Qosmio DX1210 wont boot - Bios update failed

Question: Qosmio DX1210 wont boot - Bios update failed

I tried to do a BIOS update on my DX1210 last night to version 1.5,
During the update there was a write failed error message and now the system won't boot.
Is there a way to reflash the bios when a bios update fails?
I've got all the bios files extracted on to a USB key but I'm not sure what to do to initate a bios recovery?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Qosmio DX1210 wont boot - Bios update failed

Well, BIOS problems can be solved only by an Toshiba authorized service partner.
I assume the ROM module where the BIOS is stored, has not been flashed properly.
The Rom module can be flashed again using an special crisis disk.

Therefore I see just one real option for you: get in contact with the service guy to get it fixed.

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....

Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.

I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time,

Answer:Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi mate,

Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really won?t boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.

I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner| 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and it?s just some BIOS related thing.

Hope your machine will work again..

G'day all,

As a favour to a friend, I upgraded her laptop's (model above) RAM (to 8GB) and her HDD to an 256GB SSD. After physically installing the new devices, restoring using the recovery disk, upgrading her Windows 7 x64 to Professional everything seemed fine. So I decided to apply the Toshiba Service Station recommended updates, one of which was the BIOS 2.70. Downloaded it, and pressed install... stepped through - restarted and got into the wizard where it warns me that there may be no screen, and only the blinking power indicator as activity - I then initiated the BIOS upgrade.

After 60 minutes of waiting, I powered the machine off but it won't boot - it powers up the drives but absolutely no beep codes or display - still flashing the power indicator. Bricked.

Ok - so now I google desperately for the model specific secret key codes and disk layout that will allow BIOS recovery from a USB flash drive or CD-ROM - NOTHING!

Anyone have any ideas about how to re-initiate the BIOS upgrade for this model from any of a) USB floppy, b) flash drive or c) CD-ROM?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Qosmio F60 - PQF65A-05E02W - BIOS update failed!

It is really bad situation now. To be honest I?m sceptic with repair possibilities. I presume BIOS is screwed up now.

Anyway, check please thread. Maybe you will be able to do anything about that.
Please send some feedback.

I have an All-In-One DX1210 i5, which has a BD-ROM.
My problem is, it will read CD's and DVD, and I can brun to DVD but I can't brun to CD's.

It has been doing it for new, it doesn't make any difference if I use
3rd party software or not it still comes up with an error when burning
to CD's, and I have tried about 4 or 5 different brands of CD's and
still the same result.
I tried the below link as suggested on another toshiba site but it didn't make any difference.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try CD ?R format from TDK?
I had problems writing data on CDs and DVD. I tried the TDK ?R and they worked fine?

I'm using TEMPRO and it suggested to update my BIOS.
I downloaded the file and execute the setup file. Unfortunately, it says "The size of ROM file is incorrect".

Does it mean I m doing it wrongly? or I already have newer BIOS in my system.

Please advice.

Answer:Qosmio X300 BIOS update failed - The size of ROM file is incorrect

Try manually installing the BIOS yourself by going to the Toshiba Website and downloading the latest X300 BIOS.

Hello, I have been asked to help fix a friends computer its an
Toshiba All-in-one desktop DX1210.

its approximately 1 year old with no problems till today the disk drive has suddenly stopped reading disks completely it wont even recognise that there's a disk inside.

i know there's a possibility that the laser is broken but i want to eliminate everything before i suggest replacing the ODD.

I have searched everywhere for an answer and done everything I have learnt to do in the past but nothing has worked.

I have used restore points.
Uninstalled the driver then rebooted to reinstall it (the installation is a breeze and says everything is working).
Reformatted the whole computer (created a backup and restored everything after it did not succeed).

I am 100% stuck on this and would really love anyone who could have the answer for me or even suggests something that might be of little help.

Regards Ur friendly IT Junkie

Msg to Moderators if this is the wrong thread for this please direct me to the correct one

Answer:Qosmio DX1210 - ODD does not read any disks

Did you try to clean the laser lens?
Do that using an cotton wool tip and alcohol fluid.
Be very careful and don?t use force?

I had problems reading some disk and cleaning the laser lens has solved most of my CD/DVD drive issues.

My last BIOS update has failed and now my laptop Satellite PrU400 PSU45E is out of order.
I want to use the Crisis Recovery Disk with an USB floppy drive but I don't know the key combination to run the boot-block.
Is anybody can help me?

Best regards

Answer:Satellite Pro U400 BIOS update failed - What is BIOS Boot-block access

I wondering what Crisis Recovery Disk do you have ?:|
In my experience the special disk is needed which is available only for ASP technician.
Therefore it?s necessary to contact the ASP in your country in order to reflash the BIOS.

In my opinion you shouldn?t not try any ?Crisis Recovery disks? which you fond in the net? this can lead to mobo damage?

