X201 Tablet Windows 10 Tablet buttons not working

Question: X201 Tablet Windows 10 Tablet buttons not working

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen. Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work. This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC. I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey all, I have a weird problem.  My tablet buttons have stopped working-- but only in tablet mode.  That is, I can't rotate, or bring up the tablet shortcuts, or move around the screen in tablet mode.  Also autorotate doesn't work.  But if I switch out of tablet mode, I can do all of these things just fine (except for autorotate). Also, when I switch into tablet mode the screen doesnt rotate or anything, but when I switch out of tablet mode the screen rotates to the direction I defined in the settings (sometimes.. to be honest it seems pretty random to me).  I am running 32 bit vista w/ 4 gb ram on an x61 tablet with the latest drivers.  I have uninstalled the tablet button drivers and the lenovo system interface and reinstalled them already.. I have the latest APS. Help me out here.. I have no idea why this isn't working!  Don't make me have to reinstall vista to get the buttons working.. Tha'ts ridiculous!!  Arrrgh.

Answer:Tablet buttons stop working in tablet mode only

You have to get into Tablet shortcut menu setting and do it all first. For the rest, uninstalled all ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver, ThinkPad Tablet shortcut menu then restar and reinstall vis System Update. Just let it find for you; that's the only thing I could recommend for this case.

Hello, I just bought a new x201T,  and I have a problem to configure the first button's function. Until today after updating to Windows 8 the touchscreen of my notebook didn't work anymore. To solve this issue, one can go to http://www.wacom.eu/then navigate to Support / Drivers then choose Windows 7 / Tablet PCand download the driver Multilingual isd701-8_int.exeDownload(17,29 MB   02.11.2010 13:51:45) and extract the exe file it with winrar.  Then go to the windows device manager and select the "Unknown device" .Update the driver and select the extracted folder of the driver on your hdd.  After that the touchscreen will work again.my hardware is the following: X201 Tablet  / 2985EZG / Serial Nr. R94XV34 / Bios: 6QET45WW (1.15 ) thanks to http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/147091-Windows-8-Pro-auf-dem-x201t

May I ask you two questions?

1) Could you post your machine type number? Is a 7 digit code that can be found on the bottom of the laptop, a black & white sticker. Please do not post the S/N number!

2) Where did you get the drivers downloaded from?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello. We've got an unusual problem when applying driverpackage for lenovo x201.OSD with SCCM 2007.. The Audio driver installs successfully during OSD (with silent install switch) and in devicemanager we can see that the conexant 20585 Smart Audio HD driver has been installed. Same with "Intel screen audio". But in the Audio options in controlpanel all the fields is grayed out. There is with other words no associated soundcard / standard device. If we install the driver again, logged in as an user the recently grayed out fields in Audio options automagically now shows the correct input / output devices (Conexant audio) and the sound starts working. Is there some issue when installing drivers in SYSTEM context?Notice: There is no "?" in device manager. BR!

Hey Zebra, I recently had an rtfm moment with this issue.  I had installed and reinstalled the Tablet Button Drivers... or so I thought.   Checkout the readme for the driver.  After you double click the .exe, it looks as if it installs, but all that does is extract the files to a folder on the HD.   Probably here C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TBBTN unless you changed it.  Go there and click setup.exe.... you'll have to reboot when it is done.  HTH

I'm new to the Tablet community but excited to venture into it.  My workplace provided me with an X201 Tablet type 2985 model C5U.  The pen works great but I can emulate any of the finger/touch demos.  Is this not supported with my type or model?  Or do I need a special driver.  When I open the tablet PC settings, I'm given the option to identify my screen as PEN or TOUCH.  While I select TOUCH, no finger combination (one or two) that presses my screen will invoke anything.  I was hoping this would be a touch solutoin albeit more powerful than the iPad.  Appreciate your responses everyone. Thank you. L

