Recall feature in Microsoft Outlook 2010 ERROR "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found"

Question: Recall feature in Microsoft Outlook 2010 ERROR "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found"

Hi,

I am using Windows Vista.
Office 2010 purchased.
I can not recall my emails. The message I'm getting is "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found".

Hosting Exchange and I checked with the hosting co. who says they support the functionality. Quote: This function is a default feature from Microsoft. All features that Microsoft has enabled by default are enabled by us, the default settings aren't changed
by us."

How to fix it?

Thank you in advance for any information :)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Working on a fresh installation of Win7 Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate.

Got Outlook installed and setup with my mail accounts (this is the first time I'm using Outlook - moved from Thunderbird) and it synced with my phone and all seemed to be right with the world.

Then I tried to send an email message. It gives me the error: "the operation failed. an object cannot be found." and the message goes to the "Outlook" folder in the Personal Folders (even though I told it to send sent mail to another folder).

This is an GMail IMAP account in Outlook 2007. I've been googling and it might have something to do with Offline Address Books, but the instructions for rebuilding them are to open Exchange Service Manager or something like that... I don't have that.

Can someone help me out on this issue? If I can't send mail, obviously that's a killer, but I'd really like to use Outlook because I have a WinMo phone and need to sync the calendar and tasks and so on.

Thanks.

Hello

I have an error using Microsoft Outlook 2010.

This happens every time I try to reply or forward an email. I get an error that says, "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found."

I am not running any add-ons.

I have read that I need to make sure that I am using the correct smtp and I am. smtp.123-reg.co.uk is what is in the outgoing mail server. You can verify that this is the correct smtp at How to set up MS Outlook 2010 with POP3 | 123-reg Support

What other options can I look at to get this sorted?

Thank you very much for your help.

I am trying to merge several years' worth of calendar items into a single new PST file for archiving, but when I try to copy many of my calendar items I get this error:
"Outlook cannot copy the items. The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found"

Using advice elsewhere I tried creating and using a new mail profile, but now Outlook just hangs when I try to open one of my existing PST files (the item pane just displays "loading...").

Can anyone advise re. why I might be getting this error when copying calendar items from one folder/PST file to another?

I'm running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 64-bit in a home environment (using Gmail/POP3).

Dear Friends,

When trying to export Personal Folders (including sub-folders) using the Import - Export tool, in Outlook 2007, the following happens:

1. The operation goes smoothly till I type and (retype) a password, which is saved.
2. Within a few seconds, I get the message "The operation failed. An object could not be found".
3. When I check the file which I had earlier named, to store the data, I find it's there, but with only 5% or 10% of the data.

Could you please guide me what steps I could take?

With thanks,

I have a Dell Latitude D800 Laptop running Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office 2002 Professional.  Whenever I click on the "Send/Receive" button to download my emails I get the error message "Operation Failed".  However I can successfully send a test message.  This problem showed up only recently - prior to which I had no problems.  No settings have been changed. Repeated uninstalls and re-installs have not fixed this problem.  Any ideas ?

Hi,

Last week I've noticed that whenever I create a new email, everytime I try to insert an email message as an item, I get the following error: 'object could not be found'. This was working fine a week ago. I'm running XP pro SP3 and the Outlook is 2003 SP3 as well. What can I do to fix this? Thanks.

Answer:Getting error "object could not be found" in Outlook 2003

Have you run the Office Repair Tool? Have you run the PST repair tool? It would be found on the start menu under Office in the Tools folder.

Hi.

OUTLOOK 2003: "the requested operation failed" error appears on Internet E-Mail Settings IMAP pop-up?

I have been using & setting up Outlook on 2 identical W7 pro 32 bit pc's for several yr with little or or problems.

My wife & I are moving to a new area and will have new email addresses and haven't been able to get past the above error (pix below). My ISP Charter & they are always making changes to their email program & settings. Also, after months of no W7 updates, I have just started rec'd updates for both PCs.

I'm trying to track this problem down: Am I making an operational error, or is Charter trying to get everyone using their web mail, or is MS slipping something into W7 updates to force customers to W10??
If you guys have any suggestions, etc, please advise as I will be with out an email client on my PC when our move is completed. Please see image below.

cheers,
klxdrt

My system crashed recently and I have had to restore everything. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 and was able to restore my PST file from a backup I had using the genie backup product. All my files and folders are now restored.

When I click on the send/receive button, I get this message "The operation failed. An object could not be found"

I deleted my email setup account (I'm downloading from my att account) and re set it up using the instructions on the att site. I also ran the 'repair' function off the Office CD and did the Office diagnostics.

Any suggestions?

Ok, we have a really annoying issue at work at the moment with Outlook XP.

because we deal with alot of different jobs we use a job number system so everyone knows what goes where and whats going on.
The trouble is we may have 4 or 5 people working on the same job, sending lots of emails so to get everyones emails all in one place so that anyone can pick them up we've decided to use .pst files for each job example 10.001-inbox, 10.001-sent.

now it seems that these get corrupted somehow over time because when some users try to 'close' that pst file they get the following message
"Operation failed. An object could not be found"
so they're left witha redundant file in their outlook that cannot be deleted or hidden. The emails in that folder can be moved to another pst folder so that others can gain access to the emails but we're left with redundant files.

we have one guy who has at least 20 of these un-closeable files in his outlook. i really dont know how he does it.

