Yoga 720 15IKB ethernet connection (USB C)

Question: Yoga 720 15IKB ethernet connection (USB C)

I bought the Lenovo ether net to USB C adapter https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/cables-and-adapters/adapters/CABLE-BO-Lenovo-... but it won't connect to the ethernet. I went to the drivers and they said they were up to date and working properly and it shows that the ethernet is there it just won't connect to it.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello ,  Recently I've purchased  a new Yoga 910 , and now I'm working on it's configuration. Up untill now , I've used a wireless connection , which has connected without any issues , today I tried to connect the ethernet cable by using usb 2.0 adapter (the one I use for my MacBookPro) but from reason I cannot see any ethernet adapter avaliable in settings  (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections) preferences panel.I was wondering if the USB 3.0 yoga's port will work with USB 2.0 adapter , nevertheless the old's pratocol devices do work. Thanks

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... SInce the my yoga doesnt come with an ethernet port I bought the j5 create - USB 3.0-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter from best buy. It works for a few minutes when I plug it in but then it just drops the connection. I have to unplug it and plug it back into my laptop to get it working again. I'm not sure if this is a laptop issue or an adapter issue. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be??

Question: Yoga 720-15ikb

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

Hi, i bought this laptop with Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago and it ran smoothly for the first few days then it started to give me the blue error page. I did the recovery twice and the updates but the problem is still there. Fan is very noisy and the double finger tapping as right click doesn't work either. Any help? Thanks.

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

Having issues with constant ghost touches on touchscreen. Have tried checking for updates, uninstalling/reinstalling driver. Ended up disabling driver. Tried re-enabling after a bunch of updates and there are so many ghost touches that it took over a minute to click the "disable" button and make it stop. Have seen previous models have had luck with firmware updates. Anything like that available for the 720?

Lenovo support, thank you for bios solution for windows it's really helpful, but you forgot one thing. That thing is Linux users!! Instalation Linux for that laptop is like a developers quiz, you should become UNIX developer to start FREE Ubuntu on that device. After installation new issues - drivers. What`s going on, Lenovo? I can't use my fingerprint on it, cause no drivers!!!! And the most painfull for me: NOIZE from laptop, it`s like a reactive rocket, on battery it work just 2-3 hours(at the same time linux use less CPU and RAM). Hopeful you'll provide any solution for us (Linux users).  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByHLDA4zXQ5eQXZEQVdfUWEwbDQBest regards,Bogdan

I started having a problem with my screen when I tried to install a program called Monosnap. At first my computer screen was completely white and I had a hard time seeing anything. I uninstalled the program and it got a little better. Virus scans said I didn't catch anything. I reset to my previous Windows back up point and it got a little better. It still had like a white film over the screen with like a halo of pure color around the edges. Then I reinstalled the display driver and that fixed the problem with the permanent white film over everything, except now it randomly flickers completely white, with verticle lines. I've included a picture.

Using both the physical and on screen keyboard I can't send this desired input. Driver reinstalls did nothing. The hardware is fine. I can even get (alt+fn+down) to work. This isn't a global hotkey issue as best I can tell either. Some reported issues included the Intel Graphics Control Panel intercepting these inputs, so I disabled its hotkey manager and the problem persists.

So, I too am reporting the ghost touch issue with my Lenovo laptop.  This is on the Yoga 710-15IKB model.  Same exact issue that others are reporting on the 700, 710, and 900 models.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled ALL drivers found for this model, updated drivers via Microsoft, have the BIOS update, made countless changes to the touchpad to see if it is the issue.  But, NONE of those things have worked.  The issue appears to happen randomly after waking up from sleep.  Usually within a few minutes after wake.  I can do NOTHING to stop the issue once it starts other than to hard reset the power button, then wait a few seconds and restart.  Once I've done that, the issue is resolved until... whenever it randomly wants to do it again... usually the next day. Lenovo... there has to be a solution to this!  You resolved it with a firmware upgrade on the older 700 model.  Can you work through the issue and get us a solution?  And, please, don't say to send the unit in for repair.  The issue clearly is a firmware issue.

