Satellite Pro L850 - Synaptics one-finger scrolling

Question: Satellite Pro L850 - Synaptics one-finger scrolling

I would prefer one-finger scrolling along the right and lower edges of the touchpad (like my old Toshiba Satellite) but this Satellite Pro L850-1MJ has two-finger scrolling in the middle of the touchpad which is counter-intuitive (push up to scroll down) and more importantly means I have to hold my hand in a position which is killing my wrist.

If I go into mouse settings, I can switch on/off the various 'multi-finger' options relating to two-finger scrolling, and there is a separate option 'scrolling' - if I tick the box on I get a little graphic demonstration of one-finger scrolling, but it doesn't actually turn on the one-finger scrolling.

Can I get one-finger scrolling on this laptop? If so, how?

'Settings' tell me I have Synaptics TouchPad v7.5 on PS/2 Port and Synaptics Pointing Device v16.2.10.3 14 Aug 12

Any answers gratefully received, preferably before my wrist drops off!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite Pro L850 - Synaptics one-finger scrolling

I don't know which version and settings do you have but if Synaptic settings on your machine looks like this than don't use ?Two finger scrolling? and enable option ?Scrolling?.
Click on this option and on the animation you will see how it works.

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Answer:Synaptics touchpad V1.2 - no option for one-finger scrolling?

I'm thinking that's on purpose. If you did that, how would you then move the cursor on screen? Single finger is cursor movement, two finger is scroll. It's a touch pad not a touch screen.

From what I can see, this is a common problem with the Synaptics touchpad but the fixes I've found on other websites do not appear to work on my machine. As I understand it, when two-finger scrolling with my touchpad on Windows 10 (in IE11), rather than sending mouse scrollwheel  events, the Synaptics drivers actually control the scrollbar instead.  Whilst this is fine for most sites, it means that zooming doesn't work on Google Maps with the scroll gesture.  I'm also unable to scroll on webpages which have "virtual" scrollbars rather than using IE's native scrolling.  I couldn't remember an example although it appears to even affect elements on a page e.g.http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/complete_examples.htmlNone of the elements scroll with a scroll gesture however if I plug in a mouse with a scrollwheel, they do scroll. Similarly, one can't scroll on this page but can with a proper mouse scrollwheelhttp://alvarotrigo.com/fullPage/  Does anyone know of any kind of fix for this as it's incredibly frustrating! Thanks in advance for any help.

Alright. So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK. Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around. This is extremely frustrating - any help would be great!

running windows 7 64 bit . i have tryed uninstalling the driver and re-installing , re-installing Toshiba value added package and pressing FN F9 none of these have helped

Any ideas what I can try next the laptop is only 2 months old?

Answer:Satellite L850 - Synaptics pointing device has stopped working

If there is no problem for you reinstall OS using HDD recovery installation and test functionality with ?factory settings?. How to do this you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

By the way, if hardware is installed and recognized properly can you enable/disable touch pad using FN+F5 key combination?

Hi again.

Can I configure the clickpad in a way that the two-finger tap emulates the middle (or mouse wheel) click instead of the right click.

I can't seem to find it among the properties of the clickpad.

Thank you very much

Hi

The Synaptics touchpad can be found in
Control panel ? mouse ? last tab ?Device settings? ? ?Settings? button-

(the tab and button name could be different)

If the mentioned option isn?t available in the Synaptics settings, then the option isn?t supported

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 running 32 bit Vista, and I used to be able to scroll with the touchpad, however, it doesn't seem to be working any longer. Also, in the synaptics pointing device program, I am unable to configure actions to the left and right buttons. I checked apoint.exe and it seems to be working fine...does anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it? What should I be reinstalling? It's very annoying and I'd like to be able to scroll without holding the button and dragging. Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A200 Notebook - Synaptics Touchpad Not Scrolling?

It could be a hardware issue.

I had similar problems w/ notebook - mousepad had to be replaced.

