Preferred Solution: Satellite U50T-A-10F - keyboard and ELAN touchpad not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having the exact same problem here, having to type on the touch screen as my keyboard and mouse have suddenly stopped working. Very annoying as I really need to use my laptop at the moment. Any suggestions on how to fix it are very much welcomed.

Hi,

I have Toshiba Satellite U50T-A-100. My keyboard just randomly stopped working yesterday. I have had it for a year and a half and unfortunately the warranty is only one year (had it already fixed once when still under warranty). I tried to fix it myself, tried several advices found on online forums as this seems to be a very frequent problem.

I desperately need this to be fixed as I have a deadline for report cards and can't write them on I-pad... Anyone has any advice that would help fix the problem? I was also thinking about buying an external keyboard.

Thanks

Answer:Keyboard is not working on my Satellite U50T-A-100

I guess you’ve got the same issue as already described in this thread:
https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread.php?82748

Probably the last updates from Microsoft as well as update for ELAN touchpad caused some problems and therefore you cannot use the touchpad or keyboard…
You could solve this annoying issue using the external USB mouse and loading the last restore point.

When using my Flex 2-14, I am unable to ue the keyboard and touchpad at the same time, which becomes a problem when doing things such as playing games. I have the Elan Smart-Pad, and even after going onto the settings for this and changing Palm Tracking to minimum, the problem still persists. Is there a way I can change this?

Hi

My keyboard and touchpad stopped working out of nowhere (i think it was after windows updated???) and i can't seem to be able to fix it, i tried to reinstall the touchpad drivers and nothing changed, also i couldn't find the keyboard drivers.

is there anything someone can recommend me to do? I'm going insane with this laptop!

(The model is Satellite M50-A-118)

Answer:Satellite M50-A - ELAN touchpad stopped working

Identical problem here. Satellite M50-A-11Q. Allowed windows update and touchpad and keyboard drivers are disabled.

Using an external mouse to access - currently doing a system restore to before the latest update. This looks like a fault at Microsoft's end.

Will update once I have a definite solution.

UPDATE: Restore has temporarily fixed the problem. Disabling windows update for the time being.

Remember this recent thread?

https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread....topped-working

Well guess what my mouse and touchpad stopped working again today, this time during a Windows update (rather than after) - and guess what... the "Elan - Other Hardware - ELAN Input Device" was one of the updates, same as last time.

The good news, for me anyway is that the problem was temporary this time. After forcing a reboot by a long press of the power key, mouse and touchpad functionality was restored after the updates finished installing.

EDIT - just to say that my touchpad customisations e.g. reverse direction of scroll, 3 finger press to launch browser etc. have all been lost. No big deal, just a nuisance

Answer:Satellite M50A - ELAN touchpad stopped working - again!

And as a follow up, having edited the registry to restore the functionality to launch my favourite browser with a 3 finger press (see another thread for reason for why I had to use regedit) I've had intermittent results.

I've now realised that the 3 finger "press" feature seems to have disappeared to be replaced with a 3 finger "touch". It's not documented that I can see, the registry key names have remained the same but pressing doesn't do anything while a lingering 3 finger touch does work.

Have you tried to make system restore or anything else?

Can I reduce the sensitivity?

Can i get update file for BIOS(traditional updating from boot CD, not OS!)

Sorry for my bad English.

Answer:Satellite L20 keyboard & touchpad not working but keyboard work in BIOS

If the traditional BIOS update is not available on the download page the only way to get it is to contact nearest authorized service provider. They have all versions.

But this keyboard and mouse issue is really strange. can you use it if you start operating system in ?safe mode??

I have an Aspire ES1-711-P14W and have build 10240 of Windows 10 and the Elantech touchpad does not function in 10, This is not a hardware issue because it functions fine in Windows 8.1. I have tried the drivers from acer, looked in the bios for anthing mouse related. It does not show up in the device manager, when I unplug my Logitech mouse the "Mouse and Other Pointing Devices" tab dissapeares. It looks like Windows 10 is not even loading a generic driver. When I unplug my external mouse the cursor dissapeares as well.

