[SOLVED] Separate Taskbar Shortcuts for Google Chrome Accounts

Question: [SOLVED] Separate Taskbar Shortcuts for Google Chrome Accounts

My name is Jake and I have recently enrolled in a college. Woohoo!

The college I attend uses a modified version of gmail that is monitored for security purposes. I noticed that when using Google Chrome I could click my name "Jake" in the top right corner next to the minimize button and select "Switch Person". I have set up two people; one person is "Jake", who uses my personal gmail account and has the settings I want, the bookmarks I want, and I can do whatever I please. My other person - more formally named "Jacob" - uses my university email and gmail account and has its own settings, and it is where I will conduct schoolwork. I decided to keep these people separate so that I would not get distracted by YouTube or anything fun when it's business time. I wanted two separate profiles so that I could keep whatever random stuff "hidden" from me.

I noticed that when I opened Chrome as "Jake", the account I've had for several years, the taskbar 'expands' the small shortcut I have of Chrome to display the page as pictured here: http://puu.sh/izSAw/c4397afd0b.png

However, when I opened Chrome as "Jacob" after having 'Switch(ed) Person(s)' in Chrome, a new window opened and displayed on the other side of my taskbar, indicating that it was not affiliated with the first shortcut: http://puu.sh/izSGa/c266dbe0cc.jpg (note that Jacob's New Tab appears on the far right, while this forum post I'm typing as Jake)

I decided that if the two couldn't mingle and be friends, they could at least be two entirely separate beasts. Maybe I could create one shortcut to automatically open Jake's profile and bookmarks, with the regular Google Chrome logo, and another shortcut to automatically open Jacob's profile and bookmarks, and maybe have a cheeky little logo of my university as an icon.

It didn't go as expected.

I created a shortcut for Chrome using the tab opened as Jacob and the program was called "Jacob - Chrome". The program to open Jake, however, is just titled "Chrome" and it will open whatever profile was previously opened, but I want it to open Jake specifically.

Looking at the properties for each shortcut, one displays an instruction to open "Profile 1" from the profile directory. This causes the shortcut to purposefully open Jacob, Profile 1, and load their settings: http://puu.sh/izSWc/0a4d142fdb.png (note the text listed under Target)

The other shortcut opens Chrome and disregards anything about Profiles: http://puu.sh/izT1t/8512d8b4c4.png (note the text listed under Target)

I tried having the shortcut for Jake open "Profile 0", but that seems to create an entirely-default profile with the name "Person 1" and opens 0.0.0.0 as a default page.

Maybe what I'm looking for is not "Profile 0", but another profile identifier? I'm not sure. Both shortcuts have the same program location, but only the icon and the modifier (--profile-directory="<name>") seem to be the difference between the two shortcuts.

What I would like are two different Chrome shortcuts on my taskbar at the bottom of my screen. Upon clicking the first, my "Jake" profile is opened and Chrome is loaded. Upon clicking the second, my "Jacob" profile is opened and Chrome is loaded.

Congratulations!

Try Profile 2.

If not, then remove all Chrome links from the task bar. Open "Jake" and pin that to the task bar, switch profiles and then pin that to the task bar. That should pin both accounts.

Hello again.. My Google Chrome is pinned to my taskbar and when I click the icon it has always opened a window within that icon.. all of a sudden it started creating a separate one.

I found a thread about this issue on this forum and it seemed to be solved with the solution below. This solution does not work for me as there isn't two Google Chrome.ink when I get to UserPinned\Taskbar. Also when I right click on the new icon and select 'Pin this program to taskbar'.. It no longer has the right click option of 'New INCOGNITO Window'.

I found another solution online saying to delete the UserData from Chrome but my Chrome isn't synced up with my gmail account because it has caused problems in the past so I have no way of retrieving my bookmarks, extensions, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!!

Welcome to Seven Forums juiceimus. The fact you don't have it synced makes it difficult, as that is a fix. I have 2 ideas for you:

Right click the Chrome shortcut> Properties> Compatibility Tab> Change compatibility to Vista

See if that works (you could try other compatibility choices as well. This would be a workaround as the fix is something you can't do

Also, you might try unpinning the icon, Open Chrome from the start menu by right clicking the Chrome icon and choosing Run as administrator. Now pin that instance of Chrome to the taskbar, and see of that helps.

Finishing up removing this malware, but a few problems still persist:
CMD windows, usually two, randomly flash on the screen every once in a while.
Chrome closes on its own every once in a while
Sometimes I look at the taskbar, and I see two Chrome shortcuts, one showing open windows for the Chrome I'm using, and the other showing that it's not in use.
Malwarebytes comes up clean, as does Zemana. I'm unsure what to do from here, please advise.