So the other day i decide to play around witht he BIOS on my P5NSLI, and changed a couple settings. One was to change the northbridge to southbridge frequency or something from 3x to 4x? I think... Another was using Asus's AI overclocking feature, and i set it to a 5% overclock. When i first rebooted it looked like it was working fine. but then it locked up about 5 seconds into the memory test and hasnt worked since. I didnt smell anything burning, and i checked my processor for burn marks and nothing was there. I've tried to clear the CMOS multiple times. The most success i have had soo far was holding down delete and it actually saying it was loading the BIOS, but only to find it was frozen shortly after. During all of this I moved the MB and stuff onto my desk, hooked it all up and now it doesnt even show the boot screen. (The one with the pic that said AI something something...) I've tried 2 sepereate monitors and neither seem to be working with either HDMI or VGA plugin on either graphics cards. I did however notice that the Northbridge was getting hot when i put the back of my hand to it. So i rigged up a house fan to try and help keep things cool.

Any help is appreciated.

Asus P5NSLI motherboard
Stock cooling on Processor, n/s bridges.
2gb Kingston pc5300 667Mhz Ram. (2x 1g)
Dual PCI-E EVga 7600GT graphics cards
Cant remember the processors part number, but it's a Pentium D 2.8Ghz w/ 2mb cache.
Running on a 19" and a 22" BenQ flat panels.

Answer:Failed overclocking, now wont go to BIOS or boot.

Try removing the battery and disconnecting the mobo psu cables and letting it chill out.

I had a similar problem with my p5b deluxe and just had to disconnect everything and wait overnight.

Quite annoying, I really miss my DFI lanparty ultra-d....

You should probably reset your BIOS since I believe it is messed up now. Take out the battery.Press the power button for a minute. (just to make sure it is reset, usually 20-30 seconds work)Connect the battery and boot.

Fail o boot? You mean it restarts when it comes to the point where windows should start up (you get a bluescreen), if this is the case, go to BIOS and search for HDD mode (AHCI i think), if the mode is Enabled, then Disable it, it should run fine after that.If it's another kind of boot problem, i wouldn't know....

In last few days I've been getting a blue screen of death with the error "whea_uncorrectable_error", I read something about updating BIOS because the error is probably caused by old version of BIOS. I did the update correctly but as soon as my laptop restarted, nothing was booting.

The fan and the keyboard are working but nothing else. I tried removing the RAM, removing the CMOS battery, pulling the main battery out and holding the power button, but nothing seems to be working.

Can you please help me and tell me how to recover my BIOS?

Answer:Satellite C660D won't boot - BIOS update failed

because the error is probably caused by old version of BIOS.

Old BIOS version does not cause BSOD… … the BSOD appeared during the last day but I guess the notebook worked properly in the past in connection with the old BIOS version... therefore the BIOS could not be the problem here…

However, fact is that the notebook is dead now… probably because the update process has been interrupted due to the BSOD…

From my point of few the EPROM should be re-flashed again using BIOS crisis disk…

Some people has already tried to fix such similar issue using 3rd party crisis disk (use forum search for crisis disk to find similar threads) but this did not work always…

Therefore I think that in most cases only the Toshiba ASP could be able to reflash the EMPRO using the original crisis disk

Answer:Satellite P300-1H9 won't boot after BIOS update has failed

Hi mate

Seems something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure.
Usually the BIOS update should run properly but BIOS update is always sensitive procedure and something like that can happen.

Usually the CMOS has to be cleared firstly and then the ROM module should be flashed again. This can be done only by an ASP!

Get in contact with an local ASP? the guys would help you?!

Hi everyone,

I have tried to update the bios of a P300 using this :
BIOS Update
Toshiba Windows 7 - 32 Bit 4.20-WIN32 World Wide
Which I downloaded from here: after entering my laptops specifications.

The flash process hanged during the update and the laptop became unbootable, blank screen when powering on and nothing else...
I tried using the Phoenix Emergency Crisis application, created a floppy disk with the Bios image file that I have earlier downloaded but managed nothing.

The USB floppy driver access the floppy when entering the recovery mode, I hear some beeps that indicate that a process takes places, but when everything stops and reboot...the problem remains.

-Has anyone got a clue what to do next?
-Is the warranty void after a bios update attempt?

Thank you for yor time.

Answer:Satelite P300 does not boot after failed Bios update

Well in such case you have to get in contact with a local ASP (Toshiba Authorized Service Provider).
The guys could clean CMOS and could flash the BIOS ROM module using an special crisis BIOS disk?

Here you can find all ASPs worldwide: -> Support & Download -> Locate a Authorised Service partner

The best way is you contact a local ASP. Why?
I think the BIOS must be reset or the mainboard exchanged. They can order such parts and are very helpful.

Hi everyone. Please help out here. I have an HP Pavilion G6-1d40ca. It crashed the other day while I was using it, and when I restarted it, it went to BIOS update. It froze while updating, and died in itself (I think the battery died, it wasn't plugged in. I never knew about BIOS update, so I wasn't expecting for the battery to die during the update, so I didn't plug it in.) Second time, booted it up (it was plugged in this time), and went into BIOS update once again. All's good, was able to use the laptop for about five minutes, then it crashed once again. Now, when I boot it up, nothing comes up on the screen. No nothing. The power button is on, the wi-fi is on, the LED light is blinking non-stop, more than 6 times than what is referred to the HP website.

I tried doing the remove battery and adapter, press power button for 30 seconds, plug it in without the battery, but to no avail. I also did the whole win+B, but doesn't work either. I tried pressing f11, but nothing comes up on the screen. I don't remember where I put the recovery discs that came with the laptop. I thought I put it on the box together with recovery discs for our other computers at home, but I guess I didn't. The thing is, I don't know where to begin, since I don't have anything on the screen itself. Not even a start-up logo or something.

