Re: Toshiba Satellite A300-129 : installing Windows XP

Question: Re: Toshiba Satellite A300-129 : installing Windows XP

Hi people,

I have a question concerning the Toshiba Satellite A300-129;
I would like to install Windows XP on it (due to stability problems with Vista) but when I enter the Windows XP setup I get the message that Windows Setup could not find any HDD's installed on this computer, even though the BIOS tells me there is one installed. Do I need a HDD-driver to install Windows XP on this machine?

thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi,

I guess, you should integrate sata drivers:

Hi,

I am putting Windows XP on a Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAGCA-09U01N.

I've downloaded all the drivers and installed them and now I am trying to install all the toshiba applicaion/Utilities so that they all work.
I've tried installing them in diffirent orders but keep coming up with the same problem.

The [FN]+[F1-12](Hotkeys) don't display what there doing like they should and some of them don't work at all like [FN]+[F2] and [FN]+[F6-7].

Does anyone know the correct order in which they are installed or offer any help?

I downloaded my drivers form here: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/a300/psagca-09u01n/download?os=22

Any Help would be appreciated.

Answer:Installing Toshiba Utilities on Satellite A300 PSAGCA

Hi

You have to install the TOSHIBA Common Module
The Common Module software is necessary and should be installed at first.
In my case it worked properly on another Toshiba notebook!

PS: There is a BIOS especially for Win XP
Should use it if you running Win XP

Answer:Need help installing Windows 7 on Satellite A300-1GC

Hi

The Win 7 drivers are not published for this notebook model yet.
You have to wait until all drivers for Win 7 would be released?

I noticed that more and more Win 7 drivers appears on the Toshiba European driver page? so it seems to be only a matter of time when the drivers would be released?

Hi everybody,

I am going to install windows xp on my new a300, but there are few things that i am not sure about.
Firstly, about the xp drivers, is the BIOS important? What does it do?
Also, with xp installed, will i be unable to use some of the functions that i can use in vista?

Here is the a300 drivers page. if anyone can tell me all the drivers that i need, that would be brilliant.

Answer:Installing Windows XP on Satellite A300

Hi!

If you use a 32bit OS like Windows XP you should use a BIOS for 32bit Windows systems and for 64bit the 64bit BIOS.
If you use the wrong BIOS, it could be that you can?t use all functions like FN keys. So you should make sure that you have the 32bit BIOS.

What you mean with functions that you couldn?t use some functions in Windows XP? You can use all functions of your notebook in Windows XP too but you need all drivers and they you can download on Toshiba.
So I think it?s no problem to use XP.

Answer:Installing Windows 7 on Satellite A300-1GC

Hi

I have Satellite A300 and use it with Win7 32bit for a long time now. At first I must say that my machine still has original BIOS version as your one. Fact is that you don?t need new BIOS if notebook runs well and stabile. Don?t change anything.
Back to your questions:

1)No. such application doesn?t exist. After clean Win7 installation you must download every single driver, tool or utility and install it one by one.

2)All drivers, tools and utilities you can download on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Here is my list how to install all you need:

-Win7
-chipset driver
-storage manager
-display driver
-sound driver
-modem driver
-supervisor utility
-infrared
-patches
-configfree
-VAP
-toshiba hardware setup
-HDMI control
-WLAN driver

Everything works well but missing some drivers

Added Vista drivers:
-Toshiba assist - work properly
-Card reader - installed properly
-Webcam driver for A500 - tested with Skype - work properly.
-Synaptics driver

My machine works perfectly with this install order. Test it.
At the end one more time: BIOS update is not necessary so don?t change anything.

Bought a new Satellite A300 which came preloaded with Vista and a load of other rubbish.
Set the BIOS to boot from CD to install Windows XP but just after loading drivers and files and just before
starting Windows XP install, system crashes with blue screen advising me :

A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer,
blah, blah. In other words blue screen of death ending with this message - STOP: 0xF78D2524, 0x00000000, 0x00000000

Now I've had quite a few machines over the years, but never encounter anything like this before when trying to
install an operating system.

Any advice much appreciated, otherwise unit will have to go back to vendor.

Thanks

Hi all!

Faced with the need to install *Windows XP* on my *Satellite A300-1OC.*

Here is the problem:
the *distribution OS integrated driver for SATA* downloaded from the site of Intel.
When you install XP no problem, but *when you drive where to install the system all the drive letters got mixed up*.
As already established system, the *laptop starts sometimes hang on for 2-3 minutes, then again operating normally.*

Help solve this problem and recommend the correct SATA driver for my computer.
And I would like to hear the difference, *if I put in the BIOS mode Compability or leave AHCI.*

Good day,
here is my problem:

1. I have just bought the Toshiba Satellite A300-1QD and since there is Vista basic on it and I have Vista ultimate I decided to instal it on the laptop.
After I formated everything and I deleated the partition I created a new one.
After this I installed Vista now I am at the point where it says completing installation and the bar blow is at about 2/3.
My problem now is this is now since 3 hours and nothing is happening the littel dots next to the "completing installation" are still occuring and disappearing.

