Win10 Default Lock Screen theme does not show 24 Hour Time

Question: Win10 Default Lock Screen theme does not show 24 Hour Time

I regularly use the 24 hour time format for all of my systems.
Its not a major issue I have now with Win10, but its annoying a bit.

Before I logon to Windows 10, the default lock screen theme has the time in 12 hour format instead of the 24 hour format.
In Windows, I set everything in 24 hour time. Period. I just don't like 12 hour time.
However, when I sign out or just by locking my screen, it does show the time in 24 hour format.
But when I reboot my system it shows the time in 12 hour format.

Is this a bug or what in Win10?

Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Win10 Default Lock Screen theme does not show 24 Hour Time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just installed Windows 10 on my primary laptop and the lock screen is a solid blue (if I change my theme color, the lock screen changes too). However, I have Windows Spotlight turned on. I've tried setting a static picture or slideshow as the background. I also confirmed that the files needed for Windows Spotlight are indeed downloaded onto my computer. It just refuses to change.

It's worth noting that on my secondary computer with Windows Insider builds, I have, and have been having, the same problem. Any ideas as to how to fix it?

My lock screen (apparently you can't screenshot the lock screen):

My settings app:

The folder where Windows Spotlight stores images:

Answer:Windows 10 Lock Screen Background Doesn't Show Up (stays theme color)

And blue is the accent color for that theme, correct?

After installing Windows 10 on my laptop my lock screen is experiencing the same problem as you, as well as in the desktop. In the desktop I found out that if I set a specific picture or slideshow and set the taskbar to detect color, the taskbar will switch colors to match the picture(s) as if they were displaying, but the pictures themselves don't actually appear on either the desktop or lockscreen.

If we are having an identical problem, that would mean that the pictures are still displaying, but the accent colors are taking priority over them, in a sense.

So as of yesterday Mar 30 the time on my PC started displaying an hour ahead than actual time for no reason. No changes to clock settings. Daylight savings was Mar 12 where I live and my PC adjusted automatically as per normal. If I go into Date and Time settings, I see 'set time automatically' is checked. Timezone is set correct (Pacific Time US & Canada). Adjust for daylight saving time automatically is checked. If I uncheck that, the clock goes back an hour and displays correct time. Problem is I shouldn't have to uncheck that since I do live in a timezone that observes daylight saving and Windows should adjust properly.

Thoughts, ideas?

Answer:Win10 time suddenly an hour off

I have seen a similar report elsewhere and it was the same time zone as yours. The fix was to change the time server used to check/update the correct time. Simply type pool.ntp.org into the box as shown and click update now. See if that fixes your issue. If not, you can always go back and select your original setting:

Good luck,

WOT

This is a clean build, two days old. "On resume, display logon screen" is unchecked in the screen saver settings. No screen saver set, no password set. It's running on the stock "balanced" power setting. I can leave it alone for 5 minutes, and the screen will turn black; a bit longer and it'll hibernate. However, if I leave it untouched long enough - I haven't timed it, but an hour seems about right - the screen will awake from hibernation on its own (it is not the mouse creeping either) and display the lock screen again.Any ideas?-Kurt

Answer:Win 7 hibernates for an hour - then pops up w/lock screen

Have you checked task scheduler? There could be a task that is set to wake it after 1 hour of hibernation.Though why this would occur after only 2 days I don't know.Open CMD (Run as Admin) and type the following:powercfg -lastwakeDo this after it wakes from hibernation, and it should tell you what awoke it.If it is a hardware device waking the computer, do this:Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device ManagerThen click the device that is waking your computer. Under the Power Management tab, uncheck the box that says Allow this Device to Wake the Computer. If it's software that is waking the computer, do this:Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Change Plan > Change Advanced Power SettingsClick the Advanced tab. Click the arrow next to Sleep or Hibernate, and disable Allow Wake Timers.Admittedly, the Lock Screen is a bit confusing. Is there a chance of malware?Let us know if this helps!EDIT: How to change Windows power settings.User Info Page for full specs.message edited by NT56erbx

When I first open the Windows Explorer after starting my computer the icons for the files show up as a white box. I have run virus scans, malware scans which both finding nothing, then I defraged the drive and tried resetting the icon cache then rebooted. The same thing happens. The icon do eventually show up after the computer has been on for a while.