I only had this laptop for about 3 months, and looking at the other threads, it might be a hard drive failure problem. I could return it to HP, but was just wonderi... Read more

Answer:Failed BIOS update,HP pavilionG6 won't boot up and only black screen

Did you run a BIOS update, because it wouldn't restart into one. What exactly did the screen say that made you think it was a BIOS update being done without running it yourself (unheard of).

What LED light is blinking nonstop?

Can you boot into HP Factory Recovery: HP Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

You can try these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot which will tell you if you can boot a disk to do repairs. If so besides links to the Win7 installer to use for repairs, there are also links to HD and RAM bootable CD tests to check your hardware.

But if this cannot get traction quickly what I would do with such a new rig is call HP Tech Support and have them walk you through steps to determine if it should be returned or if there is a known issue.

Having lots of issues with a new Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming motherboard. After swapping out the old board I had trouble booting to Windows 10-64bit. I did manage to update my Windows license by calling MS but have other issues. My new CPU is a AMD Ryzen 7 1700. The BIOS was version F4. It was suggested a BIOS update to F5 was needed. I did the update within BIOS & when it got to about 90% finished it suddenly said it would reboot in 10 seconds. After reboot I was briefly able to use the mouse & go back into BIOS & noticed it did not update to F5. The mouse suddenly froze & keyboard doesn't work either. Now, it apparently does not recognize any hardware (USB, where the keyboard & mouse are plugged into) & boots to the blue Windows screen but no further. Suggestions, please HELP!

Answer:BIOS update failed now doesn't recognize hardware or boot Win 10

The GA-AB350 has a dual BIOS, which is supposed to protect against bad BIOS updates. However, I think that its functioning is automatic; I don't spot any way of manually causing the use of the backup BIOS.

I had a similar problem with one of my first UEFI motherboards. Automatic dual BIOS, but the backup BIOS never came into play. II ended up returning the board.

No guarantees that this will help, but have you tried clearing the CMOS? There's a jumper for that, or you can do it by removing the CMOS battery for a minute. See the manual. (Downloadable as a PDF, if you don't have a paper copy.)

If that doesn't work, you may have to repair or replace the board. The BIOS EEPROM chips look like they are soldered to the board, so you can't simply replace them.

Good luck.

I have an HP 150t and the motherboard died so I bought another one online and it was working fine but I decided to update the BIOS going into HPs website which mightve been a mistake. Now onto the problem: When I update everything was fine except it took about 20 seconds for the monitor to light up and after it did it took a really long time from the POST screen to boot into Windows. But after it did it worked like a charm. Now it still does the same except that it wont boot into Windows anymore and Startup repair has not been able to fix it. Thanks a lot for the help

Hi to all!I just baught Z50-75 with AMD FX7500, 8GB Ram and FreeDOS. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro, and they pulled some drivers during the installation, and I went to Lenovo sight and downloaded all the rest (graphics, camera, etc.), after each installation the computer restarted normally and all was O.K. The last drivers that I saw on the site were BIOS drivers, and I downloaded those to and it started the installation after which it said:"The system will now restart for changes to make effect", and it did, but, it would not boot up after that, all it did was show me this on the screen:   And I tried both of the options (the second one with the Windows CD inside), but it just stays where it is, no effect.I can enter the bios and change the settings, but none of them seem to work because this is the maximum where it will go, the only difference is when I change from AHCI to Compatible mode, it restarts and than I have a blank screen, I have to use the One button Recovery to get back to this one from the picture above...I would appriciate any kond of help, please give me some advice.

However, I now have no operating system on my computer so can't use any of the fixes I find online. Oddly enough, it installs Ubuntu 10.04 that I have on a disc. It's only when i try to install Windows I get any errors.I've already tried loading default settings in the BIOS with no luck. Is there another way to reset the BIOS?ThanksSteph

Hi i installed Windows 7 on the lenovo g550 and was getting the latest drivers and got the 2.53 bios. i got the message that bios flash was successful and then gave timer till reboot. The power light is on and the fan is spinning but nothing shows up on the screen. Luckily i did backup the bios onto a usb but now how do i go about flashing the old one back on.

Answer:G550 wont boot after bios update

If you have to, just hold down power button until it shuts off. Remove battery and wait one minute.Replace battery, and plug it in.Enter bios on boot and "load default settings". If you can't get into bios, post back.

I really appreciate the good design of Dell Inspiration 7353 laptop, it's good, mostly indeed.
Recently I have a problem to use legacy boot (USB, DVD/CD, Internal HD, whatever), after I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest one (Inspiron_3153_3158_7353_7359_7568_1.13.0). Due to legacy boot is required in my daily work, so I will ask for help, see if anyone can give me a solution.
When I used the laptop without any BIOS upgrade, it can boot from any legacy driver (USB, etc) with Windows 7, 8+ etc.
Then it had a small USB issue, I thought I should try to upgrade BIOS, see if this can help, then soon I started to regret, because I had found that all legacy boot is failed, the Windows 8.1 throw me into a BSOD, tell me PAGE FAULT error. I have tried USB, internal HD & DVD, all same.
Then I googled, saw someone had similar problem (not same), he cleared CMOS by pull out the battery, so I tried it without any hope, but surprisingly, when I pull out the battery and remove the connection of power adapter and laptop battery, by pressing the power button several time with & without power cord connected, then I installed the CMOS battery, laptop battery, restart the laptop.
When I press F12 to load the boot menu, it really can load legacy bootable device, but that's one time thing. After the system reboot, the problem back again, looks like if I want to boot into legacy bootable device, I will have to remove CMOS battery each time like above all...sad.
I thought ... Read more

By the way, I also tried BIOS recovery from Dell support page, and the recovery screen never showed up at all, and the led blink with white & yellow, even when I plugin in a usb stick with latest flash rom renamed to BIOS_IMG.rcv, still not work.