2. Since number one took so long I decided to install windows XP professional but when it is loading everything after I put the cd an bluscreen occures saying chkdsk.

What should I do now to get something on it that works?

Answer:Satellite A300-1QD - two issues while installing windows XP or Vista

Hello. I think that the partition table and boot loader are messed and that is your problem. You can try to chek for errors and format your HDD with a third parity tool and try to install windows again.

Hi there this is my first post would like to say hi. I have 7 installed on my desktop and Im loving it so far. I wish it were the same for my laptop though..

Its a Toshiba A300 (model PSAG4C-05U01C) it came pre-loaded with vista 64 and did not come with any driver/or refresh cd whatsoever.

I would like to do a clean install of 7, but im not sure if I'll have driver issues with this hardware. I cant seem to find anything specifically for 7, can someone point me to the right direction pls?

Also theres seems to be the odd time ill run into the odd app that only runs on 32bit. Would you guys recommend using a 32bit version? or is it better to stick with 64 w/ this laptop?

thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A300

A quick look at your system specs: I would say it should run Windows 7 just fine. I would go with 64bit that is the wave of the future. Many 32bit older applications will run on Windows 7 x64, however there are some that just don't work.

That depends on the cost and also on how you wish to use the laptop. The RAM seems ok, I think the most that a 32bit system will recognise is about 3.25gb or RAM.

Answer:Re install wxp on a toshiba satellite pro a300-1dz

Installing XP on a SATA drive requires an additional step:

http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how...ws_xp_on_a.htm

However, Most newer BIOS allow an Alternate method for SATA . . Go into the bios and check the "Sata Operation" setting,

change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA if it is not already. Now try to install XP ( could be IDE Mode, Compatibility Mode or Legacy Mode - different BIOS use different terms )

some will say IDE instead of ATA)

If there are no such settings you'll need to slipstream the sata drivers on the XP CD, follow the instructions in this guide :

http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slip...rs-into-xp-cd/

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5 - Questions about the Toshiba Utilities

Hi

I will try to offer some answers. Hopefully it will help you. ;)

1. No. as far as I know this is not possible but if you don't need this application just go to exit and stop it running in the background. You can start it again anytime you want.
2. You can disable this notification in RUN > MSCONFIG > Startup tab. I don't know how the right name is but you will find it there. Just remove check mark in front of it and this will never start again.
3. New notebook models are delivered without recovery DVD and you must make it alone. Toshiba has created small ?reminder? and this reminder should tell you ? Please don't forget to create this recovery DVD. So please do is using "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". This installations media you can use for further Vista installation. I recommend you to use DVD-R media only. TRORDCLauncher is Recovery Disc Creator Launcher . When the recovery DVD is created you can remove both applications from the system.
4. Yes you can remove them from the system. How? Control panel > Programs and Features > there is the list of all preinstalled software. Click on application you want to remove and click on the menu on option ?Uninstall?.

You can download some third part applications like ?Speed Fan?. Please note that thisr part applications are not tested and all info you see there must not be 100% right.

Please don't download driver updates using Microsoft update option.

Hiya,

I am trying to look to extend the 1 year warranty and there is an offer on at the moment to extend the Toshiba 1 year warranty on a variety of models but the A300-16c isnt listed and doesnt even exist on this website.

Can anyone help?

Hi ..

my friend has this laptop: Satellite A300-20P.

I'm not sure what he did, but he installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, then 32-bit again. The whole thing messed up.
Anyway, he didnt make a recovery disk for his laptop (damn thing). Now, becasue I have a Toshiba laptop too I know that there is Recovery on the Harddisk on the D partition (not the windows partition). I tried to use "Repair Windows" booting Windows, when I try to restore the whole PC from a backup media it says " No backup media found", now I'm not sure if the recovery sector still available or not, because the Windows cant boot. So is there away to find the recovery media?

If this mission impossible, then I have Windows Vista Ultimate to install and I can download the drivers from the site? The problem is, how I will make recovery media when install the Windows and the drivers ?

Please this is urgent.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite A300-20P - How to restore from Toshiba recovery?

Hi

To be honest I?m confused at the moment because first you wrote about a problem of your friend?s notebook and you wrote something about your own notebook where you try repair Windows.
So I don?t understand what you mean exactly.

But fact is you have two possibilities to restore factory settings:
1)Use the Toshiba HDD recovery option. You can start it if you go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?Repair my computer?. Then follow the screen instructions.
The first partition of the HDD will be wiped and you get factory settings back.
2)Use the Toshiba recovery disk. It?s very similar to HDD recovery option but whole HDD will be wiped (all files will be deleted). After this you have factory settings back, too.

So that?s all what you can do to restore the factory settings. If the HDD recovery option not work and you don?t have a recovery disk you have to order a new one from Toshiba directly.

Alternative you can use a Microsoft disk to install Windows and then download and install all drivers and tools from Toshiba website step by step.

Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW with BIOS 3.5 version. Can I make upgrade it to 1.7 version which i will download from Toshiba site?
Whay i want to do this?
Because I have a lot of problems with this notebook. For example:

1) Slow system loading on Compatibility mode
2) When I will set AHCI mode and install SATA drivers then loading is faster but I have problems with Critical Error

I don't know what to do :/ Maybe I have bad drivers (it is not possible because all drivers are from Toshiba site) or maybe I didn't install some drivers (there are a lot of drivers on Toshiba site, I didn't download and install all of them)

Can someone write the list of drivers which i need to install?

Thanks in advane and have a nice day.

Yours,
Tralla

Answer:BIOS Upgrade on Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW

Hello Tralla

As I can see you have already posted one thread with the same question and I am wondering you ask the same again.

You have these ?problems? because you didn?t install WXP properly. If you want to have well preinstalled WXP and use it with full speed use AHCI settings in BIOS and load WXP with all SATA drivers.
After doing this notebook will run fast, you will not have problems and BIOS update must not be done at all.
This theme is discussed very often on this forum and please take a little bit time and check this forum about WXP installation using SATA driver.

I have an A300-1MO.
Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk \?
Or is there like a specific one for my A300-1MO?

I'm like a total noob....
Somebody pls help...!

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1MO - Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk?

No, you cannot use any Recovery disk? you have to use the recovery disk designed for this notebook model.
The point is that recovery disk contains a image. Image is a package which contains OS and Toshiba drivers?
If you would use another recovery disk then the image would be installed with not compatible drivers and this could lead to further problems?

Every new Toshiba notebook provides a Toshiba Recovery Disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk?

Hey guys,
I've searched the forums a little to find a solution to my problem.
Having not found anything that seems to be the fix, i'm here - with my first post.

I've been looking at a friends Toshiba Satellite A300, that wont power on.
It was working fine until he purchased a new charger - a universal one.
He took the model number into the shop and was told this charger would do the job.
He told me the tip was hard to get into the charger port, he had to use force.

Since then, it hasn't powered on. He told me the charge lights were coming on, but nothing else.

I have the same model laptop as him, so we tried with my charger, my battery, still nothing.

I've taken the laptop completely apart. Re-seated everything. Still nothing.

What i noticed was that with the battery in, and my charger, when i left it charging for a while and tried to power on, it waited maybe a minute then the fan and power on lights came on for maybe 5 seconds then it died again.

Another thing i've noticed is that when it's charging with the battery in, the quick play lights near the power button work. I can press them without the laptop being on and they turn on/off except the media light, it stays on if turned on.

The only thing i have yet to try is replacing the CMOS battery.

I was wondering if anyone here has any idea what may be the problem here? It seems very odd for this to just start happening. The laptop hasn't been taken apart ... Read more

Reformatted hard drive and loaded xp from usb stick as dvd drive would not read windows cd. How do I load drivers as dvd drive still wont read cd and cant connect to internet to download drivers?

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satellite A300 has no drivers

If you can find the driver for the ethernet controller, and can then get online, the other drivers will be easier to deal with. Toshiba's website is notorious for its uselessness in driver downloads so it's easier to go to the ethernet adapter's Properties in Device Manager and click the Details tab. You should be looking at the Hardware ID which will have four characters showing after VEN for Vendor and another four after DEV for device.

Note those down and go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and input the DEV code into the second of the two input boxes then hit Enter. The VEN code you have will appear in column three so you'll then know who made it and have a link to their site where you can download the right driver.

My laptop has developed a strange power fault, it will charge the battery while it is off but when you turn it on it seems to run off the battery then power down when the battery goes flat. All the time this is happening the AC power light is on which suggests the power is connected and all is well, the battery light shows it is fully charged until power on when it changes from white to amber.
I am going to buy a new battery as mine is not lasting very long and I need the laptop for work and can't afford to replace it right now. Any suggestions as to why the battery is getting charge but not the laptop itself.
Cheers.
Barry.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A300 power fault.

There could be a number of reasons. A loose connection, power adapter fault etc.
Try removing the battery from the laptop and see what happens when the mains power supply are then turned back on.
You could also have a look at this link for Toshiba information http://www.ehow.com/about5912125toshiba-laptop-battery-problems.html
Doing a simple internet search, there appears to be a number of Toshiba laptop charging problems mentioned, with some possible solutions.

Hello everybody!

I need the help in organizing of my startup list:

Toshiba Button Support (why do I need this program if my laptop doesn't has multimedia keys? OR maybe this program for something else?)
ItSecMng (although I disabled Bluetooth Manager from running during startup this item still remains in the startup)
Conexant High Definition Audio Filter Agent (What is this program for? Do I really need it in startup?)
Toshiba Power Saver
Toshiba Flash Cards
RAID Event Monitor

So, my friends. Could you give a valuable suggestion whether or not it safe to disable the above startup entries? I want to speed up my laptop to highest possible level.

Thanks very much for your time!

Regards,
Osman.

