I can't access Nvidia Control Panel

Question: I can't access Nvidia Control Panel

I used to be able to access the Nvidia Control Panel, and I don't know what changed that made it so that I can't access the Nvidia Control Panel.
I did a system restore to an older point, but the problem still persists.
When I try to access the Nvidia control Panel, It says something about not recognizing the Nvidia graphics card on my computer.
Here is a Speccy link because I do not want to list every spec of my laptop.
I run Windows 8 64 bit and use a Intel Graphics card as well as the Nvidia GTX 760m
It seems that the computer does not recognize the Nvidia card.
I did a driver update from the Asus website, because my computer is ASUS n56jr laptop.  My games work now, but I still can't access the Nvidia control panel.  Rather than having a popup message, I double click on Nvidia control panel under Hardware and Sound in control panel, and nothing happens.
As I said before, this problem hasn't happened before.

Preferred Solution: I can't access Nvidia Control Panel

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: I can't access Nvidia Control Panel

Are you using the latest version of the Nvidia drivers? I just updated my system less than two weeks ago.

After I install a Nvidia display driver I can't access the NCP in the right click. It's there but nothing happens when I click on it.

Answer:When I install my Nvidia display driver, I can't access the Nvidia Control Panel

Usually the best thing to do in these situations is to download the driver again. Uninstall the one that you have and reinstall with the new download. Also ensure you have the correct download for you card.
Sometimes downloads can become corrupt.

All of a sudden (probably started 10+ days ago) I can't access the NVIDIA Control panel, I get an instant error message, as per attached. I am running 175.16 driver and I can't install newest driver as I need to access the NVIDIA Control panel so I can set up dual monitors.

I can't even run Driver Sweeper, it leaves 3 files behind and I don't think it does an uninstall.

Answer:cannot access new nvidia control panel

The drivers could have gotten slightly corrupted so it fails to load the Control Panel. A fix for this would to be uninstall the drivers that are installed right now, then go to and download the newest drivers and see if that cures your problem.

W510 unable to utilize 3D graphics even though per Lenovo website my dirver is up to date.Running original W7 pro 64 bit and using original Nvidia graphics card Quadro FX 880M.Driver from Lenovo version released Dec. 1, 2013 ( I am on trial version of a floor plan/house designing software which is higly regarded and costly ($200) so don't think problem is with software. I definitely meet the minimum specs for software except for one:It needs graphics card to be able to run OpenGL 2.1 or higher in order to render 3D views of plan. Software (herafter noted as HDA) has determined that my graphics card is only offering OpenGL 1.0, and recommends driver update. So after talking with their tech support, I tried Nvidia driver 340.52 from Nvidia website released early July 2014. This was a catastrophe; still no 3D rendering, and numerous problems with even email or web browser and enormous system slow down. The Nvidia driver update also installed Nvidia Control Panel (also audio drivers). While Nvidia Control Panel opened it then went back and forth between Windows showing that it was "Not Responding" to briefly showing home screen of Control Panel (hereafter NCP). Never could access anything in NCP. HDA tech support wanted me to un-install NCP which I was unable to do other than using a WIndows system restore point, so I am back to square one with my lenovo graphics driver... Answer:Nvidia FX880M graphics driver & Nvidia control panel problems

AFAIK NVIDIA requires the NCP to be installed with it's driver package.Did you do a clean install of the 340.52 driver? Sometimes in-place upgrading NVIDIA drivers doesn't end well. Also try to exclude 3D Vision from the install.

I have a new T470p running Windows 10 Enterprise x64 Build 16296. I've had this P40 a year or so with no issues. Discovered some sluggish graphics performance, checked to make sure nvidia was being used, and it wasn't. Went to change the nVidia settings and there was no nVidia control panel in my menus. Tried installing the latest drivers for the Quadro M500M. Uninstalled all nVidia drivers and software, directories (in C:\ and in Program Files) and installed selecting the "clean installation" option. Nothing I do will bring the nVidia control panel back. The whole reason I purchased this was the Quadro support. Outraged I just paid for another year of warranty only to find out that doesn't cover software issues at all. Anyone have a suggestion? Before I sell this and buy a machine from a brand with better support while under warranty.

