Preferred Solution: My keyboard is typing wrong values

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My keyboard is typing wrong values

After you have restarted, the problem comes back quickly? Or awhile later?

Most of the letters come out ok, but some of the keys writes wrong letters e.g. key with letter 'I' gives '5', 'O' gives '6', etc. And it's not the problem of keyboard layout, it's U.S. English and never been changed to another one. Problem persist in each application including command prompt. OS is XP Pro. Norton didn't detect any virus. Anyone has a clue?

This has been happening every other day for me recently where I will be typing and my keyboard will randomly start typing the wrong letters or pressing certain keys will open the menu bar, but my computer to sleep or just type completely random letters. I've googled it once before and found that I should change the settings in control panel > regional and language settings which worked for me once but lately it doesn't.

I've even purposely added a foreign language and then re added my normal one (UK) but hasn't helped, it was already on the proper settings anyway. The last two times it has happened was on the night and left my keyboard unplugged, the next day I plugged my keyboard back into the tower while the computer was still loading up and it has been working fine now and did the same again last night. I don't know why it does this? Also google suggested a FN key but my keyboard doesn't have one.

Are you sure the Regional Info is correct? If you have changed it have you rebooted it?Sounds like the US keyboard drivers / settings at install instead of UK.

Answer:keyboard typing wrong characters

It is necessary for you to replace the keyboard. It is not sending the correct signals to the motherboard. Yes, even a notebook computer has a replacable keyboard. It's a job best assigned to a qualified computer technician, to find and order a compatible keyboard, and to disassemble the laptop far enough to be able to swap the keyboard.

My keyboard is typing correctly in Word but types nonsense when I type in either a browser window or in my email. If I type a web address in Chrome, Explorer or Firefox it comes out as random letters, symbols and numbers and the same if I try to type an email in yahoo or gmail. As I say, it is fine typing in Word. Any ideas gratefully received.

PS I have been into Control Panel and made sure regional settings and keyboard setting are for English (UK)

My mother's computer started having issues with the keyboard, recently. I'll say it how i see it, but obviously, i might be missing something.

When typing the letter q on the keyboard, "qt" comes up. w and e are fine, r types "re". This happens with two different keyboards. I brought by my (this) keyboard, and it worked fine, but i only tried for a minute. On her computer, i tried both a ps2 and usb keyboard (native for both, no adapters).

Right now, if i try to login, when i click on a user, it fills in the password field (as if there was a stuck key) and tells me the caps lock is on. Capslock button does turn it off, but it did not look like backspace was doing anything. The bios did not complain of a stuck button. Safe mode (i happened to try with networking) has the same issue. No issue using the keyboard before windows loads.

Using teamviewer from my computer to hers is tough. I can hit capslock with sometimes works, keys sometimes work and sometimes don't, if it types in two letters, i can use the mouse to highlight one (to overwrite) when continuing. With a lot of effort and time i can login. Clicking icons on the desktop does not work, from the start menu does.

I tried hitting the helper menu to get the on screen keyboard for logging on. The first time i tried, it came up and worked. Now the button doesn't do anything.

I went into Device Manager (early on, when i could still do things) and deleted the keyboard. It made me reboot, but didn't se... Read more

Answer:Keyboard typing wrong letters

Just tried again via TeamViewer. I can delete in the password field, but it acts as if there is a stuck key. (This is different than the last time i tried.) The form with the option for the on screen keyboard now does come up, but the keyboard is an empty frame and the mouse cursor (while over the frame) shows the circle of waiting.

This is weird. It's like Schrodinger's cat or something. The problem changes every time i look at it!

That is most likely a virus, you need to run a full scan with your antivirus and make sure it isn't compromised. I would also recommend you move this to the malware forum, then you will get it touch with people that are certified to help you with this.

E shows up as ]
D shows up as ''

Esc, start, [ , n, y, I, F1-F12 keys don't register, among a few others..

Things I've tried so I don't waste anyones time.. [Windows 7]
Changed Location, Keyboard Layout (English - US) is the only language
Ctrl - Shift x1/2, Alt - Shift x1/2, and pretty much any other variant I could think of.
Plugged another keyboard in, same thing.
Plugged keyboard in another computer, works like a charm.
Restarted, plugged and unplugged. Uninstalled and tried to update driver..

