I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I have a X270 20HMS0MQ00 BIOS 1.18 and a ThinkPad Ultra Dock 90W (40A2) latest firmware. Every time I take the X270 from dock and reinsert it, while the computer is in sleep mode, and turn on the computer, the monitors wont turn on. I have to reboot the computer while in dock to get the monitors back on. Monitors are connected with display port. Models are HP EliteDisplay E232 (FW version: SIM111). P.S. Sometimes, while in dock, if I remove LAN cabel and reinsert it, the LAN is not reconnected and I have to reboot again.Any succestions are appriciated.

Hi, I bought the think pad notebook in August 2017 . There have been problems with the notebook and I need to bring it the service centre twice. The first time is about the hardisk and this time I just don't know why I cannot turn it on. I have to leave it for two days at the service centre again. I am totally disappointed with Lenovo product as it has brought me much trouble and waste my time! I would try to share my bad experience as many people as possible!

Just purhcased the Thinkpad X270 and really loves it! However I can't find the shortcut key to turn off LCD display. Some previous Thinkpad user suggestion like FN+F3 , FN+F7 didn't work in this laptop. I know there are some 3rd party EXE tools could turn the screen off however I don't want to rely on them because of security. Anyone know the magic key combo for X270? Thanks!

Hisuddently my Lenovo G50-80 wont turn or charge. The only solution i ve found is to remove the battery and replace it back i. Immediately. Answer:My Lenovo G50-80 wont turn on

Hi athanberd ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would it turn on without the battery and just the ac adapter connected?

As you have described the symptoms and workaround with immediate reseating of battery, it would need a motherboard level tech to map out the issue from grounding to bad capacitor/chip. Check for your repair options as some would simply suggest replacement of the systemboard (power checkout guide page 21-22) instead of mapping parts.

Call in technical support for in-warranty repair else to check with your local service center.

Hope this help answer your query.

hay , i just bought lenovo y50 last week and very satisfied with the performance but this morning when i try to turn on my laptop from hibernate, the layer sudenly goes white so i decide to hard hard shutdown it but when i try to turnit on again it didnt show any sign of life ( layer and fan didnt turn on etc... ) but the battery charge indicate is on ... i read in the internet that we must take out our battery and push the power button to 5-10 second. but since the lenovo y50 has built in battery and im afraid to take the backcase open because of the warranty so i've tough . anyone can help me?

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70 wont turn on at all

Hello there, I just got the same problem this morning with my Y50-70. It suddenly turned off while I was working with Win7, just a black screen, power off. So I tried to power it on again and it failed, simply no reaction at all. The only thing working is the battery LED when the AC connector is plugged in. My Y50-70 is only 5 weeks old and worked without any problems until today ;-( I called the support at Lenovo and they told me to "hard reset" by pulling the power cable and pressing the power button for 20 seconds....no success at all. Finally after several tries I decided to send my Y50-70 back to Lenovo. It seems to be a hardware problem. Lenovo offer 2 years of warranty for the Y50-70, because of that I decided not to open it. Let´s see how long ist takes until I have my - hopefully working- Y50-70 back.Perhaps you have more luck than I.Greetings from Germany!

Answer:Lenovo wont turn on

hi west coast-er. as much machine information plus operating system software as you can give. last update.  how it behave the last time it was shutdown.  beeps , sights and sounds. This Is what the community members that can help troubleshoot the machine will ask.  new battery is always a comfort when troubleshooting, so You did good with that.  can you take out the memory / ram , both, and report what is seen and heard when attempt to power-on. then one memory stik in slot one. then other memory in slot one. one at a time.  it will help to know as those who will respond will want to know.

