Keyboard typing double symbols

Question: Keyboard typing double symbols

Hi! I'm kinda out of ideas.
So earlier today all of a sudden my pc started to whenever I typed the following symbols : "" '' ~~ ^^
They were typed double. so whenever I typed one of those symbols it came out as two symbols.
which meant I can't do apostrophes and all that good stuff.
This has never happend to me before and I didn't change anything about my pc at all.
I even switched keyboards and it still had the same issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Keyboard typing double symbols

Sounds like a driver problem. Try this:
Using Only a Mouse

Click the Windows "Start" button, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage" to open the Computer Management window. Select "Device Manager" from the pane on the left. Expand the Keyboards section, right-click on the keyboard you want to repair and choose "Uninstall." Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Restart." When your computer boots up, Windows will detect your keyboard and install the driver.
Hopefully that may solve your problem.

So I have had multiple keyboards over time on my PC and all of them seem to type symbols such as; ~ and " twice and then not at all
I will show an example, so I go to type a dash (~) but when I do nothing appears, but when I do it again 2 (~~) appear or when I click space it appears?
This can happen with multiple symbols but not letters or words . . .
Any help, It is very hard to explain but if I need to post a video I will

I am trying to reinstall Windows XP on a HP ze4560us laptop. The computer was badly corrupted with a virus. I have reformatted the hard drive and flashed the BIOS. Now when I do to reinstall the Windows XP operating system disk, I am unable to type in the product code. The keyboard lets me type letters but it doesn't let me type numbers. It gives me symbols instead of the numbers. Can anyone help? I am about to throw the computer out the window.

Answer:Keyboard error typing symbols instead of numbers

Did you try holding down the shift key?

Occasionally if you are holding down a button when turning on electronics, it will switch which way it works. I haven't seen that often in keyboards, but that may be what is happening.

If possible, try using a usb keyboard. Your keyboard may be damaged.

Hello to whoever reads this!

I have gotten some problems with my keyboard, when I want to make the following symbols:

It makes them double, when I press 1 time. Usually you have to press 2 times, to make it. I don't know what made this problem, and I really can't find any solutions. The main problem is actually, that if I want to make an "?" I usually have to just press one time on ?, and then on the A, but since this double thing did come, I haven't been able to make those ?. So, anyone know anything about this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Best Regards

Answer:I am having problems with my keyboard, making double symbols.

It would help if we knew the keyboard in question.. as well as some of the hardware detail. Please see below:

Filling this out, at least partially, will save a lot of time. Another advantage is when posting a new problem, the person answering can just click the My System Specs link in the bottom of your post. No need to search for the information.

Ok, so I had Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2, but I wanted Professional because I heard it takes advantage of the dual core thing when Home doesn't, so I installed Windows XP Professional Media Center Edition 2005 and then upgraded to Service Pack 2. I didn't do anything on the computer before upgrading to Service pack 2, except register the computer and things, which I found out my problem. When entering my Email, instead of the @ sign coming up, the " sign came up.. here is a list of the keys that shouldn't be coming out when the button(s) is/are pressed(Note, I have an American Keyboard and an American copy of Windows):

Shift+'[email protected]
Not this / but the other slash=#
Shift+Not this / but the other slash=~

Is there anything known to fix this? Because this is getting very annoying, and I just want my keyboard to be normal lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance,
-Mr. Waffles

Apologies for what is probably a stupid question.
I have a Tecra A2 and run XP proffesional.
Suddenly some of the keys are typing symbols different to those indicated on the keys.
Pleeeeze tell me how to reset the keyboard to default.

With thanks, Danny.

Answer:Keyboard keys of Tecra A2 typing wrong symbols?

Hi mate,

it could be that you have a wrong keyboard map. A keyboard map is like a draft for your hardware which identfies which char is displayed when you hit a key on your keyboard.
Keyboard maps a depending which language you use so if the symbols on the screen do not match the input of your typing then it could be that a wrong keyboard map is set.

