I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ctsrda.com shows up with nearly every screen and leads nowhere, nor does it contain any text. At the same time sliding "popups" appear at the lower left screen. A second slider comes out from the left of the first, effectively blocking whatever I am viewing.

Answer:The url ctsrda.com shows up with nearly every click and has no text. Also popups

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Please run the following scans and post the logs produced.

SCAN 1
Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on the Download Now button and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.

NOTE: If for any reason the report does not appear, open Windows Explorer and click on the C: drive in the left pane, in the right pane you should find a new folder called Adwcleaner, double click on it and you will see the saved logs. Find the log that has a number in brackets starting with an S NOT R, similar to this: Adwcleaner[S1], double click on the one with the highest number and the log will open, Copy & Paste it into your reply.

Hi, I'm usually able to take care of this kinda stuff on my own, but I've been having trouble finding out exactly what trojan/virus or whatever is causing this. I use spybot search and destroy as well as super anti spyware.

The other day I was downloading a flashgrabber tool to be able to grab some youtube videos my friend posted. I believe it was infected somehow and that started this whole fiasco. At first, superanti spyware was able to find it, and I deleted it. I was running pretty well with no problems. Then today I went to install a new program and I somehow I got reinfected with something, only now neither of my spyware detectors are picking up anything. They are both up to date.

I've done some scans and something found a iamfamous.vir or some such in firefox's directory. I cleaned that up. I'm not quite sure what the root cause of all this is. But there is a file in my temp folder called: Perflib_Perfdata_5bc.dat. Upon some googling, it looks to me like it is some kind of malware. I think that it is an after effect though. I am unable to delete this file, it says it is currently being used by another program.

Also, another file that was strange was something called Wise Installation Wizard. That has since been removed though. I'm guessing that that was put in there latently so that when I used an install shield that it reinfected me, that's just a guess though.

Please advise me on how I can fix this and find out what is... Read more

First time on Windows 8 & I am completely lost. I have not touched it to do a thing about the tons of popups and underlined words that make me feel as thought there's adware or worse on the system. I figured it best to start here. Just clicking in this field to type brought up about 3 popups. Please help.

Hello. Using vb.net, I've been trying to figure out how to paste the clipboard into the window your mouse pointer is pointed.

If anyone has used unix you are familiar with what i am asking for; just to double right click or middle click and to paste the content of clipboard to the given window.

Can anyone offer any ideas for .net?

I would use double right click, or middle click, or single right click.

Please respond with your ideas~

Thanks

click.to lets you send text, images, videos, and other documents which are selected to other applications with a single click. The program can even handle the selection automatically. I am using it and looks useful so far. Click.to | One click to your favourite app

I just enabled these, and my fonts in a few places have changed.

I know it's rather minor, but the main issue of change has been in IRC-ish HTML chats, the font changed from basic arial to something I can't quite discern.

Descriptively, the pt size seems to be reduced about 80% (12 point is unnaturally small), _ is approximately half the width and > and < reaches to the maximums of a capital letter. " are diagonal slashes instead of vertical (and a bit elongated at that), the distance between the dots in the semi/colon are minor at best.

What brought this on was simply the addition of support for East Asian and Right to Left languages, and applies globally to all browsers.

Any way to fix this?

As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. Every once and a while I get a windows error message saying "this file could not be downloaded," coupled usually with an IE popup. Additionally, sometimes it seems an infected executable is actively keeping Firefox from starting, and I get a fatal error that keeps the program from running, though sometimes using the control panel to manually end suspicious looking processes seems to alleviate this. Have run Adaware, Spybot, Kapersky, and Symantic all multiple times in varying combinations, which solves most of the problems for a little while, but they all eventually come back. Hello and welcome aboard Yup, looks like a few infections. I'll do my best.Firstly, you seem to have Kaspersky and Norton both active. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.Click the Scan for Vundo button.Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo. When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt in your next reply.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.======2. it appears as though i picked up a virus by merely visiting a website. i use firefox, i never get pops-ups and now everytime i open firefox i get pop-ups, and when i accidently clicked on one, 48 internet explorer windows popped up. it was so fast i had to wait until it finished. on top of that, this virus has slowed down my computer, and i cant access all of the websites i used to, including gmail.

i used spybot but have mostly been using adware constantly. ad-aware has found various things but still hasnt been able to find whatever this virus is. i just ran a full adaware this morning, it found some malicious objects, removed them, asked me to restart, i did, but then once i clicked on firefox, popups galore, everything slow to run, and cant pull up all the websites i normally do. so ad-aware is not working on this issue

any thoughts, help would be appreciated. frustrated and as you can probably tell not particularly computer saavy.
thanks.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

------------------------------------------------------

Please download ComboFix and Save it to your Desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

First, we need to install the Windows Recovery Console.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery(repair) mode, if needed. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. Also, ComboFix will not address certain types of malware unless the RC is installed. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Hello.
I would firstly wanna say that English isn't my first language so I hope the guy who's gonna help doesn't mind my horrible English.

