BSOD windows 8.1 .dmp file inside

Question: BSOD windows 8.1 .dmp file inside

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BJhjrNSaa6rIpQW1d4R_7aFvTuC0Czqx

google file of the .dmp, just started happening 2 days ago after an update so i'm assuming it's software related, doesn't happen constantly, sometimes i can go hours without blue screening, get a DPC watchdog violation when i let it error report

The bugcheck was: 0x00000133 (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000001e00, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Basically ive been having the problem for a few months now, it wasnt as frequent BSOD to start but now the last 2 weeks its been every 2-3 hours, ive tried removing programs from the last few months and downloading driver after driver but i cant seem to find the source of the problem, if you need anymore info feel free to ask.

Answer:BSOD from Ndis.sys,ntoskrnl.exe & ataport.sys. DMP FILE INSIDE!

Are you using a USB PC Port adapter from 2Wire?

The driver, 2WirePCP.sys seems to have caused the Blue screen that generated the dump file.

I would get an updated driver.

Hey i'm hoping someone can translate these dump files for me and tell me what the problem is. I'm assuming it's the cpu but not sure why, my temps are fine and I opened up my case to allow more air flow and cleaned out the dust. Basically after playing for about 30min I get a BSOD.

**Had to change the file extension to .txt to upload, change it back to .dmp

If any more info is required let me know and i'll provide it, thanks!

Hey guys!

If anyone could take a look at the .dmp file, it would be much appreciated.

I get a random BSOD at any random time.

Thanks!

*If you change the file to ".dmp" instead of ".txt" it SHOULD work.*

Hi -

The dump has a bugcheck = 0x124 = WHEA - unknown hardware error

The only items of interest in the loaded driver listing is that your Marvell Yukon Ethernet driver needs to be updated -

I also noticed the very recent updates of ESET NOD32 and ATI video.

This message found in the dump -

Hello, We have gone to the website
http://www.salonrenovationmaisonneuve.com/en/exposants
and download the file to open Inside of IE. Once the file is open, none of the links either e-mail or web site works. However, if we open the same file Inside of Google Chrome, the links work. So, we want to know if we are missing something in IE or a plugin.
The PDF file opens with no problem but the links are not enabled. The file works in an Apple Machine and Google Chrome. However, if we download the file physically inside of the computer and then open the file with Adobe Reader, the links all work! Any ideas
how to solve this issue? Thanks Miguel Moreno

Without using any Nero or file burning software, can Windows XP itself supports simple file copying to disc. Not that I know of, but i have a user who can do these.

1. select a file, right click and press SEND TO the burner
2. simply copy and paste the file to the burner
3. reopen a file on a disc, edit it, and then can save it back onto the disc.

Strange, anyone welcome to comment. Thanks.

If you are on Windows 7 x64 sp1, just go here in regedit;

and export the services subfolder and paste it up in a reply!

All the headache from trying to fix this with solutions now, i think im missing some vital part and only the right registry files can fix.

SPDT.SYS used by daemon tools/alcohol and KeyMagic. Both.

Your computer was up for 2 plus days so it isnt happening frequently, and removing those two items may fix it.
Ken J

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

If you have a name brand computer (Dell, HP etc) go to the computer manufacturers Support/Download Drivers site and type in your Service Tag or Make and Model # and download the Network Adapter for your model. If you use Bit Defender AV:
Go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. In the Network Connections, Right click the Local Area Connection/Properties/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Use other IP address....uninstall the anti virus security NDIS (Antivirus) mini filter...etc...

I've recently built, delided and overclocked my first pc. Everything was running just fine, until recently, I found out that pressing restart inside the windows start menu will shutdown windows, but will always freeze when it starts up again on the spinning dots. It freezes even if I overclock by 100Mhz. It freezes when I manually set multiplier to 45 even though its a 4.5Ghz cpu. The pc starts up just fine, runs just fine, and shuts down just fine. This only happens when I use the restart option inside windows or when an update causes it to restart itself.