Has anyone else experienced this and what is a fix?

Thanks

Hey everyone

Not going to explain my entire life on here, just a little question.
I want my laptop to have a nice dark theme to it
I have very sensitive eyes and normal brightness hurts very quickly.
So the only way i was able to nicely darken the screen, was to select one of the high contrast themes that comes preloaded with windows 8

and with a darkish desktop background, i think i did pretty well, I will try to post a picture up here so you can see what im talkng about, but im not sure if it will work

so anyway, i locked out of the computer, and took a look at the lock screen and it is this horrid looking dark blue purplish background, almost made me puke. Then i found out that you can change the background image

but

not for high contrast themes.

is there ANY way around this?
I dont care about the contrast, i just want a darker screen, and the only way i was able to achieve such freedom to change window colors and general colors was by selecting the high contrast theme and fiddling around with it.

I saved it as my own theme but theres no tricking this device, it still counts it as high contrast.

Does anybody know if i have any options around this? I have looked around for similar incidents, but nothing has come up yet.

any input is valued, friends

happy holidays.

Answer:Custom lock screen picture under High Contrast theme

Hello Ernastovich,

You should be able to select and use and image you like for your lock screen.

Hi everyone,

Searched the forums for an answer to a problem like this but came up blank.

I managed to completely mess myself up with one mouse click. D'oh. Essentially, some joker put a theme which set EVERYTHING to black - windows, text fields, text, background, everything - in my theme file and I accidentally hamfistedly clicked it.

This means I can't see a danged thing - I can't see the window if I right click, I can't see what I'm doing to change the theme back to something viewable. So essentially my question is this - is there a way to *force* the theme/colour of your desktop and windows to revert to Windows default BEFORE you finish the boot process - i.e. bios, etc. - or from the cmd line alone? (No regedit - I can type in command line but not in regedit.)

I'd rather not have to do a system restore, I'd lose a bunch of stuff I really don't want to lose!

Thanks in advance for any help,

Bob

Windows 10 v1607 displays the lock screen image on the sign-in screen too, which is pretty cool in my opinion.
But if you wish to display a plain login screen, Open Start Menu, click on Settings.
Open Personalization settings and select Lock screen from the left panel.
Here you will see Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen.
Toggle the button to the Off position.

I just upgraded to Windows 10, and I was really looking forward to some of the new wallpapers that come preinstalled. To get to them, I am using Cortana to go into the classic control panel page to see all of the themes, where the Windows 10 theme is there. When I select the Windows 10 theme, it then displays all of the wallpapers in that theme, when I only want one.
Do you know of any way to select just one image for my background in the default themes that come in Windows 10?
Thanks!

The "original" theme for my windows 10 when I installed it had colorable innersides, after I went into themes and changed it to "default theme" it got stuck as this "default" theme that is all white with custom color borderline. I've tried changing to the other themes but nothing works, I tried resetting I tried everything. At this point the only option I can think of is to go back to windows 7 then reupgrade to windows 10 again and never touch the custom themes.....

I am currently unable to set a lock screen background image (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit). When on the Lock Screen customization window, it is pretty bare with no images to choose from. Browsing and choosing any image results in nothing happening and it does not add it (refer to LockScreen image attached). If I try to set it when viewing any image it has the error "Can't set as lock screen. Make sure the file isn't damaged and try again." (refer to PhotoSet image attached). Also note that the Slideshow option is not in the dropdown either.

Some background on this is probably needed, so here's what has happened/been done:
In Windows 8.1 I customized the default lock screen to a custom image using the guide at http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html (the manual method/Option 2). Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 10 and it set the lock screen to a basic color. Then the fun started...

1. Lock Screen customization appeared normal/functional. Tried choosing a different image or custom image. It would appear set, but lock screen would not change (even after reboot).

