Service Control Manager EVENTID:7026 Boot-Start or System-Start Driver(s) Failed to Load

Question: Service Control Manager EVENTID:7026 Boot-Start or System-Start Driver(s) Failed to Load

I recently had to install a new battery for my computer. After doing so I started having this problem and receiving the following Error from the "Service Control Manager" Event ID:7026 The following Boot-Start or System-Start driver(s)
failed to load: ppfd_vt_1_10_0_24 Param 1. The issues I am having are; Unable to completely "SHUT DOWN" unless I press the power button, this is after I have already selected the "shut down" option in the Start menu. Never
had to press the power button to power off my computer. Also, at "START-UP", I get as far as a black screen with a white flashing cursor in upper left-hand corner. At this point I am stuck, nothing takes me out of this state unless I press the "POWER"
button to shut-down. In order to start-up & Boot, I disconnect AC Adapter, remove battery, wait about 20 seconds, re-install battery, power adapter, and push power button. Now my computer is all good. Can anyone help me with this, I've researched for 2
weeks and am no where. Thanks for any help. My computer is quite old, 2010 Sept., but I'm hoping that I don't have to purchase a new one...(I'm a lil cheap) lol

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

Has anyone ran into the Event ID in the Title?
(Event ID: 7026, Message: The Following boot-start or System-start Driver(s) failed to load: TMEBC)

The user is getting CHKDSK every time they boot up the machine and it fails within seconds of it starting.
I removed the Scheduled task under the AutoChk area in the Task Scheduler.

Anyone have anything on this driver or able to assist?

Zach

Problem:
My Windows 7 Professional "Explorer" tree (not Internet Explorer) no longer lists my CD/DVD ROM DRIVE under the Device Manager/Drives. It used to.

I've checked the System Registry and it has lots of info about that ATAPI drive, but my system fails to find the "cdrom" driver (which is the one Windows 7 uses by default). It's not a 3rd-party driver.

The tray on my CD/DVD drive opens and closes properly. Windows just won't recognize the drive, so I can't use it.

I'm hoping someone can offer a 'manual' solution to get it working again. I do not want to spend a month to reinstall my OS and tons of hard-to-configure software. I've read countless other posts and solutions, both here and on MS's sites. The info on MS's sites is not even understandable. It's too vague and often doesn't even apply to my situation.

Note: The error (7026) message is:

Briefly:
My old system hasn't been powered on for about a year. Problem was the onboard video failed (I think)

Recently replaced it with a video card from another system (riva TNT) and bought some memory (system wouldn't boot, determined that the memory was bad)

Now the system booted but win2K wouldn't work. No problem I have XP now...

After multiple error during the xp install I finally got through it...only the computer will only boot in safe mode..

Initially thought it was a hardare conflict so I booted in safe mode with networking and systematically cleared all the yellow ??? in device manager

Still will not boot normally

Checked event log got the following error:
Event 7026: The following boot-start or system-start drivers failed to load:

Amdk7
fips

Searched the net found a M$ support about it

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306458

couldn't find amdk7.sys but managed to update the driver over the net, now its there...yet I get the same error

I did the regedit described but no folder called "parameters"

Made one....didn't work....deleted the value
added the key to my available folder....didn't work

I'm at wits end....I've been working on this (off and on) for a month

Can anyone help with this one?????

Sorry if this has already been answered/wrong place. I looked at Google but thought I double check here (since the solutions via Google seem to be refering to a different OS to mine)

First of: Windows Vista, SP2, 64 bit.

Now sometimes (and not now since I am writing this) my Keyboard/Mouse just stops working. It freezes completely and I am unable to use it and am hence required to restart the computer. This happens at random occasions but it usually involves opening some program or what not (I noticed a prominent pattern that the mouse/keyboard freezes whenever I go to speedtest.com measure my speed and then once the download speed bar is finished and upload is about to begin my computer freezes).

I had a look at my event viewer and noticed this:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
i8042prt

Now I am not sure whether this appears at the start and then once I run a program or do something (like go on speedtest.com) the commuter then freezes (i.e. my mouse/keyboard is non-responsive) or the error message comes up after my computer freezes but any help in fixing this mouse/keyboard freezing would be very grateful.

