I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Woke up to a new bookmark's page in Chrome - and I DO NOT like it
I want those tiles or list view to be history.
Is there a way to get the old one back?

Answer:Disable Chrome's new bookmark manager page. Any way to get the old one back?

Best way I dealt with such pages, I created on my hard-drive my own default home page, and "hard-wired" IE, GChrome, FF to use that hard-drive html as home page. From that home page, I can go anywhere anytime. I know of no way to go back into history and use a past page -- unless one can copyNpaste that desired html onto the hard-drive, make a few necessary tweaks, and "hard-wire" that page into IE, GChrome, FF.

The native bookmark manager of the Chrome browser is as basic as it gets. All it enables you to do is to search bookmarks, move them to and from folders, and to delete or edit them.

When you compare that to the Firefox bookmarks manager for example, you will notice that it is far superior. From options to sort bookmarks in multiple ways over extensive editing option to the display of additional information about each bookmark in the interface.

Google has released a new Bookmark Manager extension for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers that aims to improve the native bookmark manager.

It replaces the bookmarks manager which you notice when you open the bookmarks in the browser. Instead of displaying folders and links only, colorful tiles and other information are displayed by it by default now.

You find search, edit and import/export options at the top now which is an improvement to the native implementation. The search has been improved by Google as it will include information found on the page itself in the search and not only the bookmark title, snippet and url.

The left displays all folders just like before but with options to display subfolders right away or hide them instead.

The location of each bookmark is highlighted by the tile, and drag & drop operations are supported to move bookmarks around. Tiles seem to be placeholder icons. New bookmarks show a thumbnail image of the site in question instead.

The extension adds a star icon to the toolbar that you ca... Read more

I have Lenovo G500s laptop which is trying to update. It is in a loop as it:
1. Reboot to start the update
2. After about 25%, it reboots during the update
3. During the reboot (maybe 15 seconds into reboot), screen flashes, and screen saids reverting to previous version
This cycle will repeat itself.
Using Windows Media tool and USB, I try to do the update.
The error code is: 0x80070057, 0x2000A
The installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during PREPARE_FIRST_BOOT operation.

A few days ago my Pc started to act slow and slugging so i restarted it a couple of times and on the 3rd reboot it started a disc check. Once it finished it worked flawlessly BUT it had reverted to a previously unknown restore point. Ok i thought and reinstalled some programs that were missing and went to bed. Next day i booted it up and all the programs were missing again.....The same unknown restore point was back! Curious now, i installed a program, rebooted the pc, and once again, same restore point! Hello. So desktop computer is Dell XPS, I7. Windows 10 Pro. Normal office software, Quickbooks, AOL desktop, McAfee antivirus.
The date and time on the computer are correct to current date and time (5/4/2017). I go to change the date to 5/8/2017. The date changes when I click "Change" on that pop-up. By the time I am looking again at the white date/time settings page, the date reverts back to 5/4/2017.

Computer is set to NOT synchronize with an internet time server, Set Time automatically is OFF, Set Time Zone Automatically is OFF, Adjust for daylight ... is ON

Computer keeps the date and time accurately on reboot or off/on even if I left it a few hours "off".

I just cannot change it. Has anybody seen something like this before? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Changed date on computer reverts back to previous in 3 to 10 seconds

Welcome to TenForums @Joe Palka

I can change the date to 8th May and it stays that way - even after a reboot. It will only revert to today's date when I turn back on 'synchronize with an internet time server'.

I suspect it is something other than the Windows settings that's resetting your date. Are you signed in with a Microsoft account? I'm using a local account.

Hi folks

In the race to "simplify things" - newer versions always seem to get worse - and the new SKYPE for Windows is horrible -- why do new developers hate menus -- loads of us are still using "Old fashioned computers" with nice large screens rather than tiny mobile phones and menus are helpful.

Please developers don't simplify stuff TOO much so it becomes almost impossible to use !!!!! and don't abandon the idea of Menus. !!!! We don't always all work 100 % full screen - especially if large monitors and a few concurrent appls running.

