PC crashes when playing YouTube videos and playing some games, but not others

Question: PC crashes when playing YouTube videos and playing some games, but not others

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Caviar Green), PSU (now EVGA 500w 80 Plus), and added a PCIe graphics card which was removed from the system when it did not fix the problem; so that it could be used on a system that was stable. The graphics card that was used was a ASUS 4gb R7 290 STRIX, that is currently working fine in different system. Just as a side note, the PSU was replaced to support the graphics card; not because it seemed to have failed. In fact, all of the parts removed from the system, work without issue in different systems. That's ok, I wanted to upgrade anyway.

I have also used monitoring software to watch the temps and volts during a crash, and have never saw any temps/volts spike, drop, or get above normal operation during any freeze. This has been tested countless times and each time hardware was replaced. I used the programs HWinfo and HW monitor and watched the CPU, MOBO, RAM, graphics card; no temps ever got too high or even spiked, no volts surged or dropped. When all the hardware replacement didn't work and temps seemed normal, I even tried replacing the thermal paste (used Artic Silver 5) and cleaned the heatsink. The only components in the PC that are original are the CPU and MOBO.

This problem has also persisted through an update to Windows 10 and a clean install of Windows 10. I have updated drivers for VGA, LAN, WLAN, and updated BIOS. Installed K-Lite Codec Pack (unselecting all the junk it tries to install with it), because I read somewhere it could be a codec issue.

There are probably other programs I have used and steps that I have taken to try and resolve this, I just can't recall because of all different things that have been do over such a long period of time. I was just hoping that someone would have some other ideas that I can try. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I can provide any other information you might need. Thanks for the time!!

Preferred Solution: PC crashes when playing YouTube videos and playing some games, but not others

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi, i sometimes experience crashes when i watch Youtube videos. the screen turns black for awhile, then a message pops up (shown below).

that is one of the two problems i have. the second problem is when i'm playing a game (Heroes of Newerth) and my computer just freezes.

this all started after i used the program Driver Genius Professional to update my drivers. me being the dumbass that i am, did not create a backup before updating. after the update it fixed some of the sound issues i had with games, but also started causing crashes when i watched Youtube videos. this was about a month ago and as time passed it got worse and worse. it started causing my computer to freeze whenever i played games. after i restart my computer from a crash sometimes it starts up to a black screen and just sits there until i restart agan.

i've attached a .txt file with the information from dxdiag. i'm quite a "noob" when it comes to computers so if i have missed anything please let me know.

thanks.

Good afternoon every one!

I am having problems with Windows Explorer crashing every 3 minutes (very precisely thanks to Windows App logs)

I have read a few old threads on the forum and followed a few steps.

It seems that the Atium64.dll is at fault in my case. I will look into downloading an older or newer version.
Until then, please orientate me with your knowledge!!!

So yeah, I have this problem where every time I start to play a YouTube video, my screen will flicker a little then go black, permanently. I then have to force a power off to get Windows working again.

I can't figure out if it is Windows, FireFox, the Nvidia driver or the Flash plugin that's causing the problem.

A few times when the screen flickers it does come back on, with a balloon message saying the Nvidia driver has crashed and restarted, which would obviously point to the drivers. But only today I updated to the newest version (266.58) but still the problem occurs.

I removed the video driver, FireFox and Flash. Reinstalled all drivers cleanly, but I'm still having all the same problems. I can't for the life of me work it out.

And this only happens on YouTube. Any other video streaming sites play absolutely fine, but YouTube? Nope.

Can anyone out there give a little help to this problem?

Oh, it's Windows 7 64-bit, on a Dell XPS M1730 with Nvidia GeForce 8700m GT

Thank you in advance!

I had no idea where to post this so I just chucked it here :confused

Hi I'm new to the forum, and I'm an absolute dummy when it comes to computer troubleshooting so I've come here for some help!

My computer shuts down randomly when playing games, or watching youtube videos, or even just for seemingly no reason. By randomly I mean without warning and with no order to when shutting down (could be a minute after beginning playing the game or an hour).

The computer also has A LOT of difficulty rebooting, and quite often the monitor doesn't switch on after pressing the power button. Sometimes it will start up first try, other times it can take 30+ restarts before it boots completely. It often gets stuck at the first screen of the startup (has a bit of text and also says "Dual BIOS on the left). It also freezes at other points during startup sometimes and gets frozen on the login screen and on the decktop just after logging on.

