Preferred Solution: Windows 10 keeps putting Torrex Pro into suspended mode and stops downloads. why? what can I do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just bought Lenovo notebook with Windows 10 Home.

On my old VISTA laptop, when I put my computer in sleep mode and then woke it up, I could always view my connected MP3 player and its files.

When I do the same with my new notebook, I have to unplug and re-plug the usb connector in order to view the mp3 files.

I tried fixing by going into device manager, power management for the USB hubs, and unchecking the "allow this computer to turn off..." setting.

I alsodisabled this:
I appreciate help, thanks

Answer:Putting computer in sleep mode stops viewing my connected mp3 player

If you disable USB Selective Suspending and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', your MP3 shouldn't have any problems. Perhaps double check witch device you unchecked.

We religiously track Windows Application fault events in our environment.

Recently we have noticed that when, Word 2013 x86 version (15.0.4823.1000, 15.0.4805.1001) running on Windows 8.1 x64,  crashes due to corrupted heap, we find suspended winword process that have no running threads.  the ccorrupt heap crashes are of
the type  exception c0000374 in Ntdll.dll at offset 0x000e6054.  We have two different situations in which we can trigger a crash that will produce the corrupted heap.

The problem is after the App crash the Windows Error Reporting service, attaches the WerFault.exe to the crashed process and saves the WER Dump file.  The problem is after this process is finished we are left with Winword.exe process that are in suspended
state.  They are not visible in the TaskManager but they show-up in Procexp,  these process have no running threads and the End task or end task tree have no impact.  The only way to exit the suspended process is to log off the user session.

The suspended Winword.exe process cause problems when we re-launch a clean word, we have an add-in that detect's the suspended Winword and will not run.

On a test machine we disabled the WER service and of course we no longer see suspended threads, this is not an option for use because stopping the WER service stops logging of all Application Fault event ID 1000 and Application hang 1001 entries from the Application
log.

Answer:i need help from somebody, regarding putting windows xp (2005) in MS-DOS mode

Windows XP doesn't use DOS.If you want a fresh start, you have two options:1. Use Windows XP CD for clean install2. Use Recovery CD to bring the computer to its original state.NOTE. In both cases, all personal data, and installed programs will be lost.

I just got a brand new laptop with Windows Hello. It's very useful for logging in, but my laptop now goes to sleep every time I leave my desk. The red light next to the infrared camera blinks often when I'm using my laptop (which is also pretty annoying), and then if I get up, even for a few minutes (to grab a snack, notebook, etc.) my laptop goes to sleep. I'm pretty computer illiterate, but I suspect that the camera is still looking for me while I'm using my computer and then decides my laptop needs to sleep when it doesn't see my face anymore. Is there any way to change this? I like not having to use a password, but the red light and going to sleep is annoying, especially since I tend to get up from my desk a lot just to stretch. It also seems like having the camera on all the time would drain the battery pretty quickly. Am I way off base here?

I cleaned an AVscan-infected Dell using MBAM. I was able to boot into safe mode, in which I ran both MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware and cleaned out the infection.

The problem is that now I cannot access the internet from this machine. Safari returns its standard page not found errors. I tried ping as well, and I cannot get a response to pings of sites. This happens in both safe mode and normal mode.

I went to the Control Panel - Networking and did a "Repair" on the wireless connection. No change in the result.

I checked on System Restore while I was there - and the restore is listed as being in "Suspend" mode although there is 66GB out of 100GB free on the hard disk.

I followed a link from another post here to something call win sock fix, but when I downloaded it Windows warned that the file contained something dangerous so I have not yet tried that over on the laptop in question.
How do I re-enable the system restore modes, and how do I repair the networking issue?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:post-cleanup, cannot access internet, restore mode suspended

Found it.
They had added a proxy server flag, with no proxy address provided. In Safari, Tools - Preferences - Advanced - Change Settings - LAN settings - unclick Use a proxy.

Any ideas on the System Restore fix?

My computer is a laptop Toshiba computer. I was working as normal and I do remember I disconnected my USB for my mouse before trying to shut down the computer. I went to the start button to log off as I normally do, and the start window totally froze and would not let me log off as normal. I became suspicious that this may be a virus attack so I shut down immediately. So I tried to reboot, but I have been totally unsuccessful.
As I try to restart the computer, it gives me the option to "repair" and I have tried to do that, but the "windows loading files" bar that appears loads about halfway, then it comes to a total halt. I'm given an unexpected I/O error and the letters are "OXC00000e9"
The next window that appears says "Windows encountered a problem communicating with the device connected to your computer (Which currently I do not have anything connected) caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as external USB drive while device in use or by faulty hardware such as hard drive or CD ROM drive that is failing." At the top of this message the page reads "Windows Boot Manager"
I have tried to reboot using F7 but no help, I tried safe mode and safe mode with networking.
I don't have reboot disks.
Is there anyone that can please help me?
I would gladly pay if you can direct me on how to resolve this or what I can do to rescue my files.

