Microsoft Preinstall Apps don't work (Edge, Windows Store etc.)

Question: Microsoft Preinstall Apps don't work (Edge, Windows Store etc.)

Hi guys!

I'm having this problem since yesterday, and I can't find anyone with the same problem.
I have this problem where no microsoft applications work. I can't open Edge, Windows Store or Photos app. When I want to open them, there is absolutely 0 response. No error-message, nothing! When I observe the task manager while starting these apps, they DO appear for like, 1 second. They immediately disappear though.
I don't know what the issue is. I have this problem since I installed the application: SaferVPN (I already uninstalled it).
Ou yea, my Windows search doesn't work either. No reaction from the system at all.

I already tried running sfc /scannow.
My computer is up to date.
There were no windows updates involved at the point of time where the problem occurred.
I tried restarting windows several times.

I run Windows 10 for quite a long time now. Also, when I want to add a Microsoft Account, it give no response either. (I think thats because it usually opens a small Edge Browser Windows for entering the credentials.

Can you guys please help me? I usually find my solutions in already existing forums, but I didn't find anyone who had the same problem as me (perhaps I didn't google the right thing and couldn't find it because of that.)

Thanks for anything in advance.
Kind Regards,
Maarten

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Preinstall Apps don't work (Edge, Windows Store etc.)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi smaardy, welcome to Ten Forums. The best way right now to fix your problem is by doing an repair install/ in place upgrade. This is from the Tutorial Forum. Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums . Choose the option to keep your apps and files. There was a way to re-register the windows apps, but it has not been working with the latest version of windows (fall update or version 1511).

I've been having this problem since I upgraded to the creator's update. Sometimes everything works perfectly, but most of the time I have these issues:

Edge won't connect to internet or load anythingI can't close tabs in EdgeThe "Close all tabs" option in edge doesn't work, only closes 1 tabI can only get Edge to close using Task ManagerWindows Store apps like Twitter and Netflix won't connect and also sometimes won't closeI can't check for Windows updates through settings (won't connect again)

The internet works on third party apps that weren't downloaded in the Windows Store, like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Spotify. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how I could fix it? Thanks so much!

Answer:Internet Not Working in Edge & Windows Store Apps, Edge Won't Close

Hi ineedhelppls. Welcome to the TenForums @ineedhelppls

First thing I would do is run these commands at command prompt(admin). In the following commands do not key in the information in brackets, it is there to tell you what command does.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)

Test.

Then I would disable IPv6. You will notice it can be enabled just as easy.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...nts-in-windows

If you still get issues I would recommend a network reset. You will lose wireless passwords.

Start=>Settings=>Network and Internet=> scroll down to bottom on the right hand side, last option, Network Reset.

If a person has apps from the Microsoft store, do they have to be repurchased if you reinstall Windows 8 or are they like Apple's App Store where there is no cost to reinstall?

Answer:Microsoft store apps question on reinstalling Windows 8

You will be able to reinstall your apps again from Your apps in the Store without having to repurchase them. Option One in the tutorial below can help show you how to if you like.

Solution: Win+R > taskschd.msc > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > TextServicesFramework. Right click MsCtfMonitor and choose Enable. Reboot your PC.

Task missing? If you do not see the task, you can get it back by importing the following XML file as a task.

http://files.cnblogs.com/files/asion/MsCtfMonitor.xml

Just right click and save it to your desktop and then goto your Task Scheduler and in the top menu choose: Action > Import Task and choose the XML file. You can then delete the XML file and reboot your PC for it to take effect.

Hello,

My keyboard does not work within Windows Store and it's Apps. I cannot type anything in the search of the store, or within the Xbox App. I can right click and paste in information and click "Go" and that works just fine. But just no keyboard input works. Keyboard works fine everywhere else.

I've googled the issue and I can't find ANY other people have this issue. I think it might be related to when I completely removed Cortana and SearchUI, but I am not sure.

Any ideas of what might be wrong?