I just bought this machine and the display color is rather yucky and washed out. I did play with color calibration in the Windows 10 settings, and was able to match my existing monitor by turning red and green way down and then cranking up the saturation in Intel UHD 630 settings. The problem is, the screen now gives me headache because blue is turned up relative to red and green. So now I'm looking to see if I have the right color profile to begin with. The color profile associated with the monitor was "sRGB display profile with display hardware configuration set to.." Is this the right profile for this laptop? I did search and I couldn't find the color profile for this laptop. Microsoft site says I need to get the monitor driver, not the display/graphics driver, but I don't find that either. Does anybody know where I can find the downloadable color profile for this model?

Hi, I just bought this laptop 2 days ago, and i really am impressed with how it performs. The only problem i've incountered earlier this morning is that some of the keys in the keyboard didn't work (the P,Z,C keys). I left it on sleep the night before.  After i restarted and remove my mouse from the laptop, it suddenly works again. My question is, is this showing some sign of malfunctioning keyboard? I don't want to always have to restart my laptop and doing all the steps above. Any advice?

Hello, I was typing something today and hit a combination of keys that suddenly popped up the message "Autorotate enabled". I didn't know what I pressed but if it were something that I did not want I would not have any way of reversing it because I cannot find a list of keyboard shortcuts that Lenovo has. Is this available?  For reference Windows 10 has this list: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12445/windows-keyboard-shortcuts but it does not cover autortate, for example. Thank you

Hi, I have this problem, which I also had on a 710-15ISK before I replaced mine with this model due to cracked screen. Intermittently, while "computering", the keyboard will stop working as expected.Only a variety of keys will work, like some mode has been activated by an accidental key press.Like I said, this happened on my previous 710 as well. It's frustrating because I'm learning programming, and the issue doesn't resolve until I sleep the laptop and unsleep it, which makes me believe it isn't some key combination I'm hitting, but rather maybe a jam of the keyboard. The same keys stop working each time, and same for the keys that remain working. If I can if it happens again, I will write down each key working/not working, but until then, does anyone have some insight on this?

I have come to my last resort, which feels like I have wasted money on this Yoga - It has taken me almost a year, I still don't have a clean event log and the only thing I have minimized is the locking up of the machine when the nvidea goes haywire.  Simple answer - on edge and explorer I force fed it the crappy Intel chip.  Now it's 'rev up' is limited.   I'm running Win10Pro 64bit. up to date on everything.  This situation has been since the first day I used this thing.  I can't trust it enough to use for work, so here it sits. just something to do nothing much with.   Is there a real fix for this that makes better sense than having a GPU that isn't used?

Last week I spilled drop of coffee+milk on my trackpad and it stopped working properly (I know you think I must have actually dropped a gallon but I asked my friend to come over and open my laptop with me and after we opened it, he couldn't see anything -- he was skeptical that I had dropped any liquid whatsoever, so, yeah, it was a drop of milk+coffee on the wrong place..). The pointer was behaving erraticatly and my friend and I, not tech savvy but rational ppl, figured that it must have short-circuited. So I went to ebay and order a replacemente part. The trackpad came with the keyboard + palmrest. The trackpad seemed to be a perfect match. The palmrest was a little bit different. My laptop has the fingerprint reader but the one I ordered didn't have. I thought it wouldn't make any difference since I only wanted the trackpad. The replacement arrived. I swapped the trackpad, made sure all cables were connected (there's actually only one but you got the point), closed my laptop, turned it on and... the trackpad was still not working.  Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next? I took a closer look on the letters and numbers I found on the trackpad and compared the original with the replacement and there's one or two numbers/letters that are different but they are otherwise identical. I can't make sense of why it didn't work and can't think of what to do next. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks,

Currently I'm playing music on Google Play music which plays fine until I'm about to click on another page or go to the home of google play for example and it stutters for a few seconds. Also not sure if this is related, when I use my bluetooth speaker, audio stutters really bad, worse than when using internal speakers. Possibly two different problems but for now I really only care about the internal speakers stuttering as I rarely use my bluetooth speakers on my pc. Any hardware can be specified.

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically.  Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function.  It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

Hello! In the past few days, my yoga laptop has been having this issue where if I unplug my headphones once, they won't work again till I reinstall my driver and restart my laptop.  However, once they are unplugged again I'm back at square one.  I've tried with three different set of headphones (different two earbuds and one normal over the ear type) and I have the same issue.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio driver a lot of times in these past few days.  I've even tried installing it via redownloading the file from the lenovo support page and nothing seems to work.  Once the headphones are unplugged, only my speakers work.  It is like the laptop kind of recognizes that the headphones are plugged in, but will not play sound through them.I've also noticed that when I start playing music (while the music is still picking up my headphones) the music will start really quiet and then suddenly get VERY loud at random despite the volume number it is on.  Once it gets louder, it stays that way until the headphones are unplugged.  Then, I hear nothing once replugging them in.I'm not sure what to do and I hope I can get some help. Thanks!