The solution to fixing this problem I founds was to go to Registry editor and change the Start D word from 1 to 4 (but I noticed some saying to delete it completely and yet other sources to change it from 1 to 0 and yet even others to change something that I don't even have under that folder). If I was to tamper with the reg informa... Read more

If I was to tamper with the reg information, is it possible that I wont ever get access to my keyboard/mouse? My worry is that I might change some value so that I will have no way of getting to the computer with the keyboard/mouse (I am not good with bios) and would not be able to get help on the internet since I can't connect!

It is bad idea

DWORD Start may have following values

0 -boot ,1 -system ,2- auto ,3 -demand, 4 -disabled. Surly if you'll set to 4 you lose access to keyboard and mouse.Don't modify anything.Find folder C:\Windows\Minidump pack it and attache to post.If Minidump folder is empty use verifier tool to diagnose wrong drivers read here:http://www.vistax64.com/973966-post8.html

Guys, I'm running Windows XP and recently when I turn on my PC it makes a single beeb and then seems to run OK.

Tonight, I was running Firefox and the system seemed to slow, before becoming completely unresponsive. I had Task Manager open at the time, however when I tried to shut Firefox down the PC started bleeping like mad and I was forced to do a hard shut down.

I waited about 1 minute and then rebooted and immedietly went into the Error log and found the following entry:

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: StarOpen"

I tried Googling a fix with no luck and I can't find StarOpen in the Services, Apps or Program files. Nor could I find it listed in the Device Manager or the Boot-start list in msconfig.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

I checked through the Event log in Administrator tools.
I got the following error: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: BANTExt

What is it?

I googled BANTExt and found out it's BelArc Advisor. Is it true?

How do I stop this error?

Answer:The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: BANTExt

Yes, BANText.sys is the Belarc Advisor system driver file.It is started automatically from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, or RunServicesOnce entry in the registry everytime Windows starts. To prevent the error you would need to find and remove that entry in the registry.

hi,

I am currently making a device specific module for microsoft MPIO. I have successfully installed the mpio and my own DSM. However, during start-up, an error message comes out saying: "At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details."

When I checked the event log, it says:

The following boot-start or system-start driver failed to load: TrailNavi

TrailNavi is the name of the device specific module that i am making. I am currently using a 32bit server with Windows 2003 OS.

I am trying to test my DSM, but could not do so because the driver can't be loaded..

Any help would be great..

Monday couldn't boot up PC, had to go to system recovery and restore to previous day.

Log files show below that 4 things failed to load.

Tuesday couldn't boot up PC again.. tried to restart like 4-5 times.. Finally comes up and in the logs there's numerous things that failed to load. Running a sfc /scannow right now.

Any ideas what this could be related to or what is causing it?

Answer:Solved: Boot-Start or System-Start Drivers failed to load.

MpFilter is a driver associated with Microsoft Security Essentials... It looks like that was causing issues. Windows Updates had an update for it.. So I downloaded update.. Restared and it worked fine. Removed MS Security Essentials and installed Symantec istead.

Working for the time being...

I'm not sure where to even begin to fix these problems. Some online searches suggested doing a system repair but I want to get some more feedback here before proceeding.

Here is the message from the event log:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AFD
cmdGuard
cmdHlp
CSC
DfsC
discache
ElbyCDIO
inspect
MpFilter
NetBIOS
NetBT
nsiproxy
Psched
rdbss
spldr
tdx
vwififlt
Wanarpv6
WfpLwf

I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues. I do have another recent thread here regarding system crashes so I'll leave that alone in this post.

TIA
TaterTot

Answer:the following boot start or system start drivers failed to load

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, or a Repair Install would a better first option.

You will have to reinstall the third-party drivers again yourself from their website.

Hope this helps,

nv4_disp.dll is the nVidia driver. AmdK8, AvgLdx86, AvgMfx86, and Fips are all crucial elements of your processor. Reinstall the display driver first, to solve the BSOD problem.

Answer:Service Control Manager Error 7026

nv4_disp is your NVidia driver. Start by installing the latest version.

The failure of the AVG rootkits to load may well be due to their being blocked by a serious infection.

Hi all.

My pc has been hanging randomly and I have to use the power button to shut down/restart.

I've checked in events and there is this error which seems to be causing the problem as the time matches with the hang time.

I posted another topic with another bsod issue in the bsod section, and I was told to run some tests.

A day or so ago, I tried and changed Driver Verifier settings as were instructed in one of the threads here which also mentions that it is an iffy thing to do.

Anyway, I lost windows and could not start again, luckily I had a backup made, and after formatting my HD, loaded it on to it. This error seems to be a driver issue (Screenshot).