So I just updated to windows 10. and first thing i go to do is turn up my saturation, nvidia control panel doesnt work, i go to my device manager looks like my graphics card isnt even installed, i install it and restart pc, nvidia control panel still doesnt work, I install geforce experience, that wont launch either.

Answer:Nvidia geforce experience & nvidia control panel not working.

Nightmare, but I managed to fix things on my computer.

First I stopped Microsoft updates.
Then uninstalled every NVIDIA program/driver/utility I could find and (IMPORTANT) deleted the install folders!

To stop Windows 10 updates do this...

Open the start menu and type "Advanced"
Select the second result, "View Advanced System Settings"
In the "System Properties" window that just opened, select the hardware tab
Click the "Device Installation Settings" button
Select "No, let me choose what to do"
Select the "Never install driver software from Windows Update"

To boot into safe mode do this...

Type msconfig and open the System Configuration utility.
Click "Boot" and check the "Safe Boot" option.

Next time you boot into Windows 10 it will be in 'Safe Mode.'
Install the following driver...

Do NOT install the GForce Experience and do not update the graphics driver to the newer version.

I dunno if this will work for you, but it sorted out my problems.
Incredibly, even after I had disabled Windows updates the crafty twat STILL downloaded an NVIDIA driver.
Now I get pop up alerts from the task bar whining that it can't do the update!

Microsoft... Inching it's way slowly into the past!

I have tried different drivers, uninstalling in safe mode and using every kind of cleaner including Driver Cleaner then re-installing, as well as shutting down most running programs including AVG Professional anti virus and Zonealarm, but no joy!

I was looking over the specs for my newly installed video drivers and noticed this.  Can't find it anywhere on the computer though.  What is it, and how does one get into it?  I ask because DirectX keeps failing a couple of its diagnostic tests, and I'm being told this is the reason I can't get Guild Wars or Diablo II to run since installing these drivers.  Is there something I can adjust that might correct this, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks,Tanith

Answer:Nvidia control panel?

If you go to Windows Control Panel, you should see NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager.  Also, if you right click on your desktop, you should have some NVIDIA/nView options.  What video card do you have installed?  Have you verified that it supports the DirectX version you need to play the game?

Answer:nvidia control panel

Hello Kodiak420!

The Nvidia Control Panel follows with your Graphic Driver. Try reinstalling your Driver by using Nvidia Uninstaller (uninstall from your control panel as we know!)

Your resolution will change after you restarted your computer, it's all normal because Windows 7 is using the default driver

If you want to clean leftover files use the popular software, Driver Sweeper

Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

If you don't want to uninstall your driver, i'm sure there's some members having other suggestions for you!
Hope this helps.

I'm running on the 91.47 drivers from Nvidia for my 7600GT card and the problem I have is that the Gamma setting will not stay set. Everything else like the brightness, contrast, etc, etc, all stay the same. But the Gamma setting always goes back to -8 when I reboot.would use the latest drivers but shortly after installing the latest ones, I installed The Sims 2 Bon Voyage (few days after the drivers) and after playing it for the first time, I rebooted and got a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and had to format because no solutions worked. Any ideas?

Answer:Nvidia Control Panel

after using the nvidia control panel to make your screen adjustments, save it as a profile and set that profile to be the default. Check in your display section inside your control panel that everything is a match to what you set nvidia to, and make sure in msconfig that nvidia is set to run at start up, i think its called nview.exe or nwiz.exe

I am having an issue with nvidia control panel 2.5 and an xp machine with a geforce 6200 by bfgtech.

The problem is that I cannot access the "manage custom resolution" feature in where I should be able to define my resolution wanted and force the resolution.

The reason for this is so that I can use this machine as a media box. It has s-video out and digital audio output so its good to go. The allowed resolutions are not cutting it as they don't display correctly when it is plugged in to the tv. It works but everything looks fuzzy.

I have another laptop with s-video out and it has nvidia control panel 2.2. I was able to select the 720 by 480 resolution which works perfectly with my tv. The tv is a regular 50 inch projection tv using an s-video cable.