[UPDATE]ahahahahhahaI just found the solution xD It's so **bleep** stupid that it makes me feel stupid! All you need to do is to open the driver folder (default directory "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UNAVUTIL") then right click on "wstbtnib.inf" and press Install and restart. That's it! It looks like the setup can't do it by it self under windows 8.I can't believe nobody never tried it! I saw guides on guides about remapping and stuff. They just work now! (I restarted multiple times and played with it a little, all works). I tried with 2 different installations and it worked for both. Can someone confirm this on another thinkpad? My model is the one with no touch and hi res ips screen!Thx for all (witch is not much xD)    [OLD]Hi guys!I need help, I'm getting crazy here. The funny thing is that when I tried to install win8 on the old hhd win7 installation they worked! But when I tried again win7->win8 they didn't. So it might be something that the new installation missed. Is there a way to make the driver work properly? And most of all, is it a driver issue or is the utility program that translate the buttons? Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I  put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

Some time in the last month, the tablet function of my X201 Tablet PC conked out.  I'm running Windows 7 (32 bit).  Perhaps there was something wrong with some driver update that was installed either through Windows Update or through the Lenovo Thinkvantage stuff.  I never managed to figure out what was wrong.  I tried installing various updates and drivers from both those sources, and from Wacom, without success.  I couldn't find any thread on the internet that discussed exactly this problem or suggested a solution.  It was a frustrating week! I seem to have solved the problem, though.  Through Control Panel -> Uninstall programs I found and uninstalled everything from Wacom, and all of the "Ultranav" driver stuff from Lenovo.  Altogether there were 6 or so things that I uninstalled.  Then I reinstalled Wacom's tablet driver (ISD Tablet, version 7.1.0-8), and then pen's back, and, indeed, working better than it ever has (the alignment calibration has been terrible since I bought the machine).  I haven't reinstalled the Ultranav drivers, and will probably refrain from doing so. I hope this helps the next frustrated Lenovo tablet user.

The learning curve on this machine is steep if you want to take advantage of all the input options but I've put the time in and I'm starting to love it. There is one thing I wish Lenovo would address though. I see plenty of ThinkPad users with this problem going back to at least 2008, and no solutions forthcoming. The manual states: "On the display bezel near the screen is a row of buttons with which you can control your computer in the tablet mode, without the use of the keyboard."By default the buttons are set to turn your computer off, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, or rotate the screen 90 degrees. The manual goes on to describe how you can customize these buttons via the Tablet Shorcut Menu, which is accessed via Start > Programs > Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools > Tablet Utility. If you open this program you get a dialog box titled "Auto Screen Rotation Settings." This dialog controls what orientation the screen should switch to when you convert into tablet. So it really doesn't have anything to do with the buttons. The only dialog that allows any assignment of the tablet buttons is Windows Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings. Here the Buttons tab is supposed to list the actual buttons on the front panel and let you assign them, but the only one shown is the Screen Rotation button. This works fine, you can set the button's function for a single press and a long press. (Too bad it's not possible to use Shift by itself, but that is as-designed by MS.)It should go without sayi... I have not been able to use the touch screen functions for about a month now.  When you use your finger to select something on the screen it goes to the desktop and will not select the item you touched.  The only way the touch screen works is with the pen.  Also the screen will not rotate when you flip the screen into tablet mode.  I check for any new updates but the system is up to date.  This is driving me crazy as I need to have the touch screen working right for my business programs the are installed.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would have any idea why my multitouch features stopped working after my system resumes from sleep/hibernation. It basically doesn't detect any multitouch feature but still detects the pen feature (although for the pen, the mouse cursor changes back to the traditional arrowhead rather than the dot that I'm used to). I'm not sure if this is that important but I never had a problem prior to this: I recently swapped out my HDD for a SSD (and is working beautifully). I'm just not sure I have all the drivers although ThinkVantage and other driver updating programs that Lenovo has released says my system is up to date. Thanks for your time,ExC

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Could you try to go to the following site to install the following if you haven't done so. I understand you mentioned that you have install the tablet buttons drivers however have you tried the Hotkey utility? If you have not, you can download via the link below "Hotkey Utility". If it does not help, can you try to download the ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) for Windows 7 and use the software to find if there are any missing drivers.

