No new hardware, can't find drivers even after clean install

Question: No new hardware, can't find drivers even after clean install

So, my computer suddenly started finding a handful of devices it can't find drivers for. I didn't add any new hardware. After trying all I could think of I resorted to trying a clean install. Sadly that did not help.

Can someone advise me on where to begin to diagnose this problem? Obviously I'm not very experienced with this.

I'm sure you'll need more information to truly help with this, but I'm not sure what to provide or how to obtain it.

Preferred Solution: No new hardware, can't find drivers even after clean install

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: No new hardware, can't find drivers even after clean install

Please provide more information. What do you mean your system is finding devices for which it can't find drivers? Please explain IN DETAIL.

Also, after the clean install did you download and install the chipset driver followed by all other appropriate drivers? Look in device manager - any yellow or red symbols?

I recently completed a clean install of Windows 7 on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite l655-s5150). However, I am unable to update my drivers as my computer cannot identify most of my hardware.
Under device manager it has "Other Devices" listed as "Ethernet Controller", "Network Controller", and "PCI Simple Communications Controller". All three have a yellow exclamation mark next to them and Manufacturer: Unknown.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer:Cannot Find Hardware After Clean Install

Go to Toshiba Support, click on the Download tab and enter your system details. Download and install the chipset drivers and then the remaining items should be recognised. You can then download and install the other missing drivers if Windows does not install them automatically.

Hi,

Just did a clean install of W7 64 and all is fine except that I'm missing a few drivers.

Ethernet controller, SM Bus Controller and Universal serial bus controller.

MS couldn't fine them on line.

System has an ASUSTEK P8P67 Pro mother board and I've tried downloading drivers from their site, bit it didn't help.

BIOS is American Megatrends

Any help with how to get the drivers would be much appreciated.

Hi all, until last night everything was ok. After I'd cleaned the computer and plugged everything back in windows decides it can't find drivers for any of my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, camera, gamepad, joystick).

When it finds them it says new hardware found. with 3 choices:
Locate and install driver
Ask me again later
Don't show this message again

So I click the first option, and it searches for drivers but...'Could not find driver software'. I then click 'Check online for a solution' with no luck.

These devices are so basic that the manufacturers don't supply drivers for the products; they should all be with the OS.

What can I do guys? I'm a keen photographer and not being able to upload my photos via the camera or card reader is a real issue for me.

By the way the above process happens for all the usb hardware I have except the printer, usb flash drive, mouse and keyboard (luckily!)

Answer:Vista can't find its hardware drivers, Most usb devices won't install

I have a copy of all of the drivers on my main desktop but when put them in my Drivers and Driver Store folders  have to re-install Windows again. I have the Adapter ID if you can help me find the drivers and would like any and all help finding the correct drivers.

Hello,

This is my first thread here...so be gentle. I am not entirely inexperienced in building PCs (i've built 2: 1 mid-range and 1 gaming/workstation), but i have NEVER had this many issues with either the XP or Vista machines that I built.

Ok, i built a "whitebox" for a friend at work and they wanted to windows 7 64bit. So, i built the machine and have been trying to figure out how to get it to recognize the HD for the past 4 hours... mainly thanks to Samsung for making impossible to find drivers on their website for the Spinpoint F1 HD102UJ 1TB hard drive and i am also having problems finding drivers from the Gigabyte website... Anyway, suggestions? I gone through all the suggestions about checking the BIOS for RAID settings, but there is only 1 drive in this machine.

Furthermore, after trying to find the drivers online for about 2 hours...i ended up reformatting the drive from the utility disk that samsung had on their website....

The specs are:
Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H (AM3/DDR2)OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W
AMD Athalon II x2 250 Regor
4g OCZ Reaper DDR2-800
LG DVD+/-RW (SATAII)
Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD102UJ 1TB
Thanks for the help!!

I am repairing a friends Pavilion dv6 laptop were the Toshiba hard drive had completely failed - even the Recovery partition was unreadable. I have installed a new WD Black hard drive and loaded Windows 7 Home Premium using my own OEM disc and the Product Key provided with the laptop. Activation was successful. My problem is that generic  Drivers have been loaded for all the major hardware such as display, sound system, graphics etc and I want to "upgrade" to the specific manufacturer's drivers. I have looked up Pavilion dv6-3139tx on the HP drivers download but as I am unsure of exactly the hardware I have installed it is difficult to know which driver may be suitable and in the instance of the graphics where I downloaded the specified Intel HD Graphics driver I got an error message when loading saying that "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". If I run the Intel Driver Update Utility it reports that "No drivers were detected for your product" My question is how can I identify the precise hardware present in this laptop so that I can then find and install the correct driver? The Product number of this laptop is XV832PA#ABG and the Serial number is CNF0398HQL Any help on finding the correct drivers would be appreciated Thanks

