Question: Emails sent through Gmail bouncing back from certain domain

I have my own domain - filmhamster.com. I access "[email protected]" through my central gmail account (I have quite a few different addresses all forwarded to one account) using POP3 andsend emails via mail.filmhamster.com.Recently I have been getting replies bounce back to me from, as far as I can tell, just one domain. I haven't made any changes and used to email them with no problems.I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on my end or theirs.

Anyone know a way to set IE to bounce Emails back to certain people ( 3 )? It would be handy if I could also read them without them ever knowing. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to send emails to "[email protected]". Every email I send takes 24 hours to get bounced back. I tried pinging their IP and I'm getting no replies. This would lead to believe that it's their firewall that's blocking me. any ideas....

We have one email address that keep sending this back as it has blocked emails from our account: host MX.cogeco.ca [216.221.81.26]: 554 Service unavailable; Client host [195.92.168.141] blocked using rbl-plus.mail-abuse.org. Occasionally we get directed to SORBS but i dont understand it from there.We were originally with BT, they said it was the recipient that was blocking it, the recipient tech support says it is our smtp causing the problem. We moved to Tesco and now freeserve and it is still happening, has anyone any suggestions as neither our IP or the recipient IP is taking responsibility? Occasionally things do go through. Cheers

Hi... I'm in help desk in my company. We're having an issue with emails sent to Hotmail, they're being rejected. Microsoft answered, via website:

"Welcome to Microsoft Community. We understand how important for you to be able to send an email to Microsoft accounts from your domain account.

You need to get in touch with the Microsoft Sender Support Team. They have to fill out the e-form that can be found on the following link to solve your issue with the error code 550 SC-002 where your emails sent from your domain to Microsoft Account rejected for policy reasons.

If you are the 3rd party Domain Administrator:

... but the problem is that mails sent to Gmail are being rejected too... So I suppose that our servers are being considered as spammers, for the time being, for some reason. Is there a workaround to this without having to contact either Hotmail or Gmail? That's dealing with obnoxious bureaucrats... if you ever can get a hold of them...

I have had an ntl broadband connection for over a year, and everything works well - except about a month ago I started getting 'Mail System Error - returned mail' messages, saying 'Your message was not delivered within 4 days. Host xxxx is not responding.'This has been happening with a specific number of addresses I normally send to (previously without problems), but not to all - the addresses 'targeted' by this fault are mostly btinternet, but one is an ntlhome address! None of these people are having difficulty receiving from others, and I am receiving from them OK.It's hopeless trying to get information out of ntl - can anyone suggest what might be going on, or even suggest a possible fix?

Hi cag, I've only just found out that NTL are having problems with their servers, particularly after 5.00pm.I can send e-mails all the day but come tea-time and it either takes a very long time to upload or it keeps asking for your username and password.Their Correct Connect program which everybody seems to dislike can tell you that your computer is OK, the connection is OK but their applications (servers) are not OK.i spent an hour the other night checking and re-checking my password and other details to no avail.I also believe (from the FE) that AOL have a similar problem with a too vicious anti-spam program which they installed and this causes bounced e-mails.We'll just have to wait until they sort themselves out, I guess!

I have several email accounts linked to my outlook and live accounts but all messages I tried to send from any of these recently are being bounced back with the following return message and no explanation -

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed."

When I send an AOL email from my AOL browser it works fine but when I use another browser via Outlook it bounces back.

I've started getting a lot of messages from System Administrator apparently saying an email is undeliverable but they are emails that I haven't sent to email addresses that I do not know. Could this be a virus?

In many cases things like this are incoming spam mail trying to get you to click on things so they can confirm your email address or just to annoy you. Look at the source address of the email to see who it is from. But note that even that can be faked.

If you want to be sure that you do not have malware, the below procedure should be followed but right now I just suspect it is spam mail.


Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

I use a MacBook, iPad and iPhone, and have an AOL email address. Suddenly, emails from friends who have hotmail email addresses are bouncing back. I have talked to AOL, Apple, and my internet provider (AT and T) who all say the problem is with Hotmail. When I try to reach tech support, I get the runaround from people in India who want to charge me $50 to unblock hotmail addresses. I am beyond frustrated. Can anyone help? Thanks!

On Tuesday morning I opened up Outlook on my workstation and found 150 emails sent from the same person at the same company. Apparently the same email went to 250 other companies on their email list. One unfortunate person replied to the email and I started to receive his email repeatedly. Each day about 150 emails hit my inbox from this poor guy as well as several emails from the original perpetrators. I've just had a call from one of the other companies that was affect, saying that my Server(2003) is bouncing back emails and excasserbating the problem and that eventually this will cause my Server to crash. How do I stop the specific email coming in and bouncing back out?

I’m really, really hoping that someone can help me as I’m at my wits end with an email problem. My apologies for the long text.
About 6 – 8 weeks ago, I started to hear from some friends that emails that they were sending to me were bouncing back with error messages. I didn’t think much of this, until about 4 weeks ago, when I realised that some important emails from clients were also not arriving…….as you can imagine a nightmare scenario for anyone in business.
I was able to retrieve a copy of the error message from one of my clients and a friend, who both sent these messages to my wife’s account. My wife also couldn’t send these onto me, with the body of the message in the email as these would bounce back to my wife’s account, but after she’d pasted the error message into a word document, she was able to email these onto me, with the word document attached to the email.
I then took this up with ‘Network Solutions’, who hold my domain name/email account to check if they were blocking some of the emails coming to me or if they were being put in a spam folder. The first person that I spoke to checked over the email error messages that I sent to them and told me that this was a known problem that ‘Network Solutions’ were having with ‘Spamcop’. She said that I could add the email addresses to a white list and they should then arrive. I told her that this was not at all ideal... Read more

Your issue does appear to be with Spamcop / Network solutions as e-mails are not arriving at your server.
Is there a setting on your account with Network solutions to forward e-mail if so try setting up a hotmail account and set to forward mail to that address. This might work, it depends at what point the incoming mail is getting flagged as spam and bounced.