You could try to un-install all drivers in Device Manager then re-boot. Vista will re-install. Also make sure to go to OEM site and get updated driver - if available.

Note that you will lose mouse function completely after un-install. Have USB mouse or b/c familar with CTRL-ALT-DEL that will get you to screen so you can use arrow keys to restart system

Hello all.

I see from previous posts that this issue has been addressed in some way or another a few times and I have tried several of the fixes, and have had no success.

1. I have a toshiba L300 next to me(girlfriends), and this feature works fine. V annoying!!
2. I have never been able to enable the scrolling. I know where the setting are and have tried to check/uncheck the boxes/ press 'apply' then ok and the other way around.
3. I have re-installed the drivers from toshiba(synaptics).
4. I have updated the bios from tempro. Although I only registed for tempro recently, the dates on the list of updates seemed fairly old. ie. not much new stuff available anyway.

Thats where im at!
All advice would be apreciated.
Also, are Realtec drives related with the touchpad in some way??
Cheers Phill
I have about a month left on the warranty, so hopefully this would be something that may be covered if no-one can help.

Answer:Satellite Pro A210 touchpad synaptics cannot enable virtual scrolling.

Hello

In my opinion everything you already done is right and I?m really out of idea what you can try except most radical solution ? OS installation with recovery CD/DVD. After doing this you will have ?factory settings? again. As far as I know virtual scrolling is enabled by default and it should work after first start.

So doing this you can make the ?ultimate test? and be sure if this function works or not.

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Thanks

Hi

Running a Lenovo Y500, with the Lenovo Synaptics software (also tried the generic software from Synaptics).

In Windows 8.1, I did the registry fix (adjust 2FingerTapAction value to 2 etc), and i could use it just fine. Seems the reg fix doesn't work in Win 10. The entries are all still there, and I adjusted the values, but still no two finger tap context menu (have to do a two finger click).

Does anyone have a fix/solution (I would prefer NOT to use 3rd party apps)? Thanks for the help!

I own a T61 Thinkpad (type=6465), bought in 2008 and running Ubuntu 10.04. I recently ordered from Lenovo/IBM Parts a new palm rest because its touchpad buttons don't work properly anymore. I was told that I needed a palm rest with the id 42W2958, which had been substituted, for some reason, to part 42W3821 (they said it was compatible though). The new palm rest I received is identical to the original one I had, except for one small but annoying detail: the touchpad hardware doesn't support two finger scrolling, which I use heavily. I tried everything I could to "activate" it (if such a thing is possible) but to no avail. With this command, it's very clear that both hardwares are different: $ xinput list-props "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" | grep Capa
Synaptics Capabilities (291):1, 1, 1, 1, 1 # <- original touchpad (2-finger-scroll = second to last column)
Synaptics Capabilities (291):1, 1, 1, 0, 0 # <- new touchpadCan someone help me figure out a way to solve this problem, in terms of part # I should (try) to replace with, or maybe some magical software solution that I'd have overlooked?

I'm using an HP Spectre x360, with Windows 8.1 (factory installed).  I have the most up-to-date Synaptics touchpad drivers, as obtained from the HP website under my computer model number. The problem is when trying to use the Synaptics 3-finger swipe in Internet Explorer 11.  It does not work reliably.  Sometimes I'll have to swipe multiple times before the swipe will register and the browser will navigate backward or forward accordingly.  It seems as if there's some sort of focus problem, like an initial swipe or two creates the proper focus, and then a final swipe finally causes the appropriate navigation.  The behavior will change depending on the website.  For very simple sites, sometimes a single swipe will suffice, but with more complex sites, the problems tends to surface. Can this be fixed with the Synaptics drivers, with a registry edit, or with some other hack?

