Bluetooth headphone audio skipping

Question: Bluetooth headphone audio skipping

I own a macbook pro and runs windows 7 by bootcamp. The headphone is JBL e40bt.
I tried to use my bluetooth headphone it had always failed and it said there was no driver for "bluetooth peripheral device."
I then downloaded the ASUS driver thing from here: Can't find drivers for bluetooth headset - Windows 7 Help Forums
And the problem was solved.

But now when I connect my headphone, it is only good immediately after I connect it. As long as I play something continuously the headphone won't switch off by itself and nothing's wrong. But if there's no audio input from the computer to the headphone for like a minute and then I start playing music, the audio is skipped. I have to reconnect the device for it to return normal.

Please help me. It is quite annoying. It's okay if I am playing games and stuff but I when I'm playing music I can't let it stop.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Insignia bluetooth wireless headphones that I want to use to listen to my Viso VO37L flat screen TV. So I put a Soundblaster Audigy soundcard in my spare computer and connected the TV headphone jack to the input line of the soundcard. I can now have the TV audio playing through the computers speakers. The problem is that no matter what I try I can't get the signal to the headphones. I have WIDCOMM bluetooth software installed on the computer and it works fine ,I can hear all Window XP sounds as well as the media player and other software audio. I tried using a few recording software programs thinking I could use the monitoring feature to hear the in-line input, but even though I could record the input and hear the replay I couldn't hear the monitor. This whole Idea seemed so simply but not I am thinking that "you can't get there from here". If anyone knows what I am missing I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I have a set of Nokia Lumia 1020 headphones with a single button. Double tap used to skip tracks. On my 950 this doesn't skip tracks, it just pauses. I noticed if you are super quick it works but mostly it takes the double click as a single click. Very, very frustrating. I tried this on two pairs with exactly the same result. This doesn't happen on my 1020 with the .71. Anybody experiencing this?

Answer:Anyone with a 950 having issues skipping tracks with headphone button?

For me on L950, all my Earphones or Headphones with single button for Answer/Play/Pause works perfectly with double push for next track and triple for backwards.

Hello Eight Forums.

My trouble is the audio output through headphones - background is louder than foreground (especially in music - I often cannot hear the vocals at all; movies however are mostly fine, for reasons unknown to me; but generally, the sound is always different in some way).

I only have one pair of headphones to test it with. However these always worked fine with previous machines, and still do work fine with my iPhone 4. Although they are surely not the case, I cannot with confidence say that if it were a loudspeaker instead things wouldn't have been different.

So this is either a software or a hardware issue.

My computer (details at the bottom) came with a SoundBlaster X-Fi MB3 equalizer program and RealTek High Def Audio drivers. I've uninstalled SoundBlaster hoping it would fix the issue (I didn't need an extra program like that anyway) but alas to no avail. Updating the RealTek drivers did no good still.

The only thing I haven't touched is the ghostly NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (can it be the source of my trouble?) - I only first noticed it now when copy/pasting the Belarc data. I'll try and find out about it in the meanwhile.

I wonder if it perhaps has something to do with my audio jack (laptop's brand new, but you can never know). I have what appears to be mic, headphone, S/PDIF and line in jacks... Is there a way to use the microphone or the line-in to test the headphones? To see if the headphone out is broken.

Any help appreci... Read more

Answer:Messed up headphone audio; want to check headphone jack

First, the "My System Specs" is where you fill in what you have.

Does the internal speakers on the laptop work? Is the audio OK on the internal speakers?

The SoundBlaster program(s) is a software enhancement to the basic audio chip (ReaklTek). Many PC's now come with some type of enhancement such as the SoundBlaster or in the case of HP PC's its "Beats Audio".

Just saw the new Realtek Hd audio driver release ,not updated yet, awaiting for your kind advise and suggestion.thanks.

thought here; have you checked all the settings to make sure the proper headphone/speaker settings are checked/unchecked?. i would consider updating to that newest driver. If it does not solve the issue you should be able to restore it back to the previous restore point which should undo the driver update.