I have a feeling this has something to do with the power supply but I'm not sure. Here are the computer specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
System Model: GA-MA790X-UD4P
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

Thanks for reading all this!!!!

Answer:Computer shuts down when playing games, youtube videos...

Im inclined to agree with supposition of PSU (so you know more than you think! ) That said it could also be RAM. I dont think it will be overheating but it is possible.

Have look at your CPU temperatures with CoreTemp and test your RAM with Memtest86. both are free and will roule out other problems before you purchase a new PSU. If they both come back clear then try replacing PSU but make sure you get it from somewhere with a no questions return policy in case new PSU doesnt fix the problem.

My next culprit is Motherboard.

This BSOD happens mostly when I'm trying to run games. I don't do anything particularly graphically intensive on my computer, mostly WoW and things like Starbound and League of Legends. It also crashes occasionally while watching YouTube videos though this is much less frequent. The research I've done seems to imply it's some kind of issue with my drivers, but I have no idea how I would begin to solve that. I've tried re-installing my video drivers from scratch and it hasn't solved the issue. If you can do anything to help me out, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Hi ncolon.

The latest BSOD dump in the zip is of 07/03. It is a stop 0x3B.

Though it is not saying anything else precisely, but display driver failure is one of the probable causes of a stop 0x3B.

Answer:laptop freezes while playing youtube videos/flash games?

Hi,

We would need to see some information about your setup in order for us to be able to attempt diagnosis.
Please download Speccy System Information Tool and save it to somewhere convenient such as your desktop.
Close any programs that may be running including your browser and double click Speccy.exe to run the tool.
Watch out for any offers to install other programs such as google chrome and untick the box(es) if you don't want them.
Speccy will very quickly scan your pc and create a report.
Top left of screen click file and select Publish Snapshot...
Click Yes to proceed.
Copy the URL to your clipboard and paste it into your next reply.

Hi, recently I have been suffering system instability issues but cannot for the life of me figure out which driver is causing the problem, or if it is indeed hardware related.
I have stresstested my CPU with Prime95, my GPU with various benchmarks and have run memtest successfully. This is why I am leaning more towards the driver issues.
My Dumps and specs should be included in the zip. Help would be much appreciated.

Hello all. I have been having the same problems with my desktop (a Frankenstein's monster of different parts first put together with assistance at the closest Frys store) that have spanned at least a few years. I've needed it for college and it mostly works for what I need it to do so I left it like this but would now like to once and for all solve the problem.

I'm running Windows 7 with a MSI mainboard, AMD FX-4100 CPU, 4 Gigs of RAM, currently connected to a ATI Radeon Graphics card connected to a cheap, old HP Pavilion mx50 monitor.

Okay, so the symptoms. Originally, when my computer was left to idle the monitor would shut down as monitors usually will but along with the monitor the whole system would be in a coma that I couldn't even use the off button to stop. I had to push the switch on the back to turn it off. Now it can idle for at least thirty minutes, but I think if left for an hour or two it does the same thing. Unfortunately I forgot how I managed to improve this problem.

The second problem still happens and is my major concern. When running certain functions the computer will either do the same as above or it will crash and immediately turn off the whole system. I can watch DVDs without problems for several hours and mp4s for at least twenty minutes but if I watch for longer, play Minecraft, or even watch Youtube for a significant portion of time it will crash. When it crashes like this I will usually need to wait for around ten to fifteen ... Read more

Hello, recently (past 3 months), My computer has been freezing and I believe this is a graphics card problem. When it freezes, if I am watching a video or playing a game, the sound I am currently listening to will become "electronic like". This usually occurs anywhere from 2-10 mins then it will continue playing. Sometimes, it is will not continue and I will have to Restart my laptop by holding the power button. I should also add that twice I have gotten the BSOD.
I should also add that, this regularly occurs when watching Netflix or playing browser games while talking on skype.
I am not very good with computers, but would like all the help I could get.

Hello sevenforums Community,
since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

I really appreciate help (and sorry for my english skills ^^)

Have you tried in a different browser?

Trying in a different browser will help us determine whether it is a problem/setting in IE, or if it is a broader issue with your computer/OS.

The other thing I would try is to reset IE.

