Preferred Solution: edit window stuck in corner and wont move

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here is a funny situation.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/2158/18001791.gif
I have no idea how it got there. But there is no place to drag it.
I tried changing the resolutions to no avail.

Anyone with a trick to move it around?

Answer:Solved: Window stuck in the corner of the screen without any option to move it?

I may be way off here ...

It looks to me that little window is a "sub window" of the Cubase 5 window and you are not showing the top of that window. If you scroll the Cubase 5 window up there is still no way to move the little window?

I am trying to move files from one external hard drive to another but it has been stuck on 'Preparing to move' 'Time remaining: Calculating. Items remaining: Calculating Speed: Calculating' for 20 minutes now. It has not moved on from that.

Google shows only results pertaining to Mac OS on this problem, when searching the message in quotes, it still doesn't give that exact match (come on Google, we search in quotes for a reason), instead what Google provided was results for 'Preparing to delete'

There seems to be no info let alone anybody having this message when moving files.

Can anybody help me get the ball rolling?

Answer:Windows 7 stuck 'preparing to move' when trying to move files

I have Windows 7 pro over here on three computers, and yes I too sometimes but not always get that long long long wait time for either copying or moving folders/files from source to target. For now, I recommend you only copy folders/files from source to target. And after you looked at the target, making sure the copies made it over safely, then delete from the source. I'm trying to recall what and where I saw some good answers, will post back if/when I find those URLs.

Just bought my system brand new from HP in November 2016. Running also brand new dual 4K displays (LG 27UD68-W) via Display Ports in 60Hz, using Intel HD 530 graphics with the latest drivers from HP. After the system recovers from sleep mode (and sometimes after hibernation), all open application/program windows shrink and move to the top left corner of the working display(s).  I have tried to research the issue on the internet.  While it iseems to be a known issue to the general Windows 7 and Microsoft communities, there doesn't seem to be a working solution available. This has gotten extremely annoying, especially since I can have numerous applications and windows running and having to restore their placement on the large (dual 27" screen) desktop display area is time consuming and aggrevating!!  Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Dimitri

I have tried pulling the battery and switching it on again. But it's still in app corner. Plz help me

Answer:I'm stuck on app corner

1) How long are you holding down the power button?
2) What about a soft reset?
If a soft reset doesn't work, you may have to do a hard reset however you should be able to plug in your phone into a PC and retrieve your personal files via file explorer. Please join and provide more information in this thread.

Question: Move Edit Pro Help

I need to save my Movie Edit Pro 17 video to my desktop in a *.wma format where it is as good as Windows Movie Maker in quality when I save it. In other words where I don't have a blurry video and I can write it to a DVD using my own program and not the one that comes with it because it is very confusing.

Thanks for any help.

This may sound confusing but let me try to explain what happened. I have 2 computers and an A/B switch. The personal computer (Windows Vista) is never on the internet. I was using the personal computer with a wireless mouse and keyboard. I wanted to backspace and the keyboard wouldn't work. I switched to my internet computer (Windows 7) and the keyboard wouldn't work there either. However, the mouse did work on both computers.I thought maybe the batteries were dead in the keyboard and replaced them. No effect. The lights on the wireless base were flashing and it wouldn't synch. I replaced the mouse and keyboard with a wired set with no effect. I think I then rebooted the machine and the mouse got stuck in the upper right hand corner. The cursor would move erratically when I tried to move the mouse but would always end up in the corner. I can't get the mouse to move so I can get to the computer settings or anything. I went back to the wireless as it is now synched but the cursor is in the same pattern. I rebooted the computer in safe mode with no improvement. This just happened in the middle of using my slide-to-digital copier which I've been using for hundreds of slides with no problems like this. Now both computers are messed up by either keyboard and mouse. Whatever happened affects both the internet and non-internet machines alike. Help!!

Answer:Cursor stuck in upper right corner

Update: When I connected the mouse and keyboard directly into the computer they worked OK. So I guess there must be something wrong with the A/B switch?

I'm having a problem where the mouse cursor jumps to the left and usually gets stuck in either the upper-left or lower-left corner of the screen (most often lower-left). This usually happens one to three times a day. Sometimes it happens soon after a reboot, but at other times I can use the computer normally for several hours or a full day without the problem showing up. The only way to get it working properly again is to reboot.