Hi there,  My very new Lenovo Yoga 710 (15" IKB) laptop/two-in-one has been fantastic so far except in one regard. Whenever I play a game, the fan gets quite loud and the temperature shoots up. I'm not one hundred percent sure if this happened in the first few days but I have come to notice it far more recently. When playing a pretty standard game, such as World of Warcraft, the temp will shoot up to somewhere around 65 degrees celsius (sometimes up to 70) with the bottom getting quite hot, and the fans will become quite loud. Even a very low requirement game, like FIFA 15 (which is obviously 2 years old now), can cause the temp to reach about 60 degrees and the fans to get loud, and when downloading a driver from Nvidia I noticed that the temperature had again risen, this time to 52 degrees with the fans spinning loudly again. I had earlier had a display issue that I fixed by downloading display drivers from Lenovo's website. I'm not sure if there's any driver I could download to rectify this issue (I already updated BIOS from the download on Lenovo's website)?

Answer:Yoga 510-15IKB screen turning white

Hi, MP87 ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

If you get the white screen during POST but the display is fine on an external display then the cause if most likely the LVDS cable. Try to reseat or change this part and observe.

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

I have looked through all the documentation from Lenovo and on these forums and have not been able to determine which version of the HDMI spec (1.4 or 2.0) the micro-HDMI port supports. Although this laptop has a 4K display, I wouldn't necessarily expect that the micro HDMI port to be 2.0 but it would make since and would be a smart thing to do.

Two days ago, my internet was being slow, and I had the adapter reset as per usual through the WiFi troubleshooter. The adapter for the first time caused a BSOD when doing this. So I thought "Fine, its a one time thing", I didn't get the chance to get the error message but the cause involved the adapter, I know that much. When my laptop restarted, I noticed a nice little "x" on the speaker tray icon. Scrolling over it, it told me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." Nothing I did would fix it, including the basic solutions across the internet such as uninstalling the drivers, etc. While looking at the drivers, not all of them were missing, only maybe one or two, definitely one in the Sound, video and Game Controllers area with the name (MEDIA) in it (that much I remember, I believe it was from NVIDIA too), along with one that was put into the "Other Drivers" area, or whatever it was called, by Intel but with a yellow exclamation mark on it and it related to audio. I got the problem to be fixed by doing a system restore back to the 10th, before some updates occurred.Last night, my keyboard was malfunctioning (not allowing me to backspace, only allowing me to type in certain areas, not allowing me to use the letter "C", and telling me to backspace by hitting "Alt + LeftArrow." (And this was occurring in multiple browsers, not just one)I did another system restore and the audio problem reappeared, but this laptop is quite new, I've ran out of restore points to go back to.... Hi! I have read everywhere that fn+esc should activate/deactivate Paper Display (for example here) but it does not seem to work on my new Yoga 720 15". I found this but it is supported only by different models. Any ideas on what to do? Is the hotkey function working on other Yoga 720 computers? Thanks!

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... Hi everyone. I have tried searching here and on Google for a solution and can?t find anything for Yoga 710-15IKB owners. The only relevant thread I could find was from this user who is describing essentially the same questions, but nobody came up with a solution. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-710-Touchpad-Settings-Area-settings/t... I am trying to activate two touchpad features on my new Yoga 710-15IKB. Two finger scrolling. Two finger right-click tap.Increase speed of touchpad. (The mouse curser is painfully slow, even on the hightest pointer speed setting). However, I can?t seem to find any place to change these settings?I have tried the following: Navigating the touchpad settings via taskbar, looking at each tab (including the ELAN tab). There is no place to make touchpad gesture changes.Going into Windows 10 control panel settings for the touchpad. The only adjustment I can make is ?touchpad sensitivity?.Updating the ELAN driver in Windows 10 via ELAN tab > properties. This does nothing.Downloading and installing various ELAN/Synaptics touchpad drivers from Lenovo.com, none of them activating any ?gesture? settings that I can find. This one specifically did not even work? http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118370 My questions: Does the Yoga 710-15IKB even support touchpad gestures? Are there any owners with this model who have success with activating gestures? Thanks for your... Ended up taking the laptop back to Best Buy. The Geek Squad rep and I compared the model on the shelf. While the driver information matched, my model did not recognize the trackpad as being standalone (it was acting as a mouse in a PS/2 port). We concluded my computer had a faulty trackpad and got an exchange. All is well!