Nothing worked so far, hopefully you can can make something happen.

Answer:KeyBoard Buttons are typing the wrong letters

Did you set your keyboard language to US or UK.
Go into the control panel and click Regional and Language Options, click the Languages tab, click Details button, then check in the box to make sure English (United Kingdom) and under Keyboard you have United Kingdom. If this is what you prefer.

Ok, so I had Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2, but I wanted Professional because I heard it takes advantage of the dual core thing when Home doesn't, so I installed Windows XP Professional Media Center Edition 2005 and then upgraded to Service Pack 2. I didn't do anything on the computer before upgrading to Service pack 2, except register the computer and things, which I found out my problem. When entering my Email, instead of the @ sign coming up, the " sign came up.. here is a list of the keys that shouldn't be coming out when the button(s) is/are pressed(Note, I have an American Keyboard and an American copy of Windows):

Shift+2="
Shift+3=
Shift+`=
Shift+'[email protected]
Not this / but the other slash=#
Shift+Not this / but the other slash=~

Is there anything known to fix this? Because this is getting very annoying, and I just want my keyboard to be normal lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Apologies for what is probably a stupid question.
I have a Tecra A2 and run XP proffesional.
Suddenly some of the keys are typing symbols different to those indicated on the keys.
Pleeeeze tell me how to reset the keyboard to default.

With thanks, Danny.

Answer:Keyboard keys of Tecra A2 typing wrong symbols?

Hi mate,

it could be that you have a wrong keyboard map. A keyboard map is like a draft for your hardware which identfies which char is displayed when you hit a key on your keyboard.
Keyboard maps a depending which language you use so if the symbols on the screen do not match the input of your typing then it could be that a wrong keyboard map is set.

In such case you will have to set another keyboard language.

To change the keyboard map you must do the following:
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language options -> Click on the Tab "Languages" -> Details -> Choose your input language which matches your keyboard

Good luck and nice weekend

I own a Lenovo 3000 y410  and as my title indicates it is constantly typing q even without  touching the keyboard. This doesn't seem like it is a physical problem because i was able to take the key totally off ( so that there was nothing on the sensor), and clean this area with compressed air. Even while the key was not there the problem continued, so it is not just a jammed key or anything.Could this be some other issue? Thanks

I've just recently purchased a XFX NF2S-ALH motherboard. This board supports an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ at 266MHz FSB processor which I have installed. However, the BIOS (Award BIOS) reports the processor as being a XP 1800+ and will not allow me to increase the FSB beyond 233MHz.

I also have installed a 512MB PC3200 (400Mhz) DDR stick of RAM. The motherboard supports PC3200 RAM. The BIOS reports the memory frequency at 200MHz and I cannot increase this to 400MHz.

I do not have an operating system installed.
I do not have a HDD installed.

I simply installed the CPU, memory, and video to make sure things worked.

Any help or response is appreciated. If you have any other questions I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Danke.

Answer:BIOS reports hardware values wrong

well if your bios will not allow you to up the fsb then i would reccomending flashing it. And see if that unlocks fsb and mutiplier and just crank those up until its at 2400+. That would not be ocing it but rather setting it to normal settings. But thats a little hasty i usually go for things that solve the problem but there might be a quicker solution. Lately, I have installed 2x 4 GB RAM sticks into my HP Slimline s5-1200z a few hours ago, however, upon doing this, my graphics for my games have been messing up, and sometimes my AMD video driver will crash, causing major annoyance when trying to play any games I intend to play. When I downloaded an application called Portable SIW, I noticed something quite alarming, as shown in the picture below, circled.

Here is a second picture for reference.

And for another reference.

Any possible reason for this to occur? Thanks if you can help.

Answer:BIOS reports wrong values in RAM, crashing AMD video card

Well; since you are saying the bios is reporting wrong values; you probably should check your system board "builders" site to check for any bios updates that may hopefully correct this issue. If not; also check the ram modules one by one to make sure non of them are bad and that none of the ram slots are possibly bad. Take all ram sticks out and put one at a time back in and see if you can pinpoint the issue.

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. hi bijoy3d,

Welcome to the Forums.