While the cursor is trapped in the corner, if I attempt to move it, it moves erratically to the right (but never up or down) and immediately jumps back to the left. While I'm attempting to move the cursor, context menus open, and if there's a file or shortcut near the corner to the right of the stuck cursor, it may get activated.

Sometimes, the cursor just jumps to the left but remains functional. I also occasionally get context menus spuriously appearing while moving the mouse as if I had right clicked something.

I've removed and replaced the drivers for the mouse and the display. In the case of the mouse, I also replaced i8042prt.sys and mouclass.sys with copies from another machine running the same version of XP. All drivers are the latest versions available. I also tried using the mouse as if it were a MS mouse with none of the Kensington drivers and software installed using only the basic mouse drivers supplied with XP. The mouse is connected via the PS/2 port. I ordered an adapter so I can try it on a USB port, but I have... Read more

Answer:Mouse cursor stuck on top left corner

Hi @saabrina, Welcome to HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help. I understand that the cursor is stuck on the top left corner. Did you use the touch pad or an external mouse? Was the screen a black screen? Or the laptop could start up normally, but when you used an application, the cursor could not move on the screen? Also, please provide the prodcut number of your laptop.HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? Looking forward to your reply!

Hello everyone. I'm new here and this will be my first post on here. I'm sorry if I have started this post in a wrong thread. I'm unsure of where it should go. Anyways, I'm not a tech expert so that's why I here. I will try my best to describe my problem tho.

First of all, I have been having this problem since last week. The problem is that it just auto shut down on me without any warning.

I thought it was because its overheating/the cpu reached it limits hence why it auto shut, but thats probably not the case.

And since that happened I just thought to myself that I should just reinstall windows. Haha. I thought that would solve my problem. But it didn't.

This crash problem occured when I opened game. I also realised that it happen as well when I browse the internet using firefox. Like after I opened it for a few minutes it then shut down.

However, if I'm not opening anything else and just at the desktop and only transferring files for hours, the crash never happen unlike after I rebooted, went to firefox, then googling stuff and then poof, it crashed. I also checked the cpu too, but its not overworking itself. Its just chilling.... Oh, and I checked it from task manager.

I already tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and went to surf the internet afterward. No crashes at all. I could watch youtube as well without having it crash on me. But when I reinstalled the driver back. It happened again.

So... I don't know really wha... Read more

Not sure what this is, but it won't go away. I've tried shutting down & re-start, ( still there ) i've checked in task manager to see if any application process was running ( nothing ) & then i did a Mc Afee scan that said 1 file infected & 1 file fixed. But the black window is still there. Only thing i've downloaded was free mmo game, that i've been playing for 3 days with no problems, but when starting the game Mc Afee window comes up saying "[game name] wants to make changes to you compter" so i click the allow once & game loads i start playing. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or bad timing, but i'm stuck & could use some help. Another strange thing, when i did a prt screen, the black window did not show up on the image so i used a phone to take the snap. Os is windows 7 64 bit.

Answer:Black window in corner of screen.

Ok, let's run one more malware scan just to be sure, but I think something was changed in the registry. Maybe a System Restore to a date before the game was insyalled will help. I f these don't help we'll ask in WIN7.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Since I renewed my subscription to Norton Antivirus on 1/20/2009, I have sometimes gotten a small box in the lower right hand corner of my screen saying "Norton Antivirus is currently performing background tasks." I have no clue what has caused that little box to popup. but there is an "x" in the upper right hand corner of the box and when I click on it, the box would disappear. That is until today! Now that box appears to be stuck in the lower right hand corner of my screen. Clicking on the "x" does not make it go away and I can't even move it to another location on my screen. It is not only annoying, but for some programs there are things that I need to be able to see and click on in that corner, but the Norton box keeps me from being able to do that.

I hope someone has an idea of how I can get rid of this...other than removing Norton all together and switching to McAfee!

