Preferred Solution: Opencl.dll can not be repaired

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just bought this new i7 z510. Downloaded and tried to run this program called resolve lite for video. Install the program and open it, it says NO Open CL acceleration hardware found.  What the hell does one need to buy a new dam laptop if it doesn't even have up to date things like open cl in it.   If someone knows how to instal a program that fakes open cl or something so I can run resolve please tell me. Thanks.

Question: OpenCL

I have both an Intel HD 4600 GPU (Core i7 4790k CPU), and Radeon R9 285 card in my desktop. Anyways, since the HD is pretty much unused I decided to enable it in UEFI settings for the purpose of running OpenCL stuff on it.

Anyways I'm looking for software that can take advantage of OpenCL.

Answer:OpenCL

It hasn't really taken off kind of like WiDi. Good luck finding anything worthwhile that uses it.

Ok so I was trying to open a Model_Source file in Unity with Blender and I was getting "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) and I spent hours trying all these different solutions and I think I have tracked it down to a corrupted file. So eventually I found out to use sfc /scannow In cmd and when finished it said Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. and I can't find a way to manually repair it. The corrupted that kept coming up was opencl.dll and I have been looking and I can't find a good answer.

hey guys long time lurker here, usually i find solutions on my problem but this time around, i have no idea what to do!

Short story: ran sfc /scannow and got the message "found corrupt files but cannot repair," specifically regarding Opencl.dll. Can i fix this w/o doing a reset?

Long Story (in outline form):
- got a new SSD
-with my old HDD still in place(with w7) installed w10 thru usb in the SSD
-It worked, and thru the desktop i transferred files from my old HDD to the SSD
-tried to format the HDD thru my computer, did not work, got some error
-proceeded to format the hdd through w10 installation usb - worked
-changed the boot order so SSD load first
-got an error saying no OS is found
-plugged in w10 usb and did "repair my computer" - worked
-able to access desktop, play games, etc.
-decided to run sfc /scannow to be sure, and got that error
-did a disk cleanup and then ran sfc again, still the same

also i have attached the log that i got from the sfc

Perhaps not, even if you were to do a clean install at this point - see here: SFC some corrupt files can not be fixed

Normally, folks would advise that the next step is using DISM to repair this problem but, if you check the thread I linked above, you may decide you don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Question: Missing OpenCL.dll

Hi All,
So, I upgraded to Windows 10 a day back using the media creation tool, and the install went fine. After I restarted the PC for the first time, I got an error saying that OpenCL.dll is missing. I searched online forums and it said that it might be due a problem with your graphic drivers. So, I updated the driver with Device Manager, but it said that the driver is upto date. I still get the problem after every restart.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Answer:Missing OpenCL.dll

Could you look and let us know what driver version you are using please? (quick way to look- right click on your desktop, click nvidia control panel, then in the bottom left corner of the dialogue box that opens hit system properties)
In case you are unsure, the box looks like this:

Hello! I work and study in CAE/mathematical modeling field. Now I'm trying to use OpenCL on my laptop. According to all the utilities I've tried I have no OpenCL support, although I know that it should have, at least early versions. E.g. FurMark didn't even recognize my dicrete card. It simply stated that I only have the Intel HD Graphics.GPU Shark says the same.GPU-Z tells me that I have both, but no OpenCL support on either of the devices. At first I could't even start a simple example in OpenCL, because the "Getting started guides usually suggest to look for a cl.h header in your $(AMDAPPSDKROOT) folder". I have that environment variable set to an existing folder, but it contains no libs, headers or anything close to it.I've installed Intel SDK for OpenCL to check the available devices through OpenCL API. It says I can use only CPU. Hardware: AMD Ati Radeon HD 7670m; Intel HD Graphics 4000; Intel Core i5 CPU;BIOS info: InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.7; f.12;The device manager recognizes both devices correctly (from the first glance). According to it both devices' drivers are 8.982.10.6000 from AMD.I have been studying this problem for a couple of days already and found only two direct statements that it IS possible to use OpenCL on my Radeon card:https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html (Call me Mr. BrightSide, but I assume they should have tested it)andhttps://community.amd.com/thread/162244The reasons ... Does Alienware support the nvidia drivers? If not, what is the recommended way to install cuda/opencl + developer drivers so I can do opencl development in visual studio?

