Preferred Solution: Satellite C50D-A-12x crashes often - driver WudfRd

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite C50D-A-12x crashes often - driver WudfRd

Hi

It looks like the driver / service WudfRd causes the system crash.
After googling around it seems that other people have had the similar system problems.

The WUDFRd is a service and it is called "Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework" which is also responsible for USB devices

I would recommend you to disconnect all the devices you had connected to the notebook?s USB ports. You should also uninstall all USB hubs which appear in device manager and then reboot the notebook.

You should also go into services .msc and look for Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework. Check the status of this service. Usually it should be set to manual.
Under "Status" it could be set to off.
If you pluggin a USB device the status change to "Started".

Try to changed the startup type to "Automatic". Then shut down the notebook and restart. Then check the status again to see if it would be still set to automatic.

I recommend you to test and to monitor the notebook functionality without connection of any USB devices. Then plugged in an USB device again and check if an error would appear or system would crash.

hi, my satellite always shows me the blue screen of death whenever I am downloading content from the internet regardless of which website I am using. I even changed the browser hoping it would help but now, am using internet explorer 11 but I still have the same problem. please help me.

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-138 always crashes

Hi

Please check if BSOD would appear after the system has been recovered to factory settings.
I recommend doing this because BSOD appears due to serious system problems as well as hardware issues… recovery procedure will help you to determine whether the BSOD appears due to software issues…

Hi

I've had my laptop for 2 weeks but it keeps crashing and is incredibly slow.
Please help any advice would be great

Answer:Satellite C50d-A-138 is slow and crashes

Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have and what do you mean with ?notebook keeps crashing??

Every notebook is delivered with preinstalled operating system. All drivers, tools and utilities are installed and configured properly. We don't know what are you doing exactly with your notebook and which software have you installed additionally. Maybe is there some conflict.

If you are not happy how is your notebook running I recommend you to reinstall operating system using HDD recovery installation. After doing this notebook will have ?factory settings? again. Next step should be OS optimization. Remove preinstalled software that you don't like or you don't need. Check Windows updates and change settings for it. Don't use automatic update option. This can slow down notebook if some updates are downloading and running in the background.

One more thing: have you created recovery medi?

Long story short, I installed with a plugged in laptop a new firmware, 1.30, and around 90% imy laptop crashed with the same sound it does when you hold the power button. Now it's working fine but i can't see it having isntalled properly. Is there any way to reinstall it or is the laptop doomed?

Hello,

my notebook shuts down when playing flash-files (like youtube or facebook-videos), and then there is a blue screen with a sad face and the following text: "system_thread_exception_not_handled (atikmdag.sys)"
my system is windows 8.1, and I allready re-installed the display driver (i used this one: http://www.toshiba.de/innovation/dow...jsp?service=DE)

there are no viruses or maleware on the notebook.

thanks for helping!

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-13W (PSCGWE) crashes when playing video-files

atikmdag.sys is part of the ATI graphic card driver…

I think the issue is caused by graphic card… probably the ATI driver is the reason why the BSOD appears…

The notebook was not equipped with a dedicated GPU but the graphic card AMD Radeon HD 8330 Graphics is part of the AMD Kabini A4-5000 CPU

Maybe you could uninstall this driver and install a new update…

I need a wireless driver for my Toshiba Satellite C50D-B-120 and when I search for drivers for this laptop on the driver downloads on toshiba site it brings up 2 drivers. It brings up :-

Wireless Lan Driver
Broadcom Windows 8.1 - 64 Bit 6.30.223.227_wCAT World Wide
20/08/14

and

Wireless Lan Driver
Atheros Windows 8.1 - 64 Bit 10.0.0.285.1.e64 World Wide

Which one do I need?

Answer:Need wireless driver for my Satellite C50D-B-120

The specification of this notebook is not known to me but you can try with Atheros. If there is no result install Broadcom.

Have you got this machine with preinstalled Windows 8.1 (all drivers are included)?
I mean if you?ve got it with preinstalled OS what is wrong with WLAN card?

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-12R - need Win 7 graphic card driver

Hi

I assume you did not check the right entry in the device manager.
If you want to check the graphic card within in the device manager, you should not expand the area called ?LCD or display? but you should check the area ?graphic card?