Answer:Solved: Norton Antivirus - box stuck in corner of screen

Which version of Norton Antivirus do you have? If you have any other version of Norton Antivirus other then the 2009 version you are eligible to a free upgrade to the 2009 version. You caa download it here: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/kbload.jsp?docurl=step_lun_update&selected_nav=1&pvid=

Even if you do have the 2009 version it may have not installed correctly or removed the old version correctly. In that case go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all entries related to Norton Antivirus, Symantec, LiveUpdate and LiveReg. and reboot as needed. Then run the Symantec Removal Tool from here to cleanup the left overs: http://www.symantec.com/norton/supp...2&seg=hho&ct=us&lg=en&docurl=20080828154508EN

Then reinstall the downloaded version of Norton Antivirus 2009 from the link I gave above.

Chances are that it is a bundled application included with your new laptop that is causing this. Skype is a P2P app that allows VOIP phone calls, unless I'm mistaken.

I've been having problems periodically with ghost touches but only in the bottom right of my screen. Sometimes I can continue to use the touch screen and pad, other times it's just stuck. When I can move the cursor it flickers like it is trying to go back to the corner. There's the grey touch circle so it seems like it's registering a touch. Sorry if this is a repeat, I haven't found any solutions for my model.

Hi,

I'm running XP Home SP2, with a limited account which was originally an administrator account when the PC was first set up. At that time, I installed an external HDD. I have now changed the account to a Limited Account, and can no longer move / edit files on the external HDD. I just get a message saying "Access is Denied" whenever I try to do anything. Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening? Anything to try would be great! :)

Thanks,

Answer:[resolved] Limited account can't move / edit external HDD files

When you start your computer press f8 repeatedly untill a menu pops up, select safe mode, and logon as the Administrator. Go to start, control panel, user accounts, and change your user to an administrator. Or use the administrator account to move files if you want to keep your account limited.

I just recently got an X200 tablet and found a very strange bug with the wacom touch mechanism. If the laptop is booted up with the lid closed, the mouse pointer will jump to the top left corner of the screen any time I attempt to use the stylus after opening the lid (trackpoint still works fine). I have tested this multiple times both ways and confirmed that it was not just a coincidence. Just to see what would happen, I tried booting the computer with the lid closed, but with the screen facing outward (slate mode), and the problem does not occur at that time, interestingly enough. I am currently using the standard Windows update-issue driver, but the same issue is present if I install the driver from the product's support page (which I found to be buggy and annoying anyway). Any ideas? This is a great little computer, but this bug is a bit on the annoying side sometimes.

yea it say (SafeMode) in each corner on my PC

Answer:in each corner it says (SafeMode) it wont go

Depending on why you are in safe mode.If you were booting into safe mode due to a problem and it was your best choice, then you need to fix the problem first (system restore, etc,)If you made a setting change and you are not sure if it took, then investigate that. If you are sure of the change and you keep defaulting to Safe Mode, then launch msconfig and check off normal boot, apply, and then restart the machine. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I've set my window title bars and caption buttons to be smaller by using the built in advance appearance settings in windows. I like this much better than the default large buttons and bars. This produces an odd graphical bug. What appears like a hangnail is present on the top left corner of some windows. I have attached a screenshot of this. Also, taskbar icons look squashed and blurry. Anybody know how to fix this?

Answer:Weird artifact on window corner when using smaller title bars

Have you ran the calibrate display option? Might fix the issue.

Sometimes my mouse randomly moves to the upper left corner, and I can't get it off.

I usually restart my computer, but I think it's strange.

Whenever I go into taskmanager I can move it again, or whenever I go to the homescreen (Windows button).

I purchased a Flex 2-14 on Saturday (April 4th 2015). It was a display model in the shop, meaning that I was able to pick it up for about $380. Other than a few (semi-deep) scratches, it was otherwise fine until I set it up. First of all, the ESC key seems to be almost permanently stuck, which is strange, since there doesn't seem to be anything holding or sticking it down. This is the only key that appears to be stuck and one that I would usually use quite often.Secondly, a strange static/buzzing noise began to erupt from the system quite quickly (within one hour of use).In the lower left corner, there appears to be a light shining through, which is quite annoying in almost any screen (especially dark ones). Especially now that it has been noticed.Lastly, the battery decreases by 1% within 2 minutes while browsing, and otherwise once every 3 minutes if I have absolutely nothing running, causing the battery to last no longer than 2 - 3 hours on power saver mode. The system is currently running on power saver mode, with the backlight dimmed to it's lowest. I have turned off bluetooth and all unnecessary background programmes, yet it hasn't helped much. I suppose my main question is whether my warranty will be able to help this? I've read similar complaints about the system and I doubt that this is something that can be fixed, unless I blatantly get my money back. It definitely wouldn't have been worth full-price. The only pro that it has when compared to my old A... Read more

