Preferred Solution: Qosmio X770 - BSOD and Crash Dump Driver Failed to load

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Found an user who had the same issue with the dump file and this could be solved by deleting paging file, then resetting it and after that seems to have solved the problem...

Hi,

I posted this annoying problem on the MS community but I think only useless moderators are running that forum, hopefully that is not the case here.

I am using win7 64 bit and recently my machine can no longer hibernate for a second time after a clean boot (after a clean boot it can hibernate but then it cannot after a resume). I noticed Event 45 in the event viewer and it does not make any sense. I tried to hibernate from the command line but I am getting a message "not enough storage is available to process this command.(8)". When the hibernation fails I got back to the login screen (as if I locked the station).

It is an annoying problem since I have to restart the PC every other day, so if anyone smart enough to give some insights, I would be grateful.

Hi all first post here so please correct me if I some how mess something up.

Been getting BSOD at random intervals and need to fix it ASAP.

Things to note:

-No BSOD in safe mode
-CPU is running at 90% at idle in normal mode (around 5% in safe mode)
-Defragged the computer for close to 16 hours without a single BSOD, however BSOD are far more frequent since then.
-Graphics card fan is extremely loud in safe mode

STOP: 0x000000D1

Graphics card is a ATI Radeon 6770
CPU is an AMD phenom II quad-core

Crash dump zip should be attached, but please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks, Finn

Sorry this is a newbie question. So I went to this laptopvideo2go website to download the latest driver for my X770. Accompanying every driver is this .inf file.

Apparently we're meant to install both.
I've downloaded the latest driver only and installed it without any problems. I haven't installed the accompanying .inf file.

What is the .inf file for and WHAT happens if you don't install it as well?
If I must install it, how do I do it?

Do I install the inf file first or the driver?

Is it possible to just install the driver and ignore the inf?
heard people having all kinds of issues with the mod inf file. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit on an X770.

Hi,

I am wondering if Toshiba plans to release the updates any time soon i.e. for nVidia??
I am a gamer, I would like my stuff to be as up to date as possible, because not only do I play, but also stream and hope some stuff would be fixed in the next patch.

Cheers

Answer:How long will it take Toshiba to update any driver for Qosmio X770?

This Qosmio X770 is newest notebook model and usually newest notebook models are delivered with latest display driver. Let?s see if Toshiba will offer some updates in the future. I don?t think anyone here can give you proper answer to your question.

As gamer you have probably much experience with this stuff so I?m pretty sure you know that updates for notebooks are not offered so often as for desktop PCs. Anyway, from time to time visit Toshiba download page and check if Toshiba offers new display driver.

Hello,

I've just bought a Qosmio x770-107 with 3D Vision package from nVidia. Everything is fine, I could enable 3D Stereoscopic with the preinstalled drivers.

Then tried to access some online 3D content (in browser) and after a test ([http://www.3dvisionlive.com/3dv-html5-detection]) I've discovered that I have an outdated driver version for my GTX560M card, and need to update it before.

First step was to download the correct driver from nVidia (280.26-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql). Then I've seen that did not pass the system compatibility test saying that I don't have the proper hardware for it, which is untrue, verified couple of times what I've downloaded, and covered hardware including GTX560M.

So this is first problem.

Then investigating further, I managed to modify the INF files in order to accept and install the driver.
It worked, I had the latest driver from nVidia (using clean install, removing everything first).
Then I've discovered a new (frustrating) problem, when trying to reactivate 3D Stereoscopic, saying that I don't have a stereo monitor and disables this feature from menu.

How can we obtain proper and fully workable latest drivers for our GPU, with 3D Vision support ?

Regards,
Razvan

Answer:Qosmio X770 - No 3D vision support with nVidia driver

Hi buddy,

That?s a typical example why Toshiba recommends only installing their own drivers and not 3rd party drivers from nVidia.

The reason is that nobody has tested these drivers on your notebook so probably some functions like 3D vision don?t work. Furthermore your notebook could overheat due different thermal management.

I would recommend installing the latest Toshiba display driver that you can find on Toshiba page. These drivers are tested and will work properly with your notebook.

Nvidia released new beta which supports GTX560M. Some say it does some better performance and solves some issues on their games. Worth a try. Supposedly it installs all drivers, 3D and rest....

Bare in mind it is BETA!

Answer:Qosmio X770-107 - NVIDIA driver update 285.27 beta

most of us (i think) cannot install nvidia drivers not because our card is not supported in the release, but because there's software control blocking x770 users from installing any other drivers than toshiba's

this nvidia release is without exception, does support our graphics card but when executed it is unable to proceed with the installation

next time you're going to put someone's hopes up try doing it by yourself, unless you actually can install it on your x770 then sorry, because i cant

This is a very strange problem.

After a reinstall of the Toshiba N2230 WiFi driver whilst investigating a WiFi connection problem (by uninstalling and reinstalling in Device Manager) I now find the WiFi card is completely disabled, although in Device Manager the device is "installed and working properly" and lists the driver. Toggling the WiFi off/on key does not have any effect.

So I reinstalled the Intel driver from Toshiba's website for the X870 (which crashes, but you can run it from the temporary folder it creates) The result was Bluetooth got uninstalled and now is an "unknown device" and refuses to install at all. If I try to direct it manually to the driver it says the driver is not for this device?!?!

I also tried Intel's own drivers specifically for Windows 10 with no success. Sadly, I did not realise that system restore had been disabled so I cannot roll back, which I expect would have fixed this problem.

The laptop is upgraded to Windows 10, this is the first time I have had any problems with the WiFi connection since it was upgraded.

Does anybody have an idea why this has happened...and maybe a fix? I don't think there is any fault with the card, this looks to be a driver problem.

Answer:Qosmio X770-119 - N2230 driver installed but not working, Bluetooth uninstalled.

Update. Borrowed an external USB adaptor (TP-Link Archer T2U), disabled the internal adaptor in device manager and installed the TP-Link. Result is the same, device is listed on device manager as working properly, drivers are digitally signed but the adaptor is not enabled.

