I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have scanned for viruses and any other problem causers using - Tredco PC-Cillin and AdAware. I was able to pick up nothing. The problem is that when im using the connection within 5-10mins of the connection I get very slow speeds then fully disconnect. I am connected via router which is located in Room1with PC1. This is PC2 connected wired. I went to the router setup menu (192.168.1.1) and it says either connect or disconnect. I have realised on that screen it keeps refreshing every couple of seconds (could this be the problem)? I have never used Voyager 205 as a router, and it was working fine, until 1-2 weeks ago. If I need to configure the router (how to I get to the different options menus?) and also is there any firmware updates (located where?). Cheers

Hi there,

My Lenovo Thinkpad D530 came with Windows 7, 64 bits and worked without faults for 2 1/2 years.

Some days ago I updated my system to Windows 10, 64 bits.

Since than I got problems with wireless connections. The wireless component build in is the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230. Its installed Intel driver has version 15.18.0.1 from 30-April-2015.

When I start-up my laptop it automatically connects to my wireless router, but when I start-up my browser the wireless connection gets dropped, so that I even cannot connect to a simple page like Google.

Connection via Ethernet / LAN works, but here of course another HW- and SW component is involved.

Any advice welcome !

Hi Michael,

What model laptop do you have?

Lenovo made an L530, T530, E530 and W530, but no D530.

Let me know what it is and I'll move it to the correct board.

Hello,

After the creators update, my wifi will often drop whenever I AFK long enough for the screen to shut off and go to lockscreen. The wifi would reconnect if I "wake" the computer to enter password, but this causes any app I'm using that uses internet to disconnect whenever I AFK.

The lockscreen also takes MUCH longer than pre-creators update to appear. It will simply display my lockscreen wallpaper for nearly a whole minute, then after that display the password input. It's almost as if whenever I AFK, the computer simply goes to sleep instead of only shutting off screen.

I checked in settings and made sure the computer does NOT go to sleep when I AFK, in power settings. I also made sure the network driver does not turn off when away for X minutes, also in power settings. I'm not sure what else to check?

Hello

This problem is frustrating me a lot now. After upgrading to WIndows 10, I have noticed that my Wi-Fi connection frequently drops without any pattern whatsover. It just drops randomly and re-connects after 2-3 minutes. If I attempt to connect to the network in that period of 2-3 minutes, it will sometimes connect, and sometimes fail. I have 2 other laptops (1 of which has Windows 10) and they don't experience this problem.

I have searched online and tried tons of things. Nothing has fixed the problem so far! Below are all the things I tried. Please help if you have any suggestions or if there are known issues with Windows 10.

1. Updated the driver software
2. Uninstalled the driver and re-installed it
3. Unchecked the setting of 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in Power Management of the wireless network adapter.
4. Uninstalled anti-virus to eliminate anti-virus as the issue.
5. Disabled 'Wifi Sense' options of 'Connect to suggested hotspots' & 'Connect to networks shared by my contacts'.

I am clueless as to what the issue is. Please help!

Answer:Windows 10 Wifi drops frequently

You may want to try this:
go to Device Mnager and Uninstall WiFi Driver. If there a Box saying "Delete Driver" check it
If it is a combo card (Wifi+BT), delete also the BT Driver.
Open Programs and Features
Delete Software for Wifi and BT
Reboot
Go again to Device manager , look for WiFi Card and right-click and select "Update Driver", Windows will look online for the right Drivers
If Windows did not find drivers, then install the ORIGINAL Drivers you have got with your PC or Download them from your PC Manucturer.
If this does not work, best option is roll back to previous OS version.

I bought this laptop in May 2015 with Windows 7 OS installed and took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10.Everything has been great, and I love Windows 10 up until a recent system update.Since then, every time I use the laptop the wifi connection keeps dropping out.The wifi symbol in the system tray goes greyed out with a star on it.If I right click and select troubleshoot, the following problems are found        Problem with wireless adapter or access point                              Detected                     ! I recently upgraded the OS on my old Pavillion dv6700 notebook from Vista to Windows 10. The wireless network adapter often drops out when the device is not in use - it may work okay for days, or  sometimes only minutes. Sometimes running the troubleshoot routine resets the adapter and sometimes the adapter has to be disabled and then re-enabled. (Turning the laptop off and on again also works.) I understand that this is an old device, but everything else works fine and even though this problem is relatively easy to rectify, it is annoying. Is there a simple solution to this issue.

Answer:dv 6700 windows 10 wifi adapter drops out

Hi: See if unchecking the 'allow windows to turn off this device to save power' box on the power options tab for the wireless card works for you. What model wireless card does your notebook have? There may be other tweaks you can do on the Advanced tab.

hy,
i have question about 10147 release. does anyone else have WiFi drops? it happens like 5-10 times a day. usualy when i search for windows updates(maybe a coincidence?) or when i reboot the pc. then i troubleshooted a bit, i figured out that WLAN autoconfig service stops working. if i restart the service all starts to work again. how can i prevent those kinds of wifi drops? in the mean time, wifi button gets grayed out and the list is empty, like no wireless is in range (it figures .. since service is not running i guess). i checked the event viewer and saw that many services drops out from time to time including sound (realtek). any suggestions would be appreciated. got a clean install here.

OS: Windows 7
Hardware: Sony VAIO
Powered by: AC
History: The computer is about 2 years old and the symptoms described below started either abruptly or gradually some 2-3 months ago.

Symptoms: The network access icon in the right of my task bar will show 4-5 bars of signal strength. I'll leave the computer for several hours and when I come back, it shows 0 bars with a red x over it. I click it, select troubleshoot and the Windows Network Diagnostics window pops up and says "Problems found"; A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken" - Detected; "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" - Fixed, upon which the icon goes back to 4 or 5 bars and I resume my network connectivity. This takes all of one minute or less.

However, if I need to do a lengthy download, this unexpected action will stop the download in the middle of the night.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS:
1) I tried a side-by-side comparison with another laptop and the Sony VAIO lost the network connection in the manner described above while the other computer didn't.
2) I went to Manage Wireless Networks, removed all networks (including my home network) and then rebuilt the wireless networks by re-entering my home network. I was then able to access my network. However, the wireless network adapter still shut off in the middle of the night.
3) I went to Power Settings/Change advanced power settings/Advanced settings/Wireless Adapter Settings/Power Saving Mode and obse... Read more

Hi guys I got this problem, it only comes up occasionally, like once every couple of weeks, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I have a Toshiba laptop and I connect to the internet using wifi. Sometimes the wifi would stop working. It shows that I'm still connected to my wifi, but with an exclamation mark that says limited or no internet. I disconnect and then try again, but now my computer doesn't detect any wifi network. I usually can see a bunch of wifi networks, but when it happens I cannot detect any. I have a couple external hard drives connected to my laptop too. When this wifi problem occurs, I also couldn't access the external hard drives. I disconnect them, but they still show up in My Computer and I can click on them, even though they're empty inside. My last problem is that when this wifi problem happens, I can't restart the computer. It just hangs, so I either have to hold the power button down to restart, or to wait for five or so minutes before windows tells me it's having trouble and then it restarts.