Guys, I got my U350 Win 7 upgrade discs yesterday and I've performed a clean install.  I've installed the easy camera application from Lenovo support site and it works well. After I installed the Lenovo Energy Management software, all the Fn buttons are also working and they are showing the little graphic image on the screen (like volume up/down, camera on/ff etc). Any idea, why the ReadyComm software used?  The only drivers I've installed from the Win 7 upgrade disc 2 are, 1. Ethernet driver2. Chipset driver (even though I guess it is not required, as my screen resolution was perfect with out it)3. Sound driver (sound card was working but to get the Dolby and Smart Audio applications, I've installed it)4. Energy Management5. Camera software (i inturrepted the driver installation in between, but before that as well Win 7 recognized my camera and the driver is from Microsoft and not from Lenovo) I'm not sure if I need to install any other drivers. So far, so good with my U350 + Win 7.  No problems detected. I read on some other forum that people are having issues with Sleep and Wakeup. I tried to put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid and after a little while I tried to wake it up, but it was not coming so I had to do a hard restart. Afterthat I've changed the settings under "Power Options:" in control panel on what to do when the lid closed, what to do when the sleep or power button pressed, and it was good t... When I installed the Intel matrix storage monitor driver (I'm not sure what is the need of this?), when the system restarted the Harddisk was making very loud noice when the Windows Login screen appeared.  (I guess that is when the application actually loads (at the login screen) and is causing that sound). I was scared of damazing the hard disk and I've uninstalled that driver and the sound is gone.  now it runs nice and smooth. Do we need to install this driver at all? Whats the use?  Anybody else has the same problems? 3. Also, what is the use of ReadyComm software?

After much turmoil, I was finally able to replace a failed hard drive on my Lenovo z585 and get a fresh copy of windows 7 back on it. Which is what it came with originally. The install had many drivers missing. I was able to get some some from the Lenovo support page, for the z585, but there a some that won't update on their own when I prompt them to...and those also don't have a Windows 7 driver on the support page...only windows 8. Why doesn't Lenovo have all the Win 7 drivers available ? Some drivers are available for both win 7 & 8 but others are windows 8 only ? ....and I need them. The chipset is also only available for win 8. also USB 2.0 etc.... Can someone please help me? I've only run into problem after problem, endlessly...Thanks here's an image of what my computer is asking for:

my astranet ia101 scanner has a problem. i need to reinstall it to my pc, because of a hard drive crash and the techs had to wipe and reformat my drive, so i have to put everything back on it. i have reinstalled it before many times with no problem, but this time for some reason, my computer won't find the device driver for it now. i installed it with my disc that came with the scanner, and i also tried with a download from the umax website. when i restart my pc, windows recognizes that there is new hardware, but cannot find the driver. when i click on the vistascan icon, it tries to find it, but says, error, scanner access failed. everytime i run the windows add hardware wizard, it says cannot locate drivers for the scanner. the windows hardware wizard always asks me to put the windows 98 cd in, but the drivers aren't there. they are on the scanner cd and on my computer somewhere. after i installed the vistascan from the disc, it said successful install. the vista shuttle and the copy utility are fine- just the vista scan. how do i solve this? i have windows 98 on my pc.

- OS is 3 days old, thats when I reinstalled it to get rid of driver BSOD's

The crashes seem quite random, this is one of the first I had on this fresh OS install. I had 2 others, but I got cleaned by ccleaner.
The memory has been tested 16 hours/16passes by memtest, no errors. My first set of ram was corrupted, so I had those changed. I had memory_management BSOD's because of those faulty modules. Haven't seen that specific one yet with the new modules, so that should be O.K! All temperatures are OK.

All at default speeds, no overclocking. The only thing I changed were the memory timings and voltages. The BSOD that is attached happened when I was playing Medal of Honor. Yesterday I had a BSOD when the PC was idle in Windows. But as I said, the previous two errors were cleaned.

Thanks in advance, will post any other BSOD I get in the meanwhile as well!

So it has been years (literally) since my last Windows install - this was on 7 and that install lasted through the upgrade to Win 10.

I upgraded to 10 from a 7 retail license, but I am not clear on how a clean install ought to be handled as I am getting ready to jump to new hardware sometime this year. I am strongly considering jumping to all AMD here since these offer similar performance and are unaffected by the security vulnerabilities recently exposed on intel products.

Anyone do this recently - and like me - have to install to new hardware - with a digital license? Any advice to offer?

Answer:Clean 10 install - new hardware - ?

You can associate your current digital license to a Microsoft account so doesn't matter if you change all the hardware you will still be able to validate a new windows 10 installation on all new hardware. It is the easiest way.

PC with Windows ME. When instaling new hardware, system searches for drivers and frequently fails to find them, apparently because it is looking in the directory. For example, I was installing a USB linked magnetic card reader and the following message appeared in a window headed 'New Hardware Found'."File USBNTMAP.SYS was not foundWindows needs the disk labelled Windows Millenium Edition to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer.Copy files from C:|Program files\Creative\....."If I then use the browse button to point the system at C:\Windows\system32\driversit sometimes works, and anyway the files it is looking for are invariably some within the Windows directory. Is there any way I can get the system to look in the right place automatically in stead of looking in the Creative soundblaster directory for a standard Windows ME driver??!!??Any help will be gratefully received.MJ

I've just upgraded my CPU and motherboard (Intel to AMD) and I've been trying to do a clean install of Windows so that I can prevent any issues but the Reset my PC option doesn't work. Whenever I try, it just ends up with a message saying "could not reset pc. No changes were made". I am using Windows 10 Education that I got for free through my school if that helps. The windows refresh tool does not work either.

Answer:Trying to clean install my PC after changing hardware

If you want to do a clean install, you need to boot the computer from a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive or DVD. Select the custom install option. Delete the partitions that are there now (you can save any data partitions if you have them). Then select the unallocated space to install to.

