Portege M930 digitizer pen spare

Question: Portege M930 digitizer pen spare

Hi,

I'm having a little difficulty finding replacement /spare digitizer pens for my M930 Portege- I still have the pen that Came with it, but I am notorious for losing this sort of thing so I'd like to be ready for the inevitable and know where I can get spares before I'm stuck without one!

Please note I am only after the pen that came with the M930- l am aware l Can use wacom pens, or other digitizer pens but I really want the same as I have so it will still slot into the laptop, as soon as the pen has to stay separate I'll be losing them all the time and at $30-40 a pop that'll get expensive quick! I've looked through the manual and cant find a part number for it, nor has google found much of use.

Do you know where I can get another M930 digitizer pen? =)
Thanks for any help! ~ Ash C

Preferred Solution: Portege M930 digitizer pen spare

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I guess if you want to use exactly the same pen which was delivered with the Portege M930, you should contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country. The service guys should be able to order such part (if available) directly from Toshiba main warehouse

Got one of these

https://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/tablet/m930/pdw04a-00c001/specifications

No longer able to use finger input on touchscreen.
Pen works on touchscreen OK.

It is as if I have accidently disbled it somehow.

Can't find any reference to a key or switch to enable/disable finger input on touchscreen in pdf manual or google.

Does anyone know how to re enable the finger input for the touch screen on a toshiba portege tablet M930?

Anyway, all parts could be ordered directly from local Toshiba authorized service provider.

Hi

When I turn the display off, the touchscreen and digitizer are still enabled, so, if I touch the screen, the display comes back on. Any way to solve this?

Also, not sure if related, if I turn the screen off and leave it overnight, the battery drops by 25-30% in about 8 hours. Same thing happens when I leave the screen turned off for a short period of time, the battery just doesn't last. Not sure if its because the touchscreen and digitizer are still on.

P.S. Running on upgraded Windows 10 64bit.

Quick question - will a keyboard for a Portege S100 work in a Portege M100?

Layout looks similar; albeit a different colour.

Answer:Will a keyboard for a Portege S100 work in a Portege M100?

Hi

I think you cannot use the same keyboard because the Portege S100 supports the an-easy-to-use 84-key (US) or 85-key (UK) keyboard and the Portege M100 supports the an-easy-to-use 85/86-key keyboard.
Furthermore the connector of the S100 supports the CN3230 keyboard interface 34 pin connector and the M100 supports the PJ3230 keyboard 34pin connector.

So possibly this could be a problem.
I recommend using the original keyboards released for the each notebook model.

Well, I've got a Portege R100 with a broken display which I'd like to fix. And I've got a Portege 2000 and a M100 with working display.

Will it fit on my R100? They look the same!
Thanks fo any hints!

Answer:Can I use display from Portege 2000 or M100 on Portege R100?

Yes you can.

These notebooks, Port?g? 2000, Port?g? M100 and Port?g? R100, use the same 12.1" 1024x768 TFT color display.
I don?t see any problems with the replacement and fitting element

Which Gaming Case would you buy and why?

If you can, can you tell me if the "why" is because of first hand experience or reviews on some other site?

I am ready to pull the pin on a case since I seem to be having issues with high temps with the case I own right now and I am not handymand enough to dremmel the hell out of it to install more fans.

I have look, search, read and read some more but there are to many options and I will like to know what you guys use and how you like them so far.

Answer:If you had about 150 to 175 to spare...

I have an old Dell Dimension 8250. I believe the specs are P4 2.0 HT, 768mb RD-RAM, 2 Optical Drives, and I have a slew of HDD from 80GB to 120GB (all IDE though).

No matter what, the machine has to be set up as I'm working with Fedora in one of my networking classes and don't feel like screwing up my main gaming rig (first time using Linux). So I'll use the Dell to experiment with.

since I have to set it up, I was really thinking about turning it into a server of some sort. However, I'm not really sure exactly what to do with it :-/. It's only me and my dad on my home network, so it's not like we need a server. However, it would be cool if my family could access files remotely. I mainly just want to experiment with having a server, and Linux at the same time.

Some ideas I had were a Print Server, File Server, Ventrilo Server and/or a backup server (store backups of our main machines). However, would the Dell be able to handle all of that? There wouldn't be a lot of traffic at all. Like I said, there's only two of us. As for family hitting up the FTP, it would be tops, 3 other PCs.