I've re-installed the old version - skype for desktop (classic) which is still available

How to install older version skype 7 - Microsoft Community

Much simpler to use -- all the features easily available from menu bar and just works

Hello everyone, I've been stuck on trying to upgrade to Windows 10. I am currently using a OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, HP Pavilion dv6 laptop.

Problem started when I notified Microsoft that I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. I upgraded with my wife's laptop first. She also has the same laptop, but its a newer version. Windows 10 installed fine, so I decided to do mine. So I repeated the steps I did when I upgraded my wife's laptop. I clicked on the Windows icon in my task bar. It told me Windows upgrade was ready, so I clicked on continue. I let the update take its course. After 8 hours of seeing the words "working on it" I decided to exit out of the program, thinking something is wrong. I restarted my laptop and clicked on the Windows icon again. This time I did this before I went to bed. When I woke up it still had the words "working on it." So I did some research and I came across a thread that stated to use Windows update. I ran the Windows update and to my surprise Windows 10 was there (it was the only update). I clicked on update and it started to download, so I figured life was good. Windows 10 downloaded and installed. It went through the three phases (Baking up files, installing software and drivers, and then validation)<--if those are not the exact three phases I forgot, but there are three phases-->as soon as the third phase finished it states that something goes wrong and reverts back to Windows 7 Home Premium. This issue is of no real practical consequence to me other than the fact that it's a bit annoying and also a matter of curiosity as to whether I can alter the settings of my Chrome browser bookmark manager so that it won't open up each time two thirds of the way down the menu and with the same folder being opened with it's list of contents.

I've attached a partial screen clip below to show you that specific area to which it always opens. I have the bookmark manager loaded into my bookmark bar (toolbar) and have the bookmark manager list open as a sidebar. My problem is that I am unable to alter the settings so that list opens to the beginning of the list, and not to the "Reference Information" folder area, and also I cannot stop that folder from being opened each time I open the manager.

I of course have closed the folder and set the list to the top of the selections when I closed out in hopes that setting would be kept, but no such luck. If anyone could inform me as to how the default setting could be altered, I would appreciate it.

Quite frankly, I am uncertain as to whether this is a Google Chrome issue or a Windows 7 issue.

Hi all,
my Google Chrome has a very slow loading for the bookmark folders that contain a few hundred bookmarks on my bookmark bar. When I try to navigate to those folders, the entire browser just hangs there for about 10 seconds before the list of the bookmarks in the folder pops up. However, with bookmark manager it loads just fine. This has been very troublesome for me as I am very used to opening bookmarks via bookmark bar, also drag-and-drop my favorite websites directly into my bookmark folders on the bookmark bar. I hope there is a solution to this. Thanks!

Google Chrome 4 Gets Bookmark Syncing

The latest developer versions of the Google Chrome browser come with the build in option to synchronize bookmarks across multiple computer systems by utilizing a Google account to store the data. Google Chrome dev build users might already know the feature from previous developer builds where it had to be enabled by launching the Google browser with the ?enable-sync parameter to enable the menu item and the feature.
The rest of the functionality remained the same. The bookmarks will still be stored in Google Docs and not in Google Bookmarks, apparently because of the way bookmarks are stored in the web browser. The latest builds of the Google browser, for example 4.0.223.11 and above, offer bookmark syncing between multiple computer systems running Google Chrome out of the box.

Is there a way or an add-on, to add deletion verification to bookmarks (Y/N)? Its annoying to find out that someone has accidentally hit that delete button on any bookmark (or entire folder) only to find out theres no 'undo' option, and that no one was asked 'are you sure Y/N' on doing so :( thanks for any help.

This is surely the worst thing about the browser (other than any media or websites not loading correctly, or default browser bookmarks not having the option to be on the left hand side of the screen, next to "save page as pdf", without having to import from another browser, or create your own bookmark folder).