Hi,
I run a Lenovo X1 with a 64-bit Windows 7. When I received the computer, I installed AVG Internet Security, Google Chrome, Skype, CrossLoop ScreenSharing, Opera and MSFT current Office suite.

When I configure my desktop, I like to have the icons of my favorite applications on the Windows Toolbar at the bottom of the screen. I launch most of my stuff from there. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Chrome allowed you to add a bookmark, then move that bookmark to your Desktop (main work area once you logon). Chrome simply created a shortcut. I was even more surprised to find that when using Chrome, I could take the shortcut icons and add them to my Windows Toolbar. When I launched webpages like Jigsaw.com, LinkedIn and Facebook, I went directly to my account as if it were an application.

Now, for some reason, the ability to "pin" these web pages to Windows has disappeared and everything is "pinned" in the Google Icon which I need to "right click" to access.

My question, does anyone know what I need to do to "re-enable" this functionality???? I am running Google Chrome version 15.0.874.121. OS is Windows 7 Professional. I don't know how to find the exact build data.

Thanks,
Matt

I got this (new) laptop for Christmas and I don't believe I didn't set up a family account. (I'm 17) Apparently I have a family account with my moms email. I downloaded Google Chrome and now it's saying I need to ask (to my moms email) permission to use
the Google Chrome app. We went to her email and it brought us to a page that said 'manage preference's' for my account. When we clicked on that, all that would come up would ask if I would allow adults in the family to help check the health and safety of my
device. So hw do I allow my laptop to let me use Google Chrome? Is there a setting in Microsoft to let me that I haven't found?

Just got a new computer and am slowly adjusting to Windows 8. Was quite unhappy however, when I downloaded and opened Google Chrome, only to find everything appearing smaller than normal. Pretty much everything from the taskbar to the actual text on the screen is a good deal smaller than it should be. Text can be zoomed in on, but this does nothing for the taskbar, and I would rather not have to zoom in as this can upset the formatting on certain sites.
After doing some research online many recommend enabling HiDPI support off of chrome://flags. However, firstly I am uncertain whether my display is hiDPI, secondly when I go to the chrome://flags page the HiDPI support option was nowhere to be found.

From the two questions in this thread, it ends up as a one single topic because I figured out that they are both related.
there are two problems regarding to this software.
I want a fix to make these problems to not appear again.

1.My first problem is that when I click on the program other than Chrome, the other application never seem to switch or restore when the program is already opened.

I'll just put in a scenario. Google Chrome may work fine normally, until the time when I want to switch other programs when needed. Changing other programs in the taskbar doesn't respond at all. Clicking the icon twice, right click the icon then restore the window, or even using alt+tab doesn't switch.

Switching back to desktop seems to work, even changing other Google Chrome tabs by drag and make a different window. The exception is this window here.

2.My second problem is the taskbar showing up when I watch videos on fullscreen

Normally, it doesn't appear at all, but you know the what the problem is all about so I won't explain it in detail.

When will it appear?
These problems will only appear occasionaly. But I do know is that there is a higher chance to happen if I turn my laptop to sleep mode and turn back on. I use a laptop.

What can you really do if you want to give a solution to my problem?

You can ask me to download a different version of Google Chrome, but make sure that the version you give me is stable (I used Version 53.0.2785.89 m (64-bit)).Adjust windows settings... Read more

I use Google Chrome as my search engine.
I downloaded the program and have been using it since I got this computer about 5 weeks ago.

I had a shortcut on my desktop and one on my taskbar at the bottom.
I also had an app in my charm bar in the windows window in the bottom left or whatever the popup is being called now...

A couple of days ago the Chrome shortcut went from the familiar Google colors to a white, blank sheet of paper in the taskbar. I tried to reload it but I keep getting a message about an error code.

I tried to open the program from the programs file and create a shortcut for the desktop but I get the same error code.

I can still search with google using the blank piece of paper looking icon in the taskbar and I get google when I cut on the computer. But I want the shortcut and the familiar looking google colors back.

I was going to delete the program and reload it but I don't want to lose all the bookmarks I have already loaded.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Answer:Google Chrome Shortcut in Desktop/Taskbar won't load

Windows 10 Displaying Browser Ads in the Taskbar When Using Google Chrome

Ads in Windows 10 is quite a controversial topic, and we?ve seen many people accusing Microsoft of trying to promote apps (in most of the cases its own) by displaying nags here and there across the operating system.