This morning emails I am sending to hotmail accounts I use every day are being bounced back with the message :"550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems." There is nothing different from usual about the eemails I am sending. What is going on please?

Hi Aroominyork, it is possible the mail server you use for sending mail has been added to a black list which is now causing you issues.

You need to find the IP of your SMTP server (which you can find probably in the returned emails), if not then copy and paste the contents of one of the returned emails here and we should be able to find it.

When you have the IP, try typing it in here and see what results you get.

I have read previous threads and can't seem to find the solution.

I am running an Exchange Server 2010 on a Server 2008 R2. I have a BT Broadband Connection with a firewalled router and my domain hosted with a hosting company.My Exchange Server was set up by an IT Consultant who I can't get hold of anymore. This is a new installation and no previous server existed.

I can send inbound mail but cannot recieve any mail. BT told me my router IP address which I gave to my domain hosting company who set up a pointer. I cannot recieve any mail now via pop email or exchange. Emails are being bounced back from apparantley my server. Snippet is below. I have run the Exchange Connectivity Tools and some errors come up which I dont know how to resolve. Please can someone give me a step by step fix guide as I am losing a lot of important emails.

Love to help on this, but we are on exchange 2003. Though, soon we will be on exchange 2010 in about a month or so. I know this won't help, but sounds like perhaps a DNS issue.

So, from what you stated, internal mail works? Sending mail to the outside works? Sending mail from like gmail to your domain does not?

Hello,

I have noticed on many occassions that when people send me an email to our business email account it says something like -

"[email protected] on behalf of Joe Blogs <[email protected]"

How do people do this?

I can see one advantage of doing this because I could use any computer or mobile device to log into my Gmail account and check my business emails. Our current set up would require me to lug around my laptop.

Does this have something to do with the domain mapping options?

Are there any disadvantages to doing it this way? Will the original email still 'live' on our business server so it can be retrieved via Outlook 2010?

Any help or direction would be appreciated!

I changed the SMTP as of my domain and as of my ISP but none of them seems to be working. I have 4 different emails configured in MS Outlook and I cant send email from any of the account.

I am sending emails to my colleagues with same domain in the email and still the emails are bouncing.

Please help me as I cant send any email.

We use a third party to host our email publication lists. Previousy, when we would send out a publication, I'd usually see a handful of bounced messages in the bounce report. On March 6th some time between 9:30am and 11:00am about half of our clients (from various different companies) started bouncing our publications sent from the listserver (emails sent from from our exchange server, which has a different IP address, are going through just fine). I checked our domain name on the blacklist lookup through MXtoolbox and we got the all clear. I then looked up the IP address for our listserver and it did return one blacklisting with Sorbs, but that appeared to have been listed some time ago. I got Sorbs to delist the IP address. They confirmed the delisting on Tuesday around 1:00pm. I understand that it can take some time for DNS to refresh and propagate around the internet, but it is now Friday and I'm still seeing the same number of bounces.

In the bounce reports under bounce reasons, I'm seeing either a blank space, "Spam," or "service unavailable."

I have a trouble ticket open with the company that hosts our listserver, but so far they haven't been much help. I'm also talking to a couple of network administrators on the receiving end, but due to the sheer volume of the bounces, I don't know how I could reach out to all of our client's IT folks, but I'm hoping someone could shed some light on what changed on March... Hi! I'm newly registered her but have been here before and found great information.
I have searched and read previous posts on the AOL issues and luckily I got rid of them many years ago.
My question is this. Has anyone ever heard of having to PAY AOL to keep your server off of their blacklist? I'm on another forum (a local club that I'm a board member of) and the guy that set it up says that he's going to ban aol users because of the bouncing and that they refuse to pay AOL to keep it from happening. Being a club and it being one of the ways we communicate, the board members don't want to ban anyone. I'm pretty much all over the net on different groups and have never heard of this.

It's not just AOL that is doing this (from what I've heard). I've read that several internet providers are charging companies to give "priority" to their email, to bypass normal spam filters, etc....

About 3-4 weeks ago people started calling saying their emails to me were bouncing back as undeliverable.

Issues
1. Emails to me are intermittenly bouncing back to the senders. Not good!
2. Pages change slowly in my browsers
3. Delayed mouse clicks, (intemitten)
4. Programs open slowly. Sometimes they do not appear on my screen, so I try to open them again and get a message that that program is open...where is the question. then I go to System manger turn off the program and re-open. that usually works.

I'm running a scan with a fresh download of MBAM right now, it could take a while.

I have a problem with my email that I can't figure out and hope that someone here can shed some light for me.

