you should press F4 when you first see the Samsung logo to access "Recovery Solution 4".

I'd try lifting the keyboard and reseating the flat cable. This service manual is for an NC10, but could be similar. If that doesn't cure it, I'd go for a new keyboard.
To prove it, try plugging in a USB one.

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Answer:Trouble re-installing win 7 on Samsung notebook

You need to get your display driver from the manufacturer website. Click on start and in the search box type "device manager" scroll through all your devices and see if you have a small yellow exclamation point anywhere. If you do, that is a driver that you need to get. Search for your computers display driver first in order to get your hd graphics. What is the make and model of your computer?

Does anyone know how to get them from my main computer and then transfer the files via usb to the notebook?

There's a load of drivers for this notebook on the Samsung support site. Easy enough to download to your computer, transfer them onto a usb stick then install them on your Samsung.

Hi Guys
My Samsung N150 notebook is so slow I'm thinking of dumping it! It takes ages for anything to happen on it. Running Windows 7 Starter and with no applications open, according to Task Manager the CPU is running continuously at 76 to 83%. The processes that are running are svchost.exe 50% constant and mainly System Idle Process 30%.
Now, my old reliable PC with XP has a CPU usage of 0% to 1% while idle. Should this be the same with the Notebook? What can I do. Windows 7 and all applications were recently reloaded and I've increased the RAM to 2GB. It's using 1.11GB

Answer:Very Slow Samsung N150 Notebook

I'm worried about it only seeing 1.1GB of the 2GB that you installed. Are you sure it's the right type?

This Samsung RV509 (NP-RV509-AG01IN) Notebook came with freedos. Now I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OS.Installation takes place smoothly but after the restart shows windows error recovery screen. What should I do?

Answer:Cannot install windows 7 on Samsung RV509 Notebook

So, you are planning to install Windows 7 but you are getting an error when it restarts...
Make sure if you install windows, that you completely format the drive, So that all the partitions are gone (or at least a clean partition to install windows on.)

Otherwise you could try activating the installation within (asuming) windows xp. and install it that way.

Not sure where to post this question...New Samsung laptop has 99gb of space on c drive and 350 gb on d drive and is almost empty. Shouldn't most of my space be on the c. I thought that the d was just to save system back up???

Thanks, Joe

Answer:Solved: Samsung notebook drive space

Yes, you are correct, but I would check with the OEM (Samsung) and/or the place you bought it.
It could be a "Returned" machine and was not cleaned up right.

Can you uninstall the Fast Booting program? If not, you may have to revert back to Windows 7, uninstall Fast Booting and reinstall Windows 10 again. There may be other programs from Samsung which are incompatible to Windows 10. Take a look at this information from Samsung: (thanks to member geoffers who found this information).

Seems like it started after loading Norton. The touchpad works, but wont let me select anything with the left or right buttons. I have put in a usb mouse and that seems to work. The buttons work when I am in safe mode. What would cause it to not work in normal Win 7? To be specific, the pad seems fine, the buttons do not work in Win 7. Removed Norton and the problem was still there. Obviously some setting I am not aware of when the full operating system loads. Thanks for any help!

Answer:Touch pad keys not working on Samsung notebook

Does your Notebook have a specific key on the keyboard that enables/disables the touchpad? I know some Dell models have this. (It's kind of like a Caps Lock or Num Lock key that lights up. You may have to use the Function key to get at it).

Answer:Samsung Notebook Model No NP-N130-KA03UK

in the settings of a samsung you should have an option for preserving the life of the battery if you opt in it will only charge to 80% instead of 100% no idea how this helps but i have set my samsung to the 80% option.

