I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have tried reinstalling the driver,(but every time it automatically installs after rebooting-could that be the problem?), still no luck. In the SRS Premium Sound panel, I can click on speaker and headphones, but I cannot select built-in speakers.could it be a hardware malfunction? loose connection?Pleasehelp - thankyou

Just a few days ago, the speakers (and subwoofer) of my lenovo y50 suddenly stopped working. I've already tried some fixes, including input options in the realtek audio manager. Sound coming trough the headphone jack still works though, but since the speaker malfunction it has an irritating white noise. Anyone who also has this problem or knows the fix?

Check in device manager whether there's any issue with your sound drivers - is there any exclamation mark?

Hi, I am using Lenovo G460 since 2 years and I am unable to hear from internal speakers, but I connected headphones or external speakers it's working fine. anybody can tell the problem

Answer:my lenovo g460 internal speakers are not working

hi arjunkanda,

Can you try Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Audio Driver,

Open Device Manager and look under sound and gaming controller for WIN7 and Audio input for WIN8/8.1
Look for something says Conexant, and uninstall it.
Place a check if you're prompted of "Delete driver software for this device"

Then install a audio driver from this download link of your system and install it.
      http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT072732

See if that works,
If not then, Im thinking a connection problem of the Speakers,

You can check your system's  Maintenance Manual to check on how to get access to the speaker cables connecting to the Mainboard on page (52).

Hope this helps
Cheers!

For several last days, I have a strange behavior of speakers and microphone in my t470p. For most of the time they are unavailable in both Linux or Windows OS. However, where I'm doing little push on screen backward (like adjusting screen little bit), both microphone and speaker start working and become available. After I stop adjusting screen (making push backward) device become unavailable again. I'm sure that it is some kind of hardware problem and it should be easy fixing (like some connector is not attached properly inside LCD panel), but according to maintenance manual, I do not see any wires related to speakers or sound card going inside LCD panel. Can anybody advise how to fix such behavior?

Hi!Lenovo TP T500, Win7Pro 32. There was a problem with the integrated speakers. Yesterday worked fine. Then, after a conversation on Skype through a wired headset from the integrated speakers sound stopped going. Through headphones the sound is fine. All tests are integrated speakers through the control panel are normal, no errors shown. But the sound of them is not. That is, I have created the absolute impression that the laptop "thinks" as if the headset is still activated. What will advise?

Answer:Lenovo TP T500, Win7Pro 32. Speakers stopped working

Make sure if you haven't done so already to press and hold (for a few seconds) the volume UP button on the top row of the keyboard.  It's usually pretty close to the blue ThinkVantage butoon.

Hi I have a Lenovo W500 4062-5YG... O/S: Win 7 Pro My sound device is a Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD. The problem is, that the internal speakers have stopped working all of a sudden... I think it is a hardware problem since when I hookup external speakers or headphones they produce sound... but I am no expert! I have done the following to try and fix it: Disable, then enable audio driversUinstall, then install audio driversSetting the internal speakers as the default speaker sourceRestoring the system to an earlier day (where I knew that the speakers had functioned)None of these actions have worked. I actually thought I could perform a hardware test on the speakers in the "Lenovo Solution Center"... but it doesn't seem like it:-( So... How can I know for sure whether it is a hardware or software problem? And more importantly - How can I get my internal speakers to work? Any help is appreciated. CheersPhilip

Answer:Internal speakers have stopped working (Lenovo W500 with Win 7 Pro)

Hello Philip,

As mentioned in your post, you have performed all the major troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. I suggest you to update your BIOS also in order to resolve your issue. You can download and update the BIOS update utility from the below mentioned web link.
http://support.lenovo.com/en_SG/downloads/default.page?

Kindly click on Quick path and put your 7 Digit TYPE-Model number(40625YG) in the box and then click on the Find My Product. Please click on BIOS and then download the BIOS update utility according to your Operating System. It might resolve your issue. If it will also not work then it seem to be an issue with hardware. Kindly get in touch with the support centre they will assist you and try to resolve the issue.

Hi, hope I'm posting in the right place.