The graphic card driver can be downloaded from Toshiba EU driver page:
The page provides the AMD display driver for Win 7 64bit v 12.102.1.1-x-156947C

The Satellite C50D-A-12R does not support external dedicated graphic chip! This should be known to you? the Satellite C50D-A-12R was equipped with the AMD Kabini A4-5000 CPU.
This CPU supports own internal graphic unit AMD Radeon HD 8330 graphic chip.

Please don?t be mad at me but such graphic chips are not the best choice if it comes to play games. The notebook was released for common purposes like browsing in internet, using office application, etc?

Please don?t understand me wrong; of course you can play some games but don?t expect too much?

I download driver from toshiba support site for usb 3.0 for win7 x64 and it starts to install driver but at the end it saids...
Windows found driver software for your device but encoutered an erroe while attempting to install it.
AMD USB 3.0 Host Controller
The system cannot find the file specified.

I try to point driver location but same error.
Other drivers installed ok only this one give error

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-133 with Win7 - cannot install USB 3.0 driver

I?ve downloaded and unzipped the driver and everything seems to be OK.
As far as I know notebooks with AMD platform doesn't have chipset driver and after display driver installation should be installed USB driver.

Try to download it again and start installation manually.

Hi animeowns,

Welcome to the 10forums.

The 5v is 10.200. What are the values of the 3.3v and 12v?

The nvidia video drivers have been flagged, unknown from what GPU as you have 2 titan x GPU's.
This could well be due to the power issue.

Hi there!
I'm in a desperate need of help.
This is the situation (sorry for my bad English as always...).
Yesterday I left my PC running with a download in progress through MiPony.I told the program MiPony (for the first time) to shut down the PC at the end of the download.Until then the PC had no problem. Before going to bed I checked the PC and I saw that it was offThis morning I turned on the PC and I glimpsed a sign that it was starting a scan (the only letter I saw was I:\) but I could not stop it.The PC is turned on regularly. Only half an hour later I found out that an entire 3TB HDD in 4 partitions had disappearedI did some search and found this error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.I tried to reboot but same situation (no scan and normal situation) but NO drive.I checked the event log (attached) and I see the problem started after 4 different event regarding my network connection (It's a week that I have to reset the modem \ router several times a day)

I am seeing several of these Warnings in the Event Viewer, Windows System logs. These are Event ID 219, Source Kernel-PnP.

That said, I am not experiencing any crashes, freezes, BSODs, and everything on my PC seems to be functional. So perhaps I can safely ignore these warnings, but I prefer to get to the bottom of something in case it will lead to problems in the future.

I have done some online research on this event, and none of the suggested fixes seem applicable to me. I have been vigilant in keeping all drivers on my machine up to date. I've checked, and there don't seem to be any newer drivers available for any of my hardware. I also have the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service set to "automatic" startup.

The details of this event are below.

Any suggested action to remedy my problem? Thanks!

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed. Usually your video card driver.

Hi,

Since the 11/18/2012 event viewer (Event ID 219, Task Category 212) has been posting a warning:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN (followed by name of USB device)

It only occurs on start up if I have a USB memory device plugged into a USB port. The USB memory device functions perfectly and the error never occurs when I plug in and out a memory device after boot up.

The error only occurs for memory devices like memory sticks, external USB hard drive does not cause this error.

Checking back to around the 11/18/2012 I see nothing that I have changed/installed that might indicate something that has caused this. No other Windows 7 failures or issues.

Booting a second hard drive with windows 7 on the same system (I have this second installation for testing faults etc), the issue does NOT occur.

From checking forums and searching I have found a few others with this issue and a few articles on its cause

WUDFRd failed to load for the device

Event ID 219 is logged after you install Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

I was just curious as to why it would suddenly start occurring after a particular date when as far as I can tell I have not made any changes to anything around this date.

Also I wondered if there was a fix to stop this, other than removing a memory stick before boot up!

Any thoughts?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error

I just started getting this exact same error message logged in Event Viewer when I plug a USB stick into a USB port. It happens with two different sticks from two different manufactures, but it does not happen every time I plug them in. It seems that it may mostly happen the first time I plug a stick in after I have booted up my PC.

Have you been able to find a solution to get these error codes to stop logging?

My PC started BSOD-ing a few days ago and now does it every few hours.

It starts with this error:

Then:

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device

anyone?

