Kaspersky Lab Presents a New Version of Kaspersky Small Office Security 4

Question: Kaspersky Lab Presents a New Version of Kaspersky Small Office Security 4

Kaspersky Lab Presents a New Version of Kaspersky Small Office Security to Reflect Modern Needs of Small Business
Kaspersky Lab announces its latest edition of the Kaspersky Small Office Security, the company?s security solution built specifically for businesses with fewer than 25 employees. This solution provides world-class protection and easy use without the need for specialist IT skills. New features make it easier to focus valuable resources on running and developing the business while keeping operations, customer?s and employee?s data secure.

Nowadays, small businesses are frequently becoming prey for cybercriminals because they generally pay less attention for cybersecurity while housing increasingly valuable data. According to recent survey results, the share of companies that allow usage of personal employee?s devices within the corporate network has grown to 62% in 2014. At the same time, although businesses realize that customer?s personal information (25%), payment requisites (13%) and trade secrets (12%) are among top priorities of their information security needs, they keep taking very basic protective measures, relying, for example, on free anti-malware products. Respondents indicated that they desire a powerful, but simple and easy-to-use security solution that would come at an affordable price.

Kaspersky Small Office Security is equipped with enterprise-grade technologies, but it was designed specifically to serve the needs of very small businesses. It brings the power of the award-winning anti-malware and online transactions protection, cloud management, backup and password management, in an easy-to-use manner that is demanded by this segment.

?Running a small business can be very exciting and fun, but being small doesn?t mean being less noticeable by cybercriminals. It?s very important for businesses to pay more attention to ensuring their cybersecurity, and Kaspersky Small Office Security has made it easy. It?s straightforward to install, simple to configure, and easy to maintain, so that business owners can get on with doing what they do best: making the company a success,? said Konstantin Voronkov, Head of Endpoint Product Management, Kaspersky Lab.

The latest version of Kaspersky Small Office Security includes several brand new and improved features, such as:
Enhanced protection from all known, unknown and advanced threats ? with multi-layered, enterprise-quality protection for Windows and Mac computers, servers and Android-based mobile devices.
A new cloud-based management console ? that lets business owners or their IT advisers easily manage IT security and devices from anywhere, using web browser.
New cloud-based password management ? that stores critical company login details and enables users to have a different, unique password for every secure site, across all devices, while only needing to remember one master-password.
Security for financial data ? that protects online business and personal transactions from financial fraud. This includes improvements to the award-winning ?Safe Money? module.
Kaspersky Small Office Security protects Windows-based (Windows XP through Windows 8.1) or Mac-based desktops/notebooks, Windows file servers, and Android smartphones and tablets. Each user/employee gets protection for one Windows or Mac computer and one mobile device plus Kaspersky Password Manager. File Server protection is added based on the number of protected users. Kaspersky Small Office Security is sold in preset license packages up to 25 employees.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Anti-cryptor capabilities in System Watcher component block malicious encryption attempts, and also triggers an automatic backup and restore.

The Safe Money feature within Kaspersky Small Office Security provides improved safeguarding of financial transactions from fraudsters, by protecting against the taking of screen grabs or use of the clipboard functionality, which cybercriminals typically rely on to steal business data and financial assets.

The new version of Kaspersky Small Office Security also provides small businesses a way to monitor their security status. Through a dedicated, cloud-based monitoring console, businesses have a single view of the protection status of all devices on their network ? from PCs and laptops, through to file servers and mobile devices. Windows 10 64 Pro Anniversary Build Latest Update
Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 Latest Update
No other RealTime security software.

My portable programs SecurMyBit, VidCoder, etc... were under "Low Restricted" in Application Control.
I move them to "Trusted" in AC.
After couple of days, the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".
When I run the programs, they appear under "Low Restricted" And I again move them to "Trusted" But after couple of days the same mentioned above i.e the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".

Is it a bug or bug on Windows 10 64 or bug in KIS 2017 or ............?

Any info?

Any Kaspersky users experience the above?

Answer:Kaspersky Application Control - Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 bug?

Yes, this happens & not only in 2017 but in earlier versions as well.

I experience it as well, but not quite often as you are. Mine comes when i am disconnected from internet for a while & then connect again, then (i guess) KSN checks the app control rules again & places them (apps) as described in the KSN rule-set.

The problem come from the setting 'Load rule for applications from KSN' in application control, which is enabled by default.

This shouldn't be a problem if you are using default settings (Auto-mode) as Low restricted is basically Trusted in auto-mode. But if you use interactive mode, this causes a lot of prompts which can be quite annoying.

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security vs. Kaspersky AntiVirus

Considering you don't respect us (the forum posters) with your AOL style of posting. I don't know why I am answering your question.

Knowing Kaspersky Anti-Virus history of false positives. I would stay away from the Internet Security and find another solution such as Outpost firewall.

I’m curious as to why the 3 user version is cheaper than the 1 user version.
I’ve noticed that very often they are either the same price, or in some instances noticeably cheaper (I’ve just seen the 3 user version at £15 less at my local Staples than the 1 user version right next to it!) Is there a catch?

