Send/Receive mail from email client (Lotus Notes) to Verizon mail servers

Question: Send/Receive mail from email client (Lotus Notes) to Verizon mail servers

Hi, I am trying to get Lotus Notes 9 social edition to connect to my Verizon ISP mail servers (pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net).
The replication tab gives an error message: "SSL IO error Remote session no longer responding.Failed with pop server pop.verizon.net".
I did a trace using preferences->Notes ports and it tells me there is no path to the server. I configured my Windows firewall to allow
notes to access the internet. I still can't "see" the mail servers (a Windows command line "ping" times out for either server). I have the correct server names and ports in the "accounts" entries in Lotus Notes (checked several
times). These servers require SSL access. Is there something in the networking part of Windows that I need to set up? An SSL certificate of some kind? Do I need to set up and use a VPN? What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

Preferred Solution: Send/Receive mail from email client (Lotus Notes) to Verizon mail servers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Just wondering if someone could tell me how lotus notes works in regards to emails.

I've got a home printer-scanner-fax unit (MFD) that can scan to email addresses. However, i'm running lotus notes for email and the MFD can only scan back to email addresses via a SMTP server.

I've noticed that Lotus notes does not have a SMTP server however it must somehow connect to a mail server of some sort to get emails.

Can somebody please help. thanks in advance.

I can read the e-mails, but when trying to send a new e-mail or to forward a e-mail, I can put in the e-mail address but as soon as I click into the body of the letter it freezes right there. Nothing will work and you have to close out of Lotus Notes and a massage comes up that Lotus is not responding. So I end the task and Lotus closes. This is on Win 2000. I've tried reinstalling and it will work and you can send e-mails but when you closes out of Lotus and go back in it locks up when trying to send or forward a e-mail again.

I just got a new computer at work. On my old computer, which has the same operating system and software I am currently using, I was able to send a workbook directly from MS Excel into Lotus Notes. I have Office 2003 and Lotus Notes 8.5. My LAN admin is at a loss on how to get this to work. I added the Mail Recipient (with Attachment) from the customized command menu but it is greyed out - PLEASE HELP

I know this works, it did before but no can here can figure out how to make it work again.

I can get the 'Send for Review' function to work so why don't they both work?

Answer:Cannot send or receive mail with any client

Hi Ddink, welcome to the forum.

First it would be a good idea to enter your system specs in user CP (control Panel).

Then you can tell us how you configured your mail client. I'm sure that you will then get more appropriate help.

Upgraded laptop to XP SP2 and now I cannot send email from my companies 2003 Exchange Web Mail server. I have turned set the web site URL to be open for pop-up blocking and I've even turned off pop-blocking in IE6SP2, but I still cannot send email. I checked MS KB but their tips didn't work (pop-up blocking).

Do I need to install WebMail client (either Premium or Basic) on my laptop? I can still send email from another laptop running W2KPro and it doesn't have WebMail Client installed.

Answer:Cannot send email from web mail server on XP Client

So you use the Outlook Web Access to send email. And you cannot send. Can you receive email? This could be caused by a number of things. Do you have a firewall application installed or is Windows Firewall running? Have you run Windows Update and install latest updates and patches? Try this first, there may be a known issue that has been resolved with an update that was released after or due to an issue with SP2.
Have you cleared your Cookies and Intenet Temp Files? To do so Open Internet Explorer-->Tools-->Internet Options and click Delete Cookies and Delete Files. This will clear all the saved settings for all websites you accessed including cached copies. Also, you may want to delete the history, but before doing so, add frequently accessed sites to Bookmarks or Favorites. Then click Apply and OK and then try.
Also try different IE security settings to see if that helps, with the application of SP2 a lot of new security settings were incorporated into both the OS and IE and some of the default settings were very restrictive.
Try these, and if no success, we can try some other things.

Hi.

I have attach the sheet

Need your help on auto sending of email from the excel via Lotus note.
I have my data in excel which has Email ID to whom I need to send an Email. with subject in one column and Body of the message in one column.

I need to send email every day as per today date, by refering the cell B1 which has (Date) Today ().
Then accordingly I need to go to the Col "E" which has the Email Date as heading, I need to sort todays date from the Email Date, and send email accordingly to the respectively persons in that row( I have mentioned only email Id of the persons in Col "C" & "D").