I have my cpu OCed to 4.9Ghz at 140mV offset LLC3. Under load it's doing 1.28v. Temps never hit over 79C in p95. My OC is stable for 10 Hours p95 blend, 11 hours p95 small FFT, and an overnight memtest86. It has never crashed on me inside of windows.

Googling tells me that the cpu can't handle the overclock, but I'm passing these stress tests with flying colors. Not only that, but manually setting the cpu to 4.5Ghz results in the same lockup when restarting inside windows. This doesn't happen when I set multiplier to 44 or below, or on stock settings. I've tried updating BIOS from 1.4 to 2.0. I've tried reseating the cpu. Nothing works. Most times, it would restart, and get stuck on the spinning dots and do nothing. Sometimes, it would BSOD after getting stuck on the spinnin... Read more

Answer:BSOD when I restart inside of windows

That would be something for an overclocking forum. I think u will get better help there. But I was interested and analysed for u.

These are the results:

But i cannot say if the driver crashes because of the overclocking or has another cause.

Last word from me: MSI Afterburner is known for causing bluescreens too.

I've got two Win10-64 boxes running 'Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 and the latest KB4056892 2018-01 cumulative update for windows 10 version 1709 x64-based systems.

With one box, I can right click on the latest firefox 64 bit exe installer and can 'scan with windows defender' and it will scan 598 files. On the other, the scan of the same file shows '1 files scanned'?

I just can't figure this out? How can I resolve this? It makes me question whether Windows defender is working at all?

Hi there!

I built this computer about three years ago (august 2009), and I don't remember when BSODs started. When they started, I didn't notice any regular pattern, but now I am suspecting it's something related to Internet Explorer and Windows Live Hotmail website.

Usually this pc is always on, and I'm used to let my browsers (and their tabs) open, always ready to navigate my fav websites.
If I let Windows Live Hotmail website opend for a while (few hours? a day?) in IE9, a BSOD appear when I click again on that tab.

OS info:
My OS is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1.
I assembled my PC in august 2009 (installing a full retail WinXP 64-bit), then I installed this OS in august 2010.

Hardware info:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz
ATI Sapphire VAPOR-X 4870 1GB GDDR5
Asus P6T SE
OCZ DDR3 6GB 1600Mhz Platinum Tri Channel

During blue screen, I read something related to atikmpag.sys.
I googled it and I follow instructions for updating/reinstalling video driver, but I never solved the problem.
Ps: sometimes, when BSOD happens, I get nervous and don't give system time to finish the dump... I don't know if this could be a useful info ^^

If you need any more details, please let me know!
I really appreciate your forum and the help you always give people.
Thank you!

Hello. You can see this thread to try to alleviate your problem. Stop overclocking if you are, for anything. Make sure you're running the latest video driver.

Update these drivers to the latest or uninstall them from the system if unimportant:

Hello, this morning I received a blue screen upon turning my PC on, this 'page fault in non paged area' happens during the windows loading screen so I'm unable to get into my PC to get any real information for you guys, I'll write down my PC specs and what I was doing on my PC yesterday that might've caused this, I hope it helps!

PC specs

Windows 7 64bit
Motherboard - Asus Z87-k
CPU - Intel i5-4670k ( I've tried booting in both the stock setting of the CPU and the oc'd setting, neither work
Graphics card - Nvidia 780gt 4gb
RAM - 8gb (2 sticks) DDR3 1600mhz corshair 9-9-9-24
SSD - Samsung 840 pro series 128gb (OS is on this)
HDD - Seagate barracuda 2tb
CPU cooler - Corsair h80
PSU - corsair 750w

Yesterday on my PC I installed the latest windows update and ran 2 games for the first time (apologies if this means nothing )

I had bsod issues in the past but they were due to an over clocked graphics card which has since been reset and I've been all clear since

The only other thing I can give you guys is a picture of the bsod that I took if that's of any use?