I have a Aspire S7-392-9439 and I have the same problem after installing Windows 10. Type Mouse into the Start Menu and run the mouse control panel.  Go to ELAN Tab on Mouse Properties. The problems I see are that     1) the "Enable Device" is ghosted (whether or not any external devices are plugged in)     2) "Disable when external USB pointing device plug in" is checked, even after I uncheck it and Restart.  it sets this back to "checked" status no matter what. If I click on "Enable Device" it runs the driver software, however the two buttons don't work.  i.e. left button, right button.  You can move the pointer around just fine using the Touchpad as normal.  Also, multi-finger gestures don't work like two finger scrolling, etc.. Also when you click on Options to bring up the "Elan Smart Pad" options for the Touchpad.  You will notice that this button does nothing!!! I have noticed that after setting things up correctly and Restarting Windows 10, and logging in as normal, the touchpad will operate correctly for a few seconds.  I can move the pointer around and close Explorer windows that are open, for example.  However, as system tray icons continue to load in and other programs start up e.g. Sticky Notes and so on... the touchpad breaks down and you can't see any pointer or get anything done.  Something breaks it after it was working! The ELAN softwa... Hi I have a Samsung RV510 laptop and I have a problem with the elan touchpad. It can scroll up and down but I when I click or tap on anything it doesn't do anything. I am using a USB plug in mouse but I am working on an university assignment and I need the USB portal to save my work on an USB key. Before Christmas I had the same problem and I went into the tech support in uni and he said that I had set the left click button to right click function or something like that and he went into control panel and mouse to resolve the problem. He fixed it by doing something in Mouse under Control Panel but I just can't remember what and by the way I have the setting where the elan touchpad is disabled when an USB plug in mouse is inserted. I really need help today if you can ! I have tried to adjust the settings of the touchpad in Mouse in Control Panel but even switching the buttons does not do anything to solve the problem. Sometimes when I start the laptop the touchpad works fine but an indication that is going wrong is when I am scrolling the screen with the touchpad the pop up that appears on screen when one right click appears by itself and keeps appearing whenever on the screen I move the touchpad mouse. After that the tap to click as well as left and right click buttons fail to work at all and I do not know if this is a software problem or is it a hardware problem as I said I encountered this problem already and now it's returned. Thanks

Got a nasty surprise today - unlike the other major manufacturers, who offer one year free tech support, Lenovo does not. $179 for a contract or $89 to cover a single incident. Thanks, guys. :-/ Here's my problem. G780, bought last October. Upgraded from Win7 Home Premium to Win8 Pro.A few days ago, the built-in keyboard stopped working. It works in the BIOS, but when you boot into Windows, Windows doesn't recognize it. There is a PS/2 keyboard driver and a HID Keyboard Device that show up in the Win8 Device Manager. I'm assuming those are the drivers for the built-in keyboard. If I plug in a USB keyboard, it shows up in the Device Manager as an additional HID Keyboard Device. Through trial and error, I discovered that the keyboard still works fine when the Elan touchpad driver is not installed. The problem with THAT: I can't disable the touchpad unless the driver is installed, and if the touchpad isn't disabled, it'll screw me up because I accidentally brush my hand up against the touchpad while typing. I've also noticed that sometimes, the touchpad icon in the system tray shows up with a CAUTION icon overlaid on top of it (you know, the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point). I can't figure out why, and I can't figure out what changed on my computer that caused the keyboard to stop working properly. I've tried uninstalling the Elan touchpad driver, downloading the latest driver from the G780 support web page, and reinstalling it. No... Read more

Answer:G780 keyboard doesn't work, but ONLY when Elan Touchpad driver is installed.

hi stevesobol,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Are you also able to type your password on the login screen but after that the keyboard gets disabled? If this is the case, check this article as it's similar to the keyboard issue.

As for the Keyboard not working when the ELAN touchpad driver is not installed, this is surprising as I've never heard this issue happen before. Are you not able to disabled the touchpad via Fn+F6 even if the driver is not installed?

I'm experiencing problems with my brand new  Thinkpad 13. For some reason double tap and drag or just tap doesn't work and than miraculously is working again. So for example in the same web page I'm reading an article by scrolling down and than all of a sudden I can't scroll anymore by double tap and drag so I have to use left click and drag. After a few minutes is working again. I tried to update the driver but I'm getting a message saying that I already have the latest driver. I have to mention that in the Elan Smart-Pad menu One-finger tapping is enabled.

Answer:ThinkPad 13: Elan touchpad - tap not working properly

I have this problem too! Just the scrolling though. I thought it was just facebook because that's the only website that it occurred so far. Do you mind telling me which websites you've experienced this on? And also the browser that you use. I'm using Opera.

Hi,

Trying to be helpful, I emailed Toshiba to let them know of a broken link to the latest Elan Touchpad Driver 12.8.5.1 for the Click Mini. Obviously not trying to be so helpful, I received an automated email from Toshiba telling me I had to to post this on the forum instead. So in case this link doesn’t work, choose ELAN driver released for another Toshiba notebook series.