Hi guys.

I am hoping you can help me as i don't wish to do a full reinstall. Spoke to Microsoft who couldn't help. I have looked through the excellent tutorial posted on here with regards to SFC issues but i'm unsure if i am doing something incorrect as, the ISO i got from Microsoft website, has an install file with a .wmd extension.

I am on the following build:

When i run SFC i get corrupted files could not be repaired message:

I have saved the log of the above scan which i have attached. Please forgive me for the possibly dumb question but do i know download the 1511 iso? DISM is saying source files not found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the Tutorial steps don't seem to fix the problem unless its me which most likely is!

Apologies and thank you

OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend.

If you are interested at all in multi-core programming, this tool (Open Computing Language) could become the standard for years to come in "what may be the best solution so far to the general problem of parallel programming." It does both task-level and data-level parallelism (aka SIMD) and some parallel-programming languages can't do the latter.

Answer:OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend

Some of the parallel processing examples are best described as *way cool* (I don't drag out such language for the average stuff ).

Don't know what Nvidea's plan is with both CUDA and OpenCL support. As both do broadly the same thing why are they pushing their solution so hard? Anyone know any good tutorials for OpenCL (or CUDA for that matter, but there's more out there).

It'd be a shame to write two programs for two different machines.

A programming language: https://www.khronos.org/opencl/

OpenCL defines an application programming interface (API) that allows programs running on the host to launch kernels on the compute devices and manage device memory, which is (at least conceptually) separate from host memory. Programs in the OpenCL language are intended to be compiled at run-time, so that OpenCL-using applications are portable between implementations for various host devices.[12

Hi, I am interested to learn OpenCL on my Lenovo G470 (graphic = AMD Radeon HD 6370M), but still struggling to get it started (http://www.fixstars.com/en/opencl/book/OpenCLProgrammingBook/first-opencl-program.html). It is now able to compile & link the program, however it is not showing any output when executed. I would like to know whether Lenovo G470 support OpenCL? Anyone G470 users actually able to run opencl program? Thanks!

Answer:Does Lenovo G470 supports OpenCL???

Is there anyone who has experience on this???Help will be really appreciated. Thanks!

Nvidia Mulls Over Porting PhysX to OpenCL - X-bit labs

"Nvidia May Allow GPU PhysX to Work on ATI Hardware

Nvidia Corp. said that it could eventually port computing of physics effects created using PhysX middleware to OpenCL application programming interface (API) and capable hardware. This may actually enable acceleration of physics effects processing on graphics chips to work on ATI Radeon hardware.

At present PhysX middle-ware is used to make physics effects on various platforms, including video game consoles and personal computers. In virtually all the cases processing of physics effects is performed on the central processing units ? x86 chips in case of PC, Cell in case of PlayStation 3 or PowerPC in case of Xbox 360 ? however, there are handful of games that can take advantage of physics computing on Nvidia GeForce graphics processing units (GPUs) that support CUDA technology. The latter is virtually Nvidia?s proprietary API and is naturally not supported by chips developed by ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices. Due to such limitations not a lot of game developers are implementing GPU PhysX and enabling acceleration using DirectCompute or OpenCL is one of the best ways to popularize processing of physics effects on graphics processors.

?In the future it is a possibility that we could use OpenCL, but at the moment CUDA works great. [Our GPU] architecture allows for acceleration by other things like OpenCL. Nvidia works very closely wit... Read more

I made inf file for g210m on toshiba u500 for 195.81 beta driver.
Just download driver and add it to unpacked directory where are other infs and install.

Now you can use OpenCL, CUDA, DirectCompute, Physx (enable it in CP) and nVidia GPU Acceleration for Adobe Flash Player (install new 10.1 beta 2 flash player by adobe)

This inf is optimized for DEV_0A74&SUBSYS_FF401179 g210m.
If you want me to add more devices please post what devices you want and i will but you will have to test it.

Hope this helps.

Answer:Satellite U500 - INF file with OpenCL, CUDA for Nvidia driver

Thanks for that but usually it?s advisable to use the Toshiba graphic card driver due to the GPU overheating protection.
Other drivers don?t support such protection and the usage of such drivers can cause an higher temperature which could affect the GPU chip?.