Answer:R30 wont boot after bios update.. says need new b/up batt.... Please helppppppppppppp

I've found theres a physical problem with the design of the motherboard (or at least MY R30), it seems that the bios battery holder has  comes up from the motherboard indicating a dry solder joint is the cause. I have resoldered it twice and am now considering putting in a 3032 battery with the built in leads and soldering it directly to the motherboard and bypassing the dodgy battery clip altogether. Also a kludge to make sure it keeps contact is cut up a peice of plastic 1/8 inch/2-3mm thick to the size that fits underneath the keyboard plug and contacts the battery,  and wedge it under there. I've had my bios battery kept in by this method for a month or so now and im not changing it until i can be bothered with stripping my laptop down and replacing the battery connector as indicated above. Good luck, p.s. did you really need to upgrade the bios or was it a "why not?" idea?

Can anyone help me please?

Updated my BIOS as recommended using the windows tool! All went through fine, backed up, verified and flashed new version. After the auto reboot my laptop will not boot past the Toshiba screen, press F12 and nothing, F2 and I just get PLEASE WAIT. Guess I won't be trying Visa or indeed any OS now.

Why oh why did I do it? All was fine before but was advised to do it for full compatibility. Do I need a new board or is there a key I can press to unable me to boot from CD to reflash or return to old BIOS?

Please help!

I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.

It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(

Answer:Qosmio F10-125: MCE Rollup 2 update KB900325 failed

I found the Microsoft advice how to install the MCE Rollup 2 update KB900325

Microsoft says to install this update, you must have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed.

>I already remove Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904) from the computer because from
>Microsoft recommends that before the installation

Of course they recommend removing this KB886904 Hotfix because otherwise, the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installation will not succeed. But if you already have installed Framework 1.1 SP1 you don?t need to remove the KB886904 hotfix.

However, this is a Microsoft zone and I would recommend asking the MS support why the singles hotfixes cannot be installed

I just restored my x61 to original settings due to a problem with blue screens, and decided to update the BIOS right afterwards.  I followed the directions precisely and it installed all 21 of the individual components for this model.  I then shut down the computer and turned it back on this morning to continue loading software.  The system started with the fan running at high speed and stopped at the ThinkPad Screen.  However, nothing happened after pressing the ThinkVantage button and F1 or any other button for that matter.  I left it for a couple hours, but finally determined that I could not turn it off or do anything with the machine.  It just hung there.  I did finally remove the battery and replace it, and now there is no power registering when the machine is plugged in and it won't start. Is there something I can do to recover the system?  I suspect the answer is a board replacement.  The BIOS update failed in conjunction with something on my computer.  I am just 2 years into the warranty period in the US, so if I need to replace the board, what are the best options? Thanks for your help and comments....this is a very frustrating turn of events, since it is my work machine.

Whilst updating the BIOS the system froze at step 7 of replacing the BIOS code, needless to say the laptop will not boot as the BIOS is now corrupt.

I have the BIOS.BAK but need advice on how to restore the BIOS. I copied the BIOS.BAK to a usb stick and plugged this into the laptop and then powered on the system (I've tried holding down F, F2 and together). I can see that the usb stick flickers initially but clearly does not progress with the restore.

I hope someone might be able to advise how to use the BIOS.BAK file to restore the BIOS.

I have a Qosmio G30 *Model Number PQG31A-01Y01F* purchased from Australia.

I downloaded the BIOS update (version 3.90) from Australian Toshiba website. But it always says 'computer is not suported'. I know this message comes when you try to update BIOS of a lappy with a different one.

Its frustrating as I am very sure that I have downloaded the correct bios listed on the australian website. This is very incompetent on part of toshiba for not providing the correct bios of the same.

WHy cant they put a .bin file like everybody else. They have released so many model of qosmio around the globe now they are confused with supporting them

I need this bios update because as this is one of the model that was listed under the GPU repair program. So expensive lappy and they come with such a goof up.

If it was a 1.x version you can only flash with another 1.x version, if it was a 2.x version you can only flash with another 2.x version.

I installed the latest round of Windows updates for my Win7 x64 install and it never completed (ran for about 24 hours) so I powered off the machine. Upon restarting, it said:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" and has instructions for using system repair, then at the bottom:

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: Oxc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
So I booted off a Windows recovery disk and figured Startup Repair would fix it. Alas, after it says "Windows found problems with your computer's startup options" and asks me if I want to repair, I click "repair and restart" and it says "Failed to save startup options".

