Loud static noise from speakers

Question: Loud static noise from speakers

This problem just started about 20 minutes ago, for no reason at all my laptop started making this noise. At first it was intermitten static, almost like static beeping, but then it became steady. I restarted my laptop, but it started up again once I turned it back on. I also heard it through my headphones but I unplugged them and now it's just from the speakers again. It starts as soon as I play audio, and stops about 30 seconds after I stop playing audio. I don't know what to do.

Preferred Solution: Loud static noise from speakers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last night I had some friends help me, we tried updating my Realtek driver, restoring my laptop, and finally updating my graphics driver I went to this website and selected the automatically detect option. However, after installing the driver my laptop now freezes on the hp loading screen.

I had to completely reset it from the menu you get when you press esc while booting it up. While that did allow me to use my laptop again, the static noise is still there.

I would really appreciate anyone with any idea how to fix this.

I have a Dell Inspiron 7778.
When I have my external speakers plugged in to my laptop I am able to play videos and it sounds great.
When I pause the videos for more than a few seconds my speakers start emitting a loud, static-like noise that doesn't stop until I resume the video.
This sound is very annoying.
Can you please help me fix the problem?

Question: loud static noise!

My computer is constantly making a loud static/rushing/electronic interference noise, all the time apart from when I play a CD using the Windows CD player - but if I try and play a CD using Windows Media Player I still get the noise, and the CD volume is so quiet you cannot hear it over the interference!

Any suggestions? I have a USB broadband modem and the problem started shortly after I installed this. I only have integral sound that came with the motherboard, I don't have a soundcard.

Any help welcome!

Hi everyone, I hope i'm posting in the right place. I joined this forum because i need some help. Less then a week ago i purchased a new sony laptop model number sve151a11w. My problem is almost every time i play a game (i only have dawn of war 2 + expansions and minecraft at the moment) after a couple of minutes of playing there will be a loud static sound from the speakers then the computer will freeze, the only way to unfreeze it is to hold down the power button until it shuts down. Ctrl + Alt + Delete doesn't work, the windows button doesn't work and i'm starting to get worried about shutting my computer off like this all the time.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers, Ben.

Hi. My Toshiba laptop has been randomly crashing/freezing with colorful static on the monitor and loud static noise from the speakers (usually if I'm on youtube). This has been happening on and off for months. Sometimes it just crashes to a black screen and restarts but often it does the dramatic crashing. I don't have a good connection to go downloading troubleshooting stuff and I have no idea if its the battery, the video card, a virus (because rarely on boot-up the microsoft security essentials is turned off or malwarebytes has an error about root-kits that doesn't come up again when its restarted), or what. I don't know what to google to even start finding answers to this problem and I need help.

I recently got new headphones (Bose QuietComfort3) and they work fine with an ipod and one of my computers. However, with my other computer, I get a loud, constant static noise coming out of them. The noise starts around half-way through booting up Windows and doesn't stop until the computer shuts off. My old headphones work fine with the computer (they are very cheap headphones though) and my speakers work fine. These new headphones also play sounds fine, but the static sound drowns everything out. My soundcard is a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit.

Things I've tried:
1. Updating the soundcard drivers.
2. Disabling the soundcard.
3. Making sure there were no loose connections in my case.
4. Cleaned out my case.

Thanks for any help.

Im trying to play a video in Windows media player but with any video all i hear is a really loud static noise, ive tried playing the exact same files in Windows movie maker and the sound works just fine so i know the files are ok.
Ive also tried playing them in DivX and i'm getting the exact same ear popping static noise so the only thing that seems to be able to play them with the correct audio is Movie Maker.
The video file is .AVI but ive also tried .MKV with the exact same results, i know my Windows media player used to work fine so i have no clue whats messed up, Any help would be much appreciated!

When some sound is playing (game, video) every 30 seconds there is some "static" noise. It sounds as looking up different stations on a old radio.

I don't know if this is hardware or software problem. No new hardware is added. I dont have any other loudspeakers to test.

A while ago I had this problem as well but somehow it disappeared. the noise is more often when surfing on internet or only navigating in windows.

I re-installed Win 7 Pro 32 bit from a USB device (I have the product key) after being unable to prevent further BSOD occurrences. User errors were the cause of the failed first 2 attempts of the re-install, but the third time proved to be a charm. No more blue screens, but ...

1) My CPU now sounds like a jet as it roars down the runway. This especially while playing games on FB with Chrome as my browser.

2) After the re-install there were more than 150 updates. Normal? I installed the IMPORTANT ones -- there were 102. (BTW, post re-install I did Updates first and then Drivers. Hope that was correct.)

3) There is a crackling noise emanating from the built-in speakers, even when muted. The static cannot be heard when the head phones are used. The noise is still present, but only the expected audio comes thorough the wires. Also, I don't recognize the sound driver. I am pretty sure it's not the same, but not certain. Can't confirm either way as I erased the backups. Sorry about that.

4) When I ran sfc /scan now, it took forever and the marathon yielded many, many corrupt files. Some files were reparable and others not. Some of the errant files were Chinese Dictionary files. It surprised me, too. Unfortunately I do not have that log.