And it looks like Redmond has found another way to annoy users, as popup ads are now displayed right on the Windows 10 taskbar as little popups that show up at random times.

Brad Chacos of PCWorld has posted a screenshot showing one of these popups, adding that he was using Google Chrome as the default browser ? this is what it?s believed might have triggered the ad anyway, as the main purpose should be to convince users to switch from third-party browsers to Edge.

Ad settings were reset
The popup is, in essence, a Microsoft Edge ad that?s trying to highlight some of the capabilities of the new browser, in this case, the Rewards tool. ?Wanna earn while you browse? Get free movies and games with Microsoft Edge. See how,? the ad that popped out from the Microsoft Edge icon in the taskbar reads.

What?s also very interesting is that Brad claims this happened on Windows 10 Pro (the version that?s the most often chosen by professionals) and despite the fact that he repeatedly disabled ad preferences in the Settings screen ? in a later tweet he adds that all options were reset to default, most likely by the Anniversary Update.

Microsoft hasn?t issued a statement on this,... Read more

I don't even know how to succinctly summarize this problem so I couldn't even google search it.

Both my PCs run Windows 10 Pro. On one of them, when you click a the Google Chrome taskbar button...the button disappears and becomes a Chrome program instance which you can raise and lower. That one seems to be working normally as that's how it always works for me on windows 10 pro on my various computers.

The other one however, remains static so when I click the Chrome icon....a new instance will open to the right where there were there are no icons, and the Chrome icon will remain in it's spot on the left. The problem is if I'm not careful I'll click the wrong one and I'll have 2 instances of chrome open. This happened several times until I realized why it was happening.

I don't want to Uninstall chrome because I just setup this computer and it was a pain in the neck getting all my content onto chrome. For some reason even tho it's "syncing" to my Chrome account none of the information was there such as autofill and passwords. So I had to get all my content back on there it would be a huge pain uninstalling and losing all that info.

How can I fix this?

Right clicking Google Chrome on my taskbar in Windows 10 isn't showing up with any options such as Incognito mode or my recent/common tabs. I recently refreshed my PC after having issues with Windows 10, before refreshing right clicking chrome only gave me incognito, no recent tabs section. I lived with it since it didn't bother me too much but now that I've refreshed it's gotten worse by giving me less options. I started having profile errors with Chrome on Sunday. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome but that didn't solve the problem. I managed to get rid of it by deleting the user and creating a new user. Then Chrome started launching a second icon from the taskbar. I've unpinned it/repinned it, pinned it to the taskbar from the Start menu and it still keeps doing it.

Any help would be appreciated,

Answer:Windows 7 taskbar creating double Google Chrome icons

I don't know if it will solve this problem, but generally I've found installed chrome has issues. What I did is unpack a chromium snapshot under a user folder. I use C:\Utils for small utilities that don't need to be installed. Not being under Program Files the Windows system doesn't mess with the folder. But that's an aside. If you get the chrome-win32.zip file instead of installer, then unzip it to a new folder while the old chrome is still installed on your system, it should automatically pick up your bookmarks and settings.

Once you have it running correctly, remove the installed chrome.

If you try any of the chromium snap shots, the bleeding edge new versions, it's a good idea to back up your AppData\Local\Chromium folder as well as the folder that has the exe(the one you unzipped into.) That way if you get a bug you can just copy the saved folder contents back over. I keep a save folder for each chromium major version number I try such as 21.x 22.x etc..

It sounds complicated but I've been running chromium from snap shot zip files for over a year. It's just as stable as the production version unless you encounter a big bug. I keep the zip files with the version and build embedded in the name. If I have to go back to a known working version and my backup folders got hosed I can just unzip.

If you have LastPass and use bookmark sync the only thing you might lose is extention updates(but even those should be good if your back up folder scheme is kept current.)

Hello, My name is Kati and Im new the the forums. Just got Windows 7 not to long ago . Anyways, I was wondering if someone can help with me a problem I have everytime I delete my browsing history to my pin websites on my taskbar. I recently had IE9 Beta and I didn't like it. I couldn't remove my browsing history from the address bar so I uninstalled IE9 and installed Google Chrome latest release (Not Beta). Everything works fine up untill I went to remove my browsing history today and clicked on one of my pin website on my taskbar and seen the little "Icon" was blank. It does this to all my website pinned icons aside from my Google Chrome icon. The only way to fix it is to open the pin website let it load for a second and close it. Then when I open the website again the Icon is back to normal. If I delete my history and DONT click on any of the pin website everything looks to be okay. You need to create new identities in Outlook Express. If you look in Help in OE it will give info on adding/ managing these. You will need to set up the individual mail accounts in each identity. To add a new identityOn the File menu, point to Identities, and then click Add New Identity. Type the name of the new user. If you want to include a password for this identity, select the Require a password option, and then enter a password. Outlook Express asks you if you want to log on as the new user. If you answer yes, you will be prompted for information about your Internet connection. If you answer no, the current user remains logged on.