It seems strange because I was convinced it was a matter of cables. What can it be?Should be the illuminator? I think not, because in this case should be seen vaguely. Is that correct? Then I thought, or the display itself or cables that connect to the main board?I opened but everything seems to be ok. Hi there, I hope someone can answer me a little querstion. I recently bought a x61 tablet and am really happy with it. Although I could be much happier If someone could help me with the following problem. I use Photoshop often, very often and for that reason I use the shift key a lot. In order for me to use it in tablet mode however I always have ot open the lid enough for my hand. I tried to map the tablet pc buttons in the control panel but it doesn't let me. I can map ctrl and alt and all of those but not shift. Is there some secret way to map the shift key? Or do I have to use some loophole and remap one of my normal keys. I hope someone can help me or at least tell me there is no way to do it. It would be greatly appretiated. Thanks in advance Pix (Short for Phoenix )

Answer:x61 tablet - How to map Shift key to tablet buttons?

I don't really have a direct solution for this since I want to customize them as Ctrl, Shift, all kind of this as well. However, there is a workaround that I found it's really good. What you have to have is "Mouse"  wired or wireless doesn't matter. Though I do recommend you to use wireless and Logitech as a brand. The reason why I recommend Logitech is because they have real nice SetPoint program which allows you to customize every buttons on your mouse. Then just map one of them as "shift" It works perfectly.. One hand with pen and another on mouse. I think Razer and Microsoft are another brand I know which have this feature in their software.

One minute they work, the next minute they don't.  If I perform a system restore, they work again, but even if I never install a single file, the next time I turn my tablet on/wake it from sleep, the rotate and buttons stop working.   I've tried uninstalling /reinstalling absolutely everything related - graphics driver, tablet buttons, hotkeys, etc... but it just keeps zoinking out.  Even after reinstalling said drivers nothing works Any ideas?

Posting this as a solution, since I couldn't find one anywhere online... My auto-rotate and tablet buttons were working just fine one minute, then completely quit the next.  I didn't install anything new, I didn't update any drivers; I still don't know why it stopped working.   Anyhow, after trying numerous reinstalls of tablet utilities, tablet buttons, etc, the culprit turned out to be the Tablet Shortcut Menu (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67219) Hope this helps some other frustrated googler -Topher

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the x201 Tablet to Windows 10?

Answer:x201 Tablet - Windows 10

I have been testing this,  I have had the touch working in earlier builds but now the Live version installed on bare drive resulted in no bluetooth and no touch,   pen works, the touch was working in some of the very early build but I dont remember when it stopped,  I was just using the fast installs where it was updating the os from the prevous version not a complete reinstall.  On this last go round the device manager does not show anything that is installed that has a problem it just does not see the touch,  not sure if this might have something to do with it but it named the machine "Desktop......"  not knowing it was a laptop that might have touch>

Answer:Recovery DVD for x201 tablet (windows 7 64-bit)

Good day and welcome to the community.

Short answer: you can't.

Lenovo OEM Windows recovery media is not available as a legal download. You should contact Lenovo Service (info below) to discuss your options for obtaining recovery media. They will confirm MTM and serial number, I believe, and there may be an associated cost.

I have installed win7 64 bit ("fresh install" on my M750-129) and i have also downloaded and installed all the newest drivers from toshiba website.
the device manager shows no problem / drivers needed, and trhings like HDD protection work well.

However, i have four groups of problems i would love and appreciate to find answer:

1) when i change the screen position to tablet, it does not change the orientation nor the resolution.
There is no utility to set the desired orientations of screen as it was in vista (horribly unstable and slow OS, though).
This, naturally, is diminishing the usefullness of the tablet finction

2) the buttons do not work properly; the screen rotation button starts excel (!!) , the centre of mobility button starts word (!!), and the toshiba assistance button does not work at all

3) fingerprints: the fingerprint utility lets me to screen my fingerprint, asks if it should save it, and than says "saving impossible; another duplicate pattern exists" which i completely do not understand what it means...

4) some applications are not available at all after fresh install: face recognition, DVD player, bussines card screener - but i can love without those; 1-3 worries me much much more and i would appreciate any functional help. thanx on advance for any try!