I'm hoping someone can help me with some functionality that is reversed from what it is supposed to be... On a web page, the "three-finger flick" gesture on the touchpad allows you to navigate back (flick left) or forward (flick right) (see http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/technology/touchpad for details). On my T440s, that function is oddly reversed. I flick right, and the page goes back, and flick left, and the page goes forward. I installed the latest driver from Lenovo (updated a week ago) and this behavior is persisting, and it's happening in both Chrome and IE. I suppose I can learn to navigate this way, even though it's counterintuitive. Nothing else on the trackpad is working incorrectly, though. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to correct it? Thanks... ...Jay

Answer:T440s Synaptics three-finger flick backward functionality?

I, too, have had the same problem with the three-finger flick gesture. @OP, have you found a solution yet? This feature worked as it should on my old HP Folio.I have updated all the Synaptics and software drivers that came with the T440s to their latest versions. It appears that some versions of the Synaptics software actually allow one to reverse the direction of the three-finger flick - could we have this implemented at least?

There seem to be many Lenovo laptops in which two finger touch to open the right click menu has never worked.  There has only been one driver update for the Synaptics touchpad since my Yoga 900's release in late 2015.  It didn't work on either version of the driver.  Lenovo prevents me from installing generic Synaptics driver updates. On my Yoga 900, there is a registry fix for it.  I am posting it here (much later than I should have) so that other people can find it.  Using Google to search for the fix doesn't provide too much guidance, so hopefully this post will appear in future search results. 1.  Open regedit.  (Just type "regedit" in the search bar at the lower left of your screen.  Click on the "best match" for the search, where it says "Run command" 2.  Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Win10 3.  Right click on the "TwoFingerTapAction" DWORD on the right side of the screen. 4.  Change the value to "2" (without the quotes). 5.  Click OK 6.  Reboot

Hello,I have an issue with the way the T450 multi-touchpad three finger swipe functions are setup. (Windows 8.1, Driver version 18.1.27.14) I'm very happy with the gestures, and very happy with the responsiveness of the touchpad, but have an issue with the directions of the three finger swipe.I have no control over which direction is back and which direction is forward, and the way it is setup on the Lenovo is opposite of what is intuitive and what is divined at the Synaptics.com website.I would expect, and want to swipe left for back, and right for forward, as it is defined on Synaptics own site (and, probably more important for me  how it works on my Mac).Is there a way of changing these swipe direction settings?Kind regards,

I'd like the ability to customize the 3 finger swipe direction, as well.  I know that the T440S has this ability, so it shouldn't be too difficult to add it to the T450.

Here is the support site for the Samsung NP-RV515-A04US laptop:

Select the "Downloads " tab and then select the "Drivers" section and then select the Windows operating system.

The list of device drivers for that laptop will appear.

The touchpad driver package (version 4.1.0.0) contains files for both Elan and Synaptics touchpads.

It's my guess that activating the TouchpadSetup.exe file will detect the correct touchpad and install the correct driver.

I had a problem with two-finger scroll (2FS) in large Word documents. 2FS would not work in the document pane when the file is large. It would continue to work in any of the other panes (e.g., Navigation and Styles).  2FS worked fine in any other program. I tried all of the drivers available from HP and none seemed to work. I reloaded Office and that didn't fix anything. Finally, I went to the Synaptics site and downloaded their base driver for Windows 10 (19.0.19.1). That driver works fine. Not only does the base driver work, it has more features than the drivers available throuh HP. I think that, in the process of defeaturing the driver, something got screwed up. Use the basic Synaptics driver. I have not seen any problems wit the 19.0.19.1 driver.

I have recently bought a Z50-70 laptop and i would like to know if i is possible to preform one finger scrolling instead  of two fingers? My laptop has a synaptics Touchpad V8.1.scrolling for 1 finger is not in device settings of the mouse/touchpad in configuration screen.

Answer:Z50 70 touchpad scrolling one finger?

Hi Cubeblast,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking to perform touchpad scrolling one finger in your Z50-70 laptop.

To perform one finger scrolling go to control panel, select mouse option under mouse select ultranav tab,

Under ultranav select touchpad setting under setting select the drop down option

Under the scrolling, you can find two option as one finger scrolling and two finger scrolling, select the two finger scrolling.