I am trying to restore a Samsung N150plus notebook to working condition for a friend, so don't know to much about it.I know it runs MS Win 7 starter, and it had AVG antivirus installed, I have no info on RAM or processor(other than sticker Intel Atom inside) etc. Problem is when you start it comes up with page Recommend using Start up Repair, if you select this it gives a message "Your computer was unable to start" Startup repair is checking your system for problems. The progress bar just continually runs with the message "Attempting repairs". It says it might take several minutes, I let it run for 20minutes and it never finished, so cancelled it. This just seems to freeze the screen, only way to get out of it is to turn off the machine. If you try a normal windows start up the progress bar runs for a minute or so and the screen goes blank. Again the only way to achieve anything is to turn off the computer. Managed to get into Windows memory diagnostic tool which when run, reports no error found, during the test,it says it will restart with a report, which it does but screen remain blank after ms corp progress bar disappears. Again have to turn off. Turning on again with F4 pressed takes me into Samsung Recovery Solution 4(splash page), left running for 20 mins it says 'please wait' but only thing that happens during the 20 mins is hard drive light blinks occasionally.Again switched off. Rebooting pressing F8 and select start i... Read more

No. Adding a new WiFi adapter will not cause Windows 10 to succeed when it failing before. Have you tried only the online upgrade method so far, or have you also tried upgrading from a downloaded ISO file?

I installed a SAMSUNG 500GB EVO M.2 SSD drive in my HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-n100. It fits in the PCIe slot, but when I power on the laptop, there is nothing in the BIOS about it and Windows doesn't see the drive either. I have read some success stories that depend on updating the BIOS firmware, but I already tried that and it's still not showing. Hi all.
My Samsung Notebook 300e has decided to stop booting.
I have tried to start it with the Samsung recovery solution 5 But it just goes to a please wait screen and nothing happens.
If I select any form of safe mode, it will load the files and then go to a black screen with some writing along the top - Windows Version Build: 7601 SP1 Safe Mode. And the cursor appears, but nothing else will load.
I have tried restarting dozens of times with every different option. Any ideas?

Answer:Laptop not booting - Win7 OA - Samsung Notebook

I think my first step would be to check out the hard drive using either diagnostics built into the bios or a bootable CD with something like Seatools for DOS. If the drive is on it's way out all other attempts to boot or repair are ultimately futile and it's time to get started on file recovery.

Hi Tech Support Guys - the best in the world!
Until recently, I have been able to see my notebook PC screen on my TV thru an HDMI cable. When I tried it recently, the TV just showed 'No Signal.'
I tried the same HDMI cable connected between my DVD player & the TV & it works fine.
I selected 'Duplicate Displays' in the control panel & when I apply, the notebook screen goes blank for a few seconds then redisplays in a smaller format but nothing appears on the TV - still 'No Signal.'
I have one graphics driver - 'Intel HD Graphics Driver' version 8.760.0.0.
I am wondering if, during a recent Windows 7 pro Update, something got changed/reset/screwed up.
Can anybody help me with this?

My wife does not do much on the internet.Problem:When starting the computer the boot option screen appeares (for the shutdown was not done properly before, see below)Starting 'Normal mode':Stratup procedure seems normal, maybe a little slow, but this might well be a deception. The buttons in the bottom bar (is that the navigation bar? not so sure about the terminology) however are not responding to moese-action. Here goes,

Recently I bought a Samsung R510 notebook and for the past couple of weeks I'm experiencing something that really annoys me.

Every once in a while when I put a usb-device into a usb-port or pull a usb-devise out of i's port, I get the blue screen of death. It's actually not that big a deal as it saves all of the data that's of significance and dumps it into the cache (is that the way to put it?).

Now needless to say this will not do, and I wonder what is causing the problem. Most of the time I use a usb-wireless mouse and I use usb-memory sticks as well. I'm pretty sure these crashes are caused by the ports as mostly that's what seems to trigger it.
Any support and input is very much appreciated!
Is this a common problem for these notebooks or is it something that's a known problem for some notebooks?
Is it fixable by a user like me or is it a job for the helpdesk?