Is there a way to removed these files? i've tried reinstalling outlook but i still get the files which i cannot remove. I'm assuming its a registry issue?

thanks for your time

will

This error occurs when the user attempts to open an email with attachment, but not every email with attachment. He logged into several pc's and receives the same error, so it's not specific to the pc. Help...

Answer:Outlook 2K "Can't open this item, the object could not be found"

What is the extension of the attachments? Might they have been viruses that have been stripped out?

I have also seen this problem with emails that were imported from Netscape on occasion.

My manager's pc is running xp sp2 and outlook 2003 sp2 on a HP compaq dc7100.

When he randomly opens emails (by double clicking on them, not previewing/reading) and tries to print them (either menu/icon/right click), he gets the error "operation failed".

A reset doesn't fix the problem and I'm aware that html pages need to be opened properly before printing, but like I said, he opens them and gets the error.

Does anybody know of a solution/patch or an explanation?
Or is there anything else I should check for?

EDIT

The emails he gave an example of have rich text, not plain black and white. But there are plenty of rich text emails that do work.

I had a few problems with by harddrive and ran chkdsk to fix it. I'm running XP SP2. All seems fine except that none of my Office 2000 applications would work. I reinstalled Office 2000 and all are fine except Outlook. When I start Outlook, I get the message "The operation failed" and when I click OK the program exits immediately. If I go to Control Panel/Mail to check for Profile, double clicking Mail has absolutely no effect - nothing happens. I'm stumped on this and would appreciate advice. (I don't know if this is related, by my Outlook Express will also not run - it tells me MSOERES.DLL is missing....but it is present in the OE folder!)

Howdy folks,

After an uninvited guest visited my computer , and after we cleaned up his/her mess, a problem persists and I wonder if it indicates a larger problem.

When Outlook is not running, it checks for mail at regular intervals. When program is running, and I click "send/receive" the error "The operation failed" appears. When the program is running, it still checks at regular intervals.

It is possible that we screwed something up during twelve hours of cleanup, or it may be something malicious from the visitor.

It is weird. Any suggestions.

Thanks,

I recently tried to install the 'notorious" Act program and do an email merge using Outlook 2002. The system froze and I had to manually shut down the computer.

When I later tried to use Outlook 2002 and clicked on Send/Receive I got a message which states precisely "Operation Failed" (That is exact message and I am making this point since it appears that Outlook has many similar error messages, all with their own fix, but there was nothing on the net related to this 2 word error).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2002, either on its own, or did a complete reinstall of Office 2002. Still get same message.

I also did 2 or 3 System Restores and reinstalled but still get same message.

Spent some time with my ISP who say it appears that registry has been corrupted and Outlook is picking up a corrupted registry value. I thought that the Restore would have restored my registry to a previous and "good" time. Is that correct? Does System restore also restore the registry values?

Would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks
John

Answer:Outlook 2002 - "Operation Failed"

No the System Restore doesnt fix all registry problems. As even though you restored you still could have a courruptes Registry. As you restore point could be after it got corrupted.

Try using CCleaner and see if that helps clean up the registry.

When I try to "send to/mail receipent" from an office program I get the "operation failed" message. Outlook was already my default email account. I tried changing to outlook express and than back to outlook as the default...but for newsgroups I can't.
I'm guessing this is because outlook doesn't do newsgroups.
I've also tried searching through search sites but I'm not finding any answers that apply.

I should let you know...this isn't a computer I use...it's an office computer that someone else uses.

Anyone have any ideas I would really appreciate your help.

Hello, I have a friend who has a problem with his laptop. It has no floppy drives, has a DVD RW drive, and plenty of storage space.
Enough background; the problem:
Running XP Home edition SP1 his computer will not boot far enough for one to log on, Any safe mode or other wise. The error message is that lsass.exe System Error: "Object not found." He can click on OK or the X and the system reboots to run through the loop again. I've read that an executable has to be run to enable a service needed... however I can't run that from the command prompt offered on the recovery console of the XP Home cd. (someone else's CD since his version is OEM and there is no cd that he has). So I need to know how to fix this problem (preferrably without reformatting since I've heard that people that have done that run into worse problems). A side note I've installed XP again in a separate folder (same drive). Please help!

I'm using Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1

I often use the windows explorer to find a file. Then I right-click the file, Choose "Send To" / "Mail recipient" and I automatically get an e-mail with the file in attach.

This has always worked fine, until yesterday.
Now when I send to a mail recipient, i get the following error message:
"Microsoft Office Outlook" / "The operation failed"
Unfortunately, the message gives no more details regarding the cause of the error.

I can stil create a new mail in outlook, click on the paperclip icon and attach a file from there. Only the "send to" option doesn't work anymore.

Any suggestions to solve this problem or to find the cause of the problem. Does Outlook have a error log anywhere where I could find more info?