Disable the two finger scroll option by unticking on the enable option, click on apply and ok button and check for the issue.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 with an Alps Touchpad.

I know that there are apps out there that make Synapsis touchpads enable two finger scrolling(like Mac's have) but I cannot find one for Alps Touchpads. Can anyone help me with this? I know about the weird swirly scrolling but I'd really love to have two finger scrolling on my PC without having to go blow a grand on a Mac.

I have a new T410 with UltraNav touch pad that does not always scroll and when it does its very choppy. - I have "Enabled Two-Finger scrolling" checked- Driver provider: Synaptics- Driver date: 4/22/2010- Driver version: 15.0.18.0 I am using windows 7 64bit. My wife has a macbook pro with two-finger scrolling that works flawlessly. Anyone else seen this problem or can point me in the right direction?

Answer:Two-Finger scrolling choppy at best

Put two fingers down on the touch pad then after a moment scroll down. You can't begin scrolling with two fingers right away. You must first "place" them on the touch pad, then drag them down. (This is the way my touch pad works.)

I know it's possible on other makes of laptop so why does lenovo disable the single finger scrolling options in the touchpad configuration ? I have seen this on various different modelsEssentially its just a customised version of the standard Elantech software, you can easily enable it with Acer machines using Elan touchpads for example or Hp  ones with a synaptics touchpad and even on Dell ones using a slight workaround so how come lenovo have the options removed ?I personally don't mind so much but my parents being older struggle to use 2 fingers, having the option to enable it for them would have been a big benefit. As it stands they may well be returning their laptop for an Hp oneIt just seems like a pointless customisation of a perfectly good driver, I could possibly understand it for windows 8.1 with the charms and edge swipe etc but all that has gone with windows 10 anyway so why not have a different version of the driver for use with windows 8.1 and let windows 7 or 10 users be able to use their touchpad in the way they prefer

Answer:turn off two finger scrolling

If you have a Yoga 2 Pro, install the latest Yoga 1 touchpad driver and then Control Panel...Change Mouse Settings...Device Settings...Settings will bring up the Synaptics Control Panel.  In the Multi-Finger tab you'll find checkboxes for Enable Vertical Scrolling and Enable Horizontal Scrolling. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032590

However, when I scroll left the screen moves right and when I scroll right on touchpad, the screen moves left. I want the screen to move the direction I scroll on the touchpad. Is there a way to make this a reality? Thanks for the help.

Hi everyone

I intended to post this one in Tablets & Touch section at first, but since this issue only occurs while using IE 11 -- I thought this may be due to some conflicts or settings change in IE 11 that is causing the issue.
I am using latest WIN 8.1.1 64-bit OS. Just bought this lap 2 months back. I had updated all the drivers, softwares and security patches from manufacturer's site & MS Windows too.
This problem is there right from the beginning. I had also updated my BIOS to the latest given in the HP product site. No drivers or softwares other than those given in product site are installed.
The issue is whenever I start using IE (I have IE11), the touchpad scrolling function freeze for sometime then again revert to normal and it goes on & on while browsing though different webpages irrespective of which one I open. When it start suddenly the touchpad cursor stuck up n immediately gets control of cursor but scroll function still remains inactive. I have not seen this issue otherwise while doing normal windows operations when IE is closed. But issue remains on other operations specifically scrolling through Windows modern apps while IE is open. I may not be able to reproduce this issue at a time specified by you, it just comes & goes intermittently.
I had done troubleshooting for touchpad, and everything went normal. I had looked for any driver issues but could not see any in the device manager. Had unistalled & reinstalled latest version of Synapt... Read more

Now, after a reboot, it doesn't scroll anywhere. According to the settings, the driver has been upgraded(?) to 19.0.13.I haven't tried any rollbacks. Anyone with similar experience?