I had a set of GE 2.1 speakers working well with my Sony Vaio for about a year. Recently the sound started to go in & out, I had to move the wire around a lot and tape it or hold it in a certain spot to get them to work. Then one day they stopped working altogether. Assuming it was the speakers, I went and bought a new set from Best Buy. Took them home, plugged them in... and nothing, nothing at all. So I tried the OLD speakers in another desktop computer, and they worked perfectly.

So I assumed my headphone jack was broken and was going to go about trying to get a new piece and solder it and all that, but then I'm sitting here and just realized my headphones work perfectly.

What's wrong? How come the headphones work, but 2 pairs of external speakers don't?

Thanks so much

Jillian

Hi jc,

Welcome to the Forum.

Never seen one of these before, Try right clicking on the speaker symbol in the notification area, select Playback Devices, You should be able to select the speaker device that you want to use.
Right click enable/disable Hide/unhide
Left Click will allow you to configure the device after selecting Configure
Properties will also give you some options

I just bought a new Logitech Z-560 set, which comes with 4 satellite speakers and a subwoofer. After connecting everything, the two rear speakers are only making a kind of hissing noise, while playing NO sounds at all. The front two speakers are playing music, which sounds bit distorted, but the subwoofer is giving off this loud annoying sound. It sounds like this deep bass sound that just won't go away, it's a constant deep bass sound. I connected the speakers to my sound card, which I believe is only 2-channel. Does 2-channel mean that I can only get 2 speakers to work, not 4? Any ideas why the woofer is making this annoying sound? I turned down the bass but it doesn't help. The front 2 speakers don't even play sounds clearly either.

My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop speakers are not working, but 3.5 mm jack is working fine.
Please help me out.

Answer:My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop speakers are not working, but 3.5 mm jack is working fine.

Hello. The problem could be either in the hardware or the software, so you need to test each. Perform the tests below -- it doesn't matter which one you do first.

To test the speakers, perform the Quick Audio Check in the ePSA test. If the speakers fail the test then they have failed or become disconnected. (Click the link for instructions on how to run the test.)

To test the software, switch between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native driver. [This test assumes that your laptop has the Realtek audio driver. If you get to step 2 and do not see "Realtek High Definition Audio" then go to the Dell support page for your model and download the Realtek driver that Dell provides for the version of Windows that the laptop is running.]
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted,... Read more

im running an 8 month old toshiba with vista and realtek audio with updated drivers. surround sound speakers bought in iraq were used on audio output for about a week... then the speakers started acting funny, like with one speaker and one headphone working when headphones were plugged in. then the internal speakers squealed loudly whenever the computer was powered. had to take the speakers out just to get them to stop, and now audio output does not work at all. computer tests both devices as working properly, and drivers are updated.

New T530Speakers and Headphones were working fine. I have installed some codecs for VLC (don't think this would affect things) The speakers stopped working, but if you press your ear to the machine, you can hear some tiny clicks / pops when you try to play audio/video (itunes, VLC etc.) Checked Drivers, Sound Mixer, etc. All say the sound is on full.Volume Control Options show Speaker/HP 'realtek High Definition Audio' I tried updating the Sound Drivers. I rolled back the drivers, I unistalled the drivers.Downloaded the drivers from Lenovo, tried Microsoft. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Answer:T530 Speakers have stopped working, headphones still working, tiny small popping / clicking

Not really sure about this, but it sounds like the audio port's mechanical shunt is stuck or broken off.  That is an age old way of turning off speakers when a headphone or external speaker jack is inserted.  The jack pushes a small metal shunt over that opens the internal speakers' circuit.  When the jack is withdrawn, that small shunt is supposed to return to the original position that lets internal speakers function again. If that shunt is stuck or broken, the internal speakers could remain blocked after an external jack is removed. This is not a new problem, but it is not a common problem. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/No-sound-from-internal-speakers-only-from-h...

Answer:X201 problems after BIOS upgrade (keyboard light not working, laptop speakers not working)

Hello Infro!

Welcome to the Support Forums. I can imagine your frustration. I looked at the Driver Matrix for your X201 and it looks like there have been some other updates released recently. I am not sure of your operating system, so you may need to verify they are correct, but all are listed above in the driver matrix.