Hi, I have the Y50-70 and I'm generally pleased with it. There are a couple things that bother me though... 1. Mainly, it's the touchpad double-finger tap which has never worked. It registers/shows double-tap in the ELAN icon down right by the clock, but I doesn't produce a right-click. I've tried changing right-click to something else but nothing gets through. Very annoying since this is a very important touchpad feature imo. I have the latest (11.4.39.1) ELAN driver from Levovo Y50-70 support page and also latest BIOS and chipset drivers. The touch pads other multifinger features works fine, including two-finger scroll etc. I tried different ELAN drivers but nothing has helped the issue. Please assist...! 2. Also, I it just me, or is the fan running more often (sooner) than before with the latest BIOS update?? I think it said something about fan speed controll in the notes, but I assumed that it would become more quiet with the update  BRErik, Sweden

The laptop is just over 1 year old and has been working ok until recently.

First symptoms were keyboard and touchpad not working at windows 8 login page. Pressing power to put laptop in sleep and pressing again often got them working.

This progressed to the keyboard and touchpad not working at random points whilst using the laptop.

Finally blanked the HDD and restored windows 8 alone, the laptop still BSOD's fairly frequently - refuses to install updates required for 8.1 and the keyboard and mouse often do not work even in the BIOS setup page. I have reseated the RAM and HDD.

Running out of ideas, the keyboard and touchpad do work and so I would assume that their connections are OK - but frequently they just stop.

Any ideas appreciated?

Thanks

Satellite C660-28H

Win7 64bit

antivirus Kaskpersky deleted "system32/driver/cekbfilter.sys" file for keylogger reason (Kaspersky Support said It is mistake of Kaspersky antivirus, file is not virus or virused), and after I restart OS I find keyboard and touchpad not working at all.

Also I already asked about this at [US Toshiba Forum|http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Keyboards-Touchpads/satellite-c660-cekbfilter-sys-deleted-and-no-keyboard/td-p/364673] and there was advise to ask here too

I can not use Windows recovery (do not have recovery point) , and I do not want to do full recovery to factory default - there are many soft and personal data stored.

So Is here way to recover drivers? As I already said at US Toshiba Forum - I already tryed delete touch pad driver and instal from Synaptic official website, and I not changed anything.

Also I think antivirus may delete not only file, but do some fixes to remove "wrone" driver

Answer:Re: Satellite C660 - keyboard and touchpad are not working

Huh it is very stupid situation now. I never had such problems but it will be interesting to find solution to this.

Have you tried to connect external mouse, just to see if this can work? I mean it is much easier to use windows with mouse and choose different options.

If this works try to open device manager and properties for keyboard. There you can find option for driver update. Check if some driver update can be found. Fact is that keyboard uses standard Microsoft driver so f you are online maybe some driver can be found.

Of course best and easiest solution for you is recovery installation. If you don?t want to do this try to find right drivers using such driver update option.

One more thing: if you have so important stuff saved on HDD you can remove it from your notebook and connect it to other PC/notebook as external device and make backup. After doing this you can install recovery image and problem is solved.

Hello,I bought a Lenovo Z500 and after a while the touchpad started peeling off so I went to a lenovo service and changed the touchpad. After this, when I got the laptop back, the touchpad was working fine, but I couldn't scroll using two fingers (as I used to) so I reinstalled the Elan/Synaptics driver, but still not working. I reinstalled the whole system (Windows 7 x64) and is still not working.More details: Before the touchpad being changed I had the little icon in the task bar and when I used the mouse it appered in the icon how many fingers are touching the touchpad, now it doesn't. I tried to acces Elan by clicking on that icon (as I used to) and nothing's happening. I am waiting for a solution, because I use the touchpad more often that the mouse and without the Elan fuctions it's pretty much useless righnow.

Try to set the notebook back to factory settings. I guess you would need to use an external USB keyboard in case the internal keyboard does not work.

Swapped motherboard in this laptop because the old one had died. After plugging everything in and double checking all of my connections, here are the symptoms I am having now:

When the machine boots to windows I have no keyboard or touch pad. I have keyboard function at post long enough for me to hit f2 and get to the CMOS settings, after that I lose keyboard, except for using the function key and f4 to change monitors,

On boot up I can turn number lock on and then nothing again. I have tried resetting the CMOS, o have tried pulling all the cards like wireless and modem, tried different sticks of ram and even pulling the hard drive. If you have any thoughts or have seen this before please clue me in,

Hello everybody

I have a serious problem in my Satellite A300-243. I installed using a CD a driver for external keyboard and after I restarted both keyboard and touchbpad stopped working and taking any order when I reach the vista welcome page.
What should I do because you know even I cant enter the windows to uninstall that driver.