In such case you will have to set another keyboard language.

To change the keyboard map you must do the following:
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language options -> Click on the Tab "Languages" -> Details -> Choose your input language which matches your keyboard

Good luck and nice weekend

I have had my del laptop for about a year and a half. everything has ben fine, but earlier today, my cat walked acros the keybaord, and now, as you may be able to se, it won't alowe me to type double leters or even backspace. i've given up trying to corect my typing so i apologize for the erors. i did some research and found some people with similar prolbems, but they were al with newer laptops. ive never had this problem before and i am prety sure it's the result of my cat probably hiting a key or something. regardles, i do not know how to fix it. i cant scrol using the aros, type properly, or even backspace. i can't even highr my volume. can anyone help me?

Answer:laptop keyboard not typing double letters or

First try System restore to any date before the incident (preferably a few days or a week). If that does not work, uninstall the keyboard in device manager and restart, that should allow windows to reinstall the drivers. The cat probably hit a strange combination of keys like ctrl+Shift+something else and you could look all day and not find the options to correct it directly. One of these should help. In the future, put the system into sleep if you walk away for a few minutes (or close the lid), Hibernate if for longer, and shut down for hours or overnight. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a possibility to boost up your frequency of repetition with keyboard. I mean holding for example key "a" will make series "aaaaaaa...." faster with smaller delay. If it's not possible I was also thinking about double key command (or something) - pressing "a" will make series "aaaaaaa..." twice faster. I add also a pic of keyboard setting that allows me to boost it a little bit. Sorry for bad english im really trying to improve my language skill, hope for help!

Hello. I have just received my Y700 a couple weeks ago and have noticed that while im typing it intermittently types double letters. It iis not all the time, but as you can see it just happened. It happens more when i am typing full words and sentences quickly, and not while trying one letter at at time trying to provokke it to happen. I had hoped after all windows updates were finished it would fix itself. it is getting quite annoying to have to correct everything I type. It is a brand new laptop so not to happy about this. Has anyone else with this laptop experienced this? I have updated all the drivers and seems to happen in any program i have tried.  If anyone has any insight to whether this is a hardware problem or some sort of software/driver problem, please let me know.  thanks

Answer:Y700 keyboard intermittently typing double letters...

This is happening to me, too, and it's driving me crazy. All drivers are up to date and it happens no matter what program I use. It does not seem to be restricted to any particular key or keys. Please let me know if you figure it out!

Pls do help ..

Answer:Keyboard on my Satellite C55-B803 is typing double letters

Does the same issue happen if you would use external USB keyboard?

If external USB keyboard would work properly, the double letters problem is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.
Then there is just one solution: keyboard replacement.

In my work computer (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit) I noticed a strange phenomenon. When I switch keyboard layout to Greek in order to type Greek in Google or elsewhere, it types strange symbols instead of the actual character! This happens in every website when I try to type data in a box or wherever else. If I write the text in Notepad or elsewhere and I copy-paste, it is OK. The problem is I cannot type directly in Greek. The keyboard produces symbols instead of Greek characters! This problem is only in IE 11, in Google Chrome I can type OK.

Please don't tell me to use another browser! Give me a solution. It might be some setting since I don't have this problem at home (see my specs).

Thank you.

Answer:Symbols instead of Greek text when typing in a box IE 11

After examining carefully all settings, I wasn't sure if the advanced settings were correct or screwed. So I decided to reset the advanced settings to default. This did the trick. It could be something with UTF8, but not sure. Resetting to default cancelled any wrong setting and now it works OK.

PS: I didn't change anything else, only reset the advanced settings to default. That's for anyone having the same issue.