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security - Why is the 3 user version often cheaper?

It is worthwhile shopping around but make sure that you are comparing the same product eg 2012 or 2013, or Antivirus or Security Suite. There is no catch as far as I am aware.
BTW Amazon may well be cheaper.

My Norton 360 Version 1.0 is up for renewal shortly. I really need to know the bottomline... the final verdict on KIS 2009 vs Norton 360 v 3.0

I've heard a lot of good things about Norton 360 Version 3.0. But then again, Kaspersky Internet Suite looks appealing too...

I don't really need the 2 GB online storage that Norton 360 includes. So, excluding that particular feature, how do the two measure up?
Everyone I ask seem to have a bad opinion of Norton based on their past products (including Norton 360 v.1 & 2).

I agree Norton was a bit of a clunker of sorts in the past. But I would like to know if Norton 360 v.3.0 (the latest, lighter version) specifically is better than KIS 2009. I've narrowed my needs down to just these two suites. Its one or the other, whichever is better.

So, I ask you...
a) Which is the better internet security suite?
b) Does Norton 360 Version 3.0 have right-click/on-demand, folder/file virus scan functionality?

Help?

I thought I was just installing more updates from Kaspersky Internet Security when this program broke down my computer and turned off my antivirus protection.

I had to read through the terms and conditions and I guess I did not read them quite well enough.

It slowed down my computer and made it completely dis-functional.

When I turned it on in safe mode and ran a spyware scan on Malwarebytes, it showed about 23 objects infecting my p.c. when previously there were none. It provided me with a long list of malicious objects to delete.

I attempted to re-install my Kaspersky protection which had about 111 more days left on it.

It would not let me re-install it and claimed there was a problem with the license.

I felt stupid giving my permission for that new program to get on my computer. I was mislead because the dialogue box was identical to the one that's supposed to belong to Kaspersky.  Unless I'm mistaken, I think this was a virus masquerading as a new version of Kaspersky Virus protection.  I tried to get support from Kaspersky and got no help from them.

When my attempts to re-install Kaspersky did not help, I installed free Norton protection for 30 days.

I could not find any reports about anything like this on the web.

Answer:What looked like an updated version of Kaspersky Internet Security broke down pc

You don't want to run more than one active antivirus as it can cause falsepositives and make your computer unstable.

Please post the Malwarebytes log.  To find your Malwarebytes log, download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop.

To open the log double click on mbam-check.exe on your desktop.  When the log opens, scroll down toward the bottom of the log to Quarantined Items.  Copy and paste this in your next post.

Hi, really sorry if this is the wrong place or the wrong kind of forum to ask these kind of questions (alot of you guys seem like pros haha)

My Kaspersky AV licence is up and i'm looking at buying Total Security for another year and saw on Kaspersky website this new software they are calling Kaspersky Security cloud. The page for my knowledge is a little vague and it just looks kind of like Total Security repackaged.

Is there any crucial differences in KTS and this new Security cloud that would benefit me buying that instead?

Thanks for your time

Answer:Kaspersky Total Security or Kaspersky Security Cloud

Are you referring to Endpoint Security Cloud? If so it's for business customers only. If you're referring to something else could you please link to it.

If you're happy with KTS then I see no reason why you shouldn't renew it.

As far as I know, the main difference is that KAV does not have Application Control, but Kaspersky Internet Security does.
Does this make a big difference in protection?
I am asking because I want to combo Kaspersky with an app that has a HIPS component, so I need to use KAV rather than KIS.

Answer:how good Internet Security Kaspersky AntiVirus, as compared to Kaspersky Internet Security?

Application control and Trusted Applications Mode are a great additional layer of protection. Which app do you want to add to Kaspersky? IMO KIS would be the best. TAM is really great.

Source - Windows 7 Kaspersky Lab releases technical preview of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7 Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces the release of a technical prototype of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7.
Windows 7 is the next release of the Microsoft Windows operating system which will replace Windows Vista and is a step forward in the development of Microsoft operating systems. The new OS will incorporate enhanced reliability, greater efficiency, an improved interface and extended working features both in global and local information networks.
The technical preview is a complex solution for securing computers running under Windows 7. The prototype includes not only an antivirus component but an effective and fully functional firewall and anti-spam filter.
At the heart of the new technical prototype is Kaspersky Lab?s new antivirus engine which is even more effective at detecting malicious programs than its predecessor. The new engine dramatically increases system scanning speed thanks to improved processing of objects and optimized use of system resources, particularly on dual- and quad-core processor platforms. The unique product architecture ensures high productivity and one of the lowest uses of system resources in the industry.
The technical preview includes a highly effective heuristic analyzer. The heuristic analyzer detects and blocks as yet unknown malicious programs. If a program signature is not included ... Read more

If you cannot or are unable to uninstall Karpersky AntiVirus, Kasperky Internet security or any other Kaspersky security software, you can download and use Kaspersky Products Remover.
Kaspersky Products Remover will fully uninstall any Kaspersky software from your Windows computer. It will even delete all activation data from your system.
Once you have downloaded the tool from here, reboot your computer in Safe Mode and run the tool. Select the Kaspersky product you wish to ununstall. It will safely and completely remove the Kaspersky Lab security software from your Windows PC.
If you are using some other security software that you want to uninstall completely, have a look at this post on AntiVirus Removal Tools & Uninstallers for popular AntiVirus programs.