2. Tried troubleshooting by taking the same actions as in Windows 8.1. Did the same actions for the new folders that Windows 10 uses in the %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData\ folder (deleted the images within the lettered folder(s)).

I like this new feature in Windows 10 when it randomizes the picture that is shown on the lock screen. What I can't stand are those clickable links that they put on it. These things:

Does anyone know how to remove them?

My main gripe with those links is that I often hit them by mistake when I try to unlock my PC so I then have to either click on an empty space or then close some annoying page that comes up in a web browser. It just kills productivity.

PS. I tried following these steps to use GPOs but it doesn't seem to do anything in my case. I also tried changing in the Settings so that not to allow spotlight, but then it removes this randomized wallpaper thing, which I like. I'm asking only about the links on it.

Answer:How to remove clickable links on the lock screen in Win10?

have you tried navigating to the notifications tab in settings and turning off " Show notifications on the lock screen " ?.. I've never had this on my lock screen so this might be why i don't.. not entirely sure tho.

Answer:Change Windows 8 theme to Window 7 default theme

You can't. If you want the win 7 theme you will have to go with a third party program or theme (style). You can fine a great many themes for win 8 on the internet by using Google, or there is Stardock's Windowblinds which allows you to use hundreds of different themes (though not all of them are worth having) they do have win 7 themes which give you the look you may be looking for (price $9.95). I use a theme which gives we the look of OS X (to each their own). . .Good Luck.

It's very confusing to me that there is a slideshow lockscreen settings in one side, a normal savescreen setting in another. If I had to set my screen to turn off after a certain time or not. Hello,

Hello fellows,
Yesterday I set my Bulgarian keyboard layout to be the default one and my German to be the secondary. Then I shut down and today when I tried to log in, only the Bulgarian layout was enabled (Cyrillic letters) and I can't switch to the German layout (Latin letters). You guessed it - my password uses Latin chars . The key combinations Alt+Shift or Win+Space are not working. Password reset works only with pre-made passdisk or something like that (I haven't set one). I tried going to Troubleshoot mode, but couldn't find anything helpful there yet. Running the command prompt troubleshooting option gave me the opportunity to change the keyboard layout, enter my password and use the cmd prompt. There I tried to use the "control" command to set the keyboard layouts but it doesn't recognise the "control" command. Maybe I have to navigate somewhere else (default was system32).
I would greatly appreciate any help

Thank you

Since today morning I am not able to login to my Win10 PC. It starts normal until the lock Screen appears. The clock in the lock Screen is working, so everything seems to be ok. But the System does not react on any keyboard or mouse Input.
The Keyboard is working perfectly in the BOOT Menue (after F2 during Startup). So I am quite sure that this is not a hardware problem.
Can anyone helb me ?

Answer:Win10 - Lock screen does not react os keyboard or mouse input, what can I do?

I seem to have a similar issue, where my keyboard on one boot works fine at the lock screen, and the next time it does not. When the keyboard doesn't work, neither does the mouse. However, I am able to "swipe up" on my touch screen to enter my pin code.
I think it may be a bug that makes it think a touch screen is enabled without keyboard and mouse, even though my keyboard and mouse are attached. If you're having that issue without a touch screen, then the issue is more serious than I thought.
I wish I had a workaround.

I have tried everything ... enabling classic personalization options ... trying high contrast settings ... etc. However, when I use high contrast settings, I can't use a custom photo/theme/background pic.

Is there any way to keep my custom theme/background on the lock screen AND change from the standard white text to a different color of my choice so that the date, time, and weather can be seen more easily? Because it is so difficult to see the text against many of my backgrounds. I only seem to be able to find settings to change the font size or all of the text, hyperlink colors. But, I want to keep all of my current settings and pics, I just only want to change font color as it relates to the lock screen in windows 10 on my laptop.

If anyone can help, I would very much appreciate it. I have searched high and low, tried dozens of settings and alterations to settings and nothing seems to allow me to change this one thing. So far the only way that I managed to change the font color was to switch to high contrast settings, but that screws up all of my other text color options. There has got to be an easier way to do this. Am I missing something? Please help. I am at my wit's end!