Answer:Portege M750 tablet, buttons and fingerprint functions not working in win7

Hi

I think you would need an extension package in order to use the tablet functions on the Portege series.
I didn?t find the Tablet PC Extension Package for Win 7 but there is an package for Win Vista.

Usually many tools and drivers which were released for Vista would work with Win 7.
So in my opinion you should try to install additionally this Tablet PC Extension Package.
I think this should solve the issue with the buttons too!

Regarding the fingerprint;
I think the message means that an fingerprint was already registered and therefore an second save is not possible.
Check if you can delete other fingerprints?

Hi, Although I have seen other users report problems with their pens for X201, I think my problem is unique. My pen will only work in landscape mode. I've updated all drivers, calibrated the pen, and even took the laptop to a repair shop. My warranty has expired, but any help is greatly appreciated. Gabe

Answer:Pen will not work in tablet mode X201 Windows 7

Hi, jgestill

Apologies, but I am somewhat confused by your query. Does your pen not work in tablet mode whatsoever, or does it not work in landscape view? Also, are you able to use your finger to use the touchscreen when in this mode?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi all, I can see the drivers and some of the software support for Win7 64bit but after looking through some of the FAQ and online manuals I can not find a guide that details out in what order the drivers and other support software are to be reinstalled. Does one just install ThinkVantage and let it take over? Background:  This is a ThinkPad that was upgraded from 2 GB and maxed out to 8 GB and the user already tried to reinstall Windows and removed the diagnostic partition.  They managed to get everything working except that the touch screen would only work with the stylus and not finger touch.   So the assumption at this point is that a driver was installed in the wrong order or the wrong driver was installed. Best,A

Hi all, Wow,  for a premium brand Lenovo's forums are next to useless.Does no one form Lenovo actually look around in here? I have been doing more research and it seems Lenovo has no procedure for replacing the OS except to make the us pay $50 USD more for a recovery disc.  If this is not the case please enlighten me as to where I can get this or provide a recipe for installing drivers without using the recovery disc.  If that is reallythe case then eMachines seems to provide better support than Lenovo. As it stands right now tomorrow I am going to contact my rep. at CDW-G to exchange this Lenovo x201 tablet for credit.Nowhere does it say that I have to buy additional software to use a system RAM upgrade. This is really a shame but I promise that if I have to do this I will never buy or recommend a Lenovo product to my customers again.

I'd like to upgrade the display on my x201 laptop. The outdated TFT display is getting a bit old. And I could use some expert advice - or even intelligent guesses as to whether certain LCD panels will work in the x201 laptop. The usual advice to upgrade a x201 laptop display is to go with a Hydis AFFS (similar to IPS) display e.g. the HV121WX4-120. Or alternately a Samsung PVA display e.g. the LTN121AP02-001. These are CFFL panels, so given my LED laptop, I'd also need an inverter (42W8009 or 42W8010) and CFFL variant cable e.g. 44C9909.  Okay great. But for various reasons I'd very much prefer to retain the WLED backlight, rather than change to a CFFL display. There are any number of forum posts saying that this isn't possible. But that appears to be refuted by some well documented threads that describe successful retrofits of better spec LED backlit panels in their x201 laptops e.g. using a Samsung LTN121AT07-L02 (27R2451) WLED LCD. With that thought in mind, I'm trying to discern whether a x201 tablet screen will work in my x201 laptop? e.g. a Samsung LTN121AP0310 or Toshiba LTD121KX6B-110 LCD. These are multitouch LCDs. I'm not counting on the multitouch to be operational. Just whether the LCD screen will work in a conventional manner in the laptop. Has anyone heard of these panels being retrofitted into a x201 laptop? Or spot any obvious impediments to using them in the laptop?    --Stock (original) x201 laptop LCD: Au Optroni... Read more

Have you performed the transplant before? If so, whats the secret to getting the LCD bezel back on properly? Lenovo's contracted on site "technician" botched it twice for me. Any pointers I can relay to them when they try again? Am tired of incompetent novices working on my hardware.