My 250 gig hard drive has 3 separate user accounts; mine (admin) Clare and Lauren. Why is it when I install a program on mine, it appears on their's? I thought with 3 separate accounts programmes would stay separated. Forgive my ignorance or naivety for asking this, not too many sarcastic comments for what may appear a rubbish question.

Answer:separate user accounts

Hello Skeletor,

When programs are installed on the computer, they are installed for all users to access unless the program has a option during installation to select what users can use the program.

You can remove the program's shortcut from the All Users Start menu and C:\Users\Public\Desktop locations to not have it there for the other user accounts, but they can still access it by default in the C:\Program Files folder.

You can also change the permission level of the program's exe file to Deny access for a specific user to. You can use this tutorial below as a guide for this. Be sure not to deny all users or your user account to prevent blocking access for you as well.

Folder Permissions

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I have Windows Vista, and want to set up 2 separate email accounts. Right now, I have Incredimail as my email default, and my husband has Windows Mail. I want to know how to set him up so that he gets his emails separately. At this point, all the inbox messages are coming to the Incredimail account.

Answer:2 Separate email accounts

It never ends,

Setup your husband's account in Windows Mail (you will need to know the appropriate email server names and account information) then remove his account from IncrediMail.

Add or remove a Windows Mail account

Edit or remove an existing email account in IncrediMail

You can use IncrediMail to access your emails and he can use Windows Mail to access his emails and never the twain shall meet (your emails, not you and your husband)

First time posting, nice site you have here!

My wife has an ipod and itunes version that is before the current version 7. She tried updating to version 7 with horrible results.

Since then, she is getting me an ipod for Christmas and itunes recommends separate user accounts to keep our accounts separate. I have plugged my new nano in and it says it requires version 7 of itunes.

My question is, can I download version 7 in my user and leave the previous version alone on the 'family' user?

Answer:Separate User accounts in XP

software version is system wide, not account only.

So, no.

Im sure it reccomended separate accounts to keep you from mixing your music with everyone else's.

I have just gotten a new computer and it's running Windows 7 O/S. I decided to try the Windows Live Mail and like it for the most part. Many similarities to Outlook. My question; I have two accounts set up for my email, one personal and one for business. However all of my emails show up in both accounts. How can I separate them so that the emails only go to the correct addressee????

Thanks for the help.....

Jim

Answer:How To Separate Two Live Mail Accounts

If you added both email accounts to Live Mail, select the appropriate email account instead of the "all in box" selection.

Hi all, this is just my 2nd post, but the first was a good experience and this appears to be a great forum.

My question, I'm sure for many of you, will seem rather ignorant. I'm really PC-savvy, I even build my own systems, and have used MS Office from when it first came out, and I've used Win7 Pro 64 for over a year.

I have used Outlook for a very long time, since the 2003 version was first available. But, I have always only used it for one email account. Right now, it only brings in email from my Gmail account.

I would like to add 3 or 4 other accounts . . . but I want Outlook to treat them totally separate. I don't want mail from all accounts dumped into one Inbox, and I want a completely different .PST file for each account.

Having said all that, I know there must be a way to do it. But the big problem is, like most MS products, they have a knack for providing instructions that just don't quite clarify things the way they should be.

All helpful comments/advice welcome and appreciated !

Thanks in advance,
Dave G.

Answer:Separate pop3 email accounts

1. create a second identity, associate one account with each identity

2. message rule - create a message rule that all mail to [email protected] goes into a specific folder (and create the folder first)

I'd like to set up individual NIC settings per account in XP, something like this:

Account 1 - At Home
NetBios disabled
DNS disabled
DHCP disabled
IP configured static

Account 2 - Away From Home
NetBios enabled
DNS disabled
DHCP enabled
IP Obtain IP Auto - DNS set to OpenDNS servers

It seems it's one setting for all accounts in XP. Is this possible to do and if so, how?

Thank you!

TCP/IP is not configured by user accounts. You can setup switching like what your asking a number of ways.

Scripting -

If your not into scripting you can use a program such as - btw these are examples not endorsements I don't know how well these function.