I do not have the infected computer at my access right now (brother in law's computer) so I have not been able to see exactly what is going on, so this is simply a general question post for now:

At startup, his Windows XP system shows an error that reads something similar to "lsass.exe operation failed - operation was unsuccessful". I tried to get him to boot into safe mode but somehow the same error appeared. From what I gather from a little research this seems to be some sort of registry problem. I am going over to his home tomorrow (for some reason everyone thinks I am the computer genious of the family). Any idea on what I am getting into in trying to get his system back on track?

Hi,
I ran ComboFix after malwarebytes, SAS, and TDSSkiller all failed to remove something that redirected my search results to infected sites. I ran ComboFix in safe mode and it successfully found problems and deleted some files. In IE, my search results don't seem to redirect anymore, but I can't open Chrome or Firefox due to "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." I ran System File Checker and it ran to 100% and closed, but I still get the registry key message.
I've attached my ComboFix log
thanks

You need to attach logs from Malware Bytes Superantispyware and MGTools.

The error message you are getting will be solved by performing a reboot of the machine.

I just reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my laptop, and when I went to download Windows Updates, it threw me this error message "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key marked for deletion." with the error code 800703FA. I also tried to run the .NET Framework installer and got the exact same message. I looked the error up and it's my understanding that it is a registry error? This doesn't make much sense though, as this is a fresh install of Windows.

Hi,

After trying to upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1 on my Inspiron 7000, my Windows install would freeze during the start up process - the Dell logo would appear and the loading icon would stop. I had Linux installed on a separate partition so I went into the BIOS and moved Ubuntu ahead of Windows - this was the mistake. After exiting, I get the error message "Operation System not found". When I start up, I see the options F2 Setup and F12 Boot Options, however I cannot access either - the text will become bolded to show that I have selected it but I always get brought to the same screen which says "Operation System not found".
Any ideas on how to proceed? I don't mind losing the files and folders on the device, I just want to be able to use the laptop again.

Thanks.

Answer:"Operation System not found" error message on Inspiron 7000

It looks like the MBR or GPT that tells the BIOS/UEFI where to start booting has been messed up.  If you created restore media before upgrading to Windows 10, I'd use that and start all over.  If not, you can go here to download or order your recovery media.

Hi,

I am currently getting an error on boot saying that the "Operation System not found." Diagnostics showed that the 5+ year old SSD was dead. I replaced the drive with a new one and planned to install Ubuntu before deciding if I should reinstall Windows 7. I have tried booting from several USB drives created in both Rufus and uNetbootin, but I have not been able to successfully boot from USB no matter what I do.
Seems like many people have problems booting the XPS 15zs from USB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
So; I have a Dell Inspiron 7720 laptop with a reformatted hard drive and I need to reinstall windows 7. I do not have the original Reinstallation DVD that came with this exact laptop but I do have one from another Dell Laptop ( a Studio 1558) and another Windows 7 disc from a desktop (the discs and the OS that was on the laptop before the HDD fail are all Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit). When I turn on the laptop with either disc and mash F12 and then select "CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive" from the boot options the screen immediately displays "Operation System not found" and stays at this screen until restarted.
I have run a full diagnostic check and everything passed, I have made sure the CD-RW Drive is no.1 in boot priority (don't imagine that matters if I  manually select it). The HDD and CD-RW Drive are detectable in BIOS too.... I have no idea what the problem is, any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Many thanks in advance,

WinXP Pro, fully updated. Office XP SP2.Audiotrieve's Inboxer anti-spam program got a rave review in PCA recently but it's caused me some trouble. I changed the PST file Outlook was using for email delivery. When I tried to close the redundant PST file I got the message "Operation failed. An object could not be found". Same message if I tried to view its properties. Tried renaming the file but it still apears as "Personal Folders" (but then it can't be expanded). Uninstalled the Inboxer program but no luck. Tried restoring this PST file back as the main email delivery folders, but it still won't work. I tried substituting a known valid PST file with the same name, but that didn't help, so it's not the PST file itself that's gone wrong. This Inboxer integrated with Outlook, installing a toolbar, and creating 2 new folders in the PST file. Any ideas? I hate the idea of System Restore (after some nightmare experiences).

Hi there,

I don't usually have virus problems but yesterday managed to get the super-annoying "Vista Guardian 2010" all over my computer. I followed some tips and ran AVG, and Spybot and it seemed to have got rid of it.

hxxp://www.myantispyware.com/2010/01/28/how-to-remove-vista-antispyware-2010-vista-antivirus-2010-vista-guardian/ - that's the actual instructions I followed.

Thing is, now I've got this intensely annoying issue with my Firefox link (and IE link, if I choose for that to be there) on start menu. It just doesn't work, and every time I click I just get an error message saying "explorer.exe application not found" then it asks me if I want to remove the non-working link. I tried setting the associations again in Default Program and have searched the internet for tips, but can't seem to beat it. Also tried some an .exe fix file but no luck. As far as I can tell, nothing else is affected, but I don't have a clue if it's still infected or my laptop is just wounded now.