Now what I want is,it should sort the date for the Email Date by refering the cell B1 (means according Today() date in B1).
I have created 2 Buttons one in the Cell C1 & the other in Cell D1 What I want is when I click on Button "First Name Contact" it should send auto email to that respective person email id in that column/row along with the subject and body of message which is in column F & G.
And when I click the other button "Both Contact Name from column E & F" it should send auto email to both persons email id in column/row C & D along with the subject and body of message which is in column F & G.
I have Lotus notes installed on my system and I'm using excel 2003 version.
I would appreciate if you could help me on this as I'm not familier to coding.

I use Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and Incredimail. I was receiving mail on all perfectly well this morning, when suddenly (after installing the latest Zone Alarm), I cannot receive incoming e-mail. I get the following error in MS Outlook:

"The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. (Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', POP3 server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Error number: 0x800ccc0f"

I spoke with a Verizon tech person. She checked my accounts settings, and all seemed in order. She concluded that it was a Microsoft problem, and not a Verizon problem, since the connectivity was fine.

I checked my Microsoft Services, and all mail-related services seemed to be on, none turned off.

I tried closing Zone Alarm. Still the problem. I configured ZA so that the mail servers were all accepted and trusted. It is not a firewall problem, it would seem. THOUGH...the difficulty did start after I installed the update for the firewall.

I have rebooted, etc. and cannot get the mail to come down into the computer. I can read my mail on the Verizon server online, but my PC blocks delivery to mail PC.

Please, can anyone help me?

Question: Lotus Notes mail

After the weekend, the unread mails will be marked as read ones.

What could be the cause of this problem?

Answer:Lotus Notes mail

Do you have Lotus Organizer running along with Notes? Organizer affects read/unread marks. Basically if Organizer hasnt opened the doc it sees the file as unread when organizer closes, it then remarks the doc as unread. A last out wins scenario.

In most cases, when an unread mark discrepancy occurs, closing the database and reopening it corrects the problem (by synchronizing the unread marks). In some cases, simply refreshing the screen (pressing F9 or clicking the Refresh indicator in upper left corner of view) synchronizes the unread marks. However, in a few cases, neither refreshing or closing the database synchronizes the unread marks.

Currently, there is no way to prevent these intermittent unread mark discrepancies. You can, however, minimize the likelihood of unread mark issues by closing databases and mail files that are not currently in use (in other words, avoid leaving the databases open all day).

Lotus has acknowledged the problem of read and unread marks in previous versions of notes 4.5 through 4.6. They seem to be somewhat resolved in Notes 5.

Hope that this sheds some light on your problem.

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with the send to email feature in Office 2007.

We have office 2007 with Lotus Notes 8.5.1 FP3 as our email client. When we click on the send to email function in office we get the error;

** Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client **

When I press okay and try it again, I get another message

**General Mail Failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system and try again.**

The thing is, I have this feature working on other PC's with Lotus Notes (same version) installed.
I've verified that Lotus Notes is the default Mail Client through the IE default programs settings. As well as internally through Lotus Notes preferences.

I've also checked the option in Lotus Notes to ** Enable MS Office 97 SendTo Notes **

I'm at a bit of a loss. Problem is when I call IBM they blame it on MS... and vice versa.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also don't suggest to use Outlook... believe me it's not my decision... I would love to kick our domino servers out the window and move to exchange

Hello all. This is driving me mad. Hope someone can help!

Running Windows XP SP2
Home network w/ DI-524 router ethernet to desktop, wireless laptop, cable internet connection. Everything was fine... :)
Then suddenly one day three weeks ago we can no longer send mail. Receives fine, but sent just piles up in outbox. On both computers.

My wife uses Outlook Express which generates this error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.3web.com', Server: 'smtp.3web.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I use Opera, which generates a similar, but more generic error. Thunderbird fails similarly.

I can't telnet to smtp.3web.com from inside my network, but I can from an external unix shell account. 3web swears there is no problem on their end, although their teir 2 support have yet to call me back.

I was running Zonealarm, which I have since uninstalled. I now am using just the XP native firewall (and my router). Have tried turning off the windows firewall AND bypassing the router (just for long enough to see if it worked) (It didn't).

Updated to the most recent firmware for the router. No change.
Reset the router to factory defaults. No change.