Answer:SLI not available in Nvidia control panel

I suppose we can assume you have the SLI bridge connected correctly and you have used the Nvidia Control Panel to set your monitors if you have more than one?

What are you seeing which is not letting you set SLI. It is probably necessary to set the system to Maximize 3D performance or Surround to enable SLI.

But we need to know what indications or messages you are getting.

I always changed those Perfomance and Quality thingies, but never noticed a difference, what does it change?
I mean, those 32xq Anti-Aliasing, never seen a difference.

Is there a performance change?
Like, 2 times faster , or??

Answer:Nvidia Control Panel

I've only noticed slight differences with some games and programs. When using the advanced settings there is a tab for application specific settings and I think those settings override the global settings. Unless your using the slider (basic panel).

I've also noticed that the older the game the less impact your settings seem to have. Like with Doom3, I cant change/improve the quality no matter what settings I use in the CP. I do notice a change in FPS in the game. But visualy, I cant see a difference.

I would be currious to hear some more detailed and accurate info from other users.

Also I'll mention I have the nvidia service set to manual. Im not sure how much impact if any that has.

Answer:NVIDIA control panel help.

Unless there is more to it than I can visualize in my brains, disabling (can you even do that? heh heh) Winrar has no affect on anything to do with NVidia, drivers or your video card.

I suggest you Google for how to clean your system of NVidia files and uninstall NVidia driver.

Based on your reading, when you are satisfied your system is "clean", then reinstall the driver by running the .exe.

Use this driver to reinstall.

Answer:Can't Open nVidia Control Panel

hello ,

what you may have done is down loaded the wrong drivers for your card ??

i have done this befor !!

so go back to the home site for your card & compare the versions

also you may need a patch for the upgrade from the home site for the card ??

now when installing the new drivers & software for the card did you uninstall the older version then reboot & install the newer version then reboot

just need to ask

now what i need to do is go to your (device manager)

now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices)

now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they

now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel
here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories

you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors
now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is)
you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties

then get back to us

Here's a query:

On, for example, Far Cry 2 I have all the display settings on full, including antialiasing (can be set to x8). However on my Nvidia Control Panel the antialiasing mode setting is set to 'override application setting' (see attachment).

My question is this: in order to get the best from my game should I set the game's settings on full (or to whatever I want) and set the Nvidia settings to full too (or to match those of the game)?

I am confused by this because logic suggests that the Nvidia CP does actually override all other settings but when I run Crysis the game crashes if I have antialiasing on full but when I set the antialiasing to x4 then it runs fine. This would suggest that Nvidia CP doesn't override all other settings.

Answer:Antialiasing and Nvidia Control Panel

On the Application Settings tab are there any preloaded applications there? Sometimes common games may be preloaded there with default settings. The globalsettings only get used if there is NOT a setting for a specific app on the applications tab.

But anyway, you SHOULD set the settings for your specific games on the application settings tab rather than on the global settings tab so that you don't have issues like the one you are describing where two games are incompatoible with a single set of settings.

As for who overrides who... I've found that it is somewhat random :/ It depends on exactly how/when the game or application applies it's settings I think. Sometimes the app overrides, sometimes it doesn't. I just tweak the applications settngs for the app in the nvidia control panel then also set the settings in the app to match how I want them.

Hi Folks,

I have a dual boot system with Win XP on one partition and Vista 64 Ultimate on the second partition. Sometime recently, perhaps at the latest Windows Update on Vista, my nVidia Control Panel stopped working in Vista 64. I am using nVidia driver 185.85, the latest non-beta version available. I am using nVidia system tools 6.05, the latest set available. I have cleaned out my drivers with Driver Sweeper, and reloaded them with no change. I have loaded the drivers with all virus software shut down, with all unnecessary apps shut down. When I try to start up the nVidia control panel, whether in the Windows Control Panel or other shortcut, Vista tells me that "nVidia Control Panel has stopped working". I am getting the impression that the nVidia drivers are not running, since when I add them they are not defaulting to max resolution like they normally do. The system seems to be running on some default video driver instead.

CPU, GPU, MCP temperatures are nominal, no indications of problems there.

