Preferred Solution: Satellite L500 - FN keys not working after windows 10 upgrade

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite L500 - FN keys not working after windows 10 upgrade

Usually the Win 10 drivers can be downloaded here but only for Win 10 supported units
http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swup...spx?region=TEG

Unfortunately, the L500 isn’t listed a Win 10 supported notebook model.

Hello,
Satellite L500-PSLJ3E, upgrade to Windows 7 64bit and none of my function keys work with the fn keys. Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility are installed.

Does somebody know how can I solve it?

thank you very much,

Answer:Satellite L500 - FN keys don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Hi

Have you installed the newest tools from the Toshiba page? If you install both VAP must be installed first and then Flash Cards Support Utility.

Furthermore I would try to clean the registry using CCleaner.

Here in forum are already some threads about this issue. You should also use the forum search.

Hi,

It's pretty easy. Go to the [Toshiba driver page|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp] and download Vap utility and Flashcard support. Then, install Vap and restart your laptop. After that do it for Flashcard support.

Hello,

I have bought a new laptop Toshiba Satellite L500-1EV. Now I am with Windows 7 32 bit OS, and I noticed that some of the shortcuts - espacially the "fn-F8" - for switching on and off the wireless adapter and "fn-F9" for toggling between mouse and touchpad input don't work. After I press FN-F8 the wireless adapter is still working and the indicator still lights. After pressing FN-F9 the system keeps on receiving input from both mouse and touchpad.

Am I missing some driver?
Thank you !

Answer:Satellite L500-1EV- Some FN keys don't work on Windows 7

Hi

Have you installed Windows 7 yourself or was it preinstalled on your notebook?

As far as I know for the FN keys you need Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. In your case I would try to reinstall both of them, VAP firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility.

Check the Toshiba website where you can find both tools! :)

How it works?

Answer:Re: Satellite L500 - FN keys don't work on Windows 8

Maybe stupid question at the beginning of our discussion but have you checked if your notebook is supported for Win8?
I mean which drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities you want to install if your notebook is not supported for Win8?

Answer:Satellite A500 fn keys not working at all after windows 7 upgrade

Hi!

May I ask you if you have already searched in forum for similar threads? I think this question is asked very often in last few days so normally you should find an answer to your problem.

However, if I read in the forum you should install latest Toshiba Value Added Package. You can download it on the Toshiba page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Can you confirm that it?s working?

Hello.

I have found and installed all drivers I need for this laptop using Windows XP. My problem is that I can only activate Wireless on this laptop by pushin FN+F8 key, I have installed the Realtek Wireless drivers and they are installed fine, but I can't get Wireless to work because of the FN keys. When I push the FN+F8 key, a blue led should turn on next to the volume controller, but it doesn't...

I've searched for the Hotkey Utility in the Toshiba India site, I downloaded and tryed it but I get the error "This software utility does not support this system", the Common Modules gives me the same error too.

I've tryed installing other Hotkey Utility driver for another laptop, and it doesn't give me that error, but it doesn't work either... I actually leaves my laptop freezing a second, every 5 seconds... and the FN keys still don't work.

Anyone know where I can find a working Hotkey Utility for my laptop using XP?

Or maybe is there a way to activate Wireless without the FN keys? I don't need the other keys... I just want a way to activate Wireless.

Thanks for your time

Answer:Satellite L500 - Can't find drivers for FN keys for Windows XP!

Hello

That?s very strange buddy because the point is that XP is the past and newer notebooks doesn?t support this OS.

What you can do is to download the utilities for another Satellite L notebook, e. g. Satellite L300. This supports Windows XP and maybe the tools from that notebook are working on yours.
Check this!!

In worst case you have to live with this issue or you upgrade to Windows Vista. That?s all what you can do.

Answer:Satellite L500 - reversalof " and @ keys

Your keyboard layout has been changed from the default English-US, to English-UK.

This is a common issue, because I believe most people change the layout believing it will also change the way the machine interprets US/UK spelling. ie Organize instead of organise.

To change the layout, go through to Control Panel - Regional and Language Settings - Keyboard

Hi nixi,

I had the same problem on my Satellite L500. I have a little bit searched here and did the following steps

1) Download newest Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility.
2) Remove the old versions of both Toshiba tools and restart your notebook
3) Use CCleaner to remove still existing keys in registry and restart again
4) Install VAP firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility. Make the last restart.