Trying to put my parents' PC into Standby mode but the only thing that was closing down was the monitor. What am I doing wrong? Is it okay to leave the PC on Standby all day and then turn off the PC at night?Could someone please tell me the difference between Standby and Hibernate - in very simple terms - and how do you set it up to Hibernaye?

Answer:Putting PC Into Standby Mode

Standby continues to supply power to RAM and certain other system components with the aim of keeping your Windows session in memory. It powers up quickly.Hibernation saves the contents of RAM to a portion of the HDD with some appended data, then shuts down everything completely. To all intents and purposes, it is the same as a shutdown, bar the fact that Windows cannot perform the tasks that it normally performs at shutdown. It boots up quite quickly.

This week, I encountered the following strange problem for which I haven't found a final solution so far, though I have found some bandaids. But having a complete solution -or at least a reason why this problem occurs- would be great:
I have a working installation of Windows 7 Professional x64 in UEFI mode. The main disk, SSD #1, contains the following partitions (using GPT): ESP, MSR, system, data. An additional disk, HD #2, with a single data partition (using MBR) is also attached to the system. With this setup, everything works fine.
Now, after adding another disk, HD #3, to the system -my old system disk (bootable, using MBR, one active primary partition and an extend partition with three logical disks)- Windows will no longer boots completely: The boot process begins, the Windows logo is shown. Then, a message is shown in text mode "Windows is loading files" with a loading bar. After a while the boot process stops and I am dropped into the EFI shell. After removing the offending HD #3, Windows boots normally again.

I tried removing HD #2 and only attaching HD #3 together with SSD #1, but this yielded the same problem. Using SSD #1 by itself works fine though. Booting from a Linux live-cd works without problems. All disks and partitions are found and can be mounted. There, I erased the disk signature from the offending HD #3 and now Windows was able to boot and also found all disks and partitions correctly. But after a reboot the same problem reappeared.

My ... Read more

I recently purchased a Sony Bravia XBR55X900E tv and I connect my pc to it via HDMI.  Here's is my setup:

Dell XPS 8700 connects to HDMI 2 on Sony TV.
My TV receiver connects to HDMI 1 on Sony TV.
My Sony AVR connects to HDMI 3 on Sony TV, strictly for audio purposes (ARC).
Logitech Harmony one universal remote.

My issue is this:  Whenever I switch between activites (example PC to watching TV), after the TV switches to HDMI 1 from HDMI 2, this puts my Dell into sleep / standby mode.  If I press the power button, it lights up like normal.  If I go back to the PC activity, again once the TV switches from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, the computer again goes into this "sleep" mode and I again have to press the power button to take it out of it.
All of my pc settings are set to NEVER with respect to monitor or PC going to sleep / standby mode.  Prior to this TV I had my pc connected to an older plasma TV and this never happened.
I contacted Sony to see if it something with their Bravia sync but the person said that everything looked good from the TV's end.
I'm hoping that someone has come across this and can steer me in the right direction as it is really frustrating and I don't know what else to try.

I am using Windows XP home edition with SP3. It was working normally. I used to get a popup "Windows cannot find "syssetup.exe"....When i opened yesterday morning I found it taking longer and never go to the desktop after giving the username and password. It stops at Welcome screen with a msg "Loading your personal settings" and no more response. I followed below steps to trouble shoot the issue.

1.I have tried opening in both "safemode" and "safemode with networking", found its working fine. I ran "msconfig" in safemode and unchecked some unwanted applications(nothing related to windows process) and tried again opening in normal mode.... Not worked

2. My internet works normally in safemode. Found some virus by running antivirus in safemode and cleared all the viruses.

It would be really appreciable if any one could solve my issue..

I've noticed a strange issue with Vista 64 in that I can be downloading a file and then inexplicably it will stop and not resume. At first I thought it was just my connection, but it turned out that both IE and FF are acting the same way regardless of the website. If I did the same download on another machine using XP or 2K, it would download from start to finish. On this very same machine, in XP, downloads have no issue, but as soon as I'm in Vista, I will have a hard time doing a large file download...

anyone else notice this issue?

Well, Im addicted to Azureus and fan subbed anime. So, Im always downloading and uploading a lot.

My problem is that after a while ( a few hours ) of solid downloading/uploading, the internet will completely cease to work on this computer. I have to reboot it. The other computer that is on the same router, still gets onto the net fine.