Hi there!I have an IBM ThinkPad laptop (lenova T61) and I have a weird problem (unfortunately it comes and goes randomly, too!!)  The numbers at the top of the keyboard get stuck like I am pressing "shift" but I am not.  So if I type an "8" it actually comes out as a "*" and if I type a "5" it comes out as a "%".  If I press SHIFT I can get to the 8 and the 5 and whatever I need --- but I do a lot of accounting at work and this is a real pain!! Also if I type a ? I don't need to press SHIFT (if that makes sense, because it's like the SHIFT key is already pressed).  I have been searching and searching but I can't find the answer anywhere for how to fix this!!  Is there a SHIFT LOCK button I need to be depressing?  Help please!  This is driving me insane!!!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Shift Key stuck? Numbers on top typing as symbols

There are options for locking the shift key and the process is different for different operating systems. They are under something like accessibility options. in win7 start/all programs/accessories/ease of access. They are very useful if you are typing with a mouth stick. If I remember correctly, in XP, if you held down the shift key for 8 seconds, it would lock. I learned this the hard way while typing and trying to figure out the right word. I used to rest my hand on the keyboard.

My Satellite L550 laptop has the same keyboard problem than L670 series. More than often, some keys don't function, always the same: 1 6 a d s g j... When this problem occurs I can type using a second key as shift or space bar.

On L670 series this has been fixed by new BIOS but on L550 what could I do?

Sometimes it works properly but I need always to type slowly however it goes wrong...

Thanks a lot for a solution

Sorry for my poor English

Answer:Missing symbols when typing fast on my Satellite L550

> More than often, some keys don't function, always the same: 1 6 a d s g j... When this problem occurs I can type using a second key as shift or space bar.

To be honest it?s not known to me that the L550 would be affected by the same keyboard issue as the L670.
Did you test this notebook behavior using an external USB keyboard?
Do that?

If the same issue would not be available using the second external USB keyboard, then this means that the BIOS is ok and the internal keyboard is affected.

First is poor battery life (balanced plan 50% display brightness getting  about 4 hours)
The second issue is the keyboard. It all works perfectly apart from every fourth or fifth word it adds an extra space between words. I see this has been an issue for other Dell laptops in the past.
I've updated all drivers and the BIOS from the website so everything is up to date.

HELP!! EEverything I type shows up as doubled letters. lliikkee tthhiiss. I have adjusted my keyboard settings, but when I went back on the web it keeps doing it

Answer:double typing letters

There is no one fix that takes care of all of these.
A couple points:
- Make sure the battery in your keyboard is fresh (if it's wireless)
- If your keyboard and mouse are both wireless, make sure they both have good batteries.
- If they each run off separate dongles, and they are the same brand, try unplugging one dongle at a time and see if it helps or changes.
- there have been some machines (HP), that have had actual hardware problems with the keyboards.

Fixing this online could be unmanageable, or it may need a hardware expert.
It's always possible it's caused by some kind of malware related corruption, but I doubt it.
You could also try going into Control Panel > Keyboard and changing the settings for delay and repeat rate, etc. to see if it helps..
(That is probably what you meant by your "settings", so it's not likely to help).

On my two new Lenovo Yoga 900 machines, there is an issue with typing where letters occasionally appear doubled. It's a real pain and the only thing I don't like about the machine. It's not the way I type, my wife has the exact same model Yoga and has the same problem. It occurs about once a paragraph, so it's not constant, and I can't find any way to duplicate it. It just seems random.
This is not a new issue with Lenovo I found out, but the solution I have seen at mmultiple places online is to set the Enable Repeat Key settings. This means there is a slight pause between accepting a second letter, and even though I type very fast, it still works well EXCEPT this also means there will be a pause when I do things like using the arrow keys to scroll.  For example, if I want to highlight this sentence to delete it, I will usually hold the shift key, and the hold down the left arrow and let it scroll back to the first word. This takes a lot longer with the Enable Repeat Key setting. Also,, sometimes I scroll up using the up arrow and that also is affected when I add a pause to Enable Repeat Key. This just shouldn't be. In all my previous systems I have never had this, and it's particularly disappointing given how much I like this machine, and that fact that I have seen online that this has occurred on previous Lenovo models as well.
Maybe a .1 second pause would work, but the minimum setting I can choose in Settings is .3 which is too slow.&nb... Read more

I have a brand new Satellite C50-A-1CK which is perfect for my needs EXCEPT I continually get double characters appearing on screen when typing which is:
A. VERY frustrating
B. Wasting a lot of time as I have to keep correcting words to remove the duplicate characters.

