I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hey guys, I want to run some nice games on high settings so i decided to have Multi GPU
My current GPU is Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 and i want to add a Nividia GeForce Gtx 680 (Both should work together)
My Motherboard and BIOS Details are below according to CPU-Z CPUID. and my proccessor is Intel core i7 3.40 GHZ

Hello TSF community.
I am running a Dual-Monitor system, and I would like to know if there is a way have two applications running simultaneously. Such as having a Video Game open and on one screen, while being able to draw in Google Sketch-up. Currently, If i'm in a game and I click off the in-game screen, it will automatically minimize the program. Is there anyway to get around this in Windows 7?

You won't be able to run a full-sized game on one screen and switch to another application on another screen. You can however run the game in maximized Windowed-mode, this should give the effect you're looking for.

I recently bought the Radeon 9800 pro video card which says it supports multi monitors.

I have two monitors that i want to get set up on this but im not sure how to do it. There is only one VGA port ont he card but i have two monitors that both use these. Do i need a spliter of some sort? please help.

Most likely it has a VGA and a Digital.

My system is a Asus L1N84 WS SLI FX74 This system has two physical processors on it. So its two dual cores making it 4 cores.(this is the main focus of this thread being started)
I have had this system since vista was new.
When I biult this system I ordered a copy of Vista Home Premium

When I got it up and running I noticed that when I went to system info it said I had 2 processors. Well I called Asus and AMD and Microsoft. And all of them said that the reason I was seeing two processors is because I have two processors. Me not wanting to hear it did alot of research until I found one thing that told me I was just being told what they thought would get me off the phone with them. And I am having the same issue with Windows7 RC1

What I told them is that is not a good answer because my previous system said I had 2 processors and that system was an AMD 4200 X2
So it said 2 processors and it was just ONE dual core.

Not to mention that this board got a horrible write up against Intel which caused AMD to trash the whole 4x4 idea. Bad for them because this is one hell of a system with all four cores running. Which were not running during those benchmarks against the Intel quad 6700 at the time. Remember I said I installed Vista Home premium. Well it turned out while I was searching Microsofts web site I looked at the differences between Vista Home premium and ULTIMATE. There was my answer staring me right in the face.... So I have 2 HDMI monitors and one VGA monitor, all 1080P.

I have a Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P motherboard and a Sapphire 8GB AMD RX 480.

Latest drivers installed.

I have all thee monitos plugged in, but it only detects the one connected to the RX 480, not the HDMI output and the VGA output on the otherboard I/O,

Is it a BIOS setting I have to change? If so, i can't find it for the life of me. I'm getting desperate. Please help me?

Good Day everyone! I'm not sure if this has been discussed recently or not (searched but was unable to locate anything similar). I am running Win 10 x64 on a Folio 9470m.  Until recently (Anniversary update), I have had the ability to connect multi monitors (2 external + laptop screen), using 2 different style docking stations at different locations (I bounce between offices daily).  The docking stations used are the HP UltraSlim Docking Station (D9Y32AA), and an HP USB Docking Station w/ Video output. On the Ultra Slim, I am connecting using VGA and a Displayport to VGA adapter.  On the USB docking station w/ Video out, I am using DVI, and then the VGA port on the laptop itself. Until the anniversary update for 10, I had no problems with running the 2 external monitors, plus the laptop screen.  Unfortunately, the anniversary update seems to have broken that, using both docking stations.  Just to be clear, I have downloaded the most recent drivers, etc. Now, I know what everyone is gonna say, that I should have waited to install the update, but I couldn't resist (there were some new features I wanted to test out).  Other than wait for updated drivers (no ETA that I am aware of), and rolling back to a prior version of Win 10, does anyone else have any ideas?  I can work with the current setup (1 external monitor + laptop screen), but I would rather be able to use all 3...

My colleage has a w500 that supports his build in screen plus 2 others (total 3).  My w500 only supports 2 (both external).  HOw can they be different?  Is there something I can do to support all three screens?  Is there something about resolution that limits it?  He has small monitors than I do.

unless he has a Lenovo usb2dvi plug in or using an advanced dock with additional graphics card, there is no way that he can have 3 screens.