Answer:buying full kaspersky version, do i need to unistall trial version?

If you already have the trial version of the Kaspersky product you want to buy, you can leave it installed and enter the licence key to activate it, simple as that. However, if you buy an edition different than the one you have in trial, then you'll need to uninstall the trial edition and install the edition you'll buy.

Alright, here goes. Some of you may know that I currently use Emsisoft Anti-Malware to secure 7-8 PCs/Notebooks and 1 server. I like the behavior blocker and the fact, that there's not much fuzz being made about milking businesses. Even the regular version will run just fine on servers technically, it is basically only a license issue.

That said, sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side. So I've been browsing Kaspersky's offerings for a bit and a few points leave me puzzled.

There seem to be several tiers for businesses and Kaspersky Small Office Security appears to basically be the consumer product with a different skin. Yes, the Scurity for Kids is called Web Controls instead, but that's about it. There is some management tacked on, but it is very rudimentary and only covers the most basic settings. On the other hand, it is way more expensive than the consumer products.
Am I right assuming that it's really the same product as far as the functionality is concerned?
KIS/KTS don't have a server software listed in the compatibility section. This could mean it's not wanted and hence not supported. Or is it hardcoded, so it won't even install no matter what?
What's the major difference between the regular and the cloud products? They list some modules like Anti-Spam / Password Manager / etc. that are either there or not, which isn't what concerns me. I'd love to know if the security functionality/quality di... Read more

hi gents
i want to know the difference between kaspersky antivirus and kaspersky free . and what about this combo(KFA+ZAM premium+APPcheck free)+Malwarebyte antimalware on demand scanner . is KAV has antiphsing protection ??

Answer:Difference between Kaspersky Free and Kaspersky Antivirus

the only difference between KAV and KAF is that KAV has system watcher = behavior blocker. system watcher is one of the most powerful weapons of kaspersky that's why they charge you for that
they both have phishing protection

your combo looks OK to me. I can recommend that
but I don't agree with Malwarebytes because it seems redundant to me. zemana as the second opinion scanner is sufficient enough. It's realtime protection is different from its on-demand scanner. You will get better result with on-demand scanning than the realtime protection

Hey guys, I just want to complain to all the Kaspersky makers. First of all, Kaspersky 2009 takes forever to scan, like Literally! Compared to other anti-viruses and Internet Security, I used to be a loyal Kaspersky user from 6.0 to 7.0, but now you see when I upgraded to 2009 when it came out, everything changed which is ridiculous. Like I said, Scanning takes like forever which could take a week or something just to get finished if I full scan. Hell, Quick-scan even lags the heck out of my computer and takes hours to finish(OMG).
Now I know it's not my computer's problem like most of you would say. I have a pretty decent high-end custom-built computer that's really still better than most Home users have and I'm using an Intel Quad Core Q6600, 4GB(2xgb of Dual Channel) Corsair RAM DDR2-800(PC2-6400). My Video card is really good too because it's a GeForce 8800GTX, which is still good still.

Anyways i just want to point out that i seriously don't know why Kaspersky 2009 all of a sudden slow. The MAIN PROBLEM is that I left my computer just last night and it's stuck at 22% because I decided you know what, I might as well stop my scanning because it's taking up SO MANY RESOURCES! I mean for Crying out loud! But you see, when I stopped the scanning it lags my whole computer so I had to restart my computer improperly and hit the reset button because Kaspersky got issues since it wouldn't stop the scan and would probably take hou... Hi,

My PC's been "playing up" for a couple of months now.
Pages freezing, links not working, etc..
I thought, like me, it was getting old!

I'm still running 98SE on a P3 with NIS2006, IE6, etc.

Earlier I did a Kaspersky online scan which found a virus,
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.dlw, in C:\ProgramFiles\NortonInternetSecurity\NortonAntiVirus\Quarantine\38A809A9.exe .
I don't know how to remove it .

When I ran Kaspersky I left my NIS ON which I probably shouldn't have done. I'm now in the process of a Kaspersky rescan with my NIS disabled.

Has your 30-day trial expired, and you're looking for a 6 months license for proper use? I have found that within a several days (or few hours) of usage, that you can determine whether you're going to keep or uninstall the software. Unfortunately, I haven't any spare.

I have used Kaspersky anti virus personal version 5 for a year and have been satisfied with it.
Last week I upgraded to version 6 when I renewed. Version 6 will cause my IE pages to hang. For example, if I open a new session of IE it will never get to my start yahoo page. Other web pages will not open either. If I exit (shut down) Kaspersky, my web pages will then open, but that defeats the purpose of having an anti virus.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what settings I could change (either on IE or Kaspersky ) so that it will accept IE web pages? Has anyone else had this problem with Kaspersky anti virus version 6?