In IE go to Tools -> Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Click Reset button.
Restart IE.

Let us know what you find.

I just recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and now on IE11 some of the videos will not play on Youtube what should I do to fix this

Answer:Some videos not playing on Youtube

Install latest Adobe Flash for the non-IE browser you are using (if so).

For Firefox or Opera - Download Flash Player 12.0.0.54 Beta (Non-IE) - FileHippo.com
For Firefox or Opera - Download Flash Player 11.3.300.257 (Non-IE) 64-bit - FileHippo.com

If you already did,

Clear the LSOs:

Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel

If you are trying to use IE, try a Windows Update to install Flash or update it.

I cannot play Youtube videos on my Lumia 950, my Windows 10 laptop, or my Roku 2. When I use Metrotube, it spits an error. I have not heard anything about a widespread outage. This has been going on for several days.

Answer:YouTube videos not playing

Metrotube is working fine today on my 920 with Windows 10, but not my W10 pc or SP2 with 8.1. In recent weeks I've been unable to play videos with a duration longer than about 10min. Weird.

I've installed Pale Moon browser on my laptop (Win 7), as I've read that it's pretty simple and quick (and based on Firefox), and I was having a slowness problem with Firefox. Anyway, it's pretty damn quick compared to Firefox, everything seems to open immediately, just like when I was using Win XP. But.....it won't play YouTube (flash) videos. There's forums on the net where some people can play them and others can't. So, I installed Pale Moon on my PC (Win7) just to see what happens, and immediatley it played Youtube (flash) videos. Both laptop and PC have Shockwave Flash as plugins, as well as VLC Web plugin and Adobe Acrobat plugin. Why would the PC play the videos but the laptop won't. I click on the play arrow but nothing happens, no "not working" message or anything. I can manually drag the button across the red line and watch the video that way.....not very good though! Can play YouTube videos in Firefox.
Any ideas please?
Laptop has 2GB RAM, PC has 4GB RAM. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Crash caused by your Realtek network driver. You have the latest driver so I would like for you to download the driver from here - Realtek

Uninstall the network device from device manager and make sure to choose the option to remove driver software.

Reboot the computer and install the latest you just downloaded and see if that fixes the problem

Okay so I have recently bought an Inspiron 15 i3 laptop and I've started having a few problems playing videos on both google chrome and microsoft edge. I downloaded the latest adobe flash and that didnt help, the video appears to load but just never starts playing. So I installed the latest drivers for my device which was the Intel HD 5500 and the videos started playing and working fine but once I shut down my laptop and turn it back on they dont work again and then I have to go through the process of installing the drivers again. How can I fix this so I dont have to install new drivers on every reboot?

Hello! for the past few weeks the youtube videos aren't playing smoothly. I tried playing the same video in dailymotion (both at 720pHD) and it plays quite smoothly. The videos at youtube start off well, but after few seconds it lags and then it plays well.. this goes on and on (around 10 times in a video of 3 mins). I tried to lower the quality to 480p, but the problem still exists.
Also, tried disabling the extensions but it still the same! Help please.. Thanks in advance!

Hi Duncanj,

Welcome to the 8forums.

I recommend to remove Tweakbit software, it is quite poorly written and its functionality could cause problems due to the poor coding.

Please uninstall everything of AMD graphics using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer. Use custom/advanced installation to ONLY install the drivers.

I upgraded to Windows 10 as soon as it was available to me, and I noticed 2 problems with YouTube right away. There's an extreme lag with YouTube videos, even if I have only one tab and no other programs running. The audio and the video both lag, and nothing seems to fix this. Another problem, a lot of videos just don't play, even after trying everything I can think of to fix it. I've tried refreshing the page, closing and reopening the tab, restarting the browser, changing browsers, restarting my laptop, and nada. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I could fix either of these?

Hi All, thanks in advance for your help

I have a brand new pc, Haven't had any issues with it even playing new higher end games like Thief.

But I have got a BSOD twice now, and they both occurred under the same circumstances.

When watching a video on youtube (this dosnt happen 99.9% of the time) I might pause the video. then press play not long after. the computer freezes up, sound gets suck playing the last sound it was playing
and instantly the BSOD screen comes up saying its going to restart in a moment. the first code i got was 0xa0000001 . I wasn't able to write down the second code in time.