There is no vpn software on the laptop, I tried disabling antivirus, run sfc scannow and disabled driver signing just in case. But to no avail.

My PC started BSOD-ing a few days ago and now does it every few hours.

It starts with this error:

Hi!

I have installed Win8 Pro now several times, and have been debugging it since with the help of suggestions from this forum. Currently the machine works great. It is fast, and does not use too much system resources. Unfortunately it was rather unusable after the previous installations. The 1st serious problem I ran into was running the SF Diagnostic Tool. Initially I was unable to find the generated info, or to be able to click the OK button.

I have 1 system error left, and I am open to suggestions as whether no to care, or where to look for appropriate suggestions. The error exists since the 1st startup of Win8. Apart from UEFI etc there are no installation choices I have made (so far).

The MS Systernals tool "psloglist -f e" reports:

System log on \\LABBIE-HANS:
[2789] volmgr
Type: ERROR
Computer: Labbie-hans
Time: 4-2-2013 07:06:44 ID: 46
Crashdumpinitialisatie is mislukt!

This translates nicely into" Crash dump initialization failed", and gives me the creeps. Looking for solutions I found that people increased their page file. I did that, but the problem remained, and even worse, the Win8 startup time and shutdown time increased both considerably. I intend to reduce the page file again, but have not done so yet.

The error message is only displayed during a cold or warm (reboot) startup.

2 questions:

1. How to solve?
2. How to test that dumping indeed does not work?

Kind regards, and thanks in advance,

Hans Lodder

Answer:Crash dump initialization failed

First, here's a start on how crash dumps are generated: BSOD Crash Dump Generation

Next is my experience. I've been doing BSOD analysis for at least 9 years and have come to the conclusion that this type of error isn't very important to most people. It is frustrating to those of us who do BSOD analysis - but it's, quite frankly, just not worth the effort to troubleshoot (because BSOD's are infrequent for most people - and we usually don't have the time to troubleshoot this when someone's in the middle of their system crashing).

I would be more concerned why the system crashes - rather than if a crash dump was generated.

FWIW - you can test it by setting the system up to manually generate a crash dump and seeing if a dump file is generated. Here's the registry entries that need changing/creating:

KEYBOARD CRASHES
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kbdhid\Parameters
For USB keyboard (Press Ctrl-ScrLK-ScrLK to initiate the STOP 0xE2 crash):
CrashOnCtrlScroll
REG_DWORD

USB Keyboard crash w/Ctrl/Scroll Lock/Scroll Lock

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters
For PS2 keyboard (Press Ctrl-ScrLK-ScrLK to initiate the STOP 0xE2 crash):
CrashOnCtrlScroll
REG_DWORD
0x1
PS2 Keyboard crash w/Ctrl/Scroll Lock/Scroll Lock

After installing SP2 I've crashed a half dozen times. The screen goes black, the tower beeps and that's it. I've waited but it doesn't come back. Ctrl alt delete does nothing so eventually I'm forced to push the power button. Here is the error from the event viewer.

The thing I find odd is that the exact same error happens two minutes before the actual crash. There are no application errors in this timeframe. The error above is followed by an unexpected shutdown error, obviously. And upon restart I get another error, but it does restart OK. Not sure if it's related.

Answer:Crash dump initialization failed!

What file is 2 gb? A movie or huge archive of files?

Anyway, you could have a virus preventing you from transferring anything over, but this is probably unlikely. A more realistic problem is that your hard drive is physically corrupted.

0x80000000 errors have to do with corrupt drivers.

You could go to device manager and try to roll back and then update drivers.

You could also do a system restore to the days before this started to happen if it is not a physical error.

Short version - I'm fairly sure this is the standard DPC_WATCHDOG bugcheck, but I'm having trouble pinning down the responsible driver, because the crash dump has a zeroed stack. The dps info suggests it's a network driver issue but I don't know where to go from here, or if I need a non-zeroed stack to do more.

I have been getting this error message in my Event Viewer log ever since.I have even reinstalled my OS (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64),and the issue came at the very beginning.

Interestingly, almost everyone here reports this error with BSOD cases, but not on my machine.

I can't figure out whats causing this,if there is a specific program or faulty piece of hardver.

What comes on my mind is the fact that I have dual boot, with Windows XP Professional SP3 x86 as primary system, and Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 installed afterwards.

The only change I've made on Windows XP is,to "make it blind" for Windows 7 Ultimate,in order to enable recording System Restore points on my Win 7 system, using a .reg file, which is accompanied with this post.

I hope someone has the answer, since I've been roaming the internet for several months, but no good.

Looking forward.

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my ASUS F5GL laptop. If I try to launch a game like Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod or Just Cause 2, not long after actually leaving the menu and beginning to play (anywhere between 2-5min), the whole laptop just silently crashes. I checked ALL the logs, and there is nothing in there, except something recorded at boot, saying the computer was not cleanly shutdown. When it does crash, a second before it crashes, a weird thin horizontal line appears in a random location on the screen, going all the way across the screen. This was happening under Windows Vista, but I just bought and did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's still happening. I have updated my drivers and it still happens. My OS is Vista Business 32bit, running on a HP Compaq 6715b Notebook. In the middle of September this year I suddenly noticed following event error: Event ID: 49 - Event Source: "volmgr". Followed by this message: "Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical memory". I have not found out what caused this error message, but from that date, I find this error message twice every time I boot my PC. I have no other error messages, and I have not noticed any problems with my PC, as far as I can see Vista and my PC work perfectly well together. I am informed that Microsoft has a hot-fix for this problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955635 dated July 25, 2008. However, in this document Microsoft recommends waiting for the next software update that will contain this fix, if I am not severely affected, because the hotfix could create unexpected effects. Nevertheless, I have received a lot of updates after September, and I have still this error message. Any gurus or other experts in this forum having ideas what to do? Should I just install the hotfix, or wait for more updates?

