Could you help me please?

Thank you very much for your attention.
Best Regards.

Preferred Solution: Errors Pku2ulog failed to start 0xC--35, Negolog failed to start, IDListenLog failed to start, P2PLog failed to start and HomegroupLog failed to start, all with the same failure code 0xC-- 35.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

and was able to start bits service once i then re enabled windows update. it hung for awhile so i restarted and got the same error for bits, tried take ownership again, but still get the same error

Answer:Windows Updates Failed BITS failed to start error code 2147024894

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Also...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

I have clean installed the Windows XP Home OEM on a Athlon 64 3500+, SATA, Asus A8V-E Deluxe based system. This AninsHelp error shows up about 8 times in the Event log. Also noticed that when windows is into the desktop about a minute from being into windows the Floppy Disk drive tries to read for a disk but there isn't one in the drive.

I am using HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook with Windows 10 Home Edition installed.
HD: TOSHIBA MK6465GSX [Hard drive] (640.13 GB)
Recently my laptop started to reboot frequently with some error, overheating and DISK usage always 100%...
I have tried to format the hard drive and tried to re-install it with Windows 10 boot-up disk.
But it is not responding even for the F11 - System recovery option to format it.
I have then tried to run the HP - System Diagonistics with running the "Start-up Test" first.
The result is as below:
Start-up Test:
Memory Test: PASSED
SMART Check: PASSED
Short DST: FAILED
FAILURE ID

PRODUCT ID

Hard Disk 1
------------------
As it looks like Hard Disk issue, I ran the "Hard-Disk Test", but Hard-disk test shows all are PASSED.
It is confusing whether it is really Hard drive issue?
Do I need to replace the Hard drive?
If so, can I go for any hard drive or only Toshiba? any issue in using other HD will have any issue with my mother board?

Please advise.

Answer:Start-up Test Failed - Short DST: FAILED

Sounds like a failing hard disk, but the overheating thing is worrisome.

The TOSHIBA MK6465GSX is a 2.5" form factor SATA drive, 9.5 mm thick. You should be able to replace it with any drive with the same dimensions. (You probably can use a thinner drive, but a spacer may be needed to mount it.) That includes SSDs that are intended as laptop HD replacements.

I see that there are a couple of YouTube videos showing how to replace the HD for your model laptop.

I forgot to turn off the external cooling fan when closing the laptop(putting it to sleep). It eventually drain the battery and didn't hibernate gracefully & caused disk error. 1. Win 7 Home premium couldn't boot up, tried repair & just hang. 2. Diagnostic disk check shows 303 error, which means the disk is toasted. Ordering new disk. 3. I have the HP recovery disks but they are not bootable. All the other recovery solutions rely on running recovery manager but I can't even load windows. 4. I tried to find win 7 iso file but they are no longer available or the OEM product key won't let me download one from microsoft.http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 5. I have backup all the important files using Paragon so I am ready to wipe the disk clean. What should I do next to reinstall the system?

Help in getting rid of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Monday couldn't boot up PC, had to go to system recovery and restore to previous day.

Log files show below that 4 things failed to load.

Tuesday couldn't boot up PC again.. tried to restart like 4-5 times.. Finally comes up and in the logs there's numerous things that failed to load. Running a sfc /scannow right now.

Any ideas what this could be related to or what is causing it?

Answer:Solved: Boot-Start or System-Start Drivers failed to load.

MpFilter is a driver associated with Microsoft Security Essentials... It looks like that was causing issues. Windows Updates had an update for it.. So I downloaded update.. Restared and it worked fine. Removed MS Security Essentials and installed Symantec istead.

Working for the time being...

I checked through the Event log in Administrator tools.
I got the following error: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: BANTExt

What is it?

I googled BANTExt and found out it's BelArc Advisor. Is it true?

How do I stop this error?

Answer:The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: BANTExt

Yes, BANText.sys is the Belarc Advisor system driver file.It is started automatically from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, or RunServicesOnce entry in the registry everytime Windows starts. To prevent the error you would need to find and remove that entry in the registry.

Sorry if this has already been answered/wrong place. I looked at Google but thought I double check here (since the solutions via Google seem to be refering to a different OS to mine)

First of: Windows Vista, SP2, 64 bit.