Ventrilo would have to be a must as we use it practically every night with total of 4 clients on at once (2 of the 4 are within my home network).

My current home connection is 10mbps down and about 750kbps up. Is that too slow for what I want? The FTP wouldn't be used for huge files. Mainly pictures, utilities, game patches, etc. Also, at first, I w... Read more

Answer:Spare box - What to do with it?

Sounds like you've got some good ideas already. If you're worried about screwing up your gaming rig, and playing with Linux, I would just install VMware and create virtual machines so you can destroy at-will if/when you do screw them up.

VMware Server is a free product.

Hi there, I have an X61 tablet, 7767 A4U, and want to buy a new digitizer pen. I come to ask if I can use a X41 or any other digitizer in my touch-laptop? By the way, can I make my screen finger-touchable, just through updating the software? My computer is only penable now, not for finger-touch. Thanks.Xiaodong

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------TPs own: X31 (2003), X61T, X200T, Tablet 2, P50 (2016); Win 7/8.1/10, Ubuntu8.04-16.04.

Answer:What digitizer can I use?

i believe an x41 pen will work but it probably won't fit in your holder and the eraser won't work. a gateway m275 pen will also work but again no eraser and it probably won't fit the holder.  i'm using an x41 pen in a gateway m275 tablet and it works fine. check in device manager under human interface devices and see if there is anything listed like, touch panel driver or HID-wacf008 or Gunze. not all x61's came with multi-touch screens.  from what i understand the viewing quality of the multi-touch is less than the pen version. probably because of the extra layer on the screen.  if you had multi-touch it would respond to your finger.

thinkvantage toolbox...it shouldve came preinstalled in your system. you can check support.lenovo.com and look at the driver downloads, however, im not sure if they phased out that program. the program that the guy was using on youtube is called windows journal. but other programs that you can directly write on are outlook office (however, only outlook to outlook office users can see each others drawings), microsoft office one note, microsoft word, and grahl pdf annotator. personally, i use grahl pdf annotator and one note the most for school

Question: X60 Digitizer Pen

I have posted before about my recently acquired X60T having a gap all round between the screen and the bezel. This is making me very, very nervous about the use of the pen with Windows 8, because of the sharp glass edge that the pen needs to move across. The pen that came with the machine has no Lenovo part number, but it seems to work well. I ordered a cheap spare pen with spare nibs from ebay. It also has no part number, although the advert said"IBM LENOVO ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201 W700 Tablet Digitizer STYLUS PEN 39T7481" The pen shown in the advert has a grey piece at the rubber (as opposed to the nib) end, as does the pen that came with the tablet, but the ebay pen that came has a red rubber end. When I move this pen round on the screen, a spot moves under it, and it highlights things, but I cannot make it click anything. Similarly it won't draw in Paint like the older pen. Is it faulty, or is it a different type of pen? I am trying a possible fix found elsewhere on the net, of removing the nib and lying it on its side for 24 hours. What I really need to know id whether I need to replace the screen bezel or whether there is some magic gunge i can use to fill the gap.

Answer:X60 Digitizer Pen

The pen supplier hasn't yet replied, although it's early days, and thescreen bezel is still a problem. An additional slightly odd problem is that the Windows 8 pen calibration utility seems to throw the pen calibration off rather than improve it. I am holding the pen vertical to do this. Do I have to accept that pen actions are flaky with an older machine like this and Win8. The machine is otherwise extremely good for doing what I want - controlling a graphics intensive audio program - and seems far more suitable than my son's newish touch screen Acer Win8 converible device.

Question: Digitizer PEN ?

Hi, I have a ThinkPad model SL410 and wonder if it supports a digitaizer pen that would data input instead of a keyboard (input).   Have looked at the Lenovo's specs for SL410.  It did not come across as such.  But it seems that pen input technology should be picking up now....  idea / thoughts / info / pointer ? Thanks.

Hi,I've been using a Wacom Intuos3 tablet (digitizer tablet/pen/mouse) with my Thinkpad SL300 (Vista Business) for over six months, and I have yet to encounter any issues with the hardware, software, or drivers.    Even when alternating between the pen and Microsoft  wireless keyboard and mouse accessories, my computer has yet to slow down or shut down on me.  The Tablet PC Input Panel of  Windows XP/Vista/7 makes the pen work with pretty much any application for more info, go here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms818563.aspx .I recommend checking out Wacom's website to see what kinds of requirements exist for some of the products out on the market now ( http://www.wacom.com/index2.php ).  I hope that this helps!  Good luck! -Meg

Question: digitizer pen

I have just recently bought an i7 Lenovo Yoga pro 2. As many of you may know, it does not come with a digitizer pen. I would like to purchase one but I am not sure what to get. Please help me with suggestions.