Any suggestions to deal with multiple monitors in Win7? I was using UltraMon in Vista and really liked what it did. With all the changes to the taskbar in 7, UltraMon has lots of issues.

Is there anything new in 7 dealing with the taskbar (across multiple monitors)?

I'm planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (English) and not sure what version I should buy. I need to be able to switch into Japanese language mode for writing Word documents and composing/reading email sometimes. I do not need the desktop, menus etc. to be displayed in Japanese, however. I've found some info on the Internet and MS web site but still confused:

1) I have read that LIPs can be installed on any version of Win 7 but looks like Japanese must be installed as a full install (no parent language). If this is the case, can I setup 2 user accounts and configure one for English and the other for Japanese?

2) Do I need to have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise edition to do what I want to do?

I've been having problems with WinXP's multilingual filename support. I'm running an English version of WinXP SP2, and have all the required font installed. My default language for non-Unicode programs, as set in the control panel, is Japanese, and I have English, French, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Trad and Simp) input method installed.

Very often (but not always), I will be unable to open some files that have non-English characters in the file name. This includes filenames with Chinese, Korean and Japanese 2-byte characters as well as alphabets with diacritics such as ? in French. But as I said, not all of these files are unopenable; only some characters seem to cause the problem.

When I try opening these files, I'll get a message "@#($.avi file not found" type of message, and it would seem that the filename passed along to the program are corrupted and thus cannot be found. The thing is that the programs I'm using to open these files theoretically support multi language operations. For example, if I try to open a file with these characters with BSPlayer, it might give me a not-found error. But if I drag these files into BSPlayer's playlist, they will run normally. I assume it's something wrong with Explorer's handling of the filenames.

What is this utter garbage? Once I activate two monitors it's like the third doesn't exist. Even activating the second is a chore as I have to first duplicate and then extend before the third will even become an option. On previous versions, activating monitors was a breeze.

You're much better off using Nvidia Control Panel or CCC to work with multiple monitors than using Windows.

hey guys, i'm thinking about buying a new PC from my current setup, which only has a single core.

i use VMWARE and was just curious if it makes use of more than one core? i'm thinking about buying an i3 dual core and was wondering how VMWARE divides up the cores if that makes sense?

if it's a dual core setup would VMWARE give itself one core and then one core for Windows 7?

would an i3 be enough by the way? i'm looking at the i3 530 and would be using the VMWARE window for light coding on Linux. no video editing or gaming. i have an A64 3000+, would this be a big step up?

I have switch the BIOS video from AUTO to IGD, but there is no option for 'Enable Multi-Monitor' under it. I have made sure i have the latest graphics drivers and have also flashed the bios to the latest. Please help! I have 2 of these units installed for a client and need to get this resolved ASAP. Thanks!

Hey you guys. Building a new computer with an X2 AMD processor, and while reading up on the differences between XP Pro and XP Home I noticed this on a few sites:

Am I getting all of this wrong? Does it really mean that a dual core processor won't do crap when dealing with applications in Home, because it's not supported? Or are they talking about two actual processors connected into one computer?

can microsoft implement native multi gesture support for touch pad for windows 8, it like a small touch screen isn't it? as of now it works randomly with some application and not other eg zune, windows explorer doesn't work etc. the feature is so useful it's supprising that microsoft still haven't include it in their os.

Answer:touch pad multi gesture support are a bit behind the times it seems. Windows 7 already has full Multi-touch support. You just need devices that are multi-touch aware/supportive. And applications also need to implement support themselves to get the full benefit.