I have a Intel Pro 1000 CT integrated network card on my Abit IC7-G with the newest drivers. Is there something I can configure differently to prevent this from happening? I hate leaving downloads/uploads over night to find that 3 hours into them, they just quit working.

Hello all, i just moved to a a new place, there are 5 people sharing this place (not sure what it's called in english).

Ever since i set my desktop up here i've been having an issue downloading .. anything. I can download torrents just fine, without issues. However - when there's a launcher or anything like it (Ex: Video game launchers/downloads) my downloads will stop randomly, by that i mean the download speed will completely drop after about 3-10 seconds, sometimes i get lucky and the download keeps going for a couple of minutes, making it completely random. This also happens in my internet browser(s). I am at the end of my wits when it comes to this.

I'm particularly good at networking thus i come here, i am good at following directions.

In detail, this is what happens: I press download, it starts downloading, after a couple of seconds the download will completely stop progressing and the timer keeps going up until it just tells me to wait for an eternity. This issue does NOT occur when i'm downloading torrents but does happen whenever i try downloading games or anything large from my browser. The downloads ALWAYS work in the beginning but after a while they'll just die (unless i'm torrenting).

I have no issues streaming streams or watching youtube or anything like that.

I live with 5 other people, as stated above. I'm not sure that has any impact on this issue.

I literally reinstalled my windows 10 minutes ago, which did not work. Which should eliminate the p... Read more

I've just started experiencing a problem with downloads lately. This has been covered in other posts but no answer.

The problem started yesterday with my downloads. I try to download something from www.nationalcountdownshow.com (One of their radio shows) and the download stopped at approximately 10meg of the 136meg file. Thought it was their site so I went to another site (4shared.com to download a large file there) and the same thing happened this time it stopped at 20meg of 150 meg file. Thought then that it was my browser. Tried IE, FIREFOX and Chrome at both sites with no avail. Tried a download manager (DownThemAll!) and the problem persists.

Thought then that maybe a virus got in. Cleaned the drive first with CCLeaner then did a scan with SUPERAnitspyware and Malwarebyts Anit-Malware. Still no resolve.

Tried rebooting the computer and still same problem persists. Small files work fine but large files just stop and do nothing.

I'm currently using Windows XP with all latest updates. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

I have an annoying problem, windows loads normally up to when the desktop picture appears, then it hangs for probably a minute (you cannot do anything with the mouse although it moves around) then it resumes loading as normal and runs normally.

I suspect it's some sort of indexing or windows is looking for something, how can I find out which program or process is holding things up?

thanks

use msconfig from the run command and try turn one thing off at once and reboot till you find the one that causes the hang.
dont forgot to reenable each one after the reboot.

As per the instructions here I am attaching the required zip file. I get BSOD every 5 mins running Torrex for win 10. I contacted Torrex support and they sent me a beta version but without success on an HP laptop. With a Lenovo Torrex runs without any problems. I had the HP reformatted twice to factory settings by a technician but no resolution. I updated all drivers still no resolution.

Answer:BSOD with Torrex on one laptop but not another. Both running win 10

I received an Arris TG862 modem from Time Warner Cable quite some time ago and have generally avoided it until now. I had always assumed that the TG862 was already in bridge mode and that I was only using my NetGear R6300 router for wireless, firewall etc. Recently, I was trying to open ports through my R6300, but no matter what they would always remain closed.

Sometime later, I realized that my Arris modem was most likely to blame, so I turned off both its firewall and wireless and switched it over to bridge mode. After restarting the modem, I am unable to connect to the internet. I can still connect to both my router and my modem's login page via the cord that goes from my modem -> router -> computer, but my router is not getting anything. I tried restarting my router as well, but that does not seem to help my situation. In my router's login page, it clearly tells me that the router is receiving no internet from the modem.

For now, I've factory reset'd the modem and the internet connection is fine but I still need to put the modem in bridge mode.

Thanks!

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

Answer:I downloaded a Torrent client (torrex), now why can't I uninstall it?

Ah that problem exists on RT too, such a stupid problem that can't happen except on a stupid OS, this problem drove me nuts on Windows 8, I remember that I had to reboot to fix it, my guess you already did.

recently i costom built my computer around the time vista was released, its been working smothly on my comp untill a weeek ago it all went wrong and crashed, to be on the safe side i rebooted in safe mode, after then again reboooting it and putting all my settings back to the way they where i thought that it was all over untill recently i noticed little thigs like video's on u tube or any other site not working, aswell as sertain links on a page would not open. this personaly has confussed me! im kinda stuck on how to get it to go back to wat it used to be like before i went into safe mode, please help me!!!!!!!!!!

thanx!!!! yours greatfully Elan2jay!!

Answer:after putting vista into safe mode it will no longer opn java script or flash players

Unless you actually made some changes to the configuration, things should have returned to normal once you rebooted from Safe Mode.