Hi all, I just received a brand new X201 tablet which came with XP preinstalled.  It also came with recovery disks which include a full licensed version of windows 7. I would like to install Windows 7 on the machine, but seeing as how there is no DVD drive, I am perplexed as to how they expect anyone to make the upgrade (though i imagine people purchase this particular model because they WANT XP preinstalled). Anyway, I tried to make a bootbale USB using the primary recovery disk to no avail.  Any ideas?  It seems odd there is little documentation provided to assist in this issue. Thanks.

I have a new X220 Tablet, and the Pen and Tablet functions work perfectly out of the box as long as the unit is on the Ultrabase. As soon as I remove from the Ultrabase (or boot while not connected), the Pen & Tablet functions stop working. Conversely, if I dock the X220, the Pen & Tablet functions begin working again. The behavior is the same regardless of whether I have an external monitor attached or not. Any thoughts?

Answer:Displayport to DVI-D X201 Tablet/Windows 8 64 bit - not detecting external monitor

Hi, smortensen

To make sure I fully understand the issue: You have upgraded to Windows 8, and you have your machine connected to an Ultrabase, correct? Are you trying to extend/duplicate your display from the laptop to another monitor? If you are trying to connect the laptop to an external display, have you attempted to do this when the computer is not in the Ultrabase?

Best,
Adam

I have a ThinkPad X201 Tablet running Windows 7 64-bit. Model 0831CTO. The solid state hard drive is almost always at 90% usage. It shows 136.16 GB as its size (odd size, I know, but that is what is shows. I want to upgrade to a larger HD, perhaps 500 GB SSD. I also want to up grade because I've been getting blue screen of death lately. So something is failing. i have not been able to find out a couple things that I need to know to do this: 1. Do I only need a 2.5" SDD. I recall my old ThinkPad tablet used a 1.8 hard drive which made it nearly impossible to upgrade. 2. What is the process in upgrading and changing this out so I ensure I get all my programs and all the original ThinkPad software put onto the new drive. Thank you for your help.Bill

Answer:How to replace hard drive in ThinkPad X201 Tablet running Windows 7 64-bit

Hi, btownsend

I found the Personal Systems Reference for your machine, which you can also see here (X201T section begins on page CML3-7). According to this, the standard SATA port for disk drives in the X201T takes a 2.5 inch drive, so any drive compatible with SATA 3.0 that is 2.5 inches x 9 mm should work fine.

As for moving things to the new drive, I would either use backup discs or a backup USB drive to save everything and then use that media to refresh everything once the new drive is installed.

Hope it helps,Adam

1. As it is 16gb tablet but in actual we get only 4gb free space & i have read in reviews that once we update windows & other apps we are left with only 400mb space & we cant install other apps. So is it possible to install software's (.exe) on 64GB memory card which this tablet support ?
I am not talking about APPS, I am talking about .exe files like photoshop, ERP, educational softwares etc.
2. As it is having only 1 USB port so it is possible to attach a USB hub so that we can attach pen drives, KB, Mouse, HDD, 3g Dongel & power adapter at once ?
If anyone of you have used any windows 8/8.1 tablet then please reply.

I have a Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph that works without problems aside from the fact that, when I undock it from the keyboard, it doesn't detect that it should now be in Tablet Mode. I _just_ bought a new X201 tablet, and am very happy with it, except that the screen color is very yellowish or orangish. Green trees look brown, blue skies look grey. I tried both calibrating through Color Management in the Control Panel and endless adjustments in Intel's Control Center. It's as if there's just very little blue in the screen--a mechanical issue. Mind you, it's crisp and clear; it just makes everything look like a photo taken under incandescent light with a camera set for daylight..  Anyone else?

Answer:Color on X201 tablet

I've never seen that with a brand new machine, but it does tend to happen with IPS screens after a while - i.e. backlight wear.So the question is - do you see this color shift even in the BIOS screen? If so, you'll need to have it fixed under warranty.

But my ThinkPad has integrated USIM reader, and my GOBI 2000 does recognize the card and connects to the 3G Network. Does any of you use EAP-SIM on X201T? Can you tell me how you do it?