Came across this by accident after just watching a video. Haven't seen any post about it on this forums so, here it is. You simply press the following combination of keyboard keys, and Edge, or any other Windows Store application instantly enters full-screen mode:Ctrl + Win + Enter
Press the same combination of keyboard keys to exit full-screen mode, or hover you mouse pointer to the top right corner of your screen and click the exit full-screen button.
Not sure why this handy feature isn't readily accessible via a shortcut in Edge's overflow menu, but that's typical of microsoft...

Just like it happened in Windows 8, Windows 10 requires users to log in with a Microsoft account in order to install apps from the Store, but this is no longer valid for those whose computers are powered by the Pro SKU of the operating system.

German website WIndowsArea has discovered that Microsoft suddenly made a policy change that makes it possible for Windows 10 Pro users to install apps from the Windows Store without the need for a Microsoft Account.

There are some limitations though. First of all, only freeware applications can be installed, so if you want to purchase an app, an account is still required.

Then, if you?re trying to update a paid application that?s already installed on your Windows 10 device, an account is once again needed.

Why the change?
Microsoft hasn?t explained why exactly it made this change, but given the fact that it concerns the Pro version of the operating system, it?s not difficult to see that the company specifically targeted companies that are trying to get more control over what users install on their systems.

On the other hand, it?s not yet clear if the Enterprise SKU of Windows 10 can also install apps without a Microsoft account because reports in this regard are still mixed, with some claiming that it works, while others indicating that it doesn?t.

Without a doubt, installing apps from the Windows Store without an account can boost adoption of Store apps, but we?ve reached out to Microsoft to find out if this is inde... Read more

Hello,
For a long time my computer was running very slowly but did not have time to do anything about until lately I have been receving a lot of junk emails and started feeling suspicious and searched the web.

Yesterday night I have downloaded Malwarebytes and after scanning, it detected 14 issues which have been quarantine. Today when I started the computer the Edge and Store icon were gone from the task bar and all Apps downloaded from the Store and already installed by Windows like Calendar etc. have gone too, not even in the list of the Apps. The whole configuration of Start has changed and all the apps present are defined new, and on recent used, there are apps I have never downloaded and never used. Those apps that were in the Start Menu on the right have completely gone.

Edge works because when I try to open a file from Windows Mail, as Edge is default browser, it opens but when i narrow it, it just disappears and cannot find it anywhere.

When I opened Windows Mail there was a bill from my telephone company and just after some minutes another arrived which looked just the same but when I opened it ,it had an attachment rar file and it was obvious it was not from the company, (they never send me the bill I have to log into their website to download it) so discard it as junk. But for sure there was a virus in there. So I am starting to freak out that there is something going on in the computer.

If I use another account user in the same computer Edge and Store are th... Read more

Recently dropped my Asus T100 on the floor and it needs replacing. On the windows store on it I have MS office (don't know which version). Will this work on a separate machine if I sign in to the store with the same account?

Answer:Do apps that your purchased on the windows store work on replica devices?

Well. Depending on the Office license you have you can install it on n machines.
You can check it here if you have a office license:https://stores.office.com/myaccount/home.aspx
Normal apps can simply be redownloaded via the store or might - depending on your settings - be downloaded automatically as soon as you connect with your Microsoft account

I have been facing this issue from the day one since I installed Windows 10 on my laptop (Dell XPS L502x).

Native Windows Applications like all browsers, office products etc. anything that is not from the Store, works fine. I can use Touch Pad scrolling with no trouble. e.g. on Internet Explorer, Chrome, MS Word, etc.

But the apps that come out of store or the apps like those which come pre-built with Windows 10 such as new Settings UI, Microsoft Edge. Touch Pad scrolling just don't work with these apps. When I perform scrolling the scroll-icon appears but doesn't scroll the content.

This issue is only with Touch Pad. External Mouse works great with scrolling on any kind of app.

Hope to find a solution here.
Thanks

PS: drivers are all good on the machine and up to date with no warning or error.

Hello community. First of all I want to thanks this forum because it helped me to solve the "Temporary Profile" issue which is super annoying. I didn't lose any file or pre installed app, except Windows Store and Edge. I reall don't know how to fix this. The tutorial from this forum I used was this: You've been signed in with a temporary profile - Fix

I had to add a built in administration profile in order to recover the damaged profile, and as indicated on the tutorial you have to erase a bak file in order to do so. After rebooting I dont see any Store app or Edge app or nether the search bar of windows may find it. If you guys know how to fix this I will really appreciate it!!! Answer:No default apps, store, edge and other stuff..