Any way to do it while windows starting up?

Hello

Why you installed a driver for external keyboard? I never heard about such drivers?

Anyway, you should try to boot in safe mode and then you are able to remove external keyboard driver from software list. After restarting in normal mode, the touchpad and keyboard should work properly again.

The Satellite C850-1G3 is a cheap notebook. You can get it for about 370 Euros.

>Touchpad stop working is normal?
Even if the notebook is cheap, the touchpad should work properly.

But what do you mean exactly by stopped working?
Can you enable or disable the touchpad by pressing Fn + F5 (or just F5)??

Did you try to modify the touchpad settings? (can be found in control panel -> mouse -> last tab ?pointing device -> settings?)

Anybody got any solves to a noisy fan? I've upgraded to Windows 10 but had this problem prior to that. Tried changing settings within the eco mode but fan still runs in the background without the computer running hot.
I've seen previous posts regarding this issue but it doesn't seem to get solved easily and turns into a slanging match.

I've got BIOS version 1.10 but don't really want to mess with upgrades as they also seem to cause issues.
Any quick fixes would be great as this whirring noise is driving me up the wall.

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

Basic story is that I bought my lenovo laptop about a year ago. I was excited when I received it, however, I quickly realized that the right mouse click button did not work correctly. You have to press it very hard and it regularly fails to work. As far as I can tell from reading around, the synaptics version of the pad had issues that were resolved by a driver update. Has there been any sort of fix for the ELAN version? I've tried both uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers available (as far as I can tell) to no benefit. Would really love to get this fixed so that I can use this laptop as intended.

I know there are couple threads about the touchpad drivers already but in my experience old threads tend to get ignored even if you post new information in them. Just posting this to help someone who may be experiencing the same problem I am.  I've looked around a bit and found people complaining about the fact that the Lenovo ELAN driver doesn't have an option for two finger tap to click. I've found a couple of registry hacks that enable the functionality but I prefer not to use them. I've also seen people use the ELAN dirvers that ASUS provides. This is the direction I choose to go.  Alot of people suggested using the 11.5.0.9 version driver. With this version it gives the two finger tap to click functionality but I found that two finger scrolling became unbearably jerky.  The best driver I've found is one listed on ASUS's site. It is driver version 11.5.11.3. No jerking when two finger scrolling the the two finger tap to click works perfect.  Here is a link to their touchpad driver download page

Hello,

I'm using a MSI GP60 Leopard Laptop and have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
My touchpad in Windows 8.1 worked fine but when I upgraded it seemed to stop working. I went to the mouse settings
and the Elan tab and enabled it back and everything worked again. But then the next day it seemed to have stopped working again. Yet, this time I went to the Elan tab and nothing was there. Any help?

Hi,
I'm having problems with my All-in-One Keyboard on Windows 8.1(64 bit): it doesn't accept input both from keyboard and touchpad at same time (can't walk in a FPS game while looking with mouse, for example).
Is this a product's limitation or should it work?

Thanks

Hello guys,

great feedback so far so I wanted to iron out another issue I have with windows 10.

Namely after getting around windows 10 constantly installing synaptics touchpad drivers over my elan touchpad Ive gotten it to work semi properly. The things that dont work are swipes, minimize or show desktop swipe and that switch to another task left - right swipe. Id like to get those to work. Is there some registry tweak or a new driver around?

The drivers from acer website restored my touchpad to near full functionality, the things that are missing are those windows 10 gesture swipes etc. two finger scroll, double tap to right click, 3 finger tap to email, 4 finger press to open assigned program, multifinger support....All work fine. So this is a pure driver issue/win10 conflict

Any workarounds?

Thanks guys.

Hello I have recently purchased a Flex 15 with the Elan touchpad. I have noticed that I do not have an option to two finger tap for a right click. The settings for the Elan Touchpad provide me a way to two finger click (where i physically click the touchpad) but not for the 2 finger tap. This seems like a weird oversight since that functionality is so very common now for all laptops. Does anyone else have this issue? is there a way to get this functionality back?

Answer:Flex 15 with Elan touchpad two finger tap

I've got the same problem. The ALPS driver that takes care of the settings even include this feature, but it doesn't work.