Please does anyone know of a fix for this? It can affect any key on the keyboard and it doesn't matter if I type slow or quick, press the keys firmly or as light as possible.

Have checked for firmware updates but none available.

Thanks in advance!

I hope that someone can help you and me on this!

I have used other machines for years, I am a reasonably competent typist but have suffered the same problem on my Satellite C850 and it drives me mad.

Also the ease with which using the touchpad to move the cursor about results in the machine selecting the settings sidebar for Windows 8 by mistake.

I have tried changing the keyboard sensitivity within windows but this does not seem to help - just slows the keyboard right down.

Really frustrating

Worst laptop ever. This is my 3rd time trying to find solutions for this laptop. It won't turn on AGAIN. Am I really supposed to remove the battery and replace it every time I want to use my computer. I just got this laptop and barely use it because of all of the issues. It either won't turn on, or it double types the letters when I type on it. I'm writing this post from my cell phone. It's too late to return it to the store, and whenever I mention warranty or replacement, HP gives me these stupid take the battery out and drain the laptop quick fixes that DO NOT WORK. I'm too broke to buy a new laptop, and why should I have to, I worked hard, saved my money, and bought this one so it would make writing papers and getting through school easier... if you have any other solutions, other than the multiple other solutions already offered that did not work, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Answer:getting double letters when typing on Yoga 3 Pro 1370

You've gone to keyboard properties in the control panel, adjusted the repeat delay and it affects the cursor? That is strange indeed. I do seem to get a few more double letters on shallow keyboards found on slim devices than keyboards with longer travel, but I chock that off as a cost of slim. Still, it shouldn't be too bad.

I have had an issue with my Yoga 3 Pro from the day I first bought it less than a year ago.  I get random double letters when typping.  It's reallyy irritating.  I've gone into windows settings and chaged the filter keys settings to try and captue some of the typing issues and double letters with no success.  As you can see in a prrevious (and just now) sentence, this is a random and prevalent problem.  I can not seem to address it.  Has anyone else had this problem or is there a solution?  I've updated to the most recent bios due to several battery problems I'm also having but that's for another thread.  Haven't been very happy with this product since I purchased it because of the issues that plague it.  Hoping they are just software issues and patches are in the worrks.   Just typing these two paragraphs above lent to 4 instances of double letters.  Please help. Thanks.

When typing in MS Word / Outlook / Excel the double quote marks (or single quote marks) fail to appear on the 1st key entry
Both quotes appear on 2nd key entry
This also allows special characters to be displayed (eg: " + e places double dots over the e).
This has to be a setting somewhere ??? Only English Language is enabled ???
Appreciate a pointer as to which setting to disable

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. Everything here is off. If i turn on the On-Screen Keyboard no keys are Highlighted (indicating they are depressed/stuck )
When I use the hard keyboard and sometimes even the onscreen keyboard its as if either Ctrl, Alt Win or something are pressed down as it just types shortcuts.

-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via onscreen keyboard types as normal
-H- typed into chrome browser address bar via hard keyboard brings up -Chrome://history- But now also on the onscreen keyboard Ctrl is Highlighted.
I click on the onscreen keyboard to deactivate the now highlighted Ctrl button and try again. Now things are different, as now both the onscreen keyboard and the hard keyboard both bring up ?Chrome://history- when -H- is typed ( Shift is not depressed )

This seems to randomly cycle one min onscreen keyboard works fine, next the keyboard works fine or they either work or none of the work rendering the computer useless.