At Windows 10 startup this Warning appears in my Event Log as Event ID: 219.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{a1c931b2-3b00-11e5-9c14-806e6f6e6963}#0000000008100000.

I know why this happens. The device in the message is an internal SATA AHCI hard drive. All AHCI drives, even internal ones, are considered removal or hot swapable. It even causes the safely remove icon to appear sort of like it was a USB drive. It happened on Windows 8.x. Don't remember if it happened on Windows 7. I can't make any changes in my BIOS to make it not hot swapable as there is no option for this drive.

The fix to get rid of the message in W8 was to modify the Service 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' Changing the Startup type from Manual to Automatic fixed the problem. However, on Windows 10 this method does not work.

I can't disable the Service as it's needed for other devices. Just wondering if anyone found a nice clean way to get rid of the warning message like in W8?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device .......

I have the same issue. I have upgraded from Win 7 home, had some issues so I did a clean install of Win 10 home, and I also tried changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User Mode Driver Framework from manual to auto and same as you it did not work. And, Yes, I have downloaded and installed all of the latest driver/firmware from my manufacturer for all my hardware but still have this issue.

Full event error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device {C5A047D8-CB5B-40E9-B9E3-316AB06B5A18}\WirelessKeyboardFilter`

Driver environment:
Windows 10 x64 desktop
I have a wireless Microsoft mouse
I do not have a Microsoft wireless keyboard
I have the associated transceiver that should work for both (if installed)

This problem started when my Microsoft wireless mouse driver was updated to version 1.0.102.0 (dated 3/16/2016).
This driver update also appears to be responsible for a few other device errors as well:

I believe this new driver assumes you have a wireless keyboard (without checking) and just tries to load a driver for it.

My temporary fix is/was to rollback the driver to the previous Microsoft version 10.0.10586.0 (dated 6/21/2006):

Anyone else run across this condition or have a known solution using the latest driver?

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm been having issues a looong time with different sorts of BSOD's but I've been able to cook it down to this last one after replacing both graphics card and Logitech headset.

Latest error which occuring at least once per day:

This happens very random and I'm really lost here.

I tried the "fix" suggested in another thread (change the service "Windows Driver Foundation" to Automatic from Manual) and it works for awhile. However, I have made the change several times since the Event Warning comes back after a few days. Anybody got a way to make the "Automatic" stick. Windows 8.1 seems to have a need make it "Manual"!

It should be set to manual w/trigger so that is not the solution to your issue (whatever that is):

Hi,
So my first xps 13 had ASF2 force off issues so I returned it and wanted to give another try, hoping this time I'll be lucky enough to get a properly working unit this time. However,

Since 4 days my laptop reboot 3 times, ASF2 force off error in power logs every time. And The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\INT3400\2&daba3ff&0 error in event viewer. (Also attached. ) Also whenever this problem occurs, "The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 30 seconds since the last report." warning is also given afterwards.
edit: All of them happened while on battery
Help and suggestions are welcomed. I will send this unit back and stay away from dell If i can not solve this again.

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 - please find the complete system log warning details below and a (related or not?) disk controller error below.  Motherboard is an ASRock B75 Pro 3 with an Intel B75 Chipset.
I keep getting these warnings.  I get them for all my Windows Portable Devices (disk drives) on boot up.  Here are my disks:
Disk 0 on internal SATA 3 connector off an
ASMedia ASM1061 chip on motherboard (internal drive, but enumerated as removable) - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 D: data drive
Disk 1 on internal SATA 3 connector off the B75 chipset on motherboard (internal drive, not enumerated as removable - gives no warnings or errors - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 C: system drive (has Windows 8.1 OS on it)
Disk (2 or 3 depends on order of USB connection) on external USB 2.0 connector off back I/O panel of motherboard - Kingston DT 101 II USB device F: backup thumb drive
Disk (2 or 3 - depends on order of USB connection) on external USB 3.0 connector off back I/O panel of motherboard - Seagate BlackArmor DAS35 USB device G: backup external hard drive
There are no symptoms other than another (probably unrelated) disk controller error (shown below).  The controller error is on either drive 2 or 3, but never 0 or 1, so it is one of the external back up drives (the thumb drive or the BlackArmor drive).

For the past couple of days i have been having a problem where my computer just shuts down on its own and then turns back on again. It mostly happens when im launching or playing a game but a couple of times i was just on the desktop and it restarted. I have checked the event logs and it keeps saying this:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.