I just wanted to pass on to Acer support that I was unable to install the Windows 10 preview build 1030 on my ES1-411-C1WD with the touchpad set in the UEFI to Advanced mode. If I left it on Advanced mode, Windows 10 installation would not have a mouse cursor and at one point just locked up. I had to change the setting to BASIC mode in order to get Windows 10 preview to install. If I change the setting to Advanced mode, Windows 10 loads but without a cursor, so I am left using the touchpad in Basic mode.

Hi ShowsOn,

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with your teouchpad. For the sake of troubleshooting we would need to do that under Windows 8/8.1 to determine if there is a hardware issue. We're still a few weeks from releasing supported product list for Windows 10, but I would expect that once that's out it will easier to get drivers.

Hi,I own a Lenovo G700 Windows 8 laptop.. which I truly like, except for the ELAN touchpad. I've tried several settings with palmtrack and sensitivity and still de trackpad register tab events at random times or when hardly touched. After a while it gets a little better, but still... very annoining. It seems very very buggy, the driver (in windows 8)? I checked the driver of the ELAN trackpad and that is the latest one available through the support centre? Anyone any suggestion how I can better the trackpad behavior on my G700 with (buggy) windows 8?? Thanks in advance, hgr

Answer:G700 and Elan touchpad sensitivity

hi hgr,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you try uninstalling the driver under Device Manager. on the pop up asking to delete Driver Software place a check on it.
    - Check Control Panel for other related ELAN/Egis Software and Uninstall it.

Try using the touchpad after restart and check if the response is more ok with you.

As an alternative try downloading and installing this one
http://drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_v16_3_15_1_C_XP32_Vista32_Win7-32_XP64_Vista64_Win7-64_Signed...

Some users were able to install synaptics and reported to work fine

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Been reading here and using win 10 from the outset. On latest build, updated this morning.

This Elan touchpad driver keeps coming in through windows update and it just screws up my touchpad more than anything. When it loads up I can no longer use right or left click functions on the touchpad. I can find no way to stop the update.

Is there any method for stopping a particular windows update from loading? I keep uninstalling it but it comes back all the time.

I am on an Asus G750J laptop.

Thanks for any help. Hopefully there is a simple fix that just eludes me.

I'm running the most recent driver on my Elan touchpad (v. 10.7.6.2). With this update came automatically activated PalmTracking, which causes a 2-3 second delay on the mouse after every keystroke. I can't find a way to disable the PalmTracking. Everything I've seen through searches so far shows how to disable this with older versions. The only available 'properties' screen looks like this:

Having the PalmTracking activated is really frustrating - particularly since it used to be possible to disable it. Does anyone know of a way to disable it with this driver version? I'm also including the rest of my computer's information at the bottom. Thanks for any advice!

Answer:Elan Touchpad Disable Palmtracking

That does sound like an annoying feature.

If there is nothing within the settings/properties window you included in your post, I can think of three options:

1) Disabling the trackpad drivers entirely. This options will fix the delay problem, but you will lose all the other useful functions of the trackpad.

2) Rolling back to a previous version of the driver.

3) Editing a registry value to turn off the feature (this may not even exist).

-------------------------------------------------------

Assuming you'll want to try out option 3, I'll need you to make a System Restore point first.

After you've done this, proceed with the directions below.

-------------------------------------------------------

Click Start.

In the search bar type regedit and hit Enter.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPadDisplay.

Click File.

Click Export.

Save the file to your Desktop as a .txt file.

Copy and paste this export and include it in your next post.

Just ordered and received a new y510p but I'm having problems with the touchpad.  It is difficult to get it to recognize when I'm touching  it and then when it finally does, the cursor is erratic.  The image below is taken from paint and shows the mouse cursor movement from me just holding my finger in place.  It happened with the default drivers 11.4.14.1 and I also installed the 11.4.17.1 drivers from the lenovo site.  Running Windows 8.  I tried disabling all of the multi-touch, edge swipe, etc. features and turning palm-tracking and sensitivity up and down.  Any other suggestions on how to fix this?  Has anyone else had problems this bad with the touchpad?

Answer:Why is there no two finger tap option for the Elan Touchpad?

hi tsfine,

Don't you see the twp finger gesture under the Multifinger options on the ELAN Properties?