I got this virus just today as I believe to have downloaded a .exe and running it without doing a search of information of the .exe file. If I remembered correctly, the file's name is firefox-update.exe. It prompted me to download all of a sudden when I tried to visit a link. The link was loaded like a "firefox" page saying that my firefox browser is outdated. So I foolishly downloaded and tried to install. A moment later, Windows defender started to detect a trojan of some sort and my laptop start to have these random ad music playing, random ad from IE (even though it's not open) and google searches redirected to bing.com.

I think one of the random music playing thing was caused by Sds.exe.

Lastly, I do not have access to a Windows install CD or a boot CD

Thanks in advance to who is helping me. :)

Then began recieving search redirects, random iexplorer popups and random soundfiles playing in background. Computer is running much slower. Tried other sites recommendations of running TDSSKiller, which I could not get to work even in Safe Mode. That being said, here are the logs which you require be posted:

Hello. I am at wits end trying to battle random popups on this pc. I have run numerous scans with kapersky and mcafee, although things continue to be found the popups remain. I have manually gone thru my startup under system configuration utility and removed a lot of malware processes such as:
favogupo
tareniva
nwiz
kajopezi
dodohovo
mekabage and more

Google searches of these have led me here. Despite how many of these I disable, they continue to regenerate under different names. Any help would be much appreciated.

This just started happening to me. I've searched this site and didn't really find any answers to the people that have had similar problems.

Recently my computer makes clicking noises out of the speakers like I've clicked on a link or a button or something. Sometimes it does it a few times in a row quickly.

Other times it'll make weird noises even when I'm not doing anything.

Also I'll have random things like "Congratulations you've been selected to win a free Ipod"

Answer:Click & random noises, also random commericals

Hi Jeffros Spec V and welcome to TSF !

This looks like some malware activity. Follow the HJT - 5 steps against malware link in my sig, go through the whole 5 steps process and read the instructions carefully. Post your final logs in a new thread in the HijackThis section where our security techs will review them. Be patient as they are very busy and it can take several days but once you'll get an answer you'll have quick feedback.

Answer:Random IE Popups, Getting a TON of popups all the time

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

Hi all,I replaced my power supply to upgrade from 250w to 480w.  I carefully unplugged the old and re-plugged the new (after unplugging power source) and when I confidently turned everything back on the hard drive seems not to work.  there's a faint beep but I'm not sure if it's the POST beep or not.  (I have a vague understanding of that)Instead, the hard drive clicks quite clearly and it clicks 4x then pauses, then 4x, pause, etc, etc. I tried re-plugging the old power supply back in and get the same result.   The computer screen just stays blank the whole time.Did my hard drive just die at that point?   Could switching ps cause the hd to die?a few facts:I do touch the computer case before I stick my hands in there to remove static charge.HD is western digital caviar 40g  WD400Computer is 3ghz P4 running xp with sp3replacement power supply says it's for a P4 and it fits perfectly where the old one came out, same connections etc.I have a 160g drive on it's way from Ebay that I intended to replace this drive with anyway and I have the 40g drive backed up on an external so it's not a disaster but it sure is an inconvenience.I'm ready to try hitting it on the side (percussive maintenance) but thought I'd try a post first. :-)Thanks,John

So I disabled AdBlock the other day and noticed links with popup ads like in the image below. I'm seeing them on this site also. Is that a virus? Any way to determine what is causing them?

Answer:Popups ads from links in text

Not a virus, just ads. It's frequent now on some sites, plain text becomes a link with a pop-up ad. Disable javascript for this site and you'll see them disappearing if they annoy you. Or reeanable adblock. Noscript works for that too.

Edit : if they are showing up on this site too then you may have a problem, not a virus but probably malware. Check your extensions/plugins, this is probably the cause. Not sure what browser you are using so I can't be specific.