My network drivers have all been updated. I do have a VPN service minimized but it's off almost always and it was never running when this wifi problem occurs. I also have Norton Antivirus on. I don't know what could be causing it, because I'm not just getting the wifi problem only, and this problem has occurred about five times since upgrading to Windows 10 this past winter. So it's not too often, but I don't know what could be causing it. Thank you,

Hello,

After my upgrade to Windows 10 I'm been experiencing BSOD every 2 to 30 minutes (sometimes even at startup).
I tired uninstalling drivers and installing from safe boot mode, without success.
I've uploaded my last few crash dumps (last one after installing the NVIDIA drivers that popped out this very afternoon).

I've spent the last 2 days looking around for a solution and trying some of the stuff that seemed to have worked for other people, but I still get BSOD. :( Halp!

best to let windows do the nvidia updates and remove GeForce experience as they fight each other and can cause driver issues...
if you can creat a boot USB pen using windows media creator, go to repair option ( second screen ) then troubleshooting try repair or go back to an earlier restore point or using command prompt run these individually......worked for someone else on these forums
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot
bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
or you can reset windows, with option to keep files......

good luck...
let me know how it goes..

Just wanted to report that I just received the lastest 1-2018 Cumulative update KB4056892
and it installed without any issues, for reference it took just over 8 minutes and
there were some odd screens which I haven't seen before, one of which was
a blank screen using MS basic video graphics for about 2 minutes all you see is the spinning dots
with low res graphics .....At first I thought I had a problem but then it moved onto the more typical blue working on updates screen and the %.

Confirmed with winver I'm on version 16299.192

This is the first PC I have tried this update on which is from 2014 and upgraded from 7 to 10 just a week ago!
Next is the PC from 2009, which I also upgraded from 7 to 10 last week. I'll post an update tomorrow.
Aside comment, the number of updates on 10 is dizzying and annoying as well.
What I really DISlike intensely is that the updates download WITHOUT my permission even during
active hours! I have a very slow connection and it kills my ability to do anything on the internet except the update.
MS needs to change this for low speed connections soon. It's driving users away. There are still MANY users with glacially slow connections speeds and we simply can't deal with this kind of behavior .

Answer:Reporting successful install of 1-2018 Cumulative Update KB4056892

I think you'll be noticing this 'cos you've just upgraded. Things should then quieten down.

Otherwise you could upgrade to Pro where you have more control via Group Policy. The initial upgrade will be followed by another large update, then you get an update about once a month, with possible driver updates.

Or disable windows updates for a couple of weeks, then catch up...

Please see the News section for a thread per update per build.

Every 6 months, there's a new major build (where all system files are replaced). This is very unlike '7 (no SP1,2,3, hundreds of updates if you reinstall thankfully!) and
- advantage- applying new build can sometimes solve bugs in a corrupted system
- disadvantage- new build can introduce new bugs and incompatibilities
- advantage- reinstalling is usually - reinstall + 1 big update + 1 cumulative update.
- advantage- in place repair install is typically last major build + 1 big update + 1 cumulative update.

That's a very very rough guide.

FortiClient compatibility with the Microsoft Security update of January 3, 2018 - Meltdown

Description
Microsoft released a security update on January 3, 2018 to insure compatibility of a Windows updates related to CPU security flaw (Meltdown) with anti-virus software products (see Microsoft Security Bulletin KB4072699).

Fortinet tested the latest active FortiClient software versions 5.4.4 and 5.6.3 and found them fully compatible with Microsoft's January 2018 Security Update.

It safe to use these versions with the security update.
Solution
Microsoft requires that the following registry key exist on all compatible systems, even if there is no AV product installed:
Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat"
Value Name="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc"
Type="REG_DWORD?
Data="0x00000000?
With the latest active FortiClient versions 5.4.4 and 5.6.3, it will be required to add this key manually, or using Group Policy, in order to receive the January 3, 2018 security update.

Fortinet will release new versions of FortiClient prior to January 9, which will add the required registry key automatically.Click to expand...

I can't really say for sure if it's the creators update cause I started playing the game 2 days before the CU and for that time I got no problems but after CU I started to notice problems with Dragon Dogma on Steam

What makes me crazy is that even when I make the game run in potato mode (all video options on minimum) I still get stutters! Why this is even happening?

It does not matter the graphics settings cause all PC parts are running OK! It's not like the CPU or GPU are getting a lot of stress and super hot or anything! My PC is perfect and there is no slowdowns no high CPU usage like some ppl complain it's just everything normal!

It's not a fixed thing it varies and sometimes I think it's all OK but then all of sudden I lose frames the graph I use to measure FPS goes red like I got a huge spike and then it stutters. Looks like there is something unknown to me that sometimes decides to make the game stutter for no reason.

An example in Gran Soren (game huge city) is stand still next to the Inn looking to the castle entrance. FPS is OK looking at the entrance but as I rotate the camera with the controller to look to the other way where there is the fountain it stutters and I lose some frames! It's like the game is loading a huge beautiful world my PC can't handle in a simple PS3 game port! Walking at Gran Soren sometimes makes the graph I'm using to see the FPS go up and down like crazy I guess this is not normal and it makes me sad

Tried the newest... Read more

Answer:Game stuttering with FPS drops since Windows 10 Creators Update

One major addition in the Creators Update is that Game Mode has been released and might have been (automatically) enabled, often negatively affecting game performance.

I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version.  Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

Answer:after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

Please confirm the wireless card from the device manger or the network control panel. Also please update the BIOS firmware to the latest version. The BIOS update should ideally be version v1.2.2. Also please try system out with  a LAN cable as well to confirm if is indeed caused by the wireless. Though this may not run a complete diagnostics on the network you can run a hardware diagnostics on the computer using the following steps

Shutdown the computer
Hold the 'Fn' key and turn on the computer
Let go of the 'Fn' key after 2 seconds

This is will initiate the H/w diagnostics. Please let us know if it completes or if  you run into any errors. If  you do run into any errors.