My first though was that it was something to do with flash player, but now my inclining makes me feel its something to do with my graphics driver. But im really not sure so here i am asking for kindly help

If so, try disabling extensions one at a time to discover the culprit.

I have strange problem with playing online videos.

When i play video on youtube in minimum screen or middlesized one videos are normal, but when i play it in fullscreen video is oversaturated (too much contrast and light). The same happens at ANY video online (not just youtube).

It also happens when i play any video with windows media player at any size, but when i play movies with other players (like mpc,VLC player etc) its fine. I think some settings for online playing and media player are screwed up

Look at this picture to see about what im talking:

http://imgur.com/wDSSgwK

Answer:Help with contrast when playing videos on youtube or wmp?

No I don't think so, there are no such settings, also contrast has nothing to do with your issue, looking at your sample, it seems like in full screen, the number of colors supported is lower so you are getting the next best thing. Check to see that you have the latest video drivers installed, also if you are using either the NVidia or the ATI center, you may see if there is something you can tweak there. But the monitor itself could be the issue, so see if you can borrow a monitor from a friend and reproduce the problem.

This is a really annoying problem.
It nearly happens to all youtube videos i play.
The title is self explanatory, the videos keep on playing even though i stopped the video. I have tried re-installing firefox and flash, but with no good results.

Any ideas?

Answer:Youtube videos keep on playing even when i stop the video

Are you sure those videos run in Flash? Right click on a video and see if it displays Flash settings or HTML5 settings.

As far as my personal experience goes, whenever I install a new browser, or just clear my cache and cookies, then sign in to YouTube again, it seems to enable the HTML5 player by deafult, even though I don't opt in for the experiment. You can go to YouTube HTML5 page. and at the bottom of the page click "Join HTML5 trial" then "Leave the HTML5 trial"; that should fix some videos (with no ads) automatically playing in an HTML5 player.

As far as the Flash player goes, I'm not sure whether this is a Flash issue or something else on YouTube's part because for the last couple of days, I have a different issue where the progress bar doesn't show me how much of the video it has loaded (the gray meter that fills below the red progress indicator) though the video plays fine.

I recently build a new computer (everything new except for harddrive), and upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10.

Few days ago I got a BSOD while watching youtube in firefox (I dont recall the type of error) than today I got a BSOD while watching youtube again (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION).

I tried running verifier but my system crashes before it gets to windows, had to boot in safe mode to disable it to get my system stable enough to post this.

I did run 12 hours CPU stress test on this hardware with no crashes
I did run memtest86 overnight and detected no errors. (I also ran windows memcheck)
I did run 4 hours of GPU stress test with no crashes.

I tried running dm_log_collector but it freezes on the msinfo32 step ... since the file claimed to be corrupt I run msinfo32 /report from command line by hand and copied it over to the dm_log_collector generated folder. Zipped that folder and attach it to this thread.

Please let me know if you need any other info from me.

Help greatly appreciated ... I would want to figure out if this is a hardware problem quickly (and what part of my hardware) so that I can make the appropriate returns.

I was recently trying to watch a video and it would stay on 1% buffer. I left it at this and watched a youtube video in the mean time perfectly, then suddenly the other video started fully buffered. I tested many times and basically all videos except youtube videos must load completely after hitting the 'play' button before actually starting where as youtube downloads and plays simultaneously

Thanks guys!

The latest among these is that Windows 10 crashes after playing youtube videos for sometime with BSOD.
In the message it says 'unhandled kernel exception'!

Is anyone else getting this kind of issue with video playback?
Could this be related to drivers?

What can I do to resolve these intermittent crashes?

I've seen a lot of ways to make YouTube videos auto play, but no one else seems to want to prevent them from playing unless I click on them but me. I have limited bandwidth, so I'd rather not play videos unless I specifically choose to. I used to have an option to "stop download" when I right clicked, but for some reason on these that automatically start up, that option isn't there anymore.

I recently had issues with Firefox. Youtube would not play any video. Or basically any video on any website. So after updating flash and still having the same problem. I went directly to the main source of my woes.

Firefox help. They have a great tip section in help and what they had me do, to was to uninstall flash 13 to an earlier version of flash. And they provided a link to it as well.

That did the trick. Adobe is obviously updating versions without testing them thoroughly.