I have a brand new HP 17t laptop, that was customized back in Septmber 2014. I needed bluetooth, so i got that installed. My issue is, every bluetooth speaker I pair to my laptop it plays music but every few seconds or so it "skips" during playback. Turning off the bluetooth speaker, the built in speaker on my laptop (Beats Audio) plays great, no skipping. I thought maybe it was my internet, so i turned off wireless internet and just played a CD in my optical drive in my laptop, and the audio came through the built in speaker great, turned on bluetooth speaker, it skips again, without internet. Tried another CD same thing, doesn't matter. I thought it was the speaker, took it back to best buy, bought a new BOSE mini 3 or whatever, and it STILL skips during playback! I have Windows 7 Profesional SP1 preinstalled from HP, took off McaFee virus that came with it, I checked Device manager, and all drivers are up to date it says, and no errors in Device Manager, connection is all full on both wireless internet and speaker connection, but it still skips during audio playback. In Device manager, it shows under "Bluetooth Radios" 1. Microsoft Bluetooth Enmerator and 2. Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. The drivers says there up to date on  both, so i thought maybe it was my HD audio from Realtek, but those are up to date, and the audio works fine once it isn't playing through bluetooth. I thought maybe location, the speaker skips no matter if it... Hi @sreamer17ydr, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are having issues with your Bluetooth speakers in terms of reliability.  My first question to you is why do you want to use Bluetooth if you want reliable sound? Bluetooth like most wireless technologies can be affected by interference.  Bluetooth also tends to function better with a clear line of site.  the adaptor in your notebook supports a higher data transfer rate , but if the receiver is at a different Bluetooth level, you are possibly going to see some problems. As a start you can look at this.Understanding Bluetooth Wireless Technology Bluetooth is very useful but has its limitations. How can I uninstall Dell Audio and only have the legacy Realtek Driver and Software in my XPS 14 (L421x)?
I installed some time age the default audio driver that I got from "Dell Drivers", this installed the "Dell Audio" + "MAXX AUDIO 4". I already uninstalled this thing, run CCleaner, deleted the folders, and downloaded and installed the legacy Realtek R 2.73 driver, but this thing (Dell Audio) is always installing with the driver.
My system audio is ridiculously loud. I need to put my system audio in somewhat 5~15 / 100% to get "normal audio", the only way I get realistic "normal audio range" is using my SteelSeries Wireless Headset with USB, this way the system audio goes to 100% automatically and I control the audio with the scroll located in the headset, even in 100% max audio, I get a "normal 100%", it's loud, but not EXTREME like the notebook audio!
Another problem, when I plugin my Apple Earpods, they simple doesn't work, I already tested them with tons of devices at home, and they are working great. The system doesn't even recognize them.
I think that everything would be resolved if I could install the Leagacy Realtek drivers & software, not this *** loaded with bloatware from Dell, I don't care about "MAXX Audio", "MaxxSense" and all this BS. If you look with attention, all the settings located in this "Dell Audio" menu are the same in the Real... Read more

Hello BleepingComputer
I just upgraded my computer a few days ago, and I am having problems with the Front Jack Audio/Headphone.
Normally, I set my Headphone to run simultaneous with my Speaker with Realtek HD audi/Stereo Nix (Disable Front Jack Detection and vice versa), and I could change the volume on both devices separately.
But since I changed the motherboard, when I have realtek installed, it doesn't have the Headphone setting in Sound/Playback.
The headphone work perfectly, but its linked to the Speaker's volume, which is really annoying.
Also, the Realtek layout changed from the last one I got, and doesn't have the "Disable Front Jack Detection" option.
So far, I have tired..
Installing an older version of Realtek driver;
Changing the audio setting in the BIOs (HD or AC97)
Changing the audio connector on the MOBO (Hd or AC97)
Tried multiple compinations with Realtek HD audio manager settings.
Cleaned every plugs/jacks related on that.
So far, I couldn't been able to get the Headphone tag at all when Realtek is installed.
Thanks !

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with earpiece!!

I don't think there is because usually when you plug in a headset or turn on a bluetooth headset it disables the speakers, so I suspect that bluetooth essentially does the same to your wired headset - probably nothing that can be done about it unless you happen to find a setting in the realtek control panel that disables the 'feature'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Are you using vendor's bluetooth drivers? If so, remove it, reboot and let your system install the Microsoft bluetooth stack. You may have to uninstall your hardware manually too (from device manager)

Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a new "sports headphone" to be used at the gym. Unfortunately, where I am, I only either have bluetooth 2.0 + NFC or Bluetooth 4.0 (only 1 or 2 options) without NFC.

I am really keen on NFC, as I have a S4 and really keen to try NFC, would really appreciate any feedback on this? Is BT2.0 with NFC a better option in terms of easy of use or a simple BT3.0 or BT4.0 without NFC be a safer bet?

I am not too sure how stable the NFC technology now is, so thats my only concern.

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Answer:NFC or bluetooth sports headphone?

Since NFC only works up to a few inches, it must be used just for the setup. The Bluetooth would then be used as the link between the headphones and phone.

Im at my wits end now. As the title says really im having probs with cds im making from mp3s skipping randomly. it started about 2months ago, my dvdrw had been noisy for sometime and started to skip audio cds i made (hadnt changed cdr brand been using the same brand for donkeys) so i bought myself a new drive (phillips dvdr1628) thinking my existing samsuny had just packed in. Unfortunately this failed to remedy the problem, i then thought maybe this was just a coincidence that the new dvdrw didnt like my choice of cdr so i bought a different brand of disks...still no joy. next i formatted my system thinking maybe there was still traces of nero 7 on it (which skips like anything anyway) and installed trusty nero 6 reloaded which ive used for donkeys. however still skipping cds. any suggestions on how to solve this great mystery? lol

any suggestions for alternate software?