Hey everyone, I ran Factory Recovery Disks in the thinkvantage tools and made both the Boot Disk and the Data Discs. I used a CD-RW disc and the Boot Disc was copied onto 1 disc, and the Data Discs consist of 14 discs.  My thought was that if I turn on my computer, push the blue thinkvantage button and then boot from my CD drive (in my ultrabay) it would take me to a Rescue and Recovery menu where I can then reformat my harddrive, and reload the machine back to factory settings, however what happened when I booted from my CD drive, was that it just started back up as normal. I've been at this since last night, and there is very little resources, I have absolutely no idea how to reformat my laptop. Please help. Edit: When I booted from the CD drive, I was of course, using the Boot Disc that I had copied. I haven't done anything with the Data Discs as of yet.

Hi all, I ordered an x201 tablet (should be here within a week) but i just need a little clarification on a few things i couldn't really find answers to. 1. I purchased it without a WWAN card (as i didn't know WWAN upgradable meant you needed to buy a card separately) and i want both WWAN and GPS. Does the Gobi 2000 card on the lenovo website come with GPS? as there is no mention of it having GPS capabilities. 2. Is a screen protector worth it? I have a multi-touch screen, but after looking on the internet there seems to be a problem with screen protectors affecting the multi-touch features. (i'm not that bothered with scratches or smudges, but will not using such a protector create black spots?) 3. To increase battery life is it possible to install an express card SSD and tell the system to store frequently used items there? What sort of program would i need or will windows 7 do this for me? 4. It comes with a 1 year depot warranty, can i purchase more before the 1 year expires? is it worth it and what does it cover? 5. Is there a slice battery for the x201t like the T and W series? from what i have been reading the 8 cell battery doesn't get anywhere near the stated 8 hours, can anyone confirm this? Sorry for all the questions, probably should have researched a bit more before buying it. Regards, Dennis

Answer:Few questions about the X201 Tablet

Well i just got my X201 Tablet i can answer a few of these questions. -Screen protector won't work with multi-touch features so they are probably not worth it.-Installing an SSD card in the expresscard slot using (readydrive i think) won't really help battery life-warranty can be upgraded, but seems to be a hit and miss as most of the repairs on the x201 tablet are considered user payable items.-Battery life with very light use using an 8 cell battery is around 4 hours with half brightness and wifi. Still unsure about the gobi 2000 WWAN card. Can someone confirm that all lenovo Gobi 2000 cards come with GPS capabilities, if not, where would i find one with both WWAN and GPS. Thanks

Hello, I recently purchased the X201 core i7 tablet with 8gb ram 500gb hdd superbright screen and i was obviously ecstatic when i got it from the UPS man  As a graphic artist I rely on pen sensitivity on tablets, and much to my dismay the pen sensitivity just didnt work at all for me. I since read the forums and realise that so many people have an issue with this and with much reading around i found that there were barely any answers/fixes. So, i will tell you what fixed this for me. Now this worked for me, it may not work for you but i hope it can help some people. I read on a forum elsewhere that for Photoshop you can fix this problem by turning OpenGL rendering off in Preferences->Performance. I did this and restarted CS4 and to my absolute delight it had fixed the issue, but not only for Photoshop! for the whole system! I must admit i had tried all the other fixes and merged installer fixes and none of them worked properly, but somewhere along the line i lost track of which drivers i was on when i got it working, but i do recommend trying this. Hope it helps and lenovo...... this laptop cost me 1700 and pen sensitivity is not supplied to me working properly! please please look into this and make it a core function as it is such a let down when youve looked forward to this otherwise brilliant piece of kit for so long. ruthy

I'm running Windows 7 (x64).  I installed another Wacom Dual Touch driver, you can download from below URL:http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=3DCECDE5-CC85-46C7-809F-0DB2...--> Pen pressure tested OK on Photoshop CS5 RemarksI tried to download the Wacom Bamboo driver from official Wacom website, 2 versions tested:1) ver 5.2.1-6a (it seems OK with the pen pressure, but the hand touch is no effect)2) ver 5.2.4-5 (totally can't make it on both pen pressure & hand touch) ConclusionJust ride on Lenovo's Multi-touch driver (7wge60ww.exe), andinstall Wacom Dual Pad Touch driver ver 5.1.1-11

Stylus works great in landscape mode but when I switch to portrait the pointer moves  all over the screen. I can't Calibrate because when I open it and get the screen touching it  gives no response. Tech Support wants me to re-image my computer  but I want to do that as a last resort since it will  mean several hours of reloading programs.  I think it is driver related.