So for anyone having issues with playing Youtube videos, try this first. I also tried doing a System Restore, but that also saves the newest version of Flash, so it was pointless. You dont always need to update flash. It may give you more grief then its worth

It does sound like a isp problem unless your connection is being shared.
Is it just YT that is giving you grief or other sites ?
Try turning off the modem for a minute or 2 and see if that works.

You might want to consider contacting your isp to see if there are any local problems.

And btw, welcome to TSG, help yourself to the wealth of knowledge available here.

Hi yyanho.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tools before you upload another zip.

Answer:BSOD when playing youtube videos or online media

All drivers should be downloaded and installed from HP. Avoid 3rd party programs that update drivers on your system; those drivers are not always the best option, and updating multiple drivers at once leads to a higher likelihood of installing a buggy driver or installing a driver that is meant for hardware that is similar but not identical to that which is in your system.

Additionally, pre-built systems by HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. have special power schemes that their drivers are designed to handle and the drivers provided by 3rd parties do not fit into those schemes. That in itself can cause instability and blue screen crashes. You may need to install Windows fresh or use your HP recovery discs to revert back to how the system is meant to be setup software-wise.

This past week I've encountered a BSOD almost daily and I really don't know what to do about it. I feel bad pandering for help on the internet but I'm not really sure where else to turn as I built this computer myself.

Each time I get a blue screen, my audio cuts out for a couple seconds, the screen freezes and then turns black, and then the computer restarts and it functions normally until another one hits. I copied/pasted the past 2 error messages and they are as follows:

1. Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S .
Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
2. Would suggest you remove your AODDriver2.sys, Asus Overdrive for testing purposes.
3. Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your DMP, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

When finished you can use this Freeware:

Hi,
BSOD have been occurring every 2-3 days, mostly while watching YouTube videos and playing games.

System spec:

x64 - the original installed OS is on the system. - full retail - What is the age of system (hardware): 2009 i think? - What is the age of OS installation: 2009 i think?

I bought the computer last year, formatted it twice myself.
I have also upgraded the ram from 4gb DDR3 to 8gb DDR3 (crucial)

BIOS is fairly up to date, so likely nothing to worry about there.

Device Concerns:None.
Software Concerns:You only had one .dmp file. It appears the others were cleared away with CCleaner. Please refrain from using CCleaner for the duration of your troubleshooting.
Analysis:Your one .dmp was inconclusive. I did see in your Event Viewer logs a 0x116 Bugcheck:BugCheck 0x116

All of your crashes were DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.

Hi,

I have been having a problem with my laptop for about 4-5 months now in this situation. When playing youtube videos with IE9, the laptop will randomly freeze up and the sound that comes out of the speakers is all robotic and buzzy, almost sounds satanic! It will last for a couple of minutes and then usually unfreeze and resume, but sometimes it will unfreeze and bluescreen and then go back and says video hardware error. Other times it just stays in this wierd frozen choppy state and I have to hard power off the computer. I've tried everything from updating drivers, virus scans, disk cleanup, defrags, etc, nothing helps.

The error info I found in the reliability monitor says:

Answer:Video Hardware Error when playing youtube videos

BCCode: 117 is a display driver issue and being that there are no dump files in your zip (sometimes that's normal) I would download this little tool called DriverView:

DriverView: Loaded Windows Drivers List

it's just a utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system, see what your display driver is and reinstall it after you have completely removed the other display drivers using the software you used to install them with, they usually have an uninstall option. If you have no luck after that I would venture to say that your video card integrated or not may be going bad...

All the YouTube videos embedded in Facebook do not play when in HTTPS. When I click play, the video just disappears and it leaves blank white space. While when not using a secure connection, everything works pleasantly well.

Is there any way to fix it, play videos, even when in HTTPS?

Browsers - Firefox, Chrome, Opera & any browser that I tried this on.

Answer:YouTube videos embedded in Facebook are not playing when in HTTPS

What if you try to play it on Youtube or is the problem just on Facebook? If it's just on Facebook, my guess is you need to change some sort of setting within Facebook. I'm not on Facebook so I don't know what that would be.

Hi I've been getting BSOD's for a few days now. It started off only happening when I was playing youtube videos on firefox, with messages related to various memory problems and directx or AMD driver problems. Then it seemed to start happening more and more often while I was gaming as well. I can be playing Fallout 4, GTA V etc fine for 10 or 20 minutes. Good FPS (for my setup) no freezing or artifacts, then A BSOD. Same with youtube videos. It plays fine for 10 or 20 minutes, no problems, then BSOD or at the least CTD.