As in my subject, can the Yoga 720 (15-inch) be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor? I understand that I have to get a usb-c to DisplayPort adaptor to get it to work. However, I am not sure of the DisplayPort specifications in this Thunderport 3 port of Yoga 720 as for a laptop to run 144Hz on an external monitor, it has to be at least DisplayPort 1.2.

Answer:Yoga 720 - 15IKB: Can it be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor?

I'm not an expert with monitors, but I'd check the monitor's specs to see what kind of inputs it'll work with. I would imagine the monitor will upscale or adapt to the input signal. It'd be silly to make a monitor that wouldn't work with anything the installed base of computers can throw at it.

I have a customer who has the above model Lenovo laptop. She hooked up an an external display via HDMI using a HDMI-mini HDMI adapter connected to the mini-HDMI port of the laptop which was working fine for more than a few months. She was using the Best Buy Insignia brand. All of a sudden, the external display no longer detected the laptop and the laptop didn't detect the second display. I remoted in and checked everything out and it seemed OK as far as drivers and such so, for simplicity sake (and after having her verify the external display was working wtih other devices), I had her pick up an Insignia HDMI-miniHDMI cable and just bypass the adapter. She tried that, no luck. So I remoted in again and uninstalled the Intel and Nvidia drivers and reisntalled them using the drivers from the Lenovo website. There was no change. I've done some extensive research about this issue in the forums and there have been other models with similar issues and the fixes were... using a different cable, different adapter, or both. These were mainly solutions to solve the problem of secondary displays not being detected at first, not fixing the issue of it working just fine for a while until one day... nothing. Has anyone come across an issue similar to this? I'm trying to get more of a definate solution versus swapping more adapters and cables around. One last idea I have is to hook it up to my monitor via an HDMI to DVI adapter using her HDMI to mini HDMI cable but I have a feeling, th... Read more

What I encounter in detail:- "Ghost Touch" Phenomenon  ,Ghost touch What I've tried so far to fix it: Firmware update: Even though my screen is an LG and is clearly affected, the firmware update program told me it is "not at risk" and wouldn't need an update. So this solution: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/Solutions/HT1... does not work, at all.Updating drivers: I've updated drivers several times with no lasting positive effect on the issue. Win 10 Updates: Seem to have no effect whatsoever, but I figured are worth trying. Lenovo Updates in Lenovo Companion: No effect. Hardware check in Lenovo Companion: Reports no hardware failures. Calibrating Touch and Stylus: No effect. So i was playing the game League of Legends, then at one point ping suddenly raised, checked my connection and it was on wireless, when i have my ethernet cable plugged in, at first i thought it was a cable problem or a modem, so i restarted my modem, but i used the same ethernet cable on a different laptop and it worked fine. Looked on the device manager to see what was up and the ethernet controller adapter wasn't there, only the wireless and Bluetooth was left. Looked for the newest realtek lan driver on the manufacturers website (lenovo) since i couldn't find one for windows 8.1, i downloaded the newest one from the windows 8 tab. Downloaded that, and when i tried to install it i get the error 'The realtek network controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled please plug the cable. So after this i went into the BOIS to see if deep sleep was enable there and it wasn't, so for good measures i enabled it, restarted and disabled, restarted deep sleep. Tried to reinstall but the same error pops up. Tried the intel system identification utility to see if it could detect my network card, but it just says not detected. Now i don't really know why this suddenly happened, i play league all the time with no problems. help please :/

Hello all, I have a rather odd problem I personally have never encountered, maybe some of you big brains can help me figure it out.

I have a Att (Westell) 7550 Dsl router broadcasting wireless at 1.5 megs.

I connect to this router with 2 different machines. A laptop ( Acer 5552 ), and
a desktop computer ( self built ) whose mobo is an Asus M2N4 - SLI, and is running win xp pro sp3. It is connected via ethernet through it's onboard gigabit ethernet port, which uses Nforce drivers for it's
adapter.

Yes, 1.5 sucks, but it is fine for general use, I am the only person using it, and im in a rural area with no alternative.