Should I go down the Driver Verifier route again ? To be honest I don't want to. If I lose windows again it would be very frustrating.

I've run the following tests so far here

I have no driver issues showing up in Device Manager, so that looks ok.

Please advise. Thank you.

Answer:The following system start driver(s) failed to load: mbmiodrvr

I looked around and found a reference to Mother Board Monitor which at least sounds like it might be the culprit.

Do you have that application installed, or some other temperature / fan speed monitoring sw?

Alex Van Kaam, the author of Mother Board Monitor, stopped development in 2004 citing his frustration getting technical information from mfgrs.

Anyway, if you have Mother Board Monitor installed, remove it. If you have other monitoring sw, post what you have and someone might know more about that sw (MBM source used?)

If you haven't tried a Clean Boot, here's a tutorial you can follow:

Hi All

Can somebody please help with the following annoying little problem I am encountering?

I can't seem to detect and repair the source of the aforementioned titled 'Error Message'. The message reads (exactly) as follows:

"The Cfg Registry key denied access to SYSTEM account programs so the Service Control Manager took ownership of the Registry key".

It sounds a bit spooky and has got me completely baffled and bemused?

Appreciate any suggestions... THANKS.

Answer:Error, EventID: 7028, Service Control Manager

Well it may be a spooky problem, but the error isn't so much. Permissions are important and in your error its telling you 'hey this registry key did not allow SYSTEM access. SYSTEM is a high level access, and generally has more permissions than administrators. In this case the SCM took ownership of the key.

So the question is, is that ok? Should we allow this? Is there some problem that SYSTEM could not do this as it should?

To understand that we need to know more about the registry key item and error code.

Without knowing what caused this message (where you installing/uninstalling, doing nothing related, browsing the web, etc.) my first result on CFG key is it's a trojan:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_126220.htm

From the article:

This is a remote access trojan. When run, it drops itself and its config file to the "Program Files" folder such as:
C:\Program Files\Remote\RUNDLLL.exe
C:\Program Files\Remote\setup.ini

It creates the registry key to load itself when the host system is restarted.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "sys" = C:\Program Files\Remote\RUNDLLL.exe

It then opens tcp port 4778 and waits for remote commands. It also acts as a keylogger.

Hello,

Can someone please help me find out what driver or service 'ksop' is? Or, how to fix it?

I've been troubleshooting my Windows 7 laptop to try and find the cause of random, sudden shutdowns and a bunch of 7026 and 7001 errors. This 'ksop' error pops up every time I reboot.

I tried clean-booting, SFC, CHKDSK, etc, but I can't narrow down a service as the culprit. I tried Googling 'ksop' but I couldn't find anything that explained what it was, or a record of anyone else asking about this issue.

Anyone out there have any idea?

Here's the event info:

Answer:Event ID 7026: 'ksop' driver failed to load?

So far all I've been able to find out is that 'KSop' is a pool tag, and it's associated with something related to Windows 7. I still don't know what driver it's for, how to find out, or how to fix.

If anyone has any ideas, clues, or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Please, I'm at my wit's end!

Help. I'm getting this every time I boot up my computer.
It happened after I had my computer on "sleep". When I woke up and tried to open my laptop, it shut off and showed me this:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc an restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc0000001

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

It simply takes me to the same screen when I hold "F8".
So I cannot get the "Repair your computer." Option.

I do not have the windows installation disc.

Please try helping me. Also, all I can do is basically start up my computer and it takes me to that screen every time.
Thanks.

Login and once desktop shows that error appears on my screen and sometimes my audio service isn't working (but it can't be the the driver for my video/audio card because sometimes it works and other things will crash meaning a corruption of some system driver.)

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop model 1955, running Windows XP Home with sp2 and all the updates. Whenever I start up Windows I get an error under the Event Viewer.

It says under System:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
PptIRDA

The source is Service Control Manager and the event ID is 7026.

I have Norton Antivirus running all the time and it says I am virus-free. I also have their Internet Security package and use their firewall. I have run Spybot Search and Destroy as well as Ad-Aware and seem to have no spyware that can be detected by those programs. I also periodically run Norton SystemWorks and their one button checkup. I generally run CrapCleaner every day. I have recently run the disk optimizer in Norton, and am quite defragmented.

