Preferred Solution: ie announce a phishing site...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: Phishing Site?

HelloI received an email that was asking to answer a survey. I accidentally clicked on the link and closed the window that popped up immediately. I think it's a phishing website or something. Here is what the mail looked like. The way it was typed is pretty odd (as shown in the encircled words).I just wanna know if my password got hacked or I'm infected with a virus or something else since I clicked on the link.Need help. Thanks! Anybody willing to click the link for me? haha

Answer:Phishing Site?

You can check out the link here:http://www.explabs.com/You broke one of the golden rules of computing safety. Maybe two. Don't open an email if you don't recognize the sender or if it is suspect. NEVER click on a link in an email or IM unless you have verified where it will take you. You can use the link above or copy and paste the link into Google and see what the results say. Suggest you scan with whatever security programs you have.

Question: Phishing site?

Hi, I have been frequenting a web design forum site via Tapatalk and just realized now that it's flagged on Virustotal by a few different engines. Can I post a link to the site if you have ever heard of it? And could we get Tapatalk to blacklist it as well.

I'm somewhat in shock. I've been using that site for a while, posting links from my site for help, and there are helpful posters and Mods as well. But now wondering if that's why my site has been getting hacked time and again the last year or so. Perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised, in this day and age you got to check out every site before you visit it.

Only because of what happened today I realized. Should've checked before. So what happened was, lately I've been noticing random people following me on tap-a-talk and was wondering about it. Checked them out now and noticed by at least three followers that they all follow that forum as well as sinister.ly or another hacking site or blog.

Might that be the reason why my site has been getting hacked for the last few months time and again? After I made a post requesting feedback on my site. Could it be that hackers know to come there to find unsuspecting prey? Or maybe even that the owners of that site set up that site for just this reason?

I believe my pc has contracted a bit of malware. I've run kapersky, avg and avast!, each one picked up a couple of things here and there, but one problem still persists. Whenever I restart (and periodically thereafter) firefox directs me to update.windowssettings.org/2/update.php, which is immediately identified by avg as a web forgery.

The machine isn't particularly slow and otherwise is running normally, but this consistent phishing is annoying me and I'd like to clean it out.

Hi,
I found a phishing web site, where do I report it?
I was in FF, and went to yahoo.com and searched for "news".
The first URL was an ad, something like:
Latest news ...... today.com
This sends you to a page saying that your computer is infected and
to call 888-535-2763

When I do the same in IE11, I do not find the phishing link.

Where can I report this?
I tried the yahoo web site, but could only see reporting phishing email.

Answer:where do I report a phishing site

Phishing Attack Plunders Job Site

It is hard enough to keep scammers at bay without having job recruiters coughing up your personal information. Armed with personal info, crooks can create personalized "phishing" e-mails that people are more likely to fall for.

Before the scheme was uncovered last week by researchers at Symantec Corp., con artists had filched legitimate user names and passwords from recruiters who search for job candidates on Monster. Then with access into the Monster system, the hackers grabbed resumes and used information on those documents to craft personalized "phishing" e-mails to job seekers.

The other day, I tried to log in to my bank account and was redirected to a phishing site. When I asked my wife about it, she said she thought she might have downloaded a virus. I run Avast AntiVir and Comodo Firewall. I've scanned with AntiVir, Malwarebytes, Security Essentials, CCleaner and none have been able to detect anything or resolve the problem.

If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. I can provide whatever logs are requested. Thanks!

Answer:Chase.com redirects to a phishing site! Please help!

Call the bank, make sure your account is closed from internet access / protect your info with the bank over the phone or in person before doing anything with the PC!!

I've had this happen to me and didn't realize what happened till my account was drained

ok so, with that squared away... all those programs come up with 0 infections - but the website still tries to redirect?