Ok guys, so i have always done my own repairs and rarely encounter an issue. HOWEVER there is always a first for everything! So my Lenovo is around 2 years old, its an i3 6GB Windows 8.1 dream machine, i love it! about a week ago i noticed a grinding noise coming from the fan, and noticed it was spewing hot air, the fan had stopped working and the laptop was overheating, so i stopped using it ordered a new fan and heatsink and that was that!Once it arrived, i immediately stripped down the laptop after watching and re-watching a instructional video for guidance, nothing went wrong, not struggles or issues no "oh darn, that wasn't in the video" moments. TEXTBOOK!refit, all put back together, nothing loose, nothing missing, NOTHING WENT WRONG!HOWEVER!!!! i confidently push the power button and a gust of cool fan air flows out, a smile on my face lasting all of 15 seconds until i notice the screen isn't turning on, the laptop altogether sounds quiet! - its normally a pretty silent HDD with the normal sounds, and my joy turns to ashes in my mouth (for you GoT fans!)So - any ideas here!? the HDD was in perfect health PRIOR to the repair (thanks to SENTINAL HDD Pro) i know this, also i used my bridge to check its post repair status.i attempted to affix a VGA cable with no success, and also a HDMi cable with the same result. So i have restripped, blown, cleaned and double carefully reattached every tiny cable and ribbon, carefully dissembling and reassembling with no success, i have tr... I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 3.14 laptop from Best Buy about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I have had to send it out twice so far because the keyboard stopped working. It was within warranty, so this cost me $0. Now, the computer won?t turn on at all (just 4 months after my warranty expired). I went to best buy to have the computer looked at and was told it may be a big problem. The computer has no physical or water damage of any kind. Sending it out for testing and repair it will likely cost me over $500. The computer was originally $800 and with its record of needing repairs I don?t think it would be wise to repair it just to have it break again (as it does once every six months.) I am finding it very difficult to get any support information from lenovo itself. I have never heard of a computer breaking so quickly and so often. I sent them feedback, but I dont actually know if they will contact me about it. Has anyone else had success using 'feedback' or over the phone? I love this computer and I would buy it again if I knew it wouldnt have these issues or they would give me some guarantee or discount. Thanks for any help!

My lenovo C460 type 10149 desktop computer is not turning on? We unplugged it last night because it was frozen, but now it refuses to turn on. We've unplugged the AC adapter, held the power down.. But none of that is working! The lights remain off, and the caps lock key doesn't even light up. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

My Laptop turned off out of no were when i wasent looking at it, when i tried to turn it on i heard a boom sound but it was quiet. Then i started to smell some thing weird. And when i go online and check if my laptop has warranty, it doesent detect anything.  But i recently got a email saying that i have 15 days of warranty. But i think the website doesent want to work with the serial number.  I have another question, does opening the back cover void waranty ?? I had opened it to just take a look at it and check if i saw anything burned.  So when i click on the power button, the fans wont turn on just the lights. I need help as soon as possible because i need a fast answer my warranty is almost void !

Answer:Lenovo y50 70 Wont Turn On Only POwer

Hi AmericanFighter ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The burnt smell and the boom noise heard before the issue is an important event that should be notified with the technical support team.

As some SN may not show readily on the warranty look up page at the moment due to some changes in the server  you may call in Lenovo tech for an immediate identification and recommendation for repair on the issue or you can send me a private message to check the warranty for you (don't post the SN as it should be kept confidential).

As per opening the cover to investigate , this would not void the warranty as long as no damage during the process as commonly done on customer upgrades similar to this discussion. Issue may either be the power port , systemboard and heatsink and fan needed to be serviced,

The laptop began getting blue screens and error messages after which it turned itself off. It now refuses to boot up. Pressing the power button turns on the LED light to show the laptop is on and it boots up the disc drive. The fan also turns on but only for a couple of seconds before turning back off. I have tried several fixes I have found online such as booting without the harddrive/ram and pressing the power button for 60 seconds to discharge without the battery or AC adapter plugged in and nothing has helped. The laptop is only a few months old so any help would be appreciated.

I know the title is very vague but here is a better explanation. I woke up this morning to find my laptop was turned off and will not turn back on. The laptop was a little hot but no more than usual. All the power lights at the front are not even lit (not green, red or flashing). I think it could be that my power supply died during the night and since then my laptop battery has been drained of all charge until it is at the point where it cant even light up an LED for low battery. Since i do not have a spare battery or a spare power supply to charge my existing batter i have no idea if this is the case or not. Can any1 give me some advise?