I have searched all over the internet for the past couple of days and have found multiple answers (all of which didn't work). Some say its the psu and others say its the gpu. I personally think it was the windows update that i did three days ago because that was the day it started but i have yet to see anything online about a windows update causing this. I have already updated the graphics drivers and chipset drivers but it didn't change anything. Can someone just tell me whats going on because is just built this pc about 6 months ago and nothing like this has ever happened.

Hi guys wonder if you can help me. I was given this laptop for xmas and noticed it doesn't have a dvd drive built in. Is there anywhere I can buy one as I've looked all over the internet and can find any?

Answer:Satellite C50D-B-120 and DVD Drive

Hello

To be honest I don't know if ODD can be added additionally.
Some C50D models have 9.5MM 8X DVD-SUPERMULTI ODD inside but I don't know exactly which model it could be. Maybe someone with the same machine can help you with this.

What you can try is to contact authorized Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help.
I?m pretty sure that can check in their database which model can be used and you can also ask if you can order plastic cover for it.

If you don't use optical disc drive so often good solution is external USB ODD. I use also such ODD with my small NB550. It is HP CMB UJ141AF USB drive.

My Toshiba C50D-A-138 Laptop won't Play DVD's. I got my laptop in May and for the first few days I would let me play DVD's but since then it wont play them, it just makes a wurring noise as though it is trying to open it but it wont. I have tried downloading VLC and Various media players to see if that wold help but it is not.

My laptop will play CD's and Computer games when I put the disk in but When it comes to DVD's they wont open and I don't get a notification to say there is a disk in. When I go into My PC folder and look at the D Drive it shows the name of the DVD but when I click it opens up into a folder showing a Video and Sound content folder (something like that) and if I right click on he D drive when there is a DVD in and click on 'open in Auto play' it wurr's for a couple of seconds and then stops and noting happens.

I hope someone can help.

Answer:My Satellite C50D-A-138 won't Play DVD's

Do you try to play the ?original? DVDs or just some kind of self copied movies?

> When I go into My PC folder and look at the D Drive it shows the name of the DVD but when I click it opens up into a folder showing a Video and Sound content folder (something like that)

This means that the ODD (optical disk drive) can read the inserted disk (DVD) because the DVD content is accessible.
The question is: why the software cannot read the play the disk content.

There are some possible reasons for that:

1) the disk isn?t released for the country region which is set in the ODD settings. The settings can be found: (right click on D drive ? properties ? hardware tab ? DVD/CD ? properties button ? DVD region). In my case the DVD region has been set to Region 2. In such case I can play DVD disk released for Region 2.
_Note:_ this settings can be changed only 4 times. Then it will no be possible to switch to another region code.

2) The software you are using cannot read the disk content. But VLC player is one of the best players available on the market (for free) and it should be possible to play almost all disk using this player software. However, the preinstalled Toshiba DVD player software should read also the original DVD disks.

3) Another reasons why the ODD cannot read the disk properly, is the dirty laser lens. In such case it required to clean the laser lens using an cotton wool tip and alcohol fluid.

Has anyone else had serious issues with this model laptop?

Mine seems slow but on closer scrutiny it is actually the different parts stopping and starting intermittently and not all at once.

The touchpad and keyboard are most obvious because the curser seems to stutter about and often typed letters don't appear on screen for a few seconds.

The WiFi also cuts out intermittently as well as the Ethernet and other ports.

Also I tried to do a factory reset which should take no longer than 20-25 minutes to write the recovery partition onto the "C" drive but this takes over 3 hours! This time does not include setting up the laptop after the reset.

What should I do with this as it is unusable and only bought new in argos 2 weeks ago.

Answer:Satellite C50D-B-120 seems to be slow

Satellite C50D-B-120 seems to be equipped with 4GB RAM only…
I think an upgrade to 8GB would be advisable.

Also the applications and the amount of processes which running in the background could slow down the notebook and the system performance.

What you could try to do is to clean the system using CCleaner.
Disable also some not essential processes which start while booting up the system.

Answer:Is it possible to install a new cpu for a Satellite C50D-A?

I know it sounds stupid now but why do you want to do this?
As you probably know CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba and hardware upgrade is very limited on mobile machines.
Only supported hardware upgrade is RAM and HDD upgrade. These steps can be done without some risk and you can do this on your own.