Normally the FN keys should start working again. Can you confirm this?

Hello!

Since I bought my laptop (Satellite L500-1XU) I have a problem with my keyboard wich i can't figure out.
It happens that without +Toshiba Value Added Package for Win7-32bit+ ([this version|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/download.jsp?ct=DL&soid=2485090&ref=EV]) some FN combinations work (such as ESC, F1, F3, F5, F6, F7) but the rest of them don't work.

So I install TVAP and now none of them is working. If i mouse-click on any flash-card it does its job, but the key commands refuse to work.

My guess is that the TVAP version I use is incompatible with my laptop model: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9746/satellitel500.jpg
But I can't find the right version. So I'm asking for your help.

If you have any ideas please hit reply.

Thank you in advice!

Answer:Satellite L500-1XU - FN Keys Problems

Hi

Your notebook belongs to the Satellite L500 PSLJFE series.
Go to the Toshiba European driver page and download the VAP and Flash Card support utility for Satellite L500 PSLJFE.

This should help!

Otherwise you?ve got some registry problems and in such case you should clean the registry using CCleaner for example?
This free tool cleans the OS? After that you should install VAP and Flash Cards again.

Answer:Wireless not working in toshiba satellite l500 in windows 7

For a start, turn off CAPS LOCK - it's considered to be shouting & many will ignore you.Did the laptop come with Windows 7 or have you installed it later? Are you sure there are drivers available for the wireless card - check the manufacturer's website if necessary. Some Toshiba laptops have a separate wireless switch on the front edge - if it's there make sure it is in the 'on' position. The usual key combination, as far as I recall, is Fn and F8 pressed at the same time (not F8 on its own) - there should be an LED that lights up on the front edge of the laptop when the wireless adapter is on."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Satellite L500 is not Win 8 upgrade supported? so I think the problem is a missing driver or software?

As far as I know in order to use the FN buttons the Value Added Package for Win 8 needs to be installed.
Check other driver area for Toshiba notebook series supporting the Win 8.
Maybe you could use the VAP released for other series.

I have an 4-5 years old Toshiba L500-128 and I'd like to upgrade the CPU. Atm I have a Core 2 Duo T6500. I know that I can put a T9500 in it, but if possible I'd like to put even a better one. So I have a few questions:

1) Can I put a CPU with 1066 FSB speed and will it work? T6500 has 800 FSB.
2) Can I put a CPU with 44 or 45W TDP? T6500 has 35W.
3) If answer is yes to both previous questions, can I put a CPU with 1066 FSB and 45W?

Is possible I'd like to put something like T9900 or even a Quad Core.

Thanks in advance :)

Answer:CPU upgrade for Satellite L500-128

>1) Can I put a CPU with 1066 FSB speed and will it work? T6500 has 800 FSB.

In my opinion you should check the chipset compatibility and the CPU support.
As far as I know the notebook?s motherboard supports the Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset

On Intel Ark page I could find the Intel mobile GM45 chipset specs and compatible products:
http://ark.intel.com/products/35134/Intel-82GM45-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller-Hub

However, fact is that new CPU needs to be supported by the chipset and BIOS.
If one of the parts (chipset or BIOS) would not support the new CPU, the notebook will not boot up.

Additionally you should also know that notebook manufacturers don?t support CPUs upgrade.
What does this mean exactly?

This means that even if the chipset would support new CPU, the BIOS could be the troublemaker and would not support the upgraded CPU. From my long experience, there are no information about the BIOS support. Therefore the CPU upgrade is always an risky procedure. Maybe it will work, maybe not?

Answer:Satellite L500-1WH is upgrade to i5 processor possible?

Hi

Such similar questions have been posted in the past. If you would use the forum?s advanced search option, you will get lot of threads about this theme.

First of all you have to know that notebook manufacturers (no matter what manufacturer) don?t support CPU upgrades officially.
In case you would like to upgrade the CPU, you can do it at your own risk.

Secondly you should check the chipset which is used in the notebook.
I guess this unit supports an Intel HM55 chipset.

I found info about CPUs which are supported by HM55 chipset (click on compatible products)
http://ark.intel.com/products/43183/Intel-BD82HM55-PCH

But even if you would choose one of the mentioned and supported CPUs, the BIOS might not support it because the BIOS was designed and modified for the L500 and not tested with other hardware parts.