Answer:digitizer pen

Good afternoon and welcome to the community.

The Yoga 2 Pro doesn't have a digitizer. The panel is 10-finger capacitive touch. That said, there are a number of capacitive stylii available, but I don't have experience with them , so I can't offer a recommendation.

Hopefully other members will join the discussion with their experiences that will aid your decision.

If it is XP then probably no. The installation is in effect tied to the hardware on which the installation is undertaken.

XP Pro.I would like to use it as a slave backup but when I've done this before in ME, I've had a few problems. Ghost, which I have, will transfer everything and perhaps this is where my past problems arise. I've never quite understood all the facilities of Ghost and perhaps someone could help me on this one, the image facility as an example.Or, maybe I can just 'slave' the spare drive and fdisk it in such a way that it appears as a D drive which would allow Drag and Drop.Another thought was to put a cradle in the tower front spare position and use the spare HD in that fashion by popping it in and out as required.Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Answer:Spare 40G HD..want to use it to best advantage.

You can see how to use Ghost in these tutorials, Derek. click hereThat would be a good way to go to ensure that you have a complete backup in case of a disaster with your main XP installation. You could also, as you say, format the spare, (fdisk and format if it's a new drive) and use it as your D: drive for backing up files, using drag and drop.

Question: Spare Parts

Hi guys, a question about transferring parts from an old pc to a new one. I've recently bought a new Packard Bell 1605 imedia with 512 ram and 200gb hard drive. My previous pc is a several years old compaq with 256 ram and a 7gb hard drive, which I intend to keep as a back up. As it's just sitting there doing nothing, I wondered what parts I can transfer over to my new pc.

The 256ram is the obvious one, but I'm not sure if it would be compatable from such an old machine, also I only seem to see ram figures doubling ie 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, so would it be ok to have an "odd" ram figure of 768 and would it make a great deal of difference? And is it an easy task to perform, having never done it before?

Secondly, the 7gb hard drive - although the actual 7gb's won't make much of a difference to the 200gb's I've now got, is there a benefit to having a slave drive as well as a master albeit very small in comparison?

And a final, unrelated, hardware question, I occasionally receive a message in my sys tray telling me that the hardware wizard has detected new hardware (an unknown usb device) that would work faster if it was connected to a high speed hub/port, but I haven't installed anything - any ideas?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi, I have a spare HDD containing the XP-OS which i took out of a laptop when i fitted a bigger drive, if i get another laptop in need of attention could i just put the HDD i have in it, and it would be all sorted?thanks

Answer:Spare HDD in another laptop?

Sort of...If you also have the XP Pro CD (because you will have to do a repair install) it will work but isn't ideal. And if you have the XP CD then you can format the drive and install XP anyway. If you get the exact same model laptop, then this drive should install fine.Having said that, it's not a good idea to do it because of all sorts of driver issues with new hardware.

I will be ordering a W510 soon.  I would like an extra battery.  Should I go with the 27++ slice battery or a second 25++ standard 9-cell?  Is there an advantage to either one?

the slice battery is attached to the bottom of the laptop, and can be used in conjunction with your normal battery, which pretty much double the running time.

I've accumulated enough old parts to assemble a PC from, more as a "hobby" project than actual need. I have three ideas for the OS. First the hardware:

Athlon 64 X2 6400+
AM2+ Motherboard
4GB of DDR2 800 RAM
128GB SSD

Definitely not going to set the world on fire, but it would be fine for a backup PC for browsing or playing old games. My OS choices are Windows 7 OEM for about $80 (Newegg often has it on sale for that). Only bad thing is that its tied to that one hardware setup and since the hardware is pretty old that might not be a wise choice. Second choice is Windows 8.1 full version for $107.00. That I can moved from PC to PC. Third choice is a dual boot with Windows XP and a Linux distro. I can keep the XP side offline after April. That choice would cost me nothing (and give me a chance to learn something about Linux). What would you do? Also, if I keep the XP side of a dual boot without a network connection, would it still be vulnerable if I have the PC hooked up to the internet (for the Linux side)?