Now sometimes (and not now since I am writing this) my Keyboard/Mouse just stops working. It freezes completely and I am unable to use it and am hence required to restart the computer. This happens at random occasions but it usually involves opening some program or what not (I noticed a prominent pattern that the mouse/keyboard freezes whenever I go to speedtest.com measure my speed and then once the download speed bar is finished and upload is about to begin my computer freezes).

I had a look at my event viewer and noticed this:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
i8042prt

Now I am not sure whether this appears at the start and then once I run a program or do something (like go on speedtest.com) the commuter then freezes (i.e. my mouse/keyboard is non-responsive) or the error message comes up after my computer freezes but any help in fixing this mouse/keyboard freezing would be very grateful.

The solution to fixing this problem I founds was to go to Registry editor and change the Start D word from 1 to 4 (but I noticed some saying to delete it completely and yet other sources to change it from 1 to 0 and yet even others to change something that I don't even have under that folder). If I was to tamper with the reg informa... Read more

If I was to tamper with the reg information, is it possible that I wont ever get access to my keyboard/mouse? My worry is that I might change some value so that I will have no way of getting to the computer with the keyboard/mouse (I am not good with bios) and would not be able to get help on the internet since I can't connect!

It is bad idea

DWORD Start may have following values

0 -boot ,1 -system ,2- auto ,3 -demand, 4 -disabled. Surly if you'll set to 4 you lose access to keyboard and mouse.Don't modify anything.Find folder C:\Windows\Minidump pack it and attache to post.If Minidump folder is empty use verifier tool to diagnose wrong drivers read here:http://www.vistax64.com/973966-post8.html

Guys, I'm running Windows XP and recently when I turn on my PC it makes a single beeb and then seems to run OK.

Tonight, I was running Firefox and the system seemed to slow, before becoming completely unresponsive. I had Task Manager open at the time, however when I tried to shut Firefox down the PC started bleeping like mad and I was forced to do a hard shut down.

I waited about 1 minute and then rebooted and immedietly went into the Error log and found the following entry:

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: StarOpen"

I tried Googling a fix with no luck and I can't find StarOpen in the Services, Apps or Program files. Nor could I find it listed in the Device Manager or the Boot-start list in msconfig.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Briefly:
My old system hasn't been powered on for about a year. Problem was the onboard video failed (I think)

Recently replaced it with a video card from another system (riva TNT) and bought some memory (system wouldn't boot, determined that the memory was bad)

Now the system booted but win2K wouldn't work. No problem I have XP now...

After multiple error during the xp install I finally got through it...only the computer will only boot in safe mode..

Initially thought it was a hardare conflict so I booted in safe mode with networking and systematically cleared all the yellow ??? in device manager

Still will not boot normally

Checked event log got the following error:
Event 7026: The following boot-start or system-start drivers failed to load:

Amdk7
fips

Searched the net found a M$ support about it

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306458

couldn't find amdk7.sys but managed to update the driver over the net, now its there...yet I get the same error

I did the regedit described but no folder called "parameters"

Made one....didn't work....deleted the value
added the key to my available folder....didn't work

I'm at wits end....I've been working on this (off and on) for a month

Can anyone help with this one?????

Hi,

Can someone please help me? I'm a first-time forum user

I've got an Acer Aspire laptop here that has decided to stop loading/starting up.

When I turn the power button on:
- I can see the Acer logo screen (and also get into setup if I press F2)
- The cursor (_) blinks once or twice
- Then the screen just goes black/blank and stays that way

Twice (when I have left power on at the black screen), I have eventually seen this Windows Boot Manager message (maybe after 5 minutes each time):

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Unfortunately, I do not have the Windows installation disk.

I have tried using a System Repair Disk (on DVD, burnt from another laptop with same OS)....but got stuck when the broken laptop didn't detect or couldn't read the disk.

I also tried the Alt+F10 system recovery, but after 20 minutes on the "Please wait a moment..." screen, I gave up and turned the power off.

Please help. Thanks.

Answer:Acer won't start, Black screen / Windows failed to start

Hello noob and welcome to Seven Forums.

Can you get into Safe Mode via the Advanced Boot Options menu? If yes, you can check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two in the SFC tutorial.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

Safe Mode

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Another possibility from Safe Mode is to try rolling back your computer to a date/time prior to this problem occuring using a system restore point.

When I checked the event log, it says:

The following boot-start or system-start driver failed to load: TrailNavi

TrailNavi is the name of the device specific module that i am making. I am currently using a 32bit server with Windows 2003 OS.