I have Win 10 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 3460 with Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM and Crucial 1TB SSD. All Dell diagnostics pass, Windows fully updated.
About 2 weeks ago (April 2016), the Windows Update for Version 1511 finally arrived and it is now at Build 10586.218
A few days (2 or 3) before that, IE 11 and Edge started to misbehave. It's possible that some final pre-upgrade-to-1511 upgrade did this - it is equally possible just a co-incidence.
The symptoms are that IE11 will open up but the address bar does not get populated and after a few seconds, it just disappears again. Edge does similar. When this happens, I sometimes try Firefox but that takes a long time to start - at least it starts. Chrome usually starts within a short time. There is no sure way to get IE and Edge back again. Rebooting sometimes does it. Usuallly, I have to use Turn Windows Features on and off to turn IE 11 off then on again (which given a restart is needed both times is timeconsuming).

First timer with a big problem here.Just recently migrated all data on my laptop to a Seagate portable HDD whilst I flattened my laptop and reinstalled OS.Tried today to put backed up data back onto laptop and the HDD will not run up.I stripped it down and measured the voltage coming out of the ac adaptor and on the power cable going into the HDD. Both voltages were correct. As soon as I connect the HDD to the caddy it falls over and refuses to power up. I thought, maybe, the HDD was drawing too much current so I tried to install it into my desktop to prove this. I got exactly the same symptoms when in my desktop.I have now come to the conclusion that there is a problem with the HDD so I have 2 questions:1) From the signs and symptoms I have mentioned here does the HDD sound like it can be repaired?2) If not is there anyway I can retrieve the data from it?Cheers

Answer:Can my HDD be repaired?

In short my cat has decided that my laptop was his new bathroom and peed all over it.
I know the likely hood is that its killed pretty much everything, i'm just hoping that there is a way to fix be replacing parts such as motherboard to get it running again. Does anyone know if this is possible or am i looking at buying a new laptop all together ??

Any suggestions would be appreciated good or bad

Question: P4 pin Repaired

owdy there, this in my mind is long so just skip to the 2nd paragraph
Last week i was replacing a crummy processor fan which is my least favorite thing to do cause of previous p4 damage when the heatsink and processor sometimes stuck together . So to aviod that painfully stupid feeling of the hair dryer to a heatsink as well as the risk of bending pins like last time i worked my computer to the max for at least 16 hours so the cpu wouldn't stick to the heatsink and stay in the board. Of course this dint happen so when the fan/heatsink was removed the cpu stuck to it but it didnt cause any pins to bend but i wasnt clear yet..... i bumped the cpu on the corner of my Raedon!!

This time 1 single pin broke off the p4 processor none bent. the p4 came in a barebones system my now ex partner got so there was no warranty and i was unsure the only answer i could find besides just chuck it so i thought of my own hacker rigged way. I recovered the pin that fell off and with the help of tweezers and a q-tip i placed the pin into the slot on the motherboard where it would have been in if it was attached to the p4 placed the p4 on locked it down powered it up and now it perfectlly fine. Does anyone else see that as to easy or know a little more about this cause it has now been on straight for 24 hours no problems please email mail me or reply to this post at

Answer:P4 pin Repaired

First of all, Welcome to the 3DS forums. Second, watch your language, I wouldn't be making any off color comments about any gender here. This is not the place for it.

Second, I don't understand how you managed to break a pin off unless you didn't unlock the CPU from the socket. The HSF should not be stuck on the Fan that tight. When I take mine off, it usually just falls off.

If you haven't had any problems yet, count yourself lucky, I would be very weary of the CPU, any vibration may cause the pin to come unseated and you may damage more than just the CPU. Good luck.