On my battery monitor it shows Battey 1 and Battery 2 I believe it's referring to the actual battery and the external battery When I charge with the AC mains it says 50% charging. When I remove the AC charger it shows both batteries 100% charged Sorry it may be a stupid question but I am confused why it says 50% charge when I use the AC charger when both batteries are 100% charged Thank you

My lenovo was working just fine then suddenly it turned off, will not turn back on nor will it charge (light indicator not lit). I tried to take the battery out but its internal and fused to the hard drive. There is a button battery 2032 that I can remove. I tried to hold down the reset button with a paperclip for 20 seconds method with no result. Just bought this computer in the spring, but I couldnt afford the warrenty. It has not been dropped nor has it been exposed to liquid. I need help I am in college and school starts back up soon.

Answer:Lenovo laptop wont charge or turn on...

You don't need to buy a separate warranty, there is one from Lenovo for at least a year. Contact their support. The only warranty you'd be buying extra is maybe a accidental damage one or an extended warranty from whoever sold you the laptop, not the base warranty that comes with a new computer.

Disconnect your charger.Remove the battery.Hold down the Power-on button for 30 seconds. Plug in your charger. If your machine doesn't start, call Customer Service.  Either way, your charger should not be making any noise.Get it replaced while you can. Message Edited by yus9 on 06-10-2009 08:35 PM

My screen just doesnt turn on. I can hear everything fine but the screen is just black. I tried the "press power button for 30 seconds" trick but it didnt work.Heres everything that happened since 2 days ago,-laptop was on for more than 24 hours(plugged in with battery attached)-turned off my laptop a few hours ago and opened the bottom compartment to take out my ram stick. I took a picture and put it back.-saw that the fan was dirty so i wiped off the dust. After that i closed it back up.-turned it on after 4 hours and here i am asking for helpThank you!!!   EDIT: I took out my ram and wiped the gold part with an eraser and now my laptop turned back on. Was this a coincidence? if not can anyone tell me why it worked?

Answer:Lenovo G480 screen wont turn on

hi vitrinithepooh,

It's possible that the RAM stick is not properly making contacts with the memory slot (which is usually caused by dirt) and removing those debris made a solid contact to the motherboard. (i've also tried this method and it works like a charm).

Alternatively, you can also use Q-Tips dipped with 70% rubbing alcohol to clean the gold contacts.

In addition, you may also want to run a memory test on the RAM to verify its reliability.

When I tried to turn it back on, nothing. I plugged it in and the orange charging light came on. Still nothing. Let it charge overnight until the green fully charged light came on. Nothing. I've tried holding the refresh and power buttons as well as the esc, refresh, and power buttons. I've tried unplugging it and holding the power button down and then plugging it back in. Still nothing. There is no external battery. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can you remove the battery and charger then just press the power button for 15 seconds to drain remaining current inside.
Place back the battery and plug in the charger , use the Novo button to turn on and choose BIOS set up.
Press f9 to load default and f10 to save and exit.

Would there be any display using the Novo button (item1 page 7),

Hello,  After 4 and a half months of not being able to use my laptop, I'm getting very frustrated about my brand new lenovo laptop. I bought my lenovo ideapad 700 in Germany in August (240V). I left in September for a year abroad in Japan and used my laptop on the first few days until the battery went down. After that I tried to turn the laptop back on again but nothing worked: no lights, no reaction, nothing. I was using an adapter to conevert the voltage of Germany to japan's voltage (100V). I tried with different chargers, adapters - I tried everything. I even went to a computer store here in japan but even the guy in the computer store did not know what was the problem. I also tried to unplug the battery (from the motherboard, I didn't actually screw it out) and held the power button for at least 30 seconds and tried to turn it on again - still nothing. I tried everything I could think of and with everyday, my frustration and disappointment in lenovo gets bigger. Please, I just want to use my laptop, help me..  Desperate regards,Robin