The installation was done on a Toshiba laptop about a year old.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Running Kaspersky Internet version on my PC - 2 GB of memory. AVP seems to always be active, taking up some of the processing; not a lot - 2-3%. PC always seems to be at high 90's idle (in task manager).

I've used autorun to find out what is loading. Nothing stands out as being a culprit.

I was wondering if anyone else has experience with Kapersky software. If so, does it tend to slow processing much? I know that it seems to slow down FireFox when it loads.

I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, trial version, and it is working good for now, so I am planning to purchase full version. I will wait till trial version expires so I can use it one month more . So I wanted to ask is there any difference between trial and full version, and if there is, I will purchase full version immediately.

With Regards,

George

Answer:Kaspersky full and trial version

For a free trial version, enter your email address and we'll send you a download that will expire 30 days after you install it. When you're ready to purchase a full license, just click the Buy Now link in the product and purchase a license in our online Store.Free 30-Day Trial Kaspersky Internet Security 2011From their description it appears there is no difference. Hi,

I'm running 98SE on a P3.

Recently I've been having problems; freezing, slow running, etc., all the usual symptons.

I use Norton Internet Security 2005 with regular downloaded updates.

I've scanned my PC using the current Norton AV, plus both Spybot and AdAware.
AdAware & Spybot found malware, which was quarantined.

However, my PC was still unstable so I tried an online Panda scan, again nothing.

It wasn't until I did an online Kaspersky scan that a virus was picked up.
Kaspersky found, "Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.dlw" in C:\ProgramFiles\NortonInternet\Security\NortonAntiVirus\Quarantine\38A809A9.exe.

Can someone out there help me get rid of this??

Many thanks in advance,

Carol

Answer:Trojan-downloader.win32.small.dlw Found By Kaspersky Online Scan!

Hello ceb83The Kaspersky scan flagged the Trojan-Downloader in the quarantined area of NAV as shown by the path location you gave. When a progam quarantines a file or moves it into a virus vault, it is safely held there under you take action to delete it. The reason for doing this is to prevent deletion of an essential file that may have been flagged as a "false positive". You could then restore the file. Doing this also allows you to view and investigate the files while keeping them from harming your computer. Thus, Quarantine is just an extra safety measure. You can launch NAV and delete that file so it will not be detected again.Another good anti-malware program you can use on Win 9x is SUPERAntiSypware free for Home Users which you can download here.Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe to install and use the default settings for installation.Run SUPERAntiSypware and update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Udates".When done, select "Scan for Harmful Software".There are three scanning options available. Choose "Perform Complete Scan" and click "Next".When done, a Scan Summary will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".Place a checkmark next to items you wish to remove/quarantine and Click "Next".A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the... Read more

Hello.

Firstly thanks in advance for your time.

My machine, an old compaq armada e500 isn't very fast but lately it's got very slow. Also at times there seems to a lot of disk activity when I'm not actually doing anything. The Task Manager shows System Idle in the high 90 % yet the disk is whirring away like crazy.

Protection installed asfollows:

Comodo firewall
AVG anti- virus
Ad-aware
Spybot search & destroy
Superantispyware

I update and run these fairly regularly and also run CCleaner

I ran an online scan with Kaspersky and it showed

D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\MyStuff\Downloads\SpySweeper\ssf-snr-a-setup481.exe/file13 Infected: Trojan-Clicker.Win32.Small.tl skipped

D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\MyStuff\Downloads\SpySweeper\ssf-snr-a-setup481.exe Inno: infected - 1 skipped

and

D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\MyStuff\Downloads\Zonealarm\KYLG\FamilyKeyLogger\cisvc.exe Infected: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.FamilyKeyLogger.230 skipped

Spysweeper, I can't recall downloading or installing tho' it's possible I did or my son did.

Keylogger I did install and uninstalled quite a long time ago.

I have followed the pre-post steps.

Recently I surprisingly found out that Kaspersky announces a free version with limited functionality, and it is in Chinese only(correct me if I was wrong), and if the product is activated outside mainland China it prompts an error, but this can be solved by using a proxy server (good luck guys tryin' to read those characters), the link is here:

??????? Kaspersky Free

There are several commons and differences to Kaspersky Antivirus:
-Pros:
1. You will get full and newest signature update(unlike 360 using Avira and Bitdefender engine it uses the signature released 9 DAYS AGO) and you are connected to KSN so nice cloud protection;
2. Four components are fully usable: File Antivirus, Web Antivirus, IM Antivirus and Mail Antivirus;
3. Very decent protection against known and recent (about and more than 1 week) threats;
4. Very light weight as the only resource consuming component is File Antivirus;
5. The main application is as well up to date(2017) and will automatically be updated.
-Cons:
1. lol I cannot read Chinese (jokes) but yeh this is not very good
2. No technical support;
3. No application control so computer data is vulnerable to new ransomware;
4. No system watcher, system is vulnerable against zero day threat;
5. No Internet Security feature (firewall and network attack blocker) so system is vulnerable against port scans, DoS attack and intrusion activities.

It works like that, when you install it you will have to activate it manually to get a 36... Read more

Powerful removal utility that will help you easily get rid of various types of malware!