Vista's "System Restore" would probably be the quickest fix for this and you will lose nothing by doing it.

However if you are using Internet Explorer, you might want to go to Tools > Add-Ons and make sure that all the Adobe Flash stuff there is present and enabled.

Also in Internet Options > Security Settings > Custom you can reset all settings there to their defaults.

Finally if you are using a 3rd party firewall -- some of these scripts can be blocked by their configurations.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my Windows 8.1 that the computer always crash after I want to resume to my suspended activity. I've read in other places that the issue was the Hybrid Shutdown. Well, for some reason, my computer does not have this option, but I was able to disable it via regedit.exe and cmd.exe.

By other people complaints, this issue happened just after they upgraded to Windows 8.1, when for me, it happened in the last update (I was already using Windows 8.1 and my computer was suspending it just fine).

I use suspend on my computer for fast loading time, instead of powering on and off. I was doing this for forty (40) days, before I decided to restart to make some updates (The Windows Update was realized between 12/31/2014 and 01/01/2015):

The latest updates were:

So, as the title suggests, I was wondering if there was a way to make sleep mode not terminate(For lack of a better word) my network, as I'd love to download things overnight but... I have my sleep mode set to Never in the control panel though, but I use it occasionally through my keyboard(The moon key is a shortcut for Sleep).

Any way to allow sleep mode to not disable downloads?
Or... Is there a way to have a low power computer(I'd like the monitor to be off), but be able to finish downloading?

Answer:Any way to allow downloads while in sleep mode?

Hi Metamence,

Check out the following tutorial and see if it helps - it includes ways to enable or disable devices to awaken a computer from sleep mode: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems.

Here's a tutorial on how to awaken a PC to perform a task scheduled in task scheduler: Task Scheduler - Wake Up Computer.

Here's a tutorial on how to change the return to sleep mode time for unattended tasks that awaken a PC from sleep mode: Sleep Return Timeout for Unattended Wake Up.

I'm not certain how to prevent the display from activating when the computer awakens from sleep mode along with everything else. I'm not entirely sure that's possible - though perhaps I simply don't know how to do it.

The solution for "turning off" the display only during a download (assuming it is a laptop and you can't just turn off the monitor by pushing the power button) is to create an icon to activate the screensaver upon pushing it and set the screensaver to blank Create Icons to Start the Screensaver on Windows 7 or Vista - How-To Geek - though not officially turned off it will use minimal power and will also be totally dark as if it were off. Alternatively, you could try the solution in the following article which actually creates an icon to shutoff the display using 3rd party software: Create a Shortcut or Hotkey to Turn Off the Monitor - How-To Geek. I do not know how you activate the monitor if you want to see it if it is shutdown using this method, but presumably the sofwar... Read more

I recently purchase a program and, before I can run it, I'm having to download a required patch from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it's a gigantic file (over 2GB) and will require several hours even on a broadband connection.

Trouble is, if I let something download and I walk away and do other things, after a few minutes Windows Vista will automatically put the computer in a stand by or sleep mode, whichever one it is. If I return to the computer and move the mouse, the computer will wake up, but the download is interrupted. So, for instance, I can't let the download begin processing in the morning before leaving work because, halfway down the road, the download will be interrupted by sleep mode and when I eventually return home, I'll have to start over again from square one.

Is there ANY way to avoid this? Or am I basically required to be in front of the computer during the whole download duration?

Vista wont boot in normal or safe mode

I have tried numerous Startup Repairs

I have noticed that in trying Safe Mode, it stops on the line (10 down from the top) that says ci.dll, and then goes straight into Startup Repair

I have taken the drive out and checked to see if my files are on there and they are

Any help appreciated !

Answer:Safe Mode Stops on Ci.dll - Won't Boot

Do you have your original Windows CD? Boot from the CD if you do and when you get to the screen that asks if you want install or repair your system, select REPAIR. It should open a command prompt window. If it asks you for the Administrator password, just press Enter because it won't have one unless you set it upon installation of the OS.

Once that window opens, type CHKDSK C: /F /R and let it run. Once it's complete you can type EXIT and try and boot again.

Let me know how that works for you.

Good day!