Also you can use 3rd party file explorers if you don't like it. xyplorer, directory opus, some free and open source ones.
you could technically hack into the visual of windows, it's nothing new. just do that and stop being drama about "oh it's killing me" it's a computer, it's not killing you or your dog.
You are a complainer anyway, just look at your other thread. like if you couldn't use (again) 3rd party start menu that may work the way you want.

Answer:Blinking dash in corner of screen computer wont boot.

Hello Nicole and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you've already done a reinstall of Windows 7 and the problem has returned, I think I'd start looking at hardware issues. Perhaps a hard drive, RAM, motherboard, etc that's failing. One of the Forum experts has prepared a couple of troubleshooting guides that might help isolate the problem. I might start with the Memtest86 and HD Diagnostics test outlined in Steps 8 and 9, first tutorial.

ringtone maker is good :) Not sure about the other ones, but for 3) you can get some form of a scientific calculator by rotating the phone to the left (not very intuitive perhaps). It is a bit basic, but if you need more, you might be interested in a 3rd party solution.
I also do like the ringtone maker myself :)

I have a large number of files which I am changing the naming convention for in the Title detail and am getting frustrated having to right click for properties and anvigate tabs ebfore being able to change each one. I can see the Title of the files in the Details view of the folder they are in, but there cannot find a way to edit them in that view other than the manner previosuly stated.

That being said, does anyone know of a workaround that would allow me to change each title without aving to jump through hoops to edit them?

Thanks in advance.

-Clockwork

Answer:Wish to edit detail properties of files in window

Welcome to the Forums Clockwork,

So if I get it correctly you want to rename multiple files at once?
If so, go to the folder they are located in, click anywhere in the folder, hit crtl and a at the same time to select all the files and then hit F2

After that you'll see that the name banner of the first file in the folder turned empty. You can now type the name you want it to have in, and hit enter. It will change all the files to that name, followed up by a number.
Hope that that helps!

What would cause the insert/edit hyperlink window to take nearly 60 seconds to populate within a hyperlink field within MS Access 2002 table? Was not simple trying to clarify my problem in a small title. My online classes begin in 5 days, I am desperate here! Here we go. 2 days ago I tried to import pics from my phone to laptop. I have had this laptop only for 3-4 months, and just mainly used it for school. Before halfway through the importing of pics process it rejects my phone, and will no longer recognize it (Samsung Galaxy S5 active btw). I did so much research, and tried so many usb settings tweeks, but nothing. It hates my phone for some reason.

Then at a point during all that, I reset my laptop and it just gets stuck with black screen and circle bubbles. Doing all the things you can think of on google, so many searches. It goes from that to getting stuck on welcome screen, then doing more work and searching, I get it to go to my desktop, but its only a black screen with mouse cursor. Before this point I couldn't even get it to boot through safe mode, it would get stuck. I can get safe mode now, but wont let me access any setting or options, no control panel. Not even start menu! I could only get into task and device managers. At that point I saw "!"s on my display adapters, video card, network card, and a couple of other visual type devices. Tried to uninstall, reinstall drivers, nothing. I've done so many things to resolve this, but ask if I've done it anyway, please. Before I left for work earlier, I just gave up. I started the reformat process from the reset pc setting. After it finished I p... Read more

im not sure exactly what to call them but when you have multiple windows open, im refering to the tabs on the bottom

im sorry if this makes no sense

Wasn't sure where to put this. It's not a Windows 7 Problem Per Se... So many truly brilliant regulars here though I thought I'd give it a (long?) shot.

I have a surveillance system which uses a remote viewing app that appears to be an active X component.

The app loads in the top left corner of the monitor (see screenshot) and is not resizeable or movable. The only manipulation it will allow is minimize to task bar. I do not like this

I have looked for registry entries and/or *.ini files that would govern screen position but have not found such. I've also looked for third party workarounds that would allow me to reposition or resize this window. I've not found anything.