AVZ Antiviral Toolkit is a freeware application designed by Kaspersky to delete adware and spyware modules, network worms, trojan horses (Trojan, TrojanDownloader, TrojanSpy) and Dialers. The utility implements specialized algorithms for detecting keyloggers, finding and blocking rootkits etc.

AVZ Antiviral Toolkit is a comprehensive security solution that comes with tons of tools designed to help you keep the computer in perfect shape and protect it against malicious files.

Besides the fact that it?s able to scan your drives and detect viruses, adware, spyware, dialers and other risky tools, AVZ Antiviral Toolkit comes packed with so many great apps that it?s almost impossible not to stay away from virtual threats.

For example, AVZ Antiviral Toolkit has a process manager to give you control over the running processes, but also special searching utilities to have a look in the registry or into your cookies.

Of course, there?s a dedicated feature to manage the programs that boot together with the operating system, as well as tiny tools to organize IE extensions and control panel applets.

But AVZ Antiviral Toolkit has much more than that, although the whole application relies on the scanning process that could let you know if there?s something wrong with your computer.

I have a Dell Inspiron 580 windows 7 x64 I had kaspersky 2011 and bought the renewal/update of kaspersky 2013. installed kaspersky 2013 without uninstalling 2011, seemed fine, rebooted, got the blue screen of death. My computer would then only start up in safe mode (not even safe mode with networking). I did a system restore. Did the uninstall of kaspersky 2011 was prompted to reboot, blue screen of death, system restore. After the system restore I ran the report utility they said I should run and it came up with 1 file as incompatible with the software ApnToolbarInstaller.exe -the Ask toolbar. The program doesn't show under the uninstall window, it doesn't show as an addon for firefox, explorer, or chrome. BUT if I follow the location of where the utility says it is I can find the file in it's folder. However I can't uninstall it from there, can't even open in. I tried Revo uninstaller and it doesn't show up there either. I tried Microsoft Fixit. To uninstall something it doesn't seem to know is there it seems to need the product code. I don't know how to get that for the Ask toolbar. I tried it to uninstall the old Kaspersky with Fixit and had to do the same blue screen system restore dance. How do I get this thing out of my computer? How do I make Kaspersky work? please and thank you

The kaspersky would make a big deal bringing the free version for Brazil, it quickly dominate the market here, here ah many users of their paid versions, and certainly if it launched its free version in Portuguese would win quickly Avast and AVG free.
I hope they launch Kaspersky free to Brazil

Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 cannot provide continual computer protection. At the end of computer disinfection, the program should be deleted from the computer and substituted by full-scale anti-virus software.
Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 does not have a function to update its antivirus database. The only way to actualize the tool is to download it again from Kaspersky Lab servers and install it. It is also necessary to uninstall older version of Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 before installing a newer one.

The program is launched without installation.
To remove the program, you now have to close the main program widow. As a result all traces of the program?s existence in the system are automatically deleted.
The program can now be started from a removable or network drive.
New user-friendly interface.
Improved compatibility with Kaspersky Lab products.

Kaspersky Lab Used by Russia as a Tool to Spy on the U.S.

Recent reports by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post detail Kaspersky Lab?s connections to the Russian government.

Software from Russian-based Kaspersky Lab has been used to steal sensitive and classified National Security Agency (NSA) data from an NSA contractor?s personal computer, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The 2015 hack apparently happened when the contractor took the data from the NSA and loaded it onto his computer, which contained Kaspersky antivirus software. Allegedly, the software enabled Russian hackers to see his files. The hack has not been disclosed by the government, noted the Wall Street Journal.

The Washington Post reported that the contractor, a U.S. citizen born in Vietnam, worked for the division of the NSA that creates tools to break into computers overseas for the purpose of gathering intelligence. The employee, who was sacked in 2015, probably did not take the materials for malicious purposes such as handing them to a foreign spy agency, The Washington Post noted.

A New York Times article details how Israeli intelligence officers looked on in real time as Russian government hackers searched computers for the code names of American intelligence programs.

Interestingly, neither the Wall Street Journal nor the Washington Post addressed the issue of why the employee took classified information home on his laptop.

hello , i just want to know in Behavior Blocker , Norton is better? or Kaspersky is better ?

thanks friends

Answer:[Behavior Blocker] Norton Security vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

As for Kaspersky, I have not used it since about 2009 when it was Kaspersky PURE so I cannot really comment. But as for Norton, it blocks unknown files it doesn't have a HIPS as such but any program being stupid of trying to access websites and files they shouldn't get blocked by SONAR their zero-day and zero-hour malware component.

Earlier I was using Bitdefender and thought Bitdefender was the number 1 and Kaspersky is the number 2. But After coming to this forum I realized that the reality is completely different! Some products have trouble working with Windows 10, some have trouble protecting 64bit systems. I did some digging and settled with two products. Kaspersky and ESET. Im using a Windows 10 64 bit system. What product might be the best for such a setup?

Answer:ESET Smart Security 9 vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 for Win 10 64bit

For purely protection basis you may go to ESET SS 9 as you can tweak the HIPS for protection and their Sandbox (Banking) + so far the architecture (x64) isn't affected from performance.