So I just got a real steal deal on a new i5-2500K and an Asrock z68 motherboard from Microcenter; and have some new G.Skill DDR3 on the way from Newegg.

I am an AMD build, to an Intel build... which will be my first Intel in 10 years; I got into AMD back with the old K6-2's...

Anyway, I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate.

I am going to pull out all my AMD stuff eventually, motherboard, Phenom II 955, and its Ram kit; then replace it all with the Intel parts.

Obviously, I am going to want to do a complete, total wipe of my HDD, and reinstall from scratch off a clean slate.

Before I do that, I would like to know the best option for backing up most of my data.

Go I go.. PCName>>>Local Disk (C)>>>Users>>>Myname

...and just copy/back up the entire "Myname" folder; which contains all the AppData, My Docs folders, etc ?

Then copy that all back onto the new installation?

Answer:Clean Re-Install of Win7 with new Hardware

Yes you can do that however re-importing hidden AppData settings is a corruption path into a brand new clean reinstall so it's better to not import any but the active User folders, then start fresh.

Hi all,

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop, Amilo Li2735, model M52228, which has performed faultlessly for the last 7 years. The HDD has now 'failed' with random corrupted files so I have installed a brand new HDD and attempted a clean re-install using the original DVD system restore discs I made when the laptop was new.

The install appears to go smoothly and goes through the usual screens: Factory Defaults restored successfully, then reboots with 'Please wait while Windows sets up your computer', followed by the (common?) error of 'Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware.'

No changes have been made to the laptop since new, and the original SATA HDD was replaced by a conservative WD 500Gb SATA II drive, which I was told is backwards compatible with SATA.

I would really like to get this laptop working again, so any help would be appreciated. It's been a great piece of kit and for the low cost of a new drive it seems a waste to bin it.

In anticipation - John

Answer:Please help with clean install: cannot configure on hardware error...

Try to reinstall windows without your system restore discs. Use a clean windows installation disk.

XFX Radeon 5770
G.Skill 3x2GB DDR3 1600
Corsair TX 750watt PSU
A single SATA WD Caviar Black 640GB
A single SATA Lite-on CD/DVD burner

Building went just fine- everything posted right away. I set up a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Ubuntu 9.10 dual boot. Two partitions for the two OSes, and a third for general storage. My copy of Win7 was purchased from my university's webstore, and the .iso burned to DVD using ImgBurn on a slow speed. The installs went smoothly, everything operated well for about a week.

I started to get some error message about win32kernell.dll being messed up. I thought I might have let AVG move something it shouldn't have. Then on a reboot, I got the "Windows was unable to start" jazz and the repairer, which eventually let me back into the OS, which was still not running smoothly, same error. I didn't have much installed on the machine yet, and decided to just do a new clean install from my install disk rather than mess with it.

Win7 reinstalled smoothly on its partition, if slow, and it seemed alright again for about a day. I then started receiving errors about installers not being able to run properly, and then on reboot, Windows was unable to start again. The repairer got me into the OS, but Windows Explorer was crashing every three seconds and it was unfortunately rather fubared.

After trying a bunch of things (including some good suggestions from the forum), I gave up and did a clean Win10 install. To be clear, this was a disk format, followed by a fresh/clean install using the Windows 10 .iso image from Microsoft. This is a new thread because I re-installed Windows 10.
To my astonishment, within a day of the clean install, I already got a BSOD, this time saying "Stop Code: Memory Management". This happened as soon as I woke the machine up from idle sleep. Starting to wonder if I have hardware issues. I have installed minimal things beyond the fresh windows copy, including latest Radeon video drivers, but I don't think that's it. I've run the memcheck and diskcheck utility a bunch of times, with no problems indicated. Welcome everyone's thoughts, and thank you again!

CAUSED BY: memory_corruption

PROCESS: LockApp.exe

Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel

Since like u said, there were different bugcheck codes,

The cause for different error codes are usually hardware and lower level problems.

U should begin with memtest, running 8 passes:

Diagnostic Test

 RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

   Note
MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C50 loaded with windows 8 but want to revert to windows 7.

I have downloaded the necessary drivers and have mounted the .exe files onto a USB pen for installation.

Before I proceed to wipe windows 8 I'd like to know - if I install 7, will my trackpad stop functioning?

If so, how do I install the relevant drivers from the USB pen?

Thanks, John

Answer:Clean install of windows 7 - how to install drivers from USB memory stick?

99.9% sure that W7 will identify the trackpad and install it. You just run the exe's using file explorer or Start >Run then browse. You may decide to leave the laptop as the W7 install left it but you should check Device Manager to ensure there are no unrecognised devices

Hey,

I need help, the sound driver for the tecra m2 laptop is

+soundMAX integrated digital audio+ *Version:* +5.12.1.5160+

I have recently wiped the computer with a clean install of windows XP. All drivers appear to work correctly after installation, except sound related ones. When I try to install the correct SoundMAX driver (i know it is correct, I have another tecra m2 laptop that is exactly the same) the following error message appears right at the end of the installation.

+"Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again."+

When i reboot, the same thing happens. I have installed the intel chipset drivers, rebooted, and tried: Same result.
When i go to device manager, all devices are accounted for except one unknown device which is a yellow questionmark with a small exclamation mark on it. The soundmax device is not there.
I have also tried reinstalling windows and then the drivers again with the sound last, same result.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me to fix this. If you need system data, and you know a program to get system data, send me a link and i will post the data.

