Preferred Solution: Im having this RunDLL error message - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\SysMenu.dll I have tried reload my windows 7 Pro twice and it cannot solve this problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've recently installed W10. Previously I never had any problems with the computor, but since the installation (although may not be causal) I have regular error messages:
unable to run C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\SysMenu.dll
I know this has been discussed previously on the forum. But I still don't understand how to fix this.
Another problem is that, since installation of W10, my Word files often stall or block, which never happened before, so seriously affecting my work right now.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Answer:C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\SysMenu.dll

Hi,
Click Start, Type msconfig in Run
In system configuration dialog box, uncheck sysmenu.dll under Boot Tab
if this boot option exists.
And check if there are related keys about sysmenu.dll under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If there are, please try to delete them.

I followed your directions and typed msconfig in the start menu search...When I right click on autoruns, it gives me this message;
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Can I delete the "autoruns & try to start over or will deleting it mess my computer up even more?

Being that "computer guy" in our family I got referred to a  friend of my brother that had a problem with his notebook.
The problem was "Ice Cyber Crime...(?)" ransomware.  It had even taken a pic of him with the camera on his notebook so
he was a bit freaked out.  I was able to kill the ransomware process, installed malwarebytes and ran it.  Malwarebytes
found some 75 nasties on his notebook, so I quarantined and deleted them. I then ran Eset onlinline scanner, which
found 8 more nasties, and let it do it's thing.

Problem/virus seems to be gone, but now whenever I boot his computer up I get an error message that says
"RUNDLL: There was a problem starting C:\PROGRA~3\wjrwjcl2o.dss. The specified module could not be found."
Thought this might be a leftover registry fragment, so I ran Ccleaner's registry cleaner and let it do it's thing.  But nope,
the error message still comes back.
I thought I had killed the bug, but this error message has me thinking that part of it might still be lurking inside his notebook
somewhere?  Any help with this would be appreciated.  As per the "preparation guide" below is the DDS log and the
attach log is zipped and attached.

Hi,

I have an HP Pavilion P6120F desktop with Windows Vista home premium. About 3 to 5 minutes after I boot up I get a RunDLL message that says

Error Loading C;\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\system\SysMenu.dll
The specified module could not be found.

I have checked the above location and the dll does not exist as far as I can tell. I have also checked my start up file to try and locate what is calling that dll and I dont see it anywhere. I have tried autoruns as well and cannot find it there either. Cn you please help me resolve this error message.

Thanks,

Hello,

Customer Toshiba Laptop, Win7 Home Pre, lots of add ons, toolbars, PCFix Speed, Reg Optimizer Pro, etc. Removed with REVO, Cleaned up startup with CCleaner, and MSCONFIG.

Ran Malwarebytes and MWAV (Microworld stand alone anti-virus tool.) Reset all 3 browsers (IE11, Chrome, Firefox30) Reboot. All of the browsers open up to w w w-search .net > Tuvaro. Verified proxy in internet settings was clear and set to "automatically detect" and also without auto detect. (Proxy was set to 55150?) Reset each browser homepage but still goes to w w w-search .net.

Ran Combo-Fix 2x and the internet browser problem is fixed.

Now whenever the system boots up it shows two separate error messages box with RunDLL in the upper left corner and states
"There was a problem starting C:\Progra~!\common~1\System\Sysmenu.dll" The Specified module could not be found."

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System - no Sysmenu.dll here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System - no Sysmenu.dll here

I have re-run Malwarebytes and it did not find anything.

Looking in MSCONFIG and the startup section in CCleaner I do not see any item pointing to either of the locations - C:\Program Files\Common Files\System - in either program.

Is there any other load point that could be calling for this?

Answer:Startup error "RunDLL" There was a problem... sysmenu.dll

I was searching for something on IE, and it went spastic on me and froze up or crashed or something. I used Task Mananger to end IE, and I got a box that something went wrong with. Also, I noticed that MS Visual Basic C++ opened up at the same time. Before all this, I ran spybot and removed some spyware form my PC. I think this happened once before, recently, I can't remember.

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\ts2.exe

Answer:C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\ts2.exe error

I doubt using Spybot (or Ad-Aware) to delete spyware will cause the Visual Basic error you got. Spybot (and Ad-Aware) are conservative when removing files.