6 out of 10 times when waking it up from sleep instead of showing my lock screen image it'll show just a solid colour, my accent colour.
I've been running Windows insider and have done a system reset, but it still happens (maybe the bug exists in my recovery partition too?).
I'm almost at the point of just doing a complete system reinstall.
Any ideas?

When I first installed WinX it showed a different picture each day in the "pre sign in" lock screen, either for a second or two or until I clicked the sign-in spot. Since I am the administrator I don't have to use a password to sign in, and WinX seems to sometimes, but not always, recognize this and automatically bypasses the sign-in process and goes to the normal wallpaper background after a maybe 1 sec delay. I am using the latest version of Classic Shell and maybe this adds to the OS "confusion".

Since the last Windows Update some days ago (around 2.3 GB if I remember) it shows the SAME picture every day now. In the Personalization lock screen panel it shows:

Background
Slideshow (I selected)
Pictures
"Get fun facts ..." Off
Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen > On

and "Help" does not help

How can I get back the original set-up which changes the sign-in/lock screen picture to change each time or each day?
note: I will not use System Restore and have to reinstall the last update, as I am on a metered Internet access and limited to 1GB hi-speed Internet each day, without which my use of the Internet at 128 kb/sec is basically useless nowadays (as in, almost nothing works these days at that low speed)

Worked fine on windows 8.1 but updated with the RTM of 10 and now the lock screen only works on one screen. Used to work on the 2 screens on the side and not in the middle which was fine but now just on the main screen and the other 2 stay blank. Dunno if its a known issue or not. but all 3 screens work in windows 10 with no other issues.

The Windows 8 lock screen shows the time but not the AM/PM designation. How do you make it to show that? It's not completely necessary but it would be nice to have. For some reason Google did not help me find a solution to this.

Whenever I lock my computer it will show the fingerprint icon with information on scanning my fingerprint. I want it to show my user picture with my name on it and a password field, like it will if I hit "Switch User" and click on my picture.

How do I get it to do this?

Hello,

I don't understand this, so apparently there are to ways to view info from certain apps on the Lock Screen but there are bugs that don't make it work:

1. A Detailed status; selecting the Mail app as for the detailed status doesn't show anything at all. All other apps shown in a detailed status work fine. When viewing the Lockscreen I can see that the Internet connection status in the right below corner has a circle in front of it.

2. A Quick status: NONE of my apps show any info (Mail, Weather, Calendar, messages) when I select them to show a quick status on my Lockscreen.

The Lockscreen I'm checking out is the one you get when pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then choosing the "Lock" option.

What's the problem here and how can I solve this?

Answer:Apps don't show info on Lock screen

Could this be moved to the General discussion since it's about the general Apps that come with Windows 10? Thank you.

Hi,

I've recently been testing out some face login programs, and although I have now uninstalled them all, it seems that my lock screen setup has been affected.

Whenever I *previously* used to lock my screen (using either Windows Key-L or after being woken from sleep or hibernation), it would show my user account tile with my user name, and under that was the password box (as in the picture below)

But now, when I lock my screen using Windows-L or when it locks automatically after being woken from sleep or hibernation, it just shows a smaller tile with my user name under it (as in the picture below), and the switch user button under it, but nowhere to enter a password.

I have to click on the tile and then that takes me to the first screen shown above where I am able to then enter the password. I know it seems a little picky but I did prefer the setup I had previously.

I've already tried changing the following settings in Local Security Policy without success:
Display user information when the session is locked
Do not display last user name
Does anyone know what I can do so that the lock screen with the password box is shown immediately (first pic above) when the computer is locked?

thanks in advance!

Answer:Lock screen doesn't show password box

Well, its seems to have fixed itself after I did a reboot... Also had to do a couple of system restores because some of my startup icons weren't appearing in the system tray...