I would greatly appreciate some advice on how to trouble shoot this and get back to working properly.

Now I installed the 305.xx driver from lenovo website, nothing happens when I try to open Nvidia control panel. I've read somewhere that it clashes with intel driver, but if I uninstall it, resolution is stuck on 1024x768 and I can't use second monitor (monitor has VGA only). Can anyone help please?

Hi, I recently downloaded and install NVIDIA's July update on Video Cards. When I tried to run 3D Vision it says "Feature is not enable. Press OK to launch control panel. Please review stereo setup information." When I pressed OK, the control panel application crashed. Microsofts reports "NVIDIA Control Panel Application, has stopped working." I'm running on VISTA 32-bit Home Edition 2 GB of RAM and Geforce 8200.

I know there are a lot of old threads on this, but I've not seen an actual answer to this and it's been bugging me for over a year ever since I completely de-installed Nvidia from my Win 10-64 system due to apparent failure to upgrade to new drivers and getting a popup stating "The data is invalid".

I decided to have another go and went into safe mode, deleted all Nvidia directories, deleed driver in DEV MGR and rebooted. I had downloaded the latest 388.71 WHQL 12/20/17 driver and installed. It hummed along, blanked out my screens, then came back and at the end got the popup "the data is invalid" again. Crap! I checked the directories however and all the files appeared to actually have been installed, although DEV MGR said the driver date was 6/07/17 Ver 8253 and not 8871 as I would have expected. Not sure how this was accomplished.

I went to DEV MGR and hit the update key and pointed it to the latest driver uncompiled in C:\nvidia\etc--. This completed successfully and on checking DEV MRG reported the latest driver finally installed Ver 8871 12/15/17. However, there was still no sign in Control panel of the NVIDIA control panel.. So I'm happy that I finally have the latest driver installed, but I haven't found a clear and decisive answer if I can get the Control Panel back in Windows CP. I need it to control the gamma on my system as there is no other means. I don't play games, but I do a lot of photoshop and photography so gamma and colour balance are... Read more

Hey everyone. How ya been.

Basically here's my problem. I'm trying to open the Nvidia Control Panel, and it crashes and gives me the option to check for solutions online.. and Nothing seems to get the Control Panel to open.

Yes, I've done a Re Install of Drivers, I've updated and tried the 180.43, 44, 48 and then just did the 181.20's. Still doesn't work. I was then told that the 185 extreme G drivers helped someone with same problem. So I just barely installed those, with NO luck. It's still crashing. Basically I just got my new GTX 260 today and I now can run SLI, but I can't get the darn control panel open to enable SLI... I'm going crazy here.

I googled the problem, and someone suggested I delete the nvapps.xml folder in the actual driver file location and then reinstall. I tried that as well.

If ANYONE has any idea's on how to fix this I'm very open to suggestions. I've just installed NV system Tools, but if it's anything like nTune I don't want it near my system. lol.

Please help me out. I wanna see these babies in action.

I cant enter my graphics card control panel and when i went to Nvidias site and tried automaticly detect my GPU it said i have no Nvidia GPU. I do have NVIDIA GeForce GT740M and it worked very well for the first day i bought this computer. Now i cant get to my Nvidia control panel.. When i try to get in there it says that my monitor is not connected with Nvidia graphics card. When i try to play Battlefield 3 it plays with my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000. How can i get my GT740M working again ? I refreshed my computer without loosing any apps from my windows 8. Lost only my deskopt programs. It didnt help. I tried to upgrade to the latest drivers but it didnt work. I deleted the latest drivers and tried to install a bit older drivers but i couldnt do that (Dont remember what it said). My Nvidia Geforce Experience didnt recognise my GT740M either. Is my graphics driver broken or is there some decently easy way to reconnect it. I dont see any reason how it could have broken in my use. My Nvidia also disappeared from my system tray.

I really appeciate helpful comments.

Answer:Cant enter my Nvidia control panel !

Well, it seems like an hardware issue as it happened to me recently , in that case u should visit a near-by repair shop or call the customer support of the graphics company. (If warranty still applies, your lucky)

I've having trouble with my Nvidia Control Panel. Whenever I switch to 3D Settings and then switch tab to Program Settings, this error pops up.
When I click OK the control panel shows the two Select a Program and Specify the Settings boxes, but they're both empty.