This problem has been going on for months. My suspicion is that this might be some kind of remote data access thing, but I can't find a driver with this name when I list all the drivers. Another possibility I guess might be a driver for the infrared port, if such exists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
joemiller

Answer:Boot Start Or System Start Driver Failure

My personal feelings are along the same lines as you. I think your Infrared port drivers are corrupt for whatever reason. I would contact Toshiba for the drivers and reinstall them. See if they are available on the web. I checked this link: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp and found that the model you say 1955 has sub models S801 through S807. So you need a more definitive model number.

Hi -

If Windows came pre-installed on your system, contact the system manufacturer to purchase a replacement Windows OEM DVD. Most charge $20-$30.

If you own a full retail copy of Windows, contact Microsoft for replacement media --> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246

At times after loading the desktop in functions like wireless connection (Connect to) or system administration (Control Panel - Administrative tools - Services). There is information in this forum about a patch for a tvtscheduler 99% cpu problem. This isn't the problem. Task manager doesn't show a cpu problem. Seems that critical services aren't turned on. How do I turn on all critical services if the "Services" function cannot be accessed? The PC functions in safe mode.

Hello all,

I have been having a problem with my PC for the last ...uhh... couple of years where it will randomly, without warning, reboot itself. I cannot correlate any rhyme or reason for when it occurs, and sometimes it happens several times per day, and sometimes just once. The message in the event viewer that occurs just as the system reboots itself is "The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." - I googled this and found that it was connected to Rhapsody, which I promptly uninstalled. This alleviated the problem COMPLETELY for about a week and a half, until two days ago when it began all over again. I had not installed or uninstalled anything when the change occurred. Here is my HijackThis log (I'm not sure if you need this but I saw other topics include this).

Hi all having another head scratcher, I recently built a new computer a few weeks ago and everything has been running smooth up an till a few days ago.

I have this issue where if the computer is left doing nothing for around 10 mins it freezes up completely and cannot get into it without holding in the power button to power it off and let it boot up again, what is frustrating is that i could be working on it for hours with a bunch of heavy applications running like adobe cs or running games like bf3 and it will be fine but as soon as it goes idle for a short period it freezes?

It also happened a few moments ago, but this time it was as soon as I powered the computer on and logged in.

I have searched through the event viewer and there appears to be a pattern every time this happens I get the following error message

The AODDriver4.2 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

A few days i was getting this once before the freeze but now it appears twice in the logs.

There was also another one, but I think I have fixed it as it has not appeared in the event viewer in the last two crashes.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
cdrom

I have done a bit of research on the AODDriver 4.2 service, and apparently it is linked to my ATI graphics card somehow but there is not alot of posts on the net about this issue. I have included a screenshot of my amd vision engine information.

Hello and Happy New Year!I'm having a wee bit of trouble with my Windows XP system and I'm hoping this particular problem will be an easy one to solve. (My unit: Dell XPS 600)Beginning in early November my computer began crashing. When checking my 'Event Log' there is an ERROR log around this time (or leading up to each crash) that reads:Source: Service Control ManagerCategory: NoneEven ID: 7026Description: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: LbdnvraidTo make a long story sort of short, for the last two weeks I've been trying to research and troubleshoot the BSOD problems, which first lead me to a possible driver failure associated with my printer after sending the error report to Microsoft. I updated this and included many other "optional" updates to hardware and software. Soon after, I received new BSOD error messages, which led me to discover RAM failure using Microsoft Memory Diagnostics. I'm not certain that this problem was always the problem or was a result of the hardware/software driver failure the first BSOD screens pointed me to. I have since replaced both modules (going from 2 - 512modules to an upgrade of 2G). Now I currently do NOT have any BSOD problems (this is only day two) BUT now that I'm paying closer attention to the Event Log (because I'm not certain this fixed my bigger problem), I have noticed that the original ERROR is still occurring with each boot up.I'm concerned that ... Doing so makes it a lot easier to figure out what file is being referenced, since various types of files may possibly have the same initial portion of a given filename.http://www.fileinfo.com/help/windows-show-extensions.htmlThe error message either relates to installed drivers which need to be replaced...or they relate to items which have been removed from yur system but which have startup pointers. If Ad-Aware is currently installed...I suggest that you uninstall it...then reinstall it with a more current version from the Lavasoft website. If Ad-Aware is not currently installed...download/install AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx. Take a look at the Logon tab only.If you see anything on the list that relates to Ad-Aware or Lavasoft...disable it by removing the check mark. The nvraid.sys driver...are you running a RAID configuration?FWIW: I have an nVidia chipset on this system, but I don't have a nvraid.sys file installed and I don't use the RAID capability of the motherboard. So I would check the BIOS to see how yours is set up.LouisEdited to remove unintended comment.

ok thanks for the many replies first of all, probably nobody got inspired by so much text I agree.