Hello, it's possible you had a conflicting program installed when you upgraded.
Normally if someone has a major problem having had Win 10 working, an in-place upgrade repair install is a fall-back solution.

You could try running
chkdsk C: /F
(your PC will restart to do this)
Post back the result, which will be on the screen briefly.
Otherwise you can get the result as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!
and then
sfc /scannow
from an admin command prompt
(Press Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin) )

and advise the result (in the CBS.LOG file).
If the only failures reported are opencl.dll or some audio files, you can ignore those.

Please complete your system specs and advise what OS you upgraded from.

Dear Support,

I have an in-house web application that accesses Windows network locations, using something like this:

<a href: file://<file-location>>Click here</a>

The internal website is added to Trusted Sites, with security settings to allow the application to open folders/files within our network.

In Internet Explorer, on Windows 7, this works fine.
On Windows 10, although this still works fine in Internet Explorer (without any messages), Edge prompts the user to confirm the irritating Did you mean to switch apps? message.
Can this be removed/overwritten/anything?!

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The Microsoft Store on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 14 / Windows 10 version 1607) does not work. A screen capture is included in this post. The issue started a few weeks ago, before the last few updates. I have attempted several fixes that I have found on the Internet, all with no success. I have done the clear and reset fix - i.e. wsreset.exe. I have done several power shell command fixes with no success. The last thing I did was a system file system check - i.e. sfc /scannow and everything was fine. The issue occurs even on a newly created user. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hi guys, hope someone can fix this:Lenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager, Help and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.Is there a solution or Fixit for this odd behaviour?I'm guessing without really knowing it, that most of the user interface windows like Store and Control panel and Start menu is linked to Edge and that is the one having the bug. Like some linux distro's have chromium integrated and if removed it crashes because that is the Graphic Engine that runs it all.Hope someone can answer this cause it driving me nuts!Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - Ihave the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places. With kind regardsJBJScrolling right now in Firefox - If i go to Edge or Store, its not working.

Answer:Windows 10 Touchpad scroll problem - work in Firefox but not Edge or modern apps

Hi Insomniac1971,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

Do you know which touchpad hardware you have example: Synaptics or Elantech?

Also try to uninstall and reinstall the current touchpad drivers (via Device manager in control panel) and reboot the machine, this may also help you to get your touchpad scroll work again.

After a reboot, just start checking for updates from windows update to start download and installation of the updated drivers.

Please let me know, whether the above steps helped you.
Thank you, Have a good day.

Hello
I have upgraded Lumia 730 to anniversary updates.
After that I am facing hell lot of issues.
Lots of apps (Phone, Store, Edge browser.. many more) are not visible and other apps are not working properly.
What should I do?
Why Microsoft releasing buggy updates.
It just scrap my phone.

Answer:In-build apps(Phone, Store, Edge.. so on) are not visible after anniversary updates on lumia 730

make sure to check for updates in the store.
sometimes you have to give the phone to settle down after the update.
try a soft reset.
if all else fails, hard reset.

Answer:Is Microsoft Edge updatable through the store

Edge is a Store app and can be updated through the Windows Store. This is so they can update it more often without having to update the entire computer.

Have a laptop with Windows 10. as of this am, not much of anything will start.. Windows Edge when started blinks screen, and then goes away, as does Microsoft Solitaire Collection, and most other games I have tried. Other apps seem to be ok, and when I went into perfmon /reports, it says that a "service has ended abnormally", and solution is to restart service. I would if I knew which service is not running. I looked under recovery, and there is an option to RESET PC, but says although files will be kept all apps and settings will be gone, so I don't think I want to run that.. tried to run sfc /scannow, and It comes back and says I have to be admin to run, but my user id HAS admin access.. reboot doesn't help, all comes back normal, but same results with trying to get anything to run.. When I initially installed WIndows 10 I know that I had enabled system protection and created restore points, but can't even try that now, as it says that there are no more restore points out there, and system protection was turned off.. I didn't turn it off, so really am at a loss with next step to try. There must be something I can run to do a repair of Windows 10, or is there an app available out there to purchase that will do this, or am I pretty much out of luck?