Answer:Error 49: Conf page file for crash dump failed

Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Save the report as an .nfo file, zip it up, and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

That'll give us some information about your system so that we can get started on trying to fix it.

Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

I get the error "The page failed to load" in control panel, but for a strange reason, it only occurs on every 5th attempt at opening a setting.

After this error, explorer.exe will either freeze/crash (and I need to kill it) or it'll just sit there still trying to load the page but allows me to close the window without it crashing.

How I reproduce the error:

1. I open control panel
2. It doesn't really matter which setting I choose to open, but for testing purposes I open "Ease of Access Center"
3. The first 4 times I open Ease of Access Center it loads just fine
4. The 5th time it shows a blank page with that error message centered!?

This seems to happen only on the 5th time and it seems to apply to the majority of the settings in control panel. I am absolutely clueless on the fix. It doesn't do this in safe mode. I suspect it could be a driver or just something in the registry but I'd love to be able to narrow this down and find the culprit without reinstalling clean.

Kudos for the desire to get straight to the debugging phase of troubleshooting, but there's a problem- what you're experiencing is not technically a "crash" in the sense that a process terminated in an abnormal way.

Not every error message constitutes a crash.

As a wild guess, is your UxTheme.DLL "patched" perhaps?

How do you use your Qosmio's speakers? You select Full Range Speakers (Front + Left) and Dolby?

How we can have the maximum out of our laptop's sound system?

Answer:Sound on Qosmio X770 - How do you use your Qosmio's speakers?

i have actually checked it out of curiosity

even if you route your audio in windows (so called "software routing") through 2.0 (just left and right speakers), the subwoofer will still be working properly as there is a hardware "crossover" device inside of the laptop that routes the audio stream first through the woofer (but just a narrow band from like 0Hz to 200Hz or something) and then the rest is being routed through to the actual tweeters (high frequency speakers, or in this case 200Hz-high)

i would actually advise to use 2.0 configuration over 2.1 (stereo+subwoofer in windows) because 2.1 would mean you are using two frequency crossovers - the hardware one mentioned before and then another one inside of windows - and i am 100% sure their crossover frequencies are not the same, so you migh end up losing (or making it sound "muddy") some sound in the process

hope this was clear enough, if not i dont mind explaining this again

I have a Qosmio G30, Model No. PQG32C-AV605E with BIOS Version 3.40.
I want to update to 3.90 but I cannot enter Windows.

How do I update BIOS with no Windows available?
Is there a DOS utility?

If so, please send it and I will download it or send me an email on where to download.
The G30 I have has blue vertical lines across the screen when the machine starts up in VGA mode upon entering Windows for the first time.

But the machine can't enter windows, it crashes and dumps and restarts before that.
I replaced the RAM with new RAM but it had no effect.

I ran the diagnostics utility and the hard drives are OPTIMAL in RAID 1 so no errors there.
The reinstall of Windows went smoothly: I just can't get into VGA mode without lines.

I was told by Toshiba tech support that a BIOS upgrade would fix it.

Thanks for any helps.

Answer:Qosmio G30: blue vertical lines and blue screen crash dump

This evening I booted successfully into Windows XP using a utility called BARTPE. I am attempting now to update BIOS via the BARTPE boot menu. I will update this thread as I proceed.

Hello,
I've been experiencing multiple bluescreens daily and what's odd about them is they occur randomly while using many programs; however, I have noticed that they occur more frequently directly after opening a new tab, loading a new site or running a game (StarCraft II).
Looking through Event Viewer. I see a list of warnings and errors immediately prior to the BSOD. In chronological order:

9:07:18 PM CRITICAL- "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

9:07:28 PM WARNING- "The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_0483&PID_2016\5&249af6f9&0&2."

9:07:42 PM ERROR- "The previous system shutdown at 9:05:49 PM on ‎7/‎13/‎2011 was unexpected."

9:07:44 PM ERROR- "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x0000099e0000007e, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff80002a92885). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 071311-32869-01."

9:07:47 PM ERROR- "Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0"

I also get this warning quite often:

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

In my test rig on D: I have Vista x64 and was testing some software which caused some BSOD's.
In order for the maker to sort out why it's happening I wanted to send them the crash dump but can I find it? No!!
I have hidden and system files set to viewable and there simply is no crash dump anywhere that I can find on C:Windows or D:Windows, although the BSOD did say it was writing it and got to 100% before I rebooted.
Anyone experienced this "lost crash dump" syndrome?

(I've since had to uninstall the software in order to use that partition, so can't repro this without going to a lot of trouble).

Answer:Bsod - where is my crash dump?

the dump should be in D:\windows, but you can search for it *.dmp. the other place it may be hiding is D:\windows\minidump

Hello,

These days, I get BSoD in strange conditions: during startup, or during use, no pattern could be found.

The thing is, the memory dumps could not be written properly, which for me suggests trouble at the disk I/O level.
chkdsk has been run on startup and completed successfully.

How to investigate?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and would greatly appreciate some help.

I am having issues with BSOD and I know that I need to supply you with the dump file. The problem is that they are not being written. They used to be, but not anymore.

I have already enable them and have these settings on (in picture). It's very difficult to find out what is giving me BSOD without the dump :-(

Thanks in advance guys!

Answer:Cannot create crash dump on BSOD

Sometimes if the crash is hard enough or fast enough the system doesnt have time to generate the dump file
It is possible there is nothing you can do about it. If you want to be proactive about finding your cause there is steps you can take but it will basically involve testing as much hardware as possible and disabling most startup programs/services etc updating drivers, removing bad siftware to see if the error stops

What info can you give us about the crashes
do they occur at cetain times ? are they related to a particular piece of hardware/software etc ?

You can still run the SF tool and upload the info files which will still help us advise you even if they dont have the all important dump files

Hello,

For some time now, I have been having a lot of BSODs. Like up to 5 times a day. Sometimes it happens after a long time idling, sometimes when I stress the CPU. It can happen when I close my session, try to close the computer or restart it.