Dear, I am an IT guy at a MNC and I ordered three X270 in Auguest from a Lenovo re-tailer.after I received them from the vendor, I noticed that I could hear loud fan noise that was usual compared to x250, 260 and even x270 that I purchased a few month ago while I was configuring outlook,. The 3 laptops have been making almost the same level of noise while it's running just windows.  I did not install anything and I ordered them with win 10 pro and outlook was installed as default. Users keep complaining about it cause they used to use x250 but it didn't make the noise like this. the bios update did not make a difference so I could help them so far. Today, I received a X270 that I ordered a few weeks ago from a different vendor and it's definitely making fan noise but it's a bit quieter than the above 3 laptops.  I searched about this issue in this forum and found nothing helpful so I am going to call Lenovo Service Center to send an engineer to compare the fan noise. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know. I will also keep posted.

Hello. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E420 that today stopped turning on. I've tried just about everything (reseating HD/RAM/CMOS Battery/etc.) with no luck. I tried unpluggin everything, holding the power button, and doing the thing where you press the power button 11 times and hold for 30 seconds also with no luck. I called Lenovo and they didn't seem to interested in helping me even though this is a known issue that Lenovo has ackoleded in a previous post. I'm not interested in paying any repair fees as it's Lenovo's issue. I'm not paying for their mistakes. Any help is appriciated.

I have no idea what is going on. I bought this laptop earlier today and the only think I've installed is google chrome. And then all of a sudden the laptop turns off. The adapter doesnt show any sign that it's plugged in. I've tried holding the power button down for 30sec then pressing it again to turn it back on. Nothing. I've even tried pressing the reset button, but Nothing. I am so mad right now since I spent a large amount of money on this, and now it wont even turn on. I've used it for less than 15 minutes

My wireless raido on my W500 seems to be having issues. I've tried everything i can think to turn it on, Fn-F5, network and sharing center, checked the Bios (where everything is enabled and on), and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the card. I believe it is a problem with ThinkVantage and a poor update, but im not sure.

Any ideas?

Greetings, Today I was playing a game called Overwatch and I noticed that my laptop was getting pretty hot. This had happened before so I didn't think much of it. Then, suddenly, my screen went black and there was no signs of life for the laptop, even when it was plugged into the AC adapter. I let it cool down for a little while and upon plugging the AC adapter back in, i noticed that the power brick was making a ticking noise. I suspect that either the laptop just overheated or there was some sort of power surge to the computer, seeing as it wont turn back on. Help me please?  Thanks

I have an older Ideapad z570, it made a popping sound and it won't power up now either.  I ordered a replacement adapter from lenovo thinking that was the issue as the light on the adapter was not coming on when it was plugged in.

After reading some of these boards, it appears I might have an issue with the mother board.  I would like to see abou getting it replaced, but there are no repair centers close to me, and I cannot find any information on Lenovo's webiste as to who I can contact or where I can send it.
And information to this end would  be greatly appreciated.  Sorry to tack on to this thread, but seemed silly to create another one for the same issue.

Thanks,

Mod's Edit: Since your issue involves a different model it was moved to its own thread in the correct forum in the Lenovo Z series notebook.

First time posting, and not very educated when it comes to computers so bear with me. My screen cracked today on my T430. It still had image on the screen but very distorted. I have a working backup T430. I pulled the screen out of the back up and put in my main comp. My main will boot up (you can even hear the windows jingle but the screen had no power. I then tested both the good screen and cracked screen on the backup T430 and both lit up fine. But neither screen will work on the main T430. i then switched the cable that goes from the motherboard to screen but still same situation, works fine on the back up but not main. I hooked it up to my TV through the HDMI cable and I get the display/homescreen on the TV, and I can use the laptop like that. One thing I did notice is that when I boot the laptop up or shut it down there is a very very very slight change in the screen darkeness. I only notice this because the sun was behind me and shining on the screen. When I noticed this it had the craked screen installed. I tried to adjust the screen brightness with the laptop running but it didnt change anything Do you guys/gurls have any input or solutions? Thanks in advanced

Firstly thank you so much for this site.

I have a Lenovo U450 14´´ Ideapad. It has Intel Pentium and Windows 7 Operating System.