As my Mobo Asus P8P67 has a design error (built 2011), I first decided to send it back to Asus.
First time to disassemble and soon reassemble a PC.

If technically all ok, I will proceed with the main issue : pnpclass.sys blocks in safe mode. All other boot modes being out.

It seems to leave all doors of errors open, so again if anybody would help out, I wouldn't reject the support.

Hello!

I've been looking in my computer's event viewer after a serious error with the eventID labeled 1003 occurred, and I just noticed that there are two other errors, 7026 and 7000, that keeps appearing everyday to as far as the viewer can date back (7/7/07, to be precise.) Of course, there are other errors too, but since they do not appear as frequently as 7026 and 7000, I thought I should focus on the more recent and repetitive ones.

Here are the properties:

After the random restart in my computer, I received this error message:

Any advice in getting rid of those errors is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I've got a dual-boot system with Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64. When I boot up, the first screen I see is the Grub menu. If I choose Windows, then I go through Windows boot menu, although I have it set not to display anything because I now have only one copy of Windows on the machine - I had two copies of Win 7 Ultimate before I decided to remove one and go with Ubuntu instead. So normally Windows would boot up. That does happen most of the time, but occasionally - maybe once in 25 or so boots, Windows starts to boot, then the system reboots, and I get back into Grub. I then select Windows again, and I get the message "Windows failed to start" and a list of options. I choose Start Windows Normally, and it boots up and runs fine.
I don't see anything in Event Viewer that would suggest a HDD problem, I have run many tests on drive, memory, and CPU and all PASS.
I ran "sfc /scannow", and it reports no problems. I have run CHKDSK, and again, no problems.

I have been having this problem for a while, long before I installed Ubuntu, so I cannot blame it for corrupting anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks

A few weeks ago a techie friend tidied up my Vista laptop. Coincidentally a few days later, when I switched on my desktop (windows7) all my documents had disappeared. I reinstalled from a backup.
I do think this must be a coincidence.
However I now find that after working on the desktop for a while, clicking Start and then Control Panel or Computer result in a explorer.exe "System Failled Call" window appearing.
Restarting clears this but it happens again.
I have scanned with AVG & windows defender and also used the microsoft system scan tool. Nothing untoward showed up.
Attempted a system restore but no luck as it wouldn't work.
I ran Task manager, killed explorer.exe, went back into task manager, new task and typed "explorer.exe". This has worked for the moment.
Finally each time I close down I get the message programs are still running tho' none are listed. My only option is to force closedown. I feel these problems are all related.

Incidentally, when another user logged in their closedown was clean.
Very confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Clicking Start, Control panel/computer results in "System Call Failed"

I first would create a new Restore Point. Then I would go to MSCONFIG via WinKey--R and either disable some startup items or select Diagnostic Startup. If these stop the problem then focus on what is enabled in a full boot - including non-MS services on the Services tab of MSCONFIG.

Okay, so this just happened out of nowhere. Nothing seems to have led up to this -- the system booted and shut down successfully, and no software updates or installs were done during the period of time it was on when it was last working. I've attempted many things, but none seem to work. /ScanOs reports no OS detected, while startup repair said the OS was booted successfully. bcdedit also shows no directories linked to "unknown". CHKDSK reports no bad sectors, so such can be discarded. This happens every time I attempt to boot to Windows 7 (Home Edition, x64). I have a copy of Fedora 17 set to dualboot with it, but it hadn't been booted for over a week before the event. Any suggestions?

Answer:Error at boot : 0xc000000e - The system has failed to start because a required device is inaccessible.

HiThe /ScanOs switch shows the operating systems installed that aren't already in the BCD so it can show 0 and you are still okay.Assuming C: is the drive that Win7 is installed on, in the Startup Repair command line can you typeC:press ENTERdirpress ENTERdo you see more than one WINDOWS directory? If C: gives you a "File not found" error, try D: (C: can sometimes be assigned to the otherwise hidden System Reserve volume)Also does it say anything more on the screen than...Error at boot : 0xc000000e - The system has failed to start because a required device is inaccessible. What I mean is, is it a Blue Screen or a Black screen telling you to ...1. I am attempting to the load the software for a Canon Mx850 printer to my Lenovo PC with Windows Vista.