I had an overclock on everything, but for the last 3 days, I've been running at stock speeds, hoping that this might solve my problem.
Unfortunately, the BSODs continued to happen.
When I finally had some time to myself to research the problem, I decided to analyse my Crash Dump files (in C:\Windows\Minidump). But you see, I have CCleaner installed, and hadn't realized it was erasing those. So I only have the latest three.

Two of them had for Image_Name "ntkrnlmp.exe" and one had "eeCtrl64.sys"

I have joined these three crash dumps to this post. I was hoping you could help me understand what is wrong with my computer.
Oh, by the way, I think it all started when I installed the latest version of Norton 360 (v5.0.0.125). But it could be a coincidence. Or I could be remembering wrong.

Thank you for your help,

No Windows Updates installed. Most systems have at least 30 or 40. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Hi There,

I have a fairly new PC (approx 12months old) and recently it has been crashing at random times of the day. There is nothing in common with each crash i.e. I am doing different tasks at different times. Basically the PC just turns off and starts booting all over again. There is no BSOD dumps to check and the only thing I see in the event logs before the crash is the Multimedia Class Scheduler Service entering the "stopped" state. This happens many times throughout the day so I am sceptical as to blaming the issue on this windows service.

My setup is as follows:

- Intel DQ67SW Motherboard
- Intel i5-2400 CPU
- 4GB RAM
- Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-bit fully patched

This problem occurred right after purchasing the PC and because i have a good relationship with my supplier, they swapped out the power supply and motherboard to be sure. The problem went away for about 12 months but has now returned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is the output from SF_diagnostic_Tool.exe.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi guys!

So basically the problem is low FPS while playing games like Witcher 2 or "older" game like Battlefield BC2.
Using fraps I got like average 20FPS on High setting.

So I tried everything, changing nvidia settings, using gameboost, killing Toshiba software, power settings....
Does anyone have any suggestions how to resolve this except updating graphic driver (we all know Toshiba's policy about that). Is there any process, Win 7 catch or preinstalled Toshiba program that is blocking graphic card for max usage?

I assume you are speaking about a 2nd HDD controller?
Well, the HDD controller is a part of the motherboard and if the motherboard does not support such 2nd controller, you will not be able to add this?

You should know that there are different X770 on the market with different specifications? the X770-10P for example supports 2 750GB HDDs

For the past month, my computer has been experiencing frequent BSoD crashes, something it has not done with any frequency since it's assembly 5 years ago. Naturally, I want to fix the issue, so I got bluescreenview and promptly discovered that no crash dumps were being saved.

I have 2GB RAM and my virtual memory has my page file on my C: with a custom size of 3069 to 6138 (changed from all automatically managed in an effort to fix my missing crash dumps). I have an Asus G50VT-X5 and I just installed a new Intel 330 SSD 240GB and started with a fresh Windows 7 Pro install. I've installed all windows updates (including SP1) and all the latest driver updates from Intel, Nvidia and the Asus driver support site.

Every time I wake from sleep the computer freezes and then after a couple of seconds bsod's. I've uploaded a picture of the bsod and while in that picture it doesn't show it, I have seen that it proceeds to say something to the effect of "physical memory dump failed" or something like that.

I tried to use a program called WhoCrashed to give me information on the crash dump, but it doesn't seem to be detecting any crash dump files. The program has a feature to crash the computer to make sure it is recording crash dump files correctly and it turns out it does, just not when it bsod's from waking up.

Please let me know if you need any other information, and thank you all very much for your time and help.

Hi all. I have been having issues with a BSOD with this exact code for months now. I haven't been able to find any solution, and it's becoming quite an issue. Here is a picture of the blue screen: http://i.imgur.com/ueqbEwn.jpg

I've tried many things. I've ran memtest for the majority of a day, ran chkdsk, did a clean uninstall of my video drivers and reinstalled them with the latest version, all of this to no avail. My second issue is that no matter what I do, I cannot seem to produce a crash dump, which obviously makes pinpointing the issue very difficult. Here is a picture of my startup and recovery settings: http://i.imgur.com/LMbi1QZ.png

It happens generally when I open any game in fullscreen. I also noticed that it happens when I unplug the HDMI from my GPU and plug it back in. However, I don't believe the issue is related to my GPU hardware as this is a new GPU and I was having the same issue with my old GPU. But I am open to any possibility.

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated, whether it be for getting my PC to produce crash dumps or narrowing down the cause of the BSOD. I will provide anymore information on my PC if requested. Thanks!

I have a been experiencing regular crashes about every hour to BSOD, with the error "STOP: 0x000000F4" The computer does not restart after the BSOD, but goes to a black page that says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". When I press a key, the message is just displayed again. So I have to do a hard shutdown every time this happens. I have looked for the crash dump files, but all I can find is a very old memory.dmp file. So I do not think my computer is making the crash dump. I have tried following the instructions here: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD, but no luck. I would appreciate any advice for how to diagnose and solve the problem. Attached is the output from the DM Log Collector.

Hello everyone,

I have recently had a crash dump file appear in c:\windows\minidump after playing battlefield bad company 2.

For the most recent 5/29/2013 dump file I got a blue screen that says unexpected_kernel_mode_trap and nvddmkm.sym. This occured after I unistalled realtek audio and downloaded the default windows sound drivers then tried playing the game. Otherwise, I think the error message might have been different on the other dump files.

I am uploading it here for those who may wish to review it. However I cannot specify what the cause of this problem may have been.

Hello:
I've been dealing with intermitent BSODs for some time now. It's most always during game play...so when the GPU is being accessed the most..of course.

(note: I've had BSODs happen when a lot of multitasking is going on as well...but that is rare.)