I would go into safe mode and try to scan from there, Malwarebytes first, then the rest, FULL SCANS too, don't just do the Quick runs

Hello.Today I tried to log onto Paypal, and i was taken to fake PP site that looked exactly like the actual one. I ended up sending my personal info with credit card, etc and spent all day canceling the account at PP, my credit card, filing complaints with the Social Security Dept, Federal Trade Commission and so on....very fun day, indeed.I've certainly become more informed on phishing today, and have never had any kind of problem like this before. It sounds like most of the time, these types of things happen with email links, but I just typed in the PP addy to get there. I do have virus protection, but I've also ran Adaware Pro 2008, and Malewarebytes, neither finding much. When I still try to go to PP, it takes me to <hxxps://www.paypal.com/us/> which I now know is not the official site...but it looks like it in every detail. Hi,

My computer has been infected by "https://chrome-updates.win/s.html" site. It can be caused a program which is not safe for my computer I installed. When I opened Chrome or a new tab, it directs me to this address. At first, that page opened with nothing, just white page and after I had some inappropriate ads on my internet sites even on Chrome new tab favorite page. I think when that site opened, ads became active. Then I scanned my computer with Kaspersky, Zemana and Adwcleaner and I didn't see any ad site, but it directs me that site again. Also there is difference now, because I have a warning text in the site (I have screenshot), I think this is some of protection. But I'm troubled because of opening that direct site again. I think it is fake Chrome update virus. Kaspersky and Zemana scans were clean but Adwcleaner found some things and I deleted them and took screenshots, I can send them. Even I deleted that infected stuff, I have that problem again. How can I delete that thing? Sorry for my bad English, if you didn't understand, I can take care more.

Thanks for your helps.

Here is the problem I am having.

A client has a PC with IE 6 on it. When he tries to log onto AOL, Bank of America, ING Direct, and any other number of financial sites, he gets to a page saying something to the effect of that company making changes, and they need his Credit Card #, ATM Pin, etc. Basically all that information that most places will tell you they will never ask you for online or via email.

Problem is, most of them are using https and the URLs are all correct. It is not being redirected to a different url. I have confirmed that the URL that shows in IE is correct.
Tried upgrading to IE7, still got same problem. Tried system restore back to before the problem existed, this did not fix it. Ran every major Antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, rootkit finder, BHO finder, etc that I could find, none of them found anything.

Other systems on this LAN work OK. If I browse to the same sites in Mozilla firefox on this same PC, that works OK. I tried a few other browsers, they all worked. Just IE has the problem.

I installed a peice of software called Proxomitron, its a software proxy. I set up Internet Explorer to use this Proxy software, and with that running, I can access these sites in IE.

So, my conclusion is that there is something on the system hijacking the HTTP requests from IE. Problem is, I dont know enough about how IE works to really troubleshoot that any further. Anyone have any suggestions?

I did try to delete all the folders that have to ... Read more

Answer:AOL and financial sites redirect to phishing site

Bump 1

I have some new information on this as well.

I made a full backup image of the HD using Acronis so I could restore to a virtual PC to troublehshoot. Basically, I could not restore to a virtual PC, and ended up having to restore to an HP system because the OEM OS wouldnt let me restore to anything else. I used Acronis Universal restore to restore onto dis-similar hardware.

If I restore both the C: partition and the MBR, I cant boot, get bsod. If I then boot to a windows CD into recovery console and run the fixmbr command to rebuild the MBR I can get into windows, but at that point, I can not reproduce the error. I can browse right to these sites and log on with no problems. If I restore just the C: partition, I also do not get the problem.

I am unable to reproduce the problem on another PC. I do not know if that means the problem is in the MBR, or of its just a coincidence. The only difference between the original PC and my Restored Image of that PC on another system is the MBR, and I had to install NIC and Video drivers for the PC I restored to.

Not sure if this is relevant information, but this problem is not going away, so I am jumping at anything that might help.