Answer:Spare Parts PC - Which OS to Get?

If you have an SSD, I wouldn't use less than 7. As for whether you should use 7 or 8, only you can answer that.

Okay, so I have a spare BP6 with dual Celeron 400mhz's chips. I want to install Linux on it so that I can understand it better but at the same time, I want it to actually do something in terms of my network - partially because I just want to learn (I know that sounds crazy, but bear with me)

Possible idea's I had were:
-File server (though not a necessity as I already have one)
-Home automation server (if I do this, I'll hook my sprinkler system up to this along with some lights and what not - however I'm not sure if it will be Linux-friendly)
-Firewall (though what will this do to my pings?)
-Web Server (but will it handle things okay? I have 6mb up/394kb down, and all it would be hosting would be pictures for family to view, besides would Comcast be okay with this?)
-FTP Server (but what would I use this for exactly?)

Answer:What to do with spare box to help me learn?

Comcast TOS Prohibited Use said:

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Service is for personal and non-commercial use only and you agree not to use the Service for operation as an Internet service provider, a server site for ftp, telnet, rlogin, e-mail hosting, "web hosting" or other similar applications, for any business enterprise, or as an end-point on a non-Comcast local area network or wide area network.Click to expand...

But really ehy don't care as long as you don't guzzle up bandwidth.

So:

File Server: Even if it isn't a necessity, it would be a good reason to learn how to us Samba on different Linux distros.

Web Server: Yes, Comcast will more than likely be ok with this, as long as you don't go using tons of bandwidth (which I doubt you will just from pics).

FTP Server: I find this useful if I ever need to copy things on and off my computer from just about anywhere. Very easy, and you won't need any third-party software in location you don't own.

For Web/FTP you could try Ubuntu Server. In the disc menu it has the option: Install LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) Server. This auto configures most things you'll need for a webserver. After that just setup an FTP on it and you're good.

You can find all of your TOS here: http://www.comcast.net/terms/

If you have any questions just ask.

I run both VMware Player and VirtualBox in my Win 7 x64. VMware has XP and Vista as guest systems, VBox has Ubuntu, and it's all pretty amazing - to me anyway. I would love to have Win 98SE in there too, but installing Win 98 requires a Win 98 boot floppy and a Win 98 CD. No prob with the CD, as I can use an ISO, but finding a virtual floppy drive that runs in Win 7 x64 SP1 in which I can mount a Win 98 boot disk image has defeated me.

Anyone else with too much time on their hands fancy having a shot at this?

Answer:Something to have a go at in your spare time

In some virtual machines you can mount a floppy image, I thought.
I guess you've tried VFD from Sourceforge then? (http://vfd.sourceforge.net/)

If not take an img file from here
Using a tool like ultraiso , make your WIN98 disk image. (ISO)
Then load the Win98 ISO and select bootable& load boot file - browse to the img you downloaded & select it, then write out a bootable Win98 ISO.

VBox should boot from the img file too.

Question: IInfected spare

I know my backup/spare pc is full of infections what should I do? I got the computer for free but I know its full of some trojans and some stuff? Where should I post? ANYWAYS I PLAN TO JUST USE RECOVERY DISK AS THERE ARE NO FILES OF IMPORTANCE BUT SOME MP3s, so could I backup the mp3s and then use recovery disk, will that solve the problem? I have been waiting until that other computer is healthy until I mess with this one. Now that the other computer is healthy I have no real desire to clean this one if I can just reformat it

and about the mp3s I realize I can put to my iPod so what is the easiest way to clear this up?

Thanks

Answer:IInfected spare

It's your decision...but if someone gave me an infected system...first thing I would do is eliminate everything that came on the hard drive, I would destroy any existing partitions and do a fresh, clean install of XP.Even if I know the types and extent of infections and system compromises such system might contain...I believe in starting with a "known good", as opposed to tryiing to "clean up" a "known not good."Others will have differing opinions.I'd forget about the .mp3s also. Theoretically, they might be safe..but malware is often not what it seems to be and I would see no point in taking the gamble. You might look at some of the topics Here.Louis

Hi there

My parents computer suddenly stopped having access to the internet last night. The thing is, it does connect to the internet, however if you download something the download will only work for around 2-3 seconds before it freezes. Browsing the Internet takes hours to open websites (for example, i tried to open this website on their pc, but it took me >40 minutes just to log on). The actual PC is fine in itself, it isn't runnign any slower than normal speed, its just this problem with the internet. I ran ad aware and Search and destroy, it came up with a few things which i deleted but nothing changed. I've emptied the cache, cookies and temp files. also run > %temp% folder is empty.