Cheers,
Rob

Answer:Unable to install SoundMAX drivers for Tecra M2 after clean WXP install

Did you install a Retail/Street version of XP? Or did you use the Toshiba Recovery Disc?

What Service Pack does XP have installed?

If you installed SP2 or SP3, you may need to get an updated sound driver from the Toshiba website.

Also update the BIOS and reset the BIOS to its default settings.

that's pretty much the topic.. did a clean win7x64 with sp1 install, but now some drivers are missing, i cant use the ethernet, or the Fn keys on laptop.. does someone knows a solution?

these are the ethernet possibilities, i got them trough the info on the windows 8 driver:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136="Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller"
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168="Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller"

so far this is the biggest issue, and the brightness Fn keys..

Answer:clean win7x64 installed on hp dm1 4302ep(win8),now i cant find drivers

Did you plug in by wire for install to see if the installer provides the driver as it will 70% of the time?

If not import the driver from the HP Support Downloads webpage for your model PC. Use Win8 driver if necessary. When I check Software & driver downloads HP Pavilion dm1-4302ep Notebook PC | HP? Support under Network drivers it shows this Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver

Once connected to internet, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) to run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates to completion. After requested reboots, go back to Check for Updates until there are no more.

If any drivers remain missing in Device Manager after all Updates are completed, import them from the same HP webpage. Some may be elements of the chipset. We can help you if you ask back.

my current setup is that i (believe) i did a clean install of win 7 prof over my old win xp. but in any case, i have a new mobo, cpu and ram and im assuming i have to reinstall windows because of the hardware change.

since this is an upgrade version, do i have to reinstall xp first before i install win 7? or can i just install the win 7 w/o having to bother with the xp at all?

Answer:new hardware, can i do a clean install with a retail upgrade version?

Hello Natty, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yeah, usually with a new different model motherboard you'll need to reinstall the OS.

You will not have to install XP first. The tutorial below can help show you how to do a clean install with a upgrade copy of Windows 7.

So a few months back I upgraded for free from win7 to win10 Pro. Today I got a new CPU, RAM, MBO (also currently using the new MBO onboard GPU, waiting for my new one) and did a clean install of Win10 (from USB created with MediaCreationToolkit). Now I remember reading somewhere about steps to activate Windows 10 after hardware change, but can't seem to find it anywhere, so thought I'd ask here.
The error I'm getting: 0x004C003 The activation server determined the specified product key is blocked.

The thing is I need to get this PC up to my needs fast, and this doesn't cope well with that...

Thanks for the help!

Answer:Windows 10 clean install not activated (Hardware upgraded)

Hi marq020, welcome to Ten Forums. Windows 10 is a free upgrade from win 7. What you did is basically install it fresh on a new computer. If you have a full retail version of win 7 install that first and then upgrade. If you have a OEM version that came on your system then you are probably out of luck. European laws are different so there might be a way around it that I don't know about.

Hi all,

I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs.

I keep getting an error along the following lines:

Quote:
ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Win7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.

Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.

I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

Answer:IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install

Do you actually have the newer IDT audio chip or an older SigmaTel audio chip. In most cases the newer IDT drivers will not work with the older SigmaTel chips.

If the drivers are Vista compatible and the correct IDT or Sigmatel (32 and/or 64) they should work in Win 7.

When you reinstalled did you install any motherboard chipset drivers? Generally, on a reinstall if the chipset drivers are not installed then some device drivers and especially sound drivers will not install.

I'm typing this from my laptop (Thank goodness I have one). I'll install Win7 home edition once its out. This guide here is pretty clear on how to do a clean install, but i still have a question. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

What drivers will i need to install after Win7 is installed ???? Obviously my GPU driver, but what other drivers will i need ?

Thx.

Answer:After a clean install of Win7, what drivers ill need to install ?

Depends on your hardware.
I do latest versions of...
*Motherboard/Chipset .infs...to build a good foundatoin
*Graphics
*SATA controller/RAID controller
*Sound/NIC, including wireless NIC

If it's a laptop, add some system drivers for those function keys, power management for proper hiber/standby, hard drive shock protection.

Yeah some people will say "But Windows 7 has most of those, just use Microsoft Update"

Well, it's been the same for all prior versions of Windows, yes the latest OS will usually include built in drivers for existing hardware out there. Vista had more drivers for existing hardware than XP when Vista first came out. And XP had more drivers for existing hardware than 2K when it first came out. And 98Se had more drivers for existing hardware than 95 when it first came out...blah blah blah blah blah, same ol same ol if you've been in the game for a few years.

But for optimal performance and stability, the latest drivers from the manufacturer are usually the best option.

Now to toss a monkey wrench in the mix, since Win7 isn't officially released to the pub yet, many manufacturers haven't released their latest drivers for 7 yet. The Vista ones may work fine, the ones Win7 has built in may work fine, or you just may have to wait.

I'm trying to clean install Windows 8 Pro x64 under UEFI and RAID on a ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard on a blank SSD. I'm installing from an OEM system builders DVD. I plan to create a RAID1 array later after successful installation of Windows.