The "repair details" are:
Name: {bootmgr}
Identifier: {...}

The following options will be added:
Name: Windows Recovery Environment (recovered)
Path: Recovery\...\Winre.wim
Windows Device: Partition=D:
I've tried running Startup Repair from the manual options screen and it says it cannot repair automatically. I have two partitions, the 100MB windows System partition, which Recovery Console mounts as C:\ and my main windows partition, which it mounts as D: and I can see all of my files on it.

Running "bootrec /repairbcd" gives me "Total identified Windows Installations: 0"

I'm not sure if there might be something fishy with the way it's detecting my partition table... Read more

Hello All! After a BIOS update (offerd by Lenovo Update) - and the automatic restart - the laptop doesn't boot. The led lights, the fan spins for a couple of seconds, but only black screen, no logo, no BIOS, no Windows.  Removing the CMOS-battery (for longer time) or pressing fn/win+B/R with the power button doesn't help. I'm trying to make a flash drive to flash the BIOS following these instructions. However I'm unable to retrieve the BIOS.wph or other proper file to use for the flash drive. I was using these originalfiles (both 2.08 and 2.5x), but neither with 7zip nor by installing the .exe (without installing the update itself) did produce the file I need. Could somene please help, where I could find the proper file (.wph or other) to make a BIOS flash with Phoenix recovery tools for a Thinkpad Edge 430, or whether you have an idea what other soultion (different software instead of Wincrisis for ex.) could I use to get my BIOS back into life again? Thanks in advance!

If you have installed Win XP then the Common Module should be installed before trying to update the BIOS.

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn?t provide any traditional BIOS updates. Only the win-versions are available on the page.

By the way; why you are 100% sure that the BIOS update would solve this issue?
Mostly the BSOD issues are related to the hardware malfunction or serious software issues.
Usually you should recovery the Qosmio with the delivered recovery CD. If the BSOD will appear during the installation or immediately after the installation then the hardware problems are possible?

Good afternoon,
I have installed on the laptop OS Windows 7 64-bit (before was Winodws Vista 32-bit). Also I have decided to update BIOS, but on a site I have found updating BIOS only for Windows Vista 64-bit and nothing for new OS - Windows 7.
My question: whether it is possible to establish on Windows 7 64-bit BIOS-update from Vista 64-bit and whether it is safe?

Answer:Qosmio X300-13P - BIOS update

You have decided to update the BIOS?. Why?
Is it something wrong with the installed BIOS?

If the notebook is running properly, I would not recommend updating the BIOS?
BIOS update is always a sensible process and should be done only if you have some issues which could be solved by BIOS update.

I donwload the file to update the ACPI Flash BIOS using the provided file "qg35v34.exe"?

I started to run the file but I got an "executing" windows for several minutes with almost nil disk activity. I assumed that the BIOS update is flawed and stopped it manually (crazy, I know!).

Any suggestion? Should I run it again?

I am really confused. With other notebooks and PCs, BIOS updates worked just fine and quick.

Answer:BIOS update question for Qosmio F50-10k

Qosmio F50-10k belongs to the PQF55E series.
If you want to update the BIOS you will have to use the BIOS exactly for the F50 PQF55E series.

The Toshiba European driver page provides BIOS for Vista 32bit and 64bit OS.
But this does not mean that you cannot use the Win XP?

I think you can use the Win XP but fact is that the BIOS has been optimized for Vista and not for XP?

The BIOS update should work also using XP but in some very rare cases the update could not be performed and in such case you will need the Toshiba preinstalled OS in order to update the BIOS

I?ve a Qosmio G30-188 (PQG30E) and after some problems and some posts I read on the internet I wanted to update my BIOS. So I went to the driver page of Toshiba selected my notebook downloaded the BIOS update but it doesn't work.

Every time I get the error that this BIOS is not supported for my computer. After some more tries to install it I started to question myself. Then I found the option where a tool of Toshiba can locate which notebook u have automatically. So he detected the same notebook as I have chosen before and the BIOS -update he gave was the same as I already had found.

So I got the same problem again.
The BIOS version I have is: acpi bios ver 1.40

I would like to get the traditional BIOS update like described in BIOS update FAQ. I don't have windows installed for updating it. (and I don't want to install it)

Can someone supply it? 3.90 version.

Answer:Need traditional BIOS update for Qosmio F30-111

if you do not want to install windows and you need to run the bios update windows software , then you can try this method

1. download the BIOS

2. Unzip to root of USB flash drive (formatted as FAT32) {"P0041v390.exe" is inside "" v3.90}

3. Unplug the USB flash drive and power down.

4. Insert the 32 bit Vista DVD and boot from it (you are not actually going to end up installing it or doing anything, this just gets you to the 32 bit WinPE environment)

5. Click through until you get to the screen with the activate online checkbox and uncheck it.

6. Connect the USB flash key to the computer

7. Press Shift-F10 to open a command prompt

8. Change to the correct drive for the USB flash drive

9. type "P0041v390.exe" {or what ever} and press enter

10. after the flash is complete, before letting the machine restart, EJECT the DVD. (remember, nothing was installed and nothing really happened except you had access to a 32 bit WinPE environment which you needed to flash the BIOS).