Check to see if you have the current version of these drivers:

Hotkey Features Integration
Lenovo Power Management for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit)
Also check for Power Manager Patches
Solid State Drive firmware update utility

Let me know if you have any questions and if everything is updated.

Welcome to Lenovo forums

As I understood that you are facing the issue with the speakers.

As you have mentioned the sub-woofer is working I would suggest you update the chipset driver and also the audio driver this might resolve the issue.

Hi,

I have a dual boot of Fedora and Windows, and when I boot into Fedora, my headphones work fine. When I boot into Windows 7 64bit, my headphones don't work. My laptop speakers work fine however, and I tried re-installing drivers. I made sure that my headphones are the default playback device, and I only have one headphone jack.

Other people who had this issue solved it by replacing their audio jack, but for me that is not a problem because the audio jack works fine when I boot into Fedora.

Please help!

Janac

Answer:Laptop speakers working, but headphone jack not working only on Window

Normally, the "Speakers" (PC sound) is set as the Default Playback device and not Headphones. In fact, newer RealTek sound systems do not even show the Headphones when plugged in.

Are you using the correct sound drivers? Not the generic Windows installed High Definition Audio Codec.

What all is listed in the Device Manager, Sound section?

My laptop's speakers aren't working at all, and when my headphones are plugged in only the right side works. The only way I can hear out of both sides of them is if I pull the jack halfway out, like you would with faulty headphones. But there's nothing wrong with the headphones and I've tried various different ones. The speakers themselves aren't working at all despite the settings telling me they are. And yes, I've tried turning it on and off and looking for updates but nothing seems to be working.
Please help!

Hi, I recently bought a Lenovo Y40 and I'm experiencing some issues with the right speaker. It seems like it is probably a hardware malfunction of some kind or something. Sometimes, the speakers stop working and this strange noise comes out of the right speaker. If I mute the computer or even if I plug in my headset, the right speaker continues to produce that strange noise that goes on and on. Do I have to send it back to factory or is there something I can do about it? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Y40 speakers problem

UPDATE: I tried to disable the speakers device and the noise continued. After I disabled both input and output devices (I also tried to disable only the input device, but the noise continued) I was finally able to stop the noise. Then I tried to connect my headset and the noise appeared once again. So does it seem like a driver or hardware problem? Thanks again in advance.

Hello again. My computer ran pretty smoothly after i had restored it to factory settings after sleep mode fiasco. Last Friday however i faced another problem, my computer's audio on just about anything started crackling horribly, other than in my headphones, after restarting it, there is occassional crackling in audio, i have tried changing audio settings and installing latest updates for both Realtek and computer, but crackling is continuing. Sometimes it also appears in form of brief mutes. I have tried with no headphones and with other models but there is really something wrong with it and it's pretty hard to just ignore, what's the problem? I know this isn't caused by RAM overload or anything like that, i feel like the soundcard is corrupted in some way.

Ok so i would describe myself as an intermediate/advanced PC user, but this has baffled me. My speakers suddenly stopped working so i did the normal reinstalling of the drivers however this did nothing. I tried this many times, uninstalling the windows audio drivers. Nothing worked. Because of all my messing with the system to try and get the speakers to work, i decided to reinstall windows hoping this would fix the issue. On the newly installed version of windows i had no sound from the Microsoft drivers or from installing the Realtek drivers. Currently i have noticed that the drivers do not seem to be correctly installing. After installing the Realtek drivers the installation all works perfectly, restarting the computer and then finishing the installation etc. But after i check in device manager the Microsoft drivers still seem to be installed? I have tried manually uninstalling the Microsoft drivers and then installing tthe Realtek, but the Microsoft drivers just reappear. The sound does work from the headphone jack. I initially thought it might be the hardware the speakers themselves but after noticing the drivers aren't installing correctly it may well be a software issue. Can anyone help?!?! I really don't have the £99 Microsoft wanted to help and Lenovo were completely useless, uninsterested and told me to contact Microsoft. What really sucks is the fact my Warranty with Lenovo has literally just ran out

Could you please post a screenshot how your audio drivers are showing up (in Device manager)?