I've just spent the past 2 hours on the phone with Lenovo support, that has no idea what they're doing. I spent several hours researching and I can't figure this out. I bought 2x Samsung S27C750 monitors and the micro-hdmi to HDMI adapter for my Yoga 2 Pro. Step 1: I connect micro-hdmi into Yoga 2 Pro and the HDMI end into 1st Monitor.Step 2: Add additional HDMI cord from 1st monitor into second.this is where I'm stuck I get a view on 1st monitor, but second can't display anything. Lenovo said it's because I only have 1 HDMI out port on the Yoga. Which I agree with, but there is no way to customize these laptops to add a 2nd or a third. I watched YouTube videos of people doing multi-monitor support, so I know it's possible just don't know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, you cannot daisy chain HDMI.  You need a second output from the computer, probably a USB to HDMI adapter plugged into a USB port on the computer, or an entire docking station (with a video port) plugged into a USB port on the computer. Or, if you can get the mythical WiDi to work, that would be an option, as well.

I've read nearly all the topics related to this, and have looked up what my laptop shipped with, but I can't find solid confirmation that my display has or doesn't have the multitouch display.

It doesn't explicitly say multitouch, so I suspect it doesn't have it. However, in other descriptions of 13N7268 it describes it as "frameless", and my screen definitely has a huge margin between the screen and the bezel.

I'm very interested in the Yoga 2 Pro for my work as a developer.  Currently, I work with a Lenovo X220; at work, I dock it and work on two monitors. At home, I work directly on the X220. But working in Visual Studio 2012 on the X220 screen is not really ideal! I plan to switch to the Yoga 2 Pro, since it offers a better work at home experience. But I have not yet found out if it's also dockable/connectable to multiple monitors. We've looked at a Lenovo Carbon model that used a USB-docking device to connect a monitor, but the performance there was really bad (everything the external monitor displayed lagged behind).  I need to know if the Yoga 2 Pro can be docked decently (no display lag) to multiple (2 or more) monitors. Has anyone tried this yet?

I have a Yoga 11s, which of course is a different machine, but I would guess my experience should apply. I read terrible things about the Lenovo USB hub/dock, so I did a little research before buying my 11s. I found very good reviews on the Plugable UD-3900 USB3.0 dock, so I went ahead and ordered it when I ordered my Yoga. I have been extremely happy with it. It has HDMI and DVI out, Ethernet, audio out, and extra USB ports. All I do is plug in to the Yoga's USB3.0 port and my second monitor comes right up, and I have external keyboard, mouse, and ethernet. It is truly like using a docking station -- I don't have to monkey around with anything when I connect; my Yoga just instantly turns into a desktop machine, including switching to wired from wireless network. I set my Yoga in the "stand" position as an extended desktop. It really works and looks great. The only 'downside' -- if you can call it that --  is that you have to plug the power cable in as well, you can't power the Yoga through the USB. So technically you have to plug in 2 things, not just one USB -- no big deal. Also, I have not actually tried audio out through the dock, so I don't know if there are any issues there. Also, I have not connected a second external monitor, but I assume it's possible to use both HDMI and DVI at the same time. I don't know what performance would be like in that configuration. For me, video performance with one external monitor + Yoga is excellent -- it feels ... Read more

Hi all.

I have installed Win 8 preview and really like the OS however I have come across a problem and would be very grateful for any help people can give me. for some reason the OS only seeing one of the 3 core's of my CPU does any one know of a way to get it to see the other core's or of a possible work around for the problem.

Is this what you mean?

The first image shows a single graph for both CPU cores, whereas the second image shows a separate graph for each core. To switch from single to separate mode, right-click the graph, mouse over Change graph to and click on Logical Processors. To switch from separate to single mode, click on Overall Utilization instead.

I have two Acer 23 inch multi touch screens, being driven through a Matrox DualHead2Go. So the ATI graphics card thinks it is driving a single 2050 x 1080 monitor, the DualHead2Go then splits this across the two screens.

Will Windows 7 support multi touch across two screens?