I am trying to test my DSM, but could not do so because the driver can't be loaded..

Any help would be great..

I'm not sure where to even begin to fix these problems. Some online searches suggested doing a system repair but I want to get some more feedback here before proceeding.

Here is the message from the event log:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AFD
cmdGuard
cmdHlp
CSC
DfsC
discache
ElbyCDIO
inspect
MpFilter
NetBIOS
NetBT
nsiproxy
Psched
rdbss
spldr
tdx
vwififlt
Wanarpv6
WfpLwf

I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues. I do have another recent thread here regarding system crashes so I'll leave that alone in this post.

TIA

Answer:the following boot start or system start drivers failed to load

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, or a Repair Install would a better first option.

You will have to reinstall the third-party drivers again yourself from their website.

Hope this helps,

Answer:Failed To Load Dll, No Start Menu, Programs Wont Start, Etc

Please try using this to repair the broken registry entry that may be causing this.Download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click HERE if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.

Ok pretty much the most dense person you will ever likely to meet when it comes to things like this. but will try my best to explain.

Couple of days ago my laptop froze on me resulting on me having to turn it off and start it again by the power button. When I started it again the message below appeared.

WINDOWS ERROR RECOVERY
Windows failed to start . A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
If windows files have been damaged or configured in incorrectly, start up repair can help and diagnose the problem, if power was interrupted during start up, choose start windows normally.

-Launch Start up repair (recommended)
-Start windows normally

When I press Launch Start up repair it goes to a screen with a big cursor (which you can move around) but nothing else happens.
When I pressed on the start windows normally setting it went through to the windows logo whilst starting up but then stalls at this point.

My question is, is it easy to fix & if not where is the best place to take it to get fixed. Said I was pretty dense :p

Thanks for looking

Answer:Satellite C660D froze and does not start - Windows failed to start

>My question is, is it easy to fix & if not where is the best place to take it to get fixed. Said I was pretty dense

I think its easy to fix but you would need an Toshiba Recovery disk.
Did you create one in the past?

If not, try to start the HDD recovery: power up the unit, press F8. Now choose Repair my Computer.
Now new Window should open and here you should choose Toshiba HDD recovery option. This would set the notebook back to factory settings.

In case this isn?t possible, you would need to boot from a recovery disk to reinstall the system.

I recently had to install a new battery for my computer. After doing so I started having this problem and receiving the following Error from the "Service Control Manager" Event ID:7026   The following Boot-Start or System-Start driver(s)
failed to load: ppfd_vt_1_10_0_24    Param 1. The issues I am having are; Unable to completely "SHUT DOWN" unless I press the power button, this is after I have already selected the "shut down" option in the Start menu. Never
had to press the power button to power off my computer. Also, at "START-UP", I get as far as a black screen with a white flashing cursor in upper left-hand corner. At this point I am stuck, nothing takes me out of this state unless I press the "POWER"
button to shut-down. In order to start-up & Boot, I disconnect AC Adapter, remove battery, wait about 20 seconds, re-install battery, power adapter, and push power button. Now my computer is all good. Can anyone help me with this, I've researched for 2
weeks and am no where. Thanks for any help. My computer is quite old, 2010 Sept., but I'm hoping that I don't have to purchase a new one...(I'm a lil cheap) lol

start>control panel>administrative Tasks>Services

So I went there after some suggestions by some members on here, and tried to turn a few programs automatic(not the delayed start) but when I tried to start some of them, I got this message:

Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start

So is there a way to fix this?

Answer:Error 1068 failed to start when trying to start services

Yes, possibly possible! What are the names of the services you are dealing with?

Double click the service - go to the "Dependencies" tab - Check the service names list under "This service depends on the following system components" and then make sure that all the services listed there are already started.

For example, if you're trying to start a service which has dependency on "Windows firewall" service, you need to first make sure Windows firewall service is STARTED.

Hi, Ive been having a really hard time installing a wireless card on a d220m hp microtower, and Im not sure if its hardware or software related.

My linksys USB wireless card works fine on all other computers using the supplied drivers, however on this computer it has never worked. Other USB devices seem to work just fine, but for some reason the wireless card is giving me a hard time.

Ive had XP home and Pro installed, fully updated, and the same problem occurred on both.

I have updated the bios and looked for the most updated drivers, but the device still wont start. Like I said, other USB devices function normally.