When I ran Wireshark to check out the network traffic when I tried to send via smtp, it would show 3 attempts with no ACK and then a RST from the smtp server - but doesn't this mean I'm *reaching* the server, I'm just not being allowed i... Read more

I have an application that creates e-mails and sends them to customers. A customer that is using Lotus Notes gets an e-mail containing winmail.dat , which they can't read. Searching the web, I find that this depends on that the program is sending in the rtf format.

In the program, there is a line that reads:
Set LN_rtItem = LN_MailDoc.CreateRichTextItem("Body")
(Both LN_rtItem and LN_MailDoc are dimensioned "As Object".)

I guess the solution would be sending the mail as unformatted text or as HTML (the mail contains a short description and an attached pdf file). What would I need to put instead of "CreateRichTextItem"?

Best regards, MickeP!

My employer is changing our E-Mail platform from Lotus Notes 6.5 to Microsoft Outlook most likely the first of the year.

I was wondering if anyone else changed E-Mail platforms and what do you think? Likes or Dislikes...

Answer:Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook E-Mail platform

My employer still uses Lotus Notes, but I prefer the Outlook/OE format. It has always been easier for me to accomplish any task using a format that is more user friendly, in my opinion. I have a company email account, although all that I ever do on it is read mail and most of my email concerning the job is sent through my own ISP using OE. Perhaps I have paranoia about being dismissed for inappropiate computer usage at work! Only my opinion, and I'm sure that others will express theirs!

When I click on send/receive message, It shows a quick connection window and immediately a disconnecting message.
To try to fix this I downloaded the Windows Live mail program, which had the same problem.
I did try a repair of Windows Live via the ad/remove in the control panel.
Then I downloaded the Thunderbird e-mail program from Firefox and in that program all works correctly.
Next I contacted the internet provider, but all they told me how to set up the
e-mail program.
I can also retrieve my e-mail from the internet provider, but their e-mail program has less features then the others.

I have searched the net and forums for a solution, but there were no clear parallels to my problem.

New HP computer ( Japanese operating system ) . My Japanese wife setup the email . We discovered yesterday that she goofed when she entered the server address for outgoing mail , so I can only receive mails . Can't figure out how to correct this problem . It's Sat. here in Japan so no support available today from MS . Anybody know how I can go about correcting the trouble ?

Answer:Can receive but cannot send mail via LIVE MAIL

who is your host? should be the name after the @ symbol in your email address (*@hostaddress.com)

I know that with GMail it's smtp.google.com and it requires encryption...

either encryption has been turned off, the outgoing server address is wrong, it's set to the wrong port, or something else. It's hard to tell, but I can try to locate the info.
I did a quick search and the first hit said that yahoo! mail is most popular in japan, so I found the instructions for it
hit "f10" on your keyboard to enable the toolbar, then click on "Accounts" in "tools..."
double-click on your account
in the "servers" tab (2nd), make sure that the "my server requires authentication" (bottom) is checked
Outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp unless it it Yahoo! BB account: ybbsmtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp
click on "advanced" (last tab) and make sure this is correct:
outgoing mail (smtp): 587.
check "this server requires authentication"

I have read many of the other forum threads hoping to solve this issue... to no avail.

I have been running Windows Mail on my laptop for seven months now with no issue. After changing my password, Windows Mail no longer wants to send or receive email.

I have tried many things (from other people's successes) to solve this problem:
- Changed my password again (note: both password changes have been successful in my webmail and in downloading to my Blackberry)
- Removed the email account and readded it
- Disabled the auto scan components of McAfee
- Uninstalled McAfee
- Repeated earlier deletions and additions of my email account
- Downloaded Windows Live Mail to the same errors and repeat of the above
- Reset my password/account through the email host/server

Here is the error message from Windows Live Mail:
Unable to send or receive messages for the (christine) account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Sure that they are identical?

I have a Dell GX-240 desktop computer running Windows XP, Office 2003, and Symantec Antivirus and Client Firewall. I am using Verizon DSL for my ISP. I have set Outlook to read my e-mail. I can receive mail without any problems. However, during the account setup, when I click 'Test Account Settings', the send a test e-mail task always fails with a message telling me to check the e-mail address. All other tasks are successful, including finding the incoming and outgoing mail servers. I have the system set up exactly (or as far as I can tell exactly) like my laptop that works fine. I have tested with 2 accounts (mine and my wife) but neither works. I have disabled Antivirus and Firewall, but the problem persists.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Cannot send Verizon e-mail

Hi palmga

Have you been able to correct this problem, yet?
Can you login to the mail server?