Question: Wifi drops to 2.4

Hi all,
I installed win 10 today and all went fine. It found all my programs and settings with one exception: it will not stay at 5G. It drops out and then reconnects to 2.4.
I have a Belkin wireless adaptor N600 DB. Model F9L1101v2
I know it is not my adaptor, because it will work just fine on a different computer running win 7 and the modem is working just fine also, so it must be win 10 that is the problem.
Anyone else have that problem and cot it fixed?
Thanks
Sven

Hi all,

Got a bit of a weird issue here. I've owned my WAG54GX2 for about... 2 years maybe, and I've got no complaints all round. My usage hasnt changed nor any settings within this period.

However... Over the last week, for some reason the WiFi Connection gets destroyed. I've only seen it once at the point where the Wifi Light goes out (something i've never seen before) - but generally the 2 WiFi conencted PC's fail to keep the connection, they drop out, and fail to get an IP, and when they do manage to get 'on' the connection is terrible. In the mean time, I run wired on 2 boxes that have no noticeable issues at all. Its like the WiFi just gets totally jammed up.

I've tried my hardest to establish what has changed, what is new, whats different at night, and theres just nothing.

Turning off the router and back on seems to have no effect either.

I've attached some logs, I dont know what 99% of it means. But thought maybe someone here could shed some info by translating them.

the Anisdktool seems to be started a lot? normal?

and wns msg tcvd: no idea what thats all about?

ring full looks a bit "** alerting***" but no idea what this is telling me either.

This is super frustrating any insight would be great.

Question: T61 WiFi drops out

I recently upgraded the machine with an SSD, fan, Middleton BIOS and clean Win10. The machine has no problem connecting to the network and internet with Ethernet. However, unplug and use WiFi, the machine will lose connection frequently and intermittently with both rendering the use of WiFi impractical. Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN is installed and no longer supported. The machine reports no problem with the it. Intel's website says the following: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965    Date: 17-Aug-2017 Version: Latest (Latest) OS: Windows 7, 32-bit*, Windows 7, 64-bit*, Windows Vista 32*, 3 more Windows 10 appears to not be supported? Any suggestions? Mark

Well, first of all, Hello to all the Lenovo family. I'd like to tell you the troubles I'm having and try to find a way to solve them. Since I've updated to W10 my Wifi connection drops out and I gotta go to the Wifi Icon and reconnect. This is disgusting because happens all the time. I've tried reinstalling the driver a couple of times, but nothing seems to work. I'd appreciate some help. Thank you. My computer is exactly like this one:http://www.snapdeal.com/product/lenovo-g50-59422410-laptop-4th/1452663291

Two laptops, one elderly W XP with 100% reliable lock on to the router; other one with W 7 drops out at random, frequent and more in the evenings than daytime. Can be recovered by going through the 'check for problems' bit, with result invariably 'cable broken or problem with wifi router or access point' 'fixed'. W7 machine has had updated wireless drivers courtesy of Dell's quizzing the machine and sending bespoke updates for its wifi; quite a large file and successfully installed and also every bit of advice on Google religiously executed more than once. Any advice gratefully received, other than binning the laptop!! Thank you.

I recently purchased a LG Optimus P500h with Android 2.2. I have a problem with its wifi. At home I have Dlink router DIR-825. My laptop and desktop are working good on this network. But this phone keeps dropping the connection, and starts scaning again and again for no reason. The phone can see the wifi, and is able to connect to it, but drops it after a few seconds. In order to pinpoint the problem, I tried connecting my phone to the public library's wifi, and it worked.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Question: Modem drops wifi

Hey guys in the last day or so, my Technicolor TG587n v3 modem's wifi disconnects and then restarts whenever I reboot my galaxy S4, wired internet stays connected but wifi turns off, any ideas?

Answer:Modem drops wifi

Okay. Who is your ISP. There has been known issues for that model. That is why most go with their own equipment for Internet. Too many issues with the all-in-one gateways.

You could just turn off the onboard wifi, and use a Wireless Access Point instead. I use the Engenius ECB-350 for my network. Never have had any issues with it. I can pick it up to 75' from my house.

Question: Swift 3 wifi drops

Hi, I have Acer Swift 3 (14 inch version, i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD). Since day one I bought this laptop, I am constantly getting wifi drops. Even though the connection icon appears to be at full/almost full signal strength, suddenly I can't load any website nor ping anything. I have to manually disconnect from the wifi network and reconnect. Then it works for a while again, but sooner or later it will drop again. It happens on different routers (home, work, public places), so I don't think router is to blame. I also have to add that other devices do not suffer from these drops. I have updated to latest BIOS and I am using the latest wifi driver (12.0.0.278). Please, is there anything I can do except patiently waiting for a working driver? Thank you

Answer:Swift 3 wifi drops

Hey ! I had exactly the same issue until I switched battery mode to - High Performance. You can do it in Power settings or Windows Mobility center - use search to find it.

Hi

I Have had this problem since upgrading to windows 7 /64

When i type using keyboard for whatever reason the internet wifi drops. I am using a TP link unit. It is more apparent when i am typing emails in windows live mail.

Is this a problem that anyone has experienced. I have switched from wireless keyboard to wired. What actually happens is even offline the keyboard itself drops out, i start receiving a note/tone each time i press the keyboard buttons when it has dropped out. When online if the keyboard drops out the wireless drops with it.

I have to kick in the keyboard again by using the mouse to click the screen. The mouse also drops out when scrolling using the
wheel. again i have to click the screen to reinstate

It has dropped six times typing this note.

thanks

Answer:wifi drops when i use keyboard

I have switched from wireless keyboard to wired.Click to expand...

I assume there is a little USB connected radio ("dongle") that communicates with the wireless keyboard. When you switched keyboards did you also disconnect the "dongle"?

Question: WiFi Network Drops

Hey All, new to the forum, thanks for the replies in advance, and I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it in the correct terms.

My issue seems to be with my computer. Often, when I am connected to my WiFi router, my internet service, and subsequent connection to the network, drops inexplicably. My computer will claim it is no longer connected. When I attempt to reconnect, the computer claims it cannot. The troubleshooter also cannot find an issue. All the while, other devices and computers on the network will be perfectly connected without interruption. The only way to fix this is to actually go to the router, reset it, and wait. This can happen within 5 minute of being reset, 20 minute, an hour, or sometimes, days go by without it being an issue. No rhyme. No reason. (That I can find)

Other times, my network, will just...slow down. I'll see the connection drop from full signal to 4 bars. If I catch it then, I can run the troubleshooter and everything will be restored (although the message the computer returns is that there was no problem found). Either this, or if I turn off my wifi, then turn it back on, reconnect to my network, boom, speed restored!