I took my daughter's 10 year old compaq persario 2100 with a failing HDD and I am making into a chart plotter for my boat. I replaced the HDD with a new one and Installed XP Pro SP3. I downloaded Open C, a free GPS positioning and chart reader, an anti-virus, adobe reader (to read the manual) Foobar 2000 to play some tunes and some raster charts from NOAA. That is all that is on the HDD. I bought a hockey puke GPS receiver that plugs into the UBS. Two weeks ago I had the laptop on and was working and the chart plotter was doing everything as planned. I shut it down as usual. Today I tried to boot up and I get the opening windows screen and then nothing. I tried safe mod a de it stops cold at:

I am having an issue with my computer since I updated my iTunes and QuickTime and now anytime I try to open or run a program, it pulls up "view downloads" page and asks if I want to run or save the file. Neither option works as it simply re-opens another "view downloads" page and won't allow anything to run. I am operating in Safe Mode but same issue arises. See attached picture as anything I try to open goes to this page and keeps adding the same item over and over if you try to click run or save.
Can you steer me in the right direction?

I'm not sure how this happened, or just what the proper vocabulary really is, but here's my problem.

I very carefully direct and downloaded files to a subfolder (DownloadsTempMD) under My Documents on a Data drive.

I'd really very much prefer to be able to sort downloaded files by name, date, the usual Details format.

For some reason Windows 7 Professional x64 has elected to conclude that anything I download must be for my entertainment, ergo it must be sorted by Title, Contributing Artists, Album. This may be a great boon to some, but it is a PITA to me. If I've downloaded an installation file, I want the most recent file at the top of the display where I can find it.

Is there a way to turn off this 'feature' that reminds my way too much of 'Clippy.'

thanks

So I got a nice, big 26" monitor to serve double as a TV while I'm doing schoolwork at my desk.

The problem is, when I blow images up all the way, the tracks seem to separate. Video will eventually lag behind, or even freeze up and then fast forward to catch up, etc. It's distracting.

When I blow up video like this, I expect to see some some bars (depending on wide screen or not, native resolution, etc), plus a loss in overall quality and clarity but this seems odd to me.

Hardware: 260gtx (216), q6600, 4gb DDR2, 7200rpm HD with 16 or 32mb cache, and a 26" Planar with native resolution of 1920x1200 and a 60hz refresh rate.

Software: It's happened in every media player I've used, from WinAmp and WMP to Nero.

Examples:
Downloaded episodes of Dexter are 608x336, at 128kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
Downloaded episodes of Heroes are 608x352, at 128kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
Widescreen movies like 1408 come at 652x266, at 112kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
When I fire it up, everything runs fine for awhile until, eventually, the above problems start to creep in. Distracting any time I want to swap to full screen and watch from across the room.

I start my computer in safe mode, and it always stops/hangs on ispnp.sys. I connected the hard drive to my other computer, and replaced that file, and also the one that comes after it, pciide.sys, (the modified date and time matched the date of the old sys), and it still hangs on ispnp.sys. I have some pictures and other things I do not want to lose. When I copied the 2 sys files, I used a connector cable, and I also tried to copy all my pictures and everything but it will not let me access my Documents and desktop because I had a password on the old computer; maybe some of you know how to bypass that? I don't know how I could put in the password, which I have not forgotten.

What does BSOD say?If you have Windows CD...(if you don't have Windows CD, scroll down)1. Insert your Windows XP CD into your CD and assure that your CD-ROM drive is capable of booting the CD.2. Once you have booted from CD, do NOT select the option that states: Press F2 to initiate the Automated System Recovery (ASR) tool. After you have selected the appropriate option from step two, you will be prompted to select a valid Windows installation (typically number 1). Select the installation number, and hit Enter. If there is an administrator password for the administrator account, enter it and hit Enter (if asked for the password, and you don't know it, you're out of luck). You will be greeted with this screen, which indicates a recovery console at the ready:4. There are eight commands you must enter in sequence to repair your problem.. NOTE. Hey everyone. Recently my computer crashed and when I was trying to start it up again on Safe Mode to fix it, it just hangs on crcdisk.sys. When I try to load it "normally" it justs stops at the loading bar and doesn't load from there. I heard the only way to fix this is to just re-install Vista again. Now before I do this, I'm using a partition to back-up my hard drive onto another external hard drive as I don't want it to wipe out while I re-install Vista. I was wondering if there was any way I could re-install Vista without the cd? I was also wondering what re-isntalling Vista meant because I know there is a difference between setting your computer to factory settings and just re-installing Vista. I have a Sony Vaio NR430e running on a 32-bit system. Thanks!

So again I have to unplug hub and plug it back in again to get it to function. Also no usb device (keyboard/mouse) plugged into hub can wake laptop from hibernation. I've tried two hubs from two different manufacturer now and they both do the same thing. Laptop drivers are all updated. I tried another post asking if there are any hubs I can buy that doesn't exibit this flaw and got nothing so I assume this is the default behaivor. Is there anyway for me to get a working USB-C hub that doesn't require unplugging and plugging back in cables all day?