HI,

I have a SATELLITE L500-125, and I asked Toshiba Nl if i can make upgrade from VIsta to WIN7.
The 1st asnswer was as below:

We do not support upgrading a Windows Vista notebook to Windows 7. When you are in possession of a Windows 7 license, you can download the drivers (if available) from our website:

http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=NL#

*_*However, we cannot guarantee your notebook will work with Windows 7, since we did not test this.*_*

HOW CAN TOSHIBA CAN HAVE DRIVERS BUT THE LAPTOP WAS NOT TESTED?

WHEN I ASKED FOR CONFIRMATION ON ABOVE ISSUE , REPLY WAS AS BELOW:

For a complete and confirmed answer to this question, we advise you to contact our technical helpdesk:

0900 - 1000 100, choose for option 2

SO CAN ANYONE ASSURE THAT I CAN INSTALL SUCCESFULLY WIN7 ON MY LAPTOP?

I "REFUSE" TO BELIEVE ALSO THAT TOSHIBA DIDNT TEST THIS LAPTOP ON WIN7.

Answer:Satellite L500-125 - WIN7 upgrade

Hey if Toshiba offers Win7 drivers this is evidence that you can run Win7 on your notebook.
I have installed Win7 on old L300 and it runs perfectly.

Can someone tell me which processors I can upgrade to. Currently I have an Intel T4300 in a Satellite L500-19X running windows 7

Answer:Satellite L500-19X - Processor Upgrade

As you probably know CPU upgrade is not supported so it is not so easy as you probably think, I mean if you want a list with processors that you can use.

More about that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm
I just hope someone has made such upgrade and can post report about it.

In my opinion there is no reason for such critical upgrade. You can upgrade RAM to maximum and maybe use faster HDD to get more performance. Everything else can be pretty risky.

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-22R with a ATI Mobiliti Radeon HD 5145.

I want to install new drivers for my card, but Toshiba doesn?t upgrade the driver since 2009 (version 8.653.0.0) and the oficial driver version for ATI is 13.1. The problem is that i can install from AMD page because there is a compatibility problem with hardware.

Someone can help me? I want to upgrade my driver version and i can?t understand this situation.

Answer:Satellite L500-22R - ATI driver upgrade

Hi

Here is a AMD page providing this info:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystSoftwareSuiteVersion131.aspx

+The following notebooks *are not compatible* with this release:+
+? Any notebook launched after this driver release+
+? Toshiba notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)+
+? Sony VAIO notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)+
+? Panasonic notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)+

In some cases its possible to install such driver but you will have to do that manually from device manager. There you have to click on graphic card, have to choose the Advanced installation procedure which helps you to point to the driver folder which you downloaded from the AMD page. The driver folder should contain dll and ini files. Such files are needed for driver update.

Hi

You must be kidding! ;)

I have used the forum search for this problem and I can find a lot of threads about this. The solution is pretty easy: Just install Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility and that?s all!

You can download all on the Toshiba website.

Hello

I?ve upgrade my L670 from Win7 to Win10. After upgrade the Fn-Key don't work. Is there a way, to recover the functionality of these buttons in Windows 10.

Answer:Satellite L670 Fn keys don't work after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi

Each notebook function requires special tools and utilities.
In case of FN keys, Toshiba software controls this functionality.

But as far as I know the Satellite L670 will not get any Windows 10 utilities so probably this keys will not work running Win 10.

Here details about the Windows 10 upgrade:

Answer:Satellite L500-1XC - FN key not working

Hi buddy,

Usually the FN keys are controlled by Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. I don?t know what OS you have but for Windows 7 and Vista you need these tools that you can download here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

First remove both tools and then restart your computer. Now install VAP and at last Flash Cards Support Utility.

Check this!!!

Well, I upgrade my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and had to rollback the upgrade because some of my laptop's fn keys wasn't working. Only volume and brightness worked. Anyone knows how this can be fixed? The same thing happened when I updated my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but I think it was solved with a driver update. I tried to install the latest driver version but nothing changed.

Hello,

I am having a trouble with my laptop, the fn keys are not working.
I had this problem before, but when I reinstalled Windows 7 they worked again. Sadly after some updates I had the same problems as before.
I think it is really annoying, because now I have to go to the taskbar to dim my screen for example.