In IE it's gear button > Manage Add-Ons.
In Toolbars and Extensions, check if anything not from Microsoft, or anything not installed by you is there and disable it.
Use the show scrollbox (on the right) to display everything installed (show all / currently loaded / run without permissions, etc..)

If the problem persists you could scan with Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

I have ran Hitman Pro and Malware bytes and have yet to find the root of this problem. first of all no matter if I am in firefox, or IE, I get a pop up from a site called "bizcaoching" secondly on my google homepage and email inbox there are little third party links, usually involving those stupid dating sites. when I am browsing other pages I get those little pop up chat box requests in the lower right hand corner. lastly, and this is the strangest to me, I now have to quadruple click to close my browser, type in a text field, click a link etc. sometimes its more then 4-click (I have seen it all the way to 8-click) any help would be appreciated!

Hello,

While doing research for papers... I like to copy text as reference (not plagiarize), copy and paste it into a word doc etc,... (only text, not pictures in this case)

However... certain websites do not allow you to even right click and drag on the text.

How can i overcome this, without having to hand-type the information i need?

Thanks for any tips.

I can't click on any textbox from chrome, such as the addressbar,
the ctrl+f window, the name box at the top of a bookmark editing window,
login prompts for ftp servers etc. Boxes inside webpages do work.

I've tried reinstalling Chrome, no effect. Doesn't occur in firefox (which I installed to check whether it was just chrome).

Recently there's been an annoying little animation pop up whenever I click something. I can't really explain it, but it's similar to the blinking | you see when typing in text fields. Everything I click on something it shows up. It's really annoying. It even happens when I click a picture, except it appears as a HUGE blinking bar. Can someone help?

When I try to highlight a anything it disappears as I drag the cursor over it, same thing if I double click on a word, click on a link in my favorites file it disappears and turns white. This is happening in IE and Firefox. I have a Dell 1710 Vostro with Windows 7. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Answer:Highlight or click on text and it disappears!

My guess is that its the graphics card or drivers. Check drivers in Device Manager, for yellow warning markers. Go to the website and get most up to date drivers.

I have a THINKPAD x60S running Windows XP. All of a sudden I am unable to right click on text and get the menu for copying/pasting in OWA. I also can't drag text around. However, I can do it in the preview panel! When I right click I get the extended menu, not the copy/paste menu. I can use Ctrl Keys to cut and copy but again can't do it with the right click.

I have been seaching sites for possible solutions. The only thing I found was that it might be a virus. So i did a full scan with Norton and found nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas? It's a total pain...

Hi,

My problem is that whenever I click anywhere - not just a link - on Chrome or Firefox a popup ad appears either in a new tab, or new window, or sometimes even both. The sides and bottom of the webpage are also plastered with ads too. Conventional malware removers fail at solving the issue. Below I have pasted the results from my DDS log and have also included the attach.txt in the attachment module. Thank you advance for your help. I have used this forum before, and really appreciate what you guys do.

I think this is related to tiles disappearing on the start menu. It feels like a graphic bug.
But I'm not sure.

Answer:Text in right click menus on taskbar missing

Hi, you may find the following of interest, if not of immediate help, but it may suggest something..
As it turns out, the data for the Jump List items isn’t in the registry at all, but in the user’s AppData. Specifically, in a collection of files in %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations. There’s one file per application; I had a somewhat magical 42 files in mine. I noted that there is also a similar folder called %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations, with fewer files in it, and which I suspect contains a cache of Jump List items that have been added programmatically by each application (such as the ‘Play All Music’ command on Media Player’s Jump List.
The files in these folders don’t have particularly useful names, but if you open them in Notepad the contents will give you a clue as to what program each one belongs to (note: don’t edit the files directly). When I compared the folder on different machines it was clear the names are the same for each application.
The file for Explorer.exe was actually the first in the list for me, and is called 1b4dd67f29cb1962.automaticDestinations-ms. The solution was simple; delete the file. As soon as I had removed it, I was able to re-pin folders, the removed file was recreated, and my life was once again sane.

Since "upgrading" to Windows 10 I have needed to restart my computer every other day to fix weird interface glitches. There are a bunch, and I will make separate threads for them because I don't know if they happen for the same reason.