Hi, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome ! If your computer came with Windows preinstalled by HP (a.k.a. OEM Windows), then it should have built-in recovery partitions. Since Windows seems to have issues, you can use them to perform recovery. Let's hope they are intact and they will work.Basically, what you need to do is to restart your computer and once you notice the HP logo keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap). Then, a new HP menu will open, press F11 to start the recovery options. Follow the instructions on-screen.More details and video can be found here >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBrBJ7sAqToor >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBrBJ7sAqTo&feature=youtu.be&t=110 If your computer did not come with Windows preinstalled by but you or someone else installed it later, then you will have to use the Windows installation media of your own to reinstall Windows. If you miss it, you can download it from  >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO  Additionally, you may want to test your machine for hardware issues using the UEFI diagnostics >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1  Please, provide feedback and let me know if this works for you.

I have a very strange problem on my pc and I have no idea what is going on. This is how it went:
I'm from Holland so I'm sorry for the wrong use of grammar etc.

1. Windows Mediaplayer suddenly couldn't play a lot of videos anymore.

2. In programs like Cubase 5, plugings were missing.

3. I installed VLC player. Video's worked again but since this moment the sound on my pc is gone.

4. I've already set the system back to date's like 15 March when everything was fine, but this doesn't help.

5. In fact, it made it worse. Now all the flash plugins in sites worked really bad. Watching a video on youtube is impossible.
I've already installed the latest flash and shockwave players but nothing helps.
Now I have no idea what to do, I would be very thankful if someone could help.

Hello,

I have win 7 installed on my laptop along Ubuntu desktop 10.10. My laptop fell from my bed (), but it wasn't really a hard bump - it fell sideways. Anyway, after the hit, I tried to boot Windows 7 (the boot loader, grub, etc. are fine), but since then it keeps going into this recovery stage (Windows in loading files...) and when I try to fix it, I get this error: "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically". Then it asks me to send information to microsoft, and downwards there are these 'signatures': StartupRepairOffline, AutoFailover, signature 06: 7, signature 07: CorruptAcl.
The question is if I can restore my main system files (delete them all and add them again or sth like that - just like in win xp case). Any other suggestions are welcomed
Thanks.

P.S. I've also tried system restore, but it didn't work at all - regardless of the system restore points I selected.

Answer:Win 7 cannot be repaired

Answer:Outlook.pst needs to be repaired

Hi urwethe

Are you receiving error messages concerning the .pst file?

Have you tried Scandisk.exe as this link shows?
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.asp

There is software you can purchase that claim they will repair a .pst file, I don't have any experience with a third party tool that repairs .pst files.

Make a copy of the .pst file before running the scans in case of undesirable/unexpected results.

So I've been working at this for about a week now, and you can read a summary of what's been going on here on CNet.

My installation DVD was at my sister's house for a while, so she had to send it by mail, and I just got it today. The guy in the CNet thread told me that there are other repair methods when you boot from the DVD, but I've been unable to find any. I've been considering a repair install, but the moment I hit the "Install Now" button, it says that "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." Given that I'm booting from the DVD, I don't see how it could possibly not recognize it.

I've read the Microsoft fix (kb929833) but the fix is greek to me - where do you get a "known good copy" of these files.

Is this a difficult fix? I really really want to avoid having to do a reinstall of Vista. My HP laptop isn't even 6 months old and Hp tells me the Vista reinstall is on the D partition of the pc.

HELP!!!!

Answer:How Can These Files Be Repaired (per SFC)

SFC /Scannow can repair Windows files. I would recommend a backup of your data before. I have seen SFC break stuff and cause your system not to restart properly. A clean install is a better option. Backup. Reboot. Hit F11 on most computers/laptops to do a factory reinstall. It wipes everything and lays down a clean copy.

Unfortunately, I do not know what updates were being performed on my system, I just let it do its magic overnight and the next day was greeted with an "Automatic Repair" screen. The update occurred on Dec 12 2016.

This is Win10 x64 Pro.

My background - I am a computer engineer and have worked at IBM and Dell in their PC and server development and service groups. I am good at isolating issues and debug. Looking for guidance on best paths to take so that I can bypass any dead ends I may go down as I try to resolve.