Hey all, I got this Aspire 5560G about three years ago and it was running Windows 7. I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and have managed to find and install all the drivers I need for my lapop to run smoothly, except for the touchpad. Although it works for moving the cursor and double-tapping to open files etc, it doesn't work to scroll pages. I have tried downloading the latest driver on the Acer Drivers page but it doesn't change any features. Any tips?

Answer:Aspire 5560G - Synaptics Touchpad not Scrolling - ...

It sounds like the synaptics software is not installed.  If the synaptics software is indeed installed, sometimes the scroll function is not enabled and you just need to turn it on.  This is done in the same place where you change the mouse cursor, you should have a synaptics tab.  If its not there, the synaptics software is not installed.

I've had this issue from day 1 when I upgraded to Windows 10. I tried many versions of drivers downloaded and installed from Lenovo support, directly from Synaptics, and also using Windows Update which installed whatever it is that it installs as the driver package. All of them have the same issue -- when using two finger scrolling on the touchpad of my Thinkpad T430 on Windows 10, the cursor freezes for 2-5 seconds and does not respond to the touchpad usage.I am able to scroll without any issue of the kind using two fingers when on Windows 7 with a Synaptics/Lenovo driver, and also on Ubuntu and other Linux Live CDs (which use open source Synaptics driver built into X Windows system). I am suspecting a driver issue, which is buried so deep into Synaptics driver architecture that they are unwilling to do anything about it, with it possibly affecting a minor enough percentage of their users. What I have noticed is that the page fault counter for the SynTPEnh.exe process spikes through the roof when scrolling, at a rate of about a 1000 (!!!) page faults per second (while scrolling) and now sitting at half a million after an hour of desktop usage, fourth place among all processes after Firefox, Windows Defender and Windows Service Host. For a touchpad driver this should be a giant alarm bell ringing. I don't know if this is related to the issue, but it's not a good sign.Anyway, has anyone similar issues, and what can I do about it? I don't want to use the laptop with the default ... Read more

Hello everyone I have a S440 (touch version) and some Problems with two finger scrolling on the touchpad.First, it isn't smooth, i.e.. If I move my fingers it only starts scrolling after a second or so, basically when I've already stopped (unless I move very slow). It then makes up for the lost time by scrolling very fast. The more serious problem (that makes it practically unusable) is that it randomly jumps back up, often to the top of the page/document, sometimes just a page or so. The problems are worst with firefox and acrobat, with IE and the Microsoft reader there's no response time problem but the jumping upwards still occurs. The problem is there with the preinstalled Windows 8 as well as my own Windows 8 Pro (with the original Lenovo drivers). Scrolling with the Trackpoint and an external mouse work fine, as well as scrolling via the touchscreen.  Does anyone have any suggestion if/how I can fix this?

Answer:Problem with two finger scrolling on s440

I had the problem of the page jumping to the very bottom/top on my S431. Try going to device manager and checking the driver version for the driver for the UltraNav pointing device. In my case, after rolling back the driver the problem went away. The version I am using now is 16.4.2.4, I believe the newer driver was something along the lines of 16.6.x.x The synaptics utility for setting up multi-finger gestures will revert to an older version and won't be as pretty anymore, but at least you'll be able to scroll like a normal human being  I hope this will help.

I have seen one or two similar posts, but none quite like the problem I am experiencing, and none with a solution that works for me. Periodically, randomly, the 2 finger scrolling function on my y40 stops working. This used to occur maybe once a week, but recently it's been happening every day, sometimes more than once a day. I cannot determine any cause. Usually I am in google chrome when scrolling stops, but the scrolling stops functioning in all windows-- EXCEPT task manager, for some reason. If I open task manager, I can scroll within that window only, even while scrolling refuses to work in all other windows. Wen scrolling stops, I can still use 2 finger zoom, right-click-- I can do all of the other things I would do, just no scrolling (the one thing I use the most......)My synaptics driver is updated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. Checking and unchecking the 2 finger scroll functionality in synaptics properties does not help. What else can I possibly do to troubleshoot this problem? Right now, the only way I can re-enable 2 finger scrolling is to reboot my system, which is very, very annoying. Any suggestions would be welcome!