How can I get all the games to appear again?

I've already tried reinstalling the 94.24 drivers and I restarted my computer several times.

I was using a friends PC (windows XP, IE 8) and right clicked on desktop and in menu it had NVIDIA control panel, being it was something new to me I clicked on it thinking it would open and I could see what it was. Nothing really happened after clicking on it but when I did a restart all the desktop short cuts loaded blank and the names of links contained .ink after them.
None of them will open neither can I open things in Control Panel. Was going to do a system restore but again nothing will open. It was not in add/remove programs for I was in there prior to finding this and it was not listed. He said he did not download it and not aware it was there. Do I owe him a new PC or can someone bail we out of this mess?

I can't view Nvidia Control Panel nor I can't update either..

First I wanted to get the updated driver of my NVIDIA driver here:

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I went to their site, got the 195.62 version window 7 x64 (I have windows 7 x64 installed) it would download a bit and then My screen would go black and a lil music note would play, my screen would turn on after it ends and the installing window would finish but it would say:

InstallShield Wizard Complete
The system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again.

Click Finish to exit the wizard

I quickly assume, maybe something is blocking it? , I disable my firewall, my AV and it's firewall, and User Account Control Settings, I lowered it to Never notify.

I rebooted, tried again, same thing happens. So I thought maybe it isn't comparable? but I have a GTS 250 NVIDIA geforce, with windows 7 x64, and downloaded the one with those specifications ofc.

Not only that but from the beginning I couldn't view NVIDIA control panel either.

When I click NVIDIA control Panel, a pop up says"

The NVIDIA Display Panel Extension cannot be created.

Possible reasons include:
Version mismatch. Resintalling display drivers may solve this problem.

I been thinking of maybe erasing my NVIDIA drivers and reinstalling, but I'm afraid it won't download or "allow" me to download the driver of NVIDIA to make my graphic card work as it is now... ... Read more

Am on x64 and for some reason the Nvidia Control panel never installs? when installing the 195.81 x64 driver's from Nvidia.

The control panel don't show up anywhere. Normally you right click on the desktop and go to it there or find it in the taskbar but there is nothing there and there's nothing in the Nvidia Cooperation folder regarding the control panel either. However in the \Programs\NVIDIA Corporation folder there is only one file which is the NVIDIA PhysX Properties .exe, but that won't load. It says "Windows Cannot find NvCpIU.exe" which am guessing is saying it can't find the control panel.

Specs are
Gigabyte P35-S3G
Evga 9600GT SC
Emu 1820m
Samsung F1 + WD's
7 x64 Ultimate

I've got another rig with my other copy of 7 x64 with a 7600gt and everything works fine with the same driver's, I can access the Nvidia control panel without no problem.
Any advise or idea's?

I would like to enable v-sync for when I play the game Pro Evolution Soccer 6. But in Vista with the newest official Nvidia-drivers (100.65) it seems the Nvidia Control Panel won't remember the settings.
I read somewhere that I should change the write permission on the file nvapp.xml in windows/system32 and I have done that.
It has helped to insure that the entry I make in the 3d settings for the .exe file of the game remains and it seems the settings are set the way I want, but they have no effect! When enabling v-sync I should get rid of the tearing on my screen (a "line" moving cross the screen) but it makes absolutely no difference, hence I believe it doesn't remember the settings.

Any ideas what's wrong?

So I was just able to install the new forceware drivers for my brand new 8800GT.

The drivers put a *bunch* of stuff in the startup on msconfig:
RUNDLL32.exe C:\Windows\system32\nvsvc.dll,nvsvcStart
RUNDLL32.exe C:\Windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
RUNDLL32.exe C:\Windows\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit

I'm a guy that prefers as little stuff to start on startup as possible, so I was wondering just how 'optional' these are...

Are they needed?
What do they do?
What side effects would I get from disabling them?

Is there a different way of disabling them, other than simply unchecking the box in msconfig? I find that if there is a setting that can be turned off somewhere... that is a much better way to go at it.