Is there any way to know if there is just a hardware incompatibility, or if theres something else thats keeping this from working?
At one point, the card did work for a brief second and detected networks, but only for a second. I am certain the device is 100% functional.

This code 10 is starting to become a nightmare. Any help appreciated.

Answer:Code 10 (device failed to start)

just an update. the device seems to briefly appear and function when plugged into a new port after restarting, but then the system crashes when i try to use it.
I am completely lost. I know the device works and I know the ports work. What could be the problem?

Hi guys,
I am trying to get my microhpone to work, and it doesnt anymore, it's definately not the mic as i have tested it on another comp, but it won't work on this one.

I'm running a Soundblaster Live! 24-bit sound card on windows XP SP2 , and the Creative Game Port has a Yellow- (!) next to it with an error code 10.

Anyone know how to fix it? Or why it does this....

I tried re-installing drivers, changing the sound card to a different PCI slot, and disable the on-board audio, on my Asus A7V600.

Thanks

Answer:Error Code 10, Device failed to start...

Here is what I found on the code, but from what I have read, it doesn't sound as if it will help any:

Code 10

If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places this registry string value there. If there is no "FailReasonString" in the hardware key, the following generic error message is displayed:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.
Solution button: Update Driver

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in fully and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the suggested solution button and update the device driver. It may be possible to remove the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware wizard.

Hello and welcome to Bleepingcomputer!

The first thing you can try after finishing the backup, if Windows does not start, is tapping F8 on startup, on the Advanced Boot Options menu select "repair windows" and do a Startup Repair.

This sounds indeed like a drive problem, and chkdsk /r is a good place to start.

I have also run chkdsk from a command prompt and no errors/problems were found.
I have attempted to restore the system to the only last known recovery point but that process fails as well.
I do not want to use the built in system restore option as there are a lot of files on this fairly new machine that I have not backed up, particularly video files I was recently converting from VHS tapes that are very large and took a lot of time to create.
I have used notepad through the cmd prompt to move a lot of files to an external hard drive, but that process is very time consuming.
Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Windows 7 Failed to start, Startup Repair Failure

The fact that Startup Repair is reporting "NoRootCause" is not good. It could be anything from hardware failure to a virus that has damaged the operating system. Have you tried running sfc /scannow from a command prompt?

Hiya
I was using a thread on this Microsoft Support to fix my cd rom drive as it wasn't showing up on My Computer, I'd done it before and it worked perfectly fine
I went on the registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And deleted 'upperfilters' as per instruction, however there was no 'lowerfilters'
After this I restarted my laptop to see if it worked and my touchpad and keyboard wouldn't work!
I've had to borrow a friends USB mouse but have no keyboard (currently on my iPhone)
I've had to go onto a guest account on my laptop as I am unable to type in my password on my administrator account
Any way I can fix this with just the USB mouse?!

Answer:Touchpad and Keyboard on Sony Vaio 'failed to start (Code 10)'

This is going to sound like suggesting that you close the gate after the horse has left the corral, but any time you make any changes in the Registry you should back it up first with software like ERUNT.  Then if there is a problem you can revert it to the preveous working condition.

Please post the make and model of this computer?

Do you have a installation disc for your version of Windows Vista?  If not, do know someone who can loan you a disc of the same version and bit type?

The only browser working is internet explorer.

I've reinstalled both windows live and firefox but the error persists.

I've also tried the dotnetfx cleanup tool recommended on the microsoft site but this hasn't worked either.
I've run a spybot, malware bytes and iobit scan with no result.

My computer's running windows XP. Any suggestions?

I created this post to help people searching for solutions to Windows Error Messages:

Visual C++ Redistributable Library Missing
Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect
Application Failed to Start
Dependent Assembly Missing
Activation context generation failed
so as to help find this post when using a search engine

Some background: Many Windows apps are built using Visual C++ libraries. The tricky part is that there are many different "versions" of "assemblies" of the C++ libraries in both 32-bit and 64-bit architecture "flavors". So the trick is tracking down the right flavor of the right assembly and version of the C++ library you need.

Hi everyone,

It's just a normal Toshiba NB550D netbook

The only thing that I change is the Wireless Card inside it: the original is a common Atheros half mini card. Recently I have the urge to use internet in 5 ghz (frequency).