Hi everyone, I ordered my x201tablet on March 13th. The website said 2 weeks delivery but I havent heard anything yet. The system says "released" but no news yet. I've checked other forums and it seems they're starting to arrive now  elsewhere in the world so just wondering if they've reached the UK yet? Regards, Paul

Hi everyoneI have just gotten my x201 tablet, and have 2 questions.1. The screen has one dead pixel, is that common for x201t?2. I found neither the pen nor the touch screen is accurate. And because you can not see the cursor before you touch the screen, it's hard to catch a button or a menu item by touching. I need to try several times to get it even after calibration. Is it common for you?Thank you for your reply.

Answer:2 questions about my X201 tablet

My screen doesn't have any dead pixels, so I want to say that isn't normal, and I would try to get it exchanged. Calibration isn't perfect on any tablet, but when calibrating you need to try to calibrate it with the screen oriented how you will use it in tablet mode, and calibrate with the screen at whatever angle you will typically use it in. Typically the screen is the most accurate in the center and the least accurate along the edges. I've also read that it will never be better than how it was from the factory, so I just reset mine and have adapted how I write to the factory calibration. After a week or two you don't even notice if the stylus matches up perfectly on screen. But then again, if your screen is messed up, you might have a bigger calibration problem than what is normal. EDIT: My x201 doesn't have multitouch, so you should wait and let others chime in regarding multitouch calibration.

Hi,I would like to know if the signal from the vga connector is digital or analog because since I connected the x201 tablet directly to my monitor ( vga->vga [analog] ) the screen is flickering. So I guess that I should buy another cable to connect it to the dvi-d port of my monitor. but unfortunately there is no dvi port on this x201-tablet computer. Is there an advantage if I buy a vga->dvi-d cable ? Or will the screen still be flickering? Is the signal from the vga-port on the x201tablet a digital or analog signal? Thanks,Michael  Bildschirm - Philips 240SW (PnP-Monitor (Standard))                                                                                           Modus        1920 x 1200 (32-Bit) (59 Hz)                                                    ... Hi, I just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad X201 Tablet 0831-CTO. Unfortunately I made a mistake and ordered it with Windows 7 32 bit instead of Windows 7 64 bit, which among other problems means that I can only use 2.92 GB of RAM out of the 6 GB inside the machine! How do I switch to Windows 7 64 bit? Do I need a software preload recovery dvd with Windows 7 64  (including the Office 2010 Starter in English, # 03W6342) from Lenovo or is it possible for me to use the recovery tools on my laptop and then install the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit version of Windows 7? Thanks, Morten

Hi,
I'm going to be doing some presentations and teaching online. I'm using Team Viewer 9 running on Windows 7 as my software. I would like to be able to have the equivalent to a whiteboard visible to the participants.
For a demonstration of the sort of thing I want to do see
where the presenter draws circles etc. He doesn't do any handwriting in the YouTube video (but he does in the actual presentation at CBT nuggets)
I'm total newbie when it comes to tablets, but a tablet that allows drawing direct on the tablet and simultaneous display on a Windows monitor. I know that the presentation on You Tube was done with various Wacom devices. Intuos4, Cintiq monitor, or more recently, Cintiq Companion tablet. (I tweeted the presenter Shawn Powers). These devices are a bit beyond my budget. Is there a cheaper alternative? Sadly the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is not yest available in Australia (where I am) - I'm not sure if it's a possible answer, but I'm assuming it would be. Is there anything else that's not going to mean I have to take out a mortgage on my house?
Thanks in advance for your help.
cheers,
Bernard

Answer:Drawing on a tablet with simultaneous display on the tablet and a Windows PC