I cant help feel it?s a software issue but im no pro and I don?t have an additional external keyboard to try but as the onscreen and hard keyboard work ok for a while sometimes I assume something is up and that?s what brought me here.

Hopefully this is clear enough to be understood and to help others who may have the same issue.

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP and now my keyboard symbols are weird. I have to press them twice for them to work, then it gives me two. My number " 6 " works fine, first tap and it's there... but with the " ^ " I have to press it twice. I can't find any drivers for this keyboard and everyone seems to just say; unplug, restart and change the USB slot. But none of this solves my problem. It is especially annoying when typing reports when my quotations have to be so difficult.

My keyboard is a Santek Eclipse, Model: KU-0603

Only these symbols are this way: ' " ^ ` ~

Everything else works just fine. I thought that perhaps I accidentally executed some program or option, but I can't find anything.

For some reason, the past few days, I have had occasions where when I push down on the number keys(except numbers 5 and 6-they work, why I have no idea) above the letters, nothing happens. Also, the symbols above these keys also do not work! I know, weird! Like I can't write any emails right now because I can't use the 'at' symbol above number 2, for example, and I need to write some emails!! But I've said I've had 'occasions' where this is happening, in the last week or so. Then it seems to correct itself. But tonight, for the 4 hours or so I've been on, those numbers keys will simply not work, and the symbols above them. I would also like to mention I CAN access the numbers on the keypad on the right of the keyboard, but this doesn't help me with those symbols I need above the numbers above the letters. So I can type numbers, but I also need those symbols, too...especially the 'at' symbol above #2. I have read a little about others who have had this problem, and it seems to have something to do with the 'NumLock' key, but I don't quite understand the remedies that are presented as to how to fix this. If you know what is going on here, please give me instructions on how to fix it. I need to use those numbers above the keyboard, for the symbols. Answer:Keyboard symbols and actual key strokes not the same

Does the chosen language match your keyboard?
Sound like you use a UK-keyboard with US-language or the other way around.
A US-keyboard has a @ above the 2, and # above the 3.
A UK-keyboard has a " above the 2, and above the 3.
There are a bunch more differences but these are the easiest to spot.
You can change this in Control Panel/Regional Options

Im guessing that as US is the default you are in the UK but using a US language layout for your keyboard.

Goto Start --> Settings --> Control Panel

Select 'Regional and Language Settings' (If xp you may need to set it to view in classic mode)

Select the 'Languages' Tab and click Details in the 'Text Services and input languages' groupbox.

I have a problem with my keyboard. I will be working on it and just out of the blue when I select any key that also has a " Green Sign or Letter " on the actual key it will only allow me to enter that symbol that is shown in green. Example. on my ACER Laptop Model Aspire 5720Z I have on the number 2 key it has -- the number 2, the @ Sign in black colour, the (") Sign in Green Colour and the @ Sign again in Green. What happens is I go to select the @ Sign in Black and it Prints (") in Green and a line under it in Green but will not print the @ Sign at all in black. I have tried other keys that have the green letter or symbols etc. and it will only print the Green Symbol etc. not the symbol I am trying to type. The only way to get that symbol I want is to copy it from somewhere else on my page or to close down and restart my computer. This happens every time I am on my computer for more than 10 - 15 minutes. What can I do to stop this, I am stumped.

Answer:Keyboard Error from Green Key Symbols

I think you've got a key labeled "Alt Gr" next to the space bar that's used to activate the green selections (e.g Hold Alt Gr & press 2 to get (*); if it's not Alt Gr, it's another one down there.

Sounds like whatever that key is, is jammed and you have to release it in some way.