Thus, I decide to replace the old one with the *half mini card Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN*
It doesn't turn out so well. The driver is not recognised or more precisely the windows tries to install the driver but FAIL is reported. Device manager tool shows an "!" next to the network card and when I go the its properties at general tab: "*The device failed to start - Code 10*"

I tried many ways to uninstall the driver and reinstall again ; also tried to download drivers from toshiba website for intel network card.

Nothing works so far and yeah I just don't know what to do now.

The possibility that the intel card is broken or malfunctioned is eliminated because I checked that with another laptop already and it just worked like a charm.

Please help me solve this problem. I really need to use dual band (2.4 and 5 ghz) internet.
Appreciate any help!!

Answer:Device failed to start - Code 10 - Intel Wireless Card on NB550D

>The possibility that the intel card is broken or malfunctioned is eliminated because I checked that with another laptop already and it just worked like a charm

Regarding the error code 10:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104/en-us

+The Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software that is installed in Windows.+

I don?t think its Wlan card issue? it could be a compatibility problem between the BIOS and the WLan card.
Not all devices are supported by BIOS?.

But at the other hand the WLan card appears already in device manager and therefore I think there should not be a BIOS compatibility issue.

Did you check if chipset would handle the Wlan card properly?

You haven't yet told us the brand, model, age or configuration, so it is not likely we can come up with some suggestions.
However, it is likely a hard drive glitch, or a software failure.
Save your data to another computer using a USB external drive, or put it in another computer as a slave, so you can save the data before you get too far along.

I did some digging and found some related problems and went ahead and did the first step. Here is the results of the FRST64 scan.

I am writing from my own laptop, but the problem I am having is with another laptop. It is a Sony Vaio running Windows Vista.I am getting an error message when trying to turn it on--Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:1. Insert you Windows installation disc and restart your computer.2. Choose language settings, click next3. Click "repair your computer"If you do not have the disc (of course, I don't!) contact your system admin or computer manufacturer for assistance.File: \Windows\system32\config\systemStatus: 0xc000014cInfo: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt.

Answer:Windows VISTA: Failed to start...won't start in safe mode, or any other mode!

Typically the system32 Files I would simply replace and expect to get back in to Windows, but with The Registry file being purported as Damaged or missing I would recommend re-installing windows. You can get restore CD's from your manufacturer.

If you tap the F8 key on boot and get options to boot into other modes, I would pick Last known good configuration as you might fix the problem this way.
Not likely, but it's worth a shot.

Try the following:How to Test your RAMGuide OverviewThe purpose of this guide is to teach you how to check whether your system's RAM (Ramdom Access Memory) is working properly. Bad RAM can lead to a whole host of problems, often which do not appear to have a single cause -- appearing as systemwide glitches, blue screens, and other system trouble. If you're unsure how to do this, see the How to Burn an ISO File tutorial.Perform these steps on the problem machine.Put your CD in the drive and configure your machine to boot to the CD. We have ten new Dell OptiPlex 780 computers in one shop that all have Windows 7 Professional. Five of them got a black screen with a message "Windows failed to start: a recent hardware or software change might be the cause." On-screen instructions said to restart the computer with the Windows disc, choose language settings and click on "Repair your computer." I used the Windows 7 DVD and it fixed the problem.

Later, each of the ten computers had multiple Microsoft updates (including Windows 7 Service Pack 1). After rebooting the computers, seven of them have come up with the same black screen message. This time the Windows 7 DVD did NOT fix the problem. I am guessing it won't work because Windows 7 is now "SP1" and my DVD is not SP1. Safe Mode takes me back to the same black screen.

I have attached a copy of what the message said. Any suggestions?

I have a HP Pavilion g4-1125DX with Windows 7. A few days ago while I was downloading some files it hung. I could move the cursor but couldn't close the browser window nor could I shut it down. I push the power button down for a few seconds for a hard shutdown, when I tried to power the system back up it would not boot Windows. It gave me several options to back up and tried to perform a Windows Recovery, that didnt work, tried to boot it into safe mode and still got the same error, I gave up trying to save my files as I have most of them backed up anyway so I tried to perform a full system recovery to factory settings. It went through the entire recovery process and said that it was successful. When I tried to reboot after the recovery, it hung on the boot up again. It didn't try to get me to the same recovery menu. It just hung. I tried another hard shutdown and reboot to get to the HP Advanced System Diagnostics and tried the Start-Up Test and it FAILED.  It provided me with the FAILURE ID:  M4H27W-5NR5SC-MFPV5G-60UQ03.  I don't know what to do with that information. I need help. I just want to get this thing back up and running.  Thanks.