Hi guys
First of all I'm very sorry if my English is not perfect, it is only my 3rd language.
Today I installed Windows 10 TP on my old HP Touchsmart tm2 laptop. First it all went well, I was able to log in and search for updates (iso is the first build). But after a few minutes the screen went of for about 3 seconds (black) and came on again only to turn dark again, come back and turn dark again. There it stopped. It's not totally dark, back lighting is still on I think. It actually felt like the laptop tried to switch to an external monitor 3 times until it finally managed to find one. But there is no external monitor connected! I tried to restart the pc several times but luck. I only get to the windows logo, after that I get a dark screen instead of the login screen. I also tried to actually connect an external monitor via VGA but it shows the same dark on the monitor.
I reinstalled Windows 10 TP and it all went the same way again.
When I tried to start in safe mode, I was able to login but couldn't open any apps/programs, not even the start menu. Ctrl+Shift+Esc finally worked and I could then run explorer.exe and get to the control panel.
Now I have no idea how I can get this laptop to work properly. What next steps do you guys recommend. I really appreciate your help!
Thank you!

Answer:Why does my laptop show a black screen minutes after Win10 TP installation?

Sounds like the Intel HD driver is not happy with that laptop. Perhaps boot into Safe Mode (F4 at boot) and see if that is stable.
Check you have the latest BIOS installed too. Probably from your older OS (Win7/8).

HI I have 2 users here on win8 RTM enterprises both have their own lockscreens but sometimes if the system didn't shutdown properly (maybe) a default screen / image appears how can I change that ?

p.s is it possible to change logon screen (which has all the users)

Answer:Changing Default Lock screen

I was working on that on Win8 Pro.
2 users, different lock screens, but neither shows, it shows the default spire one. Hate that one

they are located in C:\Windows\Web\Screen which is owned by trustedinstaller. I would not change that, by trying to take ownership of the folder.
So I am trying to figure out how to get this to stop.

Took ownership of the individual files one at a time (only way i could) and moved them out.
Did this for both users. Then deleted, C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\LockScreen_U
You will see several depending on how many different ones you have tried. It is a cache only and they will be recreated. so it's ok to delete them.

Didn't work. so they are cached elsewhere as well. I didn't work on it very long, but will.
I am sure someone will come up with a better alternative.

So, I changed around my lock screen a bit. One thing I did was change a quick status icon from flashlight (showed battery level) to the Fitbit option. As of right now, the status icon shows the Fitbit icon, but the number still shows the battery level from when I changed it. I closed and reopened both apps, and changed the quick status to none and then back to Fitbit in the lock screen settings, and that didn't work. Any ideas?
Also, what is even supposed to show for the Fitbit quick status icon? Obviously not steps since it's limited to two digits.

On my Win8.1 machine, I set the lock screen display (as shown in the image) as opposed to the default one.
But sometimes after shutting down my notebook after longer periods of time, it changes back to the default lock screen display. Why is this?

When the lock screen kicks in after a certain amount of idle time, it does stay on the setting that I had chosen, but sometimes after a long periods of shutdown, booting back up the system changes the lock screen display to the default one.

I had done nothing as far as security lockdowns or anything like that.

Answer:Lock Screen Display changes to Default after shutting down

Hello win8freak,

In Windows 8 and 8.1 there are two "Lock" screens.

The user lock screen is the one that displays when a user locks the PC while still signed in to Windows, and when the user is selected on the sign in screen, times out, and returns to the lock screen. Each user is able to change their lock screen background image to an image of their choice. The default Lock screen image is the one that displays when there are no users currently signed in to Windows or selected on the sign in screen.

If this is the lock screen showing when no users are signed in, then it's the default lock screen.

So I've been enjoying Windows 10 plenty for the most part, but I've run into my first potentially hair-tearing issue. I would like to add the Mail and Calendar apps to display more detailed information on my lock screen (simple enough, right?), however when I get to the Personalisation window to do this, I find that neither of those apps are available to add (and many others are absent as well)!!

Is anyone else experiencing this annoying problem? I'm using Windows 10 Pro, if that means anything. :P

I keep resetting it, via PC and Devices >> Lock Screen >> Lock Screen Preview

Answer:Lock Screen on Windows 8.1 keeps reverting to default

Hello Theo,

There are two types of lock screens in Windows 8/8.1. One is the user's lock screen that displays when they are signed in and lock the PC. The other is the default lock screen that displays when no users are signed in.