My laptop connects and uses this wireless signal with no problems, I am even able to play games like World Of Warcraft and other non-broadband intensive games on it.

My desktop, which has the latest nforce ethernet drivers, connected via ethernet, is in most cases not usable at all. It connects and I get the standard 100mbps connection notification, yet, it usually cannot
even load a web page completely. I open its status dialog and see that packet flow is very slow. I have tried rolling back the driver, this does not help. I have deleted the driver altogether and rebooted the machine, this does not help. Other than this, my desktop runs the way it should, I built it, and would consider myself an advanced computer user, so, I do not believe it is my machine. I have looked for obtuse registry entries and services as culprits, but I can find ... Read more

I am trying to set up a new Thinkpad laptop to work on my HOME workgroup and on a new OFFICE workgroup. I have used the HOME workgroup for many years, with many computers, without a problem, but this is the first time I have needed to set up two networks, and a laptop that works on both (I got a new Thinkpad, and rented a new office at the same time - big mistake).

- I am trying to configure the laptop to belong to the OFFICE workgroup, but have access to computers/shared devices from the HOME workgroup when I am on the home network, and of course share the Internet connection on both networks.

- Both networks have a Wireless Router with firewall - the one at HOME is a Linksys - the one at the OFFICE is a Netgear.

- Because of the firewall in the router, I have turned off Windows Firewall (although interestingly, it seems to turn on by itself quite often on the Thinkpad - another issue i need to get to the bottom of).

- HOME network is cable/cable modem, OFFICE is a T-1.

- I am trying to use IBM's "Access Connections" tool to create two network profiles, so that I can easily switch from OFFICE to HOME. The HOME wifi is unsecured, while the office is WEP.

Both the wired (ethernet) and wireless connections work fine at the office, but at home, the wired connection cannot renew the IP address, and so IBM Access Connections automatically fires up the wireless radio, and is only able to connect that way.

The Local Connection (at home) shows in the system tray... Read more

We recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13 (Model 20266) running Windows 8.1 Enterprise. We purchased a USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter, which uses the Realtek USB GBE Family Controller. At first, when connected to the USB 3.0 slot, it would work flawlessly. A couple days later, we noticed that two of the adapters stopped working.  When connected, I would look in the device manager and for a brief second, I would see the Realtek USB GBE Family Controller under network adapters and then it would go away and get a Window?s message saying ?USB device not recognized?. In the Device Manager under ?Universal Serial Bus controllers? a new error device appears (Unknown USB Device) with the following: ?Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).  A USB port reset request failed.? I have tried many times uninstalling this device and rescanning, but the same occurs. What I find interesting is that if I connect it to the USB 2.0 slot, it works fine. Even stranger is if I connect it to a USB 3.0 Hub and to the same USB 3.0 slot, it works. I have tried installing the Realtek drivers, but it didn?t work. The Seller doesn?t offer any drivers.

I have the same problem on a all my computers. You probably already figured it out, but the USB adapter is faulty, I bought one from China (USB 3.0 Gbit LAN with a 3-port USB hub), it did work for a moment in Windows and then failed exactly like you describe, it worked for one reboot in Linux, now I'm getting "usb 1-4.1: device descriptor read/64, error -32". Many of these USB 3.0 Realtek GBe LAN adapters from China are simply broken from factory, I'd suggest getting them in places like Aliexpress and if they fail ask for a refund, I have gotten all my money back for this garbage...

Or does someone has a suggestion which usb Ethernet adapter will definitely work on the Yoga 13? Thanks for your help!BusinessMeerkat

hi BusinessMeerkat,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I think this product is only made compatible for the Lenovo X1 and Helix. since Windows 8 Driver are only released for these models.
I'm not sure but have you tried this driver?
Lenovo USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter Software

If that did not work

You can check this item
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Gigabit-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B0095EFXMC
I think one of the reviews uses a yoga 13 and it worked well with the system.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi, first time on a forum, so please go easy with any responses. I have a D-link router attached to my PC via ethernet and Virgin 20mb broadband works great. If computer is off and I connect to XBox via wireless, it works but if I turn on PC I lose the wireless connection. I was told via Virgin Helpdesk it sounds like an issue with Static IP-Address but I have checked and all devices are set to automatic. Not sure what else to try. (I realise that my Wireless is not protected as I don't know how to set the security on the d-link setup) wasn't sure if this could be having some affect. Any help much appreciated

Answer:Wireless connection stops connection via Ethernet

If you go into the D-Link router's configuration pages (by typing its IP address into your web browser), the Status page should show the devices that are connected and their IP addresses. With both PC and Xbox connected, check that they have different IP addresses.