This thread is about the right click menu missing all the text on it. I have attached an image. The different menus are still clickable, I just can't see what I'm clicking! I have tried restarting just Explorer.exe, but that doesn't help. I need to reboot the whole system to fix this.

i upped to firefox 1.06 this morning, and i'm noticing something peculiar.

typically, i middle click on links to open them in other tabs, but since the upgrade this won't work if the text is bold. if it is not bold, then middle clicking works normally.

edit, well the third re-start seemed to clear that up. don't know why it didn't work the first two times i killed firefox.

I still have the same problem, so let us continue the thread web pages where you can't right click (copy) the text? !

The funny thing is, copying text from that web page worked for some months before, using either one of the two codes I found previously in the first part of the thread, but they don't work anymore. I have Firefox and Chrome, on XP. I even tried Opera, as one said previously that it bypasses all copy text protection, but it did not work for me, either.

Can you also give me an example of such a page which gives you text you can't copy? Because the one I am trying requires registration, and I don't want ti bother you with that.

Answer:Continuing: web pages where you can't right click (copy) the text?

that post is from 2005
and you only have 1 post above - so have you logged on as a different member ?

sites try to put a lot of protection in for images - right click etc - but as stated in the other post - lots of ways to get around that

Hello. I have been battling green text and popups on google whenever I search for something. I've been on other forums trying to figure out what the heck is causing this. It's difficult to explain so I'll just try and give an example. On Yahoo's homepage they have a list of links (Autos, Finance, People Search, etc) and over the past few days some of these links have turned green and when I click on them they do not take me to a Yahoo page but some sort of "Sponsored Link." This green text/links began on only a few websites but now is popping up everywhere and keeps "spreading." I don't know what's causing this or how to get rid of it. Someone suggested it was Intellitxt or Ezula but none of the properties of these two programs match what's happening on my computer. We have a second computer which is completely normal. If someone could lend me a hand I would really appreciate it. I ran McAffee virus, Spybot, and Ad-aware but they haven't really come up with anything (other than the fact that I have much more spyware than I usually do and whenever I delete it, it comes back within the day). I also ran Hijack This and pasted the log into an online Analyze but it also showed nothing that was "nasty" or really troublesome. I hope I can resolve this soon.ThanksMy Hijack This Log:Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 2:18:58 PM, on 1/27/2006Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Runn... Hello again!

I am trying to assist my niece with her laptop. She has gotten infected and I'm sure it is from her online habits that I have tried to break her from. With that being said, I notice that she has alot of popups as well as her browser text is very large. I have attempted to decrease the zoom size as well as the text size but this has not helped. You guys and gals are so helpful here I told my niece that I would get some true help!

I have ran SUPERAntiSpyware, Combofix and HJT. Logs are following!

Answer:Solved: Popups and Browser text LARGE

I keep getting the very annoying underlined green texts with linked ads in any article I'm reading. I already went through the internet settings and supposedly removed all extensions that might be giving an issue. I downloaded AdwCleaner and ran the scan. I will copy and paste the results here. I am afraid of removing something that I may actually need. So I need some advice on that front.

Good day,

I know that there are several threads like this one, but, I've read somewhere that majorgeeks solves each problem by looking at personal info(I've ran the whole Read&Run this section, logs are in attachment).

So here's the deal: At the 7th of July around midnight, my laptop(Lenovo 3000 N200) began to fail. The first problem that occured was the automatically resetting of the wave slider in the adjust volume control panel. Later on I started receiving several pop-ups from Internet Explorer(including 3D Poker, online dating services, etc). At this time there also appeared random clicking sounds and I also heard sounds that were like those game-adds(you know, the play free online mmorpg banners where you can turn the sound off), but without seeing those game adds. I've downloaded Security Task Manager, because I read that if iexplore.exe appears more than once in your list of processes, you're having malware. I tried isolating the iexplore.exe(which appeared several times under the title DDE Server Window, Sysfader, MCI Command Handling Window, but also nameless and something like www yadaying com or something like that). I was able to quarantaine it but it keeps re-appearing.

It's really driving me nuts because I'm unable to game(popups minimalize the game), watch movies or listen to music.
I've browsed through the net without finding any useful information regarding my issue, I'm glad that I bursted yesterda... Read more

Answer:Wave slider down/random IE popups/random clicking sounds and game-add sounds

I need to ask some questions:
Do you have any drives that has a non-windows installation on them
Are all drives NTFS formatted
Do you have any non-standard or special MBRs which can occur from companies like Dell or HP who frequently install additional partitions used for recovery partitions in lieu of giving CD/DVDs.
Is any program like Grub ( see:http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ ) being used
Is drive-encryption being used?
Are any drives external USB pen drives or external hard drives being used?
VERY IMPORTANT: Do you have all important data backed up? You really should do this before continuing since we will need to rewrite your MBR to fix this and while most times this can be done without any problem, these infections can react badly and that could result in a PC not being bootable. You really don't have much choice though since these infections are too dangerous to your security to leave on a PC.