Question: Y50 Audio Skipping

Hello,  I have had a Lenovo Y50 for a few months now, and every now and then, there would be a momentary skip in the audio regardless of media. It could be YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, Netflix, or just a movie I purchased. It has happened on them all. But, it was so infrequent, that I never really paid it any mind. In the past week or so, it is happening more frequently, and is currently at the point where I can't listen/watch anything. The skippnig occurs maybe once every five seconds. I have searched online for solutions, but none have worked. I also want to add that it happens with and without headphones. I have tried:DefraggingChecking Power Savings Settings (someone had suggested this)Updating Drives (all were up to date)Manually Deleting All Unnecessary FilesIf anyone can help or has had this same issue, I would love to hear what you have to say! Hello I'm running a XP home edition, SP2, Pentium 4 3.00GHz, 2.99GHz 0.99Gb of RAM.

This started happening 2 days ago.
When I try to play a song on iTunes it would start skipping and freeze my computer screen part by part. I would try to open up task manager to end iTunes but it won't even open up. I am able to move the cursor around, but if I try to restart my computer by clicking the start menu, the menu won't open up and it freezes the start menu. After that, the whole screen becomes un-clickable, so I end up holding onto the cpu power button to turn it off.

The same thing happens when I try to watch something on Youtube, the sound starts skipping, video stops and the computer screen freezes

I had a problem removing Win32:root-kit gen 2 days ago when this all started happening, but it was gone today when I turned system restore off then back on. Then I ran avast to make sure it was gone and no problems came up.

I thought the audio skipping problem would go away too, but it still happens and now I have no idea what's causing it

Answer:Audio keeps skipping

There's a good chance that you still have an infection. Rootkit viruses are BY FAR the most difficult to remove completely, and simply toggling system restore is not likely to clean a rootkit, and running a single Avast scan probably won't clean it completely either. I strongly suggest you read and follow the steps in the world famous Major Geeks Malware Removal Guide at this link. Once you've followed those steps exactly, and posted the logs (if needed) and you've been 'certified' clean by the malware gurus, then we can tackle the issue above if it stills exists. Good luck!

Question: Audio Skipping

Hi everyone. I run a group of Internet Radio stations, and I have a question about a specific problem that is going on every week now. I like to think that I am pretty experienced when it comes to audio, since I've been doing Internet radio broadcasting and DJing for many years, but I can't seem to figure this one out.

This DJ records his weekly set using some program on the computer (I'm not sure which one - I'll try to find out if needed) and then renders it to a mp3 file. He has three computers, and he plays back the file on every one of them in various media players before he uploads it via FTP to one of our servers. It plays back just fine for him on all three computers, sounding great.

However, after being uploaded, when the set gets ready for playback, it's filled with a bunch of skips and jumps in the audio. I have made a small sample of what it sounds like, here.

Here is the info I have on the file, and nothing I can really see would cause skipping like demonstrated:

mp3 VBR (Avg Bitrate: 245kbps), 44.1KHz, Joint Stereo. Lame 3.92

I know Joint Stereo isnt the best option for encoding, but it wouldn't cause the skips.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Answer:Audio Skipping

I downloaded and listened to the clip. There is nothing wrong with ur playback program, but whatever program that DJ is using is creating the noises. This may be either be due to a different encode setting in the Lame codec or due to file corruption during ftp transfer. Can u find out what program he is using?? And ask him to upload the mp3s after putting it in a zip file. That way transfer error can be detected.

Question: Audio skipping

I need help i have started an at home studio and things were working fine untill yesterday when my dell dimension 5150's audio started skipping not only in adobe audition 3 but in every thing. its not terrible lag but its annoying and i want my stuff perfect.

Answer:Audio skipping

lol @ wanting your stuff perfect, don't we all lol

A couple of things you could try

Firstly try checking you have the most up to date audio driver installed by checking your audio device's manufacturer website. To find out what you have right click my computer and select properties and select the hardware tab and click on device manager. You will find the make of your audio device there under sound video controllers.

Secondly do a system restore to a point before the sound lag starts happening, could be you may have installed something or an update has interfered with the sound device.

Hope this helps

Question: Audio Skipping

Within the past week, audio has begun to skip while I'm loading a webpage/scrolling through one, opening up itunes, loadinga folder with a lot of files in it, etc. MP3's, video, podcasts - it's all skipping and stuttering. I thought it might be a memory issue, but i have 2Gigs, and I'm really only using about 1Gig at any given time. I can't think of anything I've installed in the past week that would be causing this - it's seemingly out of nowhere. Help!