Windows 10
Start - Settings - Ease of Access - Keyboard

Everything here is off. If i turn on the On-Screen Keyboard no keys are Highlighted (indicating they are depressed/stuck )
When I use the hard keyboard and sometimes even the onscreen keyboard its as if either Ctrl, Alt Win or something are pressed down as it just types shortcuts.
EG:

-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via onscreen keyboard types as normal
-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via hard keyboard brings up -Chrome://history- But now also on the onscreen keyboard Ctrl is Highlighted.
I click on the onscreen keyboard to deactivate the now highlighted Ctrl button and try again. Now things are different, as now both the onscreen keyboard and the hard keyboard both bring up ?Chrome://history- when -H- is typed ( Shift is not depressed )

This seems to randomly cycle one min onscreen keyboard works fine, next the keyboard works fine or they either work or none of the work rendering the computer useless.

I cant help feel it?s a software issue but im no pro and I don?t have an additional external keyboard to try but as the onscreen and hard keyboard work ok for a while sometimes I assume something is up and that?s what brought me here.

Hopefully this is clear enough to be understood and to help others who may have the same issue.

Thank you so much for your time.

I am using BETWEEN Date()-DatePart("w",Date())+2 AND Date()

Any ideas?

I need to reassign keyboard key values. I need to copy 60,000 pages derived from a database program and I have no way to do this except hand copy the pages by doing a Ctrl-c on every page plus other keystrokes. Here is my need. I need to reassign or assign the following values to the following keystrokes. Setting up a macro within the program I need to copy from is not possible as no macro capability exists.

Ctrl-1 needs to equal TAB
Ctrl-2 needs to equal copy or Ctrl-c
Ctrl-3 needs to equal shift-tab
Ctrl-4 needs to equal down arrow key

I think there used to be a way to do this in the old DOS days but I have forgotten how. I cannot find a macro program on the web to do this quickly and reliably.

The database program I am trying to copy is a program using .idx, .ndx, and .dat files. In an earlier thread I asked if anyone on the board knew of any file viewers. If I cannot find any file viewers, I will have to copy all the pages by hand.
Thank you in advance.

Answer:Need to reassign keyboard key values

If you have 2K or XP, there is a REMAPKEY.EXE in the Resource Kit that does exactly what you want. I've been led to believe that utility from the Windows Server 2003 WRK will work just fine. Here's a site that appears to allow downloading of individual Windows Resource Kit Modules for each Windows version, I just downloaded REMAPKEY.EXE for 2K to see if there was any problem, seems fine.

Folks,

I'm having a strange problem, and I am unable to find anything in my Hijack This log, nor is SpyBot able to locate anything.

Does any of you see anything amiss in here?

Here's the problem:

i) When I type in a page in IE that does not exist,
instead of getting the default DNS error page
I get directed instead to the following page:

"www. <typed URL>.org"

and a search page http://www.your.com/index.php?nf=1
pops-up!!

This is highly, highly exasperating. Just when I thought I'd cleaned out the last of the viruses, worms, and other garbage
plagueing my computer for the last few weeks!

Will the head honchos on this site provide some insights please!

Thanks much.

I have had Japanese installed on my language bar for some time, but lately when I try to use it, the wrong characters appear when I type in the Romaji. I tried deleting the Japanese IME and re-adding it, but it made no difference. Could this be caused by a virus? How can I fix it? It still works fine on my laptop, it's only my desktop that is affected.

Answer:Wrong characters appear when typing Japanese

Hi nfarrier, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Yes, it can be virus. Did you made any changes on the PC recently?

As mentioned by Yard Dog, run Malwarebyts to scan for malwares. Run antivrus, and do SFC/SCANNOW to check for any errors.