KIS 2016 is a promising suite, however until now limited components working from prevention due to Windows 10 environment which the developers make a note to fix those issues; but overall a balance concept where you can tweak more from numerous components.

Somehow the system impact tends to be consistent as light for ESET than Kaspersky.

Still brace yourself to see those possible unique characteristics.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is a capable product which delivers everything you?d expect from a security suite: antivirus, firewall, browsing protection, a spam filter and more. The technology scores highly with the independent testing labs, too, so we were interested to see what the new build had to offer.

Installation was quick and easy. Unlike some of the competition, you?re not forced to remove anything else vaguely security-related: Kaspersky warns you about possible conflicts, but whether you uninstall any problem programs is up to you.

The interface looks a little different to previous editions -- lighter, more subdued -- but it feels very similar. Four large buttons give access to key areas (Scan, Update, Safe Money, Parental Control), and links give one-click access to your settings and a list of other tools. It?s all very straightforward, and even newcomers to Kaspersky should quickly find what they need.

We did have a few issues with the initial setup, with for example our spam filter being turned off by default. Fortunately this wasn?t difficult to spot, or fix: click Settings > Protection Center, every protective layer is listed, and you?re able to disable or enable them with a click. It only took a few moments, and we were ready for testing.

Antivirus
Kaspersky cloud-assisted antivirus technology is highly rated by independent testing labs, and it?s not difficult to see why. As we write, AV-Test?s latest reports show the Kaspersky 2014 d... Read more

Question: Kaspersky Security

I have a spare laptop that I use to test how well antivirus/internet security products work. Lately, I have been putting Kaspersky's products to the test against real malware. The vast majority of malware that Kaspersky misses I will submit to their virus lab for analysis. I was floored when some major threats it didn't detect contained no malicious code, according to the virus lab. Other vendors such as AVG, McAfee, Trend Micro, etc. all find these threats Kaspersky says has no malicious code a threat. How can this be??? I don't feel very safe using it now after hearing all this...

Answer:Kaspersky Security

Welcome to the world of anti-malware software - they are all so very different in some respects. This is why you never rely on a scan from one single product. You should always have some layered approach.

Just to clarify, you said

Quote:
some major threats it didn't detect contained no malicious code

Is that a typo error? If something contains no malicious code, then it can't be a major threat, and therefore Kaspersky has no reason to detect it.

Golden

My current AV is about to expire so it's time to purchase another year of protection.  I've been running Norton Security with good results but am wondering if I should switch.  Norton as you know is not included in the AV Comparatives but of the paid for choices Kaspersky is rated highly.

Can anyone help me decide if I should continue with Norton or make the jump to Kaspersky?

Also Amazon has prior year versions of Norton and Kaspersky available for substantial savings.

Will these prior year versions automatically update to the current version when installed?

Answer:Norton Security Deluxe vs Kaspersky Internet Security

Although Norton (Symantec) is as good as any other well known anti-virus program, it is costly, requires numerous services and running processes that consume system resources and often results in complaints of high CPU usage. Anti-virus software components insert themselves deep into the operating systems core where they install kernel mode drivers that load at boot-up and create files/folders/registry entries in various locations.I have read from other users that Norton has made improvements in newer versions of their software so they are not as resource heavy as past versions...while others still say differently. Those issues plus the cost factor are the primary reason many folks look for a free alternative. IMO, Norton is better utilized in an Enterprise system environment protecting many client computers. With that said, there are a lot of folks who prefer using Norton (especially if it came preinstalled) and there is nothing wrong with staying with a product you are satisfied with.Norton Security Standard, Deluxe and Premium (formerly Norton Internet Security) are suites which means they include additional features in addition to anti-virus protection. Some of those extra features will also consume resources and affect performance. I'm on a dilemma here. Was planning to leave Avast Free behind and choose from a paid suite.

Norton Security Standard (lastest version)
Kaspersky Internet Security (lastest version)

What would you recommend for home use and advanced knowledge? Thanks!

Aditional notes:
Chosen product will be on max settings
Will use the suite firewall (on max settings)
Will be used along with VodooShield and HitmanPro.Alert

Answer:Norton Security Standard vs Kaspersky Internet Security

Both are fantastic products, both will give you a very good protection for home use. If you are more advanced user, go for Kaspersky. Norton is more "install and forget", it's less customizable.

I am looking for some help and advice from my fellow forum members. I'm currently using Zone Alarm Internet Security and it's due to expire in 30 days. I've been thinking about changing to either Kaspersky Internet Security or ESET Smart Security for a number of reasons.

Firstly, both products seem to offer excellent independent anti virus products. Secondly, I prefer whole integrated suites and I know one of the criticisms is the large memory and CPU consumption that they use. However, these two products seem to have a relatively small memory footprint.

I was just wondering if anybody had used either of these products and how they found them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have been persuaded to use Kaspersky and am awaiting download. Do I have to remove Sec Essentials before installing Kasp ?