{color:#ff0000}I did not try this method , try it and tell me
good luck ;)

I am trying to install win7 (no beta) on Qosmio G30 (PQG32E with HD-DVD).
I start the installation and the files are copying to the hdd. Then the computer starts again for the installation.
But every start is ending in a blue screen with error: stop 0x0000007E. The blue screen text is saying something about a BIOS update. But there is no newer BIOS available at the Toshiba website. Installed is BIOS 3.90. There is no other available.

XP and Vista runs without problems.

BIOS with standard settings.

Answer:Qosmio G30 - need BIOS Update for Windows 7

I don't see any question in your posting but you probably want to know if Toshiba will offer some BIOS updates. I am pretty sure nobody here can give you final answer but, in my opinion, Qosmio G30 will not be Win7 supported.

The first series of Qosmio G30 is delivered with WXP MCE and later with Vista. So this notebook model is pretty old. I have watched how Toshiba has handled with old notebooks when Vista was new on the market and notebooks not older than year of two were supported. So I think with Win7 will be the same story. All notebooks, not older than one or one and half year will not be supported for Win7.
So I think in the future Toshiba will not offer BIOS update designed for Win7.

Of course I wish I am wrong about it but the future will show if my opinion is right or not.

Anyway, good luck.

Answer:Qosmio G50-12K - BIOS update for 8GB RAM support?

Hi eliotah,

In my opinion BIOS update is worth a try!

But I don?t understand why you can?t make this update. Have you installed Toshiba Value Added Package? In my opinion it?s necessary to start the BIOS update.

Found a new BIOS update 1.9 on the Australian Toshiba Website. This morning it was showing version 1.40, but now it says version 1.90. I will try it on my X500 when I get home tonight, see if it fixes the Sleep-wake up issue.

Answer:Qosmio X500 - NEW BIOS update - 1.90

Problem is fixed, I downloaded BIOS 1.90 and now my X500 laptop wakes up from sleep mode. When I had downloaded BIOS 1.40 it stopped operating properly, so BIOS 1.9 has definatly fixed the problem.

Hi again.

Yesterday night I updated my Qosmio F45-AV413 BIOS with the "qf45v190" version but today in the afternoon I noticed that my laptop was soooo slow and that it was overheating!

I immediately went to reset Windows Vista but insted of doing that, the laptop turned off completely.

I let the computer rest for some minutes and turned it on again. After a couple of hours of work, again it began to behave terribly slow and the heat again! I reset and when I clicked on F2 to enter Setup, the computer turned off...

I'm sure it has something to do with the latest Bios update!

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

BIOS version "qf45v150" was performing very well and I'm thinking in flashing my laptop with that version again. CAN THIS BE DONE? Can I revert to an old BIOS version? PLEASE HELP ME!

Many thanks for your answers.

Answer:Qosmio F45 overheats after the Bios v1.90 update

I found on the Toshiba US page the BIOS v1.5 for the Qosmio F45 (PQF43U, PQF46U)

Check this Toshiba US page:

There you have to choose your Qosmio F45 model and you should get all BIOS versions available for this series.

Maybe it's possible to downgrade the BIOS to the older version.

My unit -Lonovo 3000 K100 57068352; Vista OS.on 10/12/09 I downloaded Bios; 2skg33a; released by Mar coGU; Release date 2009, 2, 27; based on Bios 2skg31a.  The download went smooth, and reported everything completed.  I rebooted the machine, and it will boot until the OS reaches the beginning of the start page, then recycles to the start. I have done a complete recovery of my system and this doesn't help.  It does the same thing.  I believe the Bios are corrupted and is not part of the Hard Disk system. I need to be able to download the original Bios for this machine.   Can anyone help?  My machine is not usable without a correct Bios. Thanks for any help.AL

Answer:Bios Download failed, corrupting bios; machine will not boot up

Did u download the correct one? I checked this page and found there are 2 different bios available for different bios ID. Flash BIOS update (BIOS ID: 2SKG)Flash BIOS update (BIOS ID: 2SKT) Also, i saw the release date is 2009-03-25, and the download link showed the text as 2SJG33A and not the one with K. Where did u download actually? Btw, U have to check ur bios ID before installing the correct ones. Follow the description in the page for steps to check the ID.

I recently installed a windows update and the laptop went into restart mode.
When the system boots up it tries to boot then i get a black screen say PCI Express error.

I have tried a system recovery but the disc will not boot up, also tried accessing the bios and this also doesn't work.

Can i please ask for some help on this one as i havent had any issues at all, just seems that a windows update has messed with my bios config.

please help!!!

Answer:Qosmio G40-10e wont boot up - PCI Express error

I cannot believe that Windows update would affect the BIOS.

In my opinion this must be just a bad luck.

Usually the PCI Express error means that an PCI device on the motherboard started to malfunction.

This means that this could be a motherboard problem which could be solved only by mobo replacement

Sorry dude but I think you don't have many options here... seems the Toshiba ASP technician should take a look on this issue :(

Hey, I reinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit and I was running the system update.  The BIOS portion failed on me (not responding) and I had to reboot my computer.  Now it seems like the computer turns on but the screen doesn't turn on. Help.

Answer:Computer screen not turning on after BIOS update failed using System Update

Hello, if your dvd is spinning up, you could try to download your bios as an iso file, burn it to disc, and try to boot and flash from this cd.The last chance is to take out the battery, click power ten times, insert battery again and plug ac in. If nothing goes, call Lenovo support line, youŽll need a new system board.