I installed the latest stable version of Google Chrome today as I was after a better performing browser (than IE) and Chrome (and its derivatives) seemed the best bet.I like a lot of aspects of Chrome, especially its minimalist layout and Chrome certainly performs well with pages rendering considerably faster than IE. However, it falls down so significantly in one major area, the handling of bookmarks (aka favourites), that it just isn?t a viable candidate with the laborious bookmark handling negating the performance benefits of Chrome.I would be interested in others input to my criticisms and suggestions below. In particular I would be interested if anyone has suggestions as to solutions / workarounds to the points I raise. My intention is to submit a considered review (in respect of bookmark handling) to the developers rather than a piecemeal comment (complaint?) about just a single aspect.BTW, I could have posted this in one of the other forums, but the Helproom seemed as good a place as any. Thanks, BatchSo what is it about Chrome that?s so bad?Firstly, let me say that I have in the order of a thousand or so bookmarks, organised in a series of folders and sub-folders.See next post....

Answer:Google Chrome - poor Bookmark handling

As for the issues:----------------------1. On importing my old IE favourites, Chrome wants to place these in a separate ?Other Bookmarks? folder over to the right of the window. These aren?t other bookmarks ? they are my main bookmarks and I want them to be recorded and usable as such in Chrome. It seems I have to manually drag each of the folders and top level URLs in to the main bookmarks area. This immediately leads on to the second issue.2. If one creates a series of folders / URLs immediately in the Bookmarks bar, these appear across the Bookmarks bar and rapidly fill this up, requiring one to shuffle (not scroll), using the displayed double chevrons, back and forth across the bar (just like one has to generally on overloaded toolbars in various apps) to see the folders. This is incredibly painful. The alternative to this (I hesitate to call it a solution) is to create one main folder (say ?Bookmarks? at the top level and then put all of the real folders below this. This then, at least provides a single expandable / collapsible hierarchy.3. But unfortunately the use of the hierarchy is not sticky. So when one navigates to a particular sub-folder and opens a URL and then want to open another URL from the same folder one has to navigate all the way back down again. This sub-folder access is very much akin to the Windows Start Menu navigation (in fact it looks and performs exactly like it).The lack of stickiness can be circumvented to some extent by opening up th... Some of you that use Google Chrome may have noticed that the bookmark menus have changed (different colour background and more widely spaced).
A workaround to revert to the original style is to add a space followed by
--disable-new-menu-style to the end of the Target field in the shortcut that you use to launch Chrome.
Note that if the existing Target field information is enclosed in quotes the space and --disable-new-menu-style need to go after the final quote.
If you launch Chrome from an URL link the workaround doesn't come in to play.
There is speculation that Google may "fix" this unwanted change as it is irritating a lot of users.

As far as I can tell, I have the right extensions installed to allow the following to happen: When clicking a link, the new link is to open in a new tab. This apparently is working fine except when I'm in a Google search screen (ie, searching for something using Google). When clicking a link within Google, the link opens within the Google tab, whereas it should open in its own tab (like Firefox)???

The same thing also happens when clicking a bookmark. That is, in order for a bookmark to open in its own tab (not in the existing tab), I have to right click and choose "open in new tab." Would like bookmark opening to open in new tab, just like Firefox.

Answer:In Chrome, want Google and bookmark links to open in new tab.

I'm not sure about Chrome, but I have Firefox and in order to open anything in a new tab, I just middle-click it. Or to do that from the Location Bar or the Search Box, I just press Alt+Enter.

I'm thinking of going back to a previous version of windows right before the creators update (i think its the same as 1703). I don't like all the changes it caused, mainly not being able to rearrange my files the way i want to, that's a must have for me.
Since i have never gone back to a previous version of windows after an update i don't know what it entails.
Can someone please tell me how this will affect my PC, files, etc or anything.

Will i lose files that i have between now and the update (photos, movies, music, browser history, bookmarks etc).
I don't wanna lose any files or even my internet history or bookmarks.

Just to be sure can someone also PLEASE explain exactly how to do this as well. I think i know how to, but i'm still a noob so i don't want to make a big mistake.
Thank you for any help!