I really need some help with this. I am going on 24 hours with no sleep and can't see myself soundly sleeping until this is solved. I have no idea how to solve it. Another re-install?

I should mention that the hard-drive capa... Read more

Hello and welcome John mate the roaring CPU would be a heat problem at a rough guess if yo cannot get the temps up with Speccy try this Core Temp

A chkdsk is probably an idea to run as well
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

The updates mate yes fairly standard for a fresh install. That the sfc took so long and yealded what it did I would reinstall again and try this

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 make sure of the language and that the version is the one you have the code for and that it doesn't have "old" or a large "N" alongside it.

You really should think about some more RAM too mate and I guess the hard drive could be best dealt with a test try SeaTools for Windows | Seagate

or a surface test with Partition Wizard Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition. see my pic

My speakers are making an extra crachkling/static noise. The problem is constant when the computer is trying to make sound including the start up windows sound, and other default windows noises like error msg chirops and beeps. The static goes away if no noise is being produced. I have a C-Media 6501 Like WDM sound card with up to date drivers it is integrated into my Asus AMD Athlon 64x2 Duel Core processor 5400+ with 2gb DDR Ram. The weird thing is that the static only occurs on the front right and front left of my 5.1 surround sound speaker set up and does not go away when I change between digital and analog modes or when I change between 2, 4, 6, or 8 channel set ups, also if I play music it can be heard "under/behind" the static noise at higher volumes thought the volume of the static is constant at all volume levels. I have switched which speakers are plugged in where, (i.e. switching the rear left and front left speakers to see if it changes) and the static does not change with the speaker, it?s the front left and front right no matter what speakers I have plugged into those positions. Also, I have noticed that my center speaker does not seem to make any noise at all, and that before this problem began to occur I would get similar static when I plugged in my Logitech webcam or other USB devices but would stop after I unplugged them and rebooted.

I am also baffled because to the best of my knowledge no hardware of software changes occurred. The soun... Read more

Hi,
First of all thank you for taking the time to read/answer question

Now, on to the problem/question.

For the past 6 months or so I have a crackling/static noise coming from my speakers (confirmed is not due to my speakers because when I connect my headphones, the crackling is now heard on the headphones instead). The sound is very loud during the first 30 minutes or so when the computer is turned on and goes down a bit after 2 hours or so (sometimes the sound stops all together after 4 hours +). I haven't change the position of the computer, nor bought any new hardware which might be causing static/interference. Furthermore, I downloaded the latest sound card drivers just to make sure.

This problem is truly driving me nuts and is preventing me from listening to music, videos etc.

Anyone knows whats going on?

Thank you, looking forward to reply.

Answer:Static/Crackle Noise - Not Speakers

Sounds, like it's picking up noise from the HardDrive
If it's a PC, consider taking it apart and removing all internal dust
If it's an addon card, consider mounting it in another PCI slot
There are too many more ifs, without your system specs, it's very difficult.

Please put your System Specs information in your Profile

well i got windows 7 2 days ago and since then ive been getting this loud obnoxious static all the time. i got the newest realtek drivers but that didnt seem to fix the problem. this noise wasnt in windows XP anyone know whats wrong?

Answer:Static Noise from speakers/headphones

Bump...

I got the exact same problem, i've just installed Windows 7 and drivers seems to be up to date.

These sudden bursts of noise usually comes when running multiple programs like skype + different games. It might occur twice a day.
The thing is that these bursts of noise cracks my cornea faster than i can throw my headset away. They usually last until i've closed the game / the browser(youtube) and refreshed it and then everything works properly.
I've noticed that turning the volume up or down on youtube when i get the white noise, does not affect the volume of the cracking noise.

Im looking forward for a fix.

BTW im running windows 7 32bit (Didnt have any of these problems with vista or XP)

When the computer is loading something, when I move the mouse, when ever I open a window, etc... the speakers make a humming sound like white noise static and it is very annoying.

I have reinstalled the drivers, and between the time of this starting and now this machine has even been formatted. It still does it. What is going on? It is very irritating!

Speakers are Acer speakers (model number: K2-B)

They are not wireless speakers, but whenever a phone call comes in on my cell when it is near me, they go wild with static.

When I move the mouse it has a lot of static, too.

It isn't loud static, but it is definitely there. And it is annoying.

Hey, I've got an issue with my brand new HP Pavilion notebook. There's a constant static noise coming from the speaker area (though I'm not 100% sure the speakers are the problem). It's really irritating. I've read that other people had the same issue and managed to solve it by reinstalling Realtek Audio driver but I've tried that twice now and it doesn't improve the situation at all. Even when there's no audio driver installed at all I get the static noise. When I plug in speakers the noise continues (not in the speakers but on the device). If it really is coming from the speakers (which I kind of doubt) it's mainly the right one. In general, the noise seems to be coming from the top right corner. On top of this, when I'm playing videos (even just youtube videos and even if it's just for a few seconds) there's a clicking noise. Any advice on what to do? My product number is X7G62EA#ABU and I'm running Windows 10 (64-bit).Can anyone help please? Best wishesJudith