Open g-mail, on top right hand corner you will see a sign out button press that, then re-load the page, it will ask you for user name and password

I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 still running XP that has an administrator account, as well as a guest account (where the important docs I need are stored). It has a faulty DC jack, and I plan on having it recycled due to the fact the repair would cost more than the computer is worth. If I remove the hard drive and put it in a USB housing, would I be able to access the info stored under the guest account without any problems?

I have a personal Lumia 930 and a work Lumia 830. Is there any disadvantage or advantage to using separate microsoft accounts for them? I don't currently have a OneDrive for business account and don't plan to. While I'd like access to my onedrive stuff on both phones I don't for instance want text messages sent to my personal phone to appear on my work phone etc. Anyone had experience with either scenario and can shed any light on the subject?

I share a computer with my family, and I have my own user account on it. It's an administrative account on Vista Home Premium.

Basically, I'm completely infuriated by all the pointless updates to Firefox 3 and I want to downgrade to Firefox 2. I'd like to leave F3 on the family's account, since they probably don't mind it.

However, I can't seem to figure out how to install or uninstall one version of Firefox onto one account and leave the other, et cetera. I seem to recall being able to do this on XP, where different users were given their own Program Files folder. Is there any way to do something like this on Vista?
P.S. Another reason I would like to find an answer for this dilemma is because my family uses Avira AntiVir, which pops up upgrade advertisements almost daily, and I'd very much like to get rid of it and install AVG on my account. Again, is this possible on Vista?

Answer:Installing programs on separate user accounts

All you need to do is run the installation program and when it asks where to install the program, do not use the default, instead install it in a folder in C:\Users\<username>
e.g C:\Users\Otheruser\Firefox and make sure icon goes on their desktop and not the All Users desktop.

In outlook 2007 I have 3 email accounts; gmail, hotmail and business email. At the moment the business email and gmail accounts are grouped under personal folders so both mails go in to the same inbox. In hotmail there are separate folders (inbox, sent, junk etc) and it is under my hotmail email address. How can I group them so they have their separate folders and are listed under their own names in a particular order ie:Business email:InboxOutbox Sent itemsGmail:InboxOutbox Sent itemsHotmailInboxOutbox Sent items

Answer:Show email accounts under separate inboxes

You can create 3 new folders - business e-mail, gmail and hotmail and then set up message rules so that each incoming e-mail is sorted by addresz into the right folder.I do this with my accounts. I have sub folders under inbox but it should work for folders listed under personal.

Couldn't word the title in a way that made a lot of sense, but here is my problem. Me and my girlfriend share a windows 8 laptop and have separate user accounts. As things currently are, anytime I install a program on my account, it also installs it on hers. In the case of when these programs also create an icon or shortcut on my desktop, it does on her's as well. When my girlfriend tries to delete these shortcuts on her desktop, it also deletes them from the desktop on my account. So my question is:

Is there a way to create user accounts, in which each user may install whatever they please (games and programs. obviously not referring to windows updates and such) without either user affecting the other. If not, at the very least is there a way in which we can arrange our desktops without affecting the other's. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

I've recently set up two new user accounts on XP Pro. One for me (which is an administrators account) and one for my brother (which is a limited account).

In his account, he's unable to access shared folders or the network drive (Z. Is there any way of making certain folders accessible to him without changing his account to an Administrator's account - he tends to use the account over a Virtual Private Network so I don't want to give him admin access for security reasons.

While I'm on the subject, is this the best way for us to share content? We're a business partnership that has recently begun working in separate locations. Is a VPN the best way for us to access each other's network files, or are we missing something obvious?

Thanks!

Answer:Sharing folders/drives between separate user accounts

You can right click on the folders you want him to have access to and change the security settings. Right clickm the folder and go to settings. Go to the security tab and you can add all users to have full access or just had his local user account to have full access to the folder. Hope this helps.

Hello. A friends' laptop became infected with Internet Security 2010. I followed directions according to this tutorial:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...t-security-2010The malware seemed to have been removed. But a day after I returned the laptop to my friend, he that his User Account seemed to work fine, but that his wife's User Account was still showing signs of infection. So I re-scanned using his wife's User Account, and sure enough, there were signs of lingering infection. I then followed the same steps from the page linked above for the wife's User Account and now all seems fine.My question- do viruses/Malware usually have to be removed from ALL User Accounts? I had assumed that running anti-malware fixes did not depend on which User Accounts were being used at the time.Any enlightenment into this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

I searched and found many posts about multi-monitor taskbars, but none that address what I am trying to do.