Question: Audio skipping

I just upgraded to XP Pro SP2 the other day (I know, very late, but I just got around to it!), and since the upgrade when I listen to music in iTunes all of the audio is skipping. It sounds like what my music sounds like when I'm simultaneously printing and listening, like, system resources are focusing on printing through USB and making the music skip. Which is odd...but anyway, I unplugged all my USB devices (except my mouse) and it's still doing it. So I'm not sure what my next step is. I am using the most recent version of iTunes (6.0.5). My sound card is on-board, before I go buy a sound card to put in I want to try other solutions.

Any suggestions?

Hi, I am having problems getting a Bluetooth headset to operate. Having connected and paired (I believe), the device shows in Devices and Printers. In Device Manager, there are three listings for it (Aukey model EP-B4). Each listing says there are no drivers installed. Have tried updating each and all but after an age for Windows searching for drivers I had to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it.
I have contacted the manufacturer many times but so far no results - they repeatedly requested from where I bought it and item number.
I am using Win7 SP1 with all updates current.
The headset works well with my mobile phone and tablet (Android 5.1).
Any help much apprecitated.

I can't use my bluetooth headphone and wired earpiece simultaneously. whenever I connect my bluetooth headphone to my laptop, the wired earpiece stops working.
I'm having Dell XPS L501X with Realtek High Definition Audio.
Is there any way to make them work simultaneously?

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with my wired earpiece!!!!

In most cases (all I've seen) you can only have one default playback device, e.g. PC speaker (and wired headphones) or another device such as your bluetooth or HDMI audio.

Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a deviceNo device can be found! (I am sure the headphone is discoverable and it works perfectly with other laptops and my mobile phone) 2. In "Device Manager", there is no "Bluetooth" icon. 3. In Computer Management > Services, "Bluetooth Support Service" is running and is set to Automatic. 4. In Computer Management > Services, "Bluetooth Handsfree Service" is running and is set to Automatic.   This is driving me crazy. I don't know what else to do.

I have a problem where my audio skips when viewing movies using any media player (VLC, DivX, WMP). I recently had to revert back to Windows XP after Vista after a failed attempt at installing Windows 7 and it seems to be since then. Can anyone help?

Have you installed the appropriate driver for your onboard audio / or sound card (which ever is the case) ? Or are you using the generic windows driver ?

Hey everyone,I am semi-new to the forums, i have been on here for one issue in the past on my other computer and it was very helpful - anyway, this time, my wife's computer has had a "skipping" problem for quite some time. I dont know if it is attributed to malware or not, but i dont think so. I have run multiple virus scanners, spybot, adaware, have tried disconnecting wireless (i read somwhere that that could be it), checked memory, defragged, etc... basically everything i know how to do and i have not been able to remedy the situation. Basically whenever you run and audio or video file in any application (WMPlayer, Itunes, youtube, anything) it skips and stutters terribly. The computer has plenty of available memory, is not maxed out in CPU usage or anything. Other than this problem, the computer seems to run flawlessly... I cant figure it out - if someone has time to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!System specsHP Laptop dv50001.79 GHzAMD Turion 64 Mobile1 GB of RamWindows XP Media Center EditionVersion 2002, Service Pack 2Here is the HiJackThis Log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 5:37:41 PM, on 6/23/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS... I posted this a long time ago and never got a solution cause I was too busy to deal with it. I actually found a solution but what I understand is, the problem will come back and I am wondering how I figure out why the problem is happening and fix that so it does not keep happening. This is the forum that discussed the solution. I changed my HDD to DMA mode cause it automatically changed to PIO mode. What I am assuming is that it changed to PIO and that is when my problems began. I changed it and it is now fine. What has caused it to change. I know it is not as simple as that, but how do I figure out what is causing this?

Answer:Skipping Audio And Video

Hello raidencmc,The problem can happen for a number of reasons, such as incorrect BIOS settings, damaged connections, failing hardware, damaged block on the drive, drivers failing is a good article on the problem.

Try using System Restore to a point before the problem started and see if that has any effect. As you may know you can always undo any restore if you don't like the results.

recently, audio matter on headphones, usb speakers or whatever...has started random skipping in wmp files play from internal hd.

I've checked all drivers up to date. I've turned off norton and no difference. I've giving wmp highest priority in cpu usage. I've turned off all other programs.

This machine has played perfectly for several years until lately. The only thing that changed before the skipping started was installing a wireless mouse. I have disconnected that, too, ...problem still there.

It's a dell inspiron laptop running windows 7 home premium. (upgraded from the original vista). All work perfectly after the upgrade for at least several months.

Are the audio files you are playing new or old? Copy some to an external USB stick or burn them to CD/DVD and see how they play on another system.