Hi guys, I'm interested in buying a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch and a docking station for it.Before I buy it, I would like to know first whether I can use simultaneously the integrated laptop screen and 3 additional external monitors, all in extended mode (using the docking station, or other DisplayPort - DVI adapter) As far as I have read in the technical specs, it has the Intel HD Graphics 4000, but no information is given about how many external monitors this GPU supports. Has anyone tested this? I have been given an M900 Tiny to test running 4 monitors on it.  I have 2 Lenovo DP to Dual DP adapters connected to 4 Lenovo 23.8" Monitors.  3 of the monitors are working, but 1 is not, with just the light flashing on the adapter.  I have been looking at Mosaic Mode, but I want to be able to run all 4 as extended display.

Apparently Microsoft put up a post on this subject on the building Windows 8 blog and then took it down again. Fortunately someone from Neowin spotted it first and was able to come up with the above article.

Microsoft seems to be hearing a lot of the complaints users of multi-monitor systems have been voicing.

Hello, the computer I am currently using was bought from Best Buy and came with Windows XP. I know it's a legitimate copy because I've downloaded various utilities from the Microsoft website and it always has to verify my copy, but since my computer came with Windows XP installed, I do not have a Windows XP CD.

The problem is that I need many of the non-standard multi-lingual utilities that ask me to put in a Windows XP installation CD when I try to install them.

Specifically, in the language options menu, I'm trying to "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages", and also "Install files for East Asian languages".

It seems like I should be able to get these files from the Microsoft website, but the website is so vast and I don't even know what the file names or anything are so I don't know where to search there.

How can I get these and other Microsoft language utilities installed without the installation CD?

I have tried 1. Second Copy 2. Backup to CD-RW and 3. Data Replicator three backup software but, none of them support file's or folder's name other than English like I tried file's name in Japanese, Chinese and Thai and these 3 software are all read them as error file name and will not backup the files.

Anyone can suggest one software for me to solve this problem ?! Thanks !!

Computer - HP Elitebook Folio 9470m OS - Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit Processor - Intel CORE i5-3427U CPU @ 1.80GHz  2.30 GHz Display adapter- Intel HD Graphics 4000 Anybody know why this unit won't support dual/multi-screen display? When the second, external monitor is connected by VGA to VGA, nothing happens on the Control Panel/Display/Change Resolution page. The drop-down box where mulit-screen display should be selectable offers only "1. Generic Non-PnP Monitor".....and nothing else. Thanks for any insight.Michael

This is my situation. I have a users that currently uses a desktop machine in the office. We are going to replace her desktop with a laptop/docking station combo. Our current config is this, the users "documents and settings" folder is stored on the server. So the users "my documents" and "applicaiton settings" are stored server side. The user is able to log onto the domain while offline, but none of her files are accessible b/c they are all stored server side. In the end, i would like the user to have all her server side files also stored locallly so she can still access them offline and when she comes back into the office, resync it all.

How could i do this?

Answer:Need to support laptop domain users

Offline files. Point the users My Documents folder to the server using the UNC path. Then right click on My Documents and check Make available Offline. Walk through the wizzard and your set.

Does Vista support domain logon over dial-up? In XP and 2k this is done by checking the "Log On Using Dial Up Connection" checkbox on the logon dialog. Is there a way to enable this checkbox in Vista? Is there another way to accomplish logging in as a domain user over dial-up? Can anyone confirm that this officially is no longer supported? I have found that it is possible if A) the computer is joined to the domain, B) you pre-configure a DUN connection, and C) that connection can be used by all users (i.e., is owned by System). Here are the details:
Logon to Windows using PLAP (Pre-Logon Access Providers)

1. Log on as a local admin.
2. Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Setup up a connection or network >> “Connect to a workplace” OR “Set up a dial-up connection”.
3. Check the checkbox to “Allow other people to use this connection” (so that the owner of the DUN configuration will be System and not your individual user).
4. Complete the wizard and save the connection.
5. Join the PC to a domain (establish a dial-up connection first, if needed).
6. After rebooting, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to log on if prompted.
7. You are presented with the logon screen for the user that last logged in. Press Esc or click Switch User to view other logon options.
8. There will now appear a blue button near the lower-right corner, just to the left of the red Shut Down button.
9. Click the blue button. If you have more than one System-owned DUN configuration, then all of them will appear here as a button that can be clicked, in which case you click the one you want to use.
10. If prompted, type the username and password for the DUN connection and click the round, blue button to connect.
11. A dialog appears, showing the progress of the connection attempt.