I have done the following in the past year or so to resolve the issue:

- replaced video card all together
- replaced RAM
- reinstalled OS (winxp sp3)
- completely stripped / cleaned vid / sound drivers & reinstalled (a number of times actually)
- reinstalled games that freeze or seem to cause dumps / bsods

None of these things have resolved the original symptom, which is random BSODs during heavy usage...particularly gameplay

At this point, I'm thinking MB...ugh. Or maybe bad PCI / RAM slot...hard to tell...

My last resort is to hit up a forum such as this and get another set of eyes on the latest crash dump I'm analyzing. Maybe I've been staring at these so long on my own that I'm missing something obvious. Any help would be very much appreciated.

First - my sys specs (probably more than is needed) are attached as an HTM file for easy viewing

From yesterday, something made the PC show the BSOD.

Since then, then PC boots up and gets into windows OK. However, within only a minute or two, the HDD light will turn solid and the PC will stop responding to mouse clicks (though it will show the mouse movement). Within a minute or two after that, the BSOD arrives.

What I've noticed, is that even with the settings turned on for a memory dump, it never produces one (see attached photo) as it gets stuck on 'Initializing disk for crash dump...', as such, the SF tool cannot find a dump file.

I've uploaded the SF tool output anyway - in case it can provide something.

Here's what I've also done:
1) updated all drivers and SSD firmware - same behaviour occurs
2) replaced SSD primary drive with SATA drive (cloned image of SSD) - same behaviour occurs.
3) I have 4 memory modules and I ran both memtest86+ and windows memory diagnostics with the individual DIMMs in. One caused a BSOD during the Windows diagnostics, however, retest did not produce same result. Otherwise, no other errors reported. Booting with any combination of the 4 modules produces the same behaviour.

Answer:BSOD - cannot initialise disk for crash dump

Curious question, but are you able to boot into safe mode? and if you are able to boot into safe mode can you configure the system to create crash dumps from there? here's a tutorial on how to configure your computer to create a memory dump on BSOD: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

I struggled with this Hibernate problem. It suddenly stopped working and in event manager I see a problem with ftdisk.exe saying fail to load crash dump driver ...

After getting a bit of tips on the Internet to try, nothing worked!

Now I have found the cause so I want people to know and deal with it.

I think the reason is because your Windows is infected with some bug that disables Hibernation to keep teh system running for more hacking or run some malware. Here is how to fix it assuming you have a backup of the OS (\WINDOWS directory)

1/ Make sure you have access to a good backup when the system worked.
2/ You cannot restore this backup using your existing infected Windows. The bug will modify your restore to but itself right back in!
3/ You will need to install Windows XP again as a second copy into another directory like \WIN1
4/ You will now have a boot menu with 2 Windows. Boot from this fresh installation (and keep this installation for future use to restore all your backups!)
5/ Now restore the good backup. You only need to restore C:\WINDOWS

That's all what the solution is. You may now set your account to power user rather than admin so that it is harder to infect the computer again.

Good luck!

I want to help anyone reading this post after the countless hours I've spent solving this problem. The problem is most likely rootkit malware attack.

To check and remove rootkits, download and run Kaspersky's TDSSKiller:

One my computer it found one infection, quaranteened the file, rebooted my computer, and hibernation now works.

After countless attempts to fix hibernation, this was the only solution for me.

A little extra information, I have just added some new hardware in this box, new optical drive, extra hard drive, also more memory, so it is running with 2 dvd burners, 2 sata HD's the original system drive is 320gb and the extra drive is 500 just for more space, and the memory is now 4.5 gb. I use this computer mainly for dvd/cd burning, including lightscribe printing. This is the second time i seen this blue screen, both times happened overnight when i set a lightscribe task. I use SureThing CD Labeler deluxe 5, and it utilizes both devices to print my labels. the job finishes, but when i turn the monitor on, its blue screen.

Thank you for any help anyone can give me, no rush.

Hi Guys,

i?ve got an P5BY5E X770 Qosmio Laptop, with an 500 GB SSH and 500 GB HDD.

I want to upgrade the System Hard Drive to an 160 GB SSD, and now my Question.

If i want to use the Recovery Function there is a mistake. If i want to use the Recovery, it only works with the Original Configuration of Hard Drives, is there any way, to fix that?

And is there a manual, how to remove the first HDD?

Answer:Want to upgrade my Qosmio X770 with an SSD

> If i want to use the Recovery, it only works with the Original Configuration of Hard Drives, is there any way, to fix that?

Possibly this does not work because the SSD drive has an different size? the point is that recovery disk formats the HDD and creates the partitions again?possibly the reason is the difference in the partition sizes.
In such case you would need to use an clean Microsoft Windows disk to install the windows system.
Necessary drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

Have just did an upgrade but it was a clean upgrade ( keep nothing etc ) . Didnt check here first which was silly but now want to get my laptop running smoothly. Surprised that there are no win8 drivers available so should I download and use the win7 #64 bit # drivers ?

Or does win8 supply decent drivers of its own ? Should I use the 560m 64 bit win8 drivers from the Nvidia site or just leave the ones that win8 put in?

Laptop is running but its not smooth and gaming is not good.

What drivers do I need to get it going smoothly ? Also I guess the win7 64 utilities and other toshiba software will work ok ?

Answer:Qosmio X770 and Windows 8

It's better to use Win8 drivers since many of the Win7 drivers/utilities are not compatible with Win8.

If your main focus is to get the graphics working, use the notebook driver from www.nvidia.com

Why does the Qosmio x770 only have one partition ? the harddisk is 500gb,as this laptop is presented as
also a gaming laptop.
Can i safely repartition this drive,if so idiot proof help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Qosmio x770 why only one partition

You can add easily another partition or you can change the existing partition as well. But before doing this I recommend creating an Toshiba recover disk as mentioned in user manual.
The point is that HDD partition modification can affect the HDD recovery and in worst case you would not be able to get access to HDD recover option.

However, to create new partition click right on Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management
Here you can shrink the partition and can use the free space in order to create another partition.

Answer:Qosmio X770-116 - can i upgrade CPU to i7

On this forum we have discussed many times about COU upgrade. To have better performance many people want to upgrade CPU. CPU upgrade is not supported and each notebook model is designed, especially cooling system, to run with certain hardware platform.