My laptop:
Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-15V (PSAJ5E) => Does NOT have any multimedia keys except the FN keys.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-15V - Question about Toshiba startup items

Those processes are quite important and don't really decrease the performance of the system.

If you want to improve the performance, installing more RAM or upgrading to an SSD Drive and using an efficient Virus Scanner will have the most impact.

hello. I have an analogical problem.

Satellite A300-1G3 purchased, setup Winxp and sensory buttons set left off to work. Today I will make attempt the version of Bios to check, but doubt that he influences on it. Really is nothing present official from Toshiba?

I am sorry for my English

Answer:Satellite A300-1G3 - Toshiba Controls buttons don't work

Hi

This is a user to user forum and I doubt you will receive an something official from Toshiba. Everything what you can get are some suggestions from a notebook user like me and you.
A300-1G3 belongs to the PSAG0E series (I hope so).

Check the Toshiba European driver page. Choose this notebook model and reinstall the Common Module

Furthermore install the Toshiba *Controls* which you could find in *PSAG8E* series!!!

Hello All, my laptop has started behaving a little bizarrely! 6 times out of 10 boot ups my laptop screen is white. If I connect my machine to a monitor then my desktop is visible and works perfectly normally? If I restart then maybe my screen comes back, maybe not. There seems to be no reason for it, totally random?? Or is it ??? Could anyone offer any insight?
Many thanks,

Hi, Since my desktop is full of stuff I can't seem to get rid of, I decided to reset my Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to factory settings/out-of-the-box state. Methods such as the '0 + power button'-method don't work on this model. I've lost my CD/DVD and I can't seem to acquire a new one (it's not for sale), plus the fact that I rather don't buy a new one. I can't find how to reset my Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to factory settings! Please help me. Yours sincerely,E. Mathijssen

Answer:How to Reset Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to Factory Settings?

Well I just checked and keeping the zero key pressed whilst pressing the power button is correct for that model.Your laptop must be turned off first of course, it won't work if the laptop is already turned on.

I have quite a weird issue that I haven't encountered before.

When the laptop is turned on, you get the Toshiba splash screen, hitting f2 gets you in to the bios, f12 gets you to the boot menu, both these menus work fine.

However, anything past this just results in a black screen, for example, if I was to choose network boot as the first boot option, or cd-rom, or hdd!

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps

1. Removed HDD/DVD and tried to network boot - nothing
2. Reset BIOS to factory defaults, checked boot items were set correctly
3. Removed ram and fitted known working ram, tried both slots
4. Removed battery and drained the static
5. Attempted recovery of the bios using floppy disk (results in same black screen when trying to boot to it)

No bios updates have been ran previous to this, all the client tried to do was connect the laptop to a projector.

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jon Roberts

Answer:Satellite A300 - No activity after Toshiba splash screen

Hi Jon Roberts,

Why you want to update the BIOS?

If nothing works after the Toshiba screen it seems to be a hardware malfunction. You should contact nearest authorized service provider to get professional help. The guys can check the notebook and repair it.
Furthermore on the Toshiba website you can find a list of all ASPs.

Good luck! :)

My question: Is there a way to use the disc to format partition C only without erasing the data on the other partition?

Answer:Toshiba recovery disc usage for Satellite A300-211

Hi

No. the recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will erase everything from the HDD and partition.
The usage of the HDD recovery procedure will format only the C and will leave the data on the data partition.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1BZ Blank screen after Toshiba logo

Windows may be corrupted. Have you tried booting from a Bootable CD? For example, try the Memtest ISO from www.memtest.org

Directly after you see the Toshiba logo, press F8 a few times to access the Windows Boot Menu, and try booting into Safe Mode.

If you can get into safe mode, run CHKDSK C: /F to check for file system errors, then reboot normally.
If that doesnt work, then go back into Safe Boot and restore the PC back to a previous state using System Restore.

I?m afraid you will not find this tool for Win XP.
It looks this feature can be used only running Win Vista OS.
If Toshiba European driver page does not provide such software for Windows XP then you will be NOT able to find it on another websites?

So I see only one solution; go back to Vista if you want to use this!

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Comput...-UEFI-BIOS-or-HDD-hard-disk-drive/ta-p/407769
If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS

I recently bought a Satellite A300-15A ; model: PSAJ4E;

The laptop has 6 Multimedia keys on the top.
As described in the manual, they are supposed to perform the following funtions (left to right): (i am numbering them for convinience to mention them afterwards)
1. Mute/ LED On/Off Button
2. CD/DVD Button
3.Play/Pause Button
4.Stop Button
5.Previous Button
6.Next Button

Can someone elaborate on all the above buttons.

The only function these peform for me are as folllows;
1st Button only switches the LED off/on but does not perform any mute operation with any application (not even Windows Media Player). Even when it performs the LED off operation; only the 6 keys and the bottom 'SATELLITE' display is off; the other LED's (DC in, Powe. Battery, Disk) are still on......what is the problem and how can i start its mute operation so that i can mute the pc with any application running.