I already tried to reinstall the drivers, but they didn't work.
Does someone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

HI,

after upgrating my laptop to Win 8 the battery stops charging...
the message says..."pluged but not charging"....

Any suggestion........exept to reinstall win7...??

Answer:Satellite L500-14X - Battery does not charge after upgrade to Win 8

Hi

Usually there is no big difference between the Win 7 and Win 8 so I really don?t understand why this battery issue should be related to Win 8.
In my opinion its not Win 8 problem and I think even if you would install Win 7, this issue would not be solved?

Try this:
Disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery
Now leave the notebook disconnected for a longer period of time (10 hours)
Then press and hold power button 30 sec long and then connect both parts.
The Ac adaptor should be connected for a longer period of time to allow the system to pre-charge the Battery

Hello.

My laptop is Satellite L500-13T

I did upgrade to WINT from VISTA using official TSB upgrade disk.
It looks something was wrong. WIN7 installed correctly but unfortunately all installed programs and settings are gone.
I also see that during the upgrade $directories on partitions C: and E were created; the older programs and files are there.

Few questions:

1. Is there a way to return the programs back?
2. How to create the recovery disks now under WIN7 because there is no TOSHIBA RECOVERY CREATOR anymore ?
3. Can I download TOSHIBA RECOVERY CREATOR ?

Answer:Satellite L500-13T: all programs & settings are gone after Win 7 upgrade

Hi mate

Did you read the manual which was delivered with the notebook and with the Win 7 upgrade disk?

After a Win 7 upgrade you have to put additional the disk with the upgrade tools which came with the Win 7 upgrade disk.

> 2. How to create the recovery disks now under WIN7 because there is no TOSHIBA RECOVERY CREATOR anymore?
This is not possible since the recovery disk should be created at the beginning running the OS preinstalled by Toshiba.

> 3. Can I download TOSHIBA RECOVERY CREATOR ?
As far as I know this cannot be downloaded.

Hi,

My L500-1kk came with the following memory specifications:

Memory standard : 4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB
maximum expandability : 8,192 MB
technology : DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

Expansion 2 ? memory slots (1 to configure)

1. Now I need to upgrade my system to 8GB, since it says that my system has 2x memory slots, and that it is (2,048 + 2,048) MB, does this mean that I need to replace the original modules with 4GB modules?

2. What does (1 to configure) mean? is this an empty slot where I can add a 4GB module?

3. What else do I need to know about adding memory to my system?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite L500-1KK - Memory Module Upgrade

Hey,

If you want to upgrade to 8GB RAM, you have to remove both (current) 2GB modules and buy two 4GB modules.

As you already wrote in memory specifications, you need DDR2 RAM 800MHz.

You can buy new memory modules from an ASP or you check some online shops. Kingston makes also good RAM modules.

Interesting information about RAM upgrade you can also find in your user manual!

Hello,

1) i am asking for your help about installing my Fn keys drivers for my Satellite A200 14 D PSAECE laptop.
My OS is Windows XP and i have Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 .
From the download page of Toshiba drivers i got all drivers for my laptop (36 of all - or close), but from the many Xp reinstalations i have done on my laptop, only one time all Fn keys worked when pressing Fn+key and the corresponding icons appeared on my display. I have read some forum topics and i understand there is a problem about the order in which i have to install them ( i already installed them all but it is not working ), so i need someone to tell me which are the drivers for Fn keys only and in which order to install. Please do not forget that i can deactivate my Bitdefender but not uninstall .

2) the same problem with the preset buttons above the keys - On-Off, Internet, Media Player, Play-Stop-Rewind, i need the exact driver and the order.

Thank you for your time :)
Sorry if this question is already answer in the forum somewhere, but i could not get this exact answer.

Answer:Satellite A200-14D PSAECE - Fn keys not working & other function keys

Hi

I remember that the BIOS should be updated to the Win XP version on Satellite A200 series.
There are two different BIOS versions and depending on the installed (Vista or Win XP) the right version should be used.

But there are many FN buttons which needs additional installation of different tools.
For example the Touch Pad On/Off Utility should be installed to use the FN+F9 buttons.

Furthermore you should install the Controls Driver 2.49.2.5C and Controls 3.22.2701 in order to get the Toshiba Control buttons functionality.