-As far as I'm aware, there isn't any program that try to play any sound in the background.-The static noise continues when another sound is played.-The noise first appears after a while from when Dell logo appears, close to the sign-in part of windows 10.-The noise stops as I plug in a headphone (i.e probably when the speakers are deactivated).- As far as I’m aware, all the updates from Dell website is done, and no other update from any other source is done.- I don’t know if it is related, but the issue started off after the day where my laptop was in the bathroom for a while (~ 10 mins).Unfortunately I can't get a new unit as I bought the laptop from another country that I don't live in.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Forgot to mention that muting the sound and/or choosing the sound level to be 0 doesn't stop the noise. Also I feel like the speakers are hotter compared to other parts of the laptop. Should I not use it without headphones plugged in?
Edit 2: After I plug in headphones, the noise stops AFTER I select "Headphones" and press OK in auto-popping Dell Audio program.
Edit 3:
I re-installed the audio driver, problem went away.
After a day it started again.
I re-installed it again, problem is gone again.Hmm..

Answer:Static noise from speakers (DELL i7559)

Without knowing what happened in the bathroom (and its none of my business lol) it could be steam damage if you were taking a shower or bath or it could be a coincidence too.  Regardless it sounds like the speaker wires are damaged somehow or not properly shielded.
I would engage a warranty transfer from the country you bought it to the new one you are in by clicking the link here and filling out the form.  It can take a week or two so be patient, and that way you can request warranty work on your laptop.  I will state however that if they find it is water damaged and you do not have accidental damage coverage you will be out of luck.

When I insert the plug it appears the female part of the soundcard is either loose or shorting out.  Most times I receive a hum through the speakers, breakup of deep base and general irritating passages on my favorite music.  I do not game.  I listen to music as I work.  Do I need to replace the card or can i repair the card.

Hi, I received my HP Envy 17t Touch Best Value Laptop (Product #: Y7C72AV) a few weeks ago and noticed that there is a static/crackling sound regularly on both the laptop speakers and headphones (I tried two separate pairs of headphones and the static occurs on both). The static just lasts a fraction of a second, but it comes back several times per minute, which is distracting. I tried updating the audio drivers, but this didn't fix the problem. Thanks for your time and insight.

I put my headphones in the jack today and heard a weird background noise. When I removed them, the computer speakers were making a loud buzzing noise as well.  The buzzing noise comes and goes and disappears if I mute the computer's volume.  I cannot hear any audio on my computer now (no music, videos, noise at start up/shut down, etc.). I have tried updating the sound drivers and restarting the computer several times, but to no avail.  I have also tried to get sound with and without external speakers attached, with and without headphones in, etc. and I can only occassionally get the loud buzzing noise which is coming directly from both of the speaker vents on the bottom of the computer.  Thoughts on a solution?

Hi,

I've been having the above problem for a while now. It occurs randomly and unpredictably, having just now had my first crash in over a week. The PC becomes unresponsive and requires a hard reset via the power switch. Temperatures are fine - The CPU rarely exceeds 45°C, and the GPU appears to plateau at around 70°C. There are never any bluescreens, and as far as I can see, the only errors in event viewer are standard kernel power errors.

I have tried:

-Fresh install of video drivers

-Fresh install of sound drivers

-BIOS update

-Chipset update

-Removal of third party sound drivers entirely

-Several passes of memtest86

-Several hours of furmark stress testing

Any help would be amazing. Thanks in advance for your time.

When I start up my laptop from cold, there's this ridiculously loud squealing, siren-like noise coming from the speakers that seems to slowly disappear right as I get to the log-in screen. It'll usually be gone after I've logged in. It's not a constant sound, but one that fluctuates. I know for a fact it comes from the speakers because I can shut off the sound with the mute button. So please do not ask me if it may be coming from a fan or HDD. I want to know what possible solutions I can try. I've had the laptop for a little more than a few years now and do game on it.

Hi, I have installed RenderMonkey from AMD on my PC,Whenever i launch the preview, the speakers starts buzzing and it's very annoying. Much louder than noises i have been hearing (see my previous post). The CPU usage is almost null, and the laptop isn't hot at all. Also, you can hear different flavors of the noise when changing my power plan. It seems that some of the noise come strictly from the GPU. Do you have any idea ? Thank you.

Hello all,

I've been having this problem for a long time now (2 years) and no matter what I do I can't get rid of it.

My PC will freeze and make very loud buzzing noises a few times a day, even when left idle in the middle of the night it will sometimes wake me up with the buzzing sounds coming out of my headphones.

I'm clueless at this point as for what to do,I replaced my Motherboard,my network adatper, I disabled my sound card, played around with the BIOS settings and nothing works.

There is one way which seems to consistently recreate the freeze & buzzing sound and thats only when I run low graphic games and let me explain:

I can play heavy 3D games with demanding graphics and the PC wont freeze (Actually don't think it ever froze while I was playing a 3D game) however It will freeze after less than 10 minutes if I play a low demanding game like Stardew Valley,League of legends or even when the PC is just Idle or while listening to music on youtube.

I ran Memtest86 and Prime95 and didn't find any errors and the event viewer errors seem to just say its Error 41 which is an unexpected shutdown.