Any help would be much appreciated. Oh, and I don't have access to a boot disk or Windows disc.

Here is the DDS log and attachments..

So I am trying to run a three of different programs for modding a game called Fable The Lost Chapters. Every time I try to run the darn programs I get the following error, followed by a string of code I don't understand that is unique to each program:

"object reference not set to an instance of an object. when i try to run a program"
The strange thing is I've never gotten this error before and these programs were all made by different people, for my OS, and no other people that I know of have encountered this particular error which means the problem is on my end. The people said I needed .net 3.5, which after some googling I learned I do.

So I really want to get this worked out so I can use the programs, and I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

P.S. Please note that I have no experience with programming whatsoever.

Answer:"object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when running program

This looks like a programming bug with the mods, so I suggest getting the latest patches for the game or contacting the authors of the programs with details of the error message to get it fixed.

Could some please explain the correct sequence or syntax of the http entries in the Internet Explorerís browser address line to invoke the name and password entry box for a D-Link Camera, when accessing it remotely?

I have a dynamic host, which has an address that is entered in the browser's open box, in the following format:

I have tried the remote (internet) access on computers running both Windows XP home and professional, service pack 3.

If I am on my wireless intranet, I can access the cameras by either typing in their local IPs into the open box on the File Menu of Windows Internet Explorer or by using the IP Surveillance Software, no problem, so far. Each camera has an internal static IP, and each has been assigned its own HTTP port number which has been forwarded to the respective static IP in the Linksys WRT54G router.

Each Camera has an administrator name and password that has been saved. When accessing on my intranet, either through IE or the Surveillance Software, there is a drop down box that opens to input the name and password. This works fine on the intranet.

Okay, this problem has me ripping my hair out!

I want to do something extremely simple.

I am trying to SHARE a folder from a computer called "NAS" to a computer called "HTPC".

Both are on the same network. I can remote-desktop from one to the other, no problem.

But when I try to share, and I input HTPC, I get the following error:

This is simple, right? So, someone has to be able to help me!

Answer:"An Object Named "X" Cannot be Found" (!)

Do you have a user called HTPC on the machine NAS? It is asking what users you want to have access to the folder.

I came up with an issue trying to use SharePoint designer and InfoPath from a custom list.  My problem was I could open SharePoint designer or InfoPath.  Every time I tried to open SPD, it will send me to the download because of the add on missing
(hence I already had SPD installed on my machine.) the same was with InfoPath. I was getting an error "Microsoft InfoPath 2010 is required to use this feature." I researched the internet and everyone recommended to enable the
SharePoint Document Class Add on Missing in IE within IE add-on. my problem was
SharePoint Document Class Add on was missing from the IE add-ons list. Other blogs recommended to install SharePoint foundation which never heard of installing SharePoint foundation on a user computer.  One site recommended
to uninstall/install outlook. This ringed the bell and let me to do a repair on my office suite. After doing a repair I was able to open SPD and InfoPath. Hope this helps someone out there.

All of a sudden I could not find my sent mails in the Sent Items Folder. I looked for help from the forums and got a suggestion to create another profile to test whether I can see my sent mails there. I followed the instructions but there was not enough to lead me through so I don't think I completed creating a profile. Then I got another suggestion to purchase the Registry Booster to clean up my registry. After I did that I was able to see my sent mails again.

However I still continue to see the Outlook Data File Popup with the message "This data file has not been configured. Select an existing file to configure or try the name of a new file to create". After I clicked "OK" then I got another pop up to prompting me to choose a file from the Libraries.Documents directory. I clicked "Cancel" then I got another pop up with "Properities for this data file must be defined prior to use". I clicked "OK" and then I got the Outlook Data File Popup and the same subsequent popups again. After clicking through I was able to start my Outlook but when use the registry Booster to scan I got more error messages. So apparently these errors from Outlook is mucking up my registry. Anyone has any idea about this problem? Please help. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Helen.

Answer:Outlook 2010 Error message "This data file has not been configured"

Hi Helen,

Firstly, you certainly do not need any registry boosters to solve Outlook data file issues - was this a recommendation made by someone, or was this suggested to you by an automated pop-up? If its the latter, is there any chance you could be infected by some sort of malware?

To solve the Outlook issue, do you know where your Outlook data file is being stored? Can you do a search on your computer for all files with this extension:

.pst

Post back here with your findings. Also, can you tell us about your current system : what anti-virus software are you using. I'm a bit concerned about this Registry Booster : generally speaking, in most cases you really do not need/want to be mucking with the registry at all.

Regards,
Golden

I just installed Outlook 2010 on my new Samsung laptop running Windows 7 a few days ago (an upgrade from Outlook 2002 that I was previously using on my old computer running XP). My husband & I have 4 different email accounts, so I started configuring all of them on the new version & it all seemed to be working fine. Last night my husband moved our saved emails, etc., from our old computer to the new one. At first everything went smooth. All the stuff we still had on the old pc showed up in all the right places in our new inboxes. Once he was finished, we tested send/receive several times & it was all working fine. That is, until this morning...