I did some research on your machine and found its entry in the Personal Systems Reference. Machine type 3113-94U does not support MultiTouch, unfortunately. This information can be found in the link on page CML3-4 (use Ctrl+F to find it faster.)
MultiTouch, however, means to be able to use three distinct points on a touchscreen at once, not being able to use different touch inputs. I think you should be able to use your fingers to touch objects on the screen, though the pen might be easier.

 I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in  Brazil), so that, I called Brazil´s support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop  and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy  an image file  that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the  support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise,  my laptop doenst have any  entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. I keep receiving calls from fake MICROSOFT Tech support with various telephone numbers. Strange, they do not show up in my phone on line logs. They wanted me to go to FASTSUPPORT\763721586 ( do not use  these numbers). It is a company  called they also give you a complaint department where you can enter the number that you feel is causing you problems, the number of the LOGMEINRESCUE type remote access code. of course it is clear to them that you are suspicious and they will get rid of the  phone operator who didn't succeed. So do not bother to leave any complaint.

I have just sent a thinkpad back for repair for the first time in over 20 years of owning  Thinkpad.  I have had 8 thinkpad  series laptops in my time as well as a few desktops and now lenovo phones. I am absolutely horrified with the diabolical Thinkpad support. This is meant to be business level support. I feel like I am phoning up Curry's.  Laptop sent back with hard disk in it and I am being told now that it "turned up without a hard disk in it". Now undercurrent of me lying. Original problem had not been assessed and I still don't have my laptop back after 3 weeks. Customer service agents just tell you anything they want to get you off the phone. I suppose all things come to an end but my loyalty to the Thinkpad brand is probably over now.  I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone else come across this?

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem. 
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.  
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS laptop. Afew months after I bought XPS 15 9560, I pulled out the charging cord, and a round piece of plastic that was inside the port came out too.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that

All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

Some how my old friend managed to upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 with that chipset driver CD I gave him. I don't know how he did it. I would ask him but he moved to Germany. Anyway I've heard you can run the setup with Windwos Vista compatiblity mode but I don't know if it is safe. Anyone know?

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen some software that would allow me to remotely manage multiple domains across many sites over many sites thought one console, preferably a web interface. Basically what I picture is a webui where I choose the domain, then from that point forward im able to add/remove/change users, windows shares, and exchange accounts. I would also like it to do DHCP and DNS management as well.

I'm basically looking for the windows version of Webmin but where I install a small agent on the server I wish to manage then I go from there. is very close but I dont really need the whole "mobile" part and would like 1 interface for all domains.

My PC Dell Aurora R4 won't update properly due to it not being on the list of windows 10  creator supported drivers PC from dell. Does anyone one know if dell is going to correct this matter.
This is urgent as this leaves me as a customer vulnerable, due to the W10 System of queuing downloads and there is a security one that is waiting.
I have checked directly with Microsoft Technicians and they confirm this is the issue "No Driver support for Aurora R4 Listed, W10  Creators edition. Can dell Update an then inform us a the machines cost a pretty penny and are meant to be future proofed with drivers even without a warranty. Thank you. Hey guys I have acer laptop. I got some issue with USB ports so acer service center engg came to my house and after opening the screw he said hings are broken. That's it and fix the USB ports issue and went. After 2days my laptop's back body start breaking and when I call acer support they said we are not allowed to register on hardware issue. It took a month to register one compliant . And they never bother about that. They are like it's hardware issue you have to pay.. My laptop is in warranty period and It not my mistake boz I never had issue of hing n ol. Dell Support "Assist" just ran without giving me an option to stop, pause, or control in anyway.  It was using nearly all computer resources (I could barely save the word document I had open at the time).  This isn't "assist" more like computer take over.