After spending time on this,,, sfc /scannow works,, dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth now work...Went into troubleshooting and did troubleshooting on Windows Store Application.. it chugs a long time, and ... Read more

Answer:Microsoft Store Apps won't run

Hi frustrated.
I think major upgrades turn off system protection so you need to check that after ever cumulative update.
I think the store cache corruption is a common issue and may have been the result is the recent widespread issue with system restore. My store cache is corrupted also but my store still works. Very strange.

In order to run SFC you need to select command prompt run as admin and you need to run it three times with a reboot each time.
SFC Command - Run in Windows 10
If it can not repair everything then you'll need to run DISM and then try SFC again.
DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image

If these fail then you might be able to set everything right (except the store cache) by doing a repair in place install. You can choose to save all your apps and data. Take a look at the tutorial.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
Be sure to backup all of your data just in case anything goes wrong.

Hi,
I have to take care for multiple computers for our youth work. It are windows 10 computers with multiple local users (administrators). Computers are clean installed at the beginning of this year.
Windows 10 makes me very unhappy, cause very often Store apps stop functioning. I?ve had troubles with the photos app, the calculator app and the store itself. A user starts the pc and calculator/photo or store app does not work any longer. The app is found in the search result, but it?s icon is white. And under it the text ?desktop app?. No joke: the store pretends to be a desktop app.
I read some other posts on your forum about not working apps or not working store. But ?my? apps and store think they are desktop programs.
When there are problems not all the users on the pc have the problem. Mostly it?s okay for one user, and for all the other users it is corrupt.
I found a work around: make a new user. And for the new user all apps work.
But I get a fulltime job creating new users and giving the user?s documents and settings back.
Does anybody know a way to PREVENT the loss of functionality of the modern apps?
Does anybody know a way to REPAIR the broken modern apps? I found some Powershell magic on the internet, but that did not help.
I?d be very grateful for any help.
Koen

Looks like some corruptions issues for your user profile.
See if any fixes under Widows 10 tab of FixWin 10 help you. It will also let you run DISM to repair your system image and run system file checker with a click. Do that.

First, each time I try to wake my computer up from sleep, it crashes, i get the sad face and it tells me it needs to restart.
Second, Edge and the Store wont connect to the internet. It seems to be something with my Microsoft account. IE, Cortana, Steam etc. else connect fine.
Has anyone else had these issues?

Are Microsoft store apps legal? Never thought I would ask that question. I see a lot of free movie apps being offered. The ad you see at the top could pay for the movies. I find very odd though. Especially, since some of free movies are also available for rent or purchase at the Microsoft store.

Answer:Are Microsoft store apps legal?

The apps are not necessarily illegal anymore than owning or using a gun is necessarily illegal. Owning it or using it may be illegal of course depending on your country of residence.

I am surprised that MS host such tools though - poor vetting?

While trying to burn a dual layer DVD with the Power2Go burner application, I discovered that it is set to write temp files to Drive C. (specifically the C:/Users/name/AppData/Local/Temp directory).  While trying to burn a 6 Gb mpeg file to a DVD I started getting error messages from Power2Go that there was not enough room on the hard drive to make the burn.  Turns out the C drive was almost full, will only about 1 Gb free!!!!!!Temp files created by the Power2Go application are about the size of the image to be burned, which in the case of a dual layer DVD, could be up to 8.5 Gb. Why oh Why has Lenovo partioned the Y510 with the big D drive for data, and yet set up all the preloaded apps to use the miniscule C drive for data like this?I strongly approve of the concept of Lenovo partioning scheme, but the execution is AWFUL!  Especially since this is a consumer level product where the target user would not be expected to have experience at solving these kind of problems. (and why doesn't Lenovo make it more obvious to end users that they should install all applications and their directories on the D drive also....?)Has Lenovo provided any instructions on how prevent this, or at least how to move the C:\Users\ directory to the D drive? (the C:\Users\ directory properties does NOT have a location tab that allows you to remap it to the D drive.  And I suspect that even if that could be done, it might cause big problems with the install of other appli... Answer:Why do preinstall apps on Y510 USE DRIVE C?