Hello everyone, I just purchased a new Dell Inspirion laptop about a week ago. Right out of the box it connected to wifi with no problems. I noticed the second day however that sometimes after it was in sleepmode(lid shut) it sometimes cannot connect to my router until I shut my computer down completely and restart. It can see the router, but it is unable to connect completely. I don't think it is the wifi card because the drivers are up to date and I can connect to an unsecured router in the area with no problems. It almost always works after a complete shutdown.

If anyone has some info or things to try it would be very appreciated.

Specs: Dell Inspirion
Windows 7 64 bit
DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card
4 gig ram
280gb HD

Answer:Wifi stops working after sleep mode or hibernate.

Go into Device Manager. Go to your wireless adapter, properties, Power Management, unclick "Allow the computer to..."

If that doesn't work, I'll try something else.

Hi, I'm having an extremely annoying problem with Google Chrome. I am trying to download large files which are taking about 3-8 hours to download. I don't have that much time, so I have to put my computer into sleep mode. Now, the problem is, I put it into sleep mode, turn it back on, Chrome says the downloads are finished. I open one of them, and it says the file is corrupt. What can be done to fix this?

Answer:Chrome stops downloading when computer is in sleep mode

Hello! I have been experiencing a problem for a few months where every once in a while, I will be in class and my wifi will completely stop working. It will say I'm connected to the network, but I will be unable to load any webpages. After shutting my laptop screen, or manually attempting to put my machine in standby mode, it simply shows the going into standby screen indefinitely. The longest I left it up for was 30 minutes before forcing my machine to restart. I am running Windows XP SP3 on my T400. I got it a little over 4 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! -Matt

I use my computer as HTPC, so I always use sleep mode. In last few days it wakes up through the nights and doesn't react for anything, so I need to shut it down by starter button. Then, I have to reset my BIOS, because if not, my PC starts, but doesn't react for anything too. I'm testing sleep mode now and I can see that after two-three times, PC starts waking up immediately after I try to sleep it and is totally dead as after night wakes.Last night, I've just shut my PC down and everything was good, but it works for years as HTPC, so sleep mode is much more comfortable.Do you have any ideas?

Ok I will list the problems in order that they occured...

-Went to a site, suddenly I get the infamous fake spyware icon (the blue shield) and it says I have all these viruses and starts scanning

-I try to open up AVG and it's locked. I try MBAM and it's locked. Thankfully super antispyware works. and finds 4 of the trojan dropper and gen combo

- I delete and restart my computer in safe mode when I GET A BIG BLUE screen telling me that there was a problem (something like hardware problem or changes). This has never happened to me! I usually run safe mode and run my scans and boom my problem is solved but somehow it seems to be blocked!

-On the bright side my computer WILL load in regular mode but I seem to have the yahoo redirect problem. I ran trend micro, AVG, MBAM, and super antispywar and they dectect NOTHING. Please help! I'm really out of ideas on what to do. I ran a combo fix but it didn't take long and really had nothing in the log that stood out. If I need to post a hijack log I will gladly but I'll have to get back to the infected computer.

Please help! Thanks! I hope I don't have to reformat!

Kept getting BSODs that seemed to indicate malfunctioning ATI (onboard) video driver, tried everything I could think of to update/straighten that out to no avail. So I installed a 3rd party card. Everything seemed fine for a few days, but then got a stop 024. Perfmon showed everything was good (only thing of any note was that Kaspersky A/V wasn't recognized).
I also have been getting this strange little Warning box at the upper L corner of the screen whenever I reboot. It's empty and only shows whatever was on the desktop at the time it loaded. My attempt at attaching a screenshot of it failed, but someone here hopefully knows what I'm talking about.

Answer:Various BSODs, safe mode boot stops at ATIpcie64.sys

When I tried to run chkdsk again, and when I rebooted it did finally get past loading the driver AtiPcie64.sys. However, it wouldn't then run chkdsk....
Sure would appreciate any help, folks!

I picked up a trojan at a web site (an Amazon vendor, no less...). McAfee blocked it from completing whatever it does, but not before several changes were made to my XP Home system. The file McAfee detected was 9129837.exe. Web searches at Symantec and McAfee say it is low risk for home users, but the Trojan descriptions on their sites do not fully describe what it is currently doing. Using resources from various sites, I think I removed all active content, but am left with settings made by the trojan in its attempt to thwart removal. One change made that I have not figured out yet is how they are able to prevent Safe Mode from running. The computer boots normally otherwise, but any Safe Mode option hangs. The trojan also made it so that exe files will not run from the command prompt, from double clicks, and right-click Open. I got regedit.exe to run by copying it and saving as regedit.com. Running IE7 and other applications from shortcuts still work. One possible cause I found posted as a reason for the exe problem (changing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.EXE) does not appear to be the problem because the registry entry there is the same as I see on other XP computers.I am still looking for the Restore disk for this machine (an eMachine a few years old), so suggestions that don't require that CD are appreciated.Any ideas?