Been troubleshooting this for a day with no result so hopefully someone here might have a suggestion that doesn't involve reinstalling Windows.  I have an Asix 88179-based USB 3.0 ethernet adapter that just refuses to work on my Yoga yet works fine on my T440p (also with Win8.1 x64), so I know the adapter itself is OK.  I tried installing the Asix driver package to no avail, although I did have some fleeting success getting the adapter to work once when I uninstalled the Asix package and restarted the machine. When I unplugged the adapter and plugged it back in, however... nothing. Most of the time Windows doesn't even acknowledge that anything is plugged into the USB port. Occasionally I get a USB error because Windows sees the adapter in the port but cannot find the driver. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the MS and Intel USB controllers to no avail. Meanwhile, the USB ports work just fine with everything else I plug in to them.  I'm totally at a loss why the Yoga does not see the ethernet adapter or will not load the driver. All the Yoga drivers and software (and bios) are up to date as of today and there are no Windows updates to install. Is there some Lenovo or intel software I need to get this to work? Something seems to be missing here, but I've no idea what.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga not seeing USB ethernet adapter

As an update... I uninstalled all signs of the Asix drivers, l uninstalled the Windows and Intel USB controllers (and let Windows reinstall them on restart) and the thernet adapter worked... ONCE. When I removed it and plugged it back in... NOTHING. Windows did not even see it. I then happened to plug in a USB 3.0 flash drive and that was not seen by Windows any more either (it worked fine before). ASll USB 2.0 devices work, however.  So somehow the ethernet adapter is killing the Windows USB 3.0 contollers so they no longer recognize any USB 3.0 devices. Anyone know how to fix this?

When I am at work I plug my Thinkpad Yoga into the Onelink Pro to connect all the peripherals, inlcuding mouse, keyboard, printer, and two monitors. This morning, however, when I connected to the Onelink everything worked normally except the ethernet network connection. I could not connect to my office network, and I got messages like "Cannot find a valid network"; so I ran the Lenovo diagnostics. It told me there was an invalid IP configuration. I have unplugged and reset both the Onelink and the computer; but nothing had fixed the problem. I have also checked for the latest drivers, and everything seems to be up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions to get me reconnected to my ethernet network, or is my Onelink starting to go bad?

Hello, Really need help here... Have two Yoga 2 13 laptops (and two adapters) and one of them is not working with this adapter:http://www.hootoo.com/hootoor-ht-ue01-3-port-usb-3-0-hub-with-10-100-1000-gigabit-ethernet-converter... By not working, I mean when adapter is plugged into USB3, laptop shuts down!  When already plugged-in with laptop off, then power-up, either it won't power-up or when it does, it behaves very strangely (and no ethernet connection). Important notes:1) Other laptop with exact same driver config works just fine with both USB-Ethernet adapters2) "Bad" laptop has issue with both adapters in USB33) Both adapters work fine in the USB2 port of the "bad" laptop4) Other devices (wireless mouse, memory stick) work just fine in "bad" laptop USB3, only the USB-Ethernet adapter causes laptop to shutdown This sounds to me like "bad" laptop has either a defective USB3 port or power supply (can't supply sufficient current to USB-Ethernet, but can to other devices).  I think it shuts down because it sees a fatal fault condition and trying to protect rest of laptop. Please help! Thanks...Mike

UPDATE Turns out that both laptops now have same issue.  Why it did not cause problem before is very strange.  Almost as if repeated plug-ins caused hardware degradation???  This so frustrating. Updated summary:1) Both laptops will shutdown when USB-Ethernet adapters plugged into USB3 port2) Both adapters work fine in the USB2 port of both laptops3) Other devices (wireless mouse, memory stick) work just fine in USB3 of both laptops4) Installed latest driver for USB-Ethernet adapter and made no difference What could possibly be causing this?  As both laptops now do same thing, seems unlikely to be laptop hardware issue, but maybe still driver (software) related?  Or could it be both adapters are bad (that seems unlikely)? Any ideas? Thanks