Isn't this more of an individual programming issue?  I installed a program today that creates two different folders in the program files folder.  It turns out that one folder was saved to the D drive, and the other to the C drive, so obviously the program didn't work...It seems to me that since this particular program uses an older program plus an overlay, the older system wasn't designed to check the root drive of the operating system before installing its files.  The newer part of the program must have been designed to do this.

Hello there! I purchased and upgraded to Microsoft Windows 10! Finally, right?

But anyways, I've spent the last few days customizing all my options and settings that I had back on Windows 8.1. Takes hours to do all that. Got all my settings saved as text with directions. Anyways, I've ran into a problem that seems difficult to fix. My version of Windows 10 is the Anniversary Edition, for what I've read and when I've downloaded it.

So there are two icons in the Taskbar that cannot seem to get unpinned; Microsoft Edge & Store. I right click on them, yet there is no unpin option (check the attached image). Is there any other workaround yet for removing those two icons at all? Some Registry edit or something?

Answer:Cannot Unpin Microsoft Edge & Store Icons From The Taskbar

I left the Store but did Unpin Edge from Taskbar on my Win10 Pro. I did put Internet Explorer on so wonder if that makes a difference? Also have Firefox and SeaMonkey there.

At its Build developer conference last week, Microsoft made a pair of announcements about Windows development that were more than a little surprising: Windows will support applications developed for iOS and Android.

This immediately felt like a dangerous move. Windows will not be the first operating system to run foreign applications. Famously, IBM advertised OS/2 as a "Better Windows than Windows" in the 1990s, boasting that its platform would run all your existing Windows applications with greater stability and performance. More recently, BlackBerry 10 included support for Android applications, with BlackBerry licensing the Amazon App Store and using it as its gateway to a world of Android-compatible software.

Neither OS/2 nor BlackBerry 10 has made a success of this capability. There are two major problems with supporting foreign applications on a niche platform. The first is straightforward: it removes any incentive for developers to bother with the native platform. Investing in developing for a minor platform is already something of a gamble, and by telling developers "Oh hey, you can just use your existing Win16 or Android program..." as IBM and BlackBerry (respectively) did, you're implicitly sending them a message. "Don't bother learning our platform or writing native apps for it."Click to expand...

Hi all,
I have a WIN 8 HP Laptop. New last Feb. In August, *all* WIN 8 Metro tiles stopped working and I cannot access the Store. When clicking on the apps, they try to open and then close immediately.
I have tried:
-WSRESET.EXE and that will not run either. The MSG is "program failed to start".
-SFC /scannow - No resolution
-DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

As I use this laptop for work and hve many work apps installed, I am trying not to have to fully revert to day 1.
Microsoft support advised to take the WIN 8 CD and just reinstall the OS. They promised that if I did this it would resolved the issues and NOT destroy any installed apps.
Any advise would be GREAT!
Many Thanks in advance! My email is <snip>

Hi clayto.

Does your tablet, from your specs, have cellular and wi-fi. If so what happens if you disable, for a short period, the cellular?

As well any chance you have enabled "Metered Connection" in your Wi-Fi settings?

Start => Settings => Network and Internet => Wi-Fi

then click on your current connection.

Hello,
I have been using Windows 10 for just over a year (a recent convert from mac OS). i hope you guys can help me out.

I recently got infected with 3 trojans. Bitdefender picked them, quarantined them but after every reboot they came back. So I downloaded Malwarebytes which not only quarantined them effectively but also identified several more that bitdefender had not picked up. Now every thing is fine except for the following issues:

I cannot log on to microsoft account, cannot open store, use cortana, edge does not open, and weather app and Xbox do not open. I gave microsoft remote access but after several hours they came to the conclusion that system restore is the only option. Id like to avoid that since then I will loose my MS Office for which i dont have the original key anymore.

I have myself tried almost every trick mentioned on the internet - powershell, sfc/scannow but to no avail. If I create amother user, I can logon to my microsoft account from settings but store, edge, cortana, weather, xbox still do not open. Disabling malewarebytes, bitdefender or Zonealarm firewall do not help either.