I would really be greatful if someone can help me solve this annoying problem for once and for all,I've been living with it for so long,it makes me paranoid when I'm gonna hear it while listening to music (the sound gets you jumped every time..)

Hi,
My computer keeps shutting down (crashing with no blue screen of Death) randomly sometimes I can switch it on and it is a few minutes before it does it or it can be a few hours before it does it .... Before it shuts down (like I've pulled the plug out of the back) it makes a static crackling noise through the speakers then just switches off then it makes what I can only describe as a heartbeat through the speakers and the 3 keyboard lights flash (Num Lock/Caps Lock/Scroll Lock) in sync with this noise as well as what I think is the disc drive spinning up then down again in sync with the flashing.
I have checked the registry for errors I have done multiple scans for viruses/malware/spyware as well as checking all the hardware components are working correctly. All the inside of the computer is clean and dust free and the temperatures are fine. I have made sure all the drivers are up to date the Event Log shows nothing except the computer shut down unexpectedly I don't know what to do now I hope you can help.

To assist others who probably will be able to help more than I can can you state what your operating system is. Have you downloaded any new programs recently or updated drivers? It could be the PSU creating problems.

I aready have read similar posts on HP but my issue seems a little Different. My Windows Sound Scheme is currently on (No Sounds). I have checked the System Notification again anyway, I did not do any changes to it and, I cant hear that weird clicking noise. I have just tested to play a video on youtube now, using my headphones, and I can head that clicking noise again, before it used to happen randomlly now, when I play a video or, something with sound. It seems to be coming from both the laptops speakers and, using when using headphones, in windows 8 and 10. Also, before and after uninstalling beats audio. I have also disabled all the microphones in the Recording section in Sound. I have also just noticed that, on my google chrome broswer, when I highlight a word/s and, do a Search Google ''words'' forexample, this clicking noise comes on. It does this randomly as I mentioned not only when Im on google chrome. I am not sure if this is relevent but, I've just noticed that the empty, CD/DVD drive spins only once but, always does this when i'm installing something. I can also feel an electric current when i put my hand on the side of the laptop, is this normal?

Hello,  I just received my Lenovo E570 after 3 months waiting and the sound is not working properly.  When audio is playing, there a constant static noise playing as well and it only stops a few second after the audio stops playing (sometimes it takes way longer). The only way to get rid of the static noise is to mute the sound. As soon as there is volume, the static sound is there, regarless of the volume's intensity.  I tried using a headset and eliminates the problem.  I already tried multiple system / drivers update, disabling various sound enhancing software and the likes.  Can I have some help? I really don't want to send the laptop back and wait another 3 months before I can use it... Thank you.

After connecting my Dell laptop to my mixer to start Djing I found when the laptop was plugged in at the mains a loud static noise came from dj set up speakers. After playing about with it for a while I found when it ran off the battery it was fine but as soon as I plugged the laptop in at the mains there it was again. So after speaking to Dell tech team today It turns out its a known problem with certain models which they apparently are trying to sort out. So after serching for a laptop for a while to dj from I bought a Dell Inspiron which known to the company has a problem with connecting up to another power sorce. Will they sort it soon & will they contact us? Who knows, all I know is I have new lap top that was sold to me with a problem. THANKS!

I have a big Acer 17" and a smaller hp laptop ..... BOTH do exactly the same thing .... The hp even does it when plugged into my 2.1 desktop speakers. I've managed to reduce it dramatically by messing around with volume levels on the pc, the program and the speakers themselves .... With the Acer .... (now get this .... it's weird) .... you can almost completly get rid of the noise when it's connected to my DJ cosole ......... by opening the e-mail program (don't ask me why) ..... After an hour or so, it comes back ... so I just close and re-open the e-mail program again .....It's the weirdest thing in the world .....Anyone have any ideas as why we're getting this interference ????Thanks, Garry :)

Answer:W530 external speakers have static noise on power

One possiblity is to try using a grounded work mat to provide a static-free work surface.

Some appliances, such as certain portable desktop fans or air purifiers, can produce negative ions. If a
computer is close to such an appliance, and is exposed for an extended time to air containing negative
ions, it might become electrostatically charged. Such a charge might be discharged through your hands
when you touch the keyboard or other parts of the computer, or through connectors on I/O devices
connected to it. Even though this kind of electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the opposite of a discharge from
your body or clothing to the computer, it poses the same risk of a computer malfunction.

Hello everybody, can someone help me with the following problem: I have a X230 (2320CTO) with Windows 8 running on it. I changed BIOS to UEFI only (no CSM) and reinstalled Windows. Since that change (I think!) I have static noise on the integrated speakers during boot. When I log on Windows it stops  but reappears short before playing a sound till short time after it ends. This happens with any application that plays sounds. When I use headphones/external speakers, the sound plays just on the headphones/externals but the noise is still on the integrated speakers! When I mute the sound via hotkey everything is silent!  Seems very strange to me, I hope someone has an idea... I tried the windows built in drivers, the drivers from realtek.com and the lenovodrivers (6.0.1.6710), the problem stays the same. Thanks everybody!