Hello,

Please could someone help me out.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A0393 that I got a few months ago with Windows 8.1 already installed (64 bit). Today I got a message saying I needed to look at the PC Health, a Toshiba blue message concerning the access agreement, and I noticed that there were three upgrades that needed to be done, the only one I can remember being the Toshiba Video Player. I think that another one had to do with the charger light?
I don't know.

But once I restarted my laptop after the updates I noticed that the special function keys were not working (i.e. the volume, mute, pause and play, etc.). i then went onto the Toshiba Desktop Assist and into system settings and selected the keyboard tab. I then made sure the setting for special function mode was selected.

Now, when that setting is in place, certain keys work but for F3, F5, F6, etc and when I want to use the special functions only the volume up and down work when pressing 'Fn', but special function mode is still selected? Only those two work, not the mute or flightmode or bluetooth, which was working normally before the upgrades.

I have googled but cannot find anything specific to 8.1, or not relating to upgrading to 8.1. I cannot find the flashcard utility and do not want to try something where I do not know what I am doing. How can I get these special function keys working again normally? Sorry for the long message but I wanted to give as much info as possible.

Answer:Special Functions keys not working on Satellite C50 - Windows 8.1

Hi

It sounds strange to me that a Toshiba update (Toshiba Video Player, etc?) would affect the function key functionality.
Nevertheless? the function key (F1-F10) can be used in combination with or without the FN button. This depends on the special function key mode.

In case you want to use the F1-F12 functions without the pressing FN button, the function key mode should be enabled (should be set to special function mode)

Here the full details how it works:
https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD2503B90001R01.htm

Now it these buttons would not work even if the FN button has been pressed, then there is some problem with the software.

First of all I would recommend you to set the BIOS to default because this function key mode can be changed in BIOS too.
After that, check if the key would work. If not, reinstall the
Toshiba Function Key Utility

And Toshiba System Driver

You can also check if the essential service has not been disabled.
Start the Task Manager and go to start up items. There you should enable all Toshiba apps and services and then restart.

Hey,

The point is that you have to install Flash Cards Support utility too and Value Added Package is not enough. As you can see in many other threads, FN keys start working after installation of Flash Cards Support Utility.

So have a look on Toshiba website again to download this tool.

Please send some feedback after installation. :)

I don?t think so.
If you cannot switch back to notebook?s display using FN+F5 I?m afraid there is some hardware problem.

Recently got a Satellite L500-1DT for my Mum who's learning to use a computer for the first time and everything works apart from the built in webcam, of which was a big part of the decision in buying it.

The blue light comes on and it records sound but not any images. It also doesn't take the photo shot either, and in both cases just shows the cloudy sunset image that appears to be a defualt shot on the program. I've tried troubleshooting for her but there's nothing in the help guide that tells you how to fix it if it's not working.
The software was already preloaded when it was bought (we got it online) and I don't want to uninstall it as I don't think we have a disc.

Can anyone help?

Answer:Webcam is not working on Satellite L500-1DT

Hi buddy!

I?m not quite sure but in my opinion you should try to reinstall the webcam driver. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

But before you install the newest version, remove the old one first and restart the notebook.

Regarding the disk that you mean, as far as I know Toshiba notebook will not delivered with ?recovery disk?. That means you have to create it yourself using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. This disk contains an image about ?factory settings?. This is the same version as you have started the notebook the first time.

By the way: Normally after the first start you should get a message like this. Can you confirm this?

+Important INFORMATION+

+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+
+and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+
+hat you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer+

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there. Start notebook in safe mode and test it again. If the same happen again and again I presume keyboard must be exchanged.

When you upgrade original preinstalled Vista you don't need to activate Win7 but if you make clean Win7 installation then you must activate preinstalled version.

With other words to have activations-free Win7 you must install Vista at first using Toshiba recovery DVD and then upgrade it to Win7.

The Flash Card support Utility can be found in Satellite L500 driver area for example.

The built-in Web Camera on my Satellite Pro L500 has stopped working with the following message:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Toshiba\Toshiba Web Camera Application\TWebCamera.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
The Event log points to microsoft.vc80.openMP.......

Could someone please tell me how to fix the web Camera. I very rarely use it so I do not know exactly when it stopped working.
Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro L500 - Webcam has stopped working

Hey,

What do you think about reinstalling the webcam software? Maybe this will work?