The surveillance package is run from this card Product Detail The software is called Super DVR. Remote Viewing Software for the QSDT4PCRC-BNC and QSDT42DPCRC PCI Cards

TIA for any ideas.

Answer:Move an unmovable window?

Try this, hover your mouse over the taskbar icon until the preview pops up. Right click the preview and see if the Move option isn't grayed out. This will allow the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the window.

OR

Highlight (hover over) the taskbar icon. Press Alt+Space bar, then M. Now use the keyboard arrows to move. Press the Shift key when you close it might very well save that location.

I can't really explain it, cause my keyword lead me to Alt+Space+M.

It's different because the way it works just different.
In Ubuntu, You can Hold down ALT Button and drag a window whenever you want to go. (This kind of ability I want to talk about)

Why I am asking this? I encountered some installer like AutoCAD, even with full resolution of my laptop (1920x1080) The window still show 90% of it, which is bad because the important button are on the bottom like [Next] [Cancel] [Install] [Finish], etc. I tried to drag it to the top, but Windows 7 won't let me do that.
Also, the installation screen doesn't have ability to Maximize.

Answer:can't move window to top of screen

I am having the exact same issue with a Dell XPS 15. It is possible to see and access the desktop along the top edge of the screen, but it is impossible to move any window into that space. Interestingly though, maximizing a video with VLC allows it to fill the entire screen. I haven't been able to find a fix for this behavior yet. This is seen in both the i7 15" as well as an i5 15" XPS - so it seem pretty standard for these Dell machines.

So I upgraded a few days after launch from Win7 SP1 to Win10 on my desktop. It was going fine until just recently every time I boot up my computer it does not get past the login screen. Sometimes it lets me log in, sometimes the password box is disabled as well as the power button on the bottom left. Sometimes it boots up to just a black screen. No cursor. Nothing.
A few days ago it actually let me do more. It took me to advanced options and I tried to repair it. It told me Windows wasn't able to repair my PC so I tried to reset it. I went to work while it was resetting and when I got back it was stuck on 39% for a while and then a black screen again when I came back from dinner.
Afterwards I decided I was done with Win10 (I never even got to try my XB1 games on it T_T). So I tried the "Go back to the previous version" option, and it told me my desktop had no previous version. I even tried reinstalling Win7 from DVD but it wouldn't recognize my 2TB hard drive at all!
I have it on once more and it's on that black screen again.... I don't know what to do and many forums and help sites I've read have not been helpful.

I've re-installed XP SP2 too many times to count, finally had it up and thought it was running fine for the last week, then I went over to the Mac OS tried accessing windows through boot camp, it shut down the Mac OS, then when I tried to go back to boot Windows directly, I received the damning <windows root> \system32\hal.dll file is missing or corrupt - again.

This happens all the time with many products using Windows 7, eg when I'm typing an eamil. I move the mouse to one side and annoyingly the email disappears but the outline of the email window remains on my screen , now filled with my desktop background. Another movement of the mouse brings it back but how can I stop it disappearing in the first place? Thanks anyone for your help.

Answer:window becomes outline when i move mouse

You have to change the screen resolution. It seem, that you are using a vitual screen resolution, like 2048 x 1536.In that case, only a part gets displayed on screen and e.g. to see the systray, you have to move the mouse to the lower right corner. So change the resolution to fit your physical screen. The original poster should always write the last response !!!Let us know, if the problem is solved !!!

Hey guys, my son's PC (specs in profile) has a weird (unusual? glitch? cool feature?) thing it does when you're moving windows around on the desktop. Rather than try to explain what's happening, here's a short video showing it:

bandicam avi - YouTube

When you move a window, only the outline of the window moves with your cursor; after you 'drop' it, then the actual window comes over. Is there any way to have it so the window travels along with the cursor?

Thanks!

Answer:Weird animation during window move

Take a look here Visual Effects Settings - Change and ensure that the option Show window contents while dragging is checked.

Hi
is it possible to move a window slightly off screen ?
What i mean is......
if i move firefox,or any other window right or left or down it will go off screen no problem.
But if i move it up, to go off screen, it wont go off screen it just then goes full screen when it touches the top.
im using windows 8 .