This is not necessarily true for antivirus programs, which sometimes find a virus, you ask for removal, then it will, but at the cost of other things not working, say Internet Explorer won't work after Norton fixes a nasty virus lodged deep in the OS, (big deal you'd repair IE, and more important get rid of the virus) I digress. My point is when Spybot (or Ad-Aware) remove files do not suspect error messages will result.

To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft programs like Internet Explorer aren't written in Basic, and I don't see the connection between killing an IE process and your VB message.

Was that a one-time error message you got? Have you seen it again? Or did it go away and vanish when you restarted the computer?

From my observations, the application does not launch. Also she was denied access to remove the program in the Add/Remove Programs applet.

You should probably reinstall it if you can and try this:Revo uninstallerhttp://www.revouninstaller.com/----------------------How To Use Revo Uninstaller: Please download Revo Uninstaller. Extract the ZIP file to a folder and run revouninstaller.exe from there! (You can copy that folder to an USB Mass storage drive and use it without any installation required!) There are two ways to uninstall programs with Revo Uninstaller:
Important: Please, try to close the application you want to uninstall first! Select the application in the list of installed applications and press the Uninstall button in the toolbar. Right-click the application and click the Uninstall command in the displayed menu. Follow the instructions.

Hi, I was running GTA San Andreas with the San Andreas Multiplayer mod on it. I began modding the gta3.img with a program called spark but I forgot to exit the Spark application before loading up GTA San andreas multiplayer. For this reason an error message was given when trying to load up GTA San andreas multiplayer. This had happened before and I used to just uninstall gta san andreas and then re-install it again and it would work again. However this time control panel -> add or remove programs thing wouldn't allow me to remove gta san andreas and i get this message

Error Loading C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\10\50\Intel32\Ctor.dll

The specified module could not be found.

Please help me. I've tried deleting all the gta sa files manually using right click -> delete but the program is still present in the "Installed appliations" list in "Add or Remove programs"

I need to uninstall it so i can play again.

Please help me

Use AUTORUNSA "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.Credit to quietman7

Ok...where to begin..... I accidently clicked on a message in my friends profile which said this "I can't believe I found %n's Picture here HAHAHA". NO matter what I do it just stays there even if i delete it. After clicking on it all this porn links were added to my computer and to my favorites in IE. So I got on www.aim.com and went under help. Looked at their page for viruses and trojans and did what it told me to do..to get rid of the trojan. It told me to download ad-ware...so i did and deleted everything. Now, i also have a rundll error loading message for cnbabe.dll that showes up every minute. I've changed my homepage back because it was changed...I deleted the porn links, I've reinstalled aim, I've deleted certain files that the aim help told me to delete, I've deleted temp. files, I've looked at the startup bar....I've tried everything and nothing is working. I still have that thing in my profile and now I have a error message for cnbabe.dll...

I am using Windows 7 Professional. Lately, I'm having a problem with an error message that keeps popping up every time I click on any web page. At least 2-4 error windows will pop up each time. I have to close each message in order to continue. I have no idea what is causing this to happen. I hope someone will be able to assist with this issue, as it is quite annoying! The message is as follows:Windows cannot find 'C:\PROGRA~2\INBOXA~'2\bar\1.bin\AppIntegrator.exe'. Answer:How can i fix this? C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\Common\ymmapi.dll

You have given us the file that seems to be the problem, but what actually is the error message?

Is it file missing, file invalid or ... ?

As always we need the exact and entire message, not only the subject.

Answer:Error message RunDLL while booting up the Windows 7

Well, I use the Anvira Antivir freeware software + the avast! Free Antivirus
Both are installed and work great.

Recommend installing this to scan your system again.
Furthermore install the CCLeaner in order to clean the system and the registry.

I'm totally new to this and completely desperate to even be posting on this site. I'm not very computer literate.

So, I've had my notebook for about a year and for the past 2 days, my internet explorer had been sluggish and not responding...just kind of frozen. When I'm on AOL, I can surf the net just fine and quickly.

Just today, when booted the computer, I received an error message:

RUNDLL:
Error Loading
C:\Users\Montague\AppData\Local\Temp\lsaqiucx.dll

The specified module could not be found

I restarted my computer about 10 times and the same error, plus my internet explorer is still extremely slooooow. HELP!!!! What is it, what's going on? How do I fix it???

THANKS in advance =)

After reviewing some of the other questions about RunDll errors and HJT, I was unable to figure out which files to work with concerning my problem. When rebooting I get the following Rundll Error; (Rundll Erorr loading C:\Windows\system32\bridge.dll The specified module could not be found.) Below is the log after running HJT. Can you advise what I should do to correct this? After reviewing your comments, I did not want to proceed without expert help, when dealing with these files.