Answer:going back to a previous version of windows

As far as I can tell the version of Win10 on one of my computers is Version 1703 Build 15063, seems to be the Creators Update. I also have the RTM Version 1607 Build 14393 on a computer and the Insider Preview Version 1703 Build 16199 on a computer. I would be inclined to assume going back to the previous Version would work if an Upgrade had been done less than 10 days ago, otherwise a clean install would be necessary which usually removes everything.

And the Upgrade to the CU may require some of the updates you've already done.

G'day.

So I was browsing the web and checking my bookmarks which I view in my day-to-day internet life and I found out that my bookmark icons have been changed automatically and it is not the real icons too, just some random icons added.

Even the MalwareTips icon has changed. I did a complete scan using MalwareBytes and Hitman PRO and cleaning cookies, cache's and temps using CCleaner. But my system was clean.

Is this the new 'Gauss' virus which was detected by Kaspersky's and is now all over Middle East?

Thanks.

Today we're excited to introduce a new stable release of Google Chrome for Windows, which includes two of the browser's most frequently requested features: extensions and bookmark sync.
Extensions let you add new features and functions to your browser. Some provide one-click access to some of your favorite web applications like eBay and digg, or news and information sources such as NPR and Time.com. Others are useful tweaks for performing common online tasks such as browsing photos, getting directions or shopping. Official Google Blog: Extensions, bookmark sync and more for Google Chrome

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Hi all,

one of my Chrome extensions recently lost all its settings overnight, including a whitelist that I very heavily rely on. I'm trying to restore the User Data directory to before these settings disappeared, and indeed the Previous Versions function in Windows 10 tells me older versions are available for being restored.

However, when I try to restore these, I get an error message that reads "Restore skipped restoring the file: [entire directory] to original location." The options for Restore To and Open also greyed out. I've read many accounts of people restoring their Chrome user data using the same method, so I'm not sure why I am unable to do the same.

The directory is located in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data, which makes me think it may possibly be a permissions issue. I've already made sure all Chrome processes are ended, but to no avail.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot in advance,

Segia

Hello  Please use the following instructions and see if that helps:  http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-from-windows-10 NOTE : MICROSOFT has told that they have only 30 days to GoBack to their previous OS.  This is because the information needed to do that is stored in two different places: Windows.old and a hidden Windows folder in the C: Partition. After 30 days, Windows.old still remains but the hidden Windows folder has often been removed -- by a Windows update. Once that folder is gone, you can not Restore to your previous OS. Also, unfortunately, the GoBack function is unreliable.  There are lots of posts on the Windows 10 forums about folks who performed that function only to end up with a previous OS that didn't work properly. If the restore information is gone, your only recourse is to restore using HP Recovery Media.  Details at the link: HP PCs - Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive | HP® Customer Support   Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

The 2.3.002 version does not work correctly. The previous version (no idea what the number/version would have been) was resonably helpful. The current version does not display correctly and does not allow me to select options within the various tabs as the contents/options are displayed out of the viewport and there is not 'scrollbar' or anything to enable access. Is there anyway to roll back to a previous version? My system: W520/Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40GHz/8GB Ram/Windows 7 Professional

So far, two of our clients have been infected with this in the last week, and it's nasty. When you try to close it, it often will pop up a message box that simply says, "I'll be back!". Then it re-opens. Here;s what my team has found so far:

1) Hitman Pro.Kickstart can rip it out, but will not decrypt the files.
2) It will quickly jump to USB and external drives, so make sure you are careful to check anything you put in the system for infected files.
3) So far, I haven't found a way to decrypt the files, but you can restore to a previous version of most of the encrypted files if you have System Protection and shadow copies turned on. Right click the file, choose "Restore previous version...", and select the closest date before the infection. You can do this to entire folders as well, but remember that it recreates the folder COMPLETELY from that date, so newer files may be missing from the backup. It also doesn't work on offline files (files accessed over a network).

I hope this helps. Good luck!