I thought id post the Malewarebytes quarantine file here to see which registry key is causing this. I deleted the quarantined files so unfortunately cannot restore. Please any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi mab5555 and welcome to Ten Forums.

Maybe some expert will comment on that infections later. But with mess like this clean install is almost always best solution.
If Office key is only drawback, try Speccy or Belarc advisor they usually provide original keys of installed software.

One thing I don't quite get... System restore is like system backup and Office should stay intact, but it is difficult to predict exact time of infection and pick correct restore point.

Other possible solution is so called inplace upgrade (tutorial link). Download ISO of Windows 10 from MS site and let the setup run. ISO should be of the same language as your current install.

If you want to be able to restore your current Windows install (if anything get lost) make a system backup with Macrium reflect free.

So the 29th of July i went ahead and installed the Windows 10 update. It installed correctly and ran smooth without any problems for a few hours. Suddenly i realized that my Start Menu button didn't open the start menu when i clicked it. Neither did the search button.

I didn't really think about it much and continued gaming with one of my friends. Later that night i tried to restart my pc to see if that fixed any of my issues. Unfortunately nothing was fixed.

Now i can't open any microsoft apps (other than the Health and training app through the Task Manager and then the apps tab). Theres no way to access the settings or Windows Update so im stuck with just using non-microsoft apps if i can find them that is under my HDD.

(Edit) I can't rightclick anything in the taskbar or manage my internet connection.

Any help to fix this is highly appriciated.

Methods i have tried found around the internet:

Hi guys, hope someone can fix this:

Lenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager, Help and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.

Is there a solution or Fixit for this odd behaviour?

I'm guessing it a bug in windows registry, but don't know where to find it. I have been through most that has to do with ALPS. Maybe someone here know where the registry settings for the MS software scroll option are.

Hope someone can answer this, cause it driving me nuts!

Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - I have the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places.

I tried getting MS support engineers at MS forum, to take a look at it, but they have this attitude that its driver issue and not Windows bug. Besides that, they never read the question before dishing out some standard solution like "try going to safe mode to see if the problem persist" - That is not going to work, since the drivers that control the scroll will not load in safe mode and then scroll will not work at all, a "real" technician would know that.

With kind regards

I was given a Windows 8.1 tablet that once had a detachable keyboard which the guy lost. he reset the whole computer and after I got my information on it instead. After the reset, Windows was no longer activated and I had to reactivate it. which neither of us knows why, it was activated before we did a data factory reset. after I created my user, I installed a bunch of exes. now I go to try to see if I could test out the Windows Store to search for apps. but I search "Windows Store" or "app store" and several other things that may bring it up, but it always says, "no apps match your search" like if the Windows store is missing or somehow magically removed with the reset process. How do I get it back?

Answer:How do I delete apps from my account in the Windows apps store?

Sure. You could opt out of syncing those apps to your PC by going to PC Settings and finding the sync settings there, and you can cancel the downloads at the Windows Store.

As a standard suggestion - try restarting your device, checking your internet connection, checking time and region settings, checking if your microsoft account is syncing properly or not
What device is this? A pc or mobile?

First off Hello everybody and sorry this is my first post I am normally just a lurker. This forum, even though I have never posted ,has been a huge help with quite a few things and a great resource in general.

Trying to clear out the All Apps list on the start menu. Most apps I have uninstalled and utility folders deleted. The 3 things left on there that I would still like to remove are Cortana, Microsoft Edge, and Settings. I do not want to uninstall Cortana or Microsoft Edge. I simply do not want those three things to appear in the list. i.e. I deleted the Administrative Tools folder from programdata/microsoft/windows/startmenu which stops the shortcuts from appearing in the list but I still have access to all the things within.

I know its small but its important. On a side note I could have sworn i read somewhere that microsoft was going to be updating their upgrade system so you no longer had to do an in place upgrade before you could do a clean install. Does anybody know anything about that or is that not a thing. I do not seem to be able to find the original article I was reading and may have misread.