Hi, I bought Dell xps 13 9350 two weeks ago from Microsoft store. I read that I am not the only one who is having this issue.
I have no option going to dell tech support, because I live in Kyrgyzstan. Laptop was delivered to me from California by relatives.
Can you say what parts inside should be replaced or isolated, so I can go to local master and solve this issue. Thanks

Answer:Static noise from audio speakers - Dell XPS 13 9350

Hi ILIASKG,
We would need more info about the issue.
When does the static occur? What application are you using when the static occurs?  Is this issue while playing audio or video or both on the machine? Does this happen on both online and offline files - files from your HDD? Do the headphones work fine?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1SVquRD
Turn off the speaker enhancement and check -http://bit.ly/23gupYw
Run the audio test and headphone test in pccheckup - http://dell.to/21y9GPi
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Keep us updated.

I hope someone may be able to tell me how to fix the problem I'm having with my modem. My modem makes a loud humming static noise while dialing to get on the internet or to talk with someone and then disconnects and ends the call immediately after dialing. Sometimes there is no static noise while dialing and then the loud humming starts immediately after dialing and the telephone call terminates after about 30 seconds. On one call, I heard someone talking from the other end of the phone line but couldn't understand what they were saying because of the loud static.
I have an IBM Aptiva computer, with a windows95 operating system and an IBM Aptiva 28.8 mwave Data Fax modem which is located right on the mother board. I bought the computer new about 5 years ago.
I'm not too familiar with technical terminology, although I have looked in every part of my computer. I looked at a lot of things under system, modem, network neighborhood, program manager and communications, but everything looks normal. IBM notified me that they don't stock this modem any longer. I'm at a complete loss of any new ideas on how to fix this problem exept to try a new modem which I'm a little hesitant to buy until I'm sure the one I have is bad. Any help I can get woud be appreciated. Thank you.

On my brand new Inspiron 15 7559, I've noticed that there is a static "hissing" noise coming from the speakers whenever I do something that involves audio (playing a movie/game/etc).
The hissing noise is especially noticeable when I mute the volume in Windows.
As soon as I close the video/browser/game that the audio is coming from, the hissing stops as well.
The noise also stops when I plug in a pair of headphones.

I've tried the latest audio drivers, as well as the generic Windows audio drivers and the Realtek HD Audio drivers from Realtek's site, and the hissing noise happens with all of them. I have also updated my BIOS to the latest version

Has anyone else encountered this? I'm beginning to think it might be a hardware problem and I'm leaning towards returning the laptop.

Answer:Inspiron 15 7559 - Static "hissing" noise coming from speakers

Hello. I don't recall seeing other posts about this same issue with the 7559, although there have been plenty of complaints about a pop noise with it which seems to be related to power management. See the Choppy/Skipping Audio FAQ for tips on that problem, but your symptoms are not of that issue.
If you don't hear the static through headphones then it would seem to be a speaker issue. I think you are on the right track in leaning toward sending it back.

Greetings!

Lately I've been noticing a weird ticking/static like sound coming from my speakers. When I turn the volume higher, the ticking level also increases. Affected are my headphones as well, no matter if I use the headphone input on the speakers, or the front headphone input on my case, the result is the same. When I have both plugged in, headphones in front case and speakers, the noise occurs in sync. I also tried muting the sound in windows and seeing if there's possibly something causing static interference, was not the case, the speakers were silent.
What I also noticed was, when I turned the bass controller to max(a knob on the subwoofer) the subwoofer started reacting(I had no audio running on my pc) to the ticking noise, as in, trying to add bass to the ticking sound, it should have been quiet.

Speakers are 5.1 Logitech X-530.

What I tried to remedy the problem:
- Turned off everything close to my desk, so basically unplugged everything in my room except my pc(also used only necessary devices), also shut down my phone. No change.
- Removed any cables, cleaned the necessary parts, made sure no other cables were interfering. No change.

I've been thinking the problem either being my speakers failing gradually or the integrated sound card(or the input holes, not sure tho, never had a failing sound chip) on my motherboard failing. It can't be the speakers cause in that case the headphone input on my case wouldn't be affected right?

Not sure if anyone can help with this but recently, as in sometime in the last few days, my HTPC audio has gone spastic.
When trying to watch live tv or previously recorded tv (still in the media centre tv format) there is really load static over the top of the audio stream. When I say loud I mean take those warehouse clearance ads (Mr bankrupt for example) and multiply by 100. It has got to be the maximum audio output and I thought it was going to kill the tv speakers!
Watching video in any other form (AVI, MKV, h264, mpg) is fine and all other audio I have used (mostly mp3 or ogg) seems to work too.
PC info below;

CPU ? 3Ghtz Athlon 64 X2 6000+
MOBO ? Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H
RAM ? 4 GB DDR2 RAM
TV Tuner ? Compro E750F
OS ? Windows 7 (Media Centre 7)
Has anyone encountered this before or have suggestions?

Okay so I have installed WIndows 7 x64. After having HUGE Issues getting the proper sound drivers I had to resort to a fix that someone made for windows 7 and the soundblaster's (x-fi). When I'm either on skype or ventrilo I hear LOUD static when other people have their microphones queued (on skype this is all the time, ventrilo is hotkeyed) Even if their microphone is physically muted, when they queue their microphone i hear LOUD static. I have no other audio issues but I cannot solve this and its becoming frustrating.