Hey everyone!
I've recently bought a refurbished C50D-C00U, and it worked fine for the first couple of days. I left it running, not doing anything in particular for a few minutes and come back to it powered down. Pressing the power button makes the LED flash slowly 5 times.
I've read through other forums and tried the solutions there (removing the battery and holding the power down for 45+ seconds, trying a different power cable, reseating the RAM, booting without any RAM, etc.) but none of these have made any difference.
I tried again today, and nothing seems to be happening at all, not even the 5 slow flashes.
Can anyone suggest what it might be, and any ways I might be able to fix it?
Thanks in advace,
-Luke.

The separate key cannot be obtained from Toshiba but only the Toshiba Recovery disk.

If you did not create the Toshiba Recovery Disk in the past, then you will need to order such disk from here: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

The disk contains the image. Image is a package containing the Windows system (already activated) as well as all the Toshiba drivers and tools.

how can a boot on cd ?

Answer:How to use bootable CD on my new Satellite C50D-A

Hi

Check please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm document.
There you will find instructions how to change BIOS settings. After doing this you will be able to use ODD as bootable device.

If you want to downgrade your operating system before you are doing this create recovery media at first. Using this media you will be able to install OS again and have original ?factory settings? anytime you want.

My sons laptop has decided to stop working

It is only about 6 months old and when you power on the Toshiba leading innovation screen comes up and that is it.

If you power off and back on the same screen comes up with preparing automatic repair and then goes to a blank screen, no curser or anything.

I have tried many things and cannot even get it started in safe mode.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite C50D-A will not turn on

> It is only about 6 months old and when you power on the Toshiba leading innovation screen comes up and that is it.

If its only 6 month old, then your notebook is still covered by standard warranty.
The issue looks definitely like hardware related problem and therefore the next contact point should be the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.

The warranty is valid and the notebook should be fixed free of charge.

Hope this helps you a little bit? greetings

So recently I updated something on my Satellite (Specific Model - C50D-B-120), and after it was finished instead of the usual "restarting" screen it came up with a "shutting down" screen, which I thought was odd in the first place. After it turned off, I tried turning it back on again. The light around the power button came on as normal and the fan came on too (Though I noticed that the fan wasn't working as well as usual), but the screen and lights at the front of the laptop stayed off... Any ideas on how to fix it?

Please check if the touchpad would work again after uninstalling the touchpad driver from the Programs and Features which you can find in the control panel...

After the touchpad driver has been removed, please reboot the system.

Hi All

Could really do with some help on the Satellite C50D-B-120 / pscn4e.

Cleaned the drive and did a clean install of Windows 7, all updates applied etc.

I have downloaded every Toshiba driver for the model, and installed them, but have the following problem:

In Device Manager, there are 3 things that aren't installed:

- SM Bus Controller
- USB Controller (Assuming USB 3, as USB 2 works)
- Unknown device

Is it me installing things in the wrong order perhaps? Or is the machine not fully supported on Win 7.

Also the function keys for screen dimming/volume/wifi etc... do not function.

Can anyone shed any light on these issues, as I'm at the end of my tether now!

Thanks in Advance
James

Answer:Satellite C50D-B-120 - Win 7 drivers installation

I have checked Toshiba download page http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/dow...ivers_bios.jsp and all drivers for Win7 64bit are available so your notebook is fully supported.
Have you installed all of them (31 driver listed)?

Try to identify unknown device using vendor and device search - http://www.pcidatabase.com/

I have a sat C50D that will no longer start up. The fan is running but nothing on screen.

It started with USB ports becoming faulty, then the AMD display driver stopped working intermittently

Then the wireless adaptor stopped

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite C50D does not start up - no screen

Any ideas?

Looks like a serious hardware problem… as I understood the message, the notebook does not react anymore except the fan…
Maybe the GPU is faulty… cannot say for sure what’s wrong because any part could be affected…

Did you try to remove the battery and disconnect AC adaptor and then to press and hold the power button 30-50sec long?
If not do that… and check if the notebook could be powered up…

I have tried installing Windows XP for this laptop since its performance is dreadful, on startup I've got into bios, set secure boot to disabled and changed the boot mode to "CSM boot".

Saved the changes and restarted the pc to allow the setup to launch.
It started to work for a couple of seconds and then i got the blue screen of death.