My Qosmio F10 has a Toshiba replacement motherboard with a Geforce Go 6600 GA and an Intel 915 chipset.

I understand from Toshiba support manuals that this should now be designated F10-R. I have tried to update the BIOS to the most recent F10 (2007) version but the update procedure throws it out as being invalid for this machine. A search on F10-R shows nothing.

Can anyone help?

Answer:Qosmio F10 - Where can I find the correct BIOS update?

To be honest I never heard about Qosmio F10-R
I think you should ask your authorized service provider again before you make something wrong. They can tell you what BIOS you need for an update.

By the way, why you want to update the BIOS? This shouldn?t be done just for fun because this update is always a little bit risky and should only be done if you have a problem with your notebook.

I've Qosmio F60-10v laptop and when I want to update my BIOS to bios-20100909155041 version.

I'm getting the below error in red. I'm running the update with admin rights and I'm using the compatible update which is directly downloaded from toshiba's official site.

TOSHIBA BIOS Package Ver.4.0.7

Error: Preparing to update was failed.
Some errors occured. (Error Code = 15)

Can anybody has got any idea about the problem ? How can I update the BIOS, is there any alternative ?

Answer:Qosmio F60 BIOS update (error code 15)

Maybe stupid question now but why you want to update BIOS?
You know, many people do this just to have newest version although nothing will be changed and notebook will run as before.

I don?t know why this happen. This is question for Toshiba software engineers.

By the way: have you closed all running applications before you started BIOS update?

My remote doesn't seem to be working.

So please help me guys

Answer:How do I remove a Bios update on Qosmio X300

> How do I remove a Bios update?
I think you want to flash the BIOS back to the early version.

You cannot do this because you don?t have the early BIOS version.
Furthermore you would need an traditional BIOS update version which is not available on the Toshiba European driver page.
So you last option would be the Toshiba ASP in your country!
You will have to contact the guys to get the early BIOS version.

Just one hint; never change a running system ;)

Does anybody know what issues are addressed by the BIOS update issued on 7th of January 2010?

Answer:Qosmio X500 - Improvements of new BIOS update

I think it is to do with fixing a problem with Blu Ray writing, which is why the X500-10T series was delayed for a while. Having scoured the Internet constantly for a few weeks due to lack of information as to what the reason for this delay was, I do also remember reading about a few other minor issues but nothing serious I think.

Hi to everyone

I need to clarify a matter, the BIOS update that was released December 2010 was the 2.90 now a new release march 2011 is named 1.40! Is this an upgrade a downgrade or a joke? Should I proceed with the newest 1.40 or stick with the old 2.90?

I forgot to mention that I own a X500-11U and thanks in advance

Answer:Qosmio X500-11U- Question about new BIOS update

Hi nick73,

On Toshiba European driver download page there are two different versions available:

BIOS-Update 1.40-WIN for X500 PQX34E models
BIOS-Update 2.90-WIN for X500 PQX33E models

Your model the X500-11U belongs to PQX33E series and that means only BIOS Update 2.90 is compatible and 1.40 would be the wrong version.

So it?s not a joke and before you search for BIOS update next time, also use the correct part number ;)

As usual, got a laptop but no recovery CD's :(

Got XP 32 installed (my Microsoft contract doesn't provide MCE) but lots of drivers missing. Toshiba driver page only has all drivers for XP MCE, XP 32 only has BIOS update, Bluetooth, HD-DVD firmwares, virtual sound and WI-FI drivers!

So I tought "Vista on it", but as I checked compatibility within XP with Vista DVD I got a "need to update BIOS" (still has 1.40 - 2006/03/10)!
My problem is that BIOS update always returns "This computer is not supported"! Laptop only has one account, so it's not permissions issue, maybe because lots of drivers are missing? Should I update BIOS in safe mode?

What now? Am I stuck with a Qosmio brick? Without LAN controllers to say the least I can't get nothing done! Will XP MCE drivers work on XP 32?

Any thoughts?

Answer:Qosmio G30 PQG31E - No XP 32 drivers? Can't update BIOS?

I found all the Win XP drivers for Qosmio G30 PQG31E!
On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Win XP MCE drivers?
The XP MCE drivers are the same drivers like for Win XP Home or Pro.

There is also 3.90-WIN BIOS and this BIOS is OS independent. This means it works with Win XP and Vista...

In order to update the BIOS the Common Module should be installed?
You can find it also on the Toshiba European driver page!!!

The VAP is not compatible with 64bit Vista. For running BIOS update the common modules of VAP needed. Vicious circle!
Do you know possible ways to upgrade new version BIOS (3.50 win) not under Vista?
The real BIOS upgrade manual ( IOS&FID=TRO0000000b07) is not correct and not fit to contents of package (e.g. after unpacking, i can not find the folders "docs", "Update - 3,5' Disk", "Update - CD-R or CD-RW")?

Answer:Qosmio G30-211: How to BIOS update on Vista 64bit?

Because of your first thread posted here in the forum I assume you have an Qosmio G30-211 notebook. This unit belongs to the PQG32E series.