The weird thing.. is that in games like Heroes of Newerth or Counterstrike Source I hear no static when people queue their microphones.

Any ideas :( ?

Answer:Windows 7. Loud Static on VOIPS. not in CSS?

Anyone? I managed to fix this error last night by installing the drivers on the creative site in combination with Daniel K's fix. the static was gone. I log on today and it's back. When someone has their mic muted I hear static, and when we're currently in a conversation i hear the static, the only thing that subdues it is when we begin to speak, it dissapears.

Also with my OWN mic now, when I hit "listen to this device" and unplug my mic attachment I hear the same static.

Hi,

I currently bought the Tt eSports Shock One headset:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826254008

The microphone emits a loud feedback. Using a program like mumble, the noise suppression feature allows the buzzing to be removed.

I am looking for driver/software that would allow me to put noise supression on the mic at a Windows 7 level, rather than a program level.

Thank you for your help.

Please move this to another subforum if this is the wrong place.

Hi everybody, I would like some help!

I recently bought a new fan to help with cooling as the summer approaches. My new fan replaces my old chassis fan but is plugged in slightly differently as it is plugged into the 3 pin mother board connector (the old one was plugged into the molex and is now positioned as an intake fan at the front).

My problem is that since I've installed the new fan my computer is actually louder than before, Everest tells me that the revs for the new fan are 5114 rpm as I type this so it's clearly working too hard. I think it's working too hard because my processor fan is only idling by comparison at 1705 rpm. Which temperature does the chassis fan use to control it's speed and why has my CPU fan suddenly become lazy since I installed the new fan? Is there anything I can do to make the CPU fan work harder and take some of the burden off of the chassis fan?

Many thanks for any help!

Hello,

I have reached out to Win10 "Contact Support" and they had me do a complete update to my OS. I thought I was in the clear because I had a couple days go by with no crashes, but now they're back. I continue to see these 2 entries in my event viewer and can't help but think it's part of the problem. So far I have not had any luck trying to troubleshoot it. I'm not sure what it is related to, but I would suggest to update the software/drivers or remove the related things.

I've tried the driver verifier but my PC can't boot after I make the selections in the utility. I have to go into safe mode and delete the verifier settings in order to get back to normal. Also, please see the attached dm_log file.

Here are the events:

Hi! Please bear with me ... I will not be using the correct terminology, but hope I explain myself OK all the same!
I have a DELL studio XPS PC With Windows 7. I used to have a DELL screen, with a speaker section attached, which belonged to my previous DELL. (Altec Lansing 5650 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers with Subwoofer set).
I ditched this due to the plastic attachments breaking, and the fact that I could only get sound from 2 of the speakers, not all 4, after changing my PC. I therefore thought it was an unnecessary amount of "hardware" kicking around my desk just for getting sound out of 2 speakers.
So, I bought Creative T15 Wireless (Bluetooth) speakers, although I use the wire directly into my PC due to not having Bluetooth. These worked fine to begin with - OK sound, so not complaining.
Now, I'm not sure whether this happened simultaneously with buying a New screen (a Samsung 24") but all of a sudden I started getting very scratchy noises coming from the left speaker. This noise comes even when unplugged from my computer. I contacted Creative who said that if the speakers work when attached to my ipod/iphone then there is nothing wrong with them:

Quote:
That means the speaker is good. If speaker is faulty, the issue will remain the same no matter as to what device you connect it. Issue seems to be with your computer sound card's audio out. Check the settings in your computer, playback application settings . Reinstall/update the compu... Read more

Answer:Bad scratchy noise from speakers, but speakers OK. No IDE ATA/ATAPI???

If I understand that statement, your speakers have the scratchy sound, even when unplugged from the computer. Does this happen if the monitor is powered off? (trying to determine if there is some radiation from the monitor that is affecting the speakers).

Question: Fan Noise too loud

Hello. Any suggestions on how I can easily cut down on my fan noise? It sounds like there is a lawn mower in here. Please tell me I can just buy a new fan for my processor... or maybe it's the PSU that's so loud. Thanks!

Answer:Fan Noise too loud

Google SpeedFan.

It allows you to vary the speed of your internal fans. Mess around with it til you get a stable, low temperature and desired noise output.

Or, you could just buy new fans.

Hi,

I recently upgraded the ram in my pc from 1.5gb to 2.5gb as it seemed to be getting pretty slow. I was expecting a pretty big jump in performance but it doesn't seem to have happened.

The pc can sometimes be faster than it was and sometimes it really drags. There is also an intermittent loud noise which i believe is coming from the fan and when this happens the pc is slow.

I took out the fan and cleaned all the dust from it but this noise still starts every couple of minutes and the pc becomes slow.

Any ideas?

Answer:Loud Noise from PC. Don't think it is the HDD

Two things to consider...
The amount of memory doesn't have much to do with speed unless some process can specifically use that extra memory. You can to more things well, but not necessarily more rapidly.

You system will utilize all memory at the speed of the slowest module. If you have some memory that is value ram or other inexpensive ram, the timings could be significantly different than the best brands and models.