The laptop was smashed accidentally two months ago and the screen cracked. However, the laptop itself seemed fine as I was able to connect it to an external monitor. The other day my replacement screen arrived and I asked a friend to replace it. However before I gave them the laptop, I did a system restore to a previous month, for my own personal use. The system restore worked fine and I was able to switch the laptop back on.

My friend replaced the screen however on returning it to me, they informed me the laptop would not switch on – when I go to switch it on, it seems to start to boot but it doesnt complete the boot – there are some lights on (there are four little lights at the bottom left hand side and the first two - starting from the left side – are on), I can hear a slight whirling noise and the machine gets warm, however it doesn´t go to full boot up because the Windows switch on music doesn´t play, which is what I would expect even if the LCD screen wasn´t working.

A further issue is that I am currently in Brazil and it is possible that they used a different voltage to charge it (my laptop was bought in the UK). They said they did not do that and they would have no reason to because it was merely a change of the screen, however I cannot be sure. They asked me for the charger but we charged it and the battery is not dead. When... Read more

All looking good.Lenovo ThinkPad X270 Review by MobileTechReviewhttps://youtu.be/PxGL1vIX_dw"Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X270, the refresh of Lenovo?s smallest traditional business laptop. The X270 replaces the X260 in Lenovo?s 12.5? Ultrabook lineup, and it?s been refreshed with Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake dual core, 15 watt CPUs and Intel HD 620 graphics. It gains a USB-C port and for a portable this small, it packs a lot of ports including Ethernet, HDMI and a dock connector. The 2.9 lb. /1.3kg notebook has Lenovo?s usual excellent backlit keyboard, an MS Precision trackpad, optional LTE 4G and a fingerprint scanner. The Bridge battery system is back with an internal 23 WHr battery and your choice of 3 removable batteries, the largest of which is 72 WHr and allows for extremely long runtimes. Hi all, We are a school and recently have bought 34 of the above Thinkcentres for an IT suite. Unfortuantely 7 now are displaying the above issues. To recap: The screen is blank, but if you screen change mode it says on the screen it is in PC mode (so screen works)The mouse and keyboard are dead and yes they are plugged in!The green power light (bottom right hand side)  is constant green even if you reboot (5 second finger) it still is constant green when it come back, never orange and the machine does no start. Fan is operating. There is power to the machine that IS on. I have swapped out the power cables and mice, put the "faulty" mice onto another machine and they have all worked, but not when you place then on these 7 machines. If any of you techies could figure this out that would be great, it would be a shame if we had to warranty return 7 Lenovo machines due to being faulty..   Thanks all Andy

I've been having an issue with my X270 laptop since I bought it. The laptop is running Windows 10. What happens is randomly (this can take weeks, or days) the trackpad and pointing stick completely stops working. The only solution is to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them using an external mouse. I've tried various versions of the drivers, including the latest, and it still continues to happen. Any solutions to fix this?

I am just going to guess that computer is trying to boot via USB, so you might try changing the boot order in the BIOS so that Windows Boot Manager or the HD is first.

So I had a problem with my T500's backlight initially and long story short, disassembling the computer has now caused the problem in the title. Whenever I plug in the battery/charger and push the power button, the fan will spin and the hdd will whirr a bit, but then after about 3 seconds, the fan will stop and the hdd will click off and cease whirring. The computer will no longer respond to the power button regardless of how many times nor how long the power button is held. I'm looking directly at the wires that carry power. Everything seems to be plugged in. I did the lenovo power trick (IE the 10 one second presses followed by the 30 second long press) and the computer does the 1-3-3-1 beep when I take out the RAM. The monitor is not plugged into it in any way, shape, or form. I do not know if this affects it. However, I have tried attaching the monitor and it still does this. Is there a piece that may have been knocked loose or something? I'm willing to try anything right now because at this point it's a literal brick now.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T500 will turn on for roughly 3 seconds, then turn off and stay off.

Hi npesina, welcome to the forums,

there could be different reasons for the system behaving the way you describe, my suggestions;

remove all hard, SSD and optical drives to see if you experience the same,
remove all RAM, without replacing the drives, and test to see if you receive a system beep code,
remove all components which had previously been removed to test again.