Answer:Notebook prob, Samsung R510 - Bluescreens & USB devices

Go to the Samsung site and check for your make and model. From there check the driver downloads for the chipset drivers. Install those. See if that helps.

When plugged in with my AC adapter, my X41's battery shows a status of "75% charged" and in "good condition" and the compter works fine. However, when I unplug the notebook form the adapter it immediately powers off (no standby or hibernation - just complete loss of power).  I have tried resetting the battery meter.  Despite the warning that this could take several hours, this process runs for about 5 minutes and then stops leaving the battery meter unchanged (75% charged). A troubleshooting step on the lenova site for a similar issue stated that the surge protector may be stuck and suggested turning the power off and unplugging for a minute to allow a reset.  I did this but no change.  I need to note that the battery was working well (giving me about a 3 hour usage minimum) until yesterday.  It was plugged into my car adapter when the problem started.  Further investigation of the adapter reveals a problem getting a secure connection so I'm not sure if there was some sort of short or if this is just a coincidence. This battery is about 1 to 1.5 years old.    I'm guessing I need a new battery but don't want to spend anymore money unless I feel reasonably confident that a replacement battery will work.  I read on another posting for a "battery won't charge" that a circuit controlling the charging could be fried.  Any way to test this  Any other thoughts? Thanks.Kenston

Answer:Notebook battery shows "75% charged" but won't power computer

Hi Kenston, The best way to resolve this problem is to replace this battery with another one. If your unit loses power the moment you unplug the AC Adapter from your unit with the battery still in,  then this is an indication that your battery has become defective.  Mark

Have you tried a power drain,
Remove the AC adapter and the Battery
Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec.
Reconnect Just the AC alone and check if it will turn on
If not
Can you try
From OFF state Press the Onekey Recovery Button and see if that will make any difference.
If still nogo
Try Removing and Reseating the RAM / Memory and try the Memory Module on a diff slot.
Also Try REmoving the HDD and try turning it on
See if any will make any difference on how it boots up.

I purchased a used Acer Aspire 5516, it has a replacement HDD with W7 Home Premium 64, originally it had Vista 64.
There was only a 500GB HDD with a C partition and it showed up as an ejectable media in the system tray. I have partitioned the HDD to 80GB(OS) and 420GB(Media).
Now, both partitions show up as ejectable (USB) media and I cannot assign D to the media partition.
D does not show up as an assignable letter for partitions, I have named it E, this conflicted with my external HDD storage so I renamed my external storage to K.
I have read several possible fix's, bit most opinions on them are that a reg edit is a patch not a fix. Other answers leave a broken system by making the icon dissapear.
I do not have recovery media or the W7 install disk. The W7 serial is good and it regularly updates.
I can't find the drivers (ACHI) on the Acer site and I'm unsure of what INTEL drivers to use.

Can someone help me with this ejectable media issue?

Answer:Notebook Internal HDD Shows As 'Safely Eject Media'

That is typical when using the Microsoft AHCI driver. The Intel AHCI driver is Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) and should be available in the driver downloads from your Laptops Driver downloads page at Acer. The Intel IRST is a raid driver but also includes it's AHCI driver and is the only way to get it. That does not mean you have to run Raid. It will do nothing if you don't run raid except use the AHCI driver.

So I recently bought a Samsung Notebook, Model Code: NP-RV515. It came installed with the 32-bit version of windows starter so naturally I went on to try and install the 62-bit version of Windows Ultimate. Unfortunately, my network drivers were lost and upon trying to install new drivers from the manufacture site a prompt appeared telling me that "The Device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system". I know this is impossible because I had wi-fi on the starter version.
Secondly, my monitor resolution, which was at 1366x768 on the starter version now has 1024x768 as its highest option.
Please help.

Answer:Samsung Notebook Network Adapter and Screen Resolution Problems.

You may need to download and install the 64-bit drivers for the problem devices from Toshiba's Africa website. This is the drivers page for your model:
Support for NP-RV515I SAMSUNG

Where it says "Select your language", select "English".
Then click "Driver" in the downloads table.