Please check the Toshiba driver download page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Just search for your notebook model and available downloads. If you find it, download newest Camera Assistant Software but before you install it, remove the old version first and restart your computer.

My USB boards stopped working so I got another board for an L500 and suspect it is incompatible. The board fits fine but once a USB is entered it has trouble reading them. A iPhone or an MP3 will charge for example but you wont be able to open the devices folder and edit/see content.

I have tried disabling the drivers and completely removing them and turning off the computer, waiting 15mins and then turning back on but I keep getting "device malfunctioned" messages. I am going nuts trying to sort this as it has rendered my laptop almost useless to me. Anyone that could help I'd be eternally grateful!!

I suspect the only hope left would be reinstalling windows but my CD is scratched so can't even do that.

Answer:USB replacment board not working on Satellite L500-1XC

Hi

I don?t see many options here:
Either the USB board is compatible and would work properly or its not compatible or faulty and it will not work as it should.

The USB drivers are part of the system and cannot be installed separately.
You need to install the windows to check how the USB board would work...,

The HDMI output on my Satellite L500 seems to have stopped working in the past few months.
I've tried different cables but it is still not working.

Any ideas?

Answer:HDMI output not working on my Satellite L500

When you press FN+F5 key combination while notebook is not connected with HDMI cable, you will see one option (LCD) only. When you connect HDMI cable can you see other additional options like LCD, LCD+HDMI, HDMI and so on?

Please be also sure that right HDMI port on your TV is enabled.

By the way: which OS do you use?

Answer:Satellite L500 - touchpad & CD-rom are not working anymore

Best way to test functionality is to install original recovery image again and test hardware with ?factory settings?.
Please use recovery DVD discs, if you have created them, or use HDD recovery option - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

Good Morning,

I noticed that my Satellite L500-19X's hard disk was on it's way out so I have bought a replacement. I used the tool on the machine to create 2 restore DVD's to re-install the system.

The restore seems to run ok, working through both disks etc. It finishes, asks me to remove the media and the machine reboots.

The Windows 7 startup begins, but get's to "Setup is applying system settings" and I get a message stating "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware."

Does anyone have any ideas? I've run the restore a couple of times with the same result. I'm rather surprised that the restore CD's are essentially useless.

Answer:Satellite L500-19x - Restore disks not working

Is this first time that you have used recovery discs?
If your old disc still works somehow try to reinstall OS using HDD recovery procedure - [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm] - just to see if the same will happen again.

It is not easy to say what is wrong there but maybe by disc creation some bits were not saved on the right place. Who knows? ?:|

Hello,

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L500 and all the sudden my touchpad stop working.
I tried check in the control panel the options for mouse but I can not even find it in there.

Any idea of how to solve it.
Do I have to take it to a technical center?

Thanks,

Answer:Satellite L500: touchpad stoped working

Hi

Firstly; please check if the touchpad has not been disabled accidently.
Check FN + F9. This function enables and disables the touchpad.

Furthermore you can go to control panel -> mouse -> Device settings
Here you should also check if the touchpad is on or off.

Last but not least an touchpad driver update or reinstallation might help

No disply on my toshiba satellite L500,power supply led is getting on .

Answer:Toshiba satellite L500 not working, No disply

If you still get lights on the edge of the laptop & you can hear the fan spinning and harddisk clicking a bit but nothing at all is appearing on the display then it's either the screen or the power inverter that have gone. Either way it's not really something you can do yourself, take it to a technician to sort out. If you are not getting any lights, fan or clicking sound then it is a power issue - the LED doesn't necessarily mean that the power supply is ok. Again, not much you can do yourself, take it to an expert."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

You have to install the VAP (value added package) and have to install the Flash Card Support Utility!

Hi there.

I upgraded the OS on my PC above to windows 8 pro from window 7 Home Premium and since then the Line of media keys along the top of the keyboard have stopped working (eco, wifi, quick access, play/pause, mute and vol +-). They are illuminated though not responsive to touch.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the VAP 1.54 which it came with and had no success.
It seems there has not been a Win 8 version released for this model but there has for ever other P750 model out there by the looks of it! I've tried the Windows 8 beta versions 1.6 but have had no luck at all.

Any other ideas/ has anyone experienced this too?