Left Monitor: Quicklaunch bar
Middle Monitor: Start button and application taskbar
Right Monitor: Systray

Is there any 3rd party app that will do that?

I know I can easily extend the whole taskbar across all monitors, but that doesn't do what I want. Ultimately 3 separate completely modular taskbars (where you drag different components to them) would be nice.

Answer:App to *Separate* Taskbar to Three Monitors?

You can have 3 separate taskbars, but they will only show the applications that are on that monitor. I know that's not what you seek. Have a look anyway, there is a free version with less options.

The taskbar always attaches similar applications, placing them next to each other, and moving one always moves the other as well:

Can I get rid of this behavior and make each application move by its own?

Apologies if this was asked, I searched and couldn't find anything here.

Answer:How to separate similar applications in the taskbar?

Hi @omega09, welcome to tenforums!

I don't think you can disable that behavior.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe moving one of the instances to another 'virtual desktop'.

So far I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled all the browser addons and questionable apps I found on there PC. Since updating the BIOS it hasn't crashed to blue screen. I've tried multiple anti-everything programs from Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, Spybot S&D, and various online scans that have found nothing, or found something but never fully cleaned my system. For a week or two, Google was being redirected to various ad sites, but after my system was "cleaned" everything was fine. Now today, anything remotely related to Google won't load at all. I've tried to manually remove the TDSS google-redirecting virus, but I have none of the files that supposedly come along with the virus.

I have nicely pinned all my key stuff (Google Calendar, Gmail, google maps, etc. to the Win10 taskbar, but everything I open opens in Chrome.
If I click my iTunes taskbar-icon then iTunes opens and its taskbar-icon brightens and a little blue bar appears on its taskbar's bottom edge--iTunes opens FROM the iTunes icon.
If I click Google Calendar, G-mail, maps, etc., these icons remain black, and all this opened windows just stack up in Chrome very messily.
The intention was to have them open in Chrome but FROM their taskbar-icon, so they're nice and neat and separate and always right there conveniently.
How can I make pinned-to-taskbar stuff open from its own taskbar icon and not from Chrome?

On both my Windows 10 home PC and work computer, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker causes duplicate buttons on the taskbar of Chrome that turn invisible:

As you can see in the image, there are two blank icons in front of the Chrome icon. Both of these are working and open Chrome when I click on them, except they're invisible. The only way I'm able to fix this is to restart explorer.exe whenever it happens. I've only ever had this happen with Chrome. Is this a bug with 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, or perhaps maybe caused by the settings I use? Are there any known workarounds?

Answer:7+ Taskbar Tweaker duplicate blank taskbar icons for Chrome

No problems with these settings (I've made no changes except I use this for scrolling volume control).

You have Grouping settings different... and have hidden the Peek button- and as you can see from my specs, mine is the Anniversary build.

I thought I'd uninstall the google piece and reload it but it says when I go into the uninstall programs to close all of windows to do this. I'm stumped as to how to close windows and need assistance.
If anyone thinks I should try a different approach to fix this issue, I'd appreciate a comment or two.

Every time I open Google Chrome on my computer it opens an additional 5 tabs that I have to close out with an error message. The message it give is as follows:

Your profile could not be opened correctly. Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permissions to read and write its contents.

Unsure why this just started and I never made any changes to my profile.Does anyone know how to reset a profile to prevent all the tabs from coming up each time I open Google Chrome.

Whenever you want to add a site you just click the star and it makes it go to my favorites bar. Is there a way I can make a folder instead of adding a website so I can add a couple of folders with genres instead of having 100+ favorite icons on the favorites bar? maybe a drop-down to all the website occurs when you put your mouse over the folder...

Answer:[SOLVED] google chrome fav bar

i do not use crome but on exployer you can go to the favorite and right click and make a folder and drag and drop the links into it. not sure if crome is the same way. hope someone that uses crome can give you a better answer.

i keep getting message GOOGLE CHROME UNRESPONSIVE how do i overcome this it's nagging me

Answer:[SOLVED] google chrome

I've been having problems with Google lately so i scoured the web for a solution and some people have been talking about 'silent updates' and that the latest update is buggy some say its about having loads of things on your favorites bar but you could try reinstalling chrome and if you have a Google account don't link to chrome again and see how it goes

I hope this helps :)

Hi everyone

I have looked through the forum and all I have seen on Google Chrome is that it stated peoples opinion, so here is my query.

I recently down loaded Google Chrome to see what features it had as it had been a while since I looked at it before and it had hardly anything there in the way of options or tools etc.