I had a power loss while running on battery (it still showed power left, but suddenly shut down anyway) and when I restart, it reports that the Windows is not activated and Window is not genuine and system might be a victim of "counterfeiting."

Is this a virus (I have MSE on continuously and about once a week scan with Malwarebytes)?

I have run 'sfc /scannow' with filtered output ('findstr /c: "[SR]" c:\.....\logs\CBS\CBS.log" and it appears as usual.

How can I lose my Windows activation?

Answer:Power Loss To Notebook Shows Loss of Windows Activation (!!??)

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

I have a Samsung notebook that i have been able to connect to my wireless router for months. I can't connect to my internet at all but can connect on iphone and playstation 3. I also have the error code 10044 on avast... i have tried to use command prompt 'ipconfig/release' and 'ipconfig/renew' but it says no operation can be performed on wireless connection or local area connection while it has its media disconnected?

can anyone help at all???:cry

Answer:Can't connect to wireless on samsung notebook, but can connect on iphone?

It looks like something (a firewall) is blocking your access to the internet and your avast pops up with the error unable to connect.

Restart your PC and disable your Windows Firewall. To do so, follow these Microsoft-provided instructions:

Answer:Resetar BIOS Notebook B490 / Reset BIOS Notebook B490

Check bios entries for boot order and disable PXE (network) boot. Also run diagnostics on HDD while in BIOS and check to see if HDD problems show up.Last - if no hard drive issue is present, and your computer says no system disk present you may have an issue with Windows OS or the boot loader it uses. Boot from Windows DVD or EasyBCD emergency disk to repair any issues with the Windows boot loader.Good luckCB

Question: Notebook

Ive always added more memory, and harddrive space, So i have maxed out my Ram. Is it possible to replace the motherboard on a dell inspiron 1501, so i can have more Ram, I see people selling motherboards on ebay, Ive heard different responses from friends of mine. Anyone has any opinions to this.

Greetings, PC Picard.

Don't know what operating system you're running, but have you considered ReadyBoost?

Replacing a laptop motherboard can be a daunting task itself, and I can't imagine what obstacles would be involved with a mobo upgrade - but it sounds like fun! Good luck! :major

Question: Best Notebook

My sister is looking into buying a notebook computer, and I don't know much about notebooks, so what would be a good make and/or a specific notebook. She is not going to be doing any gaming so don't suggest any really expensive hardcore notebooks. She will most likely just be using it for the internet and word prossesing. Her price range is no more than $950. Any help or suggestions would be awsome, and thanks in advance.

toshiba is the best IMO.

Question: Notebook

I live in new york and want to buy a notebook.can you people tell me which one is good( i dont want fancy features, i want a simple one at low rates)and also which one has service centre in new york.

Toshiba. Or Apple.

Apple should have service centers in NY, as you could take it to an Apple store and have it worked on. As for Toshiba, I don't know.

But, Toshibas are cheaper, and from what I hear, are the best x86 laptops for a less that huge budget.

Question: Notebook

Product name: HP ProBook 430 G2 NDY70ES # ABC Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit) Kind time of day. 1.What is the maximum memory capacity of this laptop? Now installed 4 GB on 1, Slot 2 is Free. The operating system can be preinstalled on a 64-bit version. 2. The headset works from the USB connector, the 3.5 jack does not work. To work on an audio connector, do I need a driver or do I have this input broken? Thank you for the answers.

Hi,The PC supports a maximum of 16GB DDR3L 1600 RAM (2x8GB). It is good idea to install exactly the same RAM, there are kits of 2x8GB RAM sticks online for good price. It will give most performance and system stability. You will need to install Windows 64-bit version to be able to use the RAM if upgraded. You will need to perform a fresh install. You can download windows 10 from Microsoft and it will automatically be activated as long as it is same edition. Here is the audio driver for your system: Let me know,David

Question: Which Notebook!?