The ultimate test would be to remove everything attached to the mainboard including the CMOS (BIOS) battery excluding the power socket, CPU and the fan. When you attach the power cable the system should come to life, the fan should run and beep codes sound.  After that its really just a case of putting the system back together one component at a time testing inbetween each component replacement, leave the main battery and CMOS battery until last to save having to always connect / disconnect the keyboard in order to turn the system on.

If at any point you experience the same issue as now it may well be that the component you replaced at that point or it's attachment socket on the mainboard  is the culprit.

Synopsis: PSU died, replaced PSU with different model, system boots to bios successfully but does not recognize any devices in SATA ports, nor do those devices appear to be getting power. Now can't even get to BIOS, entire PC flicks on and off repeatedly as soon as I turn the PSU on regardless of whether I hit the power button on the front of the computer.

System Specifications

Original PSU that died: SeaSonic M12II 750 SS-750AM 750w PSU
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
GPUs: ASUS 670 non-top version, SLI (2x)
MOBO: ASRock Z77 extreme 6
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) SDRAM DDR3 2133
Optical drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive
SSD: SanDisk Extreme 240GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch (OS is installed here)
Storage drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III (This was not connected when power supply died)

Detailed explanation:About a week ago my PSU (Seasonic 750w) died randomly while the computer was left running in sleep . I RMA'd the dead seasonic. In the mean time I happened to come accross an extremely good deal on a new PSU, so I bought it (Thermaltake smart m850w PSU) to have a backup and to get my machine working again.

I hooked up the new PSU to GPUs, CPU, fans, ATX power connector, and to all of the SATA devices, (the SSD, the HDD, and the Optical drive). I made sure to connect the data cables to the SATA devices in the same configuration they were in when working properly. The computer boots suc... Read more

Answer:PSU died, new PSU, bios wont recognize SATA devices, now wont turn on

I had a similar problem when I had an Antec PSU die on me. After I replaced it, my Biostar mobo's BIOS would no longer retain settings, and both my Pioneer DVD burners were completely dead. Not recognized in the BIOS, they would not acknowledge any discs inserted, nothing worked. I also started getting BSODs pointing to a corrupt BIOS. Replacing the burners didn't help. Putting the Pioneer burners in a new machine didn't work.

It turned out that the dying Antec PSU had wrecked the Biostar's BIOS chip and both Pioneer DVD burners. Replacing the BIOS chip was more expensive than buying a new motherboard, and reflashing the chip wasn't possible because the flash utility told me I already had the latest BIOS version. I ended up trashing the board and buying an ASRock board and Samsung burners.

If you get a new motherboard (or try another known-good working PC), and you connect your present SATA devices and they don't work, then the dying Seasonic may have burnt them out, too.

I have a Satellite U400 and its a year and a few months old.

In the last little bit it has been acting up, and it started with when the computer goes to sleep and goes to the black blank screen it will not come back from that.
The only way to do anything is hold in the power key till it turns off and then turning it back on. This brings me to the warning screen I have turned my computer off incorrectly. It has been doings this for a few weeks and started randomly out of the blue.

Then just today it wouldnt turn on at all, I was pressing the power key and the key itself would light up, and on the bottom right hand side the little lights would light up but wouldnt turn on, I kept pressing it over and over and over again and finally it did turn on. Once on I only used it for a few mins before turning off again and then would do the same thing, I kept pressing the bottom till it turned on. Its been on now and hasnt turned off again.

Not to log ago I had to reformat my computer due to me forgeting my password and had locked myself out of the computer. About a week after that is when the issues started. I am not all that computer smart, to be honest, I do understand something things, I can follow step by step to do something.

I really dont want to pay to have it fix I want to just do it myself and soon as its in great shape and never had any issues before.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, or why it could be?