I did find a page where you can down load all sorts of add-ons, would anyone know how much more this would add to your downloads if you are on a limited Internet? (as in 7 gig per month after that is slows to dial up speeds this is a wireless account)

I have since taken it off my computer as I had to keep going back to IE, some of my programs e.g. Snagit integrate with IE, is it possible to integrate that and other programs with Google Chrome? I cannot seem, to find an option to do this.

Also do we have to click on a heap of web sites to get favourites back I cannot see where we can add saved favourites to Google Chrome, like we can with IE as in just importing the favorites.

I do make an effort to update myself by looking periodically till these things update enough for me to use them, without adding on a million add-ons.

I am wondering now if trying to update myself web wise is not the thing for me to do at this point.

Any answers to my queries concerning Google Chrome would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Beanie

Answer:Solved: Google Chrome

I think you're pretty much dead on. Addons add to complexity and reduce speed in general. I really like Chrome for what it is; speedy and secure (handles potential security issues very nicely) with flash built in, but when it comes to customization and options...ufff, its not made for serious power browsing with dozens and dozens of tabs.
It's the perfect YouTube browser.

Before, whenever I launched my Chrome browser, it opened and the search bar you could type in, I really liked that. But now whenever I launch a browser, it shows the last 8 webpages that I've visited, I don't like. Can't finger out how to change it back. I went into settings and tried putting in https://www.google.com as my default start page, but it still loads showing the other pages that I've visited. PLEASE, can anyone tell me how I can make my Chrome Browser load with just Google and the Search bar. I've attached to screen shots so that you can see what I'm talking about. Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.

Doug

Answer:Solved: Google Chrome

Customize and Control button (upper right). Settings > 'On Start up' > Open a specific page or set of pages > Set Pages

Make sure you only have the one page (e.g. Google Search page) as the start up page you want.

I think you'll find that you have numerous pages as your start up page(s) for some reason. Or, maybe you once had Chrome's 'Speed Dial' extension and disabled or removed it, which left the 8 web pages shown in your first image (that somewhat resembles the Chrome 'Speed Dial' extension add-on.

Last night I received a request to update to a more recent version of adobe. When I clicked on it Google chrome was piggy backed on the download.

Now when I open anything from outlook it goes to this google chrome which does not know any of my passwords. I also cant find a bookmark icon on it. I dont think I want it.

Should I work with it a bit or get rid of it?

If number two how do I rid myself of Google chrome?

Thanks

It would appear the the chrome browser bumped out firefox when it installed. I have now set firefox a default and the passwords etc have returned.

Any point to this google chrome?

Answer:[SOLVED] google chrome

Hi kiwi2000,

Google Chrome is a very good browser and has been my main browser for the past 4 years now. The reason this happened is probably due to the install process of the program you installed, where there was probably a checkbox (download and use Chrome as default browser) that you may have missed during the installation.
You can uninstall Chrome is you wish via Add/ Remove (Programs and Features) in the Control Panel.

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I recently downloaded the Google chrome browser. And now when I try to open a streaming radio station , a download file option pops up. If I hit save and open it , it has only downloaded the prerecorded intro to the station. I've looked and looked but can't find anyway to disable it (if thats what I'm supposed to be doing in the first place). Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

An install of Google Crhome browser is apparantly recording cookies while the Google Chrome browser itself is not being used;  the cookies seem to be of webpages and sites that other people in this location visit through another browser.  This makes me thing that the Google Chrome browser sneaks information from the user of other browsers on the computer, and this makes me wonder, what more is being done with this set of cookies lifted from the other browser?

This cannot be normal; is it?

Every day, I come to the particular computer with google chrome on it, open history, see the cookies listed, delete them, and only use the browser in Incognito mode.  No cookies recorded during any of my usage sessions.  Later, after other people who never use Chrome use the computer, go online (with Internet Explorer), makes their website visits, and then finish; when I come back to use the computer again and go online in incognito mode on Chrome, ... there again are more cookies listed, and mostly from sites that I did not visit.

This just seems like it should not be happening.  Tell me about it?

IE 11, Firefox 33, Google Chrome 38
Norton 360;
Windows 7.

Answer:Google Chrome records cookies without running Google Chrome

What content settings is ticked for Cookies? I frequently use Chrome Browser so I must need to observe the behavior you were referring to as cookie populated on All cookies and site data if this is what you were referring to(?).

I am going crazy,

This will take some explaining. For the longest time I was able to keep my old Google account and You Tube account as separate and distinct entities. Today, I had to sign out of You Tube. But when I signed back into You Tube, it is linking me to my Google Docs account and I don't want to do that!!!! Do I have to log in and out of Google/You Tube each time to keep the identities separate? This is NUTS!