2nd button does nothing but open windows media player. What is it supposed to do exactly?

All the other keys do nothing but work on Windows Media Player. They dont work on any other application; be it VLC or any other. How can I make them work on all the media applications......

Please do elaborate and reply with solutions.

Answer:Satellite A300-15A: How does the Toshiba Control buttons work?

3-6 buttons work well also with other applications , all you have to do is to choose an actual option in Application preferences (not notebook's !).

According to the first two buttons, i got the same problems... I found out that older version of Toshiba software had "Toshiba controls" application in Control panel used to change settings for all of these button.. but now it dissappeared ;< I am already looking for any way of changing 2nd button result :) If i found out any other than changing the registry then i'll let u know here :)

Hi guys,

please do me a favour. i am in Dubai, i bought my Toshiba laptop in Dubai. That is Satellite A300-1G5, Sr.No. 98487056Q.
The problem is: whenever i try to find my laptop in Toshiba help and support web site, it is not detecting my machine.

I have tried Auto detect, putting serial no in the box, both option, but all returns with the same result---- not available in region.

Until I detect my machine I am unable to identify the exact driver and so cannot check for updates.
It is strange that Toshiba laptop is not getting found by Toshiba website.

Can anybody help me?

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5 is not detected on Toshiba support page

It can happen that system somehow cannot identify notebook model but for drivers download it is just important to know first part of the part number.
So your notebook belongs to PSAG4E series and on Toshiba download page you can define exact notebook model and see which drivers are available.

Have you tried to choose your product manually?

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 here, running on Windows Vista, and it will not see any wireless networks. The wireless adaptor is enabled and I have checked this several times to make sure. It will connect perfectly if connected with an ethernet cable in the RJ-45 port so this has slightly confused me. I'm sure there must be a simple fix. Also there seems to be no problems with the network drivers installed (No yellow exclaimation marks or anything). Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

Wow what a long post? lol.

Try running memtest (burn it to disk and allow it to run at bootup; may need to change your BIOS settings to boot from CD/DVD rom). The error you are getting (BC Code 7f) could spell faulty or failing RAM....so give this test a try and see if you get any errors after running a few passes.

Answer:Cannot start Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator on my Satellite A300-15K

Hi

Did you change anything on your notebook?
I mean if your HDD recovery partition has been changed or the data o thin partition has been deleted?

To be honest for me it looks like the OS issue. I think it?s not a single tool issue but I think the operating system has been muddled up?

Maybe you should try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery option and after the new OS installation on the notebook you could try to create the recovery disk again.

In order to start the recovery you have to press the F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up. Then you should choose the first option called ?Repair My Computer?.
This would lead to a new window and there you could choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?.

But note; this recovery would format the whole HDD? so maybe you should backup some data before you would start this procedure.

Hello, I have this problem with Toshiba satellite A300.

I deleted many files and folders from my C and E drives. On restarting the computer, it only shows the Toshiba logo then a blank screen slightly gray on close inspection. Whenever I press the CRL + ALT + DEL keys, the computer restarts and behaves in the same manner.

I have tried using an external monitor but there is no difference. On trying to boot using a CD/DVD, same behaviour happens, it won't boot from it and screen remains blank after the Toshiba logo, I have even tried changing g the boot order but to no avail.

What could be happening?
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Re: satellite A300 screen goes blank after toshiba logo, won't boot from CD/DVD

Hi,

It looks like you removed system folders and Windows doesn't boot anymore. Have you tried to restore the factory settings from hdd image or recovery disk? Or make Windows copy installation... It's easier to reinstall it rather fixing the problem.

POWER SAVER! i'm running vista at the moment, but power saver does not exist so it seems!
I was wondering if that was indeed true, or it just does nog exist in my language!

If it does not exist, i would like to suggest it to Toshiba, to bring it back, but it was a most usefull tool, mutch better then the one that is standard on windows vista!
If anyone has a solution, i would be glad to hear from you ofcourse!

PS i tried installing the version for windows XP witch i downloaded from the Toshiba site, but it does not work on Vista ofcourse!

Answer:Toshiba Power Saver on Satellite A300-PSAGCE with Vista OS

Hello

Power saver is installed under Vista too and you can find it under:
Start ? Control Panel ? System & Maintenance ? Power Options > ?Select a Power Plan? ? Change plan settings ? Change advanced power settings ? Toshiba Power Saver Settings V.xxx

As you can see the settings are not like before under WXP. The fact is that most of settings are now controlled by Vista and Toshiba power saver has no much influence in power settings like before.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1EB: Toshiba Control buttons & FN keys don't work on Win XP

Hi

The Satellite A300-1EB belongs to the PSAG0E series.
So please choose firstly the right notebook series before you will start to download the XP drivers.

After choosing the right notebook model you will have to reinstall the XP drivers.

The Common Module and Hotkey Utility are necessary to get the FN keys working.
The Common Modules must be installed at first.