I also hear the problem when Im listening to songs with limewire, but thats understandable because limewire is a ram hog

Music is literally my life, and Im on my computer a lot, and its really a drag if I cant listen to music and such without it completely pooping out

Answer:My audio is skipping, and cracking really bad.

First thing I always ask about crackling audio is does the same crackling and popping happen when you listen to cd audio or mp3 from a physical cd or dvd drive? Could be your SATA driver working inefficiently if so.

There are so many potential causes for this. First thing to check is audio driver. If latest, try older. If older, try latest.

Visit your motherboard manufacturer's site or Gateway and update the drivers for everything they offer for Win 7.

Your lan driver could be in conflict with your audio driver. Does it only happen when packets are being sent and/or received?

Defragment your hard drive(s).

Go into your bios and disable every port not in use, like serial and/or parallel. Disable the floppy drive too, unless you actually use the thing. Windows will boot faster.

If you have a firewire (IEEE 1394) adapter in use or not in use, change it to a generic driver. Sometimes in these cases, there's success in untying certain services to each other in the registry and then disabling one. I'll tell about that later too if it gets to that.

I see you have an old video card. The driver you're using for that could be not so great causing interference in your pc operating well.

I've also fixed machines with this problem by going into bios and generally making sure things are correct. Machines with hard drive or controller misconfigurations or that haven't been optimized (i.e. set wrong) can exhibit this behavior.

You may have some luck by changing the latency for the a... Read more

Recently I've noticed my audio skipping/lagging. I've never had this issue before and it just started up two or three days ago. I haven't recently changed anything on my computer so I'm not sure what could have happened. I've noticed it in foobar2000, MPC, and even on Youtube. It seems to happen most often when the CPU spikes in activity (such as opening any software).

I've tried reinstalling my sound drivers but that hasn't helped any.

I'm on Windows 7 x64 and have a Xonar D1 and an i5 2550k. I haven't noticed any other problems. If you have any suggestions please let me know, thanks!

I have a creative live value series 128 bit 4 Channel Sound card.

My machine is Athlon 2000 XP on An Asus A7n266VM Motherboard. The onboard sound has been disabled in the BiOs

My machine has a config of 256 MB ram, 40 gb HDD, and a Adcom 4.1 speaker set. OS is Windowx XP (Licensed copy)

The problem is the audio playback, while playing MP3s in media player the audio skips ahead by atleast 5-8 seconds or the tempo becomes very fast. Winamp is able to play audio decently. But I need to use Media Player to watch videos, but even audio during video play back skips.

Audio skips in all audio playback software, including PowerDVD so I can't enjoy watching DVDs also.

Please let me know a solution and also is there any tool which can detect the sound card on the computer.

My sound is skipping when playing any type of audio(cd, mp3, video), approx. once a minute for about 2 or 3 seconds each time. All audio on my computer has suddenly started skipping a few weeks ago and making a static noise. I've had the computer for about a year and the audio has been perfectly fine until now. It's doing this on all audio, windows noises, winamp, media player, youtube videos, etc. I've made no recent hardware changes and I've tried updating all of my drivers but nothing fixed it. After a restart, the static will go away for about an hour, but then it is back. It's so bad I can't even listen to music with it, driving me a bit insane. I'm running Windows 7 x64, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:[SOLVED] Audio Skipping

The fact that it happens after an hour would beg the question.

Has the machine ever been cleaned and dusted inside?
It rather sounds like when something gets hot then it begins to have issues.

Without you mentioning anything concerning what type of system it is I will assume probably incorrectly that it is a desktop.

Is the sound integrated into the MB or is it a add on card?
Is the sound output to another device that could be having an issue such as external speakers with an internal amp?

Here is a puzzling problem.

Both the DVD (LITEON) drive and DVD RW (Memorex DVD 16) drive on one of my PCs have an unacceptable audio/video skip or halting when playing standard movie (VOB) DVDs. The problem does not occur when playing a CD or DVD with mpg or vmg videos.

I tried standard movie DVDs on another PC's DVD drive (HP DVD). Absolutely no problem.

What could be going on here? Since both DVDs on the first PC have the problem, I have more or less ruled them out as the fault -- short of pulling them and switching with the second PC to see if the work properly there --my gut feeling is that they will work OK in the second PC. So... could the sound or video card in PC#1 be a problem with VOB type files?

To prove a point, I played a VOB file directly from the hard disk on PC#1 and the hard disk on PC#2 via network. Same problem with skipping/halting.

Any one with suggestions?

SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
Display adaptor Radeon 9200 128MB

videos that I have on my hard disk drive have randomly started skipping. This has just started recently, I am pretty sure it isn't the video files because they never skip in the same spot, and the skipping is becoming more frequent. I just got a brand new Dell PC running Windows XP. I got a new USB D-Link Wireless Adapter DWA-130. It connected fine and my internet is running at an okay speed (even though it consistently tells me my signal is "very low" - but I can live with that at the moment). My problem is that I can't listen to any music, video, sound, etc. without it skipping constantly!!! Even when not connected to the internet!