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7447 and its integrated GPU is Intel HD Graphics 4600. When I download the latest driver online and install it, it works. However, a few hours later, after booting up my system, I see that the driver has downgraded to the previous version. This has happened more than twice now, and I did the fixes to disable driver updates in Windows 10.

Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10 Windows Update Activation Tutorials

Please help me.

Driver version should end with 4703 instead of 4531.

Answer:Intel HD Graphics driver keeps on reverting back to previous version

Let uninstall the driver before installing latest version of the driver.

1. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu.

2. Expand Display adapters and right click Intel HD Graphics and select Uninstall. If there is a option to delete driver from drivers store select the option.

3. Restart your computer.

When you log back in open the Device Manager to see if the old version of the driver is installed or not if its installed uninstall it again then install latest version of driver and if needed restart your computer.

hey every body

I think I got problem after I had downloaded BIOS update
The performance of my laptop become slow and week. Now i want to know how can i delete this bois update

Answer:Satellite L750 (PSK2YV) How to get back to previous BIOS version

Hi

First of all you cannot do that because the Toshiba European driver page provides always the latest BIOS version? furthermore the BIOS is windows based and needs to be executed from running system. So even if you would have an older BIOS version, during the update you would get an notification that newer BIOS version is already installed.

But what do you mean by ?become slow???
I cannot imagine that BIOS would slow down the unit?

I recommend accessing the BIOS pressing F2 and then set it to default.
Save changes F9 and exit BIOS pressing F10

Hello, I?m new to this forum. Last week I purchased an IdeaCentre K330 7727-4GU. I went to http://consumersupport.lenovo.com and was able to search for any BIOS updates by entering the computers serial number. I found there was a BIOS update ?DKJ915AUS.ISO? with a last modified date of 2011-04-29. I downloaded it and burned to CD and booted from CD and flashed the BIOS. I watched the monitor and it appeared that everything went well and completed OK. But when I re-booted the computer I got two beeps and the following error message: Error 0162 Setup data integrity check failed I tried re-flashing again and got the same error message after rebooting. I would like to download the previous BIOS and re-flash back to that version. But I can?t find a link to download the previous version. Previous BIOS version: DKKT20AUS Last modified date of 2011-3-16 Does anyone have a download link for this previous version: DKKT20AUS Last modified date of 2011-3-16? Or does anyone have any suggestions how I can get back to the previous version? Thank you.

The latest 3 insider builds have created an issue where I cannot run MalwareBytes AntiMalware without Windows crashing with a BSOD. Can I stop receiving insider builds and revert back from build 14951 to the latest stable public release (Anniversary Build) of Windows 10? How would I revert back to that version of Windows 10 if I am currently on build 14951? MalwareBytes can only support publicly released versions of Windows 10, and cannot support the insider pre-release builds.

Hey All,

A helpful tip for many who use Gmail. If you keep getting prompted with "Are you sure you want to use HTML (Basic) Gmail at login, or you are automatically taken to the HTML interface, instead of modern Gmail, you need to update your Gmail Bookmarks to the following link and delete the old one:

https://www.google.com/gmail/about/

This is part of Google's attempt to streamline Gmail accross all devices. If you are still getting the prompt, make sure that you are on a supported browser, (Firefox, Chrome, or Microsoft Edge) and clear your cache and browser history. Several Google users have been reporting this issue on Google Forums, and the help team seems to provide the harder solutions, when the issue may be as simple as updating your Gmail bookmarks.