Could anyone please help me with this

Answer:Can't install windows XP on Satellite C50D-A-138

Do you really want to install Win XP?

Win XP was very good system in the past but its not supported anymore by Microsoft and of course its not supported by Toshiba. This means that you will not get any Win XP drivers for notebook series.

Why you don?t look for Win 7?

Hi

i have a Satellite C50D-B1017 AMD E1 2100
it used to work alright with the wired connection but now it doesn't even show the Ethernet driver in the device manager and it is set to On in the bios
i' tried reinstalling the OS it's windows 7 i tried both x86 and x64 still the same problem i tried to setup defaults and nothing changed
still doesn't feel the built-in lan
P.S : the wirless is fine

I hope someone could help

Answer:LAN is not working on my Satellite C50D-B1017

Best test you can do is to set BIOS to default settings and install original OS version that you got with your machine (recovery).
If the LAN is still not working (not recognized in device manager) it is possible that there is some hardware related issue.

Is the warranty still valid?

Try to make short test and roll back OS few days back using system restore option to see if this will help.

1/ Open the Windows 8 Control Panel
2/ Click on System
3/ On the left, click the System protection
4/ System Properties window will appear > click on the System Restore
5/ Click Next
6/ Select the restore point you want to use from those in the list
7/ If you'd like to see older restore points, check the ?Show more restore points? checkbox.
8/ With your chosen restore point selected click the Next
9/ Confirm your restore point and click the Finish button.

Please test it and send some feedback.

Hello,
After changing the HDD with an SSD I decided to clean install windows 10. After that, bluetooth is totally disappeared. I tried to download and install the correct drivers (toshiba system drivers and atheros bluetooth filter driver package) from the toshiba official website, but in device manager there isn't any terms that refers to bluetooth ( I looked in all the category). I also tried to restart the service " bluetooth service support" and put it on automatic. Nothing of these was useful. I really don't know how I can do now!
Thanks in advance for every kind of help.

it used ot work well til about two weeks ago.
i am not aware of any changes that i made in the laptop.
any ideas?

Answer:FN key has stopped working on my Satellite C50D

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there but what you can do is to roll back OS to earlier time or try to reinstall Toshiba system driver/Toshiba function key utility.

Maybe this will help.

I recently bought a SSD to improve performance a little, I of course want to install Windows onto this.

The problem is that while the laptop recognises that the SSD is there, it only tries to boot from it, which it can't of course because it is blank.

Says 'Checking Media [fail]' and then 'No Bootable Devices Found.'

I've gone to the boot menu and tried booting from CD and USB, neither option works and the system again tries to boot from the blank SSD.

I've set both the DVD drive and the USB as first boot devices. Again neither of them work and you guessed it, the system tries to boot from the blank device.

What am I missing? There has to be a way to get the system to boot something other than the blank SSD.

Hello I have a Satellite C50D-A-12V which was working fine until recently. Now when I turn it on, most of the time, it powers up but does not boot and the screen remains black, sometimes after maybe 30-40 mins it will suddenly spring into life, but most of the time it does not boot up and the screen remains black. I have it up and running at the moment but I have to leave it on as once it shuts down it takes many many attempts to get it to boot up again and Im worried that maybe soon it might just not boot at all.
I haven't made any changes before this problem started but I have upgraded to windows 10 a few weeks before this started. Im thinking this might be a BIOS problem but I do not know much about how to resolve this if possible. I have tried removing the power and battery and holding down the power button for 60 seconds and then powering it up but this has not helped. Any suggestions will be greatly received!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately this newest model is not supported for Win7 so you will not be able to find Win7 drivers.
All you can try is to use drivers offered for older and supported models but it pretty complicated.

Hello,

I can not boot from an extern DVD-driver (to install Win7, the intern driver is broken). I changed the boot order in the BIOS, I disabled the secure boot mode and I changed the UEFI mode to CSM mode, but it still boot from the HD.

Do I have to switch anymore?

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-13W - Can not boot from extern DVD

No, you don?t need to change anything else?
I?m afraid the booting from external USB DVD/CD drive isn?t supported by BIOS.