Answer:MS Security Essential and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

Yes, it's better to remove any other antivirus prior to install a new one. Reason is that two active antivirus scanning the system at the same time may conflict between them and unnecessarily slow down your system.

Always have only one antivirus doing on-access system scanning. Keeping MSE or anything else just for on-demand scans is fine.

hi.i just purchased kaspersky internet security 7 and i was wondering if i should aslo download adaware or does kis provide enough protection.

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 7

No single product is 100% foolproof and can detect and remove all threats at any given time. The security community is in a constant state of change as new malware infections appear. Each vendor has its own definition of what constitutes spyware and scanning your computer using different criteria will yield different results. The fact that each program has its own definition files means that some malware may be picked up by one that could be missed by another. Thus, a multi-layered defense using several anti-spyware products (including an effective firewall) to supplement your anti-virus provides the most complete protection.Instead of Ad-aware, I would recommend using SUPERAntiSpyware Free. The free version does not run in real-time mode...a purchased upgrade to the "Professional" version is required before this option can be activated. See Free vs Pro Comparison Features.

Has anyone here tried Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0? I've just popped to aria computers to pick up some ram for Bex's PC (~22 for 2x256 DDR3700) and saw this for less around 8.

It was an OEM version of course, but if it is much better than AVG I can't really complain. I didn't get it, but may do when I next go back. It appears to be their normal AV plus a firewall and a few other things.

From what I've heard it is one of the best, but if anyone here has some experience please do let me know

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0

Ady has just finished an eval of KAV, but I'm not sure of the version. We are both on NOD32 for now.

KAV Internet Security 6 has had some very good reports ... catching 100% of almost everything thrown at it ... it's an "all-in-one" package, and, it will slow-down a less-than-up-to-date PC ... it does a lot of real-time checks, a bonus in my book.

I keep hyping on about AVG, it really is a very slow AV when it comes to updating to new in-the-wild nasties ... good AVs should be able to update several times a day, and KAV will do that every 3 hours.

If you would be a good sport, go get me a copy ... I'll pop a check in the post.

I'm looking to upgrade to KIS, i would like to know does KIS update itself silently in the background?. does it bombard you with take action messages all the time?

My system is Dual Core 2.40 GHz and 3GB of RAM, will KIS slow down my PC?

What is the best version of KIS to get for Vista? - 09, 10 or 11?

How would you guys rate KIS overall?

Thanks

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security

Hello draven,

I have had KIS since '09. 2009 was good, 2010 really dropped the ball. I just upgraded to 11 last week. I have a Vista and upgrades were smooth until today. New patch issue. KIS just runs itself in the background if you set it to auto. (default) Updates, blocks etc. but it lets you know what it has done.

PC mag gave 11.0.1.400 great ratings on firewall, anti-virus protection, parental controls but it lacks great virus removal tools. Go with the 11. They have a trial version on their site. Try it free for 30 days, I believe.

Hi all.

I recently reloaded Kaspersky AV v7, but during the process KAV said it wasn't compatible with Comodo firewall. So, I ended up uninstalling Comodo to install KAV. I was going to try reinstalling Comodo, but first I wanted to check with folks to see if anyone is using Kaspersky Internet Suite, KIS, which has a firewall. I was thinking of switching from KAV to KIS. I read one review saying that the Kaspersky firewall is one of the best out there. Anyone have any experience with it? Anyone else running KAV and Comodo? Thanks.

Answer:Anyone using Kaspersky Internet Security v7?

Hi, I tried Kasperski online and I must say it discovered virusses that my Norton did not found. It looks like it is a great anti-virus scanner.I don't know about the firewall. One thing I know is that I switched off my windows firewall because Norton has one imbedded and this works out well. So buy Kasperski with firewall if you want.

Hello to all,

today saw a commercial about Kaspersky Security Cloud. Was thinking whaaaattt...??!!

So today reinstalled Windows 10 64bit clean on a new GPT EFI Dynamic Drive and must say, that thing is snappy.

Kaspersky Version 18.0.0.405(b)

The interface and features feel allot like the Internet Security 2017 but allot more smooth.

My Question to you all here in the Community is how do you think about it?

My Security config. changed again. Will post a new one soon.

Best regards
Val.

I have tried Recover my files, but it doesnot have peach-tree file extension as part of the files it can recover. Someone please help

Answer:kaspersky internet security

I don't think they'll both work on your computer, try to keep only one if you want to save your PC from crashing.
I wouldn't use Kaspersky anyway.

I have Norton Antivirus, Malwarebytes, ccleaner & Spyware Blaster on my Windows 7 Pro desktop computer, but, on my new Lenovo laptop I installed Kaspersky Total Security and even though it says "Total", I don't know if I should have any of the other malware programs that I have on the desktop installed on the laptop?  Thank you

Answer:Do I Need More Than Kaspersky Total Security?

1) Kaspersky is, in my opinion one of the top av options (I've been using it on all of my systems for many years). I only use KAV, but Total Security is an excellent choice!2) In addition to Kaspersky you should do a manual scan with MalwareBytes every once in a while (once a month, anyway). 3) It's a good idea to have SpywareBlaster and manually updated it every week or so.4) ccleaner is not  a malware utility. 5) I also use WinPatrol - but that's a personal choice.More important than any of the above is "smart computing": Don't visit "questionable" websites, don't download anything unless you are certain it is safe, ditto opening email attachments, don't let anyone else use your account or the admin account on your computer, etc.