To get the Multimedia buttons working you will have to install the ?Controls? .
I didn?t find it in the PSAG0E series but in other A300 series like PSAGCE. So check it out!

Bye

By the way: SP3 can causes some compatibility issues... so maybe you should remove it firstly!

Hello everybody,

I have purchased a pre-order of Windows 7 Professional for my laptop and would like to upgrade it from Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it at the moment.

However, I just have one question :

- Do you think I will be able to upgrade from Windows Vista Home to Windows 7 Professional without a full install ?
- Else, if I have to perform a full install, then is it possible to install the Toshiba tools and utilities from the CD (I have not found anything to do this) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Fred

Answer:Satellite P100-488 - Installing Toshiba tools and utilities on Windows 7

Hi Fred

As I can see you have two questions. ;)

At first I must say that I don't believe anybody here will be able to offer exact answers but here is my opinion:

Q1 ? for OS installation I prefer full installation but I think you will be able to make Win7 upgrade. Problem is how the Toshiba tools and utilities will work after this upgrade. As far as I know in the past Toshiba has suggested removing some tools and utilities before upgrade installation starts.
So maybe you should think about full OS installation. I think it is better solution for you.

Q2 ? I the whole story I see one problem ? what if Toshiba will not offer Win7 support for your notebook model? Then you will have problem and just try to use Vista stuff in hope it will works with Win7 too. Anyway, in this forum you can find many postings where people confirm that most of Vista stuff runs well with Win7.

Good luck Fred.

Answer:Satellite A300: Does TRDC Reminder & Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator work after Win 7 upgrade?

Hello Igor

In my opinion you should create recovery disc before you upgrade it to Win7. I have done the same.
Later if something goes wrong you can use your discs and install Vista again using created recovery discs.

I don't understand why you want to wait and create these discs after upgrade. This recovery disc creator doesn?t create recovery image of current state but always the same recovery image you got with your notebook.

Tempro should work in Win7 too.

I've downgraded my notebook, A300- PSAJ4E, from Vista to Xp. The following problem did occured:

A couple drivers are installed and a couple of them didn't. The following are not installed:

- Audio Device on High Definition Bus (2 times) - (Sound Driver)
- Controller voor massstorage - (Storage Manager)
- Ethernet- controller - (Pro network connection software)
- Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus - (Modem driver
- Netwerkcontroller - (Pro network connection software)
- Unknown device
- Sm- buscontroller - (?)
- Videocontroller (VGA- compatible) - (?)

I know that I can find all the drivers on the site, so I did download them all. Now I wanted for example to install the Sound Driver, and it couldn't be installed because the program couldn't find the driver.

- Does anybody know what the problem could be?
- Wich software do I have to install for the drivers (I did put wich software I tought I have to install behind the drivers)
- How can I find out what driver the unknown device is in order to find the right software en install it?

Chipset utility
Storage manager
Graphic driver
Sound driver
Modem driver
LAN driver
WLAN driver
Card reader controller
Webcam driver
Touchpad driver
And so on?..

Continue to install Toshiba tools and utilities.

Right now I've been scratching my head when installing the webcam drivers. When the install is done and after a reset, all it says is Webcam failed to initialize, please restart cam or computer.

Restarting the laptop wont do anything

I am using a Toshiba Satellite pro A300 PSAGDA-01C00R, do these drivers simply not work for the time being on 7?

any help would be great, thanks!

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA: Problems installing webcam on Win 7

Last week I received my Toshiba Satellite A300-14R it al seemed to work, but when installing or using a heavy application, the laptop just frozed and I had to reset the computer. This happened a lot, so then saterday night I installed Winrar or something while I was listening music and it happened again, but I couldnt ever reset the laptop so I pulled the battery out and the laptop couldn't start up again. So I decided to send it back to the reseller, he gave me a new one.

So, today I received the new notebook, started to install things and the screen forzed again. I made a snapshot with my phone to show what actually happens with the screen.

http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=22102008132pn7.jpg

What should I do? I updated everything in Vista.

Answer:New Satellite A300-14R frizzes when installing or using a heavy application

Sorry buddy but you are real ?notebook destroyer?. ;)
Of course it is just a joke!!!

Wait a moment. Is such screen shown from the first second when you start your notebook?
What happen if you install Vista again using F8 and repair my computer in advanced boot settings?
The same again?

Anyway, bring it back and ask for exchange. This is definitely not normal behavior.

Ever since installing Kaspersky internet securtiy, my webcam won't work, message pops up on starting windows saying it needs to be re-installed. How do I do this?

Also any idea if sims 3 is likely to run well on this laptop?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A300-1J1 - After installing Kaspersky the camera is not working

Hi!

Reinstalling the webcam driver should be pretty easy. You must only download the ?webcam driver? on the Toshiba driver download page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

If you have downloaded the new version you can remove the old version in Add/Remove Programs, restart the notebook and then install the new version.

Regarding SIMS3 you should check the system requirements of the game first. This is a pretty new game and the Satellite A300 is not the best gaming notebook so I think the notebook is not fast enough for this game.