So tried to log onto my internet banking today and didnt realised I was being phished. The site covered its tracks so well that even now, it looks like the real Lloyds TSB site - only clue is that the memorable information link asks for the whole memorable information rather than a select three characters.

In the past I've never been caught out and am a little miffed that I have this time.

The bank has frozen my internet banking but now I have to find the culprit on my PC. Can you help? heres a copy of the DDS log.

Many thanks

Yahoo Jobs Site Used in Phishing Attack

According to a British network service firm, someone has been taking advantage of a vulnerability in Yahoo's HotJobs site that allows an attacker access to a Yahoo member's mail and other personal accounts.

"The script steals the authentication cookies that are sent for the yahoo.com domain and passes them to a different website in the United States, where the attacker is harvesting stolen authentication details," NetCraft said Monday. "Netcraft has informed Yahoo of the latest attack, although at the time of writing, the HotJobs vulnerability and the attacker's cookie harvesting script are both still present."

How do you report a phishing site with Microsoft Edge?
You can open the site from Edge Settings with IE11 then in IE11 use safety / smart screen, but within edge I do not see a way of reporting the site directly from the edge browser.

My PC has somehow gotten infected with a piece of Malware that causes IE8 to redirect my personal security credential login to Ebay to another phishing site that is asking for all sorts of personal information as a "verification" to continue into Ebay. I have no idea how this got on my machine but I need help badly to get it off. Can anyone help me?

original problem was posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic454346.htmlIt couldnt be solved so I was directed this way. This is the gist of the situation:I'm trying to deposit money on a pokersite and im having errors on my PC. I can access the deposit page from my wireless laptop and even my iphone (wifi mode), but i prefer to do my banking on my PC.Here's the detailed descriptionI just joined a new Online Poker site (lockpoker.eu) and installed their poker program on my computer. I signed up an account and tried out the program (using play money) and everything worked well so I decided to deposit some Real Cash into it. Thats when I ran into the problem. When i would try to click on the deposit link inside the program I would get a certificate error on the deposit page. i tried multiple times and always get the same results. I figured theres something wrong with the deposit link within the program. Luckily there was another option. I can just go directly to the LockPoker.eu website and deposit from there (cashier.lockpoker.eu). So i log into the site successfully and discover the deposit link. I click on the link and still get the certificate errors. I tried using three different browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) and i basically got the same certificate errors. I'll copy and paste the errors from my original post here. I also took screen shots of the errors that i have attached. From Mozilla---------------------------------------This Connection ... *****BREAKTHROUGH****

Late last night, i dont know why, but i checked to see if there were any updates on my Comodo Firewall. and sure enough there was. so i updated it and it updated itself super quick (like it was downloaded and ready to install a single 1KB file or something cause it was quick) and it asked me to restart. so I restarted. I felt that the update was so quick that i went back and clicked update again. and there was yet another update. this time it took a little longer. and i restarted it again.

it was late so i set a virus scan and went to bed.

when i got up this morning, i saw that i had no viruses (as expected) and went to check my posts. i decided to click on http://www.realtimegaming.com/ and i am now able to access it. I went on cashier.lockpoker.eu and clicked on the deposit link and im able to access it now. i went to my poker program logged on and clicked on the deposit link and im able to access it now.

my firewall was COMODO Internet Security (Version: 5.5.64714.1383) and now its COMODO Internet Security (Version: 5.10.228257.2253)

Does this mean i was being phished by my firewall all this time? should i be worried? ive been online banking for quite sometime?

Hey everyone, I'm hoping I can get some help because I cannot get this resolved after trying many things.

Just yesterday I noticed that when I wake my computer up from sleep mode, or just restart or boot up my computer, my google chrome opens 10-20 tabs attempting to reach Facebook links. Here are a couple examples:

ht tps://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/test-favela.html?509812954

I have run malware bytes and norton anti virus to no avail, I have cleared cookies, changed Facebook passwords, rolled back my computer a day, and went to msconfig and disabled a facebook updater on start up.