Here's the problem:

A few weeks ago I found that a site that I am subscribed to for daily email notifications to play trivia suddenly stopped. Then, a few days later (June 16th) I received a message from Brink that my email notifications here were bouncing back. (I am subscribed to the Funny You Tube Videos thread.) Funny thing is, I did receive a notification from his PM that my emails were bouncing yet I didn't receive any from those who had posted to the Funny You Tube Video thread just 6 days ago even though I did change my email for this site to an alternate email client on the 16th of June and did receive a notification from Brink at the new email address after I had changed it and I did get a notification from my friend here that I sent a message to a few days ago at that new address yet still, non from those who had posted in the Funny Video thread. Weird huh?!?!

Since I was notified about my emails bouncing, I've realized that I am not getting emails from my daughters school newsletters either. If it were just one domain that this was happening to I'd say it was them. What really confuses me is that I get notifications from PM's here but not from threads!! I'm curious to see if I get one from this thread at the new email client.

My ISP is Pipex, and I also use a domain name that forwards to my Pipex address.I've been having problems today sending an email to a friend who uses hotmail: within a minute my mail bounces back with this message :"5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Hi folks,

I had bouncing emails which I believe I tracked down to fact I was using a domain forwarder and email forwarder, which added its own server IP address to email headers. Then when about 2 or 3 mths ago every ISP in the land (UK) switched on SPF, my own ISP's SPF blocked out a lot of email that was addressed for me, on the basis that it was spam (my ISP told me this happened if it came from another company that ran SPF, or whose ISP ran SPF, because my ISP's SPF would be able to do a lookup of domain vs. IP address, and lo-and-behold, any email that had been forwarded now looked like spam !).

Very annoying - lost lots of client and candidate emails without knowing...
I was told the problem was that I was using email forwarding - no surprise I suppose - even my untrained eye could tell that email forwarding is a bit of a hack...

Anyhow, what I did was move my domain hosting in-house with my ISP so its properly hosted and I no longer need any domain forwarding or email forwarding, which I'm told should fix the problem.

BUT - how can I be sure it has ? is there any sort of diagnostic I can run or check I can do ?

..would hate to lose another 2 mths email - would probably put me out of bizness

I belong to several groups, mainly under the Yahoo banner and use both a hotmail address and others with my ISP. Out of the blue in the last week I've received notices that messages to me and in one case one from me have been bounced and my Yahoo groupmembership deactivated. I have made no alterations to anything email or my AV program wise but wonder if there may be someting in the AV program that could be causing the difficulty. Soetimes I post as a reply from OEx or hotmail and other times via a group's pages in Yahoo.

It's been like this for a week. All i get is a message saying Attention bounced message notification. couldn't recieve becuase your mailbox would go over quota. It gives me the senders email address so i can reply via another account - marvelous. It's a new machine with under 3meg in the Outlook personal folders. I thought it might be a problem with ntl but no-one else is getting this. running xp pro.Any ideas?Cheers.

I have a .cvs file generated from Excel of 70 contacts including their emails. I think I have successfully imported them into a separate Contacts folder that I created (BDHG Contacts). They all look mapped correctly and properly formatted when I scroll through the BDGH Contacts view. I then created a Distribution List using all 70 email contacts. When I send to the list I usually get about 12 email notifications from the Sys Admin. They all say:
"The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

SMITH on
The recipient has been deleted or has no e-mail address."
FYI I use Gmail Imap. I know the email addresses are good ones. Any idea of how to fix this?

The obvious question: has a particular contact been individually verified by message only to it, could be their ISP has the problem. I've had to do that with a list of contacts used by my class reunion newsletter, last time had 5 problems but only 1 was a true issue.

Such a problem can also exist when an ISP thinks the message is SPAM when sending to larger lists.

For several months now I receive "bounced" email messages from a variety of people. The problem is, I am NOT sending the emails that are bouncing back to me, but everyone of these people (who I do NOT know) think I am sending them and I am getting back some fairly harsh responses.

The offending sender seems to be someone from a company called "cura heat patch", but when I try to contact them the emails will not go through.

This morning I tried to reply to one of their messages, and unfortunately it seems to have gone to dozens of people instead of them, and now I have alot more people cranking at me to stop sending them messages, when in fact I am not.

What could be causing this? and do you have any suggestions on how to stop it?

I've had the same email address for years and would like to keep it. It's a Yahoo email. I accidentally signed up for something a long time ago which is a 'no no'. I have 2 emails and usually have one for regular and one for spam but I messed up and now have spam coming to my regular email.
With Yahoo everything has been going into the spam folder just fine with the occasional one that ends up in the inbox, But I hate having spam constantly coming to that email because if I get an important email message that accidentally goes into spam I have to search and find it threw the 60+ spam emails I get daily.
I recently downloaded MailWasher and got the pro version on a free trial and I have been using the bounce back feature hoping that if I bounce back enough spam emails they will remove me from the list assuming my email address has been deleted. So far I've had it not even a week but I wanted to ask is using the bounce back feature a good idea? Does it really work? Or is there anything else I can do to remove my email from spam lists or make the spammers believe my email address has been deleted even though it hasn't.

I would really really really want to keep this email address so please don't reply with "delete your email and create a new one" because I really don't want to have to do that. I'll live with having spam than deleting the email address.

The return address is usually that of an innocent person. You may be sending back mail to someone that considers it spam.

I can't send any emails from Pipex to any Hotmail account. The "bounce" message reads:"5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems."We can receive emails from Hotmail, and Hotmail to Hotmail is OK (we've tested it), and a friend who uses btinternet for her emails has no problem getting emails to Hotmail (we've tested that too!).I suspect this has got to be sorted out between the ISPs, it seems that Hotmail doesn't like Pipex (not surprising, neither do we in recent times; our Pipex days are probably now numbered). Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer any comments or solutions?