This is the lock screen when you have multiple users created on a single Windows 8 System and they are all logged off

The default is the Spire Background. I want to change this but can not find it's location

I tried renaming and deleting the image from C:\Windows\Web\Screen ,, this did not work
ie; I copied a wallpaper over and gave it the same name as this one,, it is img100.jpg

A registry key pointing to something embedded

I did a search in Registry for img100.jpg but came up empty.

I just recently received a new Lenovo computer with Windows 10 already installed onto it. Wanting to personalize it, I went into the Lock Screen Settings and clicked the tab to change it from Windows Spotlight to Picture. However, none of my pictures showed up and it automatically reverted back to Windows Spotlight after exiting out of Settings. When opening a Picture and clicking the Set As Lock Screen tab a box comes up that reads:
Can't Set As Lock Screen
Make sure the file isn't damaged, and try again
Nothing appears to be wrong with the photo file, and to make sure it wasn't just that photo I checked several others, including some of the sample pictures that came pre-installed with Windows 10. The same box popped up for all of them.
How can I fix this?
Any help at all will be welcomed.

As you said you have already checked that lockscreen background is set to Picture or slideshow. Ensure its not set to Windows Spotlight images . Just set it to Spotlight and then set it back to Picture. And Apply.
Also Check from the region settings, language and speech settings are set to EN-US. If not set it & see if it helps.
Also check from Settings > Privacy > Location and ensure Location for this device is ON. Try these things & see if it helps.

A week ago I switched on my PC (Windows 10 Pro 64 bit with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics card) which had previously been working and on which I had made no changes. It went through the normal boot. There are 5 users and normally it gets to the default lock screen (beach from cave) which I hit enter to display the user list. But this time instead of the lock screen it displayed a blue screen with rotating dots. Windows 10 Home x64 Dutch version / from upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (pre-installed on PC)
Keyboard:: US International (English / QWERTY)
Language: Dutch (homelanguage)

When PC starts up the Default Lock screen at Start Up with Secure Sign-in enabled
appears. In the lower left corner of the screen appears : TIME, day & date.

In my area, time-zone, country (the Netherlands):
TIME, day & data appear in: < Dutch >
This was properly displayed in Dutch.

I did not change or define other languages.

After a start-up of the PC the TIME, day & date appear in < English >.
This happens now after each PC Start-Up of Windows 10 Home x64.

Questions:
Is it possible to reset the Englisch language (example: 20:00 Sunday, february 7)
to Dutch (example: 20:00 Zondag, 7 februari) ? How to fix this ?

What could have changed this setting ? (I have no idea).

The display of time & date in the taskbar is correct.
Keyboard: US Int. QWERTY / Country: NLD.
Within programs time & date is correct too.

It is just the first Start-Up screen, with Time, day and date info.
When this screen disappears the login screen to W10 appears.

Thanks for your response.
Wim

Answer:W10 Home Premium x64: Default Lock Screen - language changed

Log on, goto start menu, click settings, click personalize, it is there (I think)
P.S. It is not Win10HomePremium it will be Home because there is Enterprise, Pro and Home.

The dots sometimes made complete circles and sometimes started to make a circle get part way round then jump to the beginning. Mouse+keyboard was not responding. I could access the shared content from another PC. I had previously setup the PC to accept Remote Desktop connection. Answer:Rotating dots on blue background instead of default lock screen

A blue screen with rotating dots? That's the Windows loading screen, I get it everytime I boot my PC. (Not for too long, though)
Honestly I don't think it's a GPU problem, it looks like something is causing your Windows to load for a long time.

For the life of me I cannot find how to change Windows 8 default 24 hours time back to 12 hour AM and PM time. I cannot stand 24 hour time at all, hate it with a passion.

Any help appreciated.

Answer:24 Hour Time - Can u change it to 12 hour?