I had a look at hjt log but im not too sure about this, i can see some faults sometimes, but not everything. I'll post a copy of the log at the end.

I'm wondering if maybe this i more of a hardware issue They say they have had the modem for nearly two years, and i spent 4 hours looking at it today but with no conclusion... please help!

Thanks a lot, here is a copy of the hjt log, they are runninf Windows XP Pro, internet explorer. Sorry if the version is out of date, i could not download a newer version on there PC unfortunatly.

Question: Spare Sky Router

Hi, Sky in there wisdom sent tme two routers!! I have mailed them countless times to arrange collection.Thay have not responded once. If I decide to sell it on, is there any setting I need to remove?

Answer:Spare Sky Router

If you sell them on, they'll only work on Sky connections. They automatically log into the service with you username and password which is coded into the router so it's pretty restricted.

Hey folks. I have this spare machine laying around (AMD Athlon X2 5000+, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, GeForce 9500 GS) and I was wondering what OS I should put on it. It's not going to be an everyday usage computer but I don't know whether to make it a server or a media center. My primary machine has Win7 Pro x64 and my roommate's machine has Vista x64, and while 7 is obviously a fantastic OS, I wonder if something different might be better. Any advice?

Answer:Spare computer, what OS to put on it?

How about Windows Home Server?

If it does have a tuner card i would also vote for Media center and share what it tapes.

I have a system that I just use as a spare computer to run Folding @Home and for my 3 year old to play a few games on...

very old PCI vid card (matrox) with 4mb mem (w00t!!)

is there any reason to install DirectX9 on this system??
as far as I am aware DX is just for graphics, etc...

I have not left any security holes by not installing it have I?

Any thoughts?

Answer:DX9 on spare computer?

most of the time you can just wait until you rquire a new version of directx to actually install it. The means a game or something else needs it. Security is more dependent on the windows update security pataches.

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

Hello all.Sorry if this has been covered elswhere, but I couldn't find info on it anywhere. Does anyone know, if I order a W700 with just the pantone calibrator and fingerprint scanner, and NOT the wacom digitizer, will it still have an 'empty/non-functioning' digitizer section as part of the case, and a hole in the side for the pen? I already own a full size tablet which I'll be using with the machine, and I'd find it aesthetically annoying to still have the non functioning parts built into the case. I'd appreciate any info, especially any links to pics of w700 models without digitiser sections in the case (if they exist)Thanks alot.jesse.

Answer:W700 Without Digitizer

I do not know Lenovos manufacturing practices, I am expecting delivey of my first lenovo, a w700ds very soon!! But according to the thinkpad w700/w700ds hardware maintenance manual (downloadable from the lenovo website), there is 3 specific part numbers for,... 44C9504 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader44C9505 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader and color sensor44C9506 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader, colorsensor, and digitizerSo as a very good guess, I would expect Lenovo to configure your machine without a redundant digitizer. Especially since they are known for build quality. I hope this helps, argh

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

If it has the Lenovo P/N 0B42547 you should be good. I've seen these on eBay, so you would expect those to work. If this is the case with the one you bought, could be a faulty pen. Good luck.

Question: Cracked Digitizer

Hi everyone,

It seems i've cracked the digitizer on my laptop and now the touch function doesn't work properly. While the display still works fine there's a giant crack across the screen and it's really annoying. I had to disable the touch via Hardware Manager because it was really going haywire.

Hallo, I own a x61tablet with 223 days of warranty left.A few weeks ago the "right-click" button on my digitizer pen broke and is probably still stuck inside the pen holder device.I couldn't verify this because I do not want to open it myself due to the warranty restrictions. However the drop-out mechanism of the penholder does still hold the pen but won't release is properly. Now there is a possibility, that the "right-click" button got lost a long time ago and that the created gap on the pen is responsible for the jam inside the holder. Is there a way to just get the pen fixed without sending in the whole tablet?I need it every day.