What's up everybody! I have a weird case of scrolling behavior in Chrome and Opera browsers. When I do the usual two-finger scrolling, the page "twitches" and "wiggles", sometimes you can see how it tries to increase the scale but then changes its mind - and weird squares around the place, where the cursor used to be, appear and disappear randomly. Almost like the page is not sure if I am scrolling, pinching or just moving the cursor. Worst part, quickly those squares go to the edge of the screen and scrolling simply stops, even the weird sporadic one. Firefox and IE scroll properly, with no apparent problems. Other Windows software scroll properly. The touchpad manufaturer is ALPS, the driver is the latest that tech support could give me. Deep in the driver options, there is an option called Zoom Perfect. When I disable it, scrolling in Chrome starts working as it should - but then two-finger scrolling in other places, like Windows Start Screen stops working at all. Anyone ha? problems like that before? Any known solutions? Thanks in advance.

Just bought  a Carbon X1 with windows 10. Everything works except for scrolling with one finger on trackpad as I always did on my E450. Called support and he installed new drivers but still no scrolling. Trackpad works for cursor movement and clicking. Called support back and fix is to return laptop for motherboard replacement. Seems extreme and last ime I sent in E450 for disk drive and motherboard replacement laptop became erratic. Rather not have even a trained technician opening up a brand new $1500 laptop. I have two questions:1) Should single finger scrolling work on my Carbon X12) Is there a setting for scrolling. I recall on my E450 running windows 10 that I was able to specify where I wanted scrolling to be active on the trackpad (Left edge, right edge and even width of active path.

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I absolutely love the two finger scroll feature. It's very convenient in web browsers and the start menu. However, it doesn't always work, and I can't find a trend for when it works. It simply works sometimes and not others.

Where can I configure the settings so that I always have two finger scroll?

Answer:Two finger scrolling doesn't always work

Thru playing around I found that 2 finger scroll won't work if one finger starts off of the edge of the pad. Make sure that both fingers plant on the pad itself when starting a scroll. I operate my pad with my left hand and I had a lot of trouble accidentally hitting the left edge when I first got win 8. I long ago disabled whatever the left edge swipe was. The same might be true for the right edge for right-handers.

Currently 2 finger scroll is reliable for me. I guess it could also be a driver issue with your particular pad.

Everyone with other manufacturers seem to have ways of increasing the speed by opening up the software specific to the installed hardware, but Dell doesn't seem to have that. And the only scroll speed option that I can find in the mouse options is for a mouse, not a touchpad.
I really want this laptop to work. Please help me.

default windows 8, i couldnt get on with windows 8 unfortunately then it went totally crazy so i installed a copy of windows 7 ultimate x64
with windows 8 my mouse pad was awesome, swipe pinch zoom two finger scroll etc.

now with windows 7 nothing, not even the side scroll section of the pad works just normal mouse navigation and button clicks

ive installed every driver under the sun ALL of them, old, new, windows 8, windows 7, 32bit, 64bit,
when i install synaptics it says its a regular ps2 mouse and pad no settings for multi touch

im not a total noob so i went through all the stuff i know and checked forums even downloaded gesture suite which couldnt intall due to errors, then cant uninstall synaptics drivers with revo uninstaller due to some dll error so uninstalled with device manager and deleted the registry entries with revo, but when i reboot windows auto installs drivers

i even went to settle with two finger scroll app, and that came with error no touchpad, but i must have a touch pad because it worked with windows 8
basically i cant get it to work, lol, cant take it anymore! how can i fix it chaps???

all of the drivers are working fine

ive honestly got all of the drivers 10/15 different drivers

I like to scroll in the direction the text is hidden. For example, if I want to scroll DOWN, I swipe DOWN on the touchpad. This works fine in webpages, open windows, documents, etc. However, in the Start Menu or any other Settings menu in Windows 10, the scrolling is reversed. If I swipe DOWN, the screen goes in the opposite way of what I expect. This is only happening in the Windows Menu and Setting Menus.  I had synaptics driver have the inverted scrolling off.  How do I make it so that the scrolling direction is uniform EVERYWHERE?