I am running a 9 month old Samsung laptop (64 bit os) with Windows 7 Service pack 1 and IE 8. A number of months ago my websites started re-directing to click get answers fast. In the last 6 weeks, even though I have pop-ups blocked I keep getting flash ad popups in the lower right section of my browser.

After searching online, I tried unsuccessfully to solve this earler in the year with TDSS killer. Today I downloaded and ran stinger and Malawareytes. None show anything wrong.

I'm running AVG free antivirus.

Can someone please help me to get rid of this malaware? I'm at my wits end.
Thanks so much,
Allison

My problem is very similar to this problem: http://malwaretips.com/threads/srv123-pop-ups-on-steam.27833/

I have popups whenever i click, that redirect me to sites with ads, or false stuff. Just like this other poster said. I hace run out of options and i come here to seek help. I thank a lot in advance. The popups have partially stopped in chrome and explorer, but just today. They are VERY VERY annoying.

I restablished chrome, uninstalled, ccleaner and then reinstalled.

Have scanned with
-Malwarebytes antimalwate
-AdwCleaner
-EsetScanner Online
-Otlx
-Combofix
-Superantispyware
I thank you a lot in advance

About a week ago I somehow downloaded a real bad bug - malware? virus? Who knows; but unfortunately I've been having a very hard time removing it. All I can remember about when the problem started was that a Java logo appeared in the middle of my screen, which promptly disappeared. Now, when I do a google search and click on a link to a search result, I am redirected to a variety of nonsense pages (I'm using firefox as my browser). Such pages include (for example):

Is it IE issue? Any workaround to resolve the  same?

Ive been using my laptop normally and consistently for the past week as I work on school papers. I was doing some research in the library and using the mouspad as normal, but when I got home and began using it the mouspad stopped clicking. It still works in that I can move the mouse and tap-click, but the tactile left click wont work at all. I need to use the tactile click to be able to highlight text for my papers. I tried turning it off and on again, as well as looking for a control panel menu that would solve this but have had no luck. I havent entered any command to make this happen so I'm at a loss on how to reverse it. Please help!

In almost any file that contains text such as notepad, or any windows 'box' where typing is allowed, when you select some or all of the text displayed by highlighting it, the right click menu offered for the selected text contains things like 'Open IME' or 'Right to left Reading Order' and a few others including cut, copy, paste, and delete.
Is it possible to add any custom actions to the these and if so where would I do it?
If I wanted to use the selected text in an application, is there a way to use the selection as a variable passed to the application by adding an option for that function to this menu?

Answer:Which registry key controls the right click options for selected text

Hello, there are only general programs for adding items to the context menu, not specific to that context as far as I've seen. Some only add preset functions, others like those below allow you to add anything.

Tthe more comprehensive context menu editors tend not to be free.
This one is:
Right Click Context Menu Adder: Freeware to Add Useful Shortcuts in Windows 7 and Later Desktop Context Menu - AskVG
(See under 'Functions')

More:
http://www.1-abc.net/0023/index.htm
Right click configurator

Context Menu Manager by Fahmy - rather a cluttered GUI but potentially pretty much ever option

As to whether the program you add to the context menu would process the clipboard (selected/copied text) that would be a function of that added program.

Answer:Right-click Start menu and it's white text on black

Hi, Aero disappeared after Windows 7.

However, Aeroglass (just search) offers a degree of transparency in title bars (best with a nominal fee of a couple of euros). I've used it from Win 8 on. You can have it fully transparent if you wish - variable.

MS is moving (very slowly) to a new consistent model for its GUI with rt click menus. At the moment it's a complete mix.

Win 10 is much more limited in its customisability. But please see the Customisation section for examples of themes which have been created.

Windowblinds is also now available for Win 10.

This is the only transparency option:

Hi everyone,

My computer seems to have a host of different issues. Firstly, when viewing webpages, I sometimes get links that, when hovered over, make ads pop up by Text Enhance. I never downloaded any such thing.