For the installation I do the following:-

I'm using these BIOS settings:-

SATA Mode set to RAID
CSM set to Disable
Secure Boot set to Windows UEFI Mode

I press F8 and select the UEFI option on the DVD

The installation procedure then starts but after the screen where I enter the language, country etc I get a screen which says that SATA drivers cannot be found and that I should browse to their location.

I have downloaded all the drivers from the ASUS site for this board onto a USB pen drive. When I browse to this location the installation procedure says no drivers can be found there.

Please advise exactly which SATA drivers the installation procedure wants and where I can find them.

Many thanks for help.

I had a system that was blue screening and having sporadic critical Kernel-Power errors. I have since replaced the power supply, motherboard, CPU, graphics card and RAM. the only parts that remained were the ODD and HDD.. I am still getting Kernel-Power errors ("information" and "error" level only now) but it is not blue screening.

I read another thread that made me think it could be my old power strip/surge protector that could be failing. but I'd like to ask if this would possibly be the hard drive? it was wiped, reformatted and a clean install of Windows was done. Win 10 installs and opens the first time. Once it gets reset (it automatically starts downloading updates and requires a reset), it boots back to a black screen where nothing happens. I tried repair, etc. from the Win10 installation DVD, but it gives me an error. I have deleted all content on the HD and done a clean install at least 10 times. I have tried DDU (driver display uninstaller), and that was able to boot once, but required another reboot, during which it said "Unable to install updates, removing updates" (windows updates, not DDU updates) or something like that. Then it booted to a black screen again.

This is a brand new build with SSD, HDD, ODD, and GTX 970. I have downloaded the latest 970 driver from Nvidia web site, tried installing from Nvidia CD, tried DDU then GEforce Experience, etc. All ultimately end in black screen on reboot.

I can boot into safe mode if I go into msconfig on first initial boot at the completion of installation. If I don't do safe mode, I get black screen on next normal mode reboot no matter what I do.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:New install on clean hardware, 64bit, endless black screen on reboot

It's probably the graphics driver. Boot into safe mode and see what it is in Device Manager (search for it). If it is Microsoft, it means that Windows Update decided the nVidia driver is old or incompatible with Windows 10 and replaced with a Microsoft driver instead. Try to run the setup or manually install the nVidia driver. While in Control Panel, expand the display adapters list by clicking on the +. Then choose your graphics card, right click and select Properties. Now click on the Driver tab. Driver provider should be nVidia not Microsoft. To manually install the nVidia drivers, click the Update driver button. Always select last option until you see a "Have disk" button. Press that button and browse to the folder where the driver files are extracted (usually in This Computer, C:, nVidia folder). Then you should be presented with the model that is most compatible to your hardware. Click on it and proceed with the installation. Reboot and you should be OK.

Another cause of your problem is probably that the chosen display settings (resolution and color depth) are incompatibile with your monitor, hence you see a black screen instead of the desktop. This happens rarely and it is because Windows didn't identify the monitor correctly, so it tries to set an unsupported resolution. To see if this is your case, reboot some times until you see the troubleshoot screen. Choose advance boot options and then the one that says "Low Resolution" or similar. This will... Read more

Hi , Recently I installed Partition Magic on my Dell Studio 1555 Win 7(64-bit) for the sake of driver partition but it screwed my OS and altered partition tables, restarting was giving BSOD,

I am upgrading from Vista premium to 7 pro. I'm doing a clean install.
I have read allot to prepare and I am lost when it comes to the following questions.
Yes I know I ask allot of questions but I'm stupid and it's my job.

I have read that I need to download all the latest system device drivers before I install.
I would then have to also get directions on how to install as some require special methods
I have gleaned that some will come with installers.
Then I guess the others I would go to device manager right click on a sub menu and click upgrade driver and browse to where I have it stored, right?
In order for me to know what drivers I need I have read the following tips.
1. Run DriverMax and go by the list it provides.
2. Any sub menu in device manager is a driver I will need.
3. Go to my pc manufacturer (hP) and input my model # and OS version to see list
4. Run SIW or Belarc to get a list.
These are the problems:
They all 4 seem to list the drivers differently-very confusing
I have found that some of the list splits some drivers into 2 or 3 names.
In Device manager, Sub menu under Computer says: ACPIx86-based pc. ? This is a driver name?
Every list has different amount of drivers listed. No way this newbie will ever figure it out.

The word "Latest" is in a lot of tutorials, when describing what version of the driver I need. Yet I have heard if it isn't broke don’t fix it.
Hp will not even give a list of drivers for the windows 7 Os.

Answer:How to know what drivers you will need for clean install.

This is not XP. Win7 is driver-complete with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates when you enable driver auto-updating: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for the Device or Computer model.

I would not change out any drivers given by the installer/Updates unless performance problems are confirmed to be caused by them. Driver programs, like registry and optimizer programs, are not advised in Win7.

Put any wireless driver on a stick just in case so you can get online quickly after install to run your Updates.

On my Desktop for reasons that arent important now (I would think) I had to do a clean reinstall of Windows XP Pro on my Dell computer....Because of this I dont have my internet back on it yet for the time being....Anyway, when I went to play a game on it today, I get this message....'No hardware acceleration detected.Your system does not support hardware acceleration or your video drivers should be updated.'Now, when I do a clean install, wouldnt these drivers be installed as part of that process? When the computer was as before the reinstall I dont recall ever having to update drivers or anything like that, should I be concerned about this?Or would this be something that is updated once I'm able to verify my Windows installation once I get online?