This is driving me insane. I can't seem to fix it. Any help is appreciated, as I am quite tired of having to march across the room 3-6 times every day to reset this. Thanks!

Hello everyone, Over the last few months, my Y40 has started to randomly drop my internet connection for several (like 2-5) minutes at a time. I've resorted to rebooting the laptop to restore functionality more quicky, but its really inconvenient. Initially, I thought the problem was with my modem/router but soon found out that every other device was connecting fine to them wirelessly. Strangely enough, when it happens my laptop does not disconnect from the network and shows full reception, but yet there will not be any internet access through any program. As you can imagine, this is really frustrating and seems to happen once or twice every other hour. I have read about similar problems online, but haven't been able to find any solutions. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Y40 drops wifi frequently

Are you doing some specific activity when you see this loss of connection?

Are you browsing chrome frequently when this happens?

Which background programs are running in Task Manager? Anything suspicious?

Could you try logging into Safe Mode with Networking and see if your system connects to internet and works better?

BrianMcDowell,

Would you please provide some more information in regards to this issue?

Which operating system are you using?
Have you downloaded and installed the drivers from the Acer support site, rather than download and update to them?
Have you made sure your router is using the most up to date firmware?
Do you experience this problem with a different network (different location)?

So yeah, silly me Installed windows 10 anniversary update (i could have chose not to) and now i keep getting disconnecting from my wifi every 2-10 mins. It was working perfectly before it. And I tried everything, believe me. Rolling back to previous build (this had to work :/), turning off power saving mode on my network adapter, reinstalling it, downloading new drivers from Asus website, I've also tried winsock reset, dns flush, ip config release etc. Also turning off my firewall, disabling realtek ethernet adapter, antivirus haven't helped me at all. And yeah I can access my internet with ethernet cable and other devices are working without problems. I also tried an external wifi adapter and had the same problem.
Funny thing is I can still access ipv6 websites after it gets disconnected, it has something to do with DNS. (Yes I also tried putting Google DNS servers). The only thing that I haven't tried is installing wifi drivers that I have on my asus disk that came with loptop (will do it later today)
If you're interested here's my network adapter: mediatek mt7630e
Help will be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Question: Wifi driver drops

My wifi driver disappears from my HP Envy laptop. The driver is a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adaptor. Prior to and after upgrading the operating system to Windws 10, the computer would not display the Qualcommm upon startup. Rather, the computer would not detect any wifi capaility and any troubleshooting information provided was to plug in a cable for internet. Searching for the Qualcomm doesn't help. For the last 4 startups the Qualcom has not reappeared. We ethen removed the Windows 10 operating system and reverted back to Windows 8.1, Th e qualcomm and wifi appeared briefly, but the computer froze and now, following 4 start-ups it does not reappear. In rder to post this question, I've had t plug the computer in. Please advise.

So for most of the day, the WiFi works fine on the laptop. However, there are some periods of time where it just constantly drops out every few seconds (even after I continuously try to connect to the WiFi). Sometimes, in the taskbar, no WiFi networks are even available (might have to wait a while before it shows up again). My other laptop, and my phone has no trouble connecting to the WiFi, so I am convinced it is something to do with the laptop that's the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, it'll be greatly appreciated. This problem is incredibly frustrating! Thank you!

Hi,

Ive just setup a linksys wrt54g router connected to my Yozan Web Distributor II router/dsl modem. Setup was a breeze and my wired connection to my desktop works great, however, my wireless connection is giving me a problem.

After about 10 minutes, the connection suddenly drops from my laptop and I get a balloon msg in my taskbar that says "unable to connect to wireless network - Windows could not connect to the linksys network. Windows will keep trying to connect..."

If I restart the laptop it again reconnects for about ten minutes. If i set a ping, then somewhere around ten minutes it shows hardware error about 3-4 times and then shows "destination host unreachable".

Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Thanks

Answer:Wifi connection drops after 10 minutes

Ok I think I got this one worked out. Some trudging through the forums helped! Apparently my laptop was running on battery power and the power management of the nic kicked in. turning the power management to maximum performance extends this time and connecting to the power has kept the connection on permanently (upto now - 1 hour and counting!)

I recently upgraded the machine with an SSD, fan, Middleton BIOS (for the SSD) and clean Win10--now it's a great backup to my P50. However, while the machine has no problem connecting to the network and internet with Ethernet--turning on the radios switch and using WiFi, the machine will lose connection within a few hours at most.

The OEM is an Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN which Intel no longer supports. The OS reports no problem with the it.

Since the machine was shipped with Vista 32 bit and later upgraded to Win7 32 bit then Win7 64 bit I'm sure that when I did the hardware upgrade and installed Win10 that was a compatibility problem for the WiFi card.

I downloaded Intel's newest driver set (Intel? PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel? Wireless WiFi Link 4965 Date: 17-Aug-2017 Version: Latest (Latest) OS: Windows 7, 32-bit*, Windows 7, 64-bit*, Windows Vista 32*) that does not support Win10. The problem remains.

Does anyone know if there is a driver written by another company that is also compatible with the Intel card and Win10?

Worst comes to worst I'll just use a cable connect with the T61 but I'd much rather ($ and difficulty permitting) prefer to have the WiFi back functioning.

Suggestions?

My 6 month old chromebook 14 has recently developed the problem of randomly dropping the wi-fi connection for several minutes at a time. Sometime (about 30% of the time) it?s very slow to connect to the wifi after either a power-up or wake from sleep, taking between 1 to 3 minutes to connect. The problem seems to be random but is occurring more and more often. I don't believe the problem is my router (netgear r6300v2), because my other chromebook (Dell 11) always works flawlessly and connects to the wifi within a few seconds after power-up or wake from sleep mode, and the same is true for my android phone. I have flushed the browser cache and I have performed a Power Wash of the system (twice) with no effect. I have switched from 5ghz to 2.4ghz and tried changing the channels of both bands, but the problem still persists. Any help would be appreciated.

This problem usually occurs because your router is set to use a wireless channel that is overloaded by your neighbors WIFI connection.

It's best to scan the networks in your area then choose a channel that is furthest away from the ones your neighbors are using. Xirrus WIFI scanner works well for this. You can post the results here if you still aren't sure which channel to choose.

Heres a curly one
I have a customer with a Dlink wireless ADSL router that performs perfectly with a Vista laptop.