Hi Gobstoppers123,
Welcome to Lenovo forums
As I understand that you are facing issue with keypad with your u430 laptop.
As you have mentioned that when press shift and numerical 2 key instead of @ symbol you are getting ? symbol.
Can you confirm what happens when you shift and ?key.
As there might be difference in the settings go to control panel, select change keyboards or other inputs option.
Go to formats and change the keyboard format accordingly and check if the issue persist. Or you can also change the format to US English in keyboard setting.
Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

I have just recently purchesed a Toshiba Satellite A300.
The system details are as follows:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T5850 @ 2.16 GHz 2.17 GHZ
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit.
Memory Ram: 3.00GB.

Anywho, it cost 879 Euro + postage and handling. The problem is the keyboard. The keyboard language is set to English (US). For who knows what reason, some of the keys do not enter their designed symbol/function/numeral.

For example, in order to make the symbol ''@'' i have to use the corresponding key sequence SHIFT+','
But when i press SHIFT + 2 i get ''
I cant figure out why, but i cannot even get it to work. A lot of the keys are out of whack. I haven't touched anything, i only got it over a week ago. It cost me a lot and i can't seem to find any support. I had a technician look at it, but he was unable to figure it out.

I've tried holding down ALTGR and shift and pressing INSERT and everything but to no avail.

I have a Spanish user onsite that recently had to restore his OS and in doing so believes he lost a patch that he had installed that would allow him to use the secondary symbols on his laptop keyboard (IBM Thinkpad). As an example, he told me that holding "Ctrl + Q" on his keyboard should give him the "@" symbol, but it comes up blank. His keyboard is obviously different than our standard keyboard...from what I saw there is no "shift" key, the "ctrl" key must be used instead.

Does anyone know of such a patch, where I can get it (Microsoft, IBM)? I don't speak Spanish so it is difficult for me to troubleshoot this issue, as his OS is in Spanish.

So I'm looking for some kind of maths keyboard which I can use to easily add maths symbols to my lecture notes. Best way I could think of doing this is with the touch keyboard. With the touch keyboard you can hit the little keyboard button bottom left and change between a regular keyboard, split keyboard, or like...writing keyboard. Surely you could add a fourth? Either with a custom character set or a premade maths one? I know about the maths input panel, but it can't recognise all symbols flawlessly, and it would be much quicker to have the most used ones readily available on the touch keyboard.

Answer:Custom touch keyboards/maths symbols keyboard

I'm guessing.

I have an Acer Chromebook and recently spilled some water on it.  In my panic, I quickly wiped down the keyboard and all was still well and working.  I noticed then that whenever I tried to type anything, completely different letters or numbers or random symbols would show up.  I'm guessing that as I wiped down the keys and pressed them down at once, it did something to change the keyboard.  And to add to this problem, I can't even sign into my laptop as it's password protected, and I can't type my password in correctly.  Is this something that I can fix myself easily?

Answer:Keyboard types wrong letters, numbers, symbols, et...

Hi linscrawf,
Here is an article with 2 ways of performing a powerwash before signing into Chrome.
This should reset the device (removing any unsaved data) and any potential settings or key combo's that you may have it.
It still requires some keystrokes, but they shouldn't also intiate other keystrokes. If they are, or after performing the powerwash you still have this issue it would likely indicate that the liquid spill is affecting the circuity below and multiple keystrokes are being detected.
I hope this helps,Cory

Has anyone of readers a Japanese keyboard and trouble with the assignment of
the keys when working in English.

I have a querty keyboard, all letters/CAPITALS work fine.
However the majority of the symbols [email protected]#$%^&*()_+{}:"<>?, are assigned to
the wrong keys

Example @ is SHIFT 2, but it indicates on that key "

Answer:Japanese keyboard 00000411 keys do not match with symbols

that's because you have chosen "English US" in the keyboard language settings, and the US keyboards are actually arranged that way.

You should choose another kind of English for your keyboard, like the "English UK", as they have a keyboard more similar to yours (which if it is japanese should be like this, I hope)

Unfortunately my Toshiba NB10-A-10N doesn't have an integrated numeric keyboard which would be useful to enter signs/symbols by alt plus the appropiate number.