First issue (this is resolved, but I include it in the event others might search for these terms and this would come up):

I could not select the buttons "Restart" or "Advanced Options" on this screen. I had to plug in a PS/2 keyboard into my computer for this screen to work. Crazy. I remember buying this board a couple of years ago and wondering why they included a PS/2 port. Glad they did and that I had a PS/2 keyboard in my attic. Not a workaround for the common computer owner I realize, but if you are lucky enough to use a PS/2 keyboard, this is the solution. I tried my wireless USB and a wired USB keyboard. Both were functional in that I could get into my UEFI and boot select screens. They 'stopped' working at this automatic repair screen (although the wired USB keyboard still reacted to the caps lock and num lock events, thus indicating the interrupts were handled, and we are lacking a ... Answer:Update and now PC can not be repaired

Pauley said:

...assuming I have to go into a re-install route, this was from a Win7x64 Ultimate install, so I don't have a Win10 install disk. Do I install Win7 (reusing my product key) and then have it upgrade to Win10? I thought the win10 upgrade was a limited time offer. Or, is there a Win10 install disk that accepts Win7 product keys (doubtful)?

Win7 Ultimate would have been upgraded to Win10 Pro. On activation a Digital Licence was recorded on Microsoft's activation servers. If the original Win7 was an OEM version this licence is tied to the hardware of your PC. 'Hardware' doesn't include the hard drive, so you can change this for a new one without problems.

Windows 10 install media can be downloaded from Microsoft, either by using the Media Creation Tool or downloading an iso directly.
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...-download.html

Do a clean install of the same edition as your digital licence (Home or Pro). When asked for a key, skip this for now (click 'I don't have one'). When the system boots up it will check with the MS activation servers and activate automatically.

If your Win7 key is for a full retail version (not an OEM one) then it can be used to activate Windows 10, but you probably won't need to use this route.
Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First

A full licence can be linked to your Microsoft Account to make it easier to transfer from old to new hardware, should you need to replace the... Read more

Hello, I'm CrazyKilla

I'm wondering if theres a place i could ship it to or shops that repair hardware, i basically have a really expensive motherboard (bought for ?400) and the pins that connect to the processor are bent, this renders the board useless and i don't like the board itself, i feel dumb for buying it and want to get it fixed and then later i could sell it, could someone recommend a shop or website which could lead me to getting the board repaired, or are the pins way too small to repair, the socket is LGA2011 if you need to know.

And why the hell do they make expensive hardware so easy to break?

Answer:In the UK where can i get my motherboard repaired?

You can bend them back yourself actually. You just have to be careful and gentle. That way, you won't have to spend any money having some repair shop do it.

Hi, I have a big problem. I have (had) a dual boot with win8.1 and win7 and I was using EasyBCD to edit the boot order. Now, when I try to reboot, I get the above error and a blue screen. I have a bootable USB recovery medium for win 8 but the problem is that I can't boot to it and fix the problem because I can't access the boot menu in my BIOS. The usual F12 option to select the boot device isn't showing up no matter what I do. I read that it has something to do with win8's hybrid shutdown system. Please help!

I have no idea if this is the right place for my question, but here goes. My son--a 20 year old intelligence specialist in the Navy--having more money than common sense, bought an ipod and promptly dropped and broke it. We sent it to Apple for him, but they sent it back, saying that the warranty didn't cover the damage to it. Declining to pursue it any further, he simply bought another. The result is that we now have a nearly new ipod that doesn't work and I need to find a reliable online repair service (other than Apple) that will diagnose the problem. Can anybody steer me in the right direction?

Hey guys, new to this so bare with me

My stupid alienware is being stupid, and blue screening me, saying "the boot configuration data file is missing some required information". Error code : 0xc0000034. This has only started happeneing since I got windows 10, and I can't go back to wondows 8. I tried googling it and all that to try and fix it, I've tried troubleshooting, I tried restoring to a previous point, but apparently there is no previous point, I've tried doing some stuff with the command prompt that I was told to, and 0 errors were found. And I tried start-up repair and it fails and says "start-up repair could not repair your PC" I've got the usb windows 10 I got from jb hi fi. I've had just wipe the drive and reinstall windows again. But after 1 or 2 days it force shut downs and comes up with the same error again. Please help Im sick of this, and as you know alienware is hugely expensive to just buy a new one.

Thanks!

Just within the week I decided to reinstall Windows 7 as a 64 bit version from the 32 bit version I was running. I did a completely clean slate and was running windows updates one after the other. I kept getting an error message when it came to installing IE 11.