After powering up the laptop & starting Outlook, I've discovered that all email accounts work EXCEPT our main account. This is the error message I keep getting:

Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
Receiving' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

I used one of our other email accounts that work to send my husband an email showing him the error. He has no idea how to fix it & I have tried to find an answer online & can't. Can anyone (as if you're talking to a child) explain to me how to fix this problem? Thanks.

I'm trying to help my sister clean up her computer. She's really not kept it up as far as malware protection goes, so I'm wondering if anyone can take a look at this HijackThis log to at least START this process. She can go to some websites, but others just have to shut down due to an "error". She said when she's run scans, they find "trojan viruses" and she deletes them, but the problems still occur. Office 2007, updated with all Service Packs and patches. All other file extensions open fine with exception of ".doc". When opening a .doc file, (for example, "sample.doc"), I get error message that states "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open." Click OK, and dialog box behind it states "The file could not be found. (C:\Documents.doc)". Click OK and new box says: "This file could not be found. (C:\Documents and Settings\...\and.doc)". Click OK and new box says: "The directory name is not valid. (C:\Documents and Settings\...\sample.doc)." Click OK and document finally opens.

Can someone help resolve this issue?

Answer:Microsoft Word Error: "This file could not be found."

Try the Office Repair.

Assuming Windows 7 since you never stated your OS:
Open up Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> find Office 2007 in the list -> Right click -> Change -> select the 'Repair' option -> Click 'Next' -> let it run through its steps.

I got a freeware theme, in the instruction, the guy said:

This theme was created using desktop architect. In order to simplify the installation on Windows XP systems, all the components have been grouped together in a single folder. All the themes have been referenced to the base theme folder. %ThemeDir%\Football. If you encounter a "path not found" error, replace the %ThemeDir% with your path and folder.i.e. C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\Football

Now, I know it's a path problem, but as it is now, I unzip it at the c:\program Files\Plus!\Themes

and I got that path not found error as I go to Desktop and select theme.
How do you fix this?

Hi,

Think this just shades being in here rather than the Vista forum (?)

Our company has a modified CRM system which is used to manage workflow and generate staff activity diaries within several departments. There is a central SQL database, but part of the way it operates is by syncing with Outlook to generate certain activity prompt emails.
When a user launches the software, one of the things it does first is start Microsoft Outlook in the background (as a service).

I recently installed the software on a Vista box to test it. I had to set it to run in XP compatibility mode (otherwise it doesn't launch at all) but otherwise it seemed to work ok except for refusing to open Outlook on launch. It comes up with 4 errors...

OLE: Get FolderInbox CALL FAILED
OLE: Get FolderDeleted CALL FAILED
OLE: Get FolderCalendar CALL FAILED
OLE: Get FolderContacts CALL FAILED

Now, the company that wrote the system and provide the support switched to a .net version a while back. They say they don't support the old version on Vista.

The PC has Outlook 2007 installed. We have the system running fine on XP boxes with Outlook 2007.

My best guess is that this is either something to do with the permissions on Vista, or it is using some kind of connection method that has been retired/disabled/turned off in Vista.

I have tried running the CRM as administrator, and attempted to set Outlook to run as administrator (although whether this would work when it is launched in the way described ... Read more

So, my computer was once owned by a corporation, and there are various policies in place that lead to error messages and a lack of access (even though I am an administrator).

1) I can't access the Firewall or Windows Update features
2) Sometimes when I'm trying to install software, I get a message that says "This operation was cancelled due to restrictions in place on your computer. Please contact a network administrator" or something like that.

I have access to regedit (after a bit of work) and have been able to win back some of my privileges. However, I can't seem to find the right restrictions to apply to the above issues.

Oh, also: editing policies in gpedit does not do anything! None of the policies take effect.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Thanks.

I am currently servicing a computer which gives the following information in a "stop" (red circle, white X) message "lsass.exe - System Error; Object name not found". I decided to do a repair install; error message still occurs during the post-reboot (second) phase of the repair install. If I close the box, the computer reboots. It turns into an endless cycle of reboots if I continue to click.

I am authorized to do a reinstall if necessary, and may do so. As a courtesy, I would like to provide the owner with a backup of his documents and settings prior to the fresh install. But because I cannot boot into Windows successfully, I need to find a boot CD image (preferably freeware) that will allow me to backup the user's documents and settings without the need for the Windows GUI (offline, I believe it's called).

Does anyone know of one?