Hi,

I brought home my friends Satellite A300 this evening to upgrade Vista to Windows 7.

The Windows 7 disc told me before it could upgrade the Vista would need a service pack 1, so I started to install the service pack and when it went to restart mode then it went to step 2 of the restart and all of a sudden the screen went black and a load of numbers appeared and it did not go any further, the system frozed.

Problem now is that Windows will not start up and it wont work in safe mode and I am afraid that all my friends photo's and files are now gone.

I am gutted!

Can anybody help?

Answer:Satellite A300 - After installing Vista SP1 it doesn't boot anymore

Hello

What happens now if you try to boot Windows? Do you get an error message or something else?

Normally before you install something like a Service Pack or Windows 7 you should backup all files first and this should be done from time to time? Normally ;)
I think you can only recover the data if you put the HDD in an external HDD case. Then you can save the data on another computer.

After this you can make a clean installation of Windows 7 or alternative install Vista using Toshiba recovery disk and then Windows 7.

Hello and good day,

I've installed win7 ultimate a few days ago and windows managed to recognize most of my hardware accept my build in mic and camera and another component I am not sure about what it is (Windows update automatically downloaded the sound and graphics driver for me).

My questions are - where can find the remaining drivers and where can I get the preinstalled Toshiba tools and software? (The driver site in the Toshiba support page does not include those drivers and software)

Thank you very much

Answer:Satellite A300 (PSAG8E) - Hardware problems after installing win7 ultimate

Hi

I have Satellite A300 (PSAG8E) too and installed Win7 Home premium and everything works perfect.

At first I must say that I don't know where you have searched drivers and Toshiba tools and utilities because all stuff is downloadable on Toshiba support & download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

It is logic that mic will not work if you didn't installed proper driver. Install drivers alone and not using Microsoft update. What you need are real and tested drivers and not some ?free drivers? from internet.

Go to Toshiba download page and install all stuff following this installations order:
-Win7
-chipset driver
-storage manager
-display driver
-sound driver
-modem driver
-supervisor utility
-infrared
-patches
-configfree
-VAP
-toshiba hardware setup
-HDMI control
-WLAN driver

Everything works well but missing some drivers

Added Vista stuff:
-Toshiba assist - work properly
-Card reader - installed properly
-Webcam driver for A500 - tested with Skype - work properly.
-Synaptics driver

Last week my Compaq laptop started to give me problems so I purchased a new Toshiba A205-S5855. I'm in the Integration field and the software I use runs on Windows XP Pro only.
Needless to say the new machine came with Vista Home Premimum well when I went to install XP I get the message "Setup did not find hard ......."
After searching the internet I find that I have the SATA hard drive. So I download the drivers from Toshiba website dust off my USB floppy and restart the installation.
I press F6 to install other controller
When prompted I select "S"
The program searches my floppy and gives me my choices
In my case "ICH8M SATA AHCI CONTROLLER" I press enter
Then I'm promted once again to Press"S" or "Enter" I use the"S" use file from floppy
Then I'm promted to Press Enter to Continue.
The Windows XP CD runs as it loads other items in memory
It access the floppy during this time then all ends with the
Blue Screen saying "Windows has stopped to protect your computer from
damage."
I downloaded "driver_ahci_install_27415A" from the toshiba website the computer bios is 2.2
If there's some other software I need or anyone can guide me through this installtion I'd really need the help.

Hi all,

Is Satellite Pro A300-1NT (or Satellite Pro A300-1GT) eligible for adding a second hard drive?

Thanks,

Peter

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1NT (Satellite Pro A300-1GT) -- second hard drive

Hmm?. As far as I know you cannot use an second HDD in this notebook.
There could be an second HDD bay but this would not mean that an usage of second HDD would be possible.

What you have to know is that A300 series has been equipped with different motherboards and not all mobos provides an second HDD controller.
If you want you could remove the cover secured the second HDD bay and could check if connectors are available.

If not then you cannot connect and use the second HDD.

Hello,

this has been frustrating me since the day I updated to Windows 7. I got all the latest drivers for my computer and installed them all, but the track pad driver just wont install. I even left it running over night. I got it from several different locations off of google as well as from Toshiba's site.

I can use my tack pad but I can not scroll or set the shortcut keys at the corners. This isn't too urgent because I generally use a mouse, but its nice to have it for when I don't have one or am too lazy to connect one, or I simply can't use one due to space limitations (I use this mostly as school and next year I will also have a Wacom tablet which makes the use of a mouse on the tiny desk a little more complicated then in the past)

Hello everyone,

I have a Toshiba P500-01G (http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/p500/pspgsa-01g003/overview) currently running the bundled Windows 7 Home Premium in 64-bit. I bought an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate but can't use it, it just tells me to use Windows Anytime Upgrade.

I can however use it for a clean installation, and I intend to, but I'm not sure what to do about the Toshiba software (http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p500/pspgsa-01g003/download?os=25).
I read on another thread that the software needs to be installed in a certain order and frankly I have no idea! I don't want to break something! I'm not asking for an exact listing for all of them (unless you have the time) but just a general guide as to what types I should install in order.