I really have no idea what to do, and google searches bring back nothing. I saw one other post on the mozilla firefox forums with the problem I have, but the answer was just go to a spyforum for help.

Please help. Thank you.

I would like to recommend this Chrome-only extension for protection against phishing attacks.

The advantage of this extension is that it gives an alert message each time you visit a new website the first time or some sites you have not visited for a long time. The user will then have to decide to proceed or cancel visiting the site.

You can add this to complement the comprehensive Netcraft reporting and protection extension.

Get it from Chrome web store, here

Putting new mobo into existing PC, had to buy a AGP graphics card (the other mobo had onboard graphics).Inserted graphics card and powered up PC, but the card doesn't "sign-on", and the monitor reverts to power-saving mode, as though it is getting no signal. The mobo is an ECS K7S5A, and is known to be in working order (had it in my PC until recently), and the new graphics card is an Radeon 9250, which is an 8x AGP. The Mobo doesn't have on-board graphics, so the BIOS should be set correctly to use the AGP slot. The Mobo only supports 4x AGP, but AGp bus speeds are always backwards compatable (so I have read).Any idea what could be the problem

OpenX Technologies Inc. (OpenX), the world?s leading independent ad server for Web publishers, today announced it has entered into a partnership with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) that will allow the companies to cross-market and promote products to their respective publisher bases. Under terms of the multiyear agreement, OpenX becomes a preferred partner to publishers for enterprise ad serving solutions. In addition, OpenX will promote Microsoft?s Content Ads monetization products ? as well as other products that may be developed in the future ? to its existing base of Web publisher customers.
OpenX and Microsoft will each enjoy significant benefits from the partnership. Most notably, Microsoft will have a major distribution channel for its monetization products through OpenX?s community of more than 150,000 Web sites that serve more than 300 billion ads per month. OpenX will, in turn, gain access to a new base of potential customers ? via referrals from Microsoft ? for its enterprise advertising technology and services.
The Content Ads component of the agreement follows a successful trial Microsoft and OpenX began in August 2008, during which OpenX provided invitations to its publishers to test the product. Content Ads matches ads to relevant editorial content, allowing advertisers to increase campaign effectiveness, which can allow publishers to achieve a higher yield on certain types of inventory. As part of the agreement, OpenX will promote Content Ads in two ways.... Read more

According to the latest update Google have launched a new capability in AdSense allowing Google-certified ad networks compete directly within AdSense, which means that advertisers from these third-party networks will be able to compete with AdWords advertisers to show on the Google Content Network.
These new capabilities will automatically be enabled to the Adsense user accounts and a new section is added in Ad Review Center where a user can allow or block specific ad networks or all networks except AdWords.
To ensure the quality of the ads that appear on AdSense publisher websites, Google will certify all participating ad networks for adherence to our standards for user privacy, ad quality, and speed. Some participating ad networks use targeting methods similar to Google’s interest-based advertising to show more relevant ads to users on the sites they visit. These ad networks won’t be permitted to collect data from your site for the purpose of subsequent interest-based advertising, but we’ll allow networks that comply with user privacy guidelines to show ads using these tools. Publishers can opt out of user interest targeting from these ad networks, and Google has changed our requirements for third-party ad serving to reflect this.
Google is currently only accepting ads from Google-certified ad networks in North America and Europe, but this feature will be soon available to ad networks in additional parts of the world.

Answer:AVG Resident Shield popped up on my PC to announce it had detected a "Multiple Threat

Hello and Welcome.

A Reminder....

As seen in Post #2 of our sticky topic 'NEW INSTRUCTIONS Read this Before Posting For Malware Removal Help'

Quote:

Why we don't ask you to run ComboFix from the onset

As stated by the author of ComboFix:

ComboFix is a very powerful tool which when improperly used may render your machine to a doorstop.