If you don't see it there, try to reinstall a different ELAN touchpad driver and or apply the registry fix from the solution in this thread and observe.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hello people. I`m gettin frustrated by a problem I am having with the touchpad on my parents' Lenovo G500. Baasicaly when I install the Elan driver and restart everything works properly. On the next start of windows, though the driver stops working (i get the yellow exclamation mark in the small window in taskbar and can`t scrool with the touchpad). I have tried uninstalling and installing driver several times (even as administrator) but it doesn`t help. The driver I`m installing is the latest one from Lenovo`s site. Has anyone else encountered problems and this and are there any solutions ? Thanks in advance

Hi Sashence,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that the Touchpad is not working as expected after installing the exact driver and restarting the computer, the only available option to check if the issue is Hardware related is by performing OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) using OKR (One Key Recovery) in the computer if the issue persists even after performing OSRI. I suggest contacting our Technical Support Team to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

Of my computers the laptop I use most was the last machine I upgraded to Windows 10.  Coincidentally, it he the only machine that I have problems that cause me great pain. I have a Lenovo L530 that came loaded with Windows 7 and everything worked fine.  When typing my thumbs huver over the touch pad which I would like to disable.  I can go to Control Pannel and Mouse and click the UltraNav tab.  I disable the TouchPad and clicke to place the icon in the tray and click ok.  It appears to work fine and all is well until I either restart or shut down and start up from a cold boot.   The changes I made to the touchpad and no longer in effect.  I can go back to the Control Panel, Mouse and set the options again, and it works fine until I sign back in again.  If I switch users, stops working again.  As a temporary work around, I have saved a shortcut to the mouse settings on my desktop but it is a very anoying work around. I have forced an update by Microsoft and have loaded the current driver on the Lenovo site and still have the same problem.  The currently installed driver is; ver. 11.4.66.1. Please help! Paul

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 and noticed that my Elan Touchpad features no longer worked at boot-up and that the dynamic icon was missing from the toolbar.  I went into the "mouse" settings in the control panel and noticed that the driver was still loaded.  More interestingly, after hitting OK, the dynamic icon appears and the gestures worked. Of course, I tried to update to the Elan drivers, but upon doing so, I noticed that the gestures were different, and specifically, the four-finger gestures to switch to between the desktop and start menu was missing.  Because of this, I uninstalled the updated driver and tried to revert to the older one with the four-finger gestures.  Ever time I tried to install the older driver, however, the installation would crash and the system would auto-repair back to the old Windows state where the Elan Touchapd features were missing until I loaded up the Mouse menu and hit OK. Any ideas on how to fix this issue, besides placing a shortcut on the desktop to make it easier to load the control panel's "mouse" menu?  Is there another driver available where the four-finger gestures are working?

Yes yes. The updated driver works fine  . Thank you for the quick support! What I did:- Downloaded TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A.zip- In the Device manager, under "Mice and other pointing devices", right clicked on "ELAN PS/2 Port Smart-Pad" chose Uninstall. In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog, checked the "Delete the driver software for this device" checkbox and hit OK. Restart laptop.- Unzip TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A- Run the Setup.exe in TouchPad_Elantech_11.6.4.001_W8x86x64 (which is in TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.4.001_W7x64_A)- Restart. Now the (dynamic) Elan Pointing device icon appears in the system tray as it did before the windows 8.1 update.

I am running a ThinkPad L530 in a Windows 10 environment.  All drivers are up to date.

Ever since I installed Windows 10, whenever the laptop awakens from sleepmode or is rebooted, the touchpad becomes enabled.  I have gone into the Settings - Devices - Mouse & touchpad - additional mouse options - Ultranav and unchecked the "Enable TouchPad" and clicked Apply, then OK.  This doesn't hold, though.  As soon as it awakens, the box becomes checked and I have to redo the settings.  I don't want the touchpad active at all, but I do occasionally need the eraser button.  How do I make my selection stick?

Answer:Y510p Elan Touchpad doesn't work any more

Dear SirWelcome to Lenovo Community Would you please try to go back to the previous windows version, if it works so there is no compatibilty between the driver & windows 10 & you must wait any new update for this driver, if its still not working so you should go to the service center maybe you have a hardware issue. Best Of Luck

Hello, I just unboxed my Yoga 710-14IKB two hours ago. I got to work setting everything up and noticed I get lagging when using the touchpad. This is especially annoying when watching youtube videos. When moving the mouse during playing, the video will get severe lag spikes, both video and audio. I got to work solving this and isolated the problem to ELAN software. When I deleted all driversoftware from ELAN, with device manager, all problems were gone. But doing this causes some functions, such as touchpad two-finger scrolling, to disappear, which we don't want. I reinstalled ELAN again with device manager by selecting "find drivers on the internet". It re´nstalled, restarted and back was the lagging again.  Any solutions?