Greetings! When I click on a desktop icon, the previous link is displayed. I can get where I want to go by using the address bar or by using IE [64bit] browser. This anomaly happened after I downloaded some pictures from my daughter about my recent vacation. Coincidence? She just, within a few days, had her PC serviced and security changed from Norton to Microsoft's free program.I've cleared browsing data by deleting the address bar history and run Avast, c cleaner, spy bot, malwarebytes. All negative except Spy bot which came up with DoubleClick and MediaPlex, which I fixed. Thanks for any help!Sparky

Update: As of Chrome 33, this workaround does not work. However, you may use New Tab Reloaded extension as an alternative.
http://www.omgchrome.com/google-removes-new-tab-page-flag/
http://www.omgchrome.com/new-tab-redirect-closest-youll-get-chromes-old-tab-page/

Here is a quick tip for users of the Google Chrome browser. In the latest version of the browser, Google changed the appearance of the page you get when you want to create a new tab. Now you get a lot of white space, a great big Google logo, and an unnecessary search bar. (See the graphic below.) A lot of people (including me) don?t like it. Fortunately, there is a quick way to bring back the way the new tab page previously looked.

1. Enter "chrome://flags" (without quotes) in the address bar (or ?omnibox? as Google terms it).
2. In the page that opens, scroll down until you locate the entry "Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS". (It?s a long list. You might want to use Ctrl+F and the Find box).
3. In the little drop-down dialog at the bottom-left of the entry, click ?Disabled?
4. At the bottom-left of your window, there should be a button ?Relaunch Now?. Click it. Otherwise, just close and restart the browser.
5. If you want the new style back, click "Enabled" in step 3 above and restart the browser.
And there you have it ? the new tab page the way it used to look

my problem is that often when I try to connect a laptop to the wi fi it won't connect because the connection has changed from home network to public and sometimes unidentified network . I can get it connected by momentarily unplugging the router and rebooting it , then pressing connect button and it will revert to home network and things are ok . It is a netgear DGN1000 and I tried another router same make and model , same problem. I use an ethernet cable on my desktop no problems.there's 3 laptops come in to occasional use and it's happened to them all . My early attempt was microsoft's fix for sticking in public mode . It is windows 7 pro on the laptops , ultimate on desktop

Hi all,

First post here and not sure if this is the right forum. (crossing fingers)!

It seems that the first Monday of the month, my system resets back to the date that MS pushed out IE9 to my PC and installed. This brings back the 'old' desktop and settings.

Each time this happens, I have to reinstall my printer & set to default, reactivate various program icons, etc.

This is becoming very tiresome as today was the 3rd time this happened.

I am in hopes that there is a GURU out there that can advise on a solution to this.

Many Thanks in advance!
--Steve

Answer:Windows 7 Home Prem. x 64 reverts to previous settings

Do you keep installing IE9 ? It won`t install unless you want it too. Change your update settings to check for updates but let me choose whether to install them. Check for updates and this time hide the IE9 update. Right click on the update to hide it. Wait and see if it reverts again.

In my opinion there is no reason to install IE9.

When the format of one of the paragraphs or sections is changed then highlighted and moved to another page, the paragraph switches to whatever the formatting on that page is even tho it has been highlighted. This happens if margins are made smaller or text is changed to italic or any change is made in that paragraph. I had worked for years with 98 and XP and never had this problem. Both pages are just standard WORD. Have even tried going to "save as" after highlighting then moving the paragraph but doesn't help.

Answer:Copy & paste section in WORD, formatting reverts to previous

Hi footwarmer, welcome to TSG.

What version of Word are you using? When you paste, do you see a little clipboard icon come up? If so, drop down the arrow. Is the far left icon selected?

Hi

Go with the regular one as less likely to have any issues, beta's can be prone to faults, although running betas is a hit and miss affair as some users will say they have no issues, while others have issues.

Because I was tired of FF constantly not responding I decided to try Google Chrome. It seems ok so far but there is one thing that really annoys me. When the search list comes up there is a small arrow to the left of the search box. If I hover even anywhere near that this large black drop down list appears which includes You Tube, +You, Facebook, search, images etc. In short all programs I have no interest in or can access elsewhere.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this darned box appearing? Or alternatively how to delete it altogether?
Thank you.

A simple question for you, but it will help me enormously to know the answer.

My existing Chrome version is 40.0.2202.3 m, not sure how I got it, I was on version 38 a month ago and must have done something.

Version 38 is the current Chrome stable version and I would like to uninstall my 40 and install the 38.