Never had this problem with this computer before in the 5 plus years I've had it. The only things I've added hardware wise in the last month or so is that I changed 2 x1gb sticks of ram for 2 x2gb sticks of ram. I was starting to have the problem with Youtube videos before I swapped these sticks tho. I've run memtest86+ for almost 3 hrs and passed the full test with no errors. I also ran windows memory diagnostic with no errors. I've also let prime95 run for half an hour then the Intel burn test run it's 10 passes at standard stress rate...no problem

I also have a new logitech g100s mouse and I installed the software for it. I got this mouse almost a month ago though and the problems just started in the last 3 or 4 days. I tried uninstalling the driver and software for it tho and am just using the microsoft driver now. It actually BSOD'd in the middle of the software uninstall today tho? After I did that, then did a clean reinstall of my AMD card drive... Read more

Hello, I am posting here as a last resort. I have not been able to figure out why I am getting periodic DPC watchdog errors on my PC. During Youtube video playback, it tends to have artifacts and stuttering at any resolution, but it plays fine for a random amount of time before crashing with the afforementioned BSOD. My computer worked fine for two months, and the only hardware change I made before the crashes started was to install custom watercooling. However, I have googled around and seen that this is a driver issue, not a hardware one, which I have now tried to solve with no luck. I have contacted Nvidia support and their solutions have not worked either. I have tried:
Re-installing Nvidia drivers with DDU in safe mode, various versions, only GPU and PhysX, no HD Audio drivers, but none work, although some did give me less artifacting during video playback.Re-installed Windows 10, formatted disk and everything. no change. If it changes anything, I boot from a m.2 SSD.Re-installed various drivers, AMD chipset, Realtek LAN etc., upgraded to the newest versions. No luck. Although the Nvidia support guy did tell me to downgrade rtwlane.sys, a Realtek wireless driver, to a 2016 (earlier) version, Realtek's website only has the latest version, and Device Manager does not recognize an earlier version downloaded from Softpedia as being there to install, even if I choose manually and it's sitting in the Downloads folder.Reset all overclocks on CPU and RAM, I had none on GPU ori... The last message I got included a mouse pointer visible on the screen and referenced "hardware" in the message. I believe that the previous two BSODs were 0x7e and I think the last one was 0x124 although I'm not sure. Have debugged and found one of them to have been caused by hal.dll and this was with the videos on full screen. Have tried testing the RAM and CPU. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/3...KRKqOxqu3HmvNK

Answer:Three BSODs playing YouTube videos in Maxthon, hal.dll, drivers and hw

Hi Kiko4564 welcome to SF .

The bugchecks are not very recent so they don't portray the very current condition of the system.
Attachment 302184

What I feel the need to debunk is the myth that ntoskrnl or hal.dll are the source of
the crashes which they are definitely not. They are often being blamed for the problems
caused by a different culprit because they are such centric components of Windows
(to put the simplest way possible).

Now the latest bugcheck is a 0x124 which is a hardware fault so I would like you to run some tests.

Hey guys.

I've got this problem here: Whenever I play a youtube video in fullscreen, there's a good chance my internet connection will just stop, and I have to restart to fix it.

Some info:
- It happens only with Chrome, not with IE or Firefox.
- It happens on any WiFi and LAN network I've used, since it started a month or two ago.
- It doesn't happen in other websites, just youtube. It runs fine if it's an embedded youtube video in another website.
- I've scanned for malware.
- There's no problem if I'm watching videos not in fullscreen
- I've tried changing the setting in youtube to automatically change the resolution based on player's size. I've tried it also on different resolutions, but if it's fullscreen, the problem can occur with any resolution.
- I tried to switch to HTML5 in youtube's settings but it didn't help.
- I tried stopping the antivirus and firewall, but the problem still occurs.
- I tried clearing the cookies and cache.
- I tried reinstalling Chrome even with a cleaning program; no success (It's the latest version – 21.0.1180.89 m)
- It happens on different Chrome/youtube accounts.
- It happens in incognito mode (with all extensions off)

Could you help me out here? It's very annoying to have to use another browser just for watching some videos.