Also, I assume my recovery partition will be erased in the process and that I cannot get it back. Is this true?

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it,
Abraham.

Answer:Satellite P500-01G - Installing Toshiba software after clean install

Hello Abraham

I?m owner of Satellite P500 too and it is really great machine, isn?t it? I love it. My best Toshiba ever.
On my machine is preinstalled original Toshiba recovery image and it works without any problems so I don?t want to change anything.

Back to your question. I presume you have some reasons why do you want to use Ultimate version so you should try to make clean OS installation. Before you do anything create recovery DVD. Make two copies.
After doing this you can do with your notebook whatever you wont because if you want to have ?factory settings? again you can use created recovery disc and install original recovery image.
After own OS installation saved recovery image will be useless and you will not be able to start HDD recovery installation so please create recovery DVDs.

Thank you very much for your interesting report.
Old Satellite A300 was originally delivered with Vista and was supported for Win7 32bit. Note even for Win8 so I don't think that Toshiba will do anything to offer adapted drivers for Win10.

All you can try is to use drivers, tools and utilities designed for newer models and hope everything wil work properly.

I’m 100& sure that old A300 wil not be supported for Win10.

I have Satellite A300 and have dual boot with WXP and Win7 so I can say that Satellite A300 runs perfect with Win7, much better then with Vista.

What you can do is:
# To upgrade preinstalled Vista to Win7 (both 32bit) or
# Install Win7 using Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities must be installed additionally one by one. All of them you can find and download from Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads.

Answer:How can I install windows XP on my Satellite A300-129

First of all, have you created some extra recovery discs yet? If not do so, because they are vital if something goes wrong and you want to revert back to Windows Vista.

To install XP on your machine you will need to download all needed XP drivers which can be found here:

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & Downloads)

Save them to an external device like an USB memory stick or put them on disc.

Next thing is, to integrate the needed SATA drivers into your Windows installation disc. Two options for this, one to put them on floppy disk by using USB floppy disk drive or to integrate them directly to the installation disc by using a tool called nlite.

For both methods use forum search function, as you will find enough threads with good instructions.

Answer:Satellite A300 - How to install Windows XP?

Hi

Did you integrate the SATA drivers?
On all notebooks with SATA HDD you need the SATA drivers to recognize the HDD or you change the AHCI mode in BIOS to compatible but the AHCI mode is faster?

Therefore you need the right SATA driver that you can find on the Toshiba website. It?s called ?Intel Storage Manager?

Answer:Satellite A300 - How to install Windows XP

Hi!

In your case I would visit the Toshiba driver download page. Search for the Satellite A300 and Windows XP then you will find all drivers that you need.
So it is no problem to install Windows XP because you can get all drivers from Toshiba.

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

But don?t forget, Windows XP will not recognize the full 4GB RAM. I think that must be 3,2GB because it is a 32bit OS.

Just one question;
Did you go through this forum and single threads regarding this theme before you have posted this new topic?

There are a lot of threads about Win XP installation on notebooks with SATA controller!!!
The procedure is always the same on most notebook models!!!

You?ve got 2 possibilities; wither you would set the SATA mode to compatible in BIOS and would not need to install the SATA drivers or you would leave the SATA mode as AHCI and would include the SATA drivers using an external FDD drive or you would built an new Win XP disk using the nLite software.

PS: SATA drivers are a part of Intel Storage Manger!!!

Go into the BIOS and enable SATA compatibility/IDE mode. Hopefully that will get XP working. If it doesnt, you need an F6 SATA driver. Search the forum for "SATA" for instructions.

XP would be 32bit. The 64bit version has bad driver support and shouldn't be used.

Hello Joe

I also prefer clean OS installation more than update/upgrade installation.
In the whole story I see one problem only. Don?t install Win7 until Toshiba starts Win7 support on Toshiba?s support page. Be sure all Win7 drivers are available and ready for download.
Have you already checked Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com ?

I presume you got your notebook preinstalled with Vista and without recovery DVD. That means, before you do anything create Vista recovery DVD using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". This DVD can be used if you one day want to install Vista and have ?factory settings? again.

Hello!

It is running Windows Vista that came preinstalled.
Can I upgrade it to Windows 8?
Thanks for advice.

Answer:Satellite A300-1MM - Can I upgrade to Windows 8?

Generally speaking your old A300 is not supported for Wn8. It is supported for Win7 only. Not even A500 is supported for Win8 upgrade.
I have it too but running with Win7 32bit and I?m very happy with it.

As far as I know Vista to Win8 upgrade is not supported so what you can try is to install Win7 and install upgrade for Win8. With drivers and especially with Toshiba specific tools and utilities can be a bit problematic but you can try to use stuff offered for newer notebook model.

Unfortunately on this forum we don't have much information about such upgrade.
If you will try to install Win8 please post some feedback.