Assuming you are using Outlook, you need to tick the box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", under more settings in account settings.

OK I am baffled....IE 7 loads up ok but when I try to go to a different site....it will not load and if it does will bounce back to the original page when I try to hit a key or link on that new page....I have AOL 9 i think it is on here too and am using it to get to the web right now because IE won't work....I did recently clean off cookies and temp history.....but nothing else I know of.....I have no idea how to fix it....I did delete IE 7 and reload it off microsoft just a few minutes ago hoping that would fix it....but no....same problem....any ideas?UPDATE:I downloaded Firefox and the same thing happens. I get on ok and then go to a scondary page and when I hit something on that page or even try to scroll down the page it automatically jumps back to the first sign on page.....I can't get IE or Firefox to do anything but sign on....without popping back to the sign on page. HELP.....

One of the non-delivery notification is as follows..

The reason for failure was as follows:

554 SPAM-Relay detected

What could this mean? Is my email id marked as a spam on her server..

Comcast 6 Mps is my ISP.
Windows XP Professional
Outlook 2003.
Only recent new software within last month when this started happening is IE v.7.beta 2.
I FIRST NOTICED THIS WITH SOME PERSONAL E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION LISTS IN WHICH I HAD NOT CLEANED OUT A COUPLE "BAD" E-MAIL ADDRESSES THAT CONTINUALLY CAME BACK AS UNDELIVERABLE. THEN, MORE RECENTLY, I FURTHER CONFIRMED THIS WHEN I NOTICED THAT INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED E-MAILS FOR MY BUSINESS E-MAIL ADDRESS (A POP3 THAT I USE WHEN I WORK OUT OF HOME SOMETIMES) WERE NOT COMING BACK AFTER I REALIZED I INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED AN OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESS.

Check your "From" and "Reply-to" addresses. Have you entered them correctly?

my coworker is trying to fwd an email to one of his clients and it keeps being bounced back with a message saying 'spamhaus.org is rejecting x.x.x.x' -- the ip address is some RR mail server in Virginia... I sent them an email about unblocking our ip but was curious if anyone else has dealt with this in the past?

It appears your coworker's SMTP server is being rejected because it is on the Spamhaus black list.

Does your work have their own mail server? Is the coworker using a personal email account? Posting a copy of the NDR will help us determine why it is being bounced as well.

Here is a good one for you guys. I am a bit stumped. It could be something rather simple.

I have a client with SBS2003 R2. They have 6 users. 5 are in the office, one is remote. This remote address does not use outlook or connect via VPN to the server. The SBS uses Microsofts IMAP connector and downloads the email to the SBS. The 5 users in house can email each other, other people outside the domain, but not the 1 remote user. They all have the same @domain.com address. My understanding is that the emails to her are resolving locally, she does have a user account on the server (not a pop3 connector acct). Should I just remove her email address from her user account?

Not clear on your setup...so you have 6x users on your SBS box? 5x in house, and 1x at a satellite branch that does not authenticate to the domain.

And you're using the POP3 connector to pull e-mail from a mailhost out there which houses the POP3 mailboxes?

Is the default recipient policy of the Exchange server set to this "domain.com"?

The first 5x users can send/receive locally to the domain.local addresses? Did you manually add a default SMTP address for each user for domain.com?

Can e-mails to this 6th person show up in her inbox if you check from OWA?

Do you see what happens to e-mails for this 6th person in Exchange Message Tracking Center?

I've been trying to find a solution to the problem and it led me here. However my problem isn't the same as the firefox 'bouncing' problem already mentioned in this forum.

Example:
When viewing hotmail I can visit my inbox but when i try to view any messages I get a very brief glimpse of the message before it bounces me back to the inbox.
With other sites it often just refreshes the page if i click on any avenues within the site.

I tried deleting cookies via the toolbar cos that sorts out some problems.

I only got to this forum through explorer (yuk).

I apologise if this is a question that has already been answered but my problem isn't very easily searchable through keywords.
 

Answer:Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

...also revisiting a tab in firefox causes that page to refresh. Not really a problem but displaying all the symptomes will help in diagnosing the problem.

I also tried re-installing firefox. That didn't work.

Please, any thoughts on this, it's driving me up the wall.

Hey everyone, I have been trying to play a few games on my laptop recently, and I've noticed the oddest thing. Take Dungeon Siege 2 for example; I start the game up, graphics are set to high, and the game runs smooth as butter. About 5 minutes go by and then I hit a massive lag spike, my frame-rate drops from 40 to 10. This lasts for about another 5minutes then... its back to being smooth again? It will keep doing this switch back and forth constantly. The game only uses about 400mb of ram, and even when its being laggy, lowering the graphics to bare-bones doesn't make the slightest difference.

I tried setting the core affinity to 1, 2 or both, that doesn't seem to make anything better. I tried raising the app priority, but vista keeps reseting it i think. And oddly, by minimizing the game and waiting about 30seconds, the game will go back to being smooth again.
What is going on??

Hello, everyone, and thank you for any assistance you can provide with this issue. I searched for an answer using Google and the TG search function, but the issue is inherently difficult to search for, as it brings up a lot of off-topic results. If this has been asked and answered, a link to the answer would be appreciated, thanks again.