Also, go to system try >> right click on volume >> Playback devices
and post a screenshot of what is selected there? Also, see if something can be configured in those settings?

You may also want to upgrade your Intel Graphics (chipset) drivers, sometimes they cause problems with audio.

Hello everyone ! I bought a Yoga 500 15 IBD a few days ago. Everything runs perfectly except the speakers. When I watch videos or listen to music, there are static noises everytime (like cracks). Has anyone encountered the same issue ? Is there a solution ? Thanks a lot F.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500 speakers issue

Hi FDE,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Is the sound ok when you plug-in an earphone or headset?

Can you try to enable loudness equalization and room correction under the Speaker Properties of the Sound Settings?

If it is, can you try to uninstall the Realtek HD Audio driver from the Control panel, reboot the PC, and then try to play the sounds using the generic sound drive. If it works ok, reinstall the sound driver below:

Windows 10 latest audio drivers
Windows 8.1 latest audio drivers

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Answer:LENOVO Y500 SPEAKERS PROBLEM

hi lxproelite,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you have already re-installed the drivers from the lenovo support site (http://support.lenovo.com), can you try to enable loudness equalization and room correction under the Speaker Properties of the the Sound Settings.
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If  this doesn't work and the sound is ok when using headphones / external speakers, there's probably a defect or a short on the right speaker or the cable that goes to that speaker - see this similar thread.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I got a new T520 about two months ago, and have been using external speakers so far. I just moved and lost the system, and as a result noticed that the speaker volume is only about half what it was on my old T500. It makes watching anything with the speakers a crapshoot, since it's often so quet it's impossible to hear anything. Are there any workarounds to increase the speaker volume? There's no way it can be working as intended when it's this quiet.

Answer:Quiet Lenovo T520 Speakers

SmartAudio in control panel will allow varios changes. You should be able to boost it in configurations there. I did a while ago. Although its not really load or quality sound due to the poor speakers used. It is better than the default settings. The speaker are in special frames and difficult to get to looking at a dissambly video. But there aren't any high quality high output options availbe. So we're stuck with these substandard speakers. They have to be the worst in any notebook out there.

Hi. My new T520 speakers are very quite (about as twice as quiet as my old Asus laptop). I tried reinstalling the Conextant drivers, but nothing changed. I looked at some settings in SmartAudio, but nothing helped either so I'm thinking that the issue might be hardware related. When I use my headphones the sound is also twice lower when used on my phone (same headphones). I wanted to know if anyone else is having the same issue and is it software or hardware related? My friend has a two year old T500 and sound on his laptop is way much louder.

Hi,3 weeks ago I ordered online at lenovo.com an x1 carbon i7 8gb 14" ( non touch).Shipped last week from china, arrived on Friday. The day after I realized that the speakers simply do not work and they have never worked since I turned it on. Only earphones plugged in the jack work. Moreover (and THAT is really worrying me) there is a regular click like a metronome coming from the area of the right speakers, and I cannot be 100% sure that is connected to the speakers problem. That click seems to be connected to the hard drive, hen an application is running it starts, and not necessarily when an audio is playing. Also in the bios that strange sound appears!Already called the assistance, they'll send me tomorrow a box to send the x1 to the assistance center.I guess this beats all the records for the shortest time from the unpacking to the assistance !!!Run several testsfrom the bios, nothing seems to be wrong.Has anyone experienced such a thing? Hello, I just bought a brand new Thinkpad E570 and there is one problem I just can't solve. I can't get the speakers to work, only headphones through the headphone out work. On top of this, when I plug in headphones, this annoying Smartaudio HD window pops up and sometimes freezes on the computer. I'd love to get rid of that, but having my speakers actually work is priority one. The laptop is using Conexant SmartAudio HD drivers and, I've tried just about everything I can think of to fix them. I've uninstalled and then manually installed the correct drivers from Lenovo, but that didn't help. At this point I'm fearing that I received a dud with bad speakers. Is there any way to deal with this speaker problem, or at least check if my speakers are functioning? I can't keep this laptop if the speakers don't work, because it is brand new with the original OS.