But on an XP pc, the usb wifi started dropping in and out continually.
My solution was to put in a PCI card. (A brand new decent Linksys).
It found the access point immediately and showed top signal strength (using WZC), and I typed in the key, confidently thinking of my next job on the day's list.
Only to be confounded when the access point dropped from view never to be seen for longer than a second now and then. No matter what I did on the PC. The usb wifi also can no longer see the access point.
I have not yet tried changing the channel on the AP, nor moving the pc to another area.. but will be trying that next.
(I left the PC installing SP3 in desperation).
I powered up a second wireless access point, and this was detected immediately by the Vista pc, but never by the bad XP box.

Note that it has Avast and Knine web protection.. but these should not disappear the AP?!!!

It occurs to me that both the usb wifi and the PCI based wifi card ultimately go back through to PCI bus, so it appears there is something wrong at that level.
Any ideas on how to proceed to test this theory?
TIA

Hello. Probably there are a lot of posts about the same problem, but I am quite tired surfing the net so I am making post for my convenience.I recently bought this laptop and I encountered few problems.First my wifi droped every 5-10minutes and stayed disconected for about 2minutes and sometimes was Limited Connectivity. So I disabled BT, but my WiFi still was dying every 5 mins or so the only benefit by disabling BT I got was that all i needed to do was Reconnect and WiFi was back up. Also, internet is much slower than on my other devices.Windows 8.1WNA-Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222/Latest Drivers.I have tried everything. From trying to install different drivers to changing power settings. My rooter is fine, 100% sure.So the question is, did acer put faulty parts inside quite expensive laptop or is it problem with the drivers? Is there a fix or should I send computer to warranty? Because it is frustrating, when you can't use featuresthat laptop was desined for. Plus i am sure, that with WiFi usb adaptor internet would be fine, but what's  the pointof occupying usb port when you already have WNA?And other problem is cracking noice. I am aware that that's hdd, but shouldn't it be less noisy? Or on every laptop it's quite loud?I am sorry for a quite long post, but i wanted to be specific.

I have an HP Envy 15 running Windows 10. For awhile now (at least the past 6-8 months), the wifi has been randomly cutting out with no discernable pattern. It has happened on multiple networks and no other devices are affected, so it seems to be the computer itself. What is especially weird is that, when this occurs, it will appear to still be connected to my usual Wifi network but no others will be available. Eventually it says it is still connected to the network but the internet is not available. And if I disconnect from the network I was connected to, it says that no networks are available. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the Network Adapter. When the problem arose the last time, I went into my Device Manager and the network adapter didn't appear there. Thanks for the help.

Wifi will work fine, and then for no apparent reason drop the connection.  Even though I can see the Wifi network, it will not reconnect when I try.  The only solution is to reboot, which so far always works.  Problem is that it will then drop Wifi connection again, usually in less than 30 minutes.  Will happen over and over again over a couple hour period.  Use a hard connection daily at work, so problem happens when I travel or try to use laptop from home.

Answer:Wifi randomly drops and will not reconnect

How far are you from the wireless access point? Is this an onboard wireless adapter (i.e.: inside of a laptop via mini-PCI card and an antenna array around the lid) or is it an expansion card (i.e.: PCMCIA card, express card, PCI card, PCI-Express card)?Did you go to the PC manufacturer's site (or the card manufacturer's site) and download updated drivers?  If not, try that.

Every day or so, my wifi connection will no longer have internet access.  I have 2 HP Pavilion's and 1 Lenovo.  This is the only one that has this issue.  I've had the hard drive replaced and everything reinstalled for other reasons, but the issue with internet connectivity is still there.  If I hover over the WiFi icon in the lower right coner, it tells me right now the NETGEAR router I'm connected to and says Internet access below it.  When I've dropped internet access, the icon will have a yellow mark on it and hovering shows my NETGEAR router but it says no internet access. All I have to do is disconnect from my router and reconnect and I'll have internet access again, but that gets irritating. Could this be a hardware issue on my laptop and how do I determine that?  I'm still under warranty for another 2 months.

Hope someone can help with this!

I've recently got a new modem/router hub and when I try to connect to it wirelessly, it'll connect, but then my computer will drop the connection and won't get it back until I restart. I'm certain it's a computer problem and not a router or modem problem since my mother's netbook can connect and stay connected for hours. The router is in my living room and it doesn't matter where my computer is, whether it's in the living room too, or in my own room, the connection will still drop. When I open up "Connect to a network" in Vista, there are absolutely no networks in the list, even though I know there are plenty in my apartment block. The wifi switch is on, and the list only refreshes when I restart. The connection can drop at any time, whether it's 5 seconds after I've connected, or 30 minutes, but it does it a lot and it's becoming infuriating. I hope someone can help with this because it's driving me nuts already!

Any advice will be very much appreciated and if there's any specs that need to be supplied, I can definitely do that.

Thanks in advance!

Nikki.

Have several Chromebook 14 G4 that drop their WiFi connection and then will not find any wireless networks until after a restart.  This happens often when waking from sleep and the Chromebook will not reconnect as scanning for wireless networks comes up with nothing until the device is restarted   Turning the WiFi off and back on again does not resolve the problem.    Version 50.0.2661.103 (64-bit)Platform 7978.74.0 (Official Build) stable-channel kipFirmware Google_Kip.5216.227.25

Win7 home 64bit on Gateway laptop.
My laptop Wifi keeps dropping.
InSSider shows the beacon signal strength of my router, -25dB; well above other networks near me, at -80dB.
My router is the only broadcaster on its channel.
InSSider shows receiving the signal at -25 dB, but then drops down to -95dB (which is complete loss) then back up. It may be up for three or four seconds or only a second before dropping. The up/down is continuous.
Control panel shows no warnings. Everything is installed correctly.
I power cycled the router as well as the modem, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers for the wifi adapter. Installed newer wifi drivers.
I changed channels on the router.
Changed authentication type, then back to WPA2.
ipconfig release all /renew
SSID is not hidden.
Replaced the router and tried everything again.
--signal still up then down then up/down--changing routers gives same results.

Connectivity is constant with Ethernet (non-wireless) connection.

Last night, between 12 a.m and 6 a.m. the wifi signal was steady. No drop out at all. But after 6 the connection is never up for more than a few seconds before going down.
Unable to locate any potential interference--appliances that may have been off during the solid time.
On a different computer, the local network and wifi has good connectivity. InSSider shows the signal coming from the router to be steady, no drop out.

Any ideas?