Ok so my computer is really jacked up. Like the title says I cannot boot into safe mode, access Google or Youtube, and when I try to download something it is saved as Freecorder and when I try to open the file it asks for a program to use to open it with even when I should not need to open the file with another program. Can any one help, I recenty bought a Satellite P750 with an i7 processor it has 4GB RAM. I have been experencing problems since buying it. It just seems to stop responding the round icon is spinning showing its thinking but I can wait for 10-15minutes and there is no change. This problem occurs sporaticly and some times occurs when loading up new programs. The problem occurs nearly all the time if it has entered hybernation and when I awaken it with mouse it starts up but when I to connect to the net for example it will bring up the internet explorer page and the round icon will be spinning and it will stay like this for ages until I am forced to shut it down with the on and off button. When I have this problem I have tryed using CTRL ALT DEL to open up task manager but task manager will not respond.

Has anyone had the same problem and is there a solution. Note when I turn of the HDD protection mode the probem seems to happen less frequenty but still occurs.

Hi,

I just got a brand new Satellite L450D-128 running Windows 7.
Whenever I run Windows in normal mode, anything and everything stops responding about 2 minutes after the desktop loads and i'm forced to turn the laptop off manually.

When I run Windows in safe mode it seems to work ok, but i'd rather not have to use safe mode indefinately.

Anyone know how I might be able to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite L450D-128 stops responding after ~2 minutes in Normal Mode

Hi

Try firstly to recover the unit.
This is not difficult and the whole procedure will not take long.

Power up the unit and press F8
Then choose Repair My Computer -> Toshiba HDD recovery

This will start the new installation.

I think this is necessary in order to check if this issue is not related to any software compatibility problems?

If the issue will still persist then we should follow the investigation?
I mean in such case a hardware issue could be possible?

windows unexpectedly restarted and now keeps restarting. I've read some articles here and understand it keeps restarting because of an error and that it may be easy cd creator causing the problem wich i did somewhat recently get. one article also tells how to disable the restart feature if the drive is in a bootable state, but my problem i keep restarting. i never finish booting up. when i try last succesful restart it seems to continue as a normally start up scandiscruns windows logo then bam restart. when i try system restore say preparing system restore feature then scandisc starts finishes then nothing ever happens. when i try safe mode a list of drivers star about a page and a half then stops responding. what do i do im stuck and frustrated. please help!

Answer:keeps restarting and stops responding when trying safe mode and restore features

i ran into a problem that sounds similar to what you're seeing. i believe the problem was the result of a bad sector on the hard drive. if you have the same problem you'll need to run scandisk or some other utility capable of doing a surface scan and handling bad sectors. unfortunately, the system restore scandisk doesn't seem robust (it didn't work for me, don't remember if it hung or crashed).

ideas for repairing this sort of problem:
- stick the drive into another machine and run scandisk from there
- use a third party utility, such as norton utilities (but note that many utilities, including norton, may not support ntfs, so if you're using ntfs, read the fine print very carefully before purchasing any software). you'll want a utility that provides a bootable cd so that you can avoid using the hard drive for booting.

hope this helps...

So I get these moments where the computer decides to enter power saving mode randomly (more usual when in gaming but happens other times too). I notice that I can still hear whatever is going on (skype, game) but all peripherals have somehow disconnected and cannot do anything. I cannot exit it externally and will have to force a restart.

Another problem is that the computer randomly freezes and tells me that the AMD Display driver stops working and recovers. This happens when I'm watching videos, not gaming. I then quickly close the tab or exit the movie player. If I try to continue watching the video (or reopen the video file, page) after this, the computer will keep freezing up and eventually shutdown so I just restart it.

I figured these two are probably linked.
Any help will be awesome.
Thanks.

Answer:Random power saving mode + AMD driver stops working

For starters tell us your syste specs also be sure to tell us what ATI gpu have and which catalyst version.
Disable power management within windows:
Disable Power Management on Windows 7 or Vista
Do that and see what happens for that day, if use a laptop hit the power button and make sure windows fully shuts down and close the lid.

I'm at my wits end here. I'm infected with at least Virtuomonde and Smitfraud. Here is what's happening.

All antivirus and HJT that I've tried (spybot, HJT, Avast, etc) start to run and then die. When I try to restart I get a dialog box that says, cannot access, file, drive, path--you may have insufficient rights.

clicking on browser links redirects to a random page.

booting in safe mode gives me a quick BSD and then starts over

Active desktop has died--I deleted an html "warning" image from the recovery console on a Win XP CD.

Can ANYBODY help or am I doomed to reformatting?

Currently running Win XP Home Edition--SP-3

Thanks so much!