I am thinking about reformatting again ... Read more

Answer:Satellite U400 wont turn on & when on wont come back from sleep mode

hi aev270,
sounds like a serious problem to me.
try the following: take out battery, cd-rom, hdd and try again.
if it starts up without this components - you got lucky!
this means it probably a software issue (but i dont think so - sorry)
do you see the toshiba logo / bios messages? no - the you are in trouble.
this strange behaviour could depend on many things: defektive components like ram or grafics... or (badest thing) the mainboard...
if you have still warranty on it you should go to a servicepartner having the system checked.

Dear all,

I own a satellite A100-383 (PSAARE) that will not restart when the battery is totally empty or if I leave it without the battery overnight. The battery will not charge either and all front panel lights are off. I must have always some charge on my battery and do not leave it unplugged more than 2 days.

If for any reason my battery was totally drained, plugging and unplugging the mains from the wall socket would make all lights turn up and charge the battery again.

Unfortunately I went on holidays and forgot my pc unplugged and it does not charge or turn on.?All front lights are off. Tried my dear old method of plugging in repeatedly with the battery and without it with no luck.. I could see a connection for a second or so but I was not quick enough to plug it back in and they turned off.

I would be so thankful to you all if you could give me some help to turn on my pc. Once I have it back on and charging I will buy a new battery for sure.

I am looking forward to read your advices.

Thank you all in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer:Satellite A100-383 wont turn on - battery wont charge

After waiting for several hours and plugging in the computer again, suddenly I saw the line in mains light on but soon faded away. I repeated the procedure and could turn on the pc before the mains light could turn off. I am sending this post from my PC.

I still do not know what may be happening to it but I will try to solve it by buying a new battery and never ever unplugging for long periods my PC.

Answer:Newbie bsod. Wont boot, wont even turn on most times, but does sometimes

If I leave it alone for a few hrs, the system might seem like its going to work, the on switch goes blue lit, theres the normal beep it makes, the three lights on the keyboard flash, then i get packard bell screen for split second which gives me options like enter BIOS, but that scares me. Then it will go straight to the American Trends page i explained earlier and wont go further

Then if you switch power off again and see what happens, it may not even power up next time, no blue lit on, a split second of fan noise then nada. Or it may have nothing happen except you can hear the fan running and the dvd drive can open

Of course she cant find her vista disc!!! We will find it 2moro somewhere though. There is no important data on the pc so if it was possible to reinstall vista I would just leave it in to get fixed. I got quoted 25 pounds.

Can anyone help me out or have any clue. My brother had a problem last month with a firefox update which gave him similair trouble. But lucky for him, it resolved itself after 3 days of turning it on/off and hoping for the best

My computer will not shut completely off when I shut it down. The light for the wireless internet connect does not go black, it turns orange, saying that it is off but now the orange light does not come off unless I hold the power button down.  Also when my computer goes to sleep, when I press a key to turn it back on, it does not turn on. The screen stays black and the wireless internet connection light is orange. It does not boot back up anymore.

Answer:HP wont shut off all the way and sleep mode wont let me turn...

Hi, Try the following. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

Hi, as in the thread title in a clean install of win 10 and the latest nvidia drivers, my monitor wont turn off after its been idle for X amount of minutes that I set in the power savings page and also the screensaver doesnt start after a set time either.

Does anyone else suffer from this problem and if so is their a fix for it ?

Thanks in advance for any help given as this bug is really annoying me.

EDIT

Getting a little closer to solving it. I was noticing problems in device manager, when I was in DM and selected show hidden devices I noticed a pile of usb devices that said they werent plugged in ??? Anyway I decided to just unplug all usb devices except key board and mouse and bingo within a minute the monitor turns off, which was the time I had set the monitor to go off at, purely for testing purposes, once all other usb devices were unplgged the screen saver and monitor going idle now works, now herein lies the problem, I have a handful of usb wires in my hand and I dont know which one is to blame, maybe more than one is to blame, fuck knows but now atleast I have a start on how to fix this shit.

My Soundblaster card prevented sleep. Fixed it with this:

I also disabled my NIC from allowing it to wake up the computer as a failsafe.