Answer:Windows 7 Shows .DLL Error How to solve this problem Help me

Hello mkannan and welcome to Seven Forums.

When I googled msisvt32.dll I got "no results found". Whenever I see that I immediately start thinking virus or other malware. Legitimate .dll files almost always have information available about them. Suggest you run a full scan with your own updated antivirus suite. No anti-virus product is 100% effective 100% of the time (if there was such a thing we'd all be using it.) So I also recommend you scan your computer with some additional free on-demand scanners. The more scanners you use that come back "no malware found" the more likely your computer is not infected.

Windows Defender Offline

Malwarebytes

ESET Online Scanner

SuperAntispyware

HitmanPro

Kaspersky TDSSKiller

After running the malware scans I'd also check for damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please post back the results of the scans.

Hi, i keep getting an Error message on my Laptop when i switch it on, i am using a Acer Aspire 3630, and my Operating System is Windows XP, the message which pops up is:
RUNDLL
Error Loading
C:\Documents and Settings\Sarah Faa\Application Data\tonsom.dll
The specified module could not be found.

I did a Scan using AVG AntiVirus Free Edition it found 11 Viruses and sent them to the virus vault, i was then told i should empty the Virus Vault, which i did, but although 9 of them disappeared 2 Viruses will not leave the Virus Vault, they are:
Win32/Cryptor (on the file mentioned in the RUNDLL Error Message)
and Trojan Horse FakeAV_s.AQX on a different file

I am experiencing many problems, presumably as a result of these 2 Viruses, for example, my screen keeps changing colours and going fuzzy so i can't read the writing on the screen, i click a link and instead of going to the page i wanted it goes to a completely unrelated page or sometimes just brings up an Advert page, or it will let me go to the requested page but then says "Page Unresponsive" so i can't scroll up or down on the page.

I need help with this please, but my computer knowledge is practically ZERO, so please word any help in a way that a 2 year old could understand. Please Help as i am about ready to throw this laptop through the window in sheer frustration as i am unable to do anything with it while it is like this.

I've tried searching it on google but all I've found were people with error messages that were similar but had a different missing entry and they weren't any help. This error message is driving me INSANE!!! If anybody has any ideas of how to fix it it would be really helpful.

My netbook is a mess.  I have had at least 2 major viruses in the past that took over the computer causing error messages to pop up repeatedly, preventing me from even using the machine.  After rebooting in safe mode stopping everything and running some scans it almost went back to normal. However, it has never worked quite the same.  On Start up I recently started getting a RunDLL error message.  The error message indicates there is a problem starting: Appdata\roaming\apiclass\apiclass.dll

I think there is so much more going on but no malware scan or ESET security scan has found anything wrong.

"fbkbudbt.dll" looks like a random-letter dll file and Googles nothing so it is immediately suspicious.

Answer:Rundll error message

Hello bbnice2me
Unfortunately the malware experts qualified to deal with this kind of problem are persistently overworked, and it could take them a while to get onto your case. Once one does take it up, I'm sure they'll make short work of this infection.

In the mean time, there are things that you can do to help speed up the process, and the most significant is provide them with the information they need. Please follow the instructions in this sticky thread and post the logs produced.
Thank you.

Answer:RunDLL Error Message

Hi Cadd2813,

A quick Google search suggests that it might be tied to some malware installed on your computer. The site I got this information from isn't too reliable though as it is flagged my McAfee SiteAdvisor as a potential malware site itself. I would use a good malware scanner such as Spybot or Adaware. Both of those products are free for non-commercial use.

As for the error message.. does it pop up when you boot up your computer? Did you recently install something that might be questionable? Try uninstalling whatever it is that you recently installed. Also, look at the tutorials here to learn how to enable and disable start up programs.

Hello,
I've seen threads with this kind of message, but none was good to solve my problem. I have a machine with windows 7 pro on it, and I have this message that pops-up every so and so (didn't count, but about every 5 minutes) : "There was a problem starting
C:Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow\eweA7AC.tmp" The specified module could not be found.

What I would like to know is how can I find which program is trying to open this file ... Is it rundll.exe but it has to be called by some other program, I think. I tried with procexp, but it's hard to see something. I thought of using procmon, but I don't
know if i can see sth with it. I scanned the registry for the temp filename, nothing in it. It still comes up every now and then, and that is very disturbing for the user.