Thanks for reading this, I'd be very greatful for any help on this issue, I'm not too knowledgeable on PC's but I will do my best to give you more information if you need it, cheers guys!

EDIT - I ran windows startup repair and it said it couldn't fix my problem automatically

Answer:bsod happening during windows loading screen (more info inside)

Just a quick update, I triedbooting in safe mode and the bsod still happened

Any help would really be appreciated!

I've been backing up "My Documents" with CDBurnerXP because

1. I consider Windows Backups to be opaque and I prefer to keep them simple and to know what is going on
2. Windows Backups does some things I believe are risky so I will not use it
3. Windows 7 had a deep directory structure problem and I presume Windows 8 continues to
4. It's ridiculous to backup "Windows" when I really only care about the safety of my data and since I am a slow typist who can't type at 3 Gigahertz it seems unlikely that I will ever have produced enough data that won't fit in one piece of optical media
5. I prefer to use a backup medium that has no moving parts and no firmware and humidity and mechanical shock resistant and contains no software and nothing vendor specific and blank DVDs are one such medium
6. I don't understand how a "backup DVD" can get scratched if there are never children and animals in the building (movie DVDs are a different matter)

Unfortunately, I can't continue down this route because my Windows 8 is now inside VirtualBox and I can't seem to make CDBurnerXP and Windows 8 recognize a blank DVD as a suitable target for a backup.

I am looking for suggestions for DVD burning software that is free and is known through your personal experience to work inside VirtualBox.

Answer:can I burn a DVD from inside Windows 8 inside VirtualBox

I can't comment on VirtualBox, but the most popular free burning program is Imgburn. Although I have Nero burning software, I find the Imgburn to be easier to use for iso CD's and DVD's.

The Official ImgBurn Website

I also use Macrium for backing up my PC's, but I back up to separate hard drives, not DVD media. There is a free version of Macrium.

Hello,

So first of all, I am not a computer wizard. Some terms I might not understand as i've never had a problem like this before, but i'll try to enlist as much information as possible.

Since last friday or so, i've suddenly encountered a BSOD. Now, i've had them before and it was only once. After a reboot it usually never happend again and everything was cool. But since friday, they popped up again. Mainly during playing Battlefield 1, but i've also had it happen during Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2.

I've had multiple BSOD errors, which are:

- IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
- BAD POOL HEADER
- MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
- SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
- APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

Now if it were one, I might've been able to pinpoint the issue, but.. They're constantly different errors that happen. Now, to explain a bit more in detail how it goes:

So i'm just playing a match of Battlefield 1. After 10/15 minutes give or take, it'll bring me to the blue screen. After processing whatever it has to process, computer shuts down and it starts to restart. At this point it will be stuck in an infinite restart loop, where my monitor will not display anything as well. It just says it's not connected to something, which it clearly is. After manually closing and rebooting, i'll have to do this a few times or mess with the HDMI a little bit before I get my monitor to pop up again. Once that happens, I get stuck in the beginning screen where you can see your HDD/SSD installed. It won't go further than that unless I ... Read more

My question is a security question.
If someone has a file on his/her computer that contains personal/secure information, for example a text file that contains passwords and account numbers, or an audio recording of a conversation where account numbers and passwords were spoken out loud...  Is it possible for fragments of the secure file to end up getting stuck inside of another file or group of files on the same pc...making it possible for someone to reconstruct the secure file from the fragmented pieces and/or view its original contents?  Or could it be possible even for the entire secure file to somehow end up inside of another larger file on the same computer...making it easy for someone to view the secure information....(by the way I only used a text file or an audio file as an example...it could be any file containing secure data)...My simplified concern is this...If you have a file that contains information that you want to keep secure...is there anyway that pieces of this file, if not the whole file it self, could end up inside of another file or a group of files on the same computer that the file containing the secure information was created on?...thus making it a security risk to even share mp3s on a computer that ever had any secure information on it...since maybe there'd be a change ur credit card numbers and passwords might somehow end up in one of those mp3s that ur sharing in a peer to peer file sharing program online.....or do things not work like tha... Read more

Answer:Can a File somehow end up inside of another file/files

It all depends on the program you are using to access the files. For example, Windows (starting from XP) creates a hidden file thumbs.db that contains thumbnails of all the images inside a folder. If you delete the original pictures through some other program or command line, and do not open the folder in Windows Explorer, this file still stays there. If you share the folder, this file gets shared too. Your information gets leaked.