When I disconnect the D-Link, the audio is fine, so I have narrowed it down to that being the problem. Any ideas how to fix this?

Answer:D-Link Audio Skipping

Make sure you're using the latest drivers for your hardware. Go on Dell support and enter the model or service tag to access the downloads. Update the chipset, video, audio and lan drivers.

Install the latest driver for your wireless card :

Go to Windows update and install the latest critical updates for your syste.

Uninstall the previous drivers and restart the computer each time you install a new driver. Once you've installed the latest drivers from Dell and D-link and the latest updates from Windows update restart the computer one more time and see if the problem still happens.

If it's not solved then try to uninstall the bundled software and use the driver alone. Go to the device manager : start => run => devmgmt.msc. Expand network controllers, double-click your wireless card, go to the drivers tab and click on details. Write down the name of the driver(s). Go to start => search, click on advanced options and tick system folders, hidden folders and subfolders. Select the c: drive and search for driver*.* where driver is the name of the driver before the .sys extension. If several files were listed under details search for all those files. Save all the files you'll find (sys, dll, cab, inf) to some folder on the desktop.

Go to add/remove program and uninstall anything related to D-link or to your wireless card. Then back in the device manager right-click the wireless card and click uninstall. ... Read more

For some reason my audio skips, no matter if its a stream like a youtube video or playing a song. I've tried playing from an external drive, no fix.
I've tried a generic driver and the driver released for my computer for vista.

Idk what my wireless card is called.
The audio only skips when the wireless is on. It very bad, and I can't find a way to fix it.
Anyone know if the october release will fix this issue?
Or if there's a fix now?

Answer:Wireless + Audio skipping

I found your thread while searching for help with my new Gateway NV52. I am having the a skipping/popping sound on my laptop as well when listening to audio. I am currently running Vista. I have been troubleshooting to try and figure out where the problem is coming from and it seems at this point to be primarily when I listen to something with headphones through the headphone jack. I burned a CD copy of one of the albums I've been hearing the sounds on and it seems to play fine on a regular audio CD I was able to at least isolate that it's an issue with the laptop itself. When I listen to songs just using the speakers on the laptop I'm not hearing the far it seems to be just through the headphones.

Are you having similar experiences? I'm staring to wonder if there is an issue with these laptops playing audio...

I recently had my new ibm thinkpad replaced because of skipping audio. When I look at the performance monitor, cpu usage jumps up to 100% every time skipping occurs (it skips on all sound files, not just cds). However, now the brand new thinkpad is doing the exact same thing. It happens even when I run no other programs but media player. Is there some way to track down the process that is causing the skipping? Possibly some kind of driver conflict i guess..but how to tell which one? Any help is appreciated.

The dongle connected and installed fine but when I pressed "Add a device", it saw it as a keyboard and when it tried to install the driver for it, it gave me a "No driver found" for Bluetooth Peripheral Device. It is a Ciberspeed Sports Bluetooth Headphone and it has worked for my iPod so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I appreciate any help.

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

Answer:Yoga 13 Bluetooth Issues (Headphone Connection)

I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset with Windows, but check: 1.  Right-click on the sound tray icon, select Playback devices.  Does it show a 2nd bluetooth headset device in addition to Speakers?  If so, left-click on it and try the "Set Default" dropown menu on the bottom to make it the Default device (or some other option that works better). 2. 3.

I ran system update about 2 weeks ago and my T400 hasn't been right since. I've got the following issues...Audio skips, specifically when playing Mp3s AACs, etc. - Running Conexant Driver version: hangs intermittently - After having problems with the igfxsrvc.exe ramping up really high CPU utilization (most recent driver), I had to go to disable the switchable graphics and install the old ATI driver. - ATI Driver Version: 8.520.4.5000Computer won't sleep on lid close while plugged in... even though the setting is set in PowerManager 2.42Waking up from sleep causes the computer to black the screen about 3 times before becoming responsive... I see desktop, black (w cursor), desktop, black (w cursor), desktop... very annoying and not very fluid.Im running Vista 64, have the latest T400 bios and have Aero turned on. Any help diagnosing my problems would be greatly appreciated.  UPDATE: So, #3 was solved by using a different power setting, almost seems to be a bug with the "Maximum Battery Life"preset... at least for my computer. #4 was fixed by installing the monitor driver.ChrisMessage Edited by LappyT400 on 02-15-2009 10:00 PMMessage Edited by LappyT400 on 02-15-2009 10:01 PM