Jack

Answer:Is There ANY WAY to Unlink Google Accounts From You Tube Accounts?

I don't think that there is.....apparently YT and Google formed a partnership a while back. I just dealt with it.

That said, you can read this.

Hi,

The image below shows my current taskbar when I open a window that has a quick-launch icon (e.g. Opera) as you can see it combines the window and the quick-launch icon together however I would like it to create a separate taskbar item rather than doing this. Would this be possible? Are there any programs that fix this? Sorry if this seems like a vague question but it's quite hard to explain when I can't actually show what I want it to look like.

Thanks .

Answer:Separate quick-launch icons on the taskbar with active windows.

Sounds like you need to right-click the Taskbar, click Properties then on the Taskbar tab make a change in the Taskbar buttons: section.

Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing a curious issue when signing into Gmail in a new tab from within Chrome. The sign in goes as expected, however when I sign out of Gmail I am still signed into general Google Services in the 1st tab.

1). Right Click on Gmail menu item...

2). Sign into Gmail

3). Within Gmail I see that I am signed in (as expected)

4). After checking my email I sign out...

5). Returning to the original tab (and pressing F5) reveals that I am still logged into Google

What I would like to see is that I am no longer signed in at all...

Basically whilst Chrome appears to be able to sign me in "across the board" (e.g.: in all open tabs), it doesn't seem to be signing me out "across the board", instead it only "signs me out" of the current tab.

Not surprisingly this is not an issue with either Firefox or Internet Explorer, so I figure that there is something programmatic happening behind "the curtains" of Chrome.

If anybody knows of a way to sign out of Google across all open tabs in Chrome please let me know

Kind Regards,

Davo

Answer:Curious issue with Chrome when signing into Gmail in a separate tab

You would have to open gmail in a new window not a new tab/ new session.
Google's setting are some what limited/ pretty much why I don't use chrome anymore.

Try this with Google Chrome,.. I can't guarantee it but it's worth a try.

Click the spanner symbol at top right corner of Google Chrome browser. Then click "options" > "under the hood" tab > "change proxy settings" > "Lan settings" > and check the box, "automatically detect settings" > OK

Hi, it's me again

First, I'm not sure if I'm posting this thread in the correct category, because it also belongs in 'software'. So if it should rather be there, mes excuses.

So, I'm using Google Chrome on my Laptop (Dell Studio - Windows 7) for several years now, and I haven't had any problem with it. But now (version 23.0.1271.95 m) I suddenly have several problems:

- Some pictures don't show up anymore, and I just see the background (eg. http://livedemo00.template-help.com/wordpress_40115/)
- Some links stopped working (eg. the 'read more' link on posts on Facebook)
- Some sites don't load (eg. all sites made on wix.com)
- Some sites get stuck when scrolling

And the problems seem to get even worse every day

Those problems don't occur in other browsers (like Firefox), but I would love to keep using Chrome. However Re-installing Chrome doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Solved: Google Chrome problem

Check and see if Google Chrome has any updates. uninstall it and then shut down your computer and then reinstall it again.

Hello,

Is there a way or plugin I can install for Google Chrome that will put the tabs next to the URL bar like IE9?

Thanks.

Answer:[SOLVED] Google Chrome - Put Tabs next to URL

I guess yours are directly above. You can move them to the side and display them vertically: Move Your Tabs to the Side in Google Chrome for Widescreen-Friendly Browsing
but probably what would deter what you're trying to do is that IE has incorporated the search function with the address bar, leaving room to the right of it. Google has a long address bar and already takes up space to its right with the symbols.

Dear Friends,

I have recently started using Google Chrome as my Browser instead of Internet Explorer. When I used I.E. I had an add-on called Canon Easy Web Print which was very useful when you only wanted to print off part of a web page. After making enquiries it would appear that this add-on only works with I.E. and not Chrome.

I have searched the print options on Chrome itself but could not see any facility for printing only part of a page. I wonder please whether any kind person has any suggestions as to how you can print off a selected area on a web page using Chrome.

Thank You,

Red Cloud

Windows 7 printing to wireless Canon MG6350. I can print from Internet Explorer 11 but when printing from Goggle Chrome either website or email I only get the option to print to file or save to .pdf. It used to print ok.

Tried to uninstall Google Chrome (to reinstall) but message = Please close all Google Chrome windows and try again. Did a restart to ensure no windows open but got the same message.

I think I need to turn off the print to file option in Google Chrome but cannot find where.