Hi,
My laptop is Dell Vostro 5560. Yesterday I was installing Windows 8.1. Installation was almost complete until I heard a sound and my laptop was turned off.
Then I powered it back and tried to install Windows 8.1 again. But when it asked me, "Where to install", I saw there was no hard drive partitions. It was blank. It says, Windows can't load any drives.
Well, afterwards I searched this problem on the web and I came across a solution which said to install GParted Partition Editor. I booted GParted Partition Editor and I deleted my hard drive. Then I saw my hdd memory was unallocated. Then I tried to boot Windows 8.1 and finally it booted.
Now comes my main problem!! Then I shut down my laptop. When I turned it on, it said the same problem that operation system not found. I tried to boot Windows 8.1 but there was no hdd partition to install. Then I used the same precedure using GParted Partition Editor. It worked perfectly last time. But this time despite of cleaning my hdd using GParted Partition Editor, Windows was unable to detect any hdd while installing Windows 8.1.
I opened Command Prompt and run code "diskpart", then "list disk". But there was also no hdd, only my pen drive where I'm booting from.
Then I tried to install other OS, for example, Ubuntu. I successfully installed Ubuntu and it also detected my hdd successfully. But when I turn off my pc and power it back again, it says the same error "Operation System Not Found!"... Read more

Answer:Each time I power on my laptop, it says "Operation System Not Found"

Is the BIOS reverting to default settings?
Turn on legacy and turn off safe/secure boot etc, and then power down for a few minutes. Check again they haven't changed.
I wonder if it's some problem with MBR/GPT/UEFI setup of new partitions and gparted hasn't handled it properly.
MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable CD is a more Windows like tool and may help.
Sadly, I haven't messed around with GPT and UEFI systems so save Googling, I can't help more.

Hi guys I work for an ISP and embarrassingly I am really stumped with this one. I have a customer using Outlook Express every he try's to compose an email OE try's to force him to create a contact and its annoying him. Every time he clicks send it comes up "no matches found" he is using XP I did a google search but only found information regarding this issue related to 98 and 95 none of the resolutions applied to XP.

Sadly my XP machine is out of action at the moment and I cant tinker with it, your help is much appreciated.

Answer:OUTLOOK EXPRESS "NO MATCHES FOUND" ERROR

After 4 years with no answer, I hope this helps someone else and saves the obligatory 1/2 hour searching dead posts with no helpful solution (in 2 minutes flat).

HERE'S HOW TO 'FIX' THE 'NO ADDRESS FOUND' ERROR: (1.) Open Address book and simply double click on the faulty contact entry. (2.) The 'Properties' window should pop up, now click on 'name' tab and add a dash after the 'last' name field entry. The 'display' field should reflect the additional dash after the name. (3.) Now click 'OK' to save changes then close the address book. (4.) Now create a new message and begin typing the contact name which should auto-fill the name showing a dash after name. Now it should work, BUT the extra dash may be seen by the recipient. TRY ADDING A DIFFERENT CHARACTER AFTER THE NAME IF DASH LOOKS FUNNY. GOOD LUCK ----dUCKBILL

Do you know what master/slave mean when it comes to hard disks? Also, that it actually matters which plug goes where when you use a 80-wire IDE cable?

You must have changed someting somewhere. Changed jumper positions, changed cable locations, changed BIOS settings.

I am getting problem whenever I?m trying to send Email using Microsoft outlook express 2007. I am getting this error message ?Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Error Number: 0x800CCC0F? please help me in resolving this error.

Answer:Why is this error coming "Error Number: 0x800CCC0F" in Microsoft Outlook Express continuously?

Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. I assume that you?ve ruled these out.

The problem may also occur if you have an antivirus e-mail protection utility enabled, which checks the mail as it comes in from your Post Office Protocol (POP) server. To test this, disable the antivirus e-mail protection utility as well as the Windows Firewall.

Another likely cause is that there is a message that is either too large or corrupt in some manner. Logon to your servers Webmail site and delete the offending message there.

I just resolved an issue I had with the wireless connectivity of my Acer notebook computer and now I am getting strange error messages. When I try (not every instance) to open device manager I will get the message "Failed to open empty document." From there I will occasionally get "Parser" messages that say "Value creation failed at line 843" or "line 422." I read what I could find about these messages and it points to MMC as the cause. How do I go about fixing this annoying problem if anyone knows?

Answer:*RESOLVED* Media Center "Tuner Not Found" error, "Receiver service has stopped"

Okay, I resolved the first two issues, Tuner error and ehrecvr error. It had to do with multiple Admin user accounts on my computer. My computer was originally set up with a user Robert Baker with full privileges as administrator. I then also set up a MediaCenter account with full privilidges. For whatever reason the MediaCenter account has access to EVERY action on the computer except starting the ehrecvr service.1.† First set Media Center Service Launcher to log on at NT Authority††† Services > Right-Click Windows Media Center Service Launcher > Properties > Log On tab > Log On As 'This account: ' > Type " NT AUTHORITY/LocalService " > Click Apply > General tab > Start service.2. I then set the Media Center Scheduler Service AND Media Center Receiver Service to log on as my other admin account. Same as above but with other account credentials and started the services.3. Reboot and no ehrecvr errors. Since this was a good sign I tried WMC and was able to set up my TV fine.I STILL, however, get the "Upgrade in progress" message when I open Media Center. Anyone know how to fix that? I've run setup again and can't get rid of it.

I have a fairly new Seagate 3TB USB3.0 drive that I've been using as a data backup on my desktop. I've been just copying stuff over to the drive once a month or so, but decided that I may as well use the backup feature in windows 10. However, I'm running into an issue.

The drive is usable and I can drag/drop files over to it. I've tried "Include in Library" both my data drive and my backup drives, but that doesn't seem to work. I've tried searching the forum but didn't find anything. Any suggestions?