I just got the LG Gram 15 laptop.

The ELAN touchpad delays/lags a bit when my finger first touches the pad. The mouse on the screen "jumps" a bit to compensate the delay. Seems like it is deliberately done to prevent accidental mouse movement upon click.

But it is sooo annoying. I cannot make any precise movements. Can anyone tell me how to disable it?

Hi there,

I am having issues with the ELAN driver on my Satellite S50-B-12Q. One of a sudden it started to work weirdly, it can't be used. It moves fast and not responsive to your finger's actions. The only solution I've come up with is to roll back to a previous driver, the windows one, but of course I've lost all the extra movements (scrolling, moving right, left and so on).

I have tried different versions of the ELAN driver but had no different results.

Could please anyone help me out with this?

Thanks

I have two machines that both have Elan touchpads and both of them have significant issues. One is an Asus Zenbook 303la. The other is a Samsung Ativbook 5. The Zenbook has erratic mouse movements. Sometimes the cursor will jump to another part of the screen. It also will click on stuff that I'm not trying to click on. The Ativbook has another issue. When I select something, there is a delay. I'll remove my finger and it stays selected for a few seconds. It especially has issues with scrolling. I tried configuring every option that I could think of.... I searched for a different driver to install but I didn't find anything on the Elan, Asus, or Samsung website. I tried uninstalling the driver and using the built in Windows driver. The touchpads work much better now but they are missing some features. The Samsung doesn't support double tapping for certain applications. Other than that it's acceptable. Anyone have any issues with these touchpad drivers or know of a work around?

Hey guys,

I updated to windows 10 and when i am gaming i prefer to put my touchpad(from Elan) OFF but i couldnt it kept making me move in different positions in the game when i accidently made contact with it . The shortcutkey of disable/enable didnt work since i updated to windows 10 apparently it was a drivers problem so i went to Device Manager and clicked on the touchpad everything was greyed out so i deleted it from my device manager. I restarted my laptop and the touchpad didnt work which is good but i also want to use it sometimes just for the fun of it.

Later when i went to the new touchpad driver from Elan i downloaded it and tried to install it and it said i need to go to configuration screen -> programs and delete it from there. I didnt knew this... did i do something wrong now? i am about to delete that old Elan driver program from programs right now but i fear that i shouldnt have deleted the touchpad in the device manager...

Old program from Programs- I cant delete, a pop up shows up that says i am about to delete it but it wont... gonna restart laptop.

Edit: When i try to delete it doesnt do anything... is it because i deleted my touchpad from Device Manager and thats why it cant be removed or something? or did i actually did the right thing?
UPDATE: After restarting my touchpad worked again so i assume it appears back automatically into the device manager. I could finally delete my old elan touchpad software now from Programs, i will need to rest... Read more

HiI have an intermittent problem with the touchpad on my Acer laptop running Win10. It switches from tap to click to click and drag. This is often preceeded by 'ghost' images of various dialog boxes which appear on screen and are permanent. I'm thinking it's a software error as when I reboot the computer it's fine again. Tap to click is enabled in settings and switching it off and on again has no effect.I see I'm not alone with this problem, but I've seen it on Dell laptops. Could it be a Win10 problem?I have heard it's possible to restart the touchpad without rebooting the laptop. Does anyone know how to do this? All help gratefully received.

Prior to installing Windows 10, I would disable the touchpad on my PC (hate it!) by going to Settings - Mouse Properties - ELAN - Stop Device. Since installing Windows 10, the ELAN device does not show up under devices and I cannot disable. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Answer:Cannot disable ELAN Touchpad on Lenovo G500

Have you looked in Programs for ETDWare? Try uninstall it from there.

Hi,
I tried disabling my laptop touchpad mouse when I plug in my USB mouse. I selected the disable option under the touchpad properties/preferences. The icon shows the disabled sign but the touchpad mouse is still active. I am thinking of uninstalling and then re-installing the driver. I cannot find the driver online so can someone direct me on where to locate this driver or provide me with some troubleshoot options to remedy this issue.
My PC is a Dell Inspiron 15 5548 model with windows 8.1 64-bit OS.
Please advise. Thank you.