Answer:Audio skipping and other issues on T400

Chris,I also own a T400 and had huge issues with skipping audio. Try the following: 1) Uninstall Intel Storage Manager and let Vista use the default driver for disc controller (I presume yours is by default in AHCI mode just as mine was).2) Then go to Control Panel -> Sound, select Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and after clicking on Options, select Disable all enhancements under Enhancements tab (this is a time-proven trick I learned while using a Dell at work). Pls let me know it this works for you.-Tom-

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. I booted it up yesterday afternoon and discovered the sound was gone. but after a restart the sound came right back. I loaded World of Warcraft and noticed the sound was VERY grainy and occasionally skipped like I had too many programs running and it was trying to keep up.. this has never happened before. I restarted again and the audio was still grainy. I was hoping it was just the game, so I turned on iTunes to check.. the music on iTunes wasn't grainy, but skipped for a moment every other second or so. I've tried updated drivers, chipsets, etc. but nothing seems to work. The computer has been out of warranty for two months, so shipping it probably isn't an option for me right now. Any help is appreciated.. thank you!

I'm having problems with the audio on my Satellite L350.

I bought it in February & for the first couple of months I had no problems, but more recently I've been getting stuttering/juddering/skipping audio on my laptop.
It always happens at 5 minute intervals for a few seconds on all audio from my laptop - CD's, DVD's, winamp, iTunes, Windows media player, VLC media player, streaming audio from websites, any warning tones if they happen to go off at the 5 min interval.

I've seen a few suggestions about this problem online like updating my audio drivers (tried that & it didn't work), shutting down any unesscesary programs, listening to music when I'm not connected to the internet & the wireless cnnection on my laptop is turned off - none of them have worked.

Has anyone else had this provblem & is there a fix for it?

Answer:Audio skipping on Satellite L350

Hmm, I never had or heard about such an issue. I have Satellite L300 that is similar to yours and I can?t notice any problems with the sound even I often listen music.

Anyway, can you notice the same issue with external speakers too? I mean so you can determine if the internal speakers causing this problem or something else.
Check this!

Furthermore I would recommend updating the BIOS that you can find on the Toshiba website.
And what OS are you using? Are you running the ?factory settings? or have you installed another Windows?

ok first off i am confused about what Realtek is... i currently have a sound blaster audigy sound card but before i think my sound was integrated. i bought the sound blaster because my sound was always skipping and i figured it was due to cheap stock hardware that came with my computer, i also remember having to install a realtek audio driver but is that because my integrated hardware was realtek brand? i installed my sound blaster driver that came on the disc and it worked fine for a couple of weeks and now all of a sudden i am having the same skipping problem i had with the integrated sound... i went to my device manager and noticed that i still had the realtek driver installed but when i uninstalled it every time my computer starts up i get a message that wants me to reinstall it...

to sum all of this up i need to know if i need any realtek stuff on my comp with a sound blaster sound card, plus i need help with my audio skipping. Thanks.

Recently, my computer began to boot up extremely slowly, and when it finally booted, I would get a pop up window saying that Zone Alarm was initializing and that would stay up for several minutes, then things would open normally. After this had gone on for a few weeks, I decided to uninstall and reinstall Zone Alarm and Avast. When I did this, I no longer got the "initializing" screen for ZA, but I noticed my computer seemed to be bogged down much worse than before. If I'm listening to any audio--it doesn't matter how, it can be Winamp, Youtube, any and all sounds/audio--I get this annoying "skipping" sound that sounds similar to a CD skipping every 10-20 seconds or so. I don't think this is just audio-related, as if I open Notepad and hold down a key, I can see the text "skip" at the same time the audio does. Also, in Chrome when I open a new tab, there is often a long delay before it will load the page. In addition, I have noticed Youtube videos seem to load extremely slowly, much slower than they do on my phone which is using the same wi-fi connection. And, sometimes there will be VERY long delays between when I click on a program or a folder and when it opens.

I have uninstalled any unnecessary programs, I have limited start-up process to the bare minimum, but nothing helps the problem. One other side effect is that Malewarebytes would never start up. I could install it, update it, but it wouldn't open. I used Spybot and Ava... Read more

It may well be the unit in my car (only 2 yrs old) causing the problems but I just thought I'd check and see what some smart people had to say here.

I got a label-applying kit to put round labels on the TOP side of CD's I make on my home PC. Before I used this labeler, I don't remember having skipping problems.

I've noticed that lately I get a lot of skipping when I play a CD with a label on it in my vehicle. Can something stuck on the topside of a disc cause a problem of any sort? The kit is made by Memorex so I figure it's got to be all right for this use.

It may be the player but I thought I'd see if this label could in some small way contribute to the problem.