If you use a computer for banking online or shopping online (any kind of financial transaction), then do not ever use that computer for P2P file sharing.

I have received an mail that has a RAR attachment. The contents of the email are such that it can only have been written by someone who knows me, i.e. its not been generated automatically and the suggested contents could be useful to me. Unfortunately my reply to him bounced as his email company saw me as spam. Is there any way I can view the contents of a RAR file without actually opening it and possibly exposing my PC to some sort of nasty surprise?

Answer:Looking inside a RAR file

I wouldn't risk it.

Just a quick question, is there an application to sort through the contents of an .exe file? And will it just display coded gibberish? What sort of language are .exe files written in? Is is possible to edit .exe files? Sorry, questions, questions....Thanks ;)

Answer:How can I look 'inside' an .exe file??

I would think open with notepad or editor.

Hi,

I am setting up a backup system for my pc, backsup to a remote machine via ftp. The files to backup will be compressed into a zip file and then backed up to the remote machine. My question is, if my pc gets infected with a virus and those files backed up to the remote machine, will the virus infect the remote machine as well ? (if the files are not unzipped on the remote machine & both machines running on windows Xp pro). Appreciate any help or suggestions in this.

Regards
Sudhi

Answer:Virus inside a rar or zip file

No, malware inside a ZIP or RAR file can't infect a machine, unless you extract the malware (and execute it).

So in your case, the simple fact of storing a ZIP backup on a remote machine will not infect that remote machine.

That's why malware researchers share malware samples in password-protected ZIP files.

Hi i am using windows vista ultimate 32 bit and yesterday my computer went incredibly slow for seemingly no reason so i opened task manager and saw that my CPU usage was at 100%,after looking through the list of processes to see what was being such a resource wh0re, i couldn't see any processes that were using alot of cpu power so i downloaded "Process Explorer" and found that my problem was something called "Hardware Interrupts" which was (and still is) using 88-100% of my cpu how can i fix this problem? PLEASE help as i am completely stumped by this one.oh,and by the way,the 100% cpu usage is constant from the minute my PC is turned on,even with no apps running it stays at a constant 100%.

We are supporting business offices systems running Windows 7 SP1 in 64 bit. System RAM is 16GB and HD is 200GB.
In one of the partition (Drive F), a folder appeared (Aug 19, 2015), the folder name is 973d3e99d0b18144c2ffb4c55570d78a (we can change it to junk or some such). Inside it has a cabinet file called SFX.CAB created same date and file size is 0.
Can you please tell me what this is? and should we remove it?
Thank you

Major things happening the last few days. 1) insufferable amount of pop-ups (IE powered by Comcast) 2)over 100 shortcut messages (EXAMPLE: MORZE5.lnk refers to a location that is unavailable) at boot-up that have to be clicked through. I do see these on the HJT log and know you will know how to help. 3) Computer crashes, blue screen, white screen, you name it, several times a day.
What I did BEFORE I ran this log. I updated Adavare 6 and ran then deleted all it said, then ran spybot and that was all clear.

I got caught this morning. Hungover, tired, and just plain dumb.

"A friend" sent me a file. Supposedly some great an amazing pics of her new baby. On offer was a .zip file which I downloaded. Within there was a "picture" only it was xxx.jpg.xxx.com, so in fact it was really a .com file.

I ran this file (yes, I am dumb), and now my MSN sends out endless requests to other people to download these files from me which will infect them.