We first need to verify if there's any rootkits present and how they could affect our tools. DDS & GMER are preliminary scans. We use their logs to map our strategy for attack.

With these logs we can determine the infections present & decide whether to deploy ComboFix

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

I have two networks that are connected to the internet, and i want to bridge them over VPN and i need to find which would be the best VPN Firewall Router to use.

My needs basicly are to have those 2 site conected togeter, plus the ability to connect outside of one of these sites, (user-2-site).

What would anyone here recomend?

Answer:Networking: VPN site-2-site and user-2-site

3com Secure Router

PERFECT for what you want to do! I use them at each of our branch locations and have the 3com VPN router here at corporate (allows 10 IPSEC VPN tunnels), the secure routers allow 2 of each connection. Basically, you would use a secure router at each place using IPSEC VPN tunnels to each, then, you can dialin to EITHER one using either a PPTP, L2TP or an IPSEC dialup connection (dials to the ip address of the router). Also has content filtering, firewall, etc... it's VERY nice for the price, you can find the secure routers for 149 or cheaper.

I have setup a Site-to-Site VPN using Sophos UTM at each end. I set up an Ubuntu VM as a WINS Server using Samba.

So far so good. VPN Works.

My problem is with the WINS Server. I have taken two Windows 10 computers and for both of them added the IP of the WINS server under Advanced TCP/IP Settings and changed NetBIOS to Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

The results are close but not quite right. The two computers with the modified settings can now ping each other using computer name rather than IP. Other computers on each end of the VPN can not do that.

That said neither computer shows up in the Networks of the other. This is what I am trying to fix.

It appears that name resolution is working for the computers that check in with the WINS server but that the Windows 10 browsing service is not adding those computers to the network.

The LANs are 192.168.2.0/24 and 10.1.1.0/24 the WINS server is on 192.168.2.0/24 and it comes back as __MSBROWSE__ for that network. For 10.1.1.0/24 the computer that connects to the WINS server is showing __MSBROWSE__ when I check with nbtstat.

When I check services Computer Browser is running.

Can someone help me or at least point me in the right direction? This really shouldn't be this hard so I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

I'm about to ship my thinkpad p50 from the Philippines to the US using a forwarder. My p50's touchpad and track pad stopped working. Hello, I am trying to change the font size of a page on my site. I connect to the site with file zilla using the following steps:1.) I open file zilla.2.) then i type the host name (blablabla.com) the username (*********) and the password (********) and the port (****) then i click quick connect.3.) this now connects and it does let me see all the files. i get access and ability to change on the right side (the site side).my two main questions now are :1.) How do i make it show when i access the site because it is not (even if i delete the whole site name folder the site is still there)2.) Do i have to set up the FILE> "SITE MANAGER" with the user information too..... even though i can see and change the files on the right side (the site side) and it even though it connects. (Is setting up the "site manager" required in order to finalize changes or something.please help   , thanks

Answer:file zilla ...site wont change...files do...site doesnt

Hi, I use FileZilla too but i'm not sure what you are talking about...Any time you change or upload files to your server the files will automatically be time and date stamped. But I think you are talking about something else...?Could you try and re-describe your question please? It would be a good idea to add your server and connection details to the 'Site Manager' as this will save you some time if you frequently update your website.

Dear Friend,
I am Anil from India. I have recently joined the forum after struggling for a week to stablise my unstable PC. I used to have some Anti Virus software on my pc before few years. But since last few years I was not having any AV software as this PC was not being used for surfing etc.
Since I started to use it again for surfing, downloading etc., I wanted to instal avast AV software. I installed it from some recent installer file with me. But when it tried to update the virus database, I got the message that "can't connect to server". Then I tried to open avast.com. But I again got the error message "The page cannot be displayed". Then I uninstalled the avast and tried to open other antivirus sites like norton, mcafee, avg etc., but all failed.
Then I tried to update my system using automatoc update utility. But again failed. microsoft.com also failed to open.
I use GPRS connection through cellular connection to browse the network.
Now I have downloaded and installed Hijack This.