As far as I know the BIOS support the booting from following devices:
USB HDD, Internal ODD, Internal Primary HDD, USB Memory, Network

my Satellite C50D has started making a crackle on start-up from the right side. the warranty is about to expire unsure as to whether I should send it back. In reality it has had very little use as I could not get on with windows 8.1 after all it was made for a phone not a laptop

Answer:Satellite C50D - cracaling noise

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what may be wrong there but this noise could be produced by HDD. If the warranty is still valid contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe the HDD must be replaced.

Hi, for starters I can not find this exact laptop on ANY Toshiba sites, but it is pretty much exactly the same as the 12-U model (specs here: http://www.toshiba.co.uk/laptops/satellite/c50/satellite-c50d-a-12u/ )

So every time I open a page and have background music playing it will lag and stutter quite badly. Sometimes even just having YouTube playing by itself the video will stutter. My CPU usage never goes above 30%.

I am guessing I need to manually install new drivers but which ones?

Any help would be great!

Good morning, may pls somebody help me on this:

I've kicked Win 8.1 from a.m. notebook and installed Win 7 Home Premium SP 1 instead.
Everything went smooth so far but the USB 3.0-driver:
it's still exclamation-marked in the devicemanager.
I had downloaded ALL 34 drivers/utilities for Win7 and installed them, of course, the given USB3-driver, too,
but still, that stubborn thing...
Can anybody advice on this issue?

BTW: is there a certain sequence/order those drivers/utilities need to be installed?
And if so, why is there no hint on the download-page?
And something else: for some device are two different drivers given, how do I know which is the correct one?
And last not least: how can I turn off the touchpad?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance...
IsNis

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-13R and WIn7 - USB 3.0 issue

> is there a certain sequence/order those drivers/utilities need to be installed?
Such installation order is present for Win 8.1 and you can find in on the Toshiba EU driver page (installation instruction)
It looks like for Win 7 such installation instruction is not available.

> And something else: for some device are two different drivers given, how do I know which is the correct one?
Check the device which is present in your notebook model.
How to do it? The procedure is described here:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78

> And last not least: how can I turn off the touchpad?
You have to install the Touch Pad Driver (Alcor and Synaptics)
Then you could use the function key Fn +F5 to enable or disable the touchpad.
You could also disable the touchpad going to control panel -> mouse -> pointing device (or Advanced tab). In the settings (or properties) you will find different touchpad options and also the option to disable the internal pointing device.

Regarding the USB 3.0
The notebook Satellite C50D-A-13R PSCGWE supports the AMD chipset. Therefore the AMD USB 3.0 driver should be installed.
Beside the AMD USB 3.0 driver installation, the AMD/ATI display driver should be installed since such driver contains also the AMD chipset driver files.

iIve bought new laptop, TOSHIBA C50D-A-13G but i have one little problem.
it says in the description
(Graphics card: AMD A6-5200 APU with AMD Radeon? HD 8400 Graphics
Graphics card memory: Up to 4090 MB)
but i dont how to allocate that memory, i've tried BIOS but the option for allocating memory is not listed there.

Please help

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-13G - question about GPU memory

In specification is clearly described:
> memory amount : up to 4,090 MB shared memory with 8 GB system memory installed, and up to 8,186 MB with 16 GB system memory, (with pre-installed 64-bit Windows? operating system).
With other words: with more RAM your GPU will use more memory.
It works automatically and you cannot change anything.

So if you want to have more GPU memory you must upgrade RAM.

My Toshiba C50D-B doesn't remember that numlock is on and keeps forgetting date/time if accu is zero or removed.
The laptop starts then by saying that the battery is low.
So I wanted to replace the battery, but I couldn't find any.
In the manual there is no talking of replacing the cmos battery.
And when I look at the board (after opening the backside) I can;t find any battery.
I can find an empty place in the motherboard, suggesting that there should be a battery, but there isn't a connection for it.

How can I replace the battery or is it not possible? In the latter case it's a shame, because things don't work as they have to.
I have the laptop one year, but now I'm so tired to correct every time the NumLock and once in a while the time/date, that I want to solve this issue.

Answer:No CMOS Battery in Satellite C50D-B

The empty CMOS battery does not need to be replaced…
You need to charge it again.
How?

This is easy… you need to connect the AC adaptor and the notebook must be ON for at least 18-20 hours
After the main battery has been fully charged, the CMOS battery will start to charge too.