As described two threads below, yesterday I installed WIN10 "november major upgrade". Since then, I am unable to
send mail from *** any mail client *** on the box. Tried Outlook, Tried LIVE mail, Tried couple of programs
that have "send-mail" feature. Every time i used the same settings for outgoing e-mail server.
These setings work as verified by sending mail when using the same settins from different PC (win XP) on the same LAN.
In Outlook and LIVE mail the error reads as "Error 452.4.1.0 Policy violation . Your host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx has no valid reverse DNS. Pleas contact .... blabla". In the apps that have "send mail" feature the error was native "Connection closed gracefully".
I tried to disable Win10 firewall - no avail. I tried to disable my antivirus - no avail. I really need this to be solved :-(

Answer:After "November major upgrade" I cannot send mail from any mail client

Well, it seems that I am moving forward... I identified the cause. My PC has two Ethernet cards, each connected to different subnet (first 192.168.1.xxx and the second 192.168.192.xxxx). The second subnet is used for my company and internet communication while, the first one is just for reaching the neigbooring company local net. I have fixed IP address on both subnets. In order to avoid internet connection on first subnet, I have set metric 999 on IPV 4 protocol on the corresponding card and neighbooring company forbid my fixed IP address (on the first subnet) in the router. Now the upgrade has, *** god only knows why ***, completely screwed the settings on the first subnet card and has enabled the DHCP feature on the first subnet. So - when I launched the mail client, it used the wrong subnet, thus wrong WAN (that is operated by different ISP), thus it was rejected by the smtp mail server. Question to Microsoft: WHY DID THE UPGRADE CHANGED THE CARD SETTINGS? I disabled the first ethernet card and mail client works. I shall restore the original settings, get rid of doubled listing of the first card in the "active subnets list" (probably caused by me giving the subnet non-default name, and the upgrade assigned the default name to some other piece of data so the same subnet is now listed twice), and all will be as it was before upgrade. I spent 6 hours on this and Microsoft ows me 100 biers.

I have MS Outlook, outlook.com (both desktop and mobil), and live mail. All stopped receiving emails about three weeks ago. I can still send, but not receive. Programs seem to work fine, but won't receive. I have uninstalled outlook.com and reinstalled, but still won't receive. The passwords on all of them are consistent. They all are my MS password, which seems fine and can take me to other MS products (skydrive, etc.) but receiving emails does not work. Any suggestions?

But now, while I can get on the internet and receive email in both Outlook and outlook express at work, I cannot send email - at all.

Yet, when I get home, bot OE and OL work perfectly. Spent 30 minuted with the Comcast tech, could send and receive email from the web, so he insists the problem is not theirs.

Hello,

I'm working on a job at a pediatrics center, they have a local domain running on Server 2003, and they recently were unable to receive e-mails being sent from external sources, but could send to them just fine, also, sending/receiving to each other internally works.

The first thing I did when I showed up there is run a DNS report (using http://www.dnscolos.com/) on their public domain (PEDSRUS.ORG) and there were 2 areas where the MX Record Failed:

Connect to mailserver smtp.secureserver.net FAILED (could be greylisting)
Connect to mailserver mailstore1.secureserver.net FAILED (could be greylisting)
550 sorry, mail to that recipient is not accepted (#5.7.1)

AND

The server should have an A record which points to the mailserver for the hostname
which is presented in the greeting

smtp.secureserver.net
220 pre-smtp20-02.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net ESMTP
mailstore1.secureserver.net
220 pre-smtp17-02.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net ESMTP

They purchased this domain from GoDaddy.com and I've been tinkering with the DNS and MX Records in there, but can't seem to find a resolution for this.

Any sort of leg up would be extremely appreciated!

Thanks

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected] '. Subject '', Account: 'Lists', Server: 'smtp.q.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

And, my server requires authentication, is checked. I've also tried turning off my virus protection and sending. No luck. Should mention, not just my machine, but another machine in the house as well. Problems sending from all accounts (ie, juno, q and hscseminars.org)

Answer:Can receive, but not send mail

Hello mpsmom, welcome to the forum.