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard. Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture. Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

Hi, I just received my new HP Envy 14 today and I'm having some issues with it. In the instructions, it says that two finger scrolling and zoom is a feature on this laptop, but it isn't working a bit for me. Also, very often when i try to left click, nothing comes up. This happens a lot on the desktop when trying to right click multiple files selected. This is my first windows 7 pc. Is this some hidden feature that I'm unaware of? Thanks.

Hello, every time I attempt to use 2-finger scrolling or right click it doesn't work at all. I tried switching the left and right click buttons and the right click works as left click, so I assume this is a software issue. Please help! I am using a ThinkPad T520 with Windows 10.

Thinkpad E540, Windows 8.1

The touchpad has been bugging randomly throughout the year, but this time the two finger scrolling has completely stopped working

I have tried disabling and enabling, reinstalling drivers, resetting to default, nothing is fixing it.

Hi there, I've had my X1 Yoga for a while now, and two-finger scrolling in all apps seem to be great. But for some reason, two finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu is NOT great. It's super glitchy and seems to stop abruptly. Normally if you swipe down and lift your fingers, there's still some inertia that will continue the scrolling a bit - but the start menu seems to stop instead of continuing with inertia among other issues. Long story short - two-finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu sucks on my X1 yoga. Is anyone else with an X1 Yoga having this issue? Is there any way to fix this? I can post a video to show what i'm talking about if needed. Thanks!

Hello, I want to know how to turn on vertical and horizontal edge scrolling using only one finger on my IdeaPad 700 touchpad. When I go to Control Panel -> Mouse Settings, I only see the vertical and horizontal edge scrolling options as two-finger touchpad functions. Is there a different driver I can install? Previous Lenovo models have allowed me to scroll with only one finger, and that's my preference. If I can't get that to work, I'd rather return the laptop. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if these are related problems but sometime the two finger scrolling doesn't work for my laptop, and I had just got it for the start of the school year in September. The touchscreen scrolling works fine though. Also sometimes my keyboard won't type anything either, and this includes no response from the touchscreen keyboard either, so they both just freeze. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Answer:z400 two finger scrolling and keyboard sometimes don't respond

It also seems for the touchpad the gestures for zoom in and out don't respond either though if I do alt and "+" or "-" the screens zoom in and out accordingly.

I have a G510 running Windows 8.1 and have the ELAN Smart-Pad software.  It took me a while to get used to the new gestures on Windows 8, but was finally enjoying scrolling down webpages by using 2 fingers and swiping to the right (down) and left (up).  I was using the laptop and closed my programs an d closed the lid to have some lunch.  When I came back, I could no longer scroll down on a webpage by 2 finger swiping to the left or right.  In order to scroll up or down now, I have to use the 2 fingers and swipe up and down.  Before this incident, I was able to use either way, 2 finger swipe to the right, left, up, and down.   I have tried restarting my computer, rolling back the driver, re-installing the new driver.  I also opened up the mouse settings in ELAN and reset everything back to default.  I've double and triple checked that both "Vertical" and "Horizontal" scrolling is checked and enabled.  I've restarted my computer a total of about 10 times now trying everything I can think of.  Nothing works.  I haven't downloaded any updates lately at all and this just happened out of nowhere.  I've googled and searched these threads and have found nothing that describes my problem exactly, although there are some similar issues.  Can someone help?  Thanks in advance.

Answer:2 Finger Swiping for Scrolling Not Working All of the Sudden

hi AJL127,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check, is the Touchpad Edge Swipes enabled under PC Settings? If this setting is disabled, can you follow method one of the guide below and observe

Touchpad Edge Swipes - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

Also, if you're using other browsers, you may wanna try the Vertical/Horizontal scrolling feature first on Internet Explorer and observe.