When working on my computer, I practice a sort of extreme mult-tasking - that is, I usually have numerous Office & PDF programs open and more specifically 3-4 IE browser windows at any given time.

I frequently click to a new page, or action, on one page, then switch back to Word, or to another window in the meantime while that page downloads, even if this only takes a second or two - that's a couple of seconds I could be doing something else.

IE does not seem to cooperate in this regard, however, in that I will often find myself unwillingly dragged back to a browser window, when the page has finished downloading, when there is activity there, PW request, etc. Is there any way to prevent IE from switching windows on me against my will, so that I will only be on the browser window I choose and never be dragged back to an old window, regardless of what is going on there?

I am using IE7; however, the same thing happened with my earlier IE6.

I have cable Internet, but I am also using a old and slow computer - will an upgrade solve this?

If so, given my penchant for mult-tasking, is a dual core processor the way to go?

I think the word you're looking for is "focus." You click on a certain window to get the focus there. Then some other application or window wants your input or wants you to see a message and it grabs the focus (and you find yourself typing into thin air!).

I know of no way to change this operation. Maybe there is a registry tweak.

Since this is a general Windows feature I suggest that you click on the red triangle and ask a moderator to move this thread to the Windows XP forum, where you are more likely to find an expert who knows about this.

The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.

Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?

Hello. I just received a Thinkpad Yoga S1 and I love it but the one problem is that the touchpad is not very accurate. Whenever I try to move the cursor on the touchpad it bounces back a little from the direction it came with the distance of the bounceback depending on how fast I move the cursor. It's not a huge deal but nonetheless annoying. I am not sure if it is a driver problem or a problem with just my device. Just need a little input and/or solutions from the community. Thank you!

change from domain

to:
workgroup... xyz (anything really)... reboot

then: change it back to: blah.com

any shorter methods?

Why would the PC's on the domain not find themselves on the Domain, unless of course you have alot of mobile users connecting?

they should be able to log in on the login screen to their regular computer account,. you dont have to change the domain to workgroup or anything?

I'm familiar with the other, usual, emails which bounce my sent messages, but this one appeared suddenly, doesn't give much info and it has been bouncing many more of my sent messages than the others. There's no way to contact them and in general they are a nuisance since it's enough to receive the other bouncing emails that one doesn't need one more. I replied to them asking for info and didn't get any answer.

Oh I didn't know it was going to come out so small. How can one enlarge it? Thanks so much for any ideas to solve these.

Question: My Domain & Gmail

I was told that I could use my own domain with Gmail for free but I'm not sure if thats correct.
What I was wanting to do is purchase a Domain Name from Go Daddy such as
TheOrbitalFamily.com then use Gmail's web servers to host my mail.
This way I could choose my own e-mail address instead of having to use an email address
I wanted but was already taken. Is this possible?

How do add a domain to Contacts for a GMail account? For example, if I want to ensure I receive all messages from all accounts @xyzdomain.com, how do I configure this in GMail? It appears that GMail only allows full e-mail addresses to be added to the Contact list. That doesn't work for places (businesses, banks, etc.) that send messages from accounts that can vary.

I've searched the web for an answer and haven't found anything.

A Gmail exploit which might be abused to allow domain hijacking has reared its ugly head once more.
The reported vulnerability revolves around the potential ability for hackers to create a malicious filter without needing to obtain the login credentials for a Gmail account. A flaw of this type hit web designer David Airey back in December 2007. Security watchers thought that Google had a handle on the problem, but now it seems that this confidence might have been misplaced.
The exploit kicks off by tricking surfers into visiting a maliciously constructed website. This site uses cross-site request forgery trickery to set up a filter on a targeted Gmail account which forwards email to a hacker's account while deleting it from a victim's inbox. The exploit involves stealing a cookie and creating a fake iFrame with a URL containing the variables that instruct Gmail to create a filter, as explained in greater detail here.
The creation of a malicious filter means, for example, that if a Gmail address is used as the contact details for domain registration then black hats can use a domain host's password reset features to hijack an account. The host sends account recovery instructions to a compromised account which forwards these emails to a hacker. Marks are left none the wiser, because the malicious filter means that tell-tale emails are deleted from their account before they get a chance to read them.

Suddenly email I send to Hotmail or MSN mail is getting bounced back. It does not matter if the message is a new one or reply.

It happens whether or not I send it from my desktop or ipad. However, if I send the email from work on my work desktop or my ipad on the work network, it goes through.

I just started typing out an email in gmail's web application. I needed to cut or copy the text to Outlook but it wouldn't give me that option. Is there a way to do that or are you stuck once you start with the only option of deleting? I even went to my draft sub folder and it wouldn't let me move the text.

Each morning I have a list of 10-20 rejected emails that were sent out about a week ago using my domain.  I don't recognize any of the recipients (not from my email lists) nor do I recognize the email account in the From: field.  All of the emails contain a randomly named zip file that it tries to send (probably a virus).
 
This is an example of one of the emails.  The X-Sender is my actual email address, however the From address uses my domain but not my account name.
 
Is this a virus?  Is someone logging in to my account?
 
Note that I replaced my actual email address with ??? to avoid publicizing it.

Hi koolcat It's possible that your email account have been compromised. Are you able to change the password on it, and enable 2FA to see if the sendings stops? Are you aware of any websites, services, etc. that you use that had a data breach lately? Do you use the same password a lot?