I've got a computer on a corporate network that is getting an error when trying to send/recieve. I get "reported error (0x8004010F): the operating failed. An object cannot be found". The problem is isolated to just this one computer. It is new and is running windows 7. No other version of office has been installed. I tried adding a DNS A entry for autodiscovery.ourdomain.com but it didn't help. I've also tried re-discovering the settings for the account using the automatic account thing. The account can send and recieve mail, but the calander doesn't update and apparently some of the contacts are missing. Because it's an isolated incident and other machines running office 2010 are working, it makes me think that it's a client side problem, not server side. Would it be a good idea to try reinstalling office? or is there a better solution?

Passive-voice listening technology found in the Qualcomm 800 and higher chipsets lets users call up the Cortana personal assistant by just using their voice, even when the device is in standby. as your device has qualcomm 400 chipset so hardware wise it is not supported ;) goodd ay

Hi all. I am unable to get a shared folder from one user account on the same machine to add to another user account's Libraries due to this "folder not indexed" error. The same thing occurs when trying to add across the network to a different computer for a different user account's Libraries.

The folder permissions are set correctly, and they can be browser through Explorer. Just can't get them to add to Libraries.

I have Drive Indexing turned off on my C:\ drive, as the OS is on an SSD. I believe the consensus is turning off indexing is best for the life of such a drive. Is this where my conflict lies? Is there a fix or work-around?

Thx,
Kov

Answer:Attempted Share to Libraries Results in "Folder Not Indexed" Error

Hi Kov,

You're asking if disabling Disk properties: Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to properties
on an SSD would cause the issue on your machine.

Probably not.

You might see if rebuilding the index solves it for you: Index - Rebuild

Hi, just as the question title says, I am having a RunDLL error with the windows dll "streamci.dll".

I am getting this error while trying to install my Audio Drivers on my newly set up XP OS.

During the installation of XP, a couple of files were not copied properly.
because the CD was scratched up pretty badly, but I had no other copy of the CD, I had to just skip and hope windows installed, and was usable...

Are there any tools, that can scan your computer for missing windows DLL's and re-install them?
I have already tried downloading the file streamci.dll from the internet and installing it with

Code:
regsvr32 streamci.dll
in the command line, but I get the following error:
RegSvr32

"Streamci.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
This file can not be registered."Click to expand...

Would downloading and re-installing SP2 from microsoft, possibly fix this problem?

Any Ideas?

Answer:RUNDLL ~ "Error Loading Streamci" ~ "The Specified module could not be found"

What version of XP Pro did you install with that CD?

XP Pro original

XP Pro SP1

XP Pro SP2

Have you downloaded and installed the SP3 upgrade?

Hey everyone,
recently I was, after a long time, on the Windows Phone feature suggestion site.
I realized very fast, that there was a big feature missing! And because at the top
suggestions, there seemed to be about 4 or 5 written by the same author
(he finished with "a group of wp users"), i thought that windows phone central
was responsible for upvoting these ideas
The feature missing, is a new way of "deleting" or marking a suggestion as "done"
and releasing the whole votes used for this suggestion.
For this, i recommend an "mark as done" button for every suggestion, on which
every user can click once (per suggestions). If it reaches a Limit, for example
1000 clicks by 1000 users, the suggestion changes to "done".
The advantages are, that microsoft doesn't have to try to keep it clean ( I think
they aren't even trying to). So we users are more or less responsible to do so.
Many suggestions are already outdated, though they have about 5k votes. these
votes need to get "free". I think it would help to see very good ideas, which have
only a few votes. For example it could help the individuals idea without the help
of a supportive forum like Windows Phone Central.
Mostly I think you can come up yourself with more advantages, so I want to
get on the point:
Please try to create a feature suggestion (with the support of this forum) to help Microsoft
for a better feature suggestion site (not only for Windows Phone). I would gladly give
my 3 votes for it!
Thank you very much... Read more

Hello all fairly new to this page so would gladly apreciate some advice on trying to get past a niggly error message which is recuring despite carrying out Microsofts Solutions.
Any feedback will be a bonus as this fault is randomly popping up and is incredibly annoying doesnt seem to happen at specific times say when creating a task as microsoft document .
We are recieving a "Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid".
For which i have tried a number of differing solutions via microsoft including creating new mail profile, renaming outlook data files, .ost and .pst repairer tool, outlook check and repair facilty as well as removing live meeting which can aparently cause a conflict. We are using Office 2003 SP1 and this is a networked PC gettin mail from Exchange 2003 server. An isolated incident here but still very annoying as other computers run fine using same hardware and OS ) Thanks Again Have fun all

It blows my mind (small explosion, I admit) that Microsoft Edge didn't come with a "Save As" feature when downloading something from the internet allowing us to change the name of the file as well as the location in which it is being saved. And I was hoping that with updates it would be added. However, I still don't see the feature, even after this November update.

Does anyone know if this will ever be added? I have been using Edge since it came out, but if this kind of boneheadedness continues, I will be switching back to IE.