Hello,  a year ago I bough Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 20CD0038MC with Windows 8.1 (64-bit) and also OneLink Pro Dock.  Because Yoga has't own Ethernet adapter I connected cable to OneLink Pro Dock. Unfortunatelly it disconnect cable (and switch to WiFI) many times during each day. Everytime it takes only second and than cable was normally connected, but this destroyed every work which depends on stable connection (e.g. streamed webinars). Sometimes disconnection occurs once per day, sometimes 10x per day.  So I bough also original Lenovo USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter and connect it directly to USB port on Yoga - the same problem. So I decided that OneLink Pro Dock itself is fine and problem has to be in Yoga.  Approx. 2 months ago, disconnection time starts growing and sometimes I spend whole day only on WiFi. Two weeks ago, after last diconnection Ethernet don't get back and now I'm on WiFi only over two weeks.  I checked - Ethernet port on OneLink Pro Dock - both LEDs working and shows some traffic- Devices in Windows 8.1 - there is only wireless adapter (and bluetooth adapter), but in LENOVO support is not any new drivers for Ethernet, only one adding support of wake-on-lan. I installed it anyway. - when I turn off WiFi adapter, I'm without connection - LAN doesn't return- I found new drivers for OneLink Pro Dock, but when I attempt to install it, get error message that system doesn't find any OneLInk Dock :-/ (it shows... Hello Community, I have a new Yoga 260 with Win7 Enterprise x64.The issue I am having is the ethernet is not being recognized while the Onelink+ dock is plugged in. I have tried another dock and same results. I also have a separate ethernet adapter which I can use but plugs into the same port as the dock. When the ethernet adapter is plugged in I am able to use ethernet. So, the problem only exists when plugged into the dock. I looked through the BIOS but didn't see too much in the way of USB configuration changes. Also, in device manager the Onelink+ dock has a yeild sign and says cannot find the driver. I have tried to install the driver from OEM and it says the driver is already up to date. If anyone needs more info please let me know. Any help would earn you 1000 internets?

I bought a third-party USB-C to ethernet adapter to test my internet speed and found that it is not much faster than if I use the wifi. I always thought that LAN speed is faster than Wifi? Or is there something wrong with my cheap (US$20) USB-C to ethernet adapter? Hope to gain some insights at this forum for this first-time Lenovo user.Thank you.

Hi there,  I've recently been looking for a means to pxe boot the lenovo yoga 13 to enable me to then image it. After reading that pxe booting is possible I went out and bought a StarTech usb to ethernet adaptor (USB21000S2) but have had no luck so far.. In other postsI've read that pxe booting is only supported if using the official lenovo usb to ethernet adaptor. We're using FOG as our imaging solution (if thats of any use) Please can someone confirm if only the official adaptor is supported. RegardsSimon

Were you able to find any?  I am also very interested in finding one.  I just ordered one of these the lenovo 0A36322 to see if it will work, but it is only 100mb and not sure if it will work or not.

I have recently purchased a X1 Yoga and OneLink + Dock.  All seemed fine at first, but a couple of weeks in, computer stopped charging with the dock and I lost my wired ethernet connection through the dock.  Got "network cable unplugged" message in network center.  I updated everything I had (drivers, firmware, etc) on both the pc and the dock.  Charging issue seems to be fixed, but still no ethernet.  I am getting a unknown USB error(set address failed) in device manager.  I can plug in the ethernet directly to the pc through a USB dongle and works great, but nothing through the dock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I have X1 Yoga (Type 20FQ, 20FR) Laptop (ThinkPad) Windows 10 pro

I have been having a problem with my ethernet port on my OneLink Pro+ Dock connected to my X1 Yoga almost since the day I received it.  If you undock the laptop and then reconnect the laptop to the dock, the ethernet port on the dock will not function.  The only way I have found to get it to function is by unplugging all connectors from the dock (including power) with the laptop connected and then plug everything back into the dock.  Only after doing this will I get status lights on ethernet port and have any connectivity.  Everything works fine with a USB ethernet dongle, but I should be able to use the built in one on the dock itself.

This problem is identical to the issue that has been solved for Windows 7 users - see below thread.  Please address this for Windows 10 users.

Hi.

Just to validate something.
Have you updated the X1 Carbon 2 to the latest BIOS and also updated  to the latest firmware of the OneLink+?

There is firmware - V2.30.000 22 Mar 2016 for the dock.