I've tried many AVs over the years. Switched them to try out different brands (AV addiction disease). I finally settled on KTS. It works for me on what I need. Here is what I use to have:

-Free AV
-LastPass
-Acronis Backup
-True Crypt

What I use now:

-KTS 2018
-Kaspersky Password Manager
-Kaspersky Backup
-Kaspersky Encryption

The reason why I switched to KTS is, I wanted an all-in-one product. It felt weird having multiple apps running doing different things. I thought to myself, some AV has to have close to perfected multiple systems (password, backup, encryption, etc). I looked and looked and finally settled on KTS. I find that most of the extra features are very polished. For example:

Backup: Works wonderfully. Never has failed. I backup to a local drive and every time I check on its progress, I never see any error. I use to use Acronis. Acronis was difficult to understand. I had problems figuring out how to make it delete old archived backups. It would just never work. Kaspersky backup works every time and uses little space and properly deletes old backup data. Acronis always wanted more money every year to upgrade to its lastest and greatest version

Encryption: I couldn't find a simpler way to do encryption, especially with a built-in feature inside an AV. You create something called a 'container'. Think of it like a folder. Once created, all you do is double-click on the file, enter a password, then BAAM...it opens so you can see the contents... Read more

Answer:i have kaspersky internet security 6.0 i need help

Security suites use a lot of system resources so it is normal to slow down the computer. Also,if you have Vista, security will be tighter. Try going into the settings and reduce the security level down one level and check the firewall settings and unblock the websites you want to go to. Another option is to switch to NOD32 antivirus. I don't have the problems you mentioned.

Hi,
So I was told to use this scanner called Kaspersky Security Scan FREE to scan my PC, I was told that it has the same detection rate as the paid Kaspersky antivirus but minus the real time protection.etc (BTW is Norton better than Kaspersky for detection rate?)

I was told this is a great portable scanner.

Does this really have the same detection rate has the same one? If so thats so cool! I heard Kaspersky is one of the best!

Thanks

PS: I have Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes + Avast, I am a bit paranoid so I want some temporary scanners, I am thinking of downloading Zemana + Kaspersky Security Scanner, I have heard good things about Norton Power Eraser but bad things about Norton as a company, should I trust Norton power eraser? IS there anything else I should download?

Thanks for your time

Answer:Kaspersky Security Scan?

Use HitmanPro instead, it packs both Bitdefender and Kaspersky signature databases. It is technically a paid product, but you can legally use it forever if you select "I just want to scan my PC once".
About NPE, it is an agressive scanner and shouldn't be used regularly unless you suspect that your PC is infected.

Did you got to the site and use their removal tool???  If not you may have to reinstall then use the tool, AV software can be quite hard to remove especially without the proper tool.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry if this has been answered before but I did not come across it. Anyways, I am using Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 and I am new at using this product.

We have messenger APP called SLACK and it is being blocked by KASPERSKY. I have added programs into the trusted location already but SLACK is not in the usual program location. The Slack app stores data in both %LocalAppData% and %AppData%. So what path am I using for the app location? Is it %ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application Data\Roaming\Slack? Or something entirely different.

Thanks for the help!!!

I have a nine year old pc (Windows XP Home) with KIS 2012. The subscription has almost run out and I want to buy another copy of KIS 2012 and put it on my pc instead of KIS 2013, because it is much cheaper and I am worried that KIS 2013 will slow my old pc down. Can I do this? If so, will I have to remove the existing copy of KIS 2012 from my pc before uploading the new copy from the cd/dvd, or can I just put in the new activation code?

Answer:Kaspersky internet security

Why not just use a free one such as Avast or MSE - many of this forum members do so without problems.

Has anyone with KIS 6 or 7 noticed that your computer slows down on heavy network activity? If I copy files to another PC on my local network my PC really slows down - if I disable KIS for the duration it is much faster.

I don't want to disable parts of KIS unless I really need to (apart from the banner/popup blocker).

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security

Add your network to Trusted and or change to High speed ... see attachments below.

Try HighSpeed first ... as you see, I did not need to add to Trusted.

Anyone out there tried installing/ using the full 180 day free version of KIS 6.0 that came free with the Dec 2006 PC Advisor magazine? The magazine refers to using the activation code during the installation process. I am a bit unhappy about this since it involves being logged onto the internet after removing my previous security software (NIS 2003)and before - presumably - being properly protected by KIS.Am I worrying unnecessarily? I see from the online Kaspersky manual that there are other options for activation that do not seem to involve installing while online, but I would then be concerned about not following the PC Advisor route. Can anyone comment?

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0

No, but I had intended to.Personally I do not worry too much about the lack of NIS or KIS protection initially. The brief period when you are on the internet before the installation is completed, you are covered by Windows firewall anyway, before its turned off by the installation where NIS or KIS replaces it.