Answer:Lenovo E570 - No Sound from Speakers

Hi JonCharles,  You can test your audio with live Linux distribution (running from USB flash drive). I performed tests with Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and Fedora 25 Workstaton and audio is working flawlessly out of the box.

Hey!I have an issue with my Lenovo G710. My built-in speakers don't work, and when i try to open the sound manager there are no devices shown. The same goes for the audio jack - it doesn't work. Although my Logitech G430 USB Headset works. I've already tried to update the IDT High Definition Audio driver but i can't update it because it says that there are no devices plugged in or something among these lines. I am really upset about this issue and none of the tutorials work for me, so I am starting to think that this is a hardware issue with my built-in speakers. Anyway, I would appreciate any replies! Thanks!?an

Answer:Built-in speakers won't work on Lenovo G71O

Hi, K3Lbic      -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just to check, when you play an audio and the sound is set to output from the built-in speakers, is the volume fluctuating from the sound icon?

If the volume is fluctuating, try to uninstall the Audio Driver (this will make Windows use a generic audio driver), are you able to get sound from the built-in speakers?

If the sound still doesn't work using the generic audio driver then I'm afraid there's a problem with the speakers (most likely a short on the wires or from the speaker itself). In this case, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

When you have a moment, can you please refer to this bug that was filed regarding a similar issue and let me know if it is relevant to the problem you are seeing?

Update us how it goes.

My lenovo Z560 laptop is having trouble with the speaker system that is built in.  The speakers will work for a few seconds and then shut off.  The sound will only come back if I hit the mute button on and then back off again and even then the sound will only work for a few more seconds before I have to do it all over again.  The headphone jack works fine and has no problem; its just the built in speakers having an issue.  I have tried manually un-installing and re-installing the drivers for the speakers but nothing changes.

How do I take off the Lenovo startup sound (The sound when the Lenovo logo and those orange lines appear)? It's so loud! I can't bring my laptop to the library or other places because of the sound. Yesterday, I tried taking it off and I accidentally disabled my speakers. How do I reinstall that and the Realtek thing? I accidentally uninstalled all the audio output devices of my laptop so now I can't listen to anything. -_-

Answer:Speakers + Lenovo Startup Sound (Y450)

When your laptop is starting up, push F2 (I think.. it says it on the bottom.. either F2 or F12). Then look through the settings and there should be a setting that lets you change the sound settings for the start up sound. If you change it from 2 to 0, it should mute it.

I camped out for 12 hours at the Best Buy in Brighton, MI and ended up purchasing two Lenovo g575-438343u notebooks for $180 each.  One of the first things I noticed was that the black seal was broken and there was clear packaging tape over it.  A sticker on the box said "This computer has been tested and set up by Geek Squad".I booted the first notebook up and one of the first things I did was try to watch an HD YouTube video to test the video performance.  The video played fine, but I noticed no sound coming out of the left side of the laptop.  I spent a while in the Windows sound settings and the SmartAudio program found in the Control Panel.  With no success getting left audio output from the internal speakers, I plugged in a pair of headphones and left and right sound worked correctly.  I then booted up the second notebook and had the same problems.  At this point, I was almost certain it was a hardware issue, but I booted a linux LiveCD just to make sure .. still no left audio output.  Convinced this was a hardware issue, I started disassembling the laptop.  My suspicions were confirmed when I found there to be no left speaker at all!  The location of where the left speaker should be is empty.  The connection on the laptop has four pins - two for each speaker. You can view the Lenovo G575 datasheet here:http://shop.lenovo.com/us/ww/pdf/G575_Datasheet_US.pdfThe datasheet lists 2.0 Speakers (2* 1.5W)I have taken photog... Answer:Best Buy sold me two Lenovo notebooks without left speakers!