Answer:"Save As" Feature in Microsoft Edge

I agree it is a backward step - I loved the ability to change the filename and the location where I wanted to store it. I'm hoping this will get fixed but in the meantime if you only want to change the location away from the default there is a tutorial showing you how to do this with a small registry change:

Hi y'all. I run plain-vanilla Windoze-7 on a new Dell desktop, at home. I use Outlook for mail (wife's suggestion) and it worked normally for a month. But recently when I click on a link in an email, program displays,
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

This seems to be a genuine Windoze msg, not a virus.

Tried looking thru Outlook's Help but...nothing. Now I'm wondering if perhaps I inadvertently changed a setting on the OS itself, which is what I'm checking here.

Anybody ever seen the message noted above? Ideas on what it means and how to fix? Many thanks.

I just ran into another unreasonable restriction on access to my own computer in Windows 7. When using MS Outlook 2003 this evening, I tried to open a link inside an email from a forum moderator. It contains instruction on how to change my password after having to reset it. A message pops up saying "this operation canceled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator".

This is moronic I am the only user on this computer and am the administrator. I don't have a clue on how to fix this.

I am also blocked from opening folders in some cases too. For example, I want to access my program application data and get a similar message.

This is the stupidist thing that I have seen Microsoft do in many years. Are their programmers morons or just not able to realize that real people will be running their programs and we are not all located in a huge room with administrators running all over the place.

Is theire a way to overcome this idiocy?

Thanks

A few users in our network started using this feature and now when the user removed the delegates. The delegates are still able to view the other person's In-Box.

I checked the permissions - it's empty of other users
I checked the "Delegates" folder and it's empty.

So why is it that user1 is still able to view user2's Inbox?
I tested another user, for example: User3's permission is normal because User3 cant view User2 or User1 by using the "Open other user's folder: Inbox"

Hey people...I think i have a problem nobody can help me with.I run Outlook 2002, with newest updates and all...If i use the find feature, it'll work. It starts searching. If i then press the STOP button, it will continue searching. The only way to stop it, is changing folders. But that'll cause you to loose the selection.I searched through the MS Knowlegdebase, but couldnt find anything. I've used google... that didnt profide me with any help. This situation is on every machine. I used multiple workstations, reinstalled the application a couple of times, even installed a new image.Local i cannot get it to stop.If i use outlook 2002 through a Citrix-session it can be stopped.. so my guess is, that resources are short on the client. BUT these workstations are not old.. there all P4 3.2Ghz with 1GB mem. This is not a big problem, it just annoys me..  The PST files aren't that big, about 400MB, as is the mailbox.Running with Exchange... If anyone thinks he can help me, and needs some more info...Just reply... ;-)Thanks in advance!Rox

Iím not sure what Iíve done wrong, but my attempts to remove a bug seem to have only made things worse.

First, I caught virus -- one of those fake anti-virus programs that keeps running false scans, etc. It is called: ďXP Antimalware 2010.Ē I had something like this not long ago and I was able to remove it without too much trouble. This time, though, my attempts to fix the issue have disabled most of my programs.

When I started seeing the virus popups, I tried to follow these instructions:

http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/03/17/how-to-remove-xp-antimalware-2010/

I followed the steps in version one, entering this data into a reg.fix file I created with notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@="exefile"
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"

After the reboot, however, many other programs are no longer working. Firefox, itunes, malwarebytes, etc, etc, etcÖ.no longer function. Iím totally stumped and I think I am out of my depth.

I'm using Windows XP.
Please help?

Hi

After i have removed some spyware/trojans I starting getting this error message when I try to access the eventlog:

event log "unable to complete the operation on" eg. system "the interface is unknown" windows xp.

Also I can add programs to Symantec internet security 2005 firewall, reinstalling don't fix it. Some programs also start to fail, "bad image" or you don't have admin premissions.

Reinstalling SP2 or using system restore for XP don't fix any thing.

I have scanned my computer with 4 antispyware programs, and 4 antivirus programs and check it with hijackthis so my machine should be clean.

Does any one have any Idears?

Answer:event log "unable to complete the operation on" "the interface is unknown" windo

maybe you removes something with hijackthis which your system needs

go to start, run and type "sfc /scannow"
then it will rpompt you for the XP CD, put it in and let it scan your computer for corrupted or missing files

Running W2000 & IE6. When opening any web page, we get a "CS Host message" window which states "name = Error number = -2146827859 description = Automation server can't create object message = Automation server can't create object"

This message appears 3 times in succession when first opening IE and then reappears each time we go to a new page.

Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:IE6 error "automation server can't create object"

Do you have Java enabled? Go to tools, internet options, advanced tab. Scroll down to Java and check your settings.

Recently when I use installshield Wizard, i get an error from installshield that says "0X80040706 Object Reference not set." Now I look around and come up with this which tells me to download drivers from here
but when I get to the version I'm running (7.01) It has me download something that requires installshield wizard to be operating properly for it to install. And so it doesn't. I've tried a variety of other things as well, and nothing seems to work. Please provide assistance, so I can install my new games.