Hey everyone,

I have a customer with two offices, one in Chicago and the other in New York, and each one has dual WAN connections currently. Their current firewalls in use can only do site to site VPN with dual WANs in failover mode, not load balancing.

We are looking to implement a new firewall VPN router at each site to be able to aggregate these dual WAN lines (about 50Mbps and 70Mbps connections on each end) to combine the bandwidth into one massive site to site VPN link. If one WAN goes down, the line just downsizes seamlessly onto one WAN link with no interference.

The only product on the market we have been able to find so far at a decent price is made by a company called Peplink, specifically their 710 model firewall:

http://www.peplink.com/products/balance/model-comparison/

We spoke to their reps and found that they have tech that can do everything we are looking for. We had a chat with Barracuda support too and they seem to think that a combo of BWB230a1 with a BFWX300a1 would get this done, but we would not have uplink failover on the WAN connections which is a real bummer. Plus the fact that they say we need two boxes really knocks their solution below the nice single box option from Peplink.

Question is: Does anyone have any other suggestions on hardware? We DONT want to go the ASA route from Cisco as both our staff and the IT staff at the customer do not have the knowledge of Cisco command line for administration - the solution has to have a GU... Read more

Answer:Best dual WAN load balancing + failover site to site VPN firewall?

Stay far away from Barracuda Link Balancers. They are a pile of junk. We had 12meg Bonded T1, and 100Meg Comcast Business Class. If the Comcast ever went out for whatever reason, the T1 should have picked up, but there tech support could never figure out why it wasn't working. The Comcast when it did work, was only putting out 25Mbps through them, but when direct to modem, would give 50Mbps+. They also eat up a static IP just for themselves.

If you want site to site vpn + firewall in one, I have had great luck with the Cisco Meraki MX90. Dual WAN is super easy to setup, and VPN is even easier, with included support for VPN with non-meraki devices. It has support for link aggregation, though I don't know if it supports LAG over VPN. You could call their number and ask a few questions to find out though.

I may not have this under the correct section and please keep in mind that I am not a programmer but here goes.

I am trying to add a hyperlink in Outlook 2007 signature file that will open a child site, but the child site seems to need some personalized information in the cache that comes from opening a parent site first:

Parent site: http://www.mywildtree.com/chad/
Child Site: http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/catalog.aspx

When the child site is opened directly (without opening parent first) it loads forever. The parent site does not require any authenication it just has to be opened first and then the child site operates correctly.

Is there a simple way to have one hyperlink either a) open two sites one after the other in the same window? or b) open the childsite with a parent site dependancy (tag?, bookmark?) on the hyperlink?

I have been on google searching all afternoon and haven't had any luck yet so any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Answer:Hyperlink syntax to open a parent site and then child site

Welcome to Seven Forums chadseeg. The Shop Now link shows as actually being http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/preshop.aspx, and this appears to redirect to http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/catalog.aspx.

Firefox blames the redirection

It looks like the script on the page is written to specifically prevent going directly to the shopping catalog without going through the home page. I'm not a webmaster, so I am unsure if this is intentional or not. A Guy

Hi, I'd like to know what to do on my computer if I would like to redirect a link on a website (let's call it 'A') to another website (let's call it 'B')I know that I could just modify the file "hosts" on the windows folder, adding the dns of the 'B website' and writing the url of the 'A website', but I saw it doesn't work if the url starts with "https://...".[Note that the 'A website' is any general website, that means that is not mine, and that the url of the 'B website' it doesn't start with 'https' but with 'http'.]Is there any way to do it?Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I've done a fair amount of googling before referring myself to W10 Forums.. I hope this helps someone else in the process. Since rolling out Windows 10 we've noticed users are having difficulty accessing their personal user data drives, via File Explorer. Let me make a scenario which is understandable.