Hi all, have changed my email to gmail.com so I do not keep changing my address when I change servers. Some emails that I am expecting are not arriving. Ebay always send an email after you order and they always come through straight away, placed 2 orders but no emails. Some sites are sending an email when I order. Does anyone know how I fix this assuming it is the gmail.com account.

Hello,
I'm trying to move all the old emails in my university OWA to gmail just to keep a record. I already know how to 'forward future incoming emails' using the rule option, but what I'm hoping to do is to move all the old emails that are already in the OWA. Is there anyway that I can do this without forwarding each email one by one ? (I have 300 ish emails!). I just want to keep a copy of all the communications, so either to forward them or to keep them as a file (in whatever format) will do just fine for me.

Every once in a while I'll have an email discussion with someone blow up.  All of the emails are open, and they are in backwards order each in indenting a little off from the other one on their left margins, and they form a kind of systematic tree where they branch off of each other systematically.
I can't figure out how to put them back into order, and close them.  
 
After that the gmail thread is totally shot, so I have to begin in another one.  
It's done this for years.

You need to post screen shots.   I have never seen Gmail "permanently unthread" a threaded discussion though you can change views.  The relationship is in the e-mail headers themselves and all the e-mail client (or web interface) does is use that information to create a threaded view/conversation view.

Lol, you either intentionally or unintentionally sent a unsubscribe and, gmail is telling you it could not connect to the listed address and that it will try for two more days before giving up. What part of the message couldn't you figure out?

A long time back, all my emails started going into my allmail box instead of my inbox.
Most of the time, that doesn;t bother me. But there are times, when i lose focus on the allmail.
Then I have to try and remember the shortcut to get back to allmail, or to go the sibebar, where Inbox is on top and below that "important" and so on. But to get to allmail, you have to go down to more, and find AllMail as a submenu in that. It might even be necessary to make the browser page smaller, so you can see the More menu.
So is it possible to either (a) get messages to go into inbox, or to bring Allmail up to the top of the sidebar, where Inbox is located.
The second one would be my first choice, as that's where my most of all my emails are ie in allmail.
But if i can only do the first thing ie get messages to appear in my inbox, is there a way to move all mails in my allmail box to my inbox?

update. Okay, after all these years, i have found out that all mail refers to archived mail.
So if all my mail is going into archived mail, does that mean that at one stage, i chose to have all my mail be archived. Perhaps I hit something invaderntly.
I came upon this, because I had another question about Archived mail. I was wondering if I was looking at mail, in all mail, and ticked a post, and chose to archive it, and then deleted it, was it still in the archive. But as I am in the archive (all mail) I am deleting it from the archive, or am I.

No, All Mail is exactly what it says. Mail in every location: Inbox, any folders you created, archived emails, trash and spam.
There is a label in front of the subject line telling you where that particular email is located.
When you delete from the archive it moves to trash. You will see it in All Mail with Trash in front of the subject.
You can also see it if you open Trash.

Go to settings: (gear icon) then click on labels. If you cahnge All Mail from Hide to Show it will appear at the top rather than having to click the arrow aside of More.

I have just recently converted from using Windows Live Mail for my email to Gmail. Mainly because there was not an easy way to sync my contacts between WLM and my Android smartphone. Syncing is much better now, but the system differences is taking some getting used to. I notice when I am using Gmail and search for a past email, many times Gmail doesn't find it. I try it searching by contact name, by contact email address, and by subject. Of course, I can scroll back through my old emails and find it manually, but it is frustrating that Gmail cannot spot it quickly. It seems to have the most trouble when I am trying to find a SENT email. Sometimes, one I just sent yesterday. I click on the "Sent Mail" folder and the search box shows "in:sent". I type the info and nothing is found. I have tried it backspacing over the "in:sent", and with leaving the "in:sent" in place before my info. Neither way seems to help. Is there a setting I am missing?

I have registered in some blog or forum sites. I was oblivious of the item of "receive news from the site". Now I've got like hundreds of emails from those sites, which really annoyed me. Is there a quick settings in Gmail, which enables me block those emails with just a few clicks? Or do I have to go to those sites, sign in and find the button to cancel subscription? Hi everyone,

I was sorting out all my emails, all 4000+ emails that has conjured up in each sub folder in my account. I must of miss-read or miss-clicked or accidentally gone into all mail & deleted all my emails. Most of them I diddnt want, but there was 3 categories of emails I wanted to keep, my work union, iTunes & O2 emails. Is there any way of getting these back by contacting google or going through a process? (there not in my trash mail by the way)

Hi,Just recently the emails that were going into my WLM account are being redirected
into my gmail account.
I sent a test btinternet.com email from WLM which goes into my sent folder but not my inbox.
Is there a way to set it up so that gmail goes to gmail account and my btinternet.com emails
go into my WLM account.

What do you mean by "WLM account" ?
Is this an @hotmail.com, or @outlook.com, or ISP (btinternet), or ... account?
WLM (Windows Live Mail) is a Client (installed on PC) email program and can have many email accounts.
Do you have multiple accounts setup in WLM?
Every email provider I know of also has a WEB site where the user can read/send/manage email.
Are you using WLM for some email, and WEB email for other email?
Each email provider may offer different protocols such as IMAP, POP, MAPI and that can make a difference in what folders are used for a client program such as WLM.

Then there's a "Windows Live account" if that's what you're talking about, and Skype can affect things from what I've read...

I have 2 hotmail accounts here - 1 is MAPI, and 1 is POP...plus a gmail and outlook account...
I mainly use Office Outlook for all my email, but I do use WLM on "test" systems for email that I know I don't need to keep ...