You can check several things to help resolve being able to receive but not send e-mail messages.

1. Outgoing SMTP server requires authentication: Just check that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box is selected in your email account.

2. Outgoing SMTP server requires Secure Password Authentication (SPA): verify that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is selected.

I think, these link may help you to resolve your problem.

Why can I receive email, but not send any?

Cannot Send Email

Thanks.

Anyone out there have any idea's??

Answer:Can receive mail but Can't Send it!

In incredimail, click tools/ accounts. Then click the properties button, and then the servers tab.

Are the outgoing server settings and the incoming server settings the same as what your ISP says they should be.

Are the authorization options on the bottom checked.

Answer:Not able to receive of send mail

How on earth are you using Outlook Express on Windows 7. I use Outlook Express 6.0 on my WinXP and it works great but they don't do Outlook Express for Vista/Win7/Win8.

I tried copying the folder over and registering the dll's but when run its says something like Outlook Express is not made for this operating system.

I do have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (I know its old but I hate the newer Office with stupid pictures) on my laptop and that works. I really wish Outlook Express was available.

They recommend Windows Live for emails.

The strange thing is I also have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 on WinXP but I don't use it. I only use it to import emails and contacts then save them as pst files then copy these over to my laptop.

I have used OUTLOOK ver 9.0.0.2711 with ease for many months sending and receiving my ISP based mail and yahoo accounts through my router. Slightly off topic yet by way of explanation I could not update certain progs like Norton updates so I manually disconnected the router and set up my old broadband modem and the updates worked. I also updated windows and as I was without router ( hardware firewall ) I updated Zone Alarm also. I then noted I could only send email, not receive though I could see the download staus bar start to slide from left to right prior to the error messages in all the accounts. My first reaction was to disable Norton but that did not cure matters.

I decided to trace back my steps and reverted to my router and to my dismay I cannot now download mail that way any more :-( Obviously I checked all the mail settings in Outlook despite having NOT touched them, all seems ok. I also tried system restore but I could not roll back to the point I wanted. I am now at a loss as what to do, can someone help please?

Answer:Can send but not receive mail :-(

If you updated ZA to version 6.0 and did not uninstall your current version first, then you may have a corrupt ZA database causing the problems. I'd suggest a reset. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
4.Reboot into the normal mode.

My own fault really. I thought it would be a good idea (not) to get a domain name. I thought it might give me a project and even have a web page. As a first step I thought I would get my email going since my domain name is surname>.eu But on setting up, following and rechecking the domain host instructions I could only receive e-mail. On testing, the error message (Outlook 2003 through XP sp2) said that the SMTP server could not be found and logged onto, it could be the server name it may require authentication or it may not support SSL.The settings in "more settings" are as required Ie outgoing server requires authentication (as per instructions) and SSL box unchecked.I tried using the old SMTP server and that worked with the new address but then did not work when I set the new address to default. Any help gratfully received.

Answer:Can Receive Mail But Not Send

OK, this is a bit weird, but apparently the solution is to delete the existing account, and then put it back in from scratch. I don't know why that fixes it, adding a duplicate of the original and disabling the original did not fix it. It still seems very strange that (now up to 4) computers decided overnight to have this problem.

Anyway, this issue is resolved now, at least until those computers magically stop working again (if that happens I know it means trouble).

Answer:Windows Mail - can receive but can't send

Hi, this little Util (WMUTIL) is a life saver for Windows mail.

Quote:

In some circumstances, messages will become stuck in the Outbox folder according to WinMail (even though no message may exist in the outbox directory of eml files). These stuck messages prevent WinMail from being able to send any messages. Clicking on the Clear Outbox button will remove all references in the database to Outbox messages. This should then enable the user to send messages again.

Two Win 7 computers (desktop & laptop), side by side, both with Outlook 2010, both with the exact same settings in Outlook, both plugged into the same router. Both receive mail perfectly. One sends without any problem, but the other has never sent successfully and always gets "Error 421." (And actually, there is a 3rd computer, another laptop, connected wirelessly to the router with the exact same 421 problem.) A quick try with Thunderbird on the one with the send problem had the same problem - receive but not send,

I have seen 421s when the ISP and smtp server were different but this is all with the same ISP. Given that one box CAN send, and the failure with Thunderbird as well, I am guessing it is some setting in Win7 but have no idea what or where. Suggestions???