In Site 1 (HQ), we can connect to the file server (e.g access 1FS without any issues- Where user data is stored)
In the remote site (Site 2), we can do the same (e.g 2FS)

At our HQ, when running Windows 7, we are able to File Explore to 2FS but since the upgrade we're unable to. This occurs both ways.

We can ping our servers, and remote desktop.

Server infrastructure:
VMWare ESX 5
File servers in question are Windows Server 2008
ONLY Windows server 2008 R2 servers have the issue, (2008 Standard edition is fine) all patches have been applied via WSUS.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance,

IT Apprentice

Hello all,

Good to join this forum

Anyway, Please can someone support me regarding connecting a Windows Server 2008 standard that needs to connect to another Windows server in another country outside of UK (Site B). The ports 1433 and 3030 are also open in the firewall and also the Draytek 2830n router, therefore I can see the ports open via yougetsignal.com. We have 1 public (Static) IP address from BT that is already in the Draytek router on Site A (UK).

How is the simplest or easiest way to connect these 2 Window servers so a management program that uses MySQL Database server can talk to the Site B server or vice-versa) Both sites have a Public IP address.

Can this be done by the WIndows firewall inbound rules / outbound rules where the port 1433 is set. There is an option to enter a Remote IP address under 'scope' which I assume is the Site B's public IP address within the inbound firewall properties.

The other way is the VPN on the Draytek 2830n. There is an option for Lan to Lan using IPSec but not sure the best settings for Dial-out or Dial-in. There is usernames and passwords that not sure of including the Remote gateway or Remote IP to use

We have 2 different routers on Site A and Site B are not the same.

Thanks Guys

Hi, I'm a complete network newb, but am helping out a Montessori school with their issues. Hopefully someone can help.
Site A has the main WAN link coming in to a Cisco 1841 router, then going to a Sonicwall appliance, then to a 24 port unmanaged switch.
There is also a point to point link to site B. This has another Cisco 1841 router on each end of the link. At site A, it's also plugged into the 24 port switch, and plugged into another 24 port switch at site B. There is a DC with DNS and DHCP at site A, and a DHCP server at Site B. Site A's IP achema is 192.168.1.x, and site B is 192.168.2.x, with subnet masks of 255.255.255.0. The circuit sides of the point to point connection is 10.0.0.1 & 2.
The problem they've been having for the last month or so is that the connection at site B would drop all together, or be very slow and sporadic. Yesterday, I tried downloading a 4mb file from the internet, and couldn't get the whole thing, even after trying for an hour, it kept timing out.
Downloading the same file from site A, I was done in 20 seconds.

Here's the wierd part. If I do a tracert from site A to site B's server, it sometimes works, meaning it'll trace in a couple hops to the server. When it doesn't, it tries to route out over the internet, with the first hop being a 162.42 address, which is the service provider.

Century Link says the point-to-point T1 circuit is fine, but am reaching out to see if anyone can give me a hand... Read more

I have a 12U openframe post server rack that I want to move from a building in one city to a building in another. The rack can hold up to 596.7 lbs and the total weight of the equipment has been calculated to about 350 lbs, but what is the best way to tranport it. Why can't I use a 15' Uhaul truck with a built-in ramp if I ratchet strap it on one side with two parallel straps and to the back of the inside of the box truck with two straps parallel even if the rails to ratchet strap around are 3' or waste high off the ground and the height of the server rack is 25.9 or slightly over 2' off the floor or ground? Why do I have to unrack the equipment to transport the equipment considering the above and that the rack has wheels? Also isnt't the equipment safer while mounted to the rack. Why heck is someone insisting that we use their mini van and ramps to get it up into that when they don't seem to know how we'll get it out once we get it to the other site?

Answer:Best way to move a 12U openframe post server rack from site to site

I might have 50 web site tabs and am looking at one of them. All of a sudden, another web site starts with a voice and I can't determine which tab it's on. Trying to listen to two sites (or more) is ridiculous. How can I find the offending web site?