I get the message Print Spooler Service has been stopped. I have checked in the services area and it is set to automatic. When I attempt to start it. I get the following Error: 1068 dependency service or group failed to start.

I have gone to the command prompt and typed the following: sc config spooler depend= RPCSS however I get message access denied. I am set as the system administrator. Not sure what to do at this point. Very frustrating. Printer works fine when connected to laptop. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Print Spooler Service stopped Error 1068 dependency service or group failed to start

Double click on the Print Spooler service to open its Properties. On the Dependencies tab see upon what it depends, and trace back to see if the cause/fix can be determined. Caveat: no guarantee this will work any better than your command attempt.

Yesterday my wife's HP ENVY laptop began to have problems; screen blinking and slow typing.  The laptop is running Windows 8.  I ran MiniToolBox and found numerous errors for HpConnectedRemoteService.exe continually terminating and restarting.  After finding a post on this site about that service I uninstalled it.  Things seemed to be fine after uninstalling it, but then I found the Print Spooler Service wouldn't start.  I finally fixed it.

After all of this I decided to run MiniToolBox again and found error messages stating "The HTTP Service service failed to start due to the following error: %%1009.  I don't know if this is a problem and if her PC is infected.

The link to Speccy is: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/nuE8q6rLm8H0gWnsGDhyGDE

The MiniToolBox output from this morning is below.  I've also run ADWCleaner and Malwarebytes.  Malwarebytes found nothing and ADWCleaner found some things from another old tool that had been uninstalled.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Could this be shutting Windows down while in use?

Boot Manager Failed to load - ntoskrnl.exe

Heh all... brand new to the forums but have been here for the past two days trying everything I can find to try and get my Vista Ultimate machine working again

Unfortunately... no luck soo far

I shut the computer off the other night before work, came home in the morning and rebooted... and upon loading got a black screen "Windows Boot Manager" coming up asking/telling me to "Repair" the computer.

File: \Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Status: 0xc000098
Info: Windows failed to load because the kernal is missing, or corrupt

I installed my vista disc and went through the repair... nada. I then tried a restore... nada... and now am at a loss.

Is there a way to copy the file via the Command Prompt to the Vista drive from the dvd? Is it that simple (ha... I know... it never is)?

Thanks for any direction you can give me on this... next up is a new Hard Drive so I can try and save my important files and mail... but that will not be here for a week or so (joys of living in a small town).

Answer:Boot Manager Failed to load - ntoskrnl.exe

Hello Medic583, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Other than a clean reinstall, you might try a Repair (upgrade) install to see if it can fix Vista for you.

Hi,
I hope this is the correct forum for this problem. The night of April 23 my wife's laptop running Window 8 began to experience problems with HP Connect Remote and then the Print Spooler would not start. HP recommended uninstalling HP Connect Remote, which I did. I found something to fix the Print Spooler; it appeared to be a problem with Print Spooler dependencies. I used a tool called MiniToolBox to look for other errors after the Print Spooler was fix, and it showed the following errors related to the HTTP Service, which will not start.

Hi,

When I attempt to open "cmd" using "Run as administrator" I am getting the following error:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
The dependency service or group failed to start.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Maro

Answer:Dependency or service failed to start.

AFAIK - cmd.exe has the following dependencies:

msvcrt.dll
KERNEL32.dll
USER32.dll

Have you tried running SFC.EXE /SCANNOW?

Quote:

SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.

If that doesn't fix it, then I'd suggest trying one of these free antimalware scans: Free Online AntiMalware Scanners
If it turns out that you're infected, please follow the steps here: NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help - Tech Support Forum

(edited the zip folder in) Hey, so I tried searching everywhere for the answer to this issue, I posted on the answer.microsoft.com forum and this indian guy said I had to do a clean boot, did that, and it didn't work, and they haven't responded again. But then yesterday I didn't get the error all day, then I turned off my computer, and it did it again earlier

So I'm not good with computers. Like at all. And my first problem was the "error 10016" and I looked it up for hours and did the component/registry editer thing to assign permission, and for me that was like I became a god lmao. Then I had a wifi issue, looked that up too. I have 2 identical wifis for some reason. suddenlink and then suddenlink-5g. and the 5g one hasn't been able to connect and says socket registries are missing, but that didn't bug me. My problem that I've come for help is randomly my computer (asus t100) will crash, not blue screen, just the screen goes grey and then crumbles to black. I turn it back on, half the time it freezes while on the asus logo and I have to force restart, then if It does load, the event log says
So I looked at the sticky and downloaded that scan thing, so I'll attach that here.