I made the 45 minute drive back to the Best Buy with both notebooks.  I was helped by a Geek Squad member, but unfortunately he was not able to do much.  After messing around with settings for a few minutes, he was convinced there was only one speaker.  At that point, he started trying to find specs for the notebook.  I told him if he performed a quick google search for "Lenovo G575 datasheet" he would see where it says it has 2.0 Speakers (2* 1.5W).  He said that he needed the specs for the specific model number, not the series.  Unfortunately, the notebook isn't listed anywhere on Lenovo's website.  He looked for about 15 minutes but could not find the specs for the g575-438343u.  I was then offered two options.1.  I could return both notebooks for a full refund, no restocking fee.  I told him I camped out and waited 12 hours to get a notebook at this price, so I would not be interested in a refund.2.  He said he could queue up the notebooks for service.  He said they would first try to find the spec sheet for that specific model to determine whether it was supposed to have 1 or 2 speakers.  I'm guessing at that point they would send it back to Lenovo.  I asked for a rough ETA on that process and he said with the holidays, 3-4 weeks would not be uncommon.  I told him if I wanted to go that route with a Lenovo warranty service, I could just do it myself. So I left the store with my single-speaker noteb... Good day to All, I've just updated my audio driver from realtek (ver.1.94). The sound system from my previous driver is now louder. (need confirmation from other updaters). Here are some small steps on how i updated the driver.1. unzip the folder Vista R1942. Run the setup.exe from the unzip folder. it will prompt you for a restart after installation.3. After restart you'll notice that in no sound coming from the speakers or the audio jack. Now go to Control Panel>System> Device manager and go to sound, video, game controller tab and double click tthe Realtek High Definition Audio.4. Go to the driver tab and click the update driver button. Two options will pop up from Vista OS. (Search Automatically and Browse my Computer) Choose browse my computer and point it to the folder where the extracted Latest Realtek Audio Driver (Vista R194) Note:(A) After extracting the zip file there are two Vista folders (One for 32bit and 64bit) just choose your OS version of Vista. 5. Windows will update it and after finishing try playing your player and put the volume on MAX. You'll notice that the 50% of previous volume was increased. Hope this helps. Regards,KennethMessage Edited by Kennseiba on 06-04-2008 11:07 PM

If so, what is a 'safe' volume to listen to music from?

Hello, When I first received my laptop the sound from the speakers was working fine. I wanted to test it right away because it was advertised as High Definition Sound and above average quality for a laptop. However, after a while, they stopped working entirely. I have gone through all the troubleshooting multiple times with drivers and installing/uninstalling, re-installing, changing around the devices. None of these solutions work.  After researching online, I have noticed that thousands of others with the Y series laptops have the same problem. I should note that the audio DOES work using an external device such as headphones or other speakers, but nothing comes out of the laptop speakers. I have found hundreds of topics and other users with the same problem looking for a solution, which I'm beginning to think that there isn't one. Considering everyone seems to receive faulty Y Series IdeaPads when it comes to the speakers, I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and has fixed it successfully. I do not want to send it into to Lenovo support as they take an inexplicably and absurdly long time to fix it and send it back (I need it to do work, i cannot be without it for so long). I also do not want to see the video link that the Lenovo staff seems to think helps, to select your speakers as your default device. This is the solution i see posted most often which is mind-numbingly pedestrian and is not the problem at hand.  Anyways, my question ... Read more

Hi I've been dealing with this issue for a while now and cannot find a forum with the same issue as me.Whenever I turn on my laptop it automatically says headphones are plugged in even if they are not and will not play sound from the speakers. I have tried reinstalling drivers and nothing has worked. Sound comes in through the headphones, but will not come through the speakers even if I unplug the headphones. Please help.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Have you tried inserting and then removing your headphone plug several times from the audio port?  From what you have described it almost sounds like a contact is stuck inside the audio port causing the computer to think the headphones are being used. Likewise the audio port maybe damaged.

If you are unable to resolve the problem I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional assistance.

Basically yesterday I replugged my headset in and all of a sudden no sound started coming through but the mic still worked, people could hear me. So I decided to see if the actual headset was broken in Hardware and Sound in the control panel but the sound bars of the headset rise accordingly to my music. It's as if my headset if working but its disabled. I'm not too sure what to do at this point.

Sounds like something has happened to the headset, based on what you report.
What type of headset is this? USB? or does it have a 3.5mm stereo plug(s)?

Can you try it on a different PC to see if it works OK or not?