Perhaps my saving grace is that I use WinPatrol. When I ran this it detected changes to my registry startup areas which I told it to remove. Once I had rebooted I am no longer sending out nasty messages (so far, its hard to say exactly how often the messages are sent). However, the virus files are still on my machine in an unknown location.

I do still have the original infected file that I was sent which can be made available for analysis.

I am running XP Pro SP2, and use Eset NOD32 V3 with most recent updates. The bug went straight through this like a knife through butter. I have updated and recanned my machine both locally, and with Eset's online scanner. Nothing found. Eset misses the install files for the virus, and also the running virus (my friend's machine is still actively spamming the virus files out).

Hi tony82x,
Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm making a bug collection, so if you'd like to contribute, please attach a screen shot of the bugs with your next post. Then please continue as follows:

Go to the READ & RUN ME FIRST and work through all the instructions. If there is something you can't do, just make a note of what happens to tell us later and then continue on. When you're finished, use the Manage Attachments button down below the reply window to attach your logs. If you get all four logs, you'll need to post twice, because you can only attach three logs with each post.

Thanks.

I have a fairly large Fortran 77/90 & C program, compiled using Compaq Visual Fortran 6 & Microsoft Visual C++ 6 under Win XP.  On a particular test case it generally executes ok when invoked outside a batch file, but always fails when invoked from a particular batch file.  It stops on a Fortran 90 Allocate statement, but does not return the STAT result coded into that statement.  Seems to relate more to how much storage has been allocated rather than to the particular array being allocated, because I can reorder the allocation of different arrays and the stop does not occur on the same array.Although this is a large body of code, the test case is small and should not be requiring a large amount of allocated storage.I have tryed cutting the batch file down to just the statements that occur before invoking the EXE file (which are SET /P, ECHO, COPY, DEL, IF EXIST), then running the truncated batch file, then executing the EXE outside the batch file.  The EXE also fails in that usage.Any ideas on what I should be looking for to fix this?

Answer:Communicator Toolbar and More - hjt log file inside

Hi TimS -

If you had followed through on your last thread here we may have avoided another round of cleaning. Please see this through to the end, where you will be given valuable protection information once your system is clean.

I'm going to have you run some scanning tools first, then we'll go after whatever is left.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
*Note* For Ad-AwareSE also install the VX2 Addon Cleaner To run this tool ... Read more

Hello .
I cant access my system volume information file on my hard drive. Spyware doctor has located a trojan there and blocked it on several occasions but I cant access the file to delete it. It says that access is denied. What do I do.
thanks

Answer:Help, cant access file with trojan inside

If you can boot into Safe Mode try deleting the file there. Safe Mode has a limited amount of applications running which makes it ideal for purposes like this.

I've asked that a Moderator move this topic to the Am I Infected forum where there are those that are more knowledgeable about these problems.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.

I decided to finally purchase a new computer, but also installing my own GPU and PSU.

I got the computer itself in the mail, took it a part and everything worked fine. I installed my GPU drivers, and immediately got a BSOD.

Funny thing is, whenever I configure the BIOS to boot using the OnBoard graphics, it works fine. I then can disable my OnBoard graphics, then it will force the PC to use my Nvidia GTX 550 TI.

Yet when I configure the BIOS to start up with my PCI slot, it blue screens.

Any ideas? Ive tried to Re-Install windows, but it ends up doing the same thing. Thinking of just returning the PC all together since I have a 1 year warranty

Answer:BSOD with GPU inside PCI slot

Hi

Can you please post the exact make and model number of your motherboard, graphic card and RAM ? .

Did you tried the latest Nvidia driver instead of the default one came with the card ?

Question: BSOD files inside

Hi there,

I've been experiencing a lot of BSOD since purchasing my new laptop.
I thought i fixed the problem with a fresh instal, but it's happening again.