Cheers.

i have a toshiba satellite and on the back it says the model name is satellite l500-1dt.
i am new to this website and using forums, the message that comes up on my computer is

system warning
Warning:a problem with the cooling system has been detected. please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

i am currently working in the alps and do not have an english speaking computer shop near by.
could any one help me and advise me what to do, i do not know much about taking a laptop apart to clean or change parts.

Answer:My Toshiba Satellite l500 cooling fan has stopped working

I would purchase a can of compressed air or use an air compressor (with a light gentle nozzle) and blow the dust out of the inside. If you have a failed cooling fan, then it will need to be repaired or replaced. That model I think is rather old, it may not be worth it to repair.

Front volume control does not work. Volume is set to max and can only be controlled by mouse and slider control.
Can anyone help?

Answer:Re: Satellite L500 iCQ Rotary Volume Control is not working

To be honest I don't think anyone will be able to help you with this.
As far as I know this is not mechanical volume control as used on old notebook models but electronically part controlled by software so only thing you can do is to test the functionality with ?factory settings? and see if the problem will be the same.

What else you can do? I don't know. Maybe BIOS update but I really don't think this will help.

Do you use original preinstalled OS you got with your notebook?
Have you made some changes or anything that can have negative influence to this?
Since when you have noticed this strange behaviour?

Some of my drivers won't install givin message 'DMIcheck application has stopped working' or similar message for pInfo application...

Same Windows 7 64bit installation on another laptop didn't have any problems like that.

How do I solve this?

laptop model is L500 (short model no. PLJSHE)

Answer:Satellite L500 - DMIcheck application has stopped working

Hey,

For me it sounds like that the DMI information is missing and so you get this error message...
Are you using the drivers from Toshiba directly?

Usually the DMI information is missing if the mainboard was exchanged and the technicians have forgotten to re-write this information.
In this case contact the guys again and they will do this for you! :)

You have reinstalled Win7 using original Toshiba recovery image?

Generally speaking all you can do now is to reinstall TVAP or flash cards support utility.
Have you tried to restart flash cards? Do this and press FN button several times.

Hi,

About 2 weeks I have a new L500-19E with Windows 7 and it worked fine. But since a few days I have trouble with my microphone, no matter if I use the internal or an external headset/mic. The issue is that it seem to work for a few seconds only, e.g. trying a call via skype, teamspeak etc. but people only hear my hello and a few more words, then they only hear me very quite. The settings all seem to be fine and I already downloaded/installed the newest realtek drivers but nothing helps.

Does anyone has an idea what the issue can be and how to fix?

Thanks
stammann

Answer:Satellite L500-19E - Microphone stops working after few words

Hi

Really strange, stammann. Have you also tried to update the webcam driver? I ask this because the microphone is a part of the webcam so you should also update this driver. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Have you also activated Microphone boost? You can check this in Windows sound settings.

Answer:Satellite L500-1WP: after Win8.1 upgrade external USB 3.0 disk doesn't work

Hi

I guess you are talking about external HDD which supports the USB 3.0 standard.
Right?

Did you try to connect the external HDD to another USB ports?
Do the USB ports work properly in connection with other USB devices?

Does the USB 3.0 device support Win 8.1?

You should check this.

Hi,
I have a Satellite L500 running Win 7 64 bit. I have recently installed the last windows updates and have noticed that I can no longer select multiple items by holding down CTRL and left clicking. This applies to files in explorer as well as e-mails in outlook. When I try it just hangs for a few seconds but fails to select multiple items. Has anyone else come across this or have any suggestions as to a cure?

Hello,

I replaced the original realtek wireless card with an Intel 6230 but it is not working.
After power on the wireless control led on the front remains blank.

In windows ( 7 professional 32bit) the drivers install fine, but said:
"radio hw switch is off"

fn+f8 not working, in bios wireless com sw is enabled.

The card is fully working in another laptop (samsung r528 (same chipset))

Is there any solutin, or will there be a BIOS update for it?

Answer:Satellite L500 (PSLJTE) - Intel Centrino Advanced n 6230 not working.

Sounds like the notebook is not compatible with the radio switch in the 6230, and the additional Bluetooth feature may also be causing an issue.

I doubt support would be added for Wifi cards not supplied from the factory so you may need to use an earlier Intel card such as the 5100 or one of the other cards used in the PSLJTE range.