Hi all !
I am facing a very annoying problem.
In emails, SMS, etc my WP8.1 turns "a" in "va" automatically when I type it (I'm french).
Both have absolutely not the same meaning, of course...
How could I manage to prevent this ?
Maybe is there a way to manage the phone's dictionary ?
Any suggestion is welcome ;)
JtD

Answer:Wrong auto-correction while typing a message

Try typing a, then without pressing anything else or the spacebar, press the "a" word, there should be a "+a" in the suggestion row. Not French, but I usually remember a being used next to va... Like ava or smth

When I restart or turn on my lap top after it's been off for a while it will only give me my background picture. No icons, no start menu at the bottom, nothing. Until I try to run a new task from the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL is the only keystroke-type command I know) Then everything starts appearing as if nothing was wrong. When I type online there is a huge delay between when I push the buttons and when they appear on the screen. My virus scans show nothing is wrong. (I use trend-mirco's firewall and virus scanning products and also use firefox and I don't know if trend-micro only works on internet explorer or not...) I tried defragmenting to try and speed up the typing ting but it did no good... I don't know what is wrong but I do know that I can't get the updates from the updates.microsort.com website even though they are in the trusted websites thing in internet explorer (which is what I used to try and get the updates because you can't get them through firefox) and every time I open the computer (even from stand-by) I get a message from trend micro telling me it is stopping unauthorized changes and that change is some sort of "program Library Injection" that has to be blocked about a hundred times in a minute for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the computer being on. I don't know what is wrong but I do know that something is not right.

Hi all.I'm setting up my new T460P to substitute my glorious W520, and I'm very sad about the choise at the moment. I cannot figure out how to change the boot order in the BIOS.I get into the bios (not so easy and not so stable...), go to the boot order and then... I should press the "+ or -" key to move the objects up and down through the list. I tried everything. I think near any combination of keys, but nothing.I cannot find the right key combination to send the "+" or "-". Could you please help me to change the values in the BIOS of my T460P? Thank you very much!

Recently, I'm not sure how it happened but when you type in a address wrong in Internet Explorer, you are taken to "http://www.sirsearch.com/" A search engine I have never heard of. If you press the back button it goes straight back to http://www.sirsearch.com/ so you have to press it twice (back button)

Is there anyway to restore the IE error one, the server not found or something i have forgotten what it looks like.

Hi, I am facing a weird problem. I have done multiple virus scans, PCDoctor etc. I eventually had to use an external keyboard just to login and keep working. If I press a key on the keyboard the value typed is something different.: key  a --> value typed `akey s --> value typed F1 so help comes up each timekey f --> value typed 5fkey j --> value typed 6jkey k --> value typed =kkey ; --> value typed -;key 5 --> value typed 5fkey 6 --> value typed 6jkey - --> value typed -;key = --> value typed =k Does anyone have any idea what to do about this? I read Pavan's post and it sounds like the only option is to replace the keyboard. It's almost as if the following keys are 'locked together': 5 and f, 6 and j, = and k, - and ; etc. Isn't there some weird lock activated? What is the reason this has happened? Thanks!Adele

Answer:Thinkpad 3000 C200 Keyboard problem!! Key Values are different

I found a post on a Dell laptop with the same issue... this guy said he used the built-in hardware diagnostics and identified the following conjoined pairs of keys (for this issue): 2 and 3; w and e; s and d; x and c; F1 and F2; and CAPS LOCK and F3. He eventually discovered that the keyboard connector ribbon has a predilection for coming loose underneath the keyboard, and that re-seating it can fix problems like these. He pulled out the ribbon, dusted it off and it all worked again. Now I am not a hardware techie, any other ideas about what this could be? Thanks!Adele

my colleague at work uses a Dell Inspiron 1501, 512mb ddr2-4300, AMD mobile turion 64 2.0ghz running windows xp sp2, which i just updated to sp3
We have just reinstalled windows xp, as it was full of rubbish and we wanted to improve the speed of it
before i reinstalled, i noticed that on my computer properties, it said that the cpu was running at 797mhz, however at times it does go back up to 2.0ghz.
It still does this after the reinstall.
The main issue is that there is almost constant keyboard lag, each letter will take a few seconds delay before it is on the screen.
I have tried everything i know, has anyone else had this problem before??
Could it be anything to do with the cpu freq issue? or ram?
any help is greatly appreciated

Answer:keyboard/typing lag

If you've only got 512meg of ram for XP, then you only have HALF enough.
Dell is famous for NOT installing enough ram for the installed OS.

That computer will run MUCH better with a full gigabyte and even better yet with TWO.

When the keyboard is lagging it means that the CPU is too busy to service the keyboard. The keyboard has a very low priority.

Without enough ram, your OS is living off of the hard drive. That's over a thousand times slower than the ram it should be using.

Then if you've loaded some heavy duty, resource hog, like Norton, all bets are off for getting any kind of performance out of that underpowered system.