Whenever i run verifier.exe, it causes a blue screen. I removed both sticks of ram separately, and still had the problem. I'm currently running in safe mode /networking, as that's the only way it will start without immediately going into blue screen (i believe verifier is still making this happen after a restart)

Here's the error report -

currently, I'm using CA Security suite, I'm wondering if I can use the anti-virus to scan the inside of a RAR file, which composed of dozens of files, and confirm if there is a virus inside the packed rar file or not

Answer:Can anti-virus scan the inside of a RAR or zip file?

NOD32 does... perhaps the CA cra--- uhmmm... product has an option to scan inside archives that needs to be enabled (seems like it should be on by default; it is with NOD32).

For those of you who have been complaining about the perceived slowness of Vista file copy operations (And <insert deity name here> knows ther have been many), I now present to you a copy of Mark Russinovich's blog dated 4 February 2008.

In his blog, he provides in-depth details of how the copy engine works, and what improvments have been made to this engine in Vista SP1.

Happy reading!

----------------------
The original text for this post can be read in Mark Russinovich's blog at http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/
----------------------

Windows Vista SP1 includes a number of enhancements over the original Vista release in the areas of application compatibility, device support, power management, security and reliability. You can see a detailed list of the changes in the Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 whitepaper that you can download here. One of the improvements highlighted in the document is the increased performance of file copying for multiple scenarios, including local copies on the same disk, copying files from remote non-Windows Vista systems, and copying files between SP1 systems. How were these gains achieved? The answer is a complex one and lies in the changes to the file copy engine between Windows XP and Vista and further changes in SP1. Everyone copies files, so I thought it would be worth taking a break from the ?Case of?? posts and dive deep into the evolution of the copy engine to show how SP1 improves its performance.

I downloaded the article by microsoft about all the inprovements. Too many Kxxx articles to go into. Needless to say there is alot. Waiting for the final release before upgrading.

I'm having problems with my iframe when viewing in IE (version 6)

The problem has to do with the URL/src of the iframe:

I can view this URL in IE with no probs but when I try to view it within an iframe it won't stop reloading.. about every 2 seconds. It works fine in Firefox.

To see the problem in action you can check this link:

I recently downloaded starry night which is a program that you can use to look at space features and stuff, but I had to uninstall it becuase it was taking up to much space on my computer, well now I can't delete the sucker and I'm constantly barraged by "this program is being used by another person or program", so I unistalled those programs and yet it still wants to stay, what do I do?

Answer:Certain file inside a program can't be deleted.. no matter what I do..

Before you delete anything else that you might actually want, try a system restore to before you had starry night installed.

If this does not help then post details of your system, the files you want to eliminate and the exact error messages.

Hello,
I have a couple of computers set up in the network. They're all inside the same workgroup.
Every folder I share is visible by everyone.
Now I want to define permissions on only one folder which containes files only to be editable (modified) by, let say, one computer.
So I need to define special peermissions for this particular folder.
However I came accros to a problem. In network neighbourhood I can see all computers and their share folder and they see my shared files. But when I want to define special permissions on only one folder (one user can write and read, the rest is read only access), I cannot see other computers in the "Select user or groups" window just as shown in the attached picture.

One friend of mine told me that this is only possible when computers are on domain. It is really hard for me to understand that permissions cannot be defined for each folder and for each network user separately.

Can you give me any advice?

Thanks

Answer:File and folder permissions inside workgroup

Permissions are configured for local users on the machine, not network users or machines.

Hello,

A little background:

Around a year ago I had signed up for Private Internet Access, which installs the TAP9 driver (OpenVPN I believe). I started to get blue screens on my machine (Win7 Ultimate x64), so I installed it on a 2nd Windows machine (identical OS). Same thing. As soon as I started the VPN, blue screen. I installed VirtualBox VM software, same thing on both machines. After trying various things, I ended up sending the motherboard back to ASRock (It was a Z87 Professional). They found nothing wrong, but I ended up doing a fresh install of Win7 and everything was great for about a year. Then I started having machine lockups and found out that my SSDs (Samsung 840 EVOs) were victim to the slowdowns that a lot of people were complaining about. I tried upgrading the firmware and running their "fix", then the blue screens started to happen again, this time at random times. Removed the drives, did a fresh install onto some WD Black drives, and everything was working fine. I thought the motherboard had finally crapped out as even with the onboard LAN ports, the network icon would end up with a yellow exclamation mark after about 5 minutes of usage. I had to use an add-on card to get it to work, so I decided to just build a pretty much brand new system.