Here is a screen shot of what InSSider shows. My wireless router connectivity is the red ... Read more

I use an X201 think pad lap top.   Lately my wifi drops out after being online for a few minutes.I used to be able to click on "repair"   and get back online but  lately repair is disabled and nothing works.I am unable to fire up to wifi service.  I have to re-boot the machine which can be a lenghty process.I looked at  device manager - to make sure it does not switch off to save power - but that is not active. Can anyone help?  At the same time I am also not able to switch off the machine -  I need to force off by using the power button. Not sure if that problem is related. thanks

Answer:wifi drops for no apparent reason

Hi, wantok99

How long has this issue with your WiFi been going on? Also, what operating system are you using? I would firstly recommend (if you already haven't) to update your wireless drivers, which can found here. Just select "Network" from the first drop down menu and your operating from the second, and then download the latest wireless driver. That may help your issue.

As for your not being able to shut down, how long has that been going on? Have the two issues been happening for the same amount of time? And when you do attempt to shut down your machine, what happens? Does the computer even recognize that you attempted to shut down, or does it just continue as if nothing has happened?

Best of luck,
Adam

I have just purchased a D-Link Wifi router, in replacement for my old stardard router. As the title suggests, however, I'm having a few difficulties.I'm trying to connect a laptop to the network. It connects, but surfing the net is as slow as dial-up used to be, and it sometimes disconnects randomly.Does this problem sound familiar to anyone and, if so, how can I resolve this issue? Thanks in advance

Answer:WiFi slow, drops connection

What sort of signal are you getting?Hover the mouse over the wireless icon.Have you tried changing the channel on the router, its normally set at 11 as default.Try repositioning the router incase of interference.Sometimes home cordless phones can interfere with the wireless connection

Alright, I moved to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 a few weeks ago, and everything's been working fine, until this past week. Every now and then, my wireless card will start having hiccups, dropping all connections, losing its connection to the access point, and then reconnecting, all within 30 seconds. Everything will then be fine for about five minutes, then it'll repeat. It starts doing this randomly, and stops doing it randomly. I have only had it happen at home, however, I'm hesitant to pin it on any of my network equipment, as I have several laptops and desktops that all are working fine whenever this occurs, and are connected via WiFi and Ethernet to my router. Sometimes rebooting stops this, sometimes it doesn't. If I shut off the computer for six hours, it stops. Rebooting the DSL modem and the access point doesn't help, as the symptoms continue afterward. So hello!

When I'm next to the room where the router is, the WiFi connection sometimes just drops. I'd say that I can surf something like 2-3 minutes and then all of sudden the WiFi connection drops, and the WiFi tray icon says that I have a limited connection. Though the signal quality is 4, and sometimes even 5 (which is maximum). And then it takes like 15-20 seconds to get everything back to normal again. But then again.. when I was in the same room as my router, actually on the same desk as the router, I didn't have any problems with WiFi dropping - I think I'll test later tonight again, if there's really a difference if I sit basically next to the router and then when I go to the other room, the connection starts dropping every once in a while (and remember, I still have an excellent signal quality). And I'll add just in case that I haven't had any problems with wired connection. And in our household we've got one laptop more, and this one hasn't had any problems with WiFi dropping. So.. it must be something with my laptop.. I guess.

I'm sure you need some more details as well, so there you go:

- WiFi network card: Atheros Communications AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter

According to device manager:
Driver date: 3.10.2011
Driver version: 9.2.0.458

Hi,
I have a rather annoying issue and i'm stuck trying to find a solution. My D-link Ac1900 wifi adapter keeps losing connection to my router every 10 seconds, I have tried many solutions to try and fix this from,

unplugging and restarting my pc
rolling back the driving and updating them
exchanged the device for a new replacement
updating the motherboard bios
un checking the power setting to stop the device from being turned

but still nothing fix the issue, take note that this only occurs on my pc which is brand new, works fine on my laptop doesn't drop out every 10 seconds.
Would anyone have any idea or have the same issue with a solution to the problem.
Here is the ping with the issue,

Answer:Wifi adapter drops out every 10 seconds

Take it you are with Virginmedia. If so enter the router via the internet and if it set to run on 2.4 Ghz and 5 ghz, Disable the 5 Ghz and see if it makes any difference. not sure if you have to reboot the computer after you do that or not.
If no change just put the settings back to original.

I am having a problem with my wireless network in my home. Whenever download speeds over 2mbps go on for over a minute or so, the whole wireless network goes down for around a minute and boots back up. The wired connection works fine during this time. The Router I am using is a Netgear R6200 and it is broadcasting dual-band up to 300mbps and 800 mbps respectively. The drop in coverage happens regardless of which band I am using. Does anyone have any thoughts or possible solutions?

My speedtest numbers are 33.09 mbps download and 6.04mbps upload.

Answer:WiFi drops over 2mbps in download

is this downloading via wireless / cable or wireless only and you say only wireless is effected

sounds like an issue with the router,

confirm that downloading via cable - works OK and does not effect the wireless at all

Hey,Ever since I've had my laptop (6 months) I've had this persistent problem with wifi connectivity. I rarely use my laptop but more recently have come into need of it, so it is getting increasingly frustrating. What happens is, every two minutes the wifi drops. I have to drop into network settings and disable the dual processor I think it is (AC 165)?? Anyway, I was hoping I can be given some guidance as I am on the verge of returning and getting money back for a faulty product. Seems this is a common problem and not sure if I ever trust myself to go with HP again.

I'm having a really annoying issue with my Helix (now that I've got my keyboard fixed); the Wifi doesn't seem to be in any way reliable. What I mean by this is that if I am any distance from the router I will experience random connection drops. In my office this isn't an issue, I'm about a meter diagonally from the WiFi router and I can maintain a decent connection. However I travel a lot and in hotels your proximity to a router for a floor can be quite significant. I write this from a hotel room where I presently have 3 bars of connectivity, however I have been disconnected at least 30 times so far this evening. Each time my iPad3 which is on the same desk and connected to the same access point has maintained it's connection. I have updated the drivers from Intel's site (I got the full package and have the Intel WiFi app), the driver app reports version 15.8.0.5; this was up to date about 2 weeks ago I think.Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or tricks to maintain a steady connection??

Answer:Helix: Wifi drops out constantly

I've been having a similar problem, but at home. I've got a cable modem/wireless router combo from my cable company and no matter where in the NYC apartment I am, the connection seems to drop rather often while other devices, including a Mac laptop, Win 7 laptop, iPod touch, iPhone, and several Android devices don't seem to have the same issue.