Answer:Question about NVIDIA drivers and control panel

The NVSVC i think is the nVidia Start Center.
The 2nd is the nVidia start up for hte drivers.
The 3rd is the nVidia taskbar button.

For sure i would say the first 2 are needed. The 3rd is kinda optional. If you disable then then you could lose not only the drivers working but the only way to access the start menu.

No Nvidia control panel/driver not installing

so basically, there is the instructions:

1. Download Driver Sweeper. this program will delete all previous traces of your nvidia drivers (ones you pick). to make things easier, i copied direct links. read the first one then click I agree (theres a direct download link, but i would rather people at least know that there is no tech support on this product and can only be used at your own risk)

3. Now here is the important part. open DriverSweeper and check "NVIDIA - Display" ONLY.

4. i recommend clicking analyze (bottom left) instead of clean (bottom right) because you can at least see what the program will remove.

5. it will ask you to reboot. this is important.

6. after reboot, do NOT (I repeat) DO NOT download new drivers from nvidia sites. after doing so about 3 times, each installation worked, however said it failed to install nvidia control panel. so do the

7. Navigate to the following: start > search "windows update" > click enter > click # optional updates avialable". Look for anything that says "NVIDIA display". If there is nothing that says that, click check for updates on the left hand column.

Hello, I am posting to do the low performance and issues I have been having with my new XPS 8910
GPU(s): INTEL HD GRAPHICS 530 & GTX 1070 (8271MB)
HARD DRIVE: 2tb 7200rpm
CPU: i7 6700k 4.2ghz
My issue I have been having is the NVIDIA Control Panel not using my 1070. When I open the NVIDIA control panel, it states the following:
NVIDIA Display settings are not available: You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU. When I open device manager, I see both the HD Graphics 530 and the 1070. When I get in game however, I get performance that is not typical of a 1070. I get around 30 fps with CSGO on max @ 1440p , which I believe the FPS should be higher. If anyone has a fix so I can load NVIDIA Control Panel, it would be great. Also, I have tried disabling the HD Graphics 530, and it makes the system unusable.

Make sure you connected the monitor to the video card and not to the on board video. It sounds like you connected to Intel 530 instead of Nvidia card. A video card will be in the #6 section not  #11 or 12.

Ez Crew,

Having a major problem trying to install the latest drivers for my 8800GT, I went to hook my rig up to my 42" LCD TV through the HDMI input (something I did all the time while on XP) after a clean install of Win7 X64. I noticed the desktop was to big for the screen so I went to install 191 driver so I could get the control panel to adjust it.

The install starts fine gets to the installing drivers box but then the install just hangs go's blank, comes back hangs then get a notice say something like "the system could not be updated......."

I've tired unistalling the drivers from the device manager and reinsatlling all in safe mode. The same thing happened trying to install the driver again and there was no "Display Adapter " in device manager. I then restarted and the card installed(the driver?) it's self again

When I check the driver version its

Anyone have any ideas whats going?

Hi, A few days ago, I made a small purchase.
I bought 2x ZOTAC nVidia GTS 450's and a SLi Bridge connector.

I've read around that the SLi enable option should be available under the 3D section, with the PhysX configuration, but it's just simply NOT there.

Even GPU-Z says that SLi is disabled!

The video cards are installed, I disabled my onboard video from my Motherboard Bios.
But still, it does not let me SLi those bad boys to squeeze max performance out of my pc.

What should I do?

Video Card:

SLi Bridge connector:

Answer:Dual GTS 450's in SLi. Option does NOT appear in nVidia Control Panel.

For starters you cannot run SLI on an AMD chipset, you need a motherboard with a Nvidia chipset. Short of replacing your motherboard or running a single card, there isn't much you can do other than returning the cards and going with a single card or getting two AMD cards to run in Crossfire if you want dual cards.

Personally I would return them and go with a single card. For what you paid for those two (or at least the price on Newegg at the moment) you could have got a GTX 470 or HD 6950, either of which performs about the same (or a bit faster in some cases) as 2 GTS 450's in SLI.