Can someone help please?Online Shop One pcs High Quality Black Outer Front Glass Lens Repair Parts For Nokia Lumia 730 LCD Screen Digitizer Pannel Replacement+Tools|Aliexpress Mobile

Answer:Replacing my 730's digitizer

There is a connector on the top right hand side.(the picture in the link you provided)
are you replacing it by yourself ? (better get it done by a professional)
because its not that easy.
the display and the touch panel is a single unit, glued on by Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive.
In the OEM version display and touchpanel comes as a single unit.
However if you manage to seperate the display and touchpanel you can use what you showed in the link.
I know this because ive had the same experience with my Nexus 7 . I ended up replacing the whole display unit.
Make sure you get the OEM one, because it is uncertain that other touchpanels available online are guaranteed to work properly, with your device.
The best option is to get it to a mobile repair shop if you have one nearby, they will get it working for you.

It depends on where it is stuck.  Sometimes you can separate the keyboard bezel from the lower case, just slightly, and the pen will come out.  You can also use tweezers to see if you can grap the pen clip and pull it out.

Hi
I've acquired an old PC and I'm hoping I can run Windows 10 on this, but I'm doubtful that it is high enough spec, so I would appreciate some advice from any of you who have tried this, please
**Spec for old PC - AMD Athlon 3gHz, 1Gb RAM, 20Gb HDD
Running XP**
I have two 'old' HDD, one is 40Gb, other is 80Gb, so may be useful (assuming they still work)
Needless to say, I'm not prepared to use my main PC but might consider 'virtual' OS if you guys have experience of this and are confident there is no issue.
So, what I'm asking is "Is this a possible project or a non-starter, with the 'old' PC as mentioned above?
Many thanks for your help. As always, it's much appreciated. I look forward to hearing your opinions ;)

You cannot connect two routers to one phone line. What you can do is use a wireless repeater or homeplugs to improve the signal in other areas of the house. If you Google those terms if you're unfamiliar with them, you'll see how they can help.

Question: Epson spare parts

Anybody know where I can get a replacement ac adapter for Epson Perfection 1670 scanner, I've looked all over the web to no avail. Any help in pointing me in the right direction much appreciated.

Answer:Epson spare parts

Check the specification plate on the old adapter if you have it, or look for details in the manual / on the scanner itself which will tell you the output voltage, current rating and current type (usually DC, indicated by 2 parallell lines, one solid and one dashed). You can then get a replacement from places like Maplins (click here) or Ebuyer (click here)- ebuyer is cheaper, but in a maplins store you will get advice.

The burning starts up OK and then freezes when I get to the last folder and the program stops responding. What can I do? If I restart the laptop I find that the files on the DVD have disappeared, but the dvd show as having no space.
Help, please. If the folder is too large, what is the largest size that would 'work'?

Answer:How much spare space do I need when burning to a DVD?

It could be the old nut of how many MB in a GB. Manufacturers say 100 but actual is 1024. So your disc is actually 4.277 GB. Just over the limit for you. Usually DVD discs are marked as 4.7 GB not 4.38 though.

I just can't work this out. I design My Web Page and use all the available (default) width, 720pixels yet when viewed in the browser there is a Bus Lane down the the right side... Help!Hanx!K.

Answer:720 pixels wide and 300 to spare...

because your screen will be at least 800 pixels wide, probably more, so there will be spare space - if you centred it you'd have two smaller bus lanes either side; might look better!

I?ve been testing Windows 7 since Beta, and currently run RC.

Before I installed W7 I?d just built a new PC, with the following hard drive configuration:

320GB SATA (System)
750GB SATA (Data)

My system disk had Windows XP installed with all its apps etc, and my data drive contained all my documents etc.

For the purpose of testing Windows 7, I bought an additional disk to run it from:

80GB SATA (Windows 7 System)

My 320GB XP disk has been redundant for a while now, but I?m now ready to go full time with 7, and having just purchased Home Premium, I plan to install it, clean and fresh on to my 320 system drive, overwriting XP.

I can?t decide what to do with my now spare 80GB SATA drive that will become redundant. It?s too small for backups (I have a 250GB ext USB drive for this), and I was thinking about using it to run XP from in the case I need it ? but I was hoping W7 VM would take care of that (not WXP mode)

It?s a fairly decent disk so I?m reluctant to let it gather dust but I fear that?s what will happen.

Any suggestions?