Secondly, I sometimes randomly get popups on my computer when I go to a new webpage. The ads appear in the bottom-right corner of my screen, and tell me to either back up my PC immediately or they say "Warning! Your PC is about to crash. Click OK to fix now". If I click these ads, they take me to MyPCBackup.com. I uninstalled My PC Backup in the Control Panel and the problem persists.

Thirdly, (this happens more occasionally) sometimes when I click a link, I'm taken to a screen with a white background displaying an ad in the centre of the page. On the bottom right, the page gives me the option to "skip" the ad. If I click skip, I'm directed to the page that I was trying to get to.

Also, when I click links, I sometimes get a popup by "ad.yieldmanager".

Thank you very much for any help. I have pasted the dds.txt log below, and I have attached the attach.txt log to this post.

Answer:contenual popups and redirects of sites when i click on some thing

See if you can download the program below, then follow the instructions. If you get redirected away from the download link, use another PC and transfer the program with a flash drive.

Iam only on this site once or twice per day so you may not get a reply back from me until the following day.  I see you have already run adwcleaner. Lets start with this:

Look in your add/remove programs panel and uninstall;

Amazon Browser App
ArcadeTwist
Pro PC Cleaner
UpdateAdmin or DownloadAdmin

After all are uninstalled reboot your machine once then rescan with FRST and post a new log and we will go form there.

Why is it that I am emailing back and forth to a friend using "reply" eventually the text formatting goes nuts?
I get random fonts and sizes that it refuses to reformat before I send. I once thought it was just my computer reflecting back to me weird font changes but when I asked my friend she said that's how they actually showed up, a mixture of fonts.
Does this happen most or get triggered when you cut and paste from somewhere else and make Outlook Express go out of it's mind?

Hello,

This problem comes from my new Dell Inspiron 15 (5000 Series i5547-3750sLV ) that came with Windows 8.1 installed. When I right click programs that are pinned to the taskbar, images from the OS cover text in the window.

Notice the thumbtack image over the "unpin this program from taskbar" line. The same thing happens with the red x image next to "close window."

My system:

I have tried changing my screen resolution and theme via Windows. I also tried adjusting various settings (brightness, contrast, resolution) in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.

I also went to Windows 10 (which did not have this issue) then reverted back to 8.1 (for other reasons) through the downgrade feature. 8.1 still had the problem so I did a system reset which took several hours and did not solve the issue.

I am considering doing clean install with a flash drive. It would be great to avoid the trouble of finding and downloading all the necessary drivers.

Any ideas as to what is causing this issue and how I can fix it?

Answer:Rick click taskbar programs, OS images cover text.

Very common topic on here. Go down a page or two and you will find the link in the last post, how to fix this.

Upon returning home after two months away, found the home computer (Lenovo desktop; Win7; i7; purchased Feb 2013) infested with adware virus.  This condition was non-existent when I left home after Thanksgiving 2013.  After some digging, I purchased SpyHunter4 for USD40.  It scanned the computer and came up with a long list of spyware cookies, tracking cookies, adware, and other malware.  Of course, to "fix" the problem, I would have to purchase the rest of the software.  After resisting and searching for alternatives, I made the purchase. But, SpyHunter4 only removes the malware it finds during a scan.  There is something buried in the compute that causes the problems to start coming back.  To test this, I did a scan (which takes about 45 minutes) and immediately repeated the scan after performing the "fix" from the first scan.  A noticeably smaller number of malware was discovered.  When I did a scan again with the internet cable disconnected and "fixed" it, the repeat scan produced ZERO malware.  And, after a "fix" and continued surfing on the web, popups slowly start coming back in intensity...as time passes by.I have CCleaner and Malwarebytes programs.  I've used these for years and kept them up to date.  They find nothing when I run these. Now I want to get to the root of the problem and eliminate it.  There was no need for any SpyHunter4 type of software at all before I left home.  That is the position... Okay, I have had this computer a long time, it's always been an XP machine, though I upgraded to XP Pro recently, SP3 of course. Earlier this year, or maybe late last year, my fiance upgraded my whole computer for me, the only hardware that's the same is the hard drive, which is now a secondary hard drive, since they had to install a different hard drive to put the OS on. Don't ask me why, I don't get it, but it just wouldn't load on the old HD, probably because it already had an OS on it? Anyway, it's been fine this whole time, but yesterday my start menu started freaking out. I'd click Start, and the menu would pop up, then almost immediately disappear. If I'm quick enough, I can click on All Programs and then it will open the program list and stay open, which is nice. I figured I had a virus, so I tried opening my virus scanners to clean it up. They found a few things, but it didn't fix the start menu. I also noticed that any windows I have open will blink, like a program is trying to open in the foreground, but then doesn't. I looked online and tried checking my mouse, since some people in 2009 had said it was a glitchy mouse button, but that wasn't it. Then I tried booting in safe mode, running Avira Anti-Vir, and Spybot S&D. I found two more serious-sounding bugs and cleaned them up, but still no avail with the start menu and windows blinking. I did notice that these problems only occur in normal boot mode, not Safe Mode. ... Read more