And all of this happened conveniently after I downloaded this risque file that I foolishly ran without antivirus. It was to get a product code for a game since I lost my product code a while ago. Dumb how they make you do that. But anyway, can someone please help with this? I'll love you f... Read more

He got, on is "server", some software that he paid for (NovaBackup v.12, SolidWorks, Sage accounting, etc) but he didn't take a service plan so he can use them, but can't reinstall them.

Have you an idea ?

Thanks a lot!

explorer.exe won't run on startup. On the "Welcome" screen, there's only half startup jingle playing, then it goes black, and the only thing I see is the Command Prompt. I took a look at the Event Viewer. Here's what I found:

The WMS service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

I probably messed something up in the registry editor. I deleted following registry keys:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor

I recovered it from a new user account, but it didn't help. I don't know what to do anymore. The Shell string in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon is good.

Hey, so I tried searching everywhere for the answer to this issue, I posted on the answer.microsoft.com forum and this indian guy said I had to do a clean boot, did that, and it didn't work, and they haven't responded again.

I'll love you forever

Answer:The Hardlock service failed to start (and more)

Oh wait, it says there's no files in that zip folder wtf. I'll run the thing again
http://prntscr.com/awrlfc is this why?

dang and right as I edited this I just got like 20 10016 errors. ughhhhhhhhh

"Bonjour Service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
I have tried a lot of different things to fix this. I haven't had iTunes since September '08. Turned off my firewall, tried download only, disabled Bonjour, called Apple and Dell for support and no one could help me. I may have gotten a virus in September which could have restricted my privileges but my computer has since been fine. Please help!

Well, this one is a doozy. I have installed Vista x64 on a new hardrive after formatting it. Everything runs great until I Windows Update installs Service Pack 1.

I've been getting the same as a previous thread here, Boot Manager Failed to load - ntoskrnl.exe, but I'm able to use Auto Recovery with the Windows CD to get it working again.

Question: is the Service Pack 1 bugged from Microsoft.com? I have installed 3 times to get the same result.

Is there another mirror to get SP1?

I have a problem with my ThinkCentre E72 (Windows 8). Suddenly, it shuts down with "shut-down" screen. Later, in my Event Viewer, I found the following System Warning:"The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001" where the source of problem is Kernel-PnP. Only thing that is plugged in my computer is mouse, keyboard and monitor. Many thanks,Matija

Answer:E72 - The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001

In case anyone else is affected by this, please have a look at my post in Kernel-pnp (PLEASE HELP). Best regards // ThinkErEr

I am trying to enter my serial number for AVG but I cannot get the program to proceed, I get an error message every time, the more info link leads to: http://www.avg.com/us-en/app-issue?A...err=-536805284

which tells me that it requires UAC elevation. Except it will not show up at all on Windows 10. I Googled the problem but only results on how to disable UAC were provided, there was nothing on it not showing up at all. Immediately following, I get the following error "the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" Which only results including Microsoft results pertained to W98 and dot net framework 1.1. There isn't anything on Windows 10 on the message. I wasted no time providing feedback on the page via "no this was not helpful" and mentioned that this is Windows 10 we're talking about, not Windows 98.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Edit: It turns out that almost nothing is working, task manager, CMD, anything administrative all gives that error

Answer:No UAC and the service did not respond to the start or control request

How did you get to Windows 10? Did it come with the computer or did you upgrade? If upgrade, how long ago. If less that 30 days you can roll back to the previous OS and try again.

Follow these instructions: How to Go Back to the Previous Windows from Windows 10

If you decide to do this, please make an image backup first to protect yourself from loss of data or programs. I recommend using Macrium Reflect Free and put the image on an external USB 3 hard drive ($60 US for a 1TB drive).

For about a year I have been receiving on boot-up the message "Windows could not start driver configuration service". I may(and stress may) have inadvertently erased that service by accident. I cleaned up a lot of file about a year ago and I think I started getting this message right after that. Now my system is getting unstable and give me the BSOD quite abit. Is there anything I can do like copying the service from my other Window7 box? Any advice is appreciated.

Answer:Keep Receiving "Windows could not start driver config service" on boot

Please take a picture of the error message and attach it using Manage Attachments button in reply box.