How can I anyway, using my normal german keyboard assignment, enter for instance: ? (without switsching the keyboard to spanish assignment)?

Is there any way?

Answer:Satellite NB10-A-10N - How do I enter special symbols with the keyboard?

If you have notebook offered on German market you will get it with Windows on German language and German keyboard layout.

Of course you can change keyboard input language and set it to Spanish.
Open control panel > Region and Language > keyboard and language.

If you want to use Spanish language only remove all installed services and add Spanish only.

You can also use Spanish and German but set Spanish as default input language. It is your choice.

Hi all.
The keyboard that I now have on my Studio 1555 has no backlight and the function keys have the media key symbols shown more prominently than the function key symbols (i.e. F1, F2 etc are printed very small in blue on the top right-hand side of each key cap).
I'd like to buy a new backlit keyboard with the function keys symbols shown more prominently than the media key symbols (I am already aware that there is a setting in the bios to switch between these two alternatives).
I've already seen the backlit D344C / 0D344C but someone that I've spoken to says that the eject key won't work on a Studio 1555 since it is "not compatible".Does anyone know if Dell make/made a (UK) keyboard for the Studio 1555 which has both a backlight AND the function key symbols shown on the function keys? If so, what is its part number?
Many thanks, Dave

Since you've only tried one new keyboard, it cannot be ruled out that you had the bad luck to get a faulty one.

Toshiba Satellite Pro C660

Since we bought this laptop in November '10 it has had an intermittent problem with typing. Occasionnally the keyboard will either miss out characters typed or double type them. It can happily do this all day and then stop and go back to normal.
We have restored this back to factory settings and it still does it intermittently. Our IT man insists this is a software problem but has been unable to find out what it is.

Bizaarly we bought two of these laptops at the same time and they both have the same fault.

Any help?

I have the Gateway NE56R12u 15.6-Inch Laptop
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

A few drops of water was spilled onto my keyboard (I don't think the water got down into the laptop... as far as I could tell the water landed on top of the keys, but I could be wrong) and when I went to clean it, I didn't think ahead and turn it off before cleaning up the spill. So many keys were pressed and now the keyboard is not functioning correctly. When I press the majority of the keys, they will either add other letters/symbols, or they will trigger Windows shortcuts.

As an example..
B = "B (it also brings up the right click menu) (this will also bring up this: symbol as well as times)
O = 7i7o0
L = *L{YK

M = HM

k= yk*

j = brings up googlechrome downloads

i = takes curser to the start of the text

The space key types b ' and brings up the right click menu.

7 brings up the "open file" shortcut

and so on

Some keys are working properly: a c d e f g q r s t v w x z

I browsed google a little to see if anyone else has had this problem. A big fix was pressing the FN button and the NumLock at the same time. That didn't work. Which, I doubted it would since my laptop has a full keyboard.

Is it possible that it's stuck on some sort of sticky keys or toggle keys setting?

I don't know if this is a software or a hardware issue, but using the onscreen or an exter... Read more

German symbols are replaced on websites by other letters and symbols. For example, the Euro sign is replaced by a rectangle and the letters with the German Umlaut are replaced by unknown letters. What can I do? Thanks, DresEdit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hey gang, maybe someone out there can help me with this?

Every now and then, for some unknown reason, my keyboard gets a mind of it's own and begins typing letters I didn't strike.

It only happens when I'm already typing, like I'll be writing something and suddenly my word will turn into "week444444444444."

For some odd reason, a group of numbers just show up sometimes, inserting themselves into words I'm typing.

I'm wondering if it's because I currently use a device to share a keyboard and mouse between two computers. Maybe once I unhook that device, things will work normally. Though I'm not having that problem on the other computer sharing the keyboard, so that might not be it.

I dunno, it's mighty confusing. I can live with it, though if there's a way to fix it, I'd certainly love to give it a shot.