Answer:Cannot send mail Error 421 (but receive is okay)

With many Outlook problems the best solution is to delete the mail account and recreate it. It's likely the mail account got corrupted and even though it shows the correct settings it's still won't work properly.

I can receive emails on wireless networks, but cannot send emails from either my home wireless or the wireless at work. They go fine when I am actually plugged into the network at the office. I have not tried at any other wireless locations. But I need to work from home as well adn this is pretty important. Thank y ou.

Answer:Can receive but not send e-mail wirelessly

There are stacks of email clients so we can't help properly unless we know which one you are using. It sounds like an incorrect setting.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

This was an intermittent problem but today seems to be permanent: I'm on Vista home premium, using Windows mail. I have a broadband connection. When I click Send/Receive the incoming mails arrive but I see a window headed "Windows Security" that asks me to Logon to my server (pipex) saying "please verify that both the username and password are correct". The "remember my credentials" box is already checked and however many tiems I enter my user name and password this window re-appears.
Webmail works fine for both send and receive.
I've had this problem ever since I got the new PC with Vista installed, (3 months ago) but until today it occurred only now and again and eventually I was always able to Send.
Also installed is FreeAVG antivirus and MSGTAG. The latter requires that my SMTP outgoing is set at 127.0.0.1

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find anything. When I first open Windows mail it will send & receive once. After that I get a error:

Some errors occured while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details. But here is nothing is there.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Also what are some good Windows mail back up & restore programs.
For outlook express I used ABF Outlook Express Backup it was great worked every time. It would backup messages, contacts, rules, accounts, passwords for the email accounts, IE favorites etc. I can not seem to find a all in one program like that fow Windows Mail.
Thanks everyone

Michael

I have just got bt-broadband and installed a router to serve all my home pc's. I have a business email for which I have been told I can receive and send my mail using the bt broadband connection. I have managed to install it so i receive but can't send any mail. Any suggestions on what needs to be done to send my business e-mail over the broarband connection? Thanks

Answer:Send and receive mail over bt-broadband

this is a hardwired LAN ?surely all you set up was the mail accounts for the business address ( is that a different ISP )you can set the outgoing mail to be sent via the new mail server address, as you now have a different address to the business, so set the smtp on the business to the new address and leave the pop as the original settings.last not least does every pc connect to the router via an IP address and have you set all the PCs to connect to that address with outlook via the LAN, as unless you re-configured the email settings to LAN

Help! I able to receive mail through my outlook mail account but am unable to send. Is there anything i can do (change settings etc)to easily remidy this problem? any advice would be gratefully received.

Answer:Outlook - able to receive but cannot send mail

So, what are the symptoms? Have you got email in our Outbox which doesn't go when you click on the Send/Receive pushbutton? If so, you've probably got the Send/Receive pushbutton configured to receive only.

About a month ago I had a problem with MSN Explorer 8. When I clicked on the "Mail" button, it would show me an error message (0x80072f78) and tell me that it was unable to connect to send or receive any emails. After about 5 chats with MSN tech support (during which I did everything from reset the accounts on my computer to completely uninstalling MSN Explorer and its registry files) I was told to wait 24-48 hours for a phone call from one of their top tech guys. The call never came, but two days later it started working again.

Now, the same problem has come back. I'm now running MSN Explorer 9 (since they made the upgrade available). Everything has been fine, up until this morning when it started to give me the error again. Talked with MSN support on the phone... they tried doing some things, none worked. They suggested I call my ISP (Telus) and ask if any ports were recently blocked. Telus said nothing has been changed.

Everything else I try on the net works great, including if I just go directly to hotmail.com to see my emails. I've installed no new programs, or made any changes before this happened. I'm running WinXP.

Help! I accidentally deleted my user then recreated it (keeping my documents). Now my email is messed up. I can receive email but not send it. It can connect to my incoming mail server, but not the outgoing mail server. It has the error of: Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to you outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator of Internet service provider (ISP).'
I own the website after the @ sign and set it (my email account) up myself.

Email Client: Outlook 2007

P.S. If you have IX Webhosting please reply with how to do it on the IX Webhosting Control Panel (manage.ixwebhosting.com)
P.P.S. Don't click the link at the e-mail address. It's a mailto.
P.P.S. I have an administrator account but after the recreation of my account some of my "user rights" have been changed. I can't click image links in Outlook.