Microsoft told me to go to Control Panel > Clock Language and Region > Region

Apparently I had to set the Format to English (Australia) as it was on English (UK)

Don't know why the UK one is 24 hour and the Australian one is 12 hour. Seem stupid. But I'm happy o have 12 hour back.

Hello, I like seeing AM/PM on any time value. I already know if it's AM or PM, but it looks more Proper to see the AM or the PM with whatever time it is.

What Registry modification/Program can help me achieve this?

Thanks

Answer:AM/PM For The Time At The Lock Screen

You can change the time format, how time is shown on Windows notification area freely but AM / PM is regardless of your settings never shown in Windows Clock and lock screen if 24 hour clock has been selected.

To change how time is shown on Windows desktop, select Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Region, click Additional settings:

Now change time formats manually typing any of the following values for short time. Add :ss for long time for seconds:

h:mm
12 hour clock, no leading zero, no AM / PM

h:mm tt
12 hour clock, no leading zero, with AM / PM

hh:mm
12 hour clock, with leading zero, no AM / PM

hh:mm tt
12 hour clock, with leading zero, with AM / PM

H:mm
24 hour clock, no leading zero, no AM / PM

H:mm tt
24 hour clock, no leading zero, with AM / PM

HH:mm
24 hour clock, with leading zero, no AM / PM

HH:mm tt
24 hour clock, with leading zero, with AM / PM

Here I have selected 24 hour clock with AM / PM, but it's only shown in notification area. Opening clock does not show AM / PM, nor does lock screen, whatever settings I have chosen as long as I am using 24 hour clock:

Using 12 hour clock AM / PM is always shown in Clock and lock screen if selected.

Is there any way to keep the lock screen from shutting me down if I don't do anything on the keyboard for a minute or 2 minutes, or whatever it is? I followed some instructions that I found on the internet that involve adding ".bak" or ".backup" to the lock screen file in "SystemApps" but it didn't have any effect. Then I clicked on "Settings" in the Start menu and got totally lost in all that stuff.

I have lumia 1520 and after the recent update my phone would only recognize the SD card as having other files. So I hard reset the phone without deleting the music I had on the SD After resetting the phone the SD was recognized with all the files I had in it but the music that I have with XBM subscription will play and show the artist art in the app but doesn't show it on the lock screen or live tile. The artist I do have stored on my SD card that I own all show the artist image on the tile and lock screen. I'm not sure if I have to reformat the card or not but I would prefer not to since I have around 12 gb of music on it. Thank in advance!

Recently on my Car pc, Groove decided to stop all those handy features that made it feasible to be a car radio, such as the remote control over a bluetooth device or the lock screen widget. I believe it happened after an update. Any way to resolve that?

Answer:Groove no longer controls over media keys and doesn't show a widget on the lock screen. What do?

To do a soft reset, simply hold down the power button until the phone vibrates and restarts itself.

Anyone else seeing this issue? If I put my tablet into standby when I wake it I don't get the lock screen and it just goes straight to the start screen or whatever app I was using. If I put it into standby again then I'll get the lock screen the next time I wake it but then the next time it won't appear again. I've checked and it's literally every other time.

Answer:Lock screen only appears every other time

No-one else? I tried doing a refresh and setting up a PIN and it's still doing the same thing here. Not good for device security.

Windows 8 keeps locking the screen, seems maybe 1 minute after not touching it. I would like to set that to something like 20 minutes, but I can't see where to do that?

Answer:How do I set the time limit for screen lock

Try looking in Control Panel under Power Option settings.
You can adjust for Battery and Power options / to your needs.

Hello, I used to use a reg file for Windows 8.1 to customize the time until the screen turns off during the Lock Screen Time Out. I want to know if that command still applies for Windows 10.

The reg file command is:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen]
"SlideshowDuration"=dword:000493e0
(where the screen turns off after 5 minutes).

I have the formula to figure out what you need to calculate to insert after "dword" for the amount of time until the screen times out (goes black). Ask me for the formula... as long as the above works.

Thanks

Answer:Lock Screen Slideshow Time Out

Never mind. I went into the Registry and checked it out.

Yes, the same exact rules apply here like in Windows 8.1