I tried launching IE (which is at version 9) and it wouldn't launch at all until I ran the scripts from this website: http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=artikel&cat=42&id=133&artlang=en

Now I can launch IE 9 but it looks like this:
http://imgur.com/7vT4cP8

Things I've tried:
Installing IE 11 from Windows Update and directly from an exe file: both failed, WU gives me the error code 9C59

The scripts posted from the iefaq.info website

Uninstalling IE 9 from the programs/features windows updates menu (and in safe mode): fail

Uninstalling IE 9 using the fixit and cmd options from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2579295: the Fixit said "does not apply to operating system or application version" and the cmd option gave a bunch of errors.

System restore only goes back 2 days. I tried it as far back as it went, but it didn't help.

What can I do?!

Would you advice that I get it repiared or should I buy him a new one?
Thanks in advance for your response.

I suspect getting it repaired would be the more expensive option so my advice is get a new one. Although you could check how much it would cost but having a quick Google at the low(ish) price of a new one that is option I would take

Hi,
My XP Home edition recently got corrupted so that it was hanging at the start of every attempt to boot into it.After everything else failed I tried a repair via the recovery console. THis involved the computer going through the 40 minute XP system setup again but it worked OK. The only problem  was that I was now back in Service Pack 2.
So I tried to install SP3, which worked but when I rebooted I was back with ech  boot attempt hanging at what seems like exactly the same time as before..
My guess is that a component or driver is corrupt  but that component is only used by SP3.

Can anyone suggest what to do?

Hi guys,I have a Y500 with 1TB HDD. I added a mSATA SSD 256GB to get all the programs and the OS onto it. Therefor I used HDclone. After the procedure it needed to reboot the laptop. So far so good. But now it just won't boot. The lenovo logo appears with the windows circle which turns without ending. So I decided to reset the PC to factory settings using the Windows 8 DVD and an external DVD drive. While starting, I enter the BIOS and told him to boot from the DVD. After that Win8 asks for the language I want, the next window shows "Now Install".After pressing this icon, it says that the setup is loading, and again: without ending. Also the external DVD drive stops working. Now I'm really desperate, because I need the laptop and don't know what to do. I also tried it with only the SSD or only the HDD (I have removed them from the laptop), successless. When I try starting Win8 from the origin HDD (via the BIOS), it says that it needs to be repaired. So what to do? Shall I try an other DVD drive? But that can't be the reason for not working, right?Do you have any ideas? Please help me!! Thanks!Max

Answer:Lenovo needs to be repaired? Help please!

hi max713,

Can you try to:
1. Remove the stock 1TB HDD and plug-in the mSATA SSD
2. Turn the computer ON, boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 and set the following:

Boot Tab:
UEFI / UEFI Boot = Disabled

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled (if applicable)

Exit Tab:
OS Optimized Default = Disabled  (if applicable)

3. Under the Boot Tab, ensure that the mSATA is set as first boot and press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
4. Boot from the Windows 8 DVD and on the Windows 8 Setup screen, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt.
5. On the  command prompt, type:
    - diskpart
    - sel disk 0 (where disk 0 is your mSAYA SSD)
    - clean (this will wipe all partitions and reinitialize the drive)
    - exit
6. Close the command prompt and try to install Windows on the SSD.

Let me know your findings

Ok I'm in quite a bind here. I am currently in Japan at the moment and during the flight over here my laptop was damaged badly. The screen was crushed and the liquid crystal has leaked out. I think the mobo may be damaged too. Problem is my Japanese is not good enough to deal with Japanese telephone support so my questions are this. 1) I have the 3 year warranty on it but I bought it in the US. Will that work in Japan just well? (Its still under warranty, still brand new really). 2) Is there any place on Lenovo website where I can lookup a repair center to drop it off at for repairs? I'm in Osaka at the moment so there should be a repair place SOMEWHERE around here. But Japans webpage only seems to point to "Call to findout". Any help would be great! Thanks!

I have a games disc that has a small crack in it... does anybody know of how it can be repaired so that it can be read again? It is split at the centre hole towards the disc edge, across the silver bit! It measures about 1 inch in length. Can you help with a remedy? I am willing to try anything... other than pay $$$ for a new disc! Thanks

Answer:Cracked disc! Can it be repaired?