How can I control the S. "Assist"?  How can I adjust the time between it's runs (currently it looks like monthly)?  After finishing it's scan or whatever it finally closed (cuz it wouldn't close the 20 times or so I clicked the "X").  I then opened it, looking for some results of the scan, and found none.  How can I view results?

Right now, seems like worthless bloatware.

Also, there is not a [New Post] button on the Laptop Forum (at least for me).

I think the revamped Support Assistant is brilliant - especially for drivers where it checks your PC, rather than give you a list of driver updates for your model, as the old website-based Driver Update checker did. It has an "Add a device" facility but it doesn't find my HP DCP_J315W printer, connected via wireless. Does Support Assistant support printers? edited 08:07: typo

hello to everyone!!

im working as a tech support agent for one of the biggest ISP in the US.. its a good paying job and also very challenging.. i use to troubleshoot internet connection issues for residential accounts (1 pc only) and for all other issues that i get, i browse for similar issues on the forums of this site.. well, most of them came pretty handy (esp for the security forums).. now, i got transferred to the networking department and im in a total loss!! i can do simple troubleshooting and install assists for new networking users but i really need help in issues like:
1. remote access/ port forwarding
2. invalid IP addresses on the wireless devices
3. file and printer sharing
i was browsing through all the topics but i cant find any.. if there is someone out there who can help me with this issue and give me some pointers on how i am going to do this in an easier way.. i would really appreciate any assistance..

Here is the scoop ... Two networks connected via frame relay line. Two different PDCs and domain names. Can ping internal IP address, but can not browse through Network Neighborhood. Set up WINS on both and when trying to get them to share info I get Connection was aborted by the remote WINS in the event log. I can see the IP addresses for the remote network through the DHCP manager. Any ideas on what I should do to be able to browse the remote network and also set it up so that I can administer it remotely, would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased the Lenovo brand because it offered many more features then the competitors within the price range we needed.  My son needed it for school so of course we went with the i7 processor because we were told it was the best and wanted to ensure we didn't have an outdated computer within the next few years when our other children would begin to use it.
Our computer is not charging and I have contacted every department I could think of and was referred to some others along the way.  I am very stressed and upset on how my problem/question is being handled.  I was hoping to get everything resolved before school starts again on Jan 3rd so my son doesn't fall behind. 
The history of my purchase:
I purchased my lenovo ideapad y560 in 2010.  Upon arrival it did not work and I had to send it back for a replacement (this order# 2FL8RF  S/N ******** was ordered 9/13/2011 shipped 9/17/2011 a return authorization generated 9/23/2011 and you received the unit back on 10/23-10/24/2011).
 My new one came and the start date of warranty was 10/6/2010.  A few months in I called in again for the blue system screen and was told I had to restore my computer with the restore button which I did even though I lost all of my work and applications.

So Im trying to get Win7 RC1 x64 to work on my laptop with a Radeon x700 in it and can't seem to find any working drivers or "trick" the system into using drivers. Thus I am stuck with the "default graphic card" (or whatevers its called) crap. Everything else works great on the laptop except that.

So has anyone found workarounds to this yet?

We would like to block (with Privatefirewall 7.0, and yes we understand it is somewhat obsolescent/unsupported, but so far so good) a domain name, but not sure of the correct protocol.
In this case the Malwarebytes popup was the multi-level domain name ''.
For the Privatefirewall 'Blocked Sites' and then 'Host Name:' , do we need to type in the entire 3-level name, or just the 2-level name (ie ?
Also, we have since seen a new 3rd level, ie '', and wonder if just the 1st 2 levels will take care of any new 3rd levels.

We currently have an exchange 2010 server with multiple domains using custom attributes and separate databases to separate them. However now we are being asked to give Administrator access to the domain. When we try to assign an administrator to the domain it shows all the domains in the forest. This of course is not what we want.

How can I separate the domains to have their own administrators without using the /hosting mode as this is a live server?

PS - Wasn't me who built this
PSS - I'm an exchange newb, so go easy on me.