Anyone out there got any suggestions? I'd sure appreciate them!

Hi. I am using on-screen keyboard right now because my keyboard infinitely types M's if I touch it. Also, it continues typing M's on its own. I have tried taking the keys off and cleaning underneath, but that doesn't work and the key doesn't appear to be stuck down. It didn't type random M's when I restarted it the first time, but now even at login on start up it types M's. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thank goodness for on-screen keyboard though, eh?

Answer:keyboard typing by itself

it sounds like the spring is gone on the keyboard.

Started a few days ago and has gotten progressively worse. Keyboard keeps typing stuff, not actual words just stuff like ?&!!!!!$ or the back button etc. Sometimes it's gone for a few hours and then it comes back even worse. I ran AVG which found nothing, Malwarebytes which found 4 infected files and deleted them, and Search and Destroy which deleted what it found. And yet, the problem persists.

I don't have access to the original Windows CD so I'm unable to reboot.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as I am way out of my element here.

So I decided to clean my usb keyboard so I opened it with some screw drivers, little did I kow the re-assembly would be so difficut. There where these little plastic pieces for each key but they where loosly placed on some plastic sheets. I did my best at placing everything and pluged it in.

It won't type now. First time it wasn't typing but then I did something, and it typed again but a couple keys where not, so I reopened, placed and tried again. Now it's not typing at all. I'm on the on-screen kb and when I press num lock and caps lock the little green lights do turn on the usb keyboard.

I've tried uninstallng and reinstalling the drivers many times but it doesnt work. Also, for some reason, 2 HID KB devices appear, and it keeps installing one of them when scanning for plug n play devices, even when it's not plugged in.

So help please, thanks!

Answer:USB Keyboard not typing

Its corrupted now. Better purchase a new one. Never open the keyboard to its last level(separating the plastic sheets), it damages your keyboard for life.

HELLO ALL!!this happened 2 weeks ago and became already a serious and unfixable problem for me..., hope someone can help me, this is the story: i installed a program and 2min. later i decided to uninstall it, while the uninstallation process the computer gave me an error which i dont remember but then a pop-up displayed "successfully uninstalled" so i restarted windows, the problem begun here, since then the pc boots-up normally but when i press down any key to type my password the mouse's pointer gets completely freeze and nothing is been typed(all this in the "password" screen, it never gets access to windows) this with a PS/2 keyboard. I though the PS/2 connector was damaged or something so i changed the keyboard for an USB one, now the mouse pointer moves around ok but still cannot type a thing, therefore still can get into windows    , i tried already in SAFE MODE and going back to the last good config. but that didn't solve the problem, I CAN NAVIGATE THE BIOS AND MAKE CHANGES BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE LETTER KEYS DONT WORK.... the new keyboard works fine in other PCs.        HELP!!

Hello all;
recently, my ASUS laptop keyboard has been acting really erratic. Some examples are that every time I press a key, it types a different key or another key along with it, some keys simply don't work at all, and some keys just initiate some kind of massive sequence of autotyping a single character or random characters.
At first, I thought something must be wrong with the physical keyboard itself, but the day after I noticed the issue (which is actually today), I discovered some functions of my internet browsers aren't working probably either and not only because of the unknown keystrokes. Some of the website certificates I visited suddenly weren't trusted.
To go along with that, the touch pad I use to navigate and click on items tends to go in and out, but the actual two mouse buttons work fine. Another strange quirk when I opened notepad was that somehow the auto-key strokes started typing my computer's date and time!
I have run the latest MalwareBytes anti-malware with a full-scan and did remove some malicious objects, but the problem still remains. Could I have a virus/key-logger? Can anyone help?
Thanks for any assistance

Answer:Keyboard typing on its own

Have you tried using another keyboard?
What model Asus is it?
The certificate problem could be the computer clock is off which usually means a bad CMOS battery.
EDIT:  Any chance some liquid could of been spilled on it?