Now we have to clarify something;
The Toshiba notebooks are not delivered with any 64bit OS. Also the Qosmio G30-211 was not preinstalled with Vista 64bit but with Windows 32bit XP Media Center Edition 2005.

In my opinion you have to run the original Toshiba image (or MS Vista 32bit OS) to update the BIOS!!! And not a 64bit OS!!!
The 3.50-WIN BIOS available at this time on the Toshiba page is ?OS independent? So it should be available to update it running Vista or Xp.

In the BIOS zip folder you will find only a exe file and you have to ?run? this file to start the BIOS update procedure.

By the way; the Toshiba document says;

For the current range of Notebooks Toshiba offers two different BIOS update procedures.
- Windows based update: BIOS is updated from within Windows.
- Traditional update: BIOS is updated using a diskette or CD-ROM when booting.
We recommend to update the BIOS from within Windows.

I've downloaded the bios update QF750B200_EC120_WIN.exe for my F750 and when I attempted to run the update, it fails & I received the message:

"The AC adapter is not connected, or battery power is not enough.
Please connect the AC adapter, and charge the battery."

However the AC adapter is connected & the battery is also fully charged. Does anyone have any ideas for making this work?

Answer:Cannot install BIOS update for my Qosmio F750

Hi again,

I've solved it but thought I'd put the solution here in case anyone else had a similar problem. Basically I had to:

1 - Uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" using Device Manager
2 - In Device Manger, go to Action>Scan For Hardware Changes
3 - Close Lid & Remove Battery
4 - Reboot without battery
5 - Insert battery

That seemed to sort it out so it was probably a problem witth the ACPI-Compiant Control Method Battery Driver or something like that. I think I'd disabled it & re-enabled it a while back so something probably went awry then.

Hi all, I tried updating the BIOS on an old computer with an asus m2n mx se plus mob and it failed so when I came to restarting the computer it wouldn't load and comes up with a bad bios checksum. checking floppy...not found....checking cd ...not found. I have downloaded the latest bios file from asus and tried all sorts. there are actually no instructions on their site on how to reload the bios onto the mob. (I am not sure if this is even possible, I am not great with the aspect of computing) Anyway so far I have tried changing the file name to M2PLUSSE.ROM which is what the mob asks for when loading up with a cd in, says reading M2PLUSSE.ROM.... can't find M2PLUSSE.ROM I have put this on a CD on its own, with the 3 items in the zip file that are is a flash exe file and the other a text file....have created an ISO and burned this to CD and still no luck. ONE point to note is that I am doing all the work on a macbook pro as this is all I have. I have used the disk utility on mac to burn the CDs. I have bought parts to build a new PC as this is quite outdated but I would really like to get it up and running so I can save some of the stuff on the hard drive before I have to wipe it for a clean install of windows.
Thanks for any help :)

Tempro alerted me about a BIOS update - - for 32bit Vista, released 15 April 2009, for my F50-10Z.

Since then, the illuminated 'buttons' atop my keyboard no longer work - including, annoyingly, the button to turn off the illumination.

Is there anything I can do at this point? I tried a system restore, but it didn't affect the BIOS.

Answer:Qosmio F50-10Z - After BIOS update illuminated buttons don't work

Firstly, reset the BIOS to its defaults, and check the illumination settings in the BIOS and in the Toshiba utilities within Windows.

Also try removing the Value Added Package, then downloading and installing the latest version from the Toshiba website.

after instalation if new bios (v 2.0), computer sometimes starts with the black screen .
Even the first page that show press f2 to enter the bios is not shown.

Do you have somebody old version of the bios?
So I could try if it is the fault of it.

Answer:Qosmio F50-125 starts with black screen after an BIOS update

I think the old BIOS will not help you because the notebook would known that you are trying to update the BIOS to the older version and it would break up the procedure.
Furthermore the older BIOS is no available on the Toshiba European driver page.
I think just only a Toshiba ASP has got an older BIOS version.

Anyway, you said this happens ?sometimes?.
This would mean that this issue doesn?t persist always?
Hmm?. in such case I recommend settings the BIOS to the default settings and to update the display driver.

Check it out!

I've a Qosmio F30-111, originally with Windows MCE and all devices working fine, but I did a BIOS firmware update for 3.40 (before was a 1.x version).

Later I've installed Windows Vista Ultimate, and all devices has been recognized fine (with Toshiba Vista drivers), but the sound wasn't work!!
The situation was:
- The sound device was recognized;
- The MIC works (but I can't hear it);
- The speakers not work!! <- THE REAL PROBLEM

Now I've installed The recovery CD, and I'm at Windows MCE again, but the sound have the same recognized, but the speakers don't work.
I don't have any ideia to what can I do...I don't know if it's possible to rollback the firmware (I think that it was the problem).

Remember: the sound device works, the Media Player works, but I can't hear the sound (yes, the volume is high and isn't mute)

Sorry for my bad english,
Many thanks!

Answer:Qosmio F30-111: No sound after BIOS 3.40 update & Vista installation

Hello Md2

can you hear the sound if you connect a headphone into the audio jack ???

if there is sound from headphone then your sound device is working ok.

if not , then disconnect all the external usb devices and start a clean install of vista (not upgrade , but booting from vista cd)

be sure to put the RAID driver on cd or floppy or usb flash before you make the clean vista installation.