I like my ideapad 710S-13isk except that I hate the Elan touchpad which really damages the whole experience. I am hoping it's a configuration issue--it is certainly a software rather than hardware problem, but I have not been able to find a way around it. Three (software) issues: 1) there appears to be no way to configure the ENTIRE touchpad to respond as a one-finger-left-click, two-fingers-right-click touchpad.  The software breaks up the touchpad into three different sections, and that is that.  So two fingers on the central area will right-click, or two fingers in the lower left corner will right-click, for example, but one finger in the lower right corner and one finger in the middle-right will NOT right-click.  This is a huge pain unless one makes a point of only using the top portion of the touchpad, which is ridiculous. 2) I am used to being able to select an item with one finger, and then stroke with another finger to move the item in preparation for dropping it. My other computers have worked that way.  This touchpad does not.  UPDATE:  this seems to be working now after updating to the latest drivers. 3) Tapping to click only works with one finger.  It'd be nice if it worked with two.  That is more complicated for the software since fingers never tap truly simultaneously, but other devices can figure it out. If anyone can help me with settings to correct these issues, I would be grateful. &n... Your replaced touchpad is more than likely a synaptics touchpad.  I had the same problem, and my original touchpad was an ELAN.  The synaptics touchpad included in the replacement service part is garbage.  I have contacted Lenovo no less than 20 times to get this resloved, and they keep sending synaptics touchpads.  Tonight, I broke down and put my Y50-70 up for sale on ebay and purchased a new laptop.  I have been trying to resolve this issue with Lenovo since April of 2015.  I have had Lenovo machines for many years.  Never had any problems.  This unit which cost 1200.00 has been a problem since day one, and lenovo hasn't done anything to remidy the issues.  I am no longer a Lenovo customer.

The current ELAN touchpad driver ("Lenovo pointing device", version 11.4.65.2, dated end of July) for Lenovo Yoga 3 14 scrolls multiple pages at once whenever I move my fingers just a very tiny amount. It's very frustrating! This doesn't happen in every program (Firefox and Explorer scroll smoothly, for example), but in many (such as Notepad, RegEdit). I made sure the mouse settings were set to "Scroll multiple lines" (not pages!) and within the ELAN settings, I made sure it was set to slow. This problem came only started with recent driver updates. When I revert to an older version in Device Manager, it goes back to "ELAN Input Device", version 11.15.0.4, dated beginning of July. Notice how the names differ and the version number is higher although it rolled out later. This driver doesn't feature allow as many gestures to be configered, but the scrolling issue is fixed.I had to use Microsoft's utility to hide updates to prevent the driver from updating again. Anybody have similar issues or workarounds?

Hi, I am running windows 8.1. There was a recent update to my ETDWare ps/2-x64 Elan Driver on 4/2/2017. Specifically, there were THREE Driver Services added (ETD and i8042prt and mouclass) and a Device was installed (oem10inf). Since then, my laptop has been going crazy! It is acting like I have a virus on my laptop, but I eliminated that possibility. It is definitely caused by this update. I cannot rollback this driver. Is it possible for me to install the previous version? Details of what's wrong:When I try to scroll, a round ball with arrows pops up, preventing me from clicking and typing. When I click on open tabs in crowser, it closes them instead of opens them.WHen I click on buttons in windows, sich as "Okay, Close" etc., it does nothing. When I right-click, I cannot click on SAVE or any other option. Please help, I've been going absolutely nuts over this! Thank you,Richard

Hi,
I have upgraded to 8.1 from 8(OEM) through the Store, when I tried to install the ELAN driver for 8.1 from Acer, installer says the driver installed but in device manager it shows only "PS2 compatible driver", the old driver works but it doesn't include "ETDctrl.exe" in Startup, I have to manually start it by going to Control Panel, HW and Mouse.
Is there anyway I could make ETDctrl.exe start when windows start? Thanks in advance for any suggestion and help.

Answer:Unable to install newer driver for ELAN touchpad

Hi ,

You could use task sequencer, so to do this bring up your start screen and type schedule task. Load up that application.

Then right click your task sequencer library and create a basic task. From that you can create a trigger to say when the computer starts load this application.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,
Harry

Hi, I recently purchased a Lenovo Y510p, and the touchpad uses the ELAN software. However, by default, it doesn't seem to allow you to use two fingers to tap for right click, nor three for middle click. After digging into the matter, I discovered you can make some changes by installing Asus Elantech driver 11.5.0.9 to allow you to see many more options in the control panel, and I successfully changed Swapping and 3 and 4 finger touch functions.Despite this, I am struggling to change the double finger tap.Is anyone able to help me with the matter? Many thanks.