Hey Folks,

I am running build 7127 of Windows 7 x64, with the latest N-Vidia Drivers from their website.

Basically the problem I have is that my N-Vidia Control Panel settings do not seem to be applying.

I have the advanced settings option set, with anti-aliasing, and all of the other settings turned up to max, however these settings are not applying to any of my games or programs.

I was previously running build 7067 with the March Drivers and these settings worked fine, however they do not seem to be working here.

I tried rolling back to the March drivers however this did not resolve the problem which leads me to suspect some issue in the OS?

Any solutions people?

Hi, all!

I hope this is the right section to be posting this in.

I've been having a lot of issues with my computer, a refurbished/modified Sony Vaio.
I just got it back from a computer repair store where they were replacing the fan, as my old fan had up and died. The computer had been slow before then, but after getting it back from him, I've found its performance has taken an absolute nosedive.
While trying to disk defragment, AVG came up with multiple security warnings. I allowed it to exterminate the threats without much thought. Afterwards, I had realized that I believe it messed with my NVIDIA software. Ever since the AVG debacle, the NVIDIA Control Panel refuses to open. I have tried to install the drivers for my graphics card, but in going through the setup, it gives me an error saying it could not find compatible graphics hardware.

Any help with getting my NVIDIA back would be greatly appreciated!

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400

Let me know if you need any other information!

Answer:Solved: NVIDIA Control Panel won't open

Fixed it! After searching about AVG, I was able to restore the NVIDIA components that it had disabled. Sorry for the trouble!

Whenever I right click on a film clip, to select the player I wish to use, I receive the following error message:

The NVIDIA Display Control Panel Extension cannot be created.

Possible reasons include:
version mismatch. Reinstalling display drivers may solve the problem.

The error message disappears after four attempts to close it, and then the normal right-click menu appears.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a new video card Nvidia Geforce GT520 2GB. I uninstalled the driver for my old graphics card and install the brand new driver for the new graphics card. Everything is working except:

In the Nvidia Control Panel under Adjust Desktop Color Settings I'm using Use NVIDIA Settings instead of Other applications control color settings. I have my own color settings programmed in for RGB, But when I run certain games as soon as the game pops up the color settings get reverted back to the default settings before I changed it even though the adjustments are not changed in the Nvidia Control Panel. The only solution I have been doing to try to fix this is after the game loads up I open up the Nvidia Control Panel and switch it between Other applications control color settings and back to Use NVIDIA Settings and hit cancel. Then the color is fixed but only temporarily. It's fixed during that session and the next time I run the game it still reverts back to the old settings until I mess with the control panel again.

All I'm looking to find out here is besides the Nvidia Control Panel is there any other place maybe in the control panel or registry that determines a program controlling the color settings? Something I can disable?

It happens with a couple of my games. Everquest 2 being one of them. I've already contacted Nvidia that said it was SoE's problem and SoE's said if it's not Nvidia's problem then there is nothing they can do o... Read more

Whenever I try to open NVIDIA nForce Control Panel, it crashes, the details are: AppName: sndstorm.exe AppVer: ModName: sndstorm.exe
ModVer: Offset: 00013a3d

My guess as to fixing this problem would be to update a driver, I tried updating my audio driver and rolling it back, didn't fix the problem

Is there something I need to do with sndstorm.exe?

I am using NVidia drivers 93.71. When I first installed them, the new control panel showed 3 "Application Modules" - Display; Video and TV; and 3D Settings. The latter was most useful as it allowed me to change the performance settings for individual programmes.I have just had to re-install XP - with no change in hardware - yet when I install the 93.71 drivers I have lost the "3D settings" module and only see the other two.I have tried all possible options in the control panel set up with no change so very grateful for any help on where to look next! Many thanks

Answer:NVidia Control Panel - Lost 3D Settings

This is a 'shot in the dark suggestion' - as you had to re-install XP you may have an old version of Direct X that is not compatible with NVidia drivers 93.71.

Have you tried re-installing the drivers? In the setup there is an option to make a "clean install" removing all installed settings and profiles. Try it.

Go to Start, Program Files, Nvidia, and you should see one called Control Panel somewhere in there. That worked for me anyway.