You could also have services that you don't need and background programs that you don't need....running all the time and just sucking up system resources.

Get more Ram.

So I decided to clean my usb keyboard so I opened it with some screw drivers, little did I kow the re-assembly would be so difficut. There where these little plastic pieces for each key but they where loosly placed on some plastic sheets. I did my best at placing everything and pluged it in.

It won't type now. First time it wasn't typing but then I did something, and it typed again but a couple keys where not, so I reopened, placed and tried again. Now it's not typing at all. I'm on the on-screen kb and when I press num lock and caps lock the little green lights do turn on the usb keyboard.

I've tried uninstallng and reinstalling the drivers many times but it doesnt work. Also, for some reason, 2 HID KB devices appear, and it keeps installing one of them when scanning for plug n play devices, even when it's not plugged in.

So help please, thanks!

Answer:USB Keyboard not typing

Its corrupted now. Better purchase a new one. Never open the keyboard to its last level(separating the plastic sheets), it damages your keyboard for life.

Started a few days ago and has gotten progressively worse. Keyboard keeps typing stuff, not actual words just stuff like ?&!!!!!$ or the back button etc. Sometimes it's gone for a few hours and then it comes back even worse. I ran AVG which found nothing, Malwarebytes which found 4 infected files and deleted them, and Search and Destroy which deleted what it found. And yet, the problem persists.

I don't have access to the original Windows CD so I'm unable to reboot.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as I am way out of my element here.

Hello all;

recently, my ASUS laptop keyboard has been acting really erratic. Some examples are that every time I press a key, it types a different key or another key along with it, some keys simply don't work at all, and some keys just initiate some kind of massive sequence of autotyping a single character or random characters.

At first, I thought something must be wrong with the physical keyboard itself, but the day after I noticed the issue (which is actually today), I discovered some functions of my internet browsers aren't working probably either and not only because of the unknown keystrokes. Some of the website certificates I visited suddenly weren't trusted.

To go along with that, the touch pad I use to navigate and click on items tends to go in and out, but the actual two mouse buttons work fine. Another strange quirk when I opened notepad was that somehow the auto-key strokes started typing my computer's date and time!

I have run the latest MalwareBytes anti-malware with a full-scan and did remove some malicious objects, but the problem still remains. Could I have a virus/key-logger? Can anyone help?

Thanks for any assistance

Answer:Keyboard typing on its own

Have you tried using another keyboard?
What model Asus is it?

The certificate problem could be the computer clock is off which usually means a bad CMOS battery.

EDIT:  Any chance some liquid could of been spilled on it?

Hi. I am using on-screen keyboard right now because my keyboard infinitely types M's if I touch it. Also, it continues typing M's on its own. I have tried taking the keys off and cleaning underneath, but that doesn't work and the key doesn't appear to be stuck down. It didn't type random M's when I restarted it the first time, but now even at login on start up it types M's. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thank goodness for on-screen keyboard though, eh?

Hey gang, maybe someone out there can help me with this?

Every now and then, for some unknown reason, my keyboard gets a mind of it's own and begins typing letters I didn't strike.

It only happens when I'm already typing, like I'll be writing something and suddenly my word will turn into "week444444444444."

For some odd reason, a group of numbers just show up sometimes, inserting themselves into words I'm typing.

I'm wondering if it's because I currently use a device to share a keyboard and mouse between two computers. Maybe once I unhook that device, things will work normally. Though I'm not having that problem on the other computer sharing the keyboard, so that might not be it.

I dunno, it's mighty confusing. I can live with it, though if there's a way to fix it, I'd certainly love to give it a shot.

Anyone out there got any suggestions? I'd sure appreciate them!

Cheers,

Snaithbert

HELLO ALL!!this happened 2 weeks ago and became already a serious and unfixable problem for me..., hope someone can help me, this is the story: i installed a program and 2min. later i decided to uninstall it, while the uninstallation process the computer gave me an error which i dont remember but then a pop-up displayed "successfully uninstalled" so i restarted windows, the problem begun here, since then the pc boots-up normally but when i press down any key to type my password the mouse's pointer gets completely freeze and nothing is been typed(all this in the "password" screen, it never gets access to windows) this with a PS/2 keyboard. I though the PS/2 connector was damaged or something so i changed the keyboard for an USB one, now the mouse pointer moves around ok but still cannot type a thing, therefore still can get into windows    , i tried already in SAFE MODE and going back to the last good config. but that didn't solve the problem, I CAN NAVIGATE THE BIOS AND MAKE CHANGES BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE LETTER KEYS DONT WORK.... the new keyboard works fine in other PCs.        HELP!!