As you said it's a "recent change", can you restore to a point before the problem started?
Do you know what changed to start the problem - Patch Tuesday updates perhaps?

used to move some emails coming into the promotion tab to be received into the primary [inbox] directly,
after this I noticed that some of the newsletter senders keep flooding with lot of emails everyday,
I wanted to return them into the promotions tab,
I tried to practice the same steps - by:

but this did not work,
I tried this several times but still coming into my inbox directly, and I dont want to block or spam them.

Hi All,

This is my first post on this site - I've been trying to figure what might be the cause of my problem, searched Google, received no help from my mail server host and so have turned to you guys.

I have an Asus F5 laptop with Vista Business and using Windows Mail for my email, with eM Client () on the same machine. My PC is a totally separate XP SP2 machine and has eM Client.

Suppose I work for "A Company", whose email addresses end in "acompany.com.au". The company's website and mail is hosted by an external 3rd party. It's a POP3 / SMTP setup and has been working fine up until I ran into my issue (below).

The issue arose around the same time that I installed iTunes after getting an iPhone (and set the iPhone up to receive mails). A business colleague did the same thing and does not have the issue I have.

Supporting info and my issue:

1. Webmail:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone: the outside world and acompany.com.au domain - no problems.

2. iPhone:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone: the outside world and acompany.com.au domain - no problems.

3a. Laptop - Windows Mail application AND eM Client (a different email application), neither of which are web-based:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone in the outside world - i.e. they DON'T have an acompany.com.au domain email address
I can receive emails from anyone with an acompany.com.au domain email address

I've done some further experimentation and have some more information that may help identify the problem, and hopefully lead to it getting sorted.

If I receive an email from someone outside "acompany.com.au" and I reply and CC someone who IS from "acompany.com.au", the CC'd person gets the email. Subsequent replies back and forth then work OK - even without the original external person being on the email.

So it seems that it's just new emails I create to people with the same email domain as me. Why would that occur across different applications on different machines?

I have been trying to follow this guide to get my local emails uploaded onto Gmail:

Unfortunately it seems that this guide is for Outlook users, and I use thunderbird. Does anybody know of a way to import local emails from Thunderbird to Gmail?

I've heard of the "Gmail Loader" program, but AFAIK this program will strip the emails of their original send dates. What I'd really like is for a solution where all my local messages can be sent and stored on Gmail, with the original sender information retained, and the original send dates retained. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Just attach to GMAIL via IMAP and the drag and drop you saved local email to GMAIL through thunderbird.

So im wanting to transfer my Emails from Hotmail without simply forwarding them (id like to keep the original address in them) i found a guide here that used Eudora and Hotmail Popper but the guide is very vague and i couldnt get it to work. Is there another way or a better guide out there? After a hour and a half searching through google and the Eudora forums i have come up with nothing on how to get this to work or any other options. Please HELP!

Hi All,

I use outlook for about 4 email addresses (work and personal). I also do volunteer work for a charity and have an email address for that which is a gmail account.

I have tried repeatedly to set this gmail account up in Outlook but it didn't work. The only way I have found is to have two separate outlook account where I choose if I want to open my normal account of the charity account but cannot do both at the same time.

This is very frustrating as I need to be able to see my calendar and contacts when using the charity account.

I've set up my Gmail account for reading emails via IMAP and sending emails all with Mozilla's Thunderbird. I followed Google's directions on how to setup the client to work with Thunderbird. It reads the emails correctly but when I send emails I get:
"An error occured while sending mail. The mail server responded: INCORRECT DOMAIN IN MAIL/RCPT COMMAND. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again."

As it suggests I check the outgoing mail setting and try again with the same results.

Has anyone else run into this issue and how did you resolve it?

Evidently, 60 some accounts have been compromised at Gmail - all emails w/in these accounts were 'lost'. One thought is that there was/is a flaw w/in Firefox that allowed XXS to manipulate and then cause harm. While only a very small fraction of Gmail users, this does bring to light at least two points:

Hi, when I searched the forums for posts on Microsoft outlook I found posts in the windows and the computer software areas, a majority of the posts appeared here so I thought I'd try posting here.Okay, here's my situation: I currently have an email account with Adelphia and I use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access that it account.  I setup Outlook so that when I receive the emails from the Adelphia account Outlook removes them and transfers them to Outlook (meaning a copy of the emails don't remain in my Adelphia inbox).  I've decided that I want to stop using Outlook, mainly due to the fact that it makes it difficult to access my emails from computers not on my network account.  I've decided to switch to a gmail account (for other reasons involving irritation with Adelphia).My problem is that I can't figure out how to get my emails from Outlook 2003 to my new gmail account.  I've looked in the questions and answers section, the forum, and both faq on gmail and outlook official pages and still can't figure it out.  I think I've figured out a way to redirect new incoming mail, but that's not my concern what I need is to redirect my old emails.  I know that I could just forward all of my old emails to my new gmail account, but that will be a huge hassle and the emails would then show up as being sent from me and not the original sender.  If I can't figure out another solution I'll do th... I'm not absolutely sure but I doubt very much this can be done.  Think about it.  With Outlook, your mail is on your hard drive, not out on the Internet.  With Gmail, it is out on the Internet; it's web-based mail.  I looked at the info on Gmail on Google's site and, like you, found nothing about transferring mail from Outlook.  So, I no other option but to forward the mail to yourself if you really must get it all moved over to Gmail.