You could try to copy it from the cracked CD to a new one. It's possible there is nothing actually recorded where the crack is. BUT - you run the risk of the cracked one flying apart in the drive and damaging it.Otherwise this is nothing you can do. Do not attept gluing it - it will be unbalanced in the drive, and possibly damage the drive.

Please help! I tried to recover to manufacturer settings.

Now I get:
Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.

File:\Windows\system32\config\system
Error code: 0xc0000225

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press Enter to try again (This option returns to the same screen)
Press F8 for Startup Settings (I am unable to start in safe mode - Nothing in this option does anything)
Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings (Passed diagnostic test for Hard Drive and Memory - System Recovery takes me back to the BSOD)
My system information is as follows:
Notebook Model: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
Product Number B5Z52UA#ABA
Serial Number: 5cd24664KN
Born on Date: 02/07/2013
System Board ID: 184B

Processor Speed: 1900 MHz

I am unable to post debugging or anything as I cannot get past this screen.

error code: 0xc000000f

1) My windows 8 imploded on me, it went from an automatic repair loop to constantly asking for repair and restarting itself. Sadly, none of the tools they provide have any effect, and this laptop is only a few weeks old. I booted ubuntu to try to get a file (literally one note document that I forgot to backup, and my exams are in a few days! Great timing ^ ^), the problem is I can only see some of the files under "Windows 8 OS", I already have hidden items being shown, and tried CTRL+H. Other posts have said to CTRL+L host or /media/user, but neither of these work.

I am using Ubuntu through the usb for now, after following this tutorial http://lifehacker.com/5504531/the-co...-a-thumb-drive - I have version 12.10 ubuntu

2) After getting my file back, I am going to "reset" (which should wipe all data and reboot windows 8) windows 8, hopefully that will actually do something. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can fix windows 8 from Ubuntu or any way you can think of, please share!

Some of the things I already tried: a) Refresh (with a Win 8 DVD inside, all of the following were performed with a win 8 DVD inside); b) Commandprompt lots of commands, bcdboot commands; c) system restore; d) boot in safe mode; e) boot in legacy mode; f) automatic repair

I have not tried any of the methods that would wipe memory (not like I know how to either), I am trying to get my files back, and I am cramming with pen and paper > ... Read more

Answer:recovery environment your pc needs to be repaired (win 8)

NTSTATUS 0xC000000F is STATUS_NO_SUCH_FILE
It means that the system couldn't find a file by that name.
Could be that the file doesn't exist (was erased), that the path to the file is incorrect, or that the drive has been erased or is broken

It's seems to me that you've done all the necessary steps to copy the file(s) - so you should have been able to get them.
If that's the case, then it's likely that the files are destroyed/missing/overwritten.

STOP messing with the disk if the files MUST be recovered! Any operations (to include booting up) can make recovery of the files much more difficult/expensive - or even make them unrecoverable.

The first step is to decide how desperate you are to recovery these files.
Here are some recovery utilities - they are Windows based, so you'd have to use a Windows based boot disk to access the hard drive (read the documentation with each program to see how they work from a Windows based boot disk.
There are free recovery utilities (such as PC Inspector - kostenlose Software fr die Datenrettung von CONVAR - Die Datenretter. ) - a very good utility, but very difficult to use
There are pay for utilities (I like GetDataBack from Data Recovery - Data Recovery Software - RAID Recovery - NAS Data Recovery). It'll tell you what files that it can recover - but you'll have to pay $80 US in order to recovery them.

If you still can't recover the data, consider using a professional data recovery service (I can't recommend one as I haven't used any ... Read more

Can't find any info re repair of Windows 8.1 Refresh on operating system that was downloaded from
the Apps site.
Would appreciate any leads if I've missed it.
Thanks.

Answer:Windows 8.1 refresh repaired?

Hello Jmcsherr, and welcome to Eight Forums.

When you update from 8 to 8.1 from the Store and do a refresh, it will refresh to 8.

If you like, you could create a custom refresh image in 8.1. When you do a refresh afterwards, it will refresh Windows back to how it was when the image was created.

Refresh Windows 8 - Create and Use Custom Recovery Image

Hope this helps,
Shawn