I got a laptop One K56-3N2 (Clevo P157SM) and it's keyboard keeps typing "\" without me pressing it. I tried cleaning the key but the problem persisted. I tried turning the "\"-key off / remapping it with an aplication and it did work in a way. I could remap the "\"-key to do something else, like to be a left arrow, and when i press it did work like a left arrow but it still wouldn't stop typing "\" without me pressing it.

on my keyboard to type a "@" i type "Ctr+Alt+Q". it works overall expect when I am in outlook 2010 trying to enter an email address - i.e. when I need it most.

Answer:keyboard not typing @

You don't say where you are I'll bet your '@' key is available if you press the 'Shift' and '2' keys (US keyboard), or the 'shift' and ' key (UK keyboard). If so it's because your laptop's keyboard is set to the wrong location. Go into Control Panel, 'region and language', then the 'keyboard & language' tab - change to whichever location your keyboard is from."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Hello Everyone,
(This is kind of long but I didn't know how else to explain everything)

There are two parts to my question below.

I have a spreadsheet with roughly 40 columns

An Example of some of the columns would be:

Code:

B1 = Client Name E1 = Travel F1 = Backup G1 = PC Install H1 = Data Recovery | X1 = Total | AE1 = Summary
B2 = Tony Smith E2 = $70.00 F2 = $0.00 G2 = $95.00 H2 = $0.00 | X2 = $165.00 | AE2 = (See Below)
B3 = Tom Daniel E3 = $70.00 F3 = $0.00 G3 = $0.00 H3 = $725.00 | X3 = $795.00 | AE3 = (See Below)
B4 = Rene Little E4 = $70.00 F4 = $125.00 G4 = $95.00 H4 = $995.00 | X4 = $1285.00 | AE4 = (See Below)

Currently this spreadsheet is being analyzed to be used to track field technician jobs and figure everything out for accounting.

I have been asked to please make a cell with a list of the information above so that accounting can just copy and paste from that cell into quickbooks in order to send these people out a receipt instead of having to retype everything into quickbooks. This list has to be based upon whether or not there is a value greater than 0 within that cell then it will grab both the heading cell in the first row and the value of that cell it was checking and place it as a line item in another cell.

I know how to do half of what they are asking and if I was dealing with 1 column I can do the other half.

I'm having the exact same thing on my Dell laptop. Are there any answers? The Dell has a Touch-pad disable button on top row to left of 'Insert' key.

Answer:Keyboard/Typing Issues

I'm having the exact same thing on my Dell laptop. Are there any answers?

1) Please don't bump old posts. If you have a problem, start your own thread. Help will come faster that way usually.
2) This is almost always caused by the fact that the user of the laptop accidentally hits their trackpad with their wrist while typing, causing the cursor to move and click someone else, losing focus of the text box they were typing in. Some laptops are more prone to this due to their design.

The solution is:

1) Be more careful and don't hit the trackpad.
2) Use a mouse and disable the trackpad.
3) Disable trackpad's tap-to-click feature (if possible).

Can someone help please? When I am typing whether it be in explorer or any other program my words are showing up backwards. Anyone know whats causing this?

Answer:Keyboard is typing backwards!

1.  What operating system and service pack level are you using; e.g.  Windows XP Home Edition SP2?2.  Boot into Safe Mode, which loads a basic set of drivers, to see how it performs.  Safe Mode also disables much of the software scheduled to load at startup (so there's less exposure to virus/malware activity). As you power up your system, tap the F8 key about once per second or faster.  Hopefully you'll see a startup menu with an option to boot into Safe Mode.  Use the up/down arrows of the key to select an item.  Select Safe Mode item and hit Enter key.3.  Try a different keyboard.4.  Run a malware scan.