Question - If I uninstall my Chrome 40 and then install Chrome 38,  how will all my personal data, settings, bookmarks, bookmark bar and layout, extensions, passwords, themes etc be restored in the new version 38 if they were uninstalled with the 40 ?

I cannot afford to lose all that data and customising to start from scratch.

source: Google Launches Enterprise Version of Chrome OS

Google launched today an improved version of the Chrome OS specifically built for deployment in large-scale enterprises.

Nicknamed Chrome Enterprise, this Chrome OS version will be available for $50 per device per year and includes the following new features.

Of all, the most important feature is the support for Microsoft Active Directory. By adding AD support, Google has removed the main impediment for businesses switching to Chrome OS, which was the ability to run Chrome OS and Windows on the same managed network.

With AD support, users will be able to use their regular work credentials to log into Chrome OS devices, without the overhead of using separate credentials or sysadmins managing different networks.Click to expand...

Chrome OS conquering one industry sector at a time
Chrome OS and Chromebook devices have been very successful in the education sector where many schools and universities have chosen Chromebooks as at-home school-provided laptops, but also in retail where they've been used as in-store PCs.

The low price of owning a Chromebook has made Chrome OS an appealing solution in these two verticals, and will no doubt make it as appealing in the enterprise sector.

While Microsoft has been offering Windows for home users for decades, it is from enterprise products that the company has made most of its money, of which, Google now wants a piece as well.Click to expand...

Google Chrome Dev Channel Reaches Version 6
A few days after the first Chromium builds with build number 6 appeared on the public Chromium release repository Google Chrome 6 dev was released. The dev version is the cutting edge version of the Chrome browser which often includes experimental features and bugs that need to be sorted out before the beta and stable versions of the web browser are released.
The beta channel, more stable than the dev channel, is currently offered as version 5.x while the stable channel is still offered as version 4.x. This does not necessarily mean that there are lots of feature differences between the web browsers.

- HTML5 date pickers don't work properly/reliably
- Needs the ability to have extensions/add-ons

etc. I have logged support/feedback entries to MS. I know they are already working on all of the above and I am positive that Edge will become a fantastic browser, but I need a better build now before I go back to it.

I downloaded windows ,but don't want Microsoft Edge as my browser. I had Google Chrome and now I've lost all my passwords I had saved in Google Chrome. I have re-installed Chrome but no pages will open. Do I have to un-install ME first? If so how do I do that? I might just get rid of windows 10 completely if I cant get back to Chrome.

Answer:How can I get back my Google Chrome?

You can have multiple browsers along side each other; install Chrome.
Edge is really nice, just needs some extras before it's completely usable.

In program files 86, under google - chrome folder - I see chrome keeps both previous version & latest version folders. It doesn't delete old version.
Is it safe to delete previous version folder?

Answer:Safe to delete Google Chrome old version folders?

Yes, it's safe to delete - both old folders and chrome_old.exe

For example:
Old folder to be deleted - 42.0.2311.135
New folder that you should not delete - 42.0.2311.152

The new Chrome folders are indicated by it's newer (higher) version numbers.

Before proceeding, make sure Google Chrome is not running on any logged in user accounts, nor running in the background.

Has anybody noticed a small key icon which has appeared in the address bar in the chrome browser? It is a link which opens the password manager.
It is a new addition which was not there before and there does not seem to be anyway of removing it.
Anybody come across this?

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

Hi, I just found a neat little feature in Google Chrome and I'd like to share it with others who might not have noticed it.

First you'll click the wrench in the top-right of your browser.

Then navigate to the option 'View Background Pages'

Then in the open window you can manage the processes Chrome is currently using. To get a more detailed look click the 'Stats for nerds' option.

And you should find yourself at a page that looks like this:

Hope this helps!

The backspace keyboard button used as a navigation back function in Google Chrome was removed from the browser in update 52.
They have brought it back now as an extension. Most seem to report that it works fine but the opinions are mixed that they could not have implemented it back into the browser instead of an extension.