Your system only uses what memory it needs, not what you want it to use. As long as the RAM meets the requirements of the motherboard, it will not protest.

If you want some programs to run at optimum performance levels, all memory must be identical. It is wise to buy matched sets of RAM from the same manufacturer at the same time to get the ultimate performance. Top memory is already sold in matched sets in the same plastic wrap. Otherwise, you have to look at the timings and other information posted on the package or the label.

Question: A Very Loud Noise

I was working in the computer area one night. Of four computers, I was using two, one had been shut down for the night, and the last had been left on, but was unused.Suddenly the room was filled with a very loud noise. We are talking quite loud, almost like a fire alarm - uncomfortably loud to the ears. My first thought was an alarm on the UPS. I checked it, and it was fine. Then I thought maybe a fan bearing gone bad on one of the computers. I shut down the one not being used. Nothing. So then in spite of losing work, I felt it urgent enough to immediately shut down the two computers I was using. Nothing. So my next thought was fans in the room. Shut them down - nothing. Then I thought maybe the lights. Nothing. So my final thing was to unplug the computer that was already shut off - Bingo! What a surprise. I wasn't sure if the noise was from the computer or from the surge protector it was plugged into, so I ran an extension cord across the room. It ran fine about 3 days and then the noise came again, not quite as loud this time, but still loud.So I am thinking power supply or motherboard. The frequency and texture of the sound is the same as the squeal you get from the computer when you disconnect the power and the electricity drains from the system, except that that sound is mildly soft, but it gives you an idea of the nature of the sound. So I'm thinking maybe the motherboard is alarming me about something, but why so loud? And why continuous and won't go of... Read more

Question: loud noise

I have a loud noise on PC or speakers after its been on a while and it comes on for short time every few minutes.. Its a noise that is hard to describe. Grand daughter says its a space sound, what ever that is.Its odd as when playing music its fine just comes on after pc has been on a bit. Also can't tell if its pc or speakers. Just got new monitor as mine worn out and was hoping it would go but hasn't, it started 3 weeks ago. I turn speakers right down to get away from it.

Answer:loud noise

Is it a beeping sound? If so, can you count the beeps and does the sound repeat itself or is it just now and then.

I recently started getting hearing a loud "buzzing" noise when I started my computer or it had to load certain larger programs. I opened up the computer to find which fan the noise was coming from and found no noise. The noise had stopped until just yesterday. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions.

I got a dell dimension c521 and I notice at random times it has a really loud fan noise. Sounds like an airplane is about to take off or something? It usually happens if im playen video games and what not. I was wondering if this a bad thing or if its normal, and if theres anything I can do to prevent it from getting so loud? Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Answer:Really loud fan noise?

The fan runs at full to extract the heat when playing. About the only thing that you can do is to open it up and clean out any dust that you can see.

I am running windows 7 on a Dell desktop computer. It has started making a very annoying and loud squealing noise. I have cleaned the dust from inside thinking it may be overheating. I also wiggled the boards to make sure all were seated good. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this and how to stop it? Thanks

Answer:Loud Squealing Noise

Try disconnecting any case fans one at a time and see if the noise stops.......if it does then you have a fan that is on it's way out......

Whenever i start up a game, a loud squeeky noise appears for no reason. I think its my video card but im just wondering if its something else. Does anyone know about this problem??

Answer:Weird loud noise????

It could be a fan, when you put more pressure on your graphics card it may well decide to turn up its 'im a little bastard' fan.

They can be quiet loud. They should be torn asunder and replaced with nice Coolermaster or Zalman things.

Frosty cool and quiet.

Sitting there as usual, looking at email, nothing out of the ordinary,

all of a sudden, from nowhere, LOUD whirring noise coming from CPU.

Never heard this before.

Rebooted---it's gone. Maybe this SSs help, I've never really been one to understand performance data. I've left the PC on for a week- usually shut it down nightly. Could it be the temp?

Answer:Loud whirring noise

Helllo Eknirb,

From looking at your top image from Task Manager, it looks like you had a spike in CPU usage there for a bit. That spike may have cause your built-in motherboard fan controllers to rev up the CPU fan to keep it cooler with the quick increase (spike) usage.

Monitor your CPU temps to make sure that they are not high or spiking on you as well to be safe. 45C as your showing in the last screenshot is ok. If they are high all the time, the CPU fan or heatsink may be loose, or you may need to clean and replace the thermal past on the CPU heatsink.

If the usage is spiking on you randomly, then you can look under the CPU bar in Resource Monitor to help see what is using so much of the CPU.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello,  My notebook has, as of recently become extremely loud when in games (even lesser demanding games such as Call of Duty World at War, making a noice comparable to a vaccum cleaner), and making noticable noise when on the desktop or on the internet (a shaking noise of sort). I have factory reset the PC, with no effect, before that updating the BIOS, also having no effect. Any suggestions on fixing this issue are valued! Thank you, Jacob.

Question: Loud buzzing noise

Hello!