Hello. I have a question.

How does one send a text message or e-mail *FROM* a Verizon cell phone or smartphone *TO* a PC's e-mail server (such as G-Mail or Hotmail)? I have seen many online articles and forums indicate the reverse; that is, FROM a PC e-mail client or online webmail TO a Verizon cell phone. (...and the Verizon cell phone or smartphone user *REPLIES BACK* TO the PC user; but the Verizon cell phone or smartphone can NOT initiate a text message or e-mail ON THEIR OWN TO the PC.)

Please reply with solutions or even if possible a stepped answer (1., 2., 3., etc.). A weblink that demonstrates the steps is okay too, but please be careful not to include the inverse or reverse I just mentioned -- that is all I could find.

Also in your response please let me know if some sort of cell phone or smartphone Internet service is required for text messages or e-mails to send and receive too beyond the normal voice service cell phones or smartphones provide.

Thank you!

Answer:How To Send Text/E-Mail *FROM* Verizon Cell Phone/Smartphone *TO* PC?

I get emails on my PC from a friend all the time. The address is her 10 digit phone#@vtext.com. I never asked how she did it, but I find this site:

https://text.vzw.com/vtext/guest/Dashboard.do

It does say to any Verizon mobile customers...

I found this, seems straight forward?

Hello all...
I must preface this by saying I am not at all technically proficient and have a hard time understanding most computerese. I have win7. Recently downloaded Opera mail 1.0 to add to my Opera browser. Finally figured how to get my address book imported, and how to receive email...but for the life of me I cannot send mail. When I hit send it appears to be sent but never gets to the party (I have only tried sending a message to my wife's Ipad and to my own email address...neither is received). My old verizon email is not supported by Verizon anymore but I was told I could keep my Verizon email address if I used AOL as the mail supporter, so AOL still receives my mail and I can send email through my account on their site. I have tried the Opera support pages but cannot find an answer...I would really like to be able to receive and send from my Opera Mail without having to log into AOL.
Can anyone help me out here?
Thank you in advance,
John

Answer:Failure to send e-mails - receive e-mail's OK.

If that error message is as it appears, it looks like you don't have your SMTP details installed in OE > Tools > Accounts > Freeserve > Properties button > Server tab.

Hi all..

My neighbor asked for help on his computer.. I can usually solve his issues.. but this one's got me stumped..

He's running a fully updated XP Home SP3 and Outlook Express.

Say every 10 times or so he tries to send email, OE fails to connect to host and returns a Socket Error 10060.. When this happens, he still has full internet access.. he can surf to his hearts content.. but trying to send mail will fail..

Through trial and error, I've found that when things are failing, if I immediately open a command prompt and release/renew his IP, OE will send no problems.. power cycling the router, however, doesnt necessarily fix the issue like renewing his IP does..

The host he's trying to connect to is his ISP's SMTP server.. he's spent about an hour on the phone with their tech support and thought they had it licked, but no.

He was previously running Avast.. and while on with tech support, they had him install their free Shaw Secure / ISP branded McAfee product.. the problem has persisted over 2 different antivirus products then so I dont think thats the issue.. Nor could I find any mention out outgoing mail scanning in the McAfee configuration..

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated..

Answer:XP Home SP3, OE will receive mail, intermittently won't send.

Oh, I should mention that I scanned the system with Spybot and MBAM as well, and other than Hotbar (which I removed) it was spy/malware free..

i have a laptop with windows 98SE and have posted at that (windows 98) forum a few times..forgot to get my 'computer specs' to paste here...but i do have my hijackthis specs to paste at the end of this question.
I have IE on my computer, and OE,although i have not used it..I prefer for the time being to have a hotmail account where i receive my mail, and send mail also.and store mail also.
.Outlook Express with all its applications,is a bit of a "space- waster". as far as i can see..i am happy with hotmail, for the most part..but i want to have some application from which i can "send to".
.In other words, can i somehow have a 'bare-bones OE',which by application,i can transmit web pages or data to hotmail for the purposes of writing e mail.?..or transmit to another e mail address.

When i press the Outlook Express icon on my desktop,. a dialog box comes up which statesoutlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded..i will copy/paste my hijackthis below..