The W530 speakers are the worst speakers I?ve ever seen in any laptop.  I purchased the W530, and although everything else is great, the speakers are absolutely worthless. And no, calling it a business laptop doesn't justify not installing good speakers either. A business laptop and in this case, a mobile work station simply means a powerful machine capable of doing complex tasks including multimedia. Business doesn't mean crunching numbers in excel, it means professional use. I'm not a gamer, and the last game I played was on ATARI, 25 years ago, so I don't expect mind blowing audio from a laptop. What I do expect is to be able to actually hear a **bleep** conversation on a Skype call, or watch a movie without headphones. My old Toshiba laptop with Herman Kardon speakers sounds like a boom box compared to this machine. My cell phone speakers have better clarity, depth and volume than this $3,000 machine, and I don't appreciate cheapness. If you claim to be the best, deliver the best, plain and simple.  Shame on you big time Lenovo.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Speakers are absolute garbage

Do you have the Dolby driver installed and is Dolby audio turned on? There is a noticeable difference between when Dolby is on and off, in my experience.

I have a G450 laptop for over three years. Now recently I can't hear any sound. I checked drivers. But to get sound, I have to bend the laptop screen at certain angle. So I think its problem with some loose connection? Help me troubleshoot it.

Answer:No sound from lenovo g450 internal speakers - only from headphones

Go to Lenovo website, Click on support & enter your model number in the search box, In your case G450, Download all manuals & documentation for your laptop, You should find a pdf of the specs on the G450 & others in the G series range, That will show how to teardown your laptop, Just follow the instructions until you get to the cables you wish to check. Hope that helps! Catt

Hello all. I was just hoping someone might have experienced this or had a software solution. I've reinstalled the sound drivers and run one of those lenovo comprehensive hardware checks and the troubleshooting and nothing has worked. Sound works fine when I plug in headphones. I'm just hoping it's not a hardware issue cause the nearest service center is 100+ miles from me and I'm going back to school this upcoming week.

I have just received my Lenovo Horizon 27 inch all-in-one pc and I've noticed a problem with the audio.  When I plug in my external speakers I only get audio out of the left channel.  I noticed another person with the same problem posted to the forums some time back but the Lenovo tech never got back to him with a solution so I'm really hoping I'll have better luck. The sound comes out propperly when headphones are plugged in but my speakers only output a single chanel of audio.  The speakers work fine on other PCs.  As was suggested in the other thread, I compared the headphone jack and the speaker jack and they are identical.  Same number of stripes, same length, and I believe the same girth. Here's the url for the other post I mentioned: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaCentre-Desktops-Home-Servers/Horizon-27-sound-issue/m-p/1475392/high...I also can't seem to find where the number is to call for support so if someone could help me with that I'd be very appreciative. Thanks, Charles

Hello, dear forumers, I have a problem with my Lenovo B580 laptop that they couldn't fix even at the authorized service center. I have no sound after booting up, but the sound always works if I put the computer to sleep (NOT hibernate) and then resume. This problem persists both on Windows and Ubuntu Linux (though a fresh install of Ubuntu did have sound for the first 2 - 3 bootups). It is getting very annoying and nobody seems to know how to fix this. Do you have any suggestions or ideas for me? Sure would be grateful. Imagine having to sleep and resume EVERY time you boot up...

I put my headphones in the jack today and heard a weird background noise. When I removed them, the computer speakers were making a loud buzzing noise as well.  The buzzing noise comes and goes and disappears if I mute the computer's volume.  I cannot hear any audio on my computer now (no music, videos, noise at start up/shut down, etc.). I have tried updating the sound drivers and restarting the computer several times, but to no avail.  I have also tried to get sound with and without external speakers attached, with and without headphones in, etc. and I can only occassionally get the loud buzzing noise which is coming directly from both of the speaker vents on the bottom of the computer.  Thoughts on a solution?

Hey everyone, bought my computer 2 weeks ago, quite good one, but I have a few question:(my model, lenovo y50-70 IdeaPad, http://notebookspec.com/notebook/5882-LENOVO-Y5070-59422155.html , windows 8)1. When I put my laptop to sleep mode and open it, the sound turn all "rubbish" and strange, after reset its getting okay, quite annoying... any fixes for that? (isnt top priority) 2. can you take the battery out while you are connected into a electric ? the guy in the shop told me its built-in battery and can not be taken out 3. while gaming/typing, some random keys being pressed, like control (mostly control) and alt, Ive checked in that 2 weeks, and it happend WITHOUT me being pressed it, I think its something with the mousepad... anyways, any idea how to fix? thanks!