Answer:Start Menu, right-click, text boxes closing/deselecting constantly

Also, I found out that when i shut my computer down (after a lot of effort trying to click it fast enough), I get an error that says Svchost.exe - DLL something or other, and says that the application failed to initialize since I'm shutting down. That's when I figured that I must have some corrupted file trying to open constantly, but crashing instead. Problem is, since it's a svchost.exe, I have no idea how to figure out what program is the one crashing or how to fix it. I saw someone else having a similar issue, but with more errors, and tried the steps to solving theirs, but it didn't help me (something to do with ipv6, which wasn't even installed on my computer). I'm still drawing blanks here.

i was thinking if there's a chrome/FF extension (or userscript) that allows the PC browser to emulate smartphone behavior. for instance, when we double tap on an area of text, it automatically zooms in to that area and wraps the text nicely around the window.

right now, i do it manually (using ctrl+scrollwheel, then adjusting the horizontal bar to make it fit). any recommendations for automation?

Answer:double click frame to zoom in to text (emulate smartphone behavior)?

I could not find anything that fits what you are looking for. You've probably looked and found existing extensions are fairly similar to what you do presently.

Out of interest I wrote some scripts with Macro Express and AutoIt. It only took a few minutes. They worked from a hot key (rather than double-click) and pasting into a new window at larger font or appearing in Notepad. I found that it was easier to select text with the mouse (followed by the hot key), so don't rule that out if you find such an extension.

I also made a version where it copied the text in the area so many pixels above and below the mouse. Worked OK but it could miss some text in the top and bottom lines where there was a mix of left-, centred- and right-aligned text. Unfortunately I don't know the programming for FF or Chrome so I can't help with the request. My basic apps did have the advantage that they worked for any document that has text that can be copied to the clipboard (and the text could be directly pasted anywhere else).

Answer:browser hijacker keeps opening popups when I click on legit site links

Update:
I seemed to have fixed the issue (for now at least). I did an uninstall on the suspect software "DNS Loader" using CCleaner - as no install/uninstall folder could be located via the normal means of clicking the start button or Windows key. I tried this several times before but the software kept reappearing. I ended up going in to my Chrome Browser settings, clicking on Show Advanced Settings at the bottom, and all the way at the bottom of the page, scroll down and click on the reset settings feature. This will sign you out of many things and reset a few things to default state, but so far so good, I click on legit site links that previously were popping up with ads every-time and now it's stopped. Hopefully this is a fix. Will update if not. Still open to other suggestions in case I missed anything of course.

When you right click on desktop or in windows explorer you have an option for NEW > Rich Text Document

Now when i create a file like that, it doesn't remember or maintain the default font size and paragraph spacing. It seems that WordPad doesn't maintain a default font size and paragraph space setting. So the work around for this was to ensure it opens with a default blank file which ive already saved with empty content but with preferred font, size etc. Then you go into windows start menu and choose the wordpad shortcut and point it to this default file instead of wordpad.exe. So when each time you click WordPad it will actually open the your blank document with your preferred font settings etc. But this doesn't work when you use the right click method to create a quick WordPad doc at a particular location. Because in the right click method it again fires up wordpad.exe only.

So is there a way to force or associate the right click item in the shell folder or something to open the dummy default document instead. That is when you select new Rich Text Doc, it should actually open mydefault.rtf which ive positioned at a stable location on my system (or whatever i called my dummy file) when i click on it.

I am using Powerpoint 2003 on my notebook running Win 7 64-bit.
The problem is, EVERY time I click in a text box or placeholder to place the cursor somewhere in the text, Powerpoint immediately highlights (selects) all the text in the box up to the point where I clicked. So if I just click and type without thinking, it wipes out half my text - I have to click twice to actually position the cursor. This happens regardless of whether I use the trackpad or plug in a mouse.