I have a year-old Lenovo G500 laptop, and recently it started doing this loud, buzzing sound quite often, even when there's only one program opened. I checked CPU and disk usage the first few times it happened, but they're fairly low. I'm not really tech-savvy, so I'm not exactly sure if the sound is coming from a fan or is it HDD. I do know for sure that the fan isn't dusty, when I brought it to a tech shop they told me there's no need for a cleaning. I'm sorry if the question is stupid, but the frequent loud sound makes me worried and I can't be sure if it's just laptop's normal sound or not. Any help appreciated.

Answer:Loud buzzing noise

Can be coming from a fan, be first thought even if not dirty can be going bad, something is loose and rubbing on it, also can be power supply which also have fans and or the hard drive. Know which side hard drive is on on laptop. This is not coming from the speakers ? How is it when it is plugged in, does this only happen on a battery ?

I as far as I can remember have never had this loud noose before, but lately for a month or so? Ish? I've been having a series of loud noises from my pc, so loud that I can hear it even when playing BF3 with a headset! And so violent at times I can feel the keyboard vibrating lightly, and if I touch the PC it is vibrating decently softly.

I may be wrong but it seems it started after BF3, and thought it might be the fan or my PC really struggling with the game, but it does it even when I'm not playing.

It's sometimes just a softer sound, then will accelerate to a "burr, burr, burr" then go full auto into "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" occasionally very loud.

So here's the REALLY scary part: while playing Skyrim a very weird thing happened: it stopped. The sound of the game looped into a "drrrrrrrrrr" and I had to hold down the off button. Nothing else did anything. I rebooted and tested it again...sure enough: 30 seconds in I had to do the same thing. I gave it one last chance and decided I would try to discern if it did anything else notable, but the third time it was fine. I left the game open a while to see if it'd do it again, but it didn't.

So I'm scared. WTH is wrong with my PC? BTW it is kinda low on disc space...if that matters. Also the disc options are gone when I click on documents under the c\ drive and stuff...then again I had installed virtual drives...I dunno

Answer:Very loud and scary noise from my PC.

It's a windows 7 64bit 3.2 ghz i5? Or quad core. GT230 graphics card. And I "it stopped" I meant my pc. Not the noise. The monitor just started going as if it were preparing for screen saver mode.

What happened to me one is that the CPU fan's mounting came loose and was not stable. Check to see if everything looks secure on it.

There is a loud and griding kind of noise while i use my laptop. It is so annoying and it keeps on vibrating the laptop too.My laptop model number is HP ENVY M6 1215TX .I have been using it for the past 3 years now and there has been no heating issues or fan issues. Please tell me what to do.Should i get the fan  replaced or laptop serviced? And around what will it cost me if i go for the replacement of the fan? (My laptop is not covered in warranty)

Answer:Loud fan noise and vibration

Well the problem is unquestionably the fan. The replacement process is shown on p. 73 of the Manual here: Manual Where do you live (country)? I ask because I am not familiar with what service technicians charge for this kind of work in every country. In the US I can tell you the part would be maybe $15-20US and the labor would be $80-150. If you have some skills at following a manual and maybe a video it is something you can do yourself.  http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-CPU-Cooling-Fan-for-HP-Pavilion-M6-M6T-M6-1000-m6-1002xx-m6-1035dx-m6-/11... We are happy to help as much as possible.

Hello, So this started happening when I was moving the laptop one day (when it was on) the fan suddenly got very loud and the whole laptop was vibrating, it sounded like the fan was touching something while it spins which made the vibrating and loud noise, it sounds exactly like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkCLubSukzI I fixed it by restarting the laptop (sleep works too, seems like whatever makes the fan stop) but now it randomly happens, the normal noise of the fan has changed and it sometimes gets that loud again as showed in the video and then I have to restart to fix it. I've tried to open the laptop but some screws were too hard and stuck lol so I gave up. and I've cleaned the vents from dust.

Hi! I purchased Yoga 900 (part number 90UE002VUS) - 16GB Memory with 512 GB SSD. I hear the fan running loud and continuously even after closing all the applications. Is this normal? I thought SSD's are supposed to be ultra quiet, but this unit has an i7 processor, so maybe it's the processor that's forcing the fan to stay on. However the only application that I've set to run in the background is Sophos Anti-Virus. But even with that app turned off, I hear the fan come on very frequently and stay on with a loud noise for extended periods of time.I wonder whether I have a defective unit and need to get it replaced. If others have experienced this problem and found a solution, I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks

Question: Realtek loud noise

Hello,

I have Realtek Microphone in Recording settings of sound and Realtek Digital Output in Playback.

I did not make any updates for my Windows 10 64-bit for last few weeks or changes in settings, and this problem stats when I start my computer today.

I tried to use Skype, but it turned out that my microphone stopped working, my voice is not heard. Then I tried to record voice with sound forge and same here, it should be noted that I do not get just an empty track with zero sound, record just does not happen. It is different things. But most horrible thing I got now is a very loud noise which almost hurts your ears. Noise occurs if I'm trying record something, answer to the skype, and also I got some low clicking sound of very loud short sound each time I'm trying to on video or audio, or switch it with timeline.

I've updated all drivers in Device Manager:

Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)

and it says the best driver software for your device is already installed.

So I have no idea what to do. Can't get if it is system problem or something wrong with hardware.