Thanks for any info or tips,

Experiencing annoying "skipping" in my audio-- sounds just like a scratched cd, when it still plays but there's an audible "blip-blip-blip"-ing... sometimes will freeze for few seconds and "skip" just like cd... happens in some video games (Microsoft desktop 3D pinball) and some WM and Real audio... started happening after I had some virus problems. Ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

If I jump into the middle of the video for a few seconds the audio and video aren't in sync. The oinly codec I have is xvid.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Answer:Skipping through a avi/mpg causes audio and video to un-sync

Is this only with one video? If it happens with all videos, it'd be best to uninstall the current codec, and make sure you download the most up-to-date version.

Also, double check which codec the video is encoded with, it could be another codec.

I'm having trouble with spotify on a laptop running winXP SP3. Sometimes the audio skips, just like a scratched CD. It skips maybe half a second every time, but this is very annoying, and it happens several times in each song. Sometimes a can listen to a few songs without skipping, I can't find a pattern as to when it happens. I have a fast internet connection, and the computer specifications are:

i7-820QM(1.73GHz), 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200rpm HD, 15.6in 1920x1080 LCD, 1GB nVIDIA Quadro FX 880M

I tried to google this, but all I found were problems related to Linux/Wine.

I'd appreciate any help.

Answer:Spotify audio skipping in WinXP

Turn off the wireless. The wireless scans for networks every few seconds\minutes, and might cause that audio skip on certain models of notebook. You should not notice it if you are connected to a wireless network.

Worth a shot anyway.

More Burner Help Needed

My burner is still working perfectly no problem there it's burning audio cd's that i am having trouble. They burn but i burn't on audio cd full of old tv themes that were all different bitrate's and there was 60 of them.I burn't them the first 24 worked fine but from 25 to 54 they were jittery and jumpy all the way through. What's going on burning at a lower speed to me would slove the problem but i can only burn at a minimum of 8 with my burner.I was wondering if i could burn below that speed with my burner evn though it says it's from 8x on up to 32x on the box.Would a diferent program let me burn at a lower speed and does it matter what kinda cd's i am using, if it does I am using high capacity Sony 32x Cd-r's.Can yah's help me out again i am sorry for buggin you guys again but you know i am desperate.

Answer:Skipping problems on burned audio cds.

You could make them all .wav files before you burn them as an audio cd, maybe the program you are using to burn them couldn't deal with certain bitrates, or variable bit rates. Until I found out the version of nero I was using could deal with mp3s I used to always convert my mp3s to wavs before I burned them. I'm almost cerain this will work if that is indeed the problem.
You also mentioned high track numbers (anything above 24 I consider high), have you tried with another cd player? Maybe your cd player doesn't like going that high?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find any threads on this forum that addressed my issue. I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue either.

So I'm running vista x64 and recently, when I'm watching a video (I use VLC) or playing a song (winamp), the audio will stutter/skip a split second every so often. Sometimes the audio will skip and the screen will freeze for 2-10 seconds at a time. Oddly enough, things are fine when I run a game that requires alot of resources.

Lately I installed a third hard drive (Western Digital Caviar Blue 640 GB). I think this might be tied to the issue somehow since it seems like things started mucking up after that but I'm not sure what to do about it. Is the hard drive not getting sufficient power?

I've tried running malware scans, updating my drivers, etc. Maybe my programs missed something and it's actually due to a virus?

Also, it seems like the hard drive has become disconnected and then reconnected again a few times as windows pops open one of those "windows has detected a new blahblah what would you like to do" menus.

Any help would be appreciated. This is getting really annoying!

System specs:
Processor: Intel e4600
Memory: A-DATA 4gb DDR2
Motherboard: ASUS P5N-E SLI
HDs:Western Digital Caviar Blue 640 GB, Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB, Seagate Barracuda 500 GB
Graphics card: ECS N9600 GT 512 MB
PSU: Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX 12V

Answer:Audio skipping/screen freezing

Do you have a lot of other programs running at the same time?
Is the bottom right corner of your screen have several icons showing?
Have you defragged the hard drives recently?
Have you been to the Asus site to check for updated drivers?

As for the new blah blah I will need you to be a bit more specific.
What is plugged into the USB ports?
Anything new added when this happens?

There are a few other possibilities but these are often the normal causes and should be looked at first.

I have an old Inspiron 560 that is still working great and I recently upgrated to Windows 10.
About 4 years ago I came across a choppy/skipping audio problem and I fixed it disabling Dell Diag Control Device.
However, ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, the problem is back.
I have done everything on this thread:
but I actually can't find any of the things listed there.
I can't find Dell Diag Control Device.
Can't find Dell Data Vault or Dell Data Vault Wizard
Can't find Dell Support Assist.
What could be the problem? It's gotta be something that I need to remove/disable, because the same symptoms are there: every 60 minutes, some skipping on the audio appears and it's driving me crazy.
Nothing in the thread above mentions Windows 10, so maybe that's it... ?
Is it that I just don't know how to find and remove/disable the above system devices? Is it somewhere else?
I appreciate any help.