Regards,
Pavel

Anyone notice on youtube if playing a video that the sound will sometimes continue to play despite navigating off the page (such as clicking a site pinned in the favourites bar whilst video is playing). Seems to be only youtube vids, and only IE11 (other browsers not showing this). Doesn't happen all the time and tends to be only when doing it quickly after the start of a video. So if I let it run a few seconds then the problem doesn't occur.

Whilst on subject of IE11, anyone use Skysports.com. Am seeing long running script error on this site on both our win 10 machines using IE11. Again only this site it seems, and only this browser!

Answer:IE11 Youtube videos sound continuing despite vid no longer playing

Yes, I get that too (just IE, just YouTube). It seems to continue playing everything it has got in the buffer, even though you have navigated away. Closing the tab seems to end it. I have developed the habit of pausing playback before navigating away.

Seems to have started a couple of updates ago.

Hi,

I have a Dell S2415h monitor which comes with built in speakers in the monitor. I also have set the turn off monitor at 5 mins, and sleep at 15 mins. My problem is that when I view youtube videos more than 5 mins, the screen will turn off along with the built in speakers. Is there a way to prevent the screen and speakers from turning off for specific software? Next time I open a long youtube video, I don't want to move the mouse just to keep the PC awake.

Thanks

Hello Folks, I have an random system freeze when playing videos and the sound goes to static gibberish noise.time varies between start of video and freeze.  System is completely locked for anywhere from 10 sec to 3-4 mins and then continues on with video like nothing happened, except skipping 2-3 sec of the video/song. The B560 laptop is a little over 1 year old from Best Buy. 1 month ago the WD drive died. Installed new, reinstalled Win7-32, went to Lenovo site and applied latest drivers.  The problem now occurs since this rebuild. I ran Lenovo system check and all appears to be in working order.I would appreciate any info or suggestions on how to proceed with troubleshooting.Thank you .. -doug

Hi doug have you tried  checking  your Video card? Your sound  settings? sounds like a driver  conflict issue. Have  you checked if problem exists in Safe mode? Done any troubleshooting,Control Panel>Hardware and sound>Sound and/or Realtek HD Audio Manager, checked the settings there? And is your systems B?OS the latest available? Please give details as to what you have done. Have you also recently installed and or updated any program that  could possibly have caused this? Like VLC media player perhaps?

Hi All,
Hoping to ask for help with frequent BSOD while playing games.
When playing games (Elite Dangerous or Civ5) and playing Youtube, I will eventually receive a BSOD screen (I've posted an upload of those files in the link below). I've gone through the following trouble-shooting:

Watched the temperature: it's remained around the 20-30 C range with the CPU at the lower end and the graphics card on the upper-endUpdated drivers: ran windows updates, MSI's updates, etc.Ran MemTest86+ which I had seen as a recommendation in a forum to diagnose faults with RAM. All 12 gigs passed with no issuesRe-installed a clean version of Windows 10 and performed the driver updates to get the latest and greatestUnplugged all USB cables with the exception of the mouse and keyboard (removed my USB hub, joystick, etc.)Installed my old graphics card an HIS 7850
No BSODs but games tend to crash, I'm unsure if I'm being to aggressive with the graphics settings or if it's a symptom of another issueLink to card: http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-714.shtml

I assume that this is a driver issue with the video card, given the above. If this is correct, is there any way of saying whether it's a faulty video card or user-error?

edit: removed link to DMP files.

Answer:BSOD while playing games (E:D & Civ 5) or Youtube

In case someone finds this later in the search for answers....

I have a Samsung SSD drive that had not been updated in some time. After performing the update I was able to play for an hour and no BSODs. Will continue to test but this appears to have been the resolution.

Hi, I'm running Windows 8, and whenever I play a video file I can put it full screen and watch it, but if I move the mouse the videoplayer will crash, no matter what video player I use and I've tried many. I do have a few second at the start of playback to put the video full screen and move the mouse around without consequence.

The problem less on non-HD video's, and streaming through YouTube etc plays fine.

This is an infuriating problem, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Answer:Playing videos causes crashes :(

Would help to specify which player you use.

I'm sure mean windows 8.1 but if you are still on 8 upgrade to the latest version. First came the upgrade to 8.1 which is available in the Windows Store and there has been a further update since which is available through the Windows update for computers running 8.1.