I assume you mean you want to use an app on a standard tablet such as a Nexus 7 or IPad and stream the tablet screen content to a monitor or TV?
Maybe something like this is needed

I have upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit on my X61 Tablet, however I cannot get the tablet buttons, hotkeys, or auto-rotation to work. My understanding is that Lenovo has stopped supporting these products. I think it is a shame to stop using a perfectly working tablet PC with a superior LCD. I don't want to go back to Win 7 leaving all kinds of nice features on Windows 8. Any suggestions? Is there a hope? Koray

Answer:X61 Tablet Windows 8 - Tablet Button and Features Request

Hi koray,

I've been playing around with Windows 8 since the developers preview.  I've ran it on a lot of older systems.  Getting things to work will require some experimentation on your part.

You can start with your Driver Matrix.  There you can find the Hotkeys Utility for Windows 8.  You will also need the Power Manager Driver for Windows 8.  Not Power Manager,  just the Power Manager Driver.

Run Windows Update, it will probably find some stuff.  Some Windows 7 drivers will work, others won't.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro on an x60 tablet and everything works fine.  I also have it on an x61 non-tablet and it runs fine. I had to do a lot of messing around with stuff to get them to work right though.

Just make sure that you set system restore points before changing anything so you can get back what you had before, just in case something doesn't work right.  And, only install one thing at a time and reboot and test it out thoroughly before you install something else.

Good luck with this,

Dave

Well, I have no idea what caused this but the tablet buttons (even the on/off button) the lights for caps lock and scroll lock as well as the automatic screen orientation change when I flip it to be a tablet have stopped working. Also the screen does not turn off anymore when the lid is closed. Reinstalled pretty much all of the drivers, no effect.Any ideas? Is this thing already broken?

Answer:X41 tablet buttons + scroll lock and caps lock lights + screen orientation change stopped working!

well, SOMETHING is broken.. though it would seen unlikely it is hardware.. a question: did you load anything new just before this happened..?anything at all..scanner drivers or printer drivers or a new application..? OH!, welcome to the lenovo community..!

Today I got my new Lenovo X201 Tablet PC and bought it with a new 160 GB SSD from Intel. I booted with the installed hard disc and created a recovery media on a 32 GB USB Stick. I chose both options boot and data recovery. Now I changed the hard disc to the new SSD but it doesn't boot from the recovery USB Stick with message "no valid operating system". The USB Stick was formatted and is now used with ~8GB. What was my mistake?

Answer:Installing Win7 on X201 tablet (new SSD)

I haven't tried this, but I assume that you would need to go into the BIOS and change the boot device for this session, or hit some key when the BIOS is coming up to get a boot menu.  The BIOS prompts tell you what keys to press.  Now that you know what to look for, you should be able to do your install. I'm thinking of getting that 160G Intel SSD too, although I would probably try using TrueImage to restore from a backup of the old disk.  Let us know how that SSD install goes (and how performance is afterwards).

Sounds like it could be hitting overheat temperatures and throttling.1) Does the fan still run normally?2) Is the bottom of the machine get hot when the CPU spikes/freezes happen?3) Have you ever reapplied the thermal paste on your machine?

So a few months ago I spilled a glass of water of my laptop (urgh). All was well, except the touchpad/trackpad have been iffy ever since. It is fairly functional if I can disable the touchpad buttons, then I can use the trackpad buttons/touchpad for clicking. Unfortunately the ultranav driver keeps giving me problems... sometimes it will work and then randomly stop working and I'll have to reinstall or try something else.In short... Is anybody experiencing ultranav issues/know a solution? And is there anywhere I can get a replacement for my touchpad? Thanks

As there seems to be no user manual (those indicated by Lenovo support do not describe the machine at all) is there a source of info on this? For example my Touch Chip Fingerprint Co processorprint Coprocessor is 'working working normally' but how to turn it on and use it?The diagrams on top of the F buttons are a mystery - the one on F9 seems fairly clear but pressing this put the computer to 'Sleep'.  So what do the others do? I don't like to experiment and get into trouble. In Control Panel or anywhere else there is no mention of the webcam - how to get that going? I'd be grateful for any help.