Answer:Move a window slightly off screen

You could disable auto window arrangement. Press Winkey-q then type the word auto in the input line while Settings is highlighted.

Alternatively you could move the window to a location using a negative 'y' value with a scripting language. That way the mouse would not trigger the auto sizing.

For example using Autohotkey free scripting language you could easily set a hotkey, such as Winkey-y to move the active window(the one that has keyboard focus.. usually the last one you clicked with the mouse) so that the top of the window is 10 pixels above the top of the desktop. You might also want to program another hotkey to center it, just to make it easy to move again if you can't get at the caption bar with the mouse.

See Autohotkey help for WinGetPos and WinMove. There are forums where you may ask for help with your scripts. Newbie programmers drop in all the time. No reason not to take advantage of the resource.

Hi guys, im running windows 7 64bit, a few hours ago, god knows what but something happened which is causing anything that I maximize, and then minimize, try to move it, and it will auto maximize again.

I dont want to completely switch off the snap feature, I have tried the ease of access - untick the mouse option, restarted in hope that it will reset the windows that keeps maximizing, but this still happens.

If it helps, when I drag to try move a window, a red border comes around the entire screen, indicating it will be maximized.

Thank you for any help

Answer:Window keeps auto maximizing when I move it

Any time this has happened to me, it was because I had a 'flaky' mouse, which was 'auto-double-clicking' like crazy when I was dragging a window around the screen. Putting a 'good' mouse on the computer fixed the problem for me.

If you try a 'known-good' mouse and it doesn't fix the problem for you, then I would try uninstalling the mouse driver by doing the following (don't worry, we will get it back again):

1) Start up Device manager:
Start --> Control Panel --> All Control Panel Items --> Device Manager

2) Click on the small triangle beside 'Mice and other pointing devices', to expand it.

3) Click on your mouse to highlight it, then right-click on it and click on 'Uninstall'.

4) When the uninstall has completed, reboot your computer. Windows 7 will automatically... Read more

I'm making a quick chat in a batch file. For fun. I'm doing this by having one window that you type in, and another window that displays messages. It would be alot easier, if I could resize the windows, and move their position on the screen. So is this possible?

Answer:Resize and move batch window?

If you create a shortuct to launch the batch file you can make all those settings on the shortcut.

So I bought a laptop Fairly Recently, And there's a few games I play that Cant be re-sized. They Will Fit on the screen If I Use (Alt + Space + M) and move the window up so that the title bar is no longer visible, But as soon as I hit enter or click to drop the window (So It stops moving) Windows enjoys shoving its title bar Right back onto the screen Pushing the Bottom Portion of the Window below the screen.
Is there A tweak to the Windows 7 Registry That Might allow me to fix this? I just want to allow Title bars to go off screen.

Or Is There an Alternative Method.

Just To BE absolutely Clear This IS NOT Aero Snap (I like Aero Snap It makes Things Easier), Google Does Not seem to have an answer for me either, All I can Find is Information About Moving a window That has been lost off screen, Back onto the screen. I need the Opposite (I need to move a window Offscreen (Well to be specific half Off Screen)).

Pictures of what im trying to do:
(Changed To Links/Attachments)

Example Window Is the CMD Window
Moved The Window Offscreen Using (Alt+Space+M) And then the Arrow Keys to get it where I wanted it
Hit Enter and The Window moved itself back down even though I clearly moved it half off the screen

If I move application window from laptop main LCD to external monitor (slowly or using WinKey+arrow) than app window become just black rectangle just on 2nd screen. Moving app window back and forth few times will solve the problem. It don't happen all the time and not with all apps, some more than the others (very often with VisualStudio). On Windows 10 with 2 external monitor connected via miniDisplay port (same with HDMI output). Desktops are in extend mode.

Hi.

When I alt-tab between two windows, the previous window is greyed out but remains in the foreground.

This happens between windows of any program, whether it's Chrome, File Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Word...

The new window is the active window, but it remains covered by the previous window.

The only way to switch between windows is for me to minimize the first window. Occasionally, alt-tab functions correctly and the previous window is sent to the background, and the new window appears in front of it.

Is there a solution to this?