Hello All,

Please suggest me is this is a good idea. I have approx. 10 GB of emails stored in my Gmail account. Since Gmail offer only 15 GB of the free space, I had to create a new account and start using it. I see Yahoo Mail! give 1 TB of emails storage? I already have one yahoo account. I have below questions:
How can I transfer emails from Gmail to Yahoo (easy and quick, I already know the MS outlook way - accessing IMAP of both and then transferring from one account to another simply by moving, its time consuming and hangs all time)
Is is okay to transfer to Yahoo! Would I be facing any trouble with it? Like accessing mails. Often seen, yahoo has pathetic user interface and not comfortable to use.
Any other way for email storage, I just wanna free space from my loved Gmail account and continue using it.

I primarily use Windows Mail for my work at home job. I also have a Gmail account so I can check for e-mails on my iphone when I'm out. I want to have it set up so that the emails show up in both places, Windows Mail and Gmail.

Currently if my desktop computer is turned off and my Windows Mail program is not open, the incoming emails only go to Gmail and not Windows mail. OR, if my computer is up and running but the Windows mail doesn't happen to be open, the emails only go to Gmail and not Windows Mail. Seems like if my browser (IE8) is open but windows mail is not open, emails will only go to Gmail.

Do I have some settings wrong which would make the emails not show up in Windows Mail?

I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit.

While researching for this issue, found a link which might help in fixing the issue: Leaving Mail on the Server with Windows Mail | Tiger Technologies Support

Ensure to check the box ?Leave a copy of messages on the server? and uncheck ?Remove from server after? and ?Remove from server when deleted from deleted items?. Click Apply and then OK.

Check if the new messages appear in Windows Mails and Gmail.

Please post the results.

I can't access emails of more than a month old in gmail. I created folders for emails that I wanted to keep, but gmail's inbox states to get messages that are more than one month go to settings. I have gone into settings but I can't get access my emails of over a month. I take screenshots of all emails I want to keep and put them in a file and if I don't I can't access them. How I can file\keep the emails that I want, as there is no facility for me to save. The contents of gmail's inbox folders are then removed after one month.

Hi I run a company that takes a lot of bookings through g mail. Is it possible to move these booking direct from gmail to calender as they come in??

I want to send emails to long list of recipients by Gmail, each of them will be shown and receive the email as [To his email address], would like to ask if there is any idea or suggestion about this?

Hi there,

I've recently set my parents up with a Gmail account but am having problems with transferring their emails from an Outlook PST file to their new account. I've tried following the tutorial at the link below without success - mainly due to the fact that Outlook seems to be very unstable on their machine (hence the change to Gmail).

Are there any other ways of migrating these emails across to their new account? Note that the migration tool offered by Google does not work as the Gmail account isn't connected to Google Apps for Business.

One possible solution is that I could migrate their emails via my Google Apps for Business account though I imagine it would take forever to then forward these emails onto them (most likely manually using the Forward) option?

Hi,

I have a gmail account that has received emails from paypal, which contain customer email addresses. Since I can't access emails past a month in paypal, it would be ideal if I could get every email address in an email sent by paypal to me and then copy it to a text file. I'd like to use the list for mass mailing product reminders, etc. Before I spend the time to write a script, has anyone heard of software that will do that? Thanks for your help!

If that sounded confusing, I need a script that will search through a specified set of emails, extract every address in those emails, and then copy them to a txt file.

Sorry but this cant be done. At least not by hacing the script go online and search GMail. Now if you use something like Thunderbird, Outlook or Windows Live Mail that stores the mail locally, then you might be able to do something. But AFAIK nothing like this exists.

For years I have used my own domain email addresses hosted with Gmail for all my email requirements, and have had no problems. My settings with Gmail are such that the message on the server is deleted once it has been accessed via Thunderbird.
One thing confuses me though. If I am away on holiday, I sometimes access my messages directly from Gmail using a tablet, and as most of them are unimportant, I then delete them manually from Gmail and then also delete them from the 'bin' folder. However, when I return home at the end of the holiday and switch on my PC, all the messages are then downloaded to Thunderbird, though I have deleted them previously.
Obviously the reason for accessing them on holiday is to avoid having hundreds of messages when I return home, but clearly I am failing to achieve this. Can somebody please explain why this happens, and how I stop it.

I have always used Hotmail with Outlook Express - I can send and receive Hotmail emails from my PC. But now that Microsoft have threatened to withdraw free POP access, I have decided to try GMail.
I have got my GMail working with Outlook Express. I can download all my received emails into a folder on my PC, but I do not appear to be able to download my sent emails.

Is there a way to do this?

Just a thought, send from Outlook Express, just have you Gmail account in the header.

I use Gmail for everything, but no longer have to log into their site - everything comes and goes from the Gmail account.

I use Outlook 2010 which syncs to my IMAP Gmail account.
This works very well.

Today something happening in Outlook (I might have dragged something, I don't know) and my mails (12,500 of them) ended up in Outlook's deleted items folder. Some Gmail folders just vanished, like Sent Items, Bin and Spam.

I immediately quit Oulook before it synced so all my mails are still safe on Gmail's servers. I checked via logging in to the Gmail website and also disabled IMAP to be safe.

I need some advice on how to fix the emails in Outlook.
I'm afraid that if I start syncing the mails will be lost from Gmail.
I also don't want to start a new Outlook .pst file as there are many gigs of emails to sync.

Does anyone have some advice?