Answer:My Satellite C50D-A-13L doesn’t start

Hello Francine
When you turn on the computer, do you have the Toshiba logo appears or not?
Whether it is a software problem (loading windows) and I need you reformatted your hard drive with backup DVD (it happened to me the other day). Otherwise, if the Toshiba logo does not appear, I think it's a hardware problem (the problem in general graphics chipset on the motherboard, and there is trickier. if your computer is still under warranty, do play ... it happened to my sister and out of warranty repair cost about 300 Euros.

There are plenty of questions to ask in your case, if you have the Toshiba logo appears it would be better for you.
Good luck.

Hi, I am having a major issue with my laptop. The backlight for the display will not work. I can only faintly see the picture. I tried adjusting brighness, no joy. It outputs fine to a monitor. I have tried replacing the screen and the connecting ribbon but the issue still presents itself. Does anyone have any ideas??? I am at a loss.

Paul

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-138 backlight not working

Hi

Connect external monitor and check if the same display problem would appear on the external display.
In case everything would appear properly on the external display, the problem must be the internal display panel.

The notebook’s display panel seems to use a LED backlight as the light source.
So probably the display’s backlight doesn’t function correctly. In such case the display panel must be replaced.

You should ensure that you are using compatible panel because many notebook displays support different technology (TFT panels without backlight and display supporting backlight like the one build in the C50D-A)

Have just purchased the above laptop and really dissapointed that it is so slow. I haven't put any new software on it but just loading the internet is a real drag. I only need it for basic internet surfing and creating word documents so don't need a high performance computer but it takes about 30 sec-1 min to load an internet page. Is this normal?
See full spec below. Many thanks.

TOSHIBA SATELLITE C50D-138 LAPTOP, AMD E1-2100, 2GB, 500GB, WINDOWS 8.1, 15.6"
The Toshiba C50D-138 is great for or everyday computing and basic use, featuring the AMD E1-1200 Dual Core processor and 2GB memory.

The 500GB hard drive also allows you space to save all of your pictures, music and files.

Enjoy your favourite films on your built-in DVD player and talk via Skype through the webcam and integrated microphone.

Bluetooth 4.0 is installed as well as having the option of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 to transfer data.

The black chassis has a textured finish which helps eliminate finger prints and gives a classic look.

Answer:My new Satellite C50D-138 runs really slow

On this forum many people reports about similar issue. You must understand that notebook with factory settings is not optimized and every one of us should make own OS configuration.
For instance new notebook is set to make automatic Windows updates. With other words when Windows detects new updates it will be download and installed in the background and you will don't know that something like this run in the background. This will slow down notebook performance and internet activity rapidly.

I recommend you to install all Windows updates and then change settings in control panel > windows update > change settings. Use option ?Check for updates but let me choose...?. in the future you will be informed about updates but you can install them when you don't need machine for your work.

Test it please

Answer:Power Issues on Satellite C50D-A

Usually one of the mentioned settings must be enabled in order to start the notebook automatically when opening the display lid
1) if hybrid shutdown has been performed in Windows 8 (default shutdown option)
2) or the "Panel Open - Power On" feature is activated.

Since only one option must be enabled, I would recommend you to check your system settings. Please check if your power on issue would appear using different scenarios:

Hybrid shutdown is disabled / the "Panel Open - Power On is enabled
Hybrid shutdown is enabled / the "Panel Open - Power On is disabled
Hybrid shutdown is enabled / the "Panel Open - Power On is enabled

Hi,

I have a problem with the battery on my Toshiba Laptop. I plug it in and it says "Charged (100%)" but as soon as I disconnect the power cable the battery drops down to exactly every time 50%. I'm not sure how long it has been doing this but it's very frustrating not being able to have full power (on long journeys etc.). I have tried on Power Saving mode and High Performance.

I have tried removing the battery and powering on the Laptop and charging it overnight after it says 100%. I have been looking everywhere and no-one seems to have this problem and its ruining the heck out of me.

Purchased: December 2013
Running: Windows 8.1

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Charging issue on Satellite C50D

Try to use notebook until battery will be completely empty and load it again up to 100%.
Check please if this will change anything. If not, I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider or your local dealer.

I?ve already heard about issue when the battery shows 100% charge as long as the AC-Adapter is connected but it can?t hold the charge once the adapter is disconnected. In such case battery must be replaced.

Contact service, explain the situation and follow instructions given by authorized service provider.