Answer:Alt-tab: window greyed out but does not move to background

I would try one of the free Alt Tab enhancement utilities. See if it does the same thing. Maybe you will get lucky and the 3rd party program won't have the bug. There should be many free ones on download sites like www.Softpedia.com www.Snapfiles.com SourceForge - Download, Develop and Publish Free Open Source Software and similar. Just make sure it supports Windows 8 or Ten so that it knows about the Start Screen.

Hello,

I have two displays setup, one is a TV (main display) and the other is a small monitor (extended display).

When I'm only using the small monitor as a display, how would I go about moving windows over from the main display to this extended one?

I am not talking about disabling the main display or changing those settings. I want the small monitor to still be the extended display. I simply want to move windows over via the task-bar or another method that doesn't involve clicking the window itself (which is on the main display, which is either off or displaying something else).

Answer:Move window to current screen?

For any dual or multi display set up most will opt for a 3rd party program like DisplayFusion or UltraMon. Each of the two programs feature a Smart bar or extension of the taskbar where when moving anything over for display from one to the other the icon on the taskbar goes along with it.

Another feature seen with the two is the move button which eliminates the need to click on and hold as you drag a window from one screen to the next. With a manual click to hold and drag the window being moved will maximise itself upon reaching the next screen. With a move button the window remains at the same size.

This is most annoying! It seems to be happening more often. I have not been able to figure out what is triggering this. I have 2 monitors and thought that moving between the 2 somehow triggered it or touching a boarder. When I have tried to recreate of course nothing happens. Has anyone experienced this?

I was able to get the windows back twice by immediately moving that window fast and bobbing it to the extents of both screens top to bottom and side to side.

Answer:Often when I move a window all other windows are minimize

Windows has a mode called Aero Shake that minimizes all Windows except the one you are using.

It happens if you move the mouse rapidly while holding on the current window.

Shake - Microsoft Windows

It can be disabled.

Hello, I am running win7 rc 64bit build 7100 in Dual monitor mode. I have a problem finding/moving an applications window that has gone out of the viewing area. I am new to Vista/Win 7 interface and not familiar with how to move a window with the arrow keys as I do with XP by right clicking on the running application in the taskbar and selecting Move. The application is Sony ebook reader. This happened when I had to remove one of the dual monitors for repair...upon returning it to the configuration, the ebook application starts, but the window is no where on either display. If I right click on the running application in the taskbar, there are no options to move. Other then removing the application, prefs and reinstalling...is there a way to bring that window back to the active areas? Thanks.

Answer:Move/Recover Offscreen Window

Windows 7 has a cool new feature that should help.  Click the icon in the taskbar to ensure that the program has focus. Then hold down the Windows key and press the right-arrow a few times. That should move the window across your screens and eventually bring it back onto the screen that is still active.Dave Bishop

When I am looking at a folder with lots of items in it, I prefer to view using list mode. the problem I am having is that when I click on an item on the very right side column it zooms the window over so that item is now on the left. so when I try to double click something on the right side I end up scrolling way over. how can I make the window not scroll over when I click an item on the right side under list viewing option.

Answer:how to make list not move the window?

Odd. i use list view and when i click a file on the far right the view jumps just one column to the left, not all the way like yours. I have the folders set up as follows :right click in the folder sort by TYPE and ASCENDING click on more and all i have checked is NAME TYPE and SIZE. Try setting up your folders this way and see if they behave more like mine do. Not sure if this will have any effect really but worth a try.

I've recently tried installing the latest preview for Windows 10 Mobile with the Lumia 635 (10149) through the preview program and at first, it started out just fine with no problems. But after a little while, problems started occurring (apps wouldn't update properly, showing an error code) and I thought I'd reset my phone, thus deleting everything from the phone. But it would then restart and show the spinning gears, turn off, show the spinning gears again repeat the whole thing over and over non-stop overnight. Is there any way I can fix this?

Answer:WINDOWS 10 PREVIEW HELP - stuck on spinning gears, how can I move from this?

Try this trick.
Power down the phone. Remove the battery.
Open Windows Phone Recovery Tool on your computer. How can I recover/reset/restore my phone software? - Microsoft - USA
Plug your 635 into the USB port. Hold the Volume Down Button and insert the battery. If you see an exclamation screen immediately release the Volume Down key.
WPRT should recognize your phone and revert you to official. You can go back on 10 if you like...