Also, some web sites will present and audio "story" which cannot be paused or stopped (unless you close the page). Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you.......

Answer:How find web site that is making voice sounds when site not in focus

Open Volume Mixer (right click Volume icon in notification area) and mute the whichever you want. The pages with sound will have green volume bar moving up and down.

Question: phishing

I recently downloaded IE7 on my DELL XP sp3.
One item now on the computer is phishing, which
evidently checks for bogus websites.

Is this phishing "program" something I need or can
I delete/diasble it somehow?
On the taskbar, a right click on the phishing icon
says I can change it's settings, but I don't know
how to do so.

I just don't want this running on my computer.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:phishing

The more levels of security you have, the better, IMO."Online phishing (pronounced like the word fishing) is a way to trick computer users into revealing personal or financial information through a fraudulent e-mail message or website. A common online phishing scam starts with an e-mail message that looks like an official notice from a trusted source, such as a bank, credit card company, or reputable online merchant. In the e-mail message, recipients are directed to a fraudulent website where they are asked to provide personal information, such as an account number or password. This information is then usually used for identity theft. Question: Is this Phishing?

I received this in my email this morning:It has come to our attention that your PayPal Billing Information records are out of date. That requires you to update the Billing Information.Failure to update your records will result in account termination. Please update your records within 24 hours. Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing problems. Please click here to update your billing records. It had what looks like the paypal logo etc - but that would be easy to clone. When I followed the link there was no little padlock to show a secure site. What do you think? Phishermen?

Answer:Is this Phishing?

Can you contact paypal by some other means to check the email and see if your account needs updating?.

Question: phishing

I received a spoof email trying to get my info. I did click on the link because it looked just like paypal, but when I saw what it wanted, I opened another page and went directly to paypal and saw that it wasn't them.

Although I didnt' give them any any info and did change my password on paypal, I am worried about the safety of my computer since I clicked on the link.

What should I do?

I have a good antivirus and use xp firewell and also have a router.

thanks

Answer:phishing

Hi Jeannie,

If you didn't give them any sensitive information or download any e-amail attachments (not likely in phishing scams), then you probably have nothing to worry about.

I would suggest that you take this opportunity to have a look at Chaslang's recommendations here ---> How to protect yourself from malware

Some things to note:

-- Be sure your AV (and other tools) is updated regularly

-- Update your Java as per Chas' instructions

-- Install Spyware Blaster if you have not already done so

-- Even though you are probably quite safe behind a router and Windows Firewall, you might want to consider one of the software firewalls in the above link. They are "bi-directional" and will alert you to outgoing traffic (such as a baddie trying to "phone home")

Lastly, if you feel your machine has some malware, you might want to work through the steps in the Read & Run Sticky at the top of the forum.

Best

FYI, That's not my name. My name is steve. Also, I never get emails from email.paypal.com. Can you tell if it's really an "L" or a capital "I" or a "1" at the end for paypa_.com?

Dunno, but I had it for a while and it kinda creeps me out.

Answer:Is This Phishing? (56k=Sorry)

Try looking at the headers. Or forward it to [email protected], and they can tell you for sure.

Question: Possible Phishing

I have been getting a pop up that says I need to call a phone number cause I have a virus. First of all how do they know and then ???? Are they a phishing problem for me and how do I make them go away? There is also a voice just starts up talking how I really need to make that call as soon as possible.

Also I have paid Viper for a virus program. Is it good and is there a better one for free out there?

Answer:Possible Phishing

You need to download and install Malwarebytes free.
Update it and scan with it.
You need to un-tick trial version to get Free.
There is a chance that you can't install because the malware has embedded itself into your PC.
So you will need to install in Safe Mode.

I know nothing about Viper sorry but Malwarebytes is a malware scanner and not a Virus scanner and will run hand in hand with Viper.