I just built it today:
ASRock Extreme6/ac / Intel i7-5930K (brand new)
32Gb G.skill DDR4 (new)
Samsung 850 Pro (apparently these drives did not have the same problems as the 840s) (new) ... Read more

The Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following:
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

nVidia High Definition Audio and Cisco VPN are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Please enable these programs/devices, update their drivers, and then (if so desired) re-disable them again.

EVGA Precision (along with Riva Tuner and MSI Afterburner) are known to cause BSOD's in Win7 systems. Please uninstall this application immediately.

Your Abit uGuru drivers date from 2006. They must be updated or removed from your system.

Your nVidia System Utility Driver (nvoclk64.sys) dates from 2007. It must also be updated or removed from your system.

If you are overclocking, please stop while we're troubleshooting. Once we're finished and your system is stable, feel free to resume the overclock. The memory dump shows a small overclock (48 mHz).

There are 2 dumps in the upload, one naming atikmdag.sys(video driver) the second
casino.exe which probably is video related.

2 dumps naming different process on a new install is usually hardware related, any chance you have another video card to test with?

We should probably also take a look at the temps and volts on the system. D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

How do I make Windows 7 search inside of file contents on a removable device?

I have a flash drive with a few hundred spreadsheets on it, in .xls format. I need to search for words that are located inside of the spreadsheets. How do I do that?

Note: I have set my indexing options to search the contents of .xls files - this flash drive is probably not indexed, as it is only occasionally plugged into this machine. I am looking for a way to make Win7 search inside of files without having to index the thing.

Answer:How to search inside file contents on removable device?

Hello Dizzious, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but you will not be able to add removable locations to be included in the index anyway.

An alternative, is to select the flash drive in Computer or Windows Explorer, and search it from there instead.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Just upgraded to Windows 8 and I'm having an issue I never had in Windows 7. Whenever somebody sends me an archive (.zip, .rar, etc.) that contains file names that are in Japanese, they always appear garbled (文字化け).

1. I am using Outlook 2010
2. This happens through both WinRAR and Windows' native unarchiving program.
3. The file name of the archive itself (also in Japanese) is not garbled, just the file names inside.
4. I have the Japanese language pack (Windows IME) installed on top of this U.S. version of Windows 8, but setting Japanese language priority higher than English (through Control Panel/language) does not fix the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might fix this issue, as right now I have to boot back into Windows 7 to unzip any Japanese archive.

Hi everyone,Here's something I was wondering. I have a VB application how's calling another application. This second application is a commandline software that use a password as parameter.my code looks like that:Public const MYPASSWORD ="ThisIsMyPassword12345"

dim result as integer

result =  Shell("C:\Application2.exe " & MYPASSWORD , vbHide)I was asking myself if it was secure to store a password as a constant inside an application.Once the code is compile and transform to binary format, is it possible that a hacker retreive this password with some kind of password recovery tool.Thanks. Fred

Answer:Is it safe to store passwords inside binary file?

Yes if you have the password stored in a file, then it would be possible to reverse engineer that file and gain the password.

I have a Gateway DX4710-UB301A, with an AMD Radeon HD 6600 series and Windows 7 Professional. It randomly blue screens, no matter what I'm doing at the time. The error codes are in the attached picture. Also I don't know if it's related, but I have 6 GBs of ram installed (two 2gbs,and two 1gbs), but the system settings AND the BIOS say that it only has 4gbs, and I ran the diagnostic and it didn't detect any problems.