Answer:What to do with spare hard drive?

you could use freecycle.com someone would be glad of a 80gb h/drive for an older pc.

Even the F/S site makes no reference to the battery replacement for this model. Plenty of new Pi2515's for sale.Is anyone else having problems with getting a spare battery for this model.Any advice r suggestion would be greatly appeciated.

Answer:Spare Battery Problem

Have you tried looking for the battery model number. Not the laptops model number.I had this problem with a Toshiba satelite. BUT found a seller through Amazon when I searched for the battery number.D

for a Compaq Presario 1215. Somebody gave me one to mess with and I'm bored so I thought I'd see what I could do with it.

I just wanted to find a list of compatible parts. I can already tell that one speaker's shot and the battery is near dead.

Any old computer would do. Buy a spare one with the same slot/socket, that's probably the best. It depends on it's age if you can get hold of parts. Some of them are rare.

Question: Dell Spare Parts

Well, I just called Dell Spare Parts to ask what the cost would be for the XPS 730x motherboard C771N and XPS 730x Intel 940 processor G441M. Barely 2 minutes into the call, Julia hung up on me...FOR NO REASON!!!!! I called right back using her extension and whaddya know, I'm told I need to leave a message. Dell must have a requirement for people to have an I.Q. lower than 70 if they want to operate the phones.

Then, I call back a second time. Mark proceeds to tell me that maybe I should upgrade my hard drive and ram and I replied that I have 10,000rpm Raptor hard drives and 4gb of ram, I don't need to upgrade either of them but that I want to upgrade my chipset and cpu to the latest technology. He then tells me that I need to be transferred to tech support to make sure it would be compatible with my system. I tell him that I have an XPS 730 and I know it's compatible but he proceeds to transfer me anyway. Then, tech support transfers me back to sales.

This time, I finally have someone who knows what's going on. However, she asks me why I want to change my chipset and cpu, what has happened to my computer? I tell her nothing, I just want to upgrade. I give her the part number for the Core i7 chipset and she asks where I got this information and I tell her from Dell Chris M, the desktop liaison for the Dell support forum. The price for the chipset...$569. She tells me they're not allowed to sell the processors and I tell her that she's misinformed because I have the par... Read more

Answer:Dell Spare Parts

Well, yeah, you are always better off when seeking high performance to build it yourself.. Dell just like all the others are proprietary machines.. they will always limit you.

Ok... so I've got a couple issues with my pc.
The main issues are home page settings... popups... and ocational errors.. sometimes folders will close or explorer will close with an error message.

I'm running Windows 2000. I have Norton & AdAware.
Norton didn't find anything. Adaware found a bunch of stuff, which I deleted. However a few things keep reapearing... Sometimes I'll delete everything and run the scan again immediately after that and the same few things will show up in the scan.
I did change the view settings, so I can now see the hidden and system file folders. After I did that and ran Adaware, I was able to find an .exe file that I hadn't seen before. I deleted that, and that was gone for good. But I still see these same few things when I run it twice in a row….these things stay every time.

CoolWebSearch Object found in memory (C:\WINNT\winnt256.bmp:uceis)
I think this is the file that’s causing my problems… but I can’t seem to delete it.
There is a file I can see called winnt256.bmp but it does not have that last part (uceis) on it.

Answer:Hijack this log.... when someone has some time to spare

I also ran CWShredder & SpyBot Search & Destroy.
Both found a few things, but I think they were just things that had infected my computer as a result of my initial problem...and from continuing to use IE? I say this, because when I ran AdAware after that I still got the same 4 entries showing up.

Also, I tried to end the process... winnt256 .. but it won't let me.

And... I started windows in safe mode, ran Adaware, and "deleted" those things that keep showing up. Then I ran it a second time, as I usually do, and they were gone. I though I might have fixed the problem. I restared my computer in normal mode and ran Adaware again, but unfortunately they were back.

Again, Thanks to anyone who can help.

I'm living in Belgium, where I bought my computer like 5 years ago, and I want to buy a new AC adapter, because the original one is no in the best shape right now.

Answer:Where to buy in Belgium an spare AC adapter

You will need the complete product name for that. You have only provided a partial product name for your notebook. Remove the battery and look at the service tag to find that. Just do a search online with Google or whatever is your favorite search engine with HP Pavilion dv7-xxxxxx and voeding as the keywords.  The search result should be a list of vendors selling ac adapters compatible with your notebook.