Also, figures and placeholders very often move by a few pixels when I click on them. So if I right-click an image that doesn't have focus, instead of getting the usual menu I get the shortened one with "Move Here" etc. as if I'd right-clicked it and dragged.

Very annoying!!!

I use the same version of Powerpoint on two desktop computers (both running XP) with none of these issues. So, does anybody know if this is a Win7 problem, a notebook problem, or a Powerpoint setting I can fix?

Answer:Solved: Powerpoint 2003 extremely annoying click = select text issue

Question: Random IE popups

Hi,

I'm pretty sure that I have some kind of malware on my computer. Sometimes (not always) when I search with google, about 5 minutes later, a new Internet Explorer window pops up, displaying some random address that may include the search terms I had used 5 minutes earlier. I don't know if the popup happens if IE is not open, but it does happen if I'm browsing any site with IE at that moment. Some examples of the pop-up addresses:

hxxp://babycribbedding.org/result.php?Keywords=screen+capture+tools&r=e42571dbcb69917bb6e7732334b189c8cf29e9b1c35babe67816630c62fc6278e16e4b91abcc8be073a0fcdcf8cfdf8d&Submit=Go

hxxp://directcpv.com/

hxxp://dotcomfreedom.com/search.php

System might also run a bit slower than usually, but I can't tell for sure. Also can't access Windows Update, no idea if it has something to do with the malware. It just says page cannot be displayed.

This has persisted for about a month now as I've tried to fix the problem myself. I've scanned the PC with over 10 different virus scanners (some in safe mode also), none of them were able to find much. How could it be that something as obvious as popup windows can be so hard to detect?

I even tried the ComboFix, but it seems to always stop at the point where it says "Could take about 10 minutes to finish, or double that amount if the computer is badly infested". I've waited for over 2 hours and it won't progress.

Question: Random IE Popups

Hello guys,

I've searched the internet because i'm having a problem with my computer. I've downloaded some torrents that I think that were infected and after that I started to have random Internet Explorer pages poping up all the time. I've already tried to run some anti-spyware programs but whenever I reboot the computer I have the windows pop'ing up again.

Could you please tell me what steps to take so I can have my computer free of these viruses?

Thank you very much.

What did you use to "take care of" your Spyaxe Spytrooper problem? Was it the uninstallers put out by Spyaxe?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

Special Note:
Microsoft AntiSpyware Program:
Because of recent changes in the way this program now defines and detects spyware/adware, it is no longer recommended as a spyware removal tool. Microsoft has downgraded several adware/spyware programs that it used to detect and remove and now lists them simply as ?Ignore?

These are some of the adware/spyware programs that this program will NOT prompt you to remove. Claria, 180Solutions, WhenU, New.net, most WhenU apps, eZula,TopText, Gain/Gator, and Webhancer. These are all known adware/spyware programs and hijackers. Basically this product can no longer be trusted. We recommend you uninstall it.

The other day I opened a website that completely contaminated my computer with trojans and accidentally installed antimalwaredoctor on my computer.

I was getting so many popups that I couldn't use the computer at all. I ran malwarebytes, avg, spybot, and adaware, and the computer seems to be almost back to normal, except I am still getting a random popup that comes out of nowhere. The popups are never the same. I've uninstalled antimalware doctor to the best of my knowledge.

I've run all my scans several times and cleaned out my startups via msconfig, and still can't get rid of the pesky little bugger.
update: Apr 27....Now I am getting constant alerts from my AVG Resident Shield that says resident shield C:\windows\system32\drivers\AvgLdx86.sys is infected. It's driving me nuts.
Here is my HJT scan:

Question: Random popups

Started getting the occasional popup in IE yesterday after linking to a reference article off of wikipedia. Somehow I was taken to an MP3 site or something like that, My daughter's mouse pad has an odd pattern that can cause occasional jerky mouse movements and it may have led me to hit a banner accidently. I'm not sure. Here is the link I followed:

http://www.cinescape.com/0/editoria...tion=page&type_id=&cat_id=270355&obj_id=41212

Ran adaware and found nothing. I ran Housecall from Trend and had javabytver and another, which it removed. I see I have robotihu.dll as a browser addon and this seems to be part of it. I had adsgt.com as a trusted site when I ran hijackthis and removed it thinking that would help. Now I'm sure I just don't have the knowledge to get rid of this. Any help would be appreciated! Here is my hijackthis log and my staruplist log. Thanks again and again!