Answer:LAPTOP WONT CHARGE AND WONT TURN ON

It would help if you posted the product number or complete product name. You have only identified the notebook model series that it came from and that is not quite specific enough. Identify it and I will be able to give you instructions on performing a hard reset of your notebook. Is it still in warranty?Check your warranty status Here. Does the power\charge LED light up when a power adapter is connected to it?

I got hp z600 and i got geforce gtx 1070, I bought a power adapter 6 pin to 8 pin. I have the issue the PC will turn on and works fine but when i power it off and want to turn it on again it wont turn on at all. I have to unplug it and hold the reset button for few seconds then I plug it back again and it turns on. No it seems it is dead 100%. What can it be? too much power consumption from the video card? I got other hp z600 with gtx 1050 no external power required and it works great. Any suggestion? Thanks

Computer won't start troubleshooting suggestions

Hi,
Try each one in this general order until problem is fixed:
1) check all your connections including your memory, power connectors, cards, fans and ensure the 4-pin connector for your CPU is installed if your system requires it. If you have removed your memory, make sure it is the correct slot(s). Not all slots work. I don't know if this will prevent the computer from trying to boot. At any rate, every motherboard manual details exactly how RAM should be installed for that particular board. If problem persists:
2) test the power connection with a lamp
3) make sure your on/off switch (if you have one) on your power supply is ON
4) remove the cables from ALL drives and restart
5) also remove unnecessary cards and non-cpu fans
6) Borrow a power supply (sufficient power and appropriate 20 or 24-pin connection)

I've seen this happen when a connector is improperly placed. The motherboard and/or power supply can detect an inappropriate power surge and not even start.
Some people have accidentally joined power connectors to each other, usually when hooking up system fans.

Your system can turn on and start booting to the BIOS with only the motherboard, a power supply and I assume some RAM (though I'm not positive the RAM is requied). It does not even need the monitor, although you obviously won't see what is happening but you will hear the power supply start. In general, with such a fault if the... Read more

Hello this is my first post and I hope someone could lend me a hand. I have a Lenovo B series laptop, more specifically a B570. I've had it for over a year and a half now and it was working fine until I started to see some problems. My first encounter was sartup issues. The machine normally laggs whenever Windows boots up to the user screen. I checked for that and the problem was variface login and the fingerprint reader. Seems like they both caused a delay with the boot. Anyways I got pass that by not shutting down but hibernating.  A few months back I decided then to shut down my machine and that was my mistake. It started up and then lagged, I normally corrected this by jus holding the power botton and starting it up till it works. That worked for a while till that moment. I realized when I powered it down, it refused to pass the Lenovo boot screen and whenever I select F2/F8 all I get is "please wait..." and that lasts for hours. I tried replacing the harddrive, formatting it externally NOTHING. I tried troubleshooting such as RAM replacement n all but still no luck. Even removed the RAM and didnt even get a beep or nothing. Lights are on also. I even resored to CMOS battery pull and NOTHING seems to work. I also noticed that when this happens the processor fan stops spinning also. I really need to solve this issue due to me going to university and all.  Please Help! Thanks.

Answer:URGENT HELP! LENOVO B570 wont pass Lenovo Boot Logo.

hi Netflame,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

Can you try the following:
1, Remove the AC adapter and Battery then press & hold the power button for 30secs (this drains the power off the unit).
2. Reseat the CPU (see page 62 of the hardware maintenance manual)
3. After reseating CPU (if applicable, re=apply a thermal compound) and reconnect the following:

a. Fan and Heatsink Assembly
b. Systemboard Assembly
c. Memory Module
d. Keyboard Bezel

4. If applicable, use an external USB keyboard to boot into the BIOS, otherwise, reconnect also the Keyboard and try to boot into the BIOS by pressing or holding down F2. You could also try to press F12 to enter BIOS setup.

If you get into the BIOS,  press F9 to set BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit BIOS. After exiting, power off the computer and reconnect the remaining peripherals.

If the above procedure doesn't work, you probably have a bad CPU, bad GPU, or a bad motherboard and you need to call lenovo or a local repair store to have it serviced.

Caution:
The CPU is extremely sensitive. When you service the CPU, avoid any kind of rough handling.

Edit: added maintenance manual link

Hope this helps.