Generally speaking Qosmio notebooks have the best hardware with excellent performance so I don?t know why do you think about CPU upgrade. In my opinion you should upgrade RAM and HDD. It is supported and can be done by notebook owner without losing valid warranty.

Upgrade RAM to maximum and upgrade HDD with SSD and you will see big difference. You will be surprised how fast your notebook is.

I?ve done it on my notebook. It runs perfect now. Think about all this.

Hello,

ive bought the X770-107, and i want to change the First HDD, but i dont know how to remove the first HDD..

A Cable is over the first HDD leading to the 2nd HDD Controller.

I want to change it, with a SSD 160 GB .. Does somebody know, if i can remove the two screws over the 2nd HDD Controller to remove the First HDD??

Sry, my english is a little bit rusted.

Answer:Change HDD in Qosmio X770-107

Hi

As far as I know before removing the main HDD you have to remove the 2nd HDD which is placed near the CD/DVD drive.
After removing the HDD cover at the bottom of the unit, you can remove the 2nd HDD by pulling the tab attached to the HDD.
To remove the main HDD, you have to remove the HDD board firstly.
The HDD board is secured by one screw.
After the screw has been removed, you should be able to remove the HDD board.
Then remove the main HDD by pulling the tab attached to the HDD.

But be very very careful? and don?t use force in any case.

Hi guyz,

i have had bad experience with qosmio before, atm i m looking for new machine. i like to ask about whats ur opinion about Qosmio x770-107.

Also, dont mind suggestion for other notebook too which works fine.

Answer:Your Opinions about Qosmio X770-107

I bought qosmio X770 for its specifications. This is my first toshiba computer and probably if I am ever going to buy a gaming computer I will NOT choose Toshiba.
If you are buying a gaming laptop check that it has regular updates for all its components.
I would not recommend Toshiba, Asus, MSI for a gaming computer. All have issues.
I am not sure about Alienware or those other highend little known brands as I didn't have those ones.
Seems like gamers are just limited to big "cans" on their tables.

I am just disappointed with all so called "gaming" laptops lately. They are just money magnets for fools like us to buy them.

Investigate those new ones AMD fusion laptops. low price good performance.
If you have tons of money get some custom built laptop with 24/7 customer support which gives a damn about their customers.

Cheers!

Hi, (yes I'm another who has joined this forum when only in need)

About an hour ago I dropped my Qosmio X770 to the floor it conspired to land on it's front (with the lid open) thus causing some infuriating superficial damage. Then when I picked it up I could hear the hard drive beeping and the system had froze. I immediately in anger turned it off and proceeded to get myself into a state where I can't believe I dropped a near ?1,500 3 month old laptop. Gutted.

Upon reboot it told me that it couldn't find a somewhere to boot from. I took the bottom off and set about hooking up my hard drive to an external reader thing that there was in my house. The part solid-state drive, didn't spin up at all and just started beeping at me.....

The other HDD sounded normal but was protected so couldn't see any data.

Everytime I booted up my laptop I was told to create a recovery disk, which of course I didn't. So now I am in a panic.

Where do I start? Can I use the other partition at all? I am really down in the dumps right now. A sense of dread has descended upon me.

Help me mighty forum.

Chelm

Answer:Dropped my Qosmio X770

Well, I can understand how do you feel at the moment. it's not a feeling that anybody wants to feel.

Anyways, my answer may not be helpful but I will try my best. Since everything else works properly; the screen and the motherboard are the most important parts to worry about, the problems is then well defined. The worst thing you may do is to replace your primary hard disc, which is pretty expensive I know. You can also order the recovery media from Toshiba for free during the warranty period (still not sure about this). You may also have made yourself a recovery disc when you first got your laptop, this will save you ordering it from Toshiba guys.

I hope everything works good for you.

Hi,

question 1: wondering if there was a way to remove the 3D part of this laptop, disable, uninstall? never going to use, and i hate that it automatically enable itself when starting up games.

question 2: is there a way to turn off the red light on the keyboard?
it's kinda using unnecessary power now that am using a wired keyboard with my 42 inch led tv.
and if there are anything else i could turn off to make my laptop less prone to overheat, while playing games.
Am using a cooler plate, but it's really not helping at all.

and the final question: played guild wars 2 beta, the fps is shockingly unstable on low settings, i mean.. this laptop is a powerhouse for a laptop, that can't be normal? am running the latest nvidia drivers.
all drivers are up to date.
Could the hardware be damaged? I've had an incident were i was watching a movie, suddenly the screen froze flickering with red lines and squares, had to turn the laptop off using the power button.

Answer:Few questions about Qosmio x770

1.) Go onto Nvidia control panel and disable it from there.

2.) Yes there is. Press and hold 'FN' key, then press the 'z' key. ON, OFF OR on a timer are available.

3.) It's unlikely it is damaged. Are other games fine? It is a beta remember. They do test on varies laptops, drivers, bios combinations. What a beta is for. You could try downloading some beta nvidia drivers as in the descriptions it gives examples of fixes specific games (which is kinda cool)

"Fixed instances of very low frame rates in Deus Ex: Human Revolution (DX11)" etc etc

Hi All

Please help me here. i have just purchased the Qosmio X770-107 Laptop, and I have set up the 3D as per the Nvidia settings. Now I am trying to get the 3D movies to play. On the laptop it has a few sample clips (movie trailers), which I am trying to watch to get the 3D to work. The Nvidia comes with a sample slide show, and the 3D graphics work perfectly with the supplied glasses.

Under the User Manual, Toshiba states that one must use the pre-installed "Toshiba Video Player", which supports the 3D playback. I have opened that and and changes the settings under 3D to the L side and R side playback, to convert to 3D. It cannot be the glasses or display drivers as I mentioned above, the Nvidia supplied slide show works perfectly.