My new Lenovo Yoga 3Pro drops the internet at random times and very frequently (sometimes after a few seconds, other times after 15 minutes).  My smart phone stays connected at all times, and my previous computer never had this problem, so it seems to be this computer.  My daughter, for whom I bought the same computer, complains of the same thing (though she is off at college, so it's not the same internet provider).  Is there some simple fix I can do?  I am not especially computer savvy, but willing to give it a try because I can't keep on restarting my computer to capture internet I know is there.

Hi everyone,
I really need some help Please!

I have a very well updated Laptop running XP well patched with IE7.
I have run all the malware scans and there is nothing wrong on the PC.

After exactly 10 minutes of the PC being on, wireless internet connection is lost, BUT:

Signal Strength states "Excellent"

I can't access any website at all on the web. (Except for "Facebook" for some odd reason?) I can't access it
after the 10 minute mark but if I'm already on it, I can navigate thru it's site without being disconnected, don't
ask me why

I have tried the following:

- Dynamic and Static IP setting
- Turned on and off windows firewall and rebooted each time
- Ran all kinds of malware detection and virus scans
- Disabled power management on network card
- I've tried different PCs on the same network and they're fine
- Tried ipconfig release and renew
- Tried repair connection
- Tried netsh reset
- Tried FireFox and other browers
- Logging off and back in doesn't help, must restart the computer to get another 10 minutes

I'm at wits end, Please Help!

Answer:Wifi Connection drops after exactly 10 minutes

Do you have an IM programs? Do they drop after 10 minutes?

That facebook stays on makes me wonder if your DNS server is having an issue. I can't for the life of me imagine what would make a DNS server stop responding after 10 minutes but it sounds like something somewhere might be set to have a 10 minute lease.

This is just a regular home connection with your run of the mill home network equipment?

To test the DNS, try overriding the current dns setting (write it down to put it back after the test) with a temp DNS server for TESTING ONLY, like 4.2.2.2.

If you can browse for more than 10 minutes with that then there are some more steps for getting a good DNS server in. If that doesn't resolve it, there are a few other things to look at.

I have posted this before in the wifi issue threads, posting it as a separate thread so that more people can see and fix this, since it is an easy fix but renders this otherwise good device unusable. Here is a solution that so far has worked to fix random wifi connection interruptions / drops.1. Bring up the device manager by searching "device manager" from the charms menu under settings.2. Click on network adapters in the device manager.3. Right click on "Realtek RTL8723A wireless ..." under network adapters. Click on properties.4. In the properties box click on the advanced pane.5. Inside the advanced pane set the following values to these parameters:selective suspend: disabled (I think this is the only change necessary but I did the other 2 parameter changes as well, you can experiment with different choices)selective suspend timeout: 60WiFi config: WiFiClick OK to save settings.

Answer:wifi drops when i turn on bluethooth

Since there is a Bluetooth Network Adapter and Bluetooth, which one did you turn off?  The Bluetooth switch on the Bluetooth Settings page, which stops both or the Bluetooth Network Adapter?
The Airplane mode turns of both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi so I assume that is not involved.
What type of transfer were you doing?
The replacement device was another Dell Wireless and not Intel?
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi use similar frequencies, any chance some type of interference is happening?  Since the radios are on the same card, it might be more related to an antenna..

I lose wireless internet connection consistently. I can get it back up by switching airplane mode on and off or disconnecting and reconnecting the connection, but then it’ll drop again in either a few minutes or sometimes a few hours – no consistency. I’m using Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo G500s (see below). Router is Asus RT-AC68P Dual Band. Doesn’t matter if I’m next to the router or on other side of the house.

Just so you know: Other computers in house and phone and tablets work perfectly with the Asus. Lenovo works perfectly on Ethernet, and also works fine with the xfinitywifi public, but of course that’s not secure. The Comcast combination xfinity modem and wireless didn’t work well for anyone, so put it in bridge mode and bought the Asus router.

I have tried to no avail: choosing channels on both 2.4 and 5 rather than auto setting; rebooting everything – trying to avoid resetting router since everything else in the house works perfectly with it; double checked the proxy settings as recommended.

Seems to me it has to be some peculiar setting on the Lenovo computer related to the Asus router (since xfinitywifi works just fine).

Thanks for any help.

My brothers WiFi will cut off when he tries to play any games whether online or not.

He can download files fine off the net, talk on net voice chats like Skype, but as soon as he tries to play a game he drops out.

His WiFi works fine at my house, but when he takes his PC back to his WiFi network the problem returns.

He has tried another adapter, re installed all the drivers.

What do you think could be the problem?

If you want any error logs or anything please let me know as I don't know where they are and I will grab them off him.

This problem has been occurring for a few months and we have not found a way to fix it

Every time I use my Y530 for a few hours the Wifi internet connection drops out and the whole systems slows down to a crawl.  Although I am still connected to my router I can no longer connect to the internet.  When i disconnect and reconnect, or use the hardware wireless switch to turn the wireless off and I, then the system can't locate ANY wireless networks.  The only way to get connected is to shutdown and restart the machine.  I have tired removing Readycomm and that did not help.  BTW, I'm using Vista.  At this point I'm frustrated enough to get rid of the machine.  Anyone find a fix to this frustrating problem?  Thanks for any suggestions.

greetings!

i have found a few threads here that describe problems similar to mine, but nothing exactly. i've also used those threads to do a bit of troubleshooting, but nothing has worked.

i connect to wifi on my computer, it works fine, no problem. my tv is connected to my pc via hdmi. i get video and audio fine on my tv when i'm using it through my pc. the problem is when my tv gets power, the wifi on my pc drops, and it stops recognizing all of the wireless networks in the area that are normally on the list. it still will see my network, as it is set to automatically connect to it, but when i try to connect while the tv has power, it will not. it's not just when the tv gets turned on, but when it actually gets power, when it gets plugged in to the wall socket. when i unplug the tv, all of the wireless networks pop back up on my list, and i can connect to mine with no problems.

i'll also note that when my tv has power, and i have no wifi on my pc, i still do have wifi on my phone. the router is about 10 feet from me, in another room.

my network adapter is a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter and i'm running windows 8.1. tv is a toshiba, not a smart tv.

uninstalled and installed newest drivers for the network adapter. it's set to not turn off the adapter to save power and it's set to high performance. i've run the troubleshooters both when the tv has no power/pc has wifi, and when the tv has power/pc has no wifi. it always says there is nothing wrong wit... Answer:PC drops wifi connection when TV gets power (hdmi)

Welcome to the forum!

Your post is a bit confusing. You talk about HDMI and WiFi which have nothing to do with each other. Plugging in HDMI to the TV should have no affect on your WiFI unless you have a computer hardware problem.