Answer:Drivers After Clean Install

Another question, after this clean install I cannot change my Screen Resolution at all, the slider bar wont allow me to adjust it, as well as my color quality, because of this I couldnt install my wireless modem software, because it requires higher settings to run the disk, hence my not getting online, tried adjusting every setting I could think of, any ideas?

I know this has been asked to DEATH but 7 forums search doesn't seem to be working.

I have just purchase a new ati 7870 gfx card from newegg and am wanting to clean install the drivers.

Do I simply go to device manager and remove the old 8800 drivers? Or is there a more complete method that people prefer?

Thanks

Answer:How do i clean install drivers?

simply just uninstal the nvidia drivers and then download the latest amd drivers from their website. the drivers are part of the nvidia experience software so simply uninstalling that from the add or remove software page.

you only need to worry about fully removing the nvidia drivers using aftermarket cleaners if you run into driver issues with the new card.

I've just installed a clean Windows 7 Ultimate on a brand new Acer Aspire 5750.

The lan nor wireless didn't work out of the box. After installing the Gigabit lan drivers it found the network card.
But it can't find the wireless.

When I try to install the Wireless drivers from: (http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3474)
It's the Atheros card I have. So when I try to install the Wireless Lan Atheros drivers it sais:
"The device doesn't exist. Please plug the device back in and try again"

What do I do now? It's a laptop, I can't exactly remove the network card.

Answer:Can't find wireless card after clean install of Win7

have a look in the bios settings and see if there is an option to disable the wireless LAN

If that isn't clear; can I do a clean install on a formatted HD with the Win 7 upgrade version by inserting at some point, my original Vista disk?

Although nobody knows for sure. I don't believe that you will be able to upgrade anything which isn't installed and Activated. Microsoft hasn't done an actual media check in quite some time...so that method is almost guaranteed to not be an option.

Hello!

I've been trying to install win7 ultimate Upgrade on a M.2 SSD (SM951 Nvme). I have found a Nvme SSD driver that i could load during setup that shows my drive. Since this was quite an ordeal I will try and retrace my steps here:

1) In BIOS I set PCI-EX16_3 Bandwidth to X4, and SATA Mode Configuration to M.2
2) I run win7 install from a retail Upgrade DVD
3) When the installer asks for a drive there are none listed
4) To see USB (3.0,3.1 and 2.0 are not recognized by the installer) I choose Load Driver and load the USB3 driver from the Asus driver CDROM.
5) After this my USB is visible and I install a downloaded NVME driver
6) After this my M.2 SSD is visible so I prepare a partition and continue install
7) Install finishes, windows 7 boots from the M.2 SSD
8) I install system drivers from the ASUS driver CDROM
9) I install drivers for my GPU from CDROM
10) I start updating through Windows Update

During this process I get several errors and some strange behaviour. Amongst which (I can't recall all):

-) Loading USB drivers in setup failed the first time, crashing my mouse and keyboard that were connected to USB2.0 ports. Second time around I loaded an unsupported USB2.0 driver, didn't work either. Tried the supported USB 3.0 drivers and they magically worked and showed my USB stick.
-) When windows loaded, I had no (USB) mouse/keyboard control. Had to use PS/2 mouse and keyboard to get to the Asus Driver CDROM and install USB drivers. After that they wor... Read more

Answer:T410 can't find WiFI driver after clean W install

Hi,

You can probably figure out the exact card model by going to Device Manager and taking a look at the hardware IDs: Control Panel -> Device Manager -> select the wifi adapter -> Properties -> Details tab, Hardware IDs in the drop-down menu.

From your laptops details, I'd guess you have the ThinkPad bgn card:

i5-560M(3.20GHz) 2GB RAM 320GB 7200rpm HD 14.1in 1280x800 LCD Intel HD Graphics CDRW/DVDRW 802.11bgn wireless Modem 1Gb Ethernet UltraNav Secure Chip Camera 6c Li-Ion Win7 Pro 64

This ought to be the driver if my guess is right:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS000979

An easy way to go might be to install ThinkVantage System Update and run it.  It should find the drivers and software appropriate for your exact configuration: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS012808

Well for Christmas tomorrow I'll be getting the following:

New Motherboard
New CPU
New Video Card

I'm going to be doing a full re-install of Windows XP so I can start fresh and was wondering if when I try attaching the following pieces of hardware to the mobo, will they work just like that or will I need to install drivers etc for them:

You will need drivers for you sound card, Because xp will most likely not have the drivers, But for all of the other devices your good to go because xp will install drivers that will work with them.

Answer:Clean install - Which drivers should I update?

If Windows and/or Windows Update brought you drivers that are working, I would let them alone. If you don't think something is working as expected, look for updated drivers. Typically, on a laptop, if Windows Update brings down the drivers, I leave them alone. On a tower, especially one used for gaming, I always update the video drivers.

Hello-
I am really in a pickle. The short story is that I'm trying to do a clean install of Win 8.1 with a bootable USB and the first attempt, where I created partitions, failed. I'm trying again and it can't find a storage driver to even see the hard drive. I can see the install medium and the files stored there. Where do I look for a storage driver so I can see the hard drive again?