Any help appreciated!!I'm looking to buy a new notebook but can't seem to decide which. What confuses me is the different processors available. Eg., looking at an HP ZD8369EA power notebook. Its got a Pentium 4 640 3.2Ghz with 800mhz FSB. Also looking at a Toshiba Qosmio F20 with an Intel Centrino 1.73Ghz Pentium M 640 with 533Mhz of FSB. I appreciate that Centrino M processors run cooler etc for notebooks, but what I can't work out is how to compare MOBILE processor and normal Pentium 4 speeds? Which is quicker? How do you make comparisons?Mainly want to download DVD/MP3 and occasional gaming. Cheers Everyone..

Answer:Which Notebook!?

because you'll go round in circles. The Toshiba is an excellent machine, and If you buy it you'll probably love it - it's a Toshiba after all - but I would recommend that you factor in the cost of another 512Mb of RAM while you're about it; the standard 512Mb isn't enough for what you want to do.I have only read one review of the HP machine, and that said it ran hot when using the DVD writer, but then so will lots of laptops. It's very well specified, and I'm sure it's an excellent machine. Both computers will be pretty hefty, but that probably won't bother you if you're after a desktop replacement. If I was making a snap choice I would go for the Toshiba, but that's partly because I have always liked Toshiba laptops. It's your call, they are both very nice machines.

Question: TV with NOTEBOOK

I have a Toshiba Portege M200 Notebook with Windows XP Pro Tablet Edition, although I use it mostly in notebook mode. RAM is 1 Gb, HHD is 60 Gb, CPU is Centrino 1.8.I want to be able to watch or record TV, using a USB2 device, eg Hauppage. What devices are recommended? Would I be able to use the device elsewhere in Europe, or just in the UK?My home TV also has Sky, connected by dish. How do I connect to the notebook? Splitter? Would this only work for terrestial TV?Any forums or other web places that would guide me?Thanks,Kibo Kid

Answer:TV with NOTEBOOK

Terrestrial TV in the UK is different to the rest of Europe, so a TV card for the UK will not work in Europe.Your Sky box will have RF out, a TV card will see it as a terrestrial channel. You could then view Sky broadcasts and terrestrial TV. A remote control could also be used with this set-up.

Question: A New Notebook

Guys I am looking for a new notebook, and I have general idea of what I want, but I am unable to find anything comparable so far (in reasonable price range, I.e. about 1,500$). Here are the specs which I've in mind:

i7 47xx Processor
8GB RAM (or higher)
GT760M (or similar range GPU)
SSD Boot drive + 1 TB HDD
15.x 1080p display
Windows 8.x64

I have no preference for any brand, although, in last few years I've bought HP notebooks, generally because I have good connections there in case there is some issues

Does it have the Recovery Console installed? If so are you able to boot to the Recovery Console?

Not as far as I'm aware. (How can I check this?)
Do you have access to an installation disk? Nope (also: it lacks a disk-drive)

What OS is the laptop in question?
Windows XP

Can it boot from a USB stick? From my knowledge, yes.

when did the logon / logoff loop start? Late January following a powerful virus scan (that had left the notebook laptop with Sdra64.exe trojan).

what files were deleted prior to this starting? do you recall the names of those files? No, I was not with the user who was using my laptop at the time.

what programs have you run or did your AV remove some bad files? The AV program last ran was 'Spybot Search & Destroy'
Edit: it doesn't log in, on any mode (safe-modes, last working settings)

I have an old spare SONY Notebook with a 800 MHz processor and only 128 MB or RAM. The hard drive got reformatted and everything was wiped off the drive. (It's a long story.) That was no biggie, since there wasn't anything there worth saving. I've re-installed DOS and would like to install Windows 98, but the program disk for 98 is a CD. I cannot get the CD drive on my SONY to operate. All I can load are floppy disks at this time.

Can anyone tell me how to get the CD drive to operate?