Also no mention of router make/model. Computer make/model would be nice too.

Going by what you describe with the TV it sounds like your computer's HDMI port is messed up. Have you tried different HDMI cable?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and hope the community can help me. This problem has been driving me nuts.
I have a Belkin F5D8632 wireless N router, and have just moved into a new apartment building. I set up my router and found that the wifi regularly drops (on all devices) and doesn't reconnect until I perform a reboot. Wired devices are unaffected. The wireless drop seems to happen fairly quickly when the connection is in use, but it will last slightly longer if the connection isn't subject to heavy traffic.
I have this app on my phone and can see that there are numerous networks around me, taking up most channels. The app shows that the least congested channels are 2 and 13, but they still overlap with relatively strong signals from other apartments.
I've tried several channels but I can't get the wifi to remain constant. I'm not even sure that it's channel congestion that's causing the problem...
Will I ned to buy a dual band router in order to make use of the 5GHz band, avoiding interference with neighbors? I'd really rather avoid having to do this as it would mean replacing all my wireless cards with 5GHz capable ones. Mine and my girlfriend's mobile phones also only support 2.4GHz connections.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm about to throw my laptop out this very high window.

Here's a weird one for you experts.

Background: I have an XP pro x32 machine on wireless with shared folders, a 7 Ultimate x64 machine (fresh install) on wireless, and Linksys Wireless/wired router (I'll get the model number later, can't remember). I've had the shares on xp set up for a long time and never had an issue with them on XP or Vista machines. The two machines are on the same router, same subnet, same workgroup (home), individually assigned IPs, and can access the outside fine. 7 does not have a "share group" set up.

Issue: Whenever I access a shared folder from the 7 machine it connects fine until I start to transfer files. It will make it anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes before the wireless connections on both machines are dropped. The connection problems only happen when copying shared files; I can browse shared folders or internet all I want.

I've been through the How-to-share tutorials but no change. Any ideas what to try next?

Side note that may or may not have any bearing: I had been having an issue where the wireless adapter didn't exist (device manager or anywhere else) after coming back from sleep. That required me to reboot to see it again. I fixed it by disabling the save power feature on the driver and disabling sleep mode.

Answer:Accessing xp share drops both wifi connections

might be worth a look at a small program called "Net Stumbler" it will show if there is another network using the same frequency and channel number
In the share make sure "everyone' is in the share group and your permissions are set up on each share

Overall, I'm happy with this Chromebook after using it for four days. The only problem is that the wifi connection has been getting worse and worse. The Chromebook keeps dropping wifi signals. To troubleshoot the problem, I've connected with my laptop side by side with my Chromebook and the laptop has no connection problems with the same network. The Chromebook shows the wifi signal at around 48% when the laptop shows 100%. I disconnected wifi on my laptop in case there was some kind of interference and tried again with the Chromebook, but that didn't help. This Chromebook problem started a couple of days after I started using it and seems to be getting worse. Web surfing is still possible on the Chromebook because the disconnections are sporadic. The main problem is that my VPN disconnects every time the signal strength drops. Again, my laptop has no problems with the same network, the same VPN (and the same VPN server) and the same location. Do I have a bad unit?

Answer:C720 Chromebook - wifi connection drops

So after many hours of testing...I have found a solution. In fact, it does turn out to be a router setting for me. I have a Cisco DPC3825 and I had to uncheck IP FLOOD DETECTION in the security tab. Simple as that.  My router log said that the Chromebook was sending LAN UDP Flood packets. I apologize to ACER Tech Support. It might be usefull to add a FAQ to this effect.

Among the several other unacceptable issues with this computer, the most irritating is that it will drop Wifi randomly every day or two and does not work again until I restart, which also has an issue: when I try to restart or shut down due to this issue, it will never do it without me having to force it. I click the shutdown/restart button and it will go to the blue page with the spinning dots and stay there, or go black and leave the keyboard lit, never actually shutting down until I force it. And there is no troubleshooting the wifi without restarting, because it will not open network settings when this happens. Somebody please help, this is ridiculous.

Hi, I have a HP Envy 15 with Windows 10. All works well, but not the wifi... It is really terrible. I must admit; the internet here is not very good (Thailand, Vietnam, China and more countries in this region coming), but I cannot load a single page sometimes. My wife has an other laptop and when she is connected internet is working like it should; websites are loaded and I can place this post on hp.com. As soon as I connect to the network her internet drops like crazy! Like my laptop is sucking up all the internet here. I checked everything and nothing really happens on the HP laptop. When first connected it works for 2 seconds after that it is gone again. Wait like 10 minutes and it is up for 2 seconds again. A little while ago we were in Sai gon. In the hotel: Terrible internet and it was really hard for me to connect. My wife didn't had problems. Then we went to a cafe. There it worked fine! And I can tell you that there were a lot more people connected to that single network then in the hotel. We are in Bangkok now. All the problems again, but no cafe around here to flee to. But that is really stupid, because there is internet here and it works "fine" on my wife's laptop. The things I tried: Uninstall the drivers and reinstallCheck for leftover VPN stuff and removed it (needed in China)Checked for malware. One found, not really important, removedNVIDIA showed some stream software. Deinstalled it, just to be sure... And still problemsPowerman... Read more

I posted this elsewhere but thought it might be somewhat of a more unique problem. It took me a while to get my wifi working, so I am currently using driver 16.5.3.6. I attempted to pair some bluetooth headphones to the computer tonight (a set of Plantronics headphones I use with my iPhone), but when I turned bluetooth on, the wifi just completely cut out. I attempted to uninstall and update my bluetooth driver but nothing seems to be working. Has anyone had this problem?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro wifi drops when Bluetooth is turned on?

WiFi and Bluetooth hardly coexist in the 2.4 GHz band. Swap your WiFi to 7260AC and use 5 GHz band only. That way Bluetooth and WiFi can work without interfering each other. Otherwise, you'll always expect connectivity issues with WiFi whenever Bluetooth is sending and receiving radio.

Hey guys/gals!

This problem just recently started happening with my computer. I'll be playing a video game or surfing the web or whatever and all of a sudden my wifi connection will drop.

So I'll click the wifi symbol at the bottom right hand corner of the screen to reconnect... but even though it will say that there are connections when I hover over the icon, the list of possible connections will be blank.

I uploaded a screenshot to imgur so you can see for yourself: http://i.imgur.com/qAC5YX1.jpg

The only way for me to fix this problem is to system restore to a few days ago. But this is getting pretty tedious.

Help please?