I can put the error message, but as it is in French, I don't know if it's gonna be useful, the translation is enough !
Many thanks

Zak

Hello ZANDRY,

Welcome to TSG.

You may have used Malwarebytes before. If you have, and still have it on your machine, please update and run. Post the scan report back here.

If you do not have Malwarebytes please download from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Answer:RunDLL error message

From what I found the file was part of a trojan (POPHOT, also known under other names). Your antivirus deleted the infected .dll file but left remnants in the registry hence the error message at startup.

Please follow these instructions to get rid of all remnants and to make sure there's no other infection :
http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html
Post the requested logs in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help section. Be patient since that section is very busy, our security techs will get back to you as soon as they'll have reviewed your logs.

If you do a google search on newdot you'll come up with quite a few hits. It's malware which may have been partially removed on your system. Some of the google links have registry removal instructions, but an easy thing to try is to click the start button and then run. In the box type msconfig and hit Enter.
Open the startup tab and look for a line with newdot. Uncheck the box, save and reboot.

hello & welcome to TSF,

do you have a Windows Xp cd, not the restore cd's that come with some systems, the cd will have the Windows logo & 3D hollowgram/image on it

if you do not maybe you can barrow one from a friend/family member/co-worker as long as it is the same version that is on your system

if you have (Windows XP Home Ed. sp2 ) then the cd will have to be that / if you have a cd with (Windows XP Home Ed. )you will have to slipstream (SP2 ) onto a disk that you create

this also applies to (Windows XP Professsional )

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/Windo...p2-bootcd.html

now if you do have the Windows XP cd with sp2 please follow these steps

performing a (sfc) system file checker

It is a scan that checks the core files & dlls of the (os) operating system and replaces them if they are corrupt or missing with the correct original version

After replacing my own hard-drive into my system, and switching on the computer, everything goes fine, until the windows 98 homepage appears correctly on the vdu but a message box appears mid screen, advising me of the following error:ERROR IN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NvCpl.dll Missing Entrynv Startup: I have checked connections etc many times without success, and I have reloaded Windows 98 on three occasions, but nothing has rectified it. Can anyone tell me how to correct this. Many thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the board.

If this is Windows XP, go to Start > Run, type Msconfig and press OK.

On the Startup tab, remove the tick from the check box pointing to that CrazyTalk program.

Click OK, close Msconfig, and reboot.

This has, in some cases been reported as having spyware

SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
definition updates and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize and make sure teatimer is enabled

Do these and reboot before the next step.

Then get HiJack This http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html, put
it in a permanent folder (C:\HJT) , run it , DO NOT fix anything, post the
log here.

Sounds like you have MyWebSearch installed - which in my experience, can cause havoc on most systems. I would advise you uninstall MyWebSearch from the Add/Remove Programs dialog box.

Hi everyone

For the last few days I've been getting this one error message over and over, seemingly whenever I try to open a file, but also just out of the blue sometimes. Here's what it looks like

I thought my computer might've become infected somehow so I ran a scan, nothing turned up. but I looked in the history tab and saw this

notice the file name is the same as the one in the error message. I hit remove all, but I'm still getting the error message.

Here are the results of those tests in the sticky:

Hi ~
About 4 days ago,I logged on to my computer and after XP had loaded, this error popped on my screen and wouldn't let me do anything until I clicked on OK or x'd it...

RUNDLL
Error loading c:\windows\system32\wqyfxwve.dll
Access is denied.

Can someone explain what this error means...where it comes from...but most importantly, how I can get rid of it??

I also seem to be getting a lot of pop-ups..

I've not loaded any new programs lately in my account but my son has recently started downloading movies in his account...?

Thanks!

Hello all! I had been infected with the redirect issue and think I may have (possibly)resolved it. I am not currently suffering any re-direct issues but at startup I am still getting the following error messages;

Originally I was getting these error messages (as well as the occasional redirects)

I then ran MBAM, here is the log;

It didn't appear to find anything so I then ran SUPERAntiSpyware in safe mode and it found a bunch of issues, here is that log

So, these scans took FOREVER. my computer is still pretty slow and I am still getting the aforementioned error messages.

Any suggestions?

You need to take a look at this.

HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

Then you need to work your way through the below.

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

TDSSkiller - How to run

Then continue on with what you missed of these procedures.

B]Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything. [/B]

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem P... Read more