The long story-
Windows 8.1 drove me crazy. Every time it updated, it forced me to reinstall the OS. I went to Win 10, which worked great for a month or so, then an update crashed it and while trying to reinstall it, it reset to Win 8.1. I was so fed up I went to Ubuntu, which worked very well. Then I foolishly tried a workaround to run Skype on it and I messed up my system. I can't reload Ubuntu so I'm back to installing Win 8.1. See above notes for what happened from there.

Please help!

Hi. I was having trouble updating my hp stream 11 windows 10 laptop with 32gb memory to the anniversay update. So I decided to do a clean install using the reset the pc functioning deleting all my files. After the reset, it seems that Windows has automatically installed many drivers. Everything seems to be working and the anniversary update looks like it is installing fine. Seems like a lot of space was freed up. If everything is good, do I really need to look on the hp site forthe lastest version of the drivers (chipset etc)? Can i just go with what windows did automatically? I don't use any software that came with the laptop.

Answer:Question about clean install and drivers

The Intel Serial IO Driver without Connected Standby Support chipset driver from hp.com is usually required for the touchpad to work on the Stream notebooks after a fresh install.  You may also need to install the touchpad driver for the touchpad gestures to work.  You can also look in Device Manager to look for any devices that do not currently have a driver installed.

Completed clean install 8.1 on new SSD from 8.0.
Device manager shows no exclamation points/errors.
Went to manufacture website and attempted to download all drivers . After restarting got a code 19 error in device manager on my keyboard and touchpad. No sure what happened, but both did not work. The option to roll back both drivers were graded out. I then uninstalled both drivers and then restarted hoping it'll install the driver correctly, but did not work. So, I did a system restore and now I'm back to where I started. Which drivers do I stay away from? Looking at all dates listed on acer's website, I should be dling/updating all thats listed.

I have never been a fan of upgrades. Now I am noT having any issues with the upgrade I did but I still would like to do a clean install.

Since my motherboard it 2 yrs old the manufacture feels it's too old to give it Win 10 drivers. I can assume that there will be no way for me to do a clean install unless the motherboard manufacture puts out Win 10 drivers.

Hi

However my concerns relate to reinstalling drivers specific for the F60.... Any advice on this process would be appreciated. Any thoughts & guidance appreciated

Also would like to update bios...is there a step by step process for that too?

Answer:Qosmio F60 Win 7 clean install plus drivers

The BIOS is important on new models, so update the BIOS after you have installed the critical Drivers (listed below).

Install these first (in that order):

Intel Chipset
Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
nVidia Display Driver
Realtek Audio Driver
Toshiba Value Added Package

Then run the BIOS update (v2.10) in Windows, it will reboot.
Then install the other drivers.

Note: If the Recovery Partition is still intact, you should run Recovery to install the preloaded Windows 7 installation. This will already have everything installed. If you dont want Norton and other included apps, you can simply uninstall them.

Also, its a good idea to backup the C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSAPINS folder before reinstalling Windows. The TOSAPINS folder has all the Installation Files for all drivers and applications, which you may need later.

A buddy of mine brought his computer to me yesterday because it was blue screening. After backing up all of his personal files I formatted the drive and re-installed XP pro. I actually still had a copy of all the drivers the mobo needed from the last install I'd done for him (he loves his online poker!) so I loaded them on to my USB flash drive and tried installing from there.

The ethhernet gave me an error saying there was a file that couldn't be found (at work and don't have the exact error on hand sorry)
and then when I tried installing the audio it gets to 94% complete and then just stops. I copied all the files to the computer's desktop but still get the same results. I can't update the SP without internet and I can' t get internet with no drivers. Help?

Answer:Clean install now drivers won't load

Would it be possible to update the service pack by downloading it on another computer, burning it to CD and installing from that CD?

Can you give us some specifics about the computer: Manufacturer, model, what hardware?

These would help us help you.

I have an HP laptop, and it will not boot up.

Have tried safe mode, repair, everything. But no go.

So right now I am reinstalling W7 from the original CDs.

After I get that done, I have the drivers CD. So, my question is what is involved in doing that installation?

Answer:Clean install of Windows 7 and drivers

Hi Johnneeo. I have an HP driver DVD for my laptop and it is just a matter of popping it into the optical drive and running setup. I usually like to choose the drivers and install them one by one from the DVD. You can run the driver installation automatically, but then you may also get something like MacAfee AV installed as well.

For last week I have been trying to do multiple install of XP Pro to no avail. The Steps I followed, 1. Cleaned the full 250GB HD using GParted. 2. Installed XP Pro SP1, than SP2 and SP3 3. Tried using the Serial Number to download the drivers for Lenovo site. I have tried installing all drivers including Ethernet, Wireless, Video, Audio, Power Management, ... The only driver I had success installing is Realtek Audio drivers. All others drivers have failed. Ethernet and Wireless seem to show installed but the yellow icon in Device Management still shows missing. Tried to upgrade the drivers from Device Management for Ethernet and Wireless by pointing them to Drivers directory, but it failed. Can someone direct me correct XP installation steps XP SP1 -> SP2 -> SP3 -> Ethernet Driver -> Wireless Driver ? I have tried multiple downloads with just G575 downloads than with downloads using Serial Number to no avail. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Sam

Answer:G575 AMD - Clean XP Install and Drivers

hi sam.after installing xp, i suggest you to install drivers first. then skip installing sp1. install sp2. check if your computer working properly. then you can install sp3 if you like.you can downlaod drivers from the link below:http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/uk/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=481951ps: if you partitioned all of your hdd, i suggest you to use windows partition during the windows installation.ps2: also note that when you run the executable files, it usually extracts the driver c:\. you need to run setup.exe again.