.
Regarding your touch pad, did you actually disable it to confirm it's not interfering? There's usually a key combination for toggling the pad off/on. Check your keyboard for sticking keys. You could also plug in an external keyboard to see if it makes a difference.

I'm searching for a cover like this: eBay linkIt should be able to type as well... Any ideas?

Answer:Y2P keyboard cover (also allows you typing)

What is wrong with the one you linked above? Aside from the fact that it cannot type for you?  I too bought one that showed a different laptop. I did so under the premise that the title described the product and figured the owner was being lazy. The thing fit perfectly and was priced similarly.

The keyboard on my laptop is not inputting some of the keys I press and typing the wrong things on the screen eg. I type b and on the screen it says bn. Also some letters don't show up at all and the number keys don't work either. Caps lock and shift also don't work! The comp stared beeping a lot on startup and shut down and the number lock light wouldn't go off, but I seem to have resolved this by reinstalling ME And works suite. I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. Attached to the laptop is a 21” monitor and a usb/wireless keyboard and mouse. Everything has worked fine until this week.
When I start typing on the keyboard – either the laptop keyboard or the usb keyboard - it correctly types the first letter; thereafter it proceeds to display all the number and letters on the keyboard starting from the top left and running l to r regardless of what is actually being typed.
The keyboard is OK; I have tried it on an older laptop also running Windows 7. The keyboard settings seem to be OK, set to United Kingdom (also tried USA but with same result).
Ironically, the keyboards run OK in Word (hence this posting) but resorts to gibberish in browsers (all browsers).
At 70+ years of age, I don’t pretend to be a computer whiz kid but I am coming to the conclusion that I next need to uninstall and then reinstall Windows and if that does not rectify the problem, buy a new computer.
But before I do, anyone any bright ideas?

Answer:Keyboard typing gibberish

Sounds more like you have a virus / malware of some description if its only happening in browsers.
What protection programs do you have? I think you need to scan for virus and malware.

I'm having problems with my keyboard adding new letters to keys. Whenever I press certain keys on the keyboard many different keys pop up at the same time. Here's an example of this message typed on my keyboard without editing:

Answer:Keyboard Typing Error

I may have found the problem. It appears a few keys have become "linked" with each other. Here are the linked keys. Would buying a new keyboard fix this or should I reformat the HD?

w = wq

Hi,
I've been having a problem for several weeks, when I start typing nothing is recognised for a few seconds. Its not lag because I'm not wireless and at I've tried typing doesn't catch up. Even typing this, keys don't react all the time.
I did think that this was my keyboard to start with but I've changed it and to start with everything seemed fine but things are now back to what they were before.
Any ideas from anyone?

Just today, I started noticing some problems with my keyboard on my Windows XP Media Edition SP2 desktop computer. Every time I push a certain key regardless if I'm typing a post such as this or not, something unusual will occur. Here is some examples:

- Typing "E" will open My Computer.
- Typing "U" will open up the Utility Manager along with Microsoft Narrator.
- Typing "L" will log me out of my account.
- Typing "M or D" usually minimizes stuff such as Internet Browsers and takes me back to the desktop.
- Typing "R" brings up that Run Program field that you can access from the Start Menu.
- Typing "B" will make the current window inactive.
- Typing "F" will open the Search window for locating files on the computer.

Besides the letter "M", typing those letter mentioned above can only be typed by holding the shift button. So far, I tried turning off my computer and then turning it back on. The keyboard did work normally for about 5 minutes before the problem appeared again. I am now lost on what to do next. That keyboard is the only keyboard I have and it is a PS/2 type keyboard if that helps.

Answer:Typing on my keyboard has become a hassle.

You've got a stuck CTRL key. The things that open are exactly what would open if you used CTRL-[key]. Gently remove the CTRL key and clean around the contact. If you are getting sticky keys then it's easier to buy a new keyboard than to fiddle with a failing one. If you can borrow a keyboard then use it to test the system - I'm confident that the problem is as above.

Sometime ago I spill water on my keyboard, on the area of character '1'. And ever since the key '1' keeps typing himself when unneeded.
After the splitting I detached the keyboard and dried it, I cleaned it several times after it too. When nothing helped I even switched to a brand new keyboard, but even this didn't help.
So if the problem not in the keyboard, where it can be? Maybe it's the old connections of the keyboard and laptop? Maybe the connection is a little wrong? Or on what another levels the problem might be..