Hi LBG, A 303 error is a failure of the short disk self test and would definetely suggest the Hard Drive is failing. As your notebook is still under warranty, just contact HP using the relevant link below and arrange for the drive to be replaced. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K

Hi
my problem happened yesterday. I lost power to my home and my battery backup gave out before I got home to safely shutdown (I don?t normally lose power long enough to wipe out my backup). When power came back on I rebooted Vista 32Bit and was able to login but there were errors (which I did not record). Vista informed me there were errors and suggested I reboot and run CHKDSK. I tried to run chkdsk next time windows load but after my bios loaded I had nothing but a Black screen. I waited for 8 hours and still black screen. So I booted from my Factory Dell CD and Vista was unable to repair automatically.

Boot critical file C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Wdf0100.sys is corrupt

I've actually solved the problem although I'm not really sure what caused it.I run Windows XP Home. When starting up it went through the normal process until it got to the Windows XP page with the green dots scrolling across the page. Once that had completed it went straight back to the initial start page and then gave me the options for satrtup after a failure. Everytime it would get as far as green dots scrolling and go back to start. I then booted from the XP CD and ran an XP recovery. I've done this a few times before with no problem, however this time close completion of installation I got the following error message 'Procedure Entry Point GetIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL'I had to click this error message several times (probably more than 20!) before it cleared. Once it clear the setup finished and everything now appears ok. I would appreciate any info. Thanks

My plan is the build the new system by disconnecting the old drive and installing Win 7 on the new drive on the top of the computer case. If I need to I can disconnect it and reconnect the old drive. It seem that when I go back and forth between the 2 drives I get the following error messages and have to do a windows 7 repair to boot into either drive after a switch. The SATA connectors are different for each drive and they could be connected at the same time but I haven't done that to avoid confusion (or problems).

Can someone explain why I'm getting the error?

Answer:Windows failed to start

Can you plug in both drives, set preferred OS HD to boot first in BIOS setup, trigger other OS HD when needed by using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key? This avoids having different SATA controllers confuse Win7.

I am trying to recover some files off of an old laptop. I can't get it started to do so. It will power on then I select launch startup repair but it will not load and just goes to a blue screen with curser. Please watch the video and let me know if you have any suggestions.

I have already tried the advanced boot options with safe mode or repair computer but it does the same thing.

I'm consistantly getting windows failed to start ever since I switched motherboards. However, I am still able to boot up in linux (from flash drive) and view all the files from the hard drive, so I think the drive is okay. Basically, when windows begins to load, it resets and tries to load again. Startup repair isn't of any use and all my system restore points fail. I tried to run CHKDSK but it only does 4Kb? (my drive is 1TB). Any help appreciated.

Answer:Windows Failed To Start

Same exact model of motherboard or a different one? That's most likely the issue.

Might have to reinstall Windows. What version of Windows are you running?

Dear Friends,

I have a problem in my PC that as I switched on its power, a beep sounded three times and then stopped. Monitor LED was blank; no any message appeared at it while monitor LED continuously blinked. I opened the PC cover and found that LEDs at mother board were illuminated. I re-tighten all the plugs, checked the power supply but all is ok. Can anyone help me out where is the problem?

I performed a bootable clone of my main drive on a 1 TB hard drive and replaced my 500 GB drive with it.  I had started a http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/578479/changing-hdd-size-on-bootable-backup/ thread here.  I am getting this attached screen when I start the system.  I have tried re-installing from my Windows 7 disk to no avail.  I ran a check disk this morning but it showed nothing.  The system starts once I hit enter which is at the bottom of the screen.  I have attempted to change in the bios and I assume it is since the system will eventually start.  Can someone help.  I do have another bootable backup and this one and one I did on my wife's machine work flawlessly.  The backup was done using Casper 8.0 BTW.

Answer:Window failed to start.

Does the following apply?

"Does Casper work with Advanced Format Drives (AFD)?
While Casper has complete support for cloning and imaging Advanced Format Drives (4KB sector size) devices with or without 512-byte sector emulation (512e), Casper does not currently support creating or mounting image file backups located on AFD devices reporting a native 4KB sector size."