But the problem then comes in as the sample clips do not open in that player. The clips only open up in Windows Media, but then it has a LH screen and a RH screen. (I hope this makes sense).

Is there anyway of opening these files in the Toshiba Player to enable the 3D playback? I do not want to go out and waste money buying 3D games and movies if I cannot use it on my Laptop.

I have googled for help etc but to no avail.

Please, if anyone can give me suggestions or tips, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Vidor

Answer:Qosmio X770-107 - 2D L&R converting into 3D

Hi

First of all the 3D gaming and 3D blu-ray is supported? you can read here in the forum about this theme. Of course 3D needs the supplied glasses.

Here is a nice doc from Toshiba about Toshiba Blu-ray Disc Player and the 3D settings.
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB1C038C0000R01.htm

The Toshiba Video Player can be used to play 3D content and to convert 2D into 3D.
As far as I know it set by default to 2D so you have to press 2Dto3D conversion in order to get 3D. DVD videos and DVD-VR and files like mp4 are supported and depending on the video content it might be not possible to play this in 3D.

Note: also the WinDVD BD for toshiba is preinstalled. This is different software and it can be used only for Blu-ray playback! If you want to play other content (DVD), you have to use Toshiba video player.

By the way: there is an update for Toshiba Video Player on toshiba European driver page: video player v 4.00.7.01-A? check if you can run this update.

I have a Qosmio X770 with two 4GB RAM modules installed but the system details show that the total system memory is 4.00GB RAM.
It also shows only 4 processor cores when there are 8 shown in device manager.

If I take out either RAM module, the system still shows 4GB RAM.
Either chip in either slot shows up as 4GB but nothing I do can get the system to show 8GB.

What is going on?

Answer:Qosmio X770 - 4GB RAM not shown

Hi

I assume you are using Win 64bit…

The 64bit OS is able to handle more than 3.2GB RAM… so probably the issue is related to wrong settings in the msconfig.
Go to msconfig (in search type msconfig)

In the “BOOT” tab click on the “Advanced options” button.
Then Uncheck the Maximum memory box and click OK

Then the max memory limit should not exist.

Hey Guys,

I found two entries in Systeminformation tools, and i cannot believe if its right.

[4 Ram Slots|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/804/ram4.jpg/]

If there are really 4 Ram slots, maybe its possible to run the notebook with 16 GB RAM .. (4x4 GB - because 8 GB Modules possible not supported) .

Anybody here, who can verify if there are really 4 RAM Sockets in the Notebook??

Programs i used to make the slots visible :

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X770-116, part.nr PSBYSE-01N013BT, serial no 8B088257K.
Windows 7 Home Prem is installed.

Usually when I stop working, I shut-down or I use the normal sleep.
The option was there to choose also deep sleep, which I wanted to try.
Sadly enough my portable does not want to wake up anymore.

When I push the power button, I can see the light of the power button (red) and hear the ventilator.
Besides this: nothing.

I read on the internet that there are a lot of problems with the deep sleep.
One of the tricks was to remove the battery and the RAM for 30 minutes, but that did not help for me.

Can anybody help me with some tips ?

Thanks

Answer:Qosmio X770 does not wake up

With deep sleep you mean hibernation mode, right?

Hello, hello,

so here I have a Qosmio X770-10M PSBY5E and I have 4GB of RAM, and I would change in 8GB, so I spotted RAM sticks of LDLC here thus having as reference DDR3-SDRAM PC3-10600 SO-DIMM 204-pin 1333 MHz.

I used a program called PC Wizard to find the reference supported by my motherboard.
So I found this DDR3-SDRAM PC3-10700 SO-DIMM DDR3-1333

So here is my pc can support the 10700 RAM and I want are 10600 and both are at a frequency of 333MHz 1 so I guess there should not be any problems, but now I want just to be sure to avoid damage to my computer.

Thank you in advance for your answers. Regards

Answer:Compatible RAM for Qosmio X770

According notebook specification your notebook can handle with max 8GB RAM so you can use 2 x 4GB modules with part number PA3918U-1M4G.

I?ve checked Kingston page and for this Qosmio are offered 4GB RAM modules only.

I have X770-11C and I cant Use Wi-fi. The Bar with the signals show "X" and when I try to establish a new connection it asks to switch it with the Fn key or with the manual key on the front side of the laptop.

There is no button or key anywhere on this laptop so I try to use FN F8 and it does not work.
Where Can I try to switch wi fi on?

Tnx

Answer:Qosmio X770-11C - Wi-Fi without connection

Hi,

The wi-fi switch is the touch button (second button - after the Eco mode button).
When you press it, it should show an icon in the middle of the screen with 'on' or 'off'.

When it's ON, if you still see the "X" use FN + F8 to switch your wifi or bluetooth on.

I've read the sticky, but I really hope this is the area where I put this.

I have Windows Vista, and use Internet Explorer.

The problem is that I just had my computer crash tonight. It sort of froze while I was watching Youtube and I think I had a few tabs open. I saw it freeze and then this blue screen came up saying it was dumping info on the disk or something, then it closed down. I restarted, clicked the 'fix now' button on AVG to turn the protection back on and did a scan. No virus was found.

I came on here and registered, looked up Blue Screen Of Death. I found a thread linking to a program, so I followed the Bleeping Computer posters instructions to get all this text about things called mini dumps. (below)

I don't know what caused this, other than maybe my D Drive doesn't have much memory left. Should I be worried, and is there anything I need to do that I haven't done?
(Please answer in very short words, I've only managed to learn all that stuff tonight ^ )

Thanks for reading and providing this site.

I have had BSOD for following files: partmgr.sys,volmgrx.sys, ntfs.sys, srv.sys,msrpc.sys.  I have verified that I have the settings established in Control Panel, System, Advanced System settings, Advanced with checks on virtual memory (9GB Ram, setting
5143MB), kernel memory dump selected, overwrite existing file, Dump file:%SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP.  I have checked the registry to verify these settings and verifies C:\pagefile.sys is on C: My OS is in a partition D: on the C: drive. Is this the problem?
I don't have but 997 MB free on D: (I have 530GB free on C:)

My Windows 7 will not write a dump file of any type!