So guys, did Lenovo screw us over on this one thanks to Optimus or what? Apparently no matter what driver I use, the y580 only uses the Intel chip for Display Scaling, so I can't do custom resolutions. Anyway to override this thru BIOS or a custom driver or will I have to return this and demand a refund?

Answer:660M - No "Display" tab in Nvidia Control Panel

Alright, so an update to what I've found so far: You *can* set custom resoloutions within the Intel Graphics Properties panel (Advanced View) but any resoloution you set only gives you the "This custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth" even though the HD4000 should handle it fine + the 600m handles 2560x1440 just fine. Great. Fantastic. $1000 spent right here.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and I can't seem to find my Graphics control panel to control 3d graphics and such. It's completely gone. I use to be able to right click my desktop and go straight to it now its gone. The other way I use to get to it is by right click my desktop and going to Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings and there use to be something that would take me there too. I've gone to Device Manager and have made sure that everything is up to date. This is driving me crazy it just completely removed my graphics control panel, and I think it's reset my graphics too so I need to be able to change it but I can't. I've searched the Internet and youtube and still can't find anyone having this problem.

This is how I use to get to it: That is completely gone.

Answer:Nvidia Graphics Control Panel is missing

Hi, can you go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Display Adapters, rt click on the device, properties, and check what driver is actually installed?

And what device is listed there?

I found when I upgraded from Win 8.1 that initially a basic MS driver was installed (and the screen display stretched to the right off the physical screen). Only after quite a few hours did I get an Nvidia driver automatically installed.

Hi all, I have a y470, with nVidia GT550M.Starting from about two weeks ago after I uninstalled PES2012 from my laptop, whenever I visited "manage 3D settings" page in the nVidia control Panel, it crashes and Windows 7 tells me to shut it down. (and the crash report suggests that nvgames.dll is at fault) Hence I cannot assign the programs to the nVidia card. I have tried to open it in safemode, and I have tried a "clean" re-install and even installed the new (beta) version of driver (now 290.53), but neither have fixed the problem. I asked nvidia for help and they said mine is an OEM version and I should refer to Lenovo instead.Has anyone got a solution? Thanks in advance

Answer:y470: nVidia Control Panel crash

did you mean re-installing drivers or operation system ( "clean re-install"? )

I have a GeForce GTX 960 with driver version 384.94 and also a Sabrent USB-1612 with DisplayLink 8.2.2152.0.

My issue is that when the DisplayLink driver is installed the Nvidia Control Panel settings only have "Stereoscopic 3D" setting available and not the typical display and video settings as well.

If I remove the DisplayLink driver I get all the settings back.

Is it possible to resolve this conflict and to get the Nvidia Control Panel to retain all the setting/configuration menu items?

Hello guys,

I am having some real annoying problems with the nVidia Control Panel + Drivers (Geforce GT220), for about a year or two now lol.
So I currently have the 275.33 installed, and every time there's an update I have tried to update the drivers but with no luck.

Okey this is what happens every time:
I download the right driver, in this case, the very latest (295.73-desktop-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe) and extract the files.
I run as administrator the installer, accept terms and accept & install.
It starts well, after about 20% of the progressbar, the installation stops at nVidia Control Panel and it says "Error". And nothing else can be done. I've been stuck with the 275.33 drivers for months!

I've tried the following:
1. Perform a "Clean Install". Deleted my drivers, and then fails at the Control Panel installation.
2. Uninstall drivers in normal mode. Reboot into safe mode, use Driver Sweeper to clean leftover files, clean registry with CCleaner. Boot back into normal mode, run installer, it fails. Have to system restore to get drivers back installed (not even the 275.33 installation works!)
3. I've even tried following a suggestion I found online, I totally uninstalled the drivers, and then used Windows Update to find the drivers. (I hate using Windows Update to update anything but the OS). The updates failed.

Answer:nVidia Control Panel & Drivers Problems

A few suggestions.
Install the executable, without using "Run as administrator".
Use 7-Zip, WinZip, etc., extract the files and use setup.exe to install.
Try installing the Display Driver using nvcplsetupeng.exe, inside the folder.