Is it possible you have the wording incorrect. It needs to be verbatim.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command to check System file integrity.

Hi guys,

Hopefully one of you can help me.

Was playing a game yesterday, and it froze on me and I had to do a hard reboot. Afterwards, I noticed a big red X through my network icon. Hovering over it, it tells me 'dependency service or group failed to start' and when I try to diagnose it, it tells me there is no network adapter installed or configured. It basically acts like no network is there at all. Now it seems after hours of googling and reading a ton of forums that this is a pretty common issue, with a bunch of suggested fixes: I've tried all I can find, and none seem to work! =(

I'm running Vista Home Premium, and so far I've tried:

*Running virus scans

*Using system restore to return to an earlier point.

*Installing SP2

*Going into command and doing 'netsh winsock reset' and 'netsh int ip reset' The first seems to work, but the 2nd tells me 'There's no user specified settings to be reset'

*Going into command and doing 'sfc /scannow' Which finds errors but doesn't fix them.

*Replacing nlasvc.dll in system32

*Doing some registry edit involving Spooler

*Reinstalling network card

*Buying entirely new network card

*And a bunch of other small things I can't remember
I'm entirely at a loss, and don't own a Vista disc to try and reinstall (PC shipped with Vista), and can't repair using the Recovery CD as I somehow have no backups either. So maybe there's someone ... Read more

I was looking at my system event log in the administrative console and repeatedly see this error message: NetBEUI protocol service failed to start due to missing file". The file is missing, but I don't see this protocol listed in my network settings and I can't find it in the services listed on the administrative tools console. It's obviously trying to start. How can I remove all references to NetBEUI from my computer. Every instance of advice I found on the internet was 'remove it', but I couldn't find out how (specifically in XP). Thanks PAJ

Answer:NetBEUI protocol service failed to start. (XP)

Since it is not installed by default, it is difficult to say why this is happening in the first place. You might try installing it and then removing it to see if that doesn't help resolve the problem.

You can add it as a installable protocol by going to the VALUEADD \ MSFT \ NET \ NETBEUI
directory on the CD ROM.

Note: %SYSTEMROOT% refers to the drive and directory where you installed WindowsXP.
Typically this is in the C:\WINDOWS directory

Copy the nbf.sys into the %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ directory
Copy netnbf.inf into the %SYSTEMROOT%\INF\ directory
Open the Network connection properties for your local area network and use "Install..." button to add NetBEUI protocol

Hi Folks,

I ahve a problem. Event Viewer displays the following boot error:

The COM+ Messages service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Indeed - the service also fails to start while manually started from Services console...

But there is no info about the missing file or any other additional information.

I realized it's hard to find good resources about the importance of COM+ Messsages service.

Can you tell me how severe the problem is and how to fix it (system re-instal in not the option ) ?

Thanks ahead,
Ziggi

Hey guys,
I'm running an amd 1.4ghz with 256 megs of ram and windows xp 2002 sp2

Heres the problem, in as much detail as i can give. I know alot of people are having problems with the Network Connections folder since sp2 came out, and alot of people are trying to fix em' so here goes.

First up, after installing sp2 i can no longer seeing ANYTHING in the network connections folder. The following is the error i receive only if you refresh the window.

"The Network Connections folder was unable to retrieve the list of Network adapters on your machine. Please make sure that the network connections service is enabled and running on your machine."

Before completing the steps below in the microsoft support website the network connections folder would "hang" or "think" for ages, and THEN show me nothing.

The Network connections service is set to manual, Log on is set to local account and "let this service interact with desktop" is checked. The service isn't started but if i try and start it manually i get this error ->

"Could not start the Network Connections service on local computer.

Error 126: The Specified module could not be found."

If i try and check the dependencies of the service i get this error -> (even though i know it relys on RPC)

"Service Dependencies.

Interface: Class Not Registered."
said problem is apparently "fixed" by completing the steps outlined in ->

Hey
I have a HP Presario F500 and yesterday, when i tried to connect to the internet through an ethernet cable (my wireless stopped working a while ago) it didn't work. I checked out the internet status and i got a message saying "dependency service or group failed to start, connection status: unknown"
I tried troubleshooting it but it said that it can't do it because the Network Diagnostic Policy hasn't been started and when I try to start it I get another error message saying "error 1114, dynamic link library unable to initialize",
I've tried both "netsg winsock reset" and "scf/ scannow" but neither worked.
Some-one help me please!
Thanks

Jess