Answer:Lenovo y50-70, speakers problem, and random keys being clicked and battery

Hello Niv200. I have the same laptop and I also found some of those problems after I start using it. First I only noticed the speaker problem after 6 months of using it, and yes, it's quite annoying. About the battery: it can't be removed, it is located in the lower half of the back of the laptop, between the center and the lower screw, so you can't remove it. I do type alot but and I must say that this keyboard is not very good at this job because most of the time when I try to hit the enter key I hit the 7 from keypad and it's quite annoying, but I must say that I never had the problem you have about keys typing whitout being pressed. If you fixed any of your problems please let me know. Thanks!

When I start up my laptop from cold, there's this ridiculously loud squealing, siren-like noise coming from the speakers that seems to slowly disappear right as I get to the log-in screen. It'll usually be gone after I've logged in. It's not a constant sound, but one that fluctuates. I know for a fact it comes from the speakers because I can shut off the sound with the mute button. So please do not ask me if it may be coming from a fan or HDD. I want to know what possible solutions I can try. I've had the laptop for a little more than a few years now and do game on it.

Answer:Lenovo y570 loud squealing noise from speakers on startup

You might have to take it to a repair technician.

If its not much bother, can you upload a video with the squealing sound?

Ok, one day my speakers are fine, and then the next day they're kaput. I know the problem is not the speakers themselves, because I have hooked them up to other things and they work fine. My computer just seems to not want to play sound through them for some reason. I have onboard Realtek HD 7.1 audio and am using logitech 5.1 speakers on Windows XP 2005 media center edition. My Motherboard is an ASUS P5W DH deluxe.

The problem started when I was recording a cassette tape to my computer through my line in port. Things were going fine, and then all of a sudden things started acting screwy. First the audio I was recording started jumping from way to low to extremely loud, then started randomly choosing which channel to record. Then I kept getting notifications saying that my speakers were being pluged in and unpluged into random jacks when I didn't even touch them. I've recorded cassettes to my computer before and nothing like that has ever happened to me before.

I quit recording and restarted my computer. I had no sound, and still kept recieving notifications. I unplugged the speaker jacks, uninstalled the audio driver, reinstalled the audio driver, and plugged the jacks back in. No more notifications, but still no sound. I went through everything common in the help file: Nothing is muted, my speakers are connected into the correct jacks, my speakers are plugged in, the sound device is turned on and enabled, and is selected as the defalut device (its the onl... I got a pair of the new Logitech interactive Z-10 speakers. Well having done the simple plug and play installation I was all set to listen to some quality sound but ....no sound and some of the interactive touch controls do not work. I have done the software install and plug ins about 10 times but still no sound. Took a look at the box specs and low and behold it says win xp and does not mention Vista. Appears that Vista does not have drivers for the new speakers. So I contacted 'Logitech help' and got a reply ' with a site to download some new software. Did that and hooked up again but still no sound. I get sound with my normal speakers but when I connect the z-10's via a USP port they do not work. The USB are in working condition because I tried other hardware. eg camera and a flash drive.

So either Vista is the culprit or there is a well hidden setting somewhere that needs to be turned on. Have spent the better part of today just looking thru sound settings but so far no go. Any ideas?

Speakers don't need drivers but your sound card does. Try reinstalling the drivers for the card and see if it helps.

I have set up the 5.1 speaker system and was all working correctly. Now only 2 of the speakers + the subwoofer seem to be working. There is no sound coming from the rest. I have swapped the speakers over and they work fine, so I know the speakers themselves are ok. All connections have been checked several times and seem ok also. I have checked every volume setting I can find, none of them are on mute. What else can I check? Thanks.

Answer:5.1 speakers not working

HAve a look at sounds in the control panel and then at audio devices, advanced. You will need to set it for 5.1 sound.