Guys I'll be grateful for answers and advices, really want t solve this problem

Answer:Keyboard keeps typing a character

When I use the spacebar / appears. When I press return # appears, when I use the back delete button a [ appears. How can I restore the usual setting?I have done a system restore, switched the laptop on and off. It has not restored the usual keyboard. I have tried all the function keys. Please could someone help me with a solution to restore the keyboard's usual settings. Thanks

Answer:Keyboard typing different keys from what it normally does

This just started suddenly? No spilling of any liquid or other "abuse" of the computer? It sounds to me like the keyboard gets the wrong signals - not even enabling num lock or anything of the kind should result in such behavior - the space bar, return and back key are all pretty much the same on all keyboard-types - unless you've installed some sort of key-remapper (which is highly unlikely, given you've done a system restore) - which makes me wonder - have you run a keyboard test from the BIOS/startup diagnostic? Most likely it's a shot keyboard, given that no abuse has taken place - run the diagnostic test on the keyboard, and see what turns up.

Answer:keyboard not typing what i enter

If it happened recently, try a system restore. It could be some type of language setting that was inadvertently set.Uninstall keyboard in device manager and restart, it should detect and load the correct drivers. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

A friend had a malware / virus attack in Chrome. It was a beeping warning that Windows Defender had error 0x80060402. She used the Task Manager to shut down Chrome and then shut off her laptop. When she tried to turn it on again nothing happened, it would not turn on. I now have the laptop, a Lenovo G580. I managed to get it started by removing all power, AC adapter, Battery and CMOS battery. I got to the Win 10 logon screen to enter her password, but no matter what key I press, it only types the number 6 in the password field. I have restarted many times with the same result. If I power down the laptop, it will not start again until I remove all power and the CMOS battery. It will then start up again, after reinstalling CMOS battery and connecting AC power. If I just restart, it will start again. I can not get into the BIOS. The time and date on the lock screen a wrong, but no way to get into the BIOS to change. I removed the hard drive and tried to boot with a boot CD, no luck there either.
I am hoping that the all powerful computer gurus on here can help.

Answer:Keyboard only typing the number 6

For the moment, my first thought is to try an external KB on it ... Then try booting and BIOS hotkeys, and go from there.

I'd also be sure of a BIOS reset by removing AC, batt and BIOS Batt, then holding power down on it for 30 sec (count it out).
(This works on my HP, may or may not work for the Lenovo, but worth a shot)

I recently moved from a desktop to a laptop and have encountered a problem. I presume that I rest my wrist on the computer and must activate some key combination that results in disabling the keyboard for any typing in any program. The short keys for copy and save etc still work, so do the function keys, the pad (if active) and the mouse. The only way I found to fix it is to reboot the computer. Thus far I tried to recreate this under controlled conditions with no success. Anybody can help me? Even if it makes me fill totally stupid? Please?

I've got one of these Logitech mouse/keyboard wireless combis. Last night the keyboard started playing up. Hitting either the T or V keys types both characters. Its the same with C or E and N and U. Other keys cause windows to open, among other random happenings. Rather annoying as some of these characters are in my log on password. If I did not have the Wacom on screen keyboard at startup I would have been up the creek. Running Vista Home Premium. I have changed batteries, and tonight I will try it with a bog-standard keyboard. if this is ok I suppose its time to ditch the Logitech and get a new one. Just wandered if anyone had any ideas.

After a good coffee spill, mopped rinsed and wiped away from a veteran Cherry keyboard, the same double key standards applied. Fortunately this keyboard can be dismantled to the point where separate laminations could be thoroughly dried. But then a veteran like you would notice the wet splash ...... wouldn't you???

Hey guys, anyone have this problem or can shed some light..........

have just taken possession of a new computer, HP Pavillion, running Win8.1 in the last 2 weeks...............

all seems to be working fine except for some minor irritations............. one being punctuation

If I attempt to use either an apostrophe or quotation marks ( ' ) ( " ).... it blanks, nothing on screen, tap the key again and it doubles up "" ...........

I've also noticed I cannot [click] quote and add someone elses comment to my own post on forums............ so is this all an IE problem or is it just me....

any suggestions on a postcard welcome,

Rogues