It may sound like a newbie question, but why doesn't MS actually pay the likes of "snapchat" devs, for instance, to develop the same app they did for iOS, for example.
It could become some kind of contest for some time. The more essential the app for the Windows ecosystem at the moment, the more chance you have to get paid by MS to develop it, and even sustain it (maintenance) until Windows has a sufficient ecosystem of apps to be appealing to the majority of devs.
I know it could be a multi billion $$ endeavour, but isn't MS in dire need of app developers? It seems like the whole MS strategy is now based on developing apps for the store.

Answer:Why doesn't Microsoft pay the official devs to build the most on demand apps for the Widows Store ?

I think Dan talked about that and why that wouldn't work in the long run...
1. The devs would be dependent on payments... So Microsoft would be expected to pay for every update or something...
2. Snapchat just doesn't like Windows...
3. I forgot, but there are more points as to why this isn't the way to go...
I think Microsoft just has to make it very, very clear as to why devs should come over, but if it isn't clear enough by the numbers, features, capabilities, etc, then good luck winning over developers, therefore apps, therefore less users.
For now

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on troubleshooting the following issue!

To explain, Windows 8 Pro (X64) was installed by way of a clean install utilising audit mode to configure the User Profile folder location to a new partition on a secondary drive (D:\Users). The 'main' user profile (the one with the issue) was then further configured using the profile list keys within registry to place the 'Main' at the root of D: (e.g. "D:\Main") a location used since the release of Windows XP. Individual folders within this profile have been further customized using the 'location' tab (e.g. "D:\Main\Filing Cabinet\Main Documents" etc.) though this is probably not relevant!

Additionally, directory junctions have been created (mklink /j) in respect of D:\Main with D:\Users........and although probably not necessary D:\Main with C:\Users

The current situation can be summarised as follows:

1. All user accounts are assigned 'administrator' privileges

2. User profiles created under the D:\ partition (e.g. "D:\Users\Secondary" etc.) function normally with Store sign in and working Modern (Metro) Apps

3. The "D:\Main" profile functions correctly except for Store sign in and functioning Modern (Metro) Apps.

4. Attempts to sign in to the store using an MS account fails with a self returning sign in loop.

5. Attempts to bypass and download (free) Apps continually fail with the message "Something Happened and this app coul... Read more

I bought a Dell XPS 12 2-in-1 laptop. I can't get Microsoft Edge to work. When I click on the 'e' icon on the desktop, it takes me to a blue screen with the 'e' icon in the middle. At the top it says Microsoft Edge, but there is no address field. No other symbols to click on either. I can't get to any web site.
I am connected to the net, since I can get Win 10 updates and on the start screen the news app will take me to the news.
I read the Get Started tutorial, and Dell Support info on the laptop, but it doesn't address my problem.
Any ideas?

I have a Indian Bank MasterCard World EMV Chip card with international transaction enabled. However I'm unable to use it on Microsoft Store.
It works fine on Mac Appstore, iTunes and BlackBerry AppWorld where there's no need to enter any OTP but on Microsoft Store whenever I try to purchase something then the phone launches a window in Edge browser and asks me to enter OTP.
The problem is that my card is a Chip based Signature and Pin card which doesn't use OTP authentication.
What should I do?

What should I do? Try adding your card to Paypal and link the paypal account as a preferred billing option on outlook.com. Alternatively you can link the card directly on outlook.com, the former would be a recommended option - just in case.

Hi, I'm having an issue with Microsoft Edge Flash not working, specifically on Pandora. I want to like it so much, it's close but it's missing some key features and various annoyances.

Anyways, Adobe Flash works just fine with Microsoft edge.

I have tried the solution to "Reset_Microsoft_Edge" via Windows PowerShell Command, which didn't solve the issue. (Also reset Internet Explorer's settings)

And Yes, before you ask, it's turned on in the settings.

What's very odd is that Pandora doesn't even use flash on other browsers, but it uses HTML 5.

YouTube Loads HTML 5 Videos in Microsoft Edge too, so I'm not sure what the problem is....

To be honest, it's a minor annoyance, Surely I can just use another browser, but that's bedside's the point. It's not working as it should, and I just want it fixed.