Hi.
I keep getting IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD and I'd like to get it resolved.
I've tried a clean install of OS, resetting BIOS settings and driver updates, but none have helped. PC passed a Intel CPU check and Memtest86+ check.

Here is a screenshot from Speccy https://s32.postimg.org/4on61lgzn/specs.png

Answer:IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD 1-3 times a day, crash dump attached

I have a very similar sounding problem, have checked both ram sticks individually and have run memtest86+ and am a bit stuck as to what to do now.

I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue. I have run memory checks, even re-seated the RAM cards, but to no avail.

When trying to shut down the computer, I encounter a BSOD with a memory crash dump that soon goes to a login screen. I am unable to shutdown, except via Safe Mode.

I have perused some older posts but there seems to be unique reasons for the problems, like specific drivers.

The key that I have seen, is that you experts have been able to open the dmp file and peer into the reason (driver) causing the problem. Can you kindly do the same for my case?

I have attached a copy of the latest (today) dmp file in zip format.

Thank you for your help.

Answer:Memory Crash Dump (BSOD, Product 768_1)

How can I read a .dmp file that persistently happens on my computer while trying to shutdown?
I'd like to sift through its contents to determine what the problem may be.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Windows Vista x64. I was scrolling through my Vista Themes. Scrolling, not applying any of them. Active was the default Aero skin. As soon as I scrolled to a certain theme I got bluescreened. I'm trying to find the culprit file please help me. By the way, the rundll32.exe is the skin browser itself. I tried repeating what I was doing but scrolling over the theme didn't crash me again.

Hey there, I'm having random BSoD's, anywhere from a couple hours to a day or so. Not exactly sure when they started happening, since the computer used to reboot itself (I changed that so I could see the stop error). Here's a small history of some problems I'd been having prior to the BSoD's:I had been using Nintendo's WiFi USB Connector (by Buffalo), and had many problems with it, mostly with not connecting to the internet (using the Nintendo Wii and DS), but my computer also randomly froze completely (no reset, no blue screen, nothing), with no indication of why. Usually it was just sitting on the desktop with nothing running but my Firewall and basic utilities (see under Software). This happened at random times, usually at night, and had happened while I was at the computer as well. I talked to Nintendo, and they told me not to use Spy-bot, Ad-aware, or AVG. I took them off (although I really didn't want to), and I still had the problems. So I am in the process of sending that back, and have completely uninstalled all of the software included with the USB WiFi connector. I had the exact same problem with a 3rd-party WiFi USB connector (WiFiMAX) before this. BTW the Nintendo tech Representative I spoke to was kind of a prick (you just don't whisper F**k! on a customer call!) and didn't seem to know what he was talking about (sounded like he was reading off of a screen). Here's the next piece of history:I upgraded the RAM from 256MB to 2GB (maximum allowed on ... I'm not sure why someone moved my post to the "Hijack this Logs and Analysis" area, since it's only for posting HijackThis logs. I'm having STOP errors, and my post concerns the Crash dump more than anything else. If someone could please move it back to a more appropriate area, I would appreciate it. Also it would be nice if I was notified that my post was moved, not sure how this works though (or who even moved it?)Here is a Crash Dump from today. The STOP error occurred while playing Diablo II (barely even 1 minute), and stated that LVMVDrv.sys was at fault. During the blue screen the music was going crazy and making strange grinding noises and repeating.__________________________________________________________________Microsoft ® Windows Debugger Version 6.7.0005.0Copyright © Microsoft Corporation. About a week ago, seemingly at random, I started getting lag spikes, where my audio would distort and mouse movement would be slowed, and basically everything would slow down for a few seconds. This has persisted over the last week, not always starting as soon as the PC would be turned on (I was doing troubleshooting of my own last night, which required the PC to be restarted several times, and I could recreate the lag from startup, whereas today it was only hours into use that it began). It seems to be when something is loading, mainly, but can also be while idle. I've been using DPC latency checker to monitor it (DPC claims it's a driver issue, but I've attempted to pinpoint it by disabling one by one with little results).

This eventually culminated in a BSOD, but not like I was used to. It was as if my computer was shutting down. My browser and all my programs shut themselves down, I got a couple of errors about my program's services being stopped while in use, which I clicked through, and only once nothing but my wallpaper was onscreen (no toolbar or anything) did the BSOD pop up. I was obviously worried, but relieved I'd have a crash dump to investigate. At the time I had it set to a kernel memory dump, but nothing has been generated. I have now switched to a Small Memory dump, but am unable to recreate the BSOD. I'm able to recreate the lag once it has started by itself, but before it starts I'm unable to recreate it.

I hope I've provided enough information/poste... Read more

I keep getting random PFN_LIST_CORRUPT BSOD's. All but one of them occur while playing BF2142, usually while a map is loading/unloading, or while trying to exit the game. I will also get occasional system "locks" during BF2142 that force me to reboot. I also got one (BSOD) while doing nothing more than surfing the web (after that one I had to reformat as it crashed my drive and wouldn't let me reboot). I have 4 crash dumps saved and they all show the same things:
Driver Fault
Memory Corruption

I have tested my memory separately, together, different slots, and found no errors. I had these issues on my old system using the same vid card. I went through two sets of Mushkin memory, but kept having the issue, finally RMA'd the mobo and upgraded to the AM2 platform. NOW THE PROBLEM RETURNS! I know the Microsoft site says bad memory, but I've gone through 3 different sets and still have the problem. I tested the hard drive, and also tried another...still get the BSOD's. I've narrowed it down to either PSU, or Vid card. ATI blames system memory, but I've ruled that out. Could the Vid card memory be ******* and causing the problem? I've tried old drivers, new drivers, Omega drivers (my system really didn't like those), but nothing helps. Anybody have any ideas?