Answer:Random BSOD on computer(errors inside)

Hi and welcome to TSF!

So many different crashcodes usuall indicates a ram / memory issue.
Also, some systems / mobos do not seem to handle mixing different types of RAM sticks well.

Please as a test, take out the two 1GB sticks. See if it runs more stable. Also for more specific help, please upload full info as described here:

PC Specs:

AMD Athlon FX-55
Asus A8V-Deluxe motherboard
Graphics Card(s): GeForce 6800GT (also tried Radeon 9800 Pro)
RAM: 2GB Kingston in 4x KVR400X64C3A/512 modules
HDD's: 2x WD Caviar 250GB 7200 RPM models (and an older WD IDE model) in a RAID0 configuration using the Promise FastTrack 378 controller.
Windows XP x64 Edition
PSU: CoolerMaster Real Power RS-450-ACLY ATX12V 450W

I use the onboard soundcard, and have no PCI cards installed.

For starters: I built this machine about two and a half years ago, and it has been rock solid for the last two and a half years up until about a week ago.

Here's my issue: I started getting various crashes, everything from DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL to NTFS.sys or fasttx2k.sys (the onboard RAID controller of my motherboard's driver) to no BSOD and just random reboots.

I've got a fair bit of PC building experience and extra hardware laying around, so I decided to troubleshoot the problem for a bit myself before asking for help. I've cleaned all the parts with compressed air, and all the contacts of the RAM cards and my video card, but still no luck, the system still crashed.

I started by running memtest for a night, and it got through 8 passes on all 2GB of RAM with no errors. Kingston is usually quality RAM, so I didn't really think this was the problem.

Then, I unplugged my HDD's from the RAID controller, and stuck in an old IDE HDD I had laying around and formatted it to a new ... Read more

Okay, this is what I found:

Your first two Minis point to driver fault with tcpip.sys which is a file essential for a Windows based machine machine to use tcp/ip protocols (use Networking or the Internet).

There was also this warning that ntoskrnl.exe was unabled to be verified by checksum; therfore there is the possibility it could be either corrupted or missing.

* Microsoft has information on errors with tcpip.sys

Third Minidump - amdk8.sys which is an AMD Processor Driver required by motherboards supporting AMD Athlon processors.

In all three minies you will find them pointing to either X64_0xD1 errors (the first two) or X64_IP_MISALINGED (third one).

I know you did a fresh reinstall of XP, but the dumps are pointing to faulty drivers as the issues. Could it be your CPU???

By the way, I know several people who have the same motherboard and they all say the same thing, "Rock Solid."

Tech guy at work suspected the video card. We replaced it with a new one and it still BSOD'ed

Initially when I am about to BSOD my display's will turn off. This is why we replaced the video card. Sometimes they come back on and I can proceed as normal, however when the audio cuts out I know it will then BSOD.

Once the audio cuts out or freezes on a note the BSOD will occur in about 10-seconds.

Thanks in advance dear gurus for all your help and consideration.

Answer:BSOD - Crashes randomly about once per day.. details inside

Security Software: ??? Make sure to install security software. I recommend either of these:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Good and Free system security combination.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.
Crashes are DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.
Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Uninstall a program

Hello, I've bought a new computer and I've playing battlefield 3 and I've been getting bluescreens at random intervals, 5 minutes into the game this morning, yesterday I played for hours without one. I've had 4 in total over the course of 6 hours playing. I've attached the files that were requested in the sticky & also my minidumps.

My windows is 64 bit, retail, just got installed this week, my hardware is all new, it got tested at the pc shop for over 24 hours under heavy load with no issues, so this is a bit worrying =(

I managed to keep 2 of the 4 bluescreen extra info -

I'm sorry to bother you helpful people, but it seems that my Laptop (Asus X550L, Win 8.1) has been having random BSODs regardless of what I am doing. Hopefully I'll manage to upload the dump correctly :P