Go Back With Backspace

Re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button (except when writing text).
Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

After this extension is newly installed, enabled, or updated, any open tabs will need to be reloaded for the changes to take effect

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

About the "all sites" permission: In order to capture backspace on every page, the extension needs to install a little piece of code on each one. It does nothing else with the the page, its information, or your typing.

Source: The beta is back for Google Chrome

Yesterday marked a new release of Google Chrome, the new version is yet again in beta (Google like its beta stuff). They are implementing some new features, we?ve even gotten to a point where there?s a pretty neat one not available in other browsers by default. In their own words:The first thing you might notice about this new beta is the speed improvement, but you?ll also find additional browsing tools, such as basic form autofill, full page zoom, support for autoscroll, and a new way to drag tabs into side-by-side view.
That side-by-side view looks pretty good, although I don?t think it will be of any serious use unless you have a big monitor. I usually work on a 1650?1200 monitor, and I still find websites side-by-side distracting. That being said, this feature can be put to good use when researching. You can have same functionality in Firefox using Tab Splitter

I have google chrome 18.0.1025.152 m installed on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Within the past 3-4 days I've started to have an issue where when I try to go back a page using either the back button on my mouse, the backspace key, or the back button and I have to click it multiple times before it will go back, sometimes it won't even do that so I have to click and hold on the back button and then choose which page I want to go back to...often with multiple pages for the same page listed before I can go back to the page I want.

I have the following extensions on the browser:
Adblock Plus (Beta)
AVG Safe Search
ChromeReload (not turned on)
F.B. Purity
Facebook Classic
Google Translate
StumbleUpon
Turn Off the Lights
Youtube Downloader

I had tried to look on Google for some answers...but it was not very helpful.

If you need to know anything else so I can figure this out, please let me know.

Also, this isn't super important so whenever someone can help me to fix it (it's only a minor annoyance right now)

Answer:Google chrome and trying to go back a page

Hi,

Firefox has a mode that is called Safe mode which will disable all the plugins and let you test things, but Chrome doesn't. It does have a mode call incognito. I would like you to try running a tab with that mode and see if you are having the same issues. This will help us figure out if it is a browser issue or a plugin/addon issue.

I can't get them back. Also my taskbar icons are jumbled and in grouped in two different places. They are not in a line and to get to them I have to cursor down below the screen to bring them up. I need instructions on how to get my full settings back for Google Chrome, and how to rearrange the taskbar icons back to their regular places. Thank You.

I keep getting memory error's. So I opened up task manager and I have about 10 instances of Google Chrome running and they keep multiplying. I don't even have Google Chrome on my machine.

Answer:Fake Google Chrome in task manager

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Google Chrome NoNonsense Cookie Manager needed
I have a couple of no-nonsense cookie managers for my Firefox, which are very good!
However, I cannot find a similar quality cookie manager for Google Chrome.
My last two picks apparently came from "Toyland-R-Us" -- which I promptly removed.
Google Chrome power users: which two cookies managers are the best in your experience?

Answer:Google Chrome NoNonsense Cookie Manager needed

I know there's a popular extension with the logo a monster eating a cookie or something... I don't recall the name though. Click&Clean seems popular enough (though it deletes more than just cookies since it's a privacy-based extension).

Hello, I've seen a few topics relating to my problem but wasn't sure if the steps are exactly the same for each person or if they are customized from problem to problem.

I'm running windows 7 and as other users have stated, my computer was running slowly, freezing up periodically and minimizing programs I was using. I checked task manager and at that time I saw many dllhost with description COM surrogate running, and trying to end the processes they just kept appearing again. At that time I had AVG as my antivirus and malwarebytes. Only AVG detected the file but it could not delete it. I then uninstalled AVG and changed my antivirus to Bitdefender and that seemed to have stifled the symptoms although I don't believe it ever fixed the problem. My computer was running smoothly for about a week and now I have a filename uirrvmzweu.exe with description google chrome. My computer symptoms are about the same as they were when the dllhost process was running. They both act very similar as far as I can see.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