My daughters computer is a Windows XP (as is mine) - she first could not go anywhere or click anything without an error window popping up. Each error window was different. She couldn't even get into the screen to choose system restore, recovery would go to the same day or day before only. She finally got into safe mode and started a system restore which froze at 37% at a file that she is sure is the problem. Then it went to black screen. We are sure it's a virus (at least I am) but we can't get into her programs to run anything. Can you help me??? I am computer stupid, so give me kindergarten instructions, please. My Bad, I have just been informed that it did not go to black screen, she just turned it off - now a file is missing or corrupt.

I opened msconfig and after clicking on the Services tab --> hide all Micorsoft services --> disable all and then clicked on 'apply' System Configuration Stopped responding [and I could not even restart my PC]. I did so manually. I tried again this time instead of selecting 'Disable all'' I just disabled one of them (Adobe update service) to see if I could do this one at a time. but still it stopped responding and froze everything.
Having no choice I rebooted manually and then pressed the F8 key to reboot in safe mode BUT I got a boot menu asking me which HD I wanted to use to boot into and not the DOS screen giving me a choice for safe mode.
BTW my Win 7 OS HP 64bit is now booting from an SSD drive on a PCI-e card and am wondering if this has anything to do with it.
Anyhow, having done my usual monthly virus scan as well as malaware by using 3 different sources (mine and 2 online ones) just yesterday this virus/trojan/malware is probably not the cause.
Why do I want msconfig or a safe mode boot. Trying to reinstall my HP scanner software and drivers which I am having a little bit of problems with--so not related.

Answer:urgent; Can't boot in safe mode and msconfig stops responding

Not knowing what was in startup originally, it's hard to say what you deleted but I'm guessing it had to do with a driver for your PCI-e SSD. If that's the drive you boot from, the startup boot is saying it's not there. What's the BIOS say for the order of boot devices? What other drives are installed?

I have not done scratch installs for a while now but was trying to revive an HD with problems. A Safe mode boot shows the trace of operations performed by the operating system. This trace stops at 'Drivers'
and hangs. If not in Safe mode an unrequested 'hard reset' takes place.

On the Win7 Windows Repair Environment it shows an option for drivers install. Is this simply the
motherboard drivers disk or is the Installation disk the source of the drivers files to refresh them?

From others I recall that finding drivers on an install disk where it goes and looks for them can be an endless task. Please provide any needed instructions to get through it.

This has improved the keyboard performance switching between the tablet and notebook mode.

Hi,

I have a Prot?g? Z10A and the touchpad and keyboard intermittiently stops working after sleep mode. I cannot wake it up or restart without re-booting.

I have done the update to the firmware keyboard docker as advised in a thread on January 2014 but this has not helped the problem.
This computer is only 2 weeks old.

I have been to download site and updated all drivers and updates.
The computer works perfectly except for this problem.

When the tablet is asleep the white led is blinking, and when it is all works ok, but if the light for some reason is not blinking but permanently lit then it will not restart and I have to re-boot the tablet.

I have disabled the hibernation mode in options but still no help.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer:Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

Hi

I?m wondering if the option (within the BIOS) called Wake-Up on Keyboard is enabled.
To restore the operation of the computer from sleep mode, press the power button or any key on the keyboard dock for a short amount of time. But the keyboard keys can only be used if the mentioned option is enabled.

Note: when the notebook is in Sleep Mode, the power indicator will blink white. If the power indicator does not blink white, the notebook isn?t set to sleep mode!

Good Evening,

I need help please. My home PC was attacked by the vundo virus over the weekend. With the help of someone at geekstogo.com, it was deemed cleaned.

McAfee ran this morning on schedule. When I left it was at 90% with nothing detected. I returned after 3 hours, opened webmail to dump unwanted mail and clear spam folder. I exited webmail and attempted to open MS Outlook. McAfee asked if I wanted to allow a change to registry for Outlook and I responded to block change. I At the same time, I got error message that I did not have permission to open the application. That didn't seem right so I decided to run Malawarebytes(trying to run it at least once a day). McAfee asked if I wanted to allow Malawarebytes to run and I allowed it. While running Malawarebytes, McAfee displahyed that it had discovered and quarantined Artemis "something". Malawarebytes finished runnning but reported no detections.

I attempted to open Outlook again and received the same error message. I then restarted the computer using Start/Shutdown/Restart. Just as the system shutdown, I heard the Windows error sound again. When the system restarted, there was a black screen and the cursor. I then attempted to start in Safe Mode and now have safe mode with the black screen. I have tried Safe Mode in Command Line, Safe Mode with Last Known Good Configuration. None of these worked. I think this was virus related and now I can't get windows to boot at all.

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?