Okay,,,
I managed a clean install yesterday on my wife's "Dell Inspiron E1405"
OS "Windows Xp media Center Edition 2005"
Service tag # 3MBL7C1

The issue I am having is with driver install from the dell's website.
I have already downloaded the correct chipset drivers (I believe :\)
and the notebook software driver) I have also downloaded a modem driver
for it, it gave a local area connection incon in my desktop toolbar, however, before
the clean install, I had a wireless card and was connected through that.

My pressing concerns now are
Which driver downloads do I need exactly,
and can someone help me with getting my wireless driver (correct one) back.
I am restoring this for my wife, who was more than happy (thanks to you folks)
that I was able to get this thing from the blue screen of death.
I'm almost there, please someone help me with the final steps.
-Chris..

feel free to pm me, since I will be on all day today,
thanks.
side note ( when in hardware manager, I cannot tell which driver I require for the wireless card because there is no device listed,
however I was connected through it before the clean install.

? network controler

under system devices - Direct memory access controller
numeric data -processor
programmable interrupt controller
and four system board

I believe that seems to be all, but again this is my first time doing this...
any help would be greatly appreciated...

I have a customer's Satellite L305D S5895 laptop. This was shipped to me by the customer who tried to install Windows XP Pro, Vista and none would install.
He said he tried all installation CDs he had and finally gave up on it and shipped it to me.

When I got it the partition were deleted so I tried to install Win 7 and when I do doing a custom install I get an error saying the hard drive can't be formatted on disk 0 or it will give an error that no hard drives were found.

I reset the bios to default and no matter what I do it won't format or find the harddrive. I was going to upgrade the bios but the only way I found to upgrade the bios is after windows is installed.

Anyone got any ideas on this laptop so I can get a system installed. I checked the bios and there is no settings for a sata drive, raid drive or IDE drive so it looks like this version can't be changed.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

Rick

Answer:Satellite L305D S5895: Win 7 can't find HDD or can't format HDD on clean install

Hi

First of all this is an US notebook series.
[Satellite L305D-S5895|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2144776& rpn=PSLC0U&modelFilter=L305D-S5895&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663]

The notebook supports an AMD CPU and ATI chipset.
This means that the SATA drivers is a parts of the ATI graphic card driver.

You have to include the SATA driver firstly in order to install the Windows OS.
You could add the SATA driver to the Windows disk using software like nLite / vLite

Hi Guys,
I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro last year from Windows 7 Pro all was good for a while. A few weeks ago I began to experience some stability issues, so I decided to do a clean install.
I backed up my personal files, word docs, spreadsheets etc onto an external hard drive and completed the clean install. I then re-installed Office 2007 then copied and pasted my saved docs from the external drive into the documents folder.
All the folders and files appear to be there but when I try to open a file I get a message saying that Windows cannot find the file. If I search for the file it shows me that it is in the Documents folder but when I go there it still says that Windows cannot find the file.
I can open them from my external hard drive as thankfully I hadn't deleted them from it but cannot access them from the desktop. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this?
Also I noticed that the name on my user folder has lost the last letter it used to be Martyn but now Windows 10 thinks I am Marty. Why on earth would it do that?
Thanks in Advance
llewitha

Answer:Windows 10 cannot find office 2007 docs after clean install

Hello llewitha,

I hope the clean install will solve your stability problems - it usually does and is well worth doing! I'm sorry you now seem to have a few problems. The issue with your user folder is easily explained, Microsoft takes the first five characters of your username (email address when you sign in with a Microsoft Account) and uses this as your user name for the folder. Annoying but that's the way it is and it is really quite a pain to change the folder name so my advice is leave it alone.

The files are another matter though and this should not have happened. Are you able to right click on any of the files in your documents folder and check their properties? You should have full control of them when you examine the security tab.

Hello,

I decided to reinstall Windows XP SP2 again, since the notebook was full with lots of trash and was working slow. I did it before and it always worked fine, but this time it doesn't recognize my soundcard, graphic card, network card, etc. you could say all the hardware.

I used my tools and utilities CD after the Windows installation and installed first of all the chipset driver, restarted my notebook, than I tried to install my soundcard, graphic card, network card but nothing happen. It still doesn't recognize anything. I really have no clue what's wrong, worked always fine before.

Thanks for your help

Answer:Qosmio F10 - can not install drivers for some hardware components

Be sure that you use right drivers!!!
On the Toshiba driver page you will find drivers for the Windows MCE and for the Windows XP.
Use the XP drivers!!!
Additional one important info:
The drivers must be installed in the right order! I found on the Toshiba drivers page an ?installation instruction?. Please follow these guide lines! It?s necessary for a properly installation.

Good luck dude

Hi Can anyone help, does anyone know the install order of the drivers for the above vaio, got somethings that just don't work like 'magicgate' and 'inbuilt webcam'Many thanks in advance

Answer:Vaio VGN-TZ3RXN Clean Install Drivers

Apart from installing the chipset drivers, which need installing first, it doesn't make any difference what order you install the other drivers."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..."
