How to disable UAC prompt for a specific application

Question: How to disable UAC prompt for a specific application

I have a command line utility for some purpose. I start this utility from a COM DLL using ShellExecuteEx function. When calling ShellExecuteEx, i specify the lpVerb parameter as "runas" so that the utility is started elevated. I call
the COM Interface function from an exe client on its startup. So when i start the client exe, the utility is also started. My problem is that since the utility is started elevated, it always asks for the UAC confirmation prompt. I can't stand this because
there will be no manual intervention during this process. So I need the utility to be started without showing the UAC prompt, but still elevated when i start the client exe. Is there any way to achieve this? I would prefer some changes done within the utility
itself like changing the manifest file rather than some system settings changes. Any help will be appreciated..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an IR receiver constantly attached to my computer. One program I use always registers it as a game controller, and stops me from using my actual game controllers in favor of it. Is it possible to automate disabling the IR receiver while the program runs, and re-enabling it after the application closes?

Answer:Is it possible to disable a device while a specific application runs?

Hi, if you know or can find a command to disable it, you can write a simple Autohotkey script- for example, a loop that periodically tests to see if your game is running, and if so, disable the device.

(Autohotkey is free and well supported- it can be programmed to test for the presence of a particular process in 1 line).

Probably 5 lines would suffice.

It comes with a comprehensive help file, detailing each command with examples.

AutoHotkey Beginner Tutorial

Or you could create a shortcut to a script that
a. launches the game
and
b. disables the device and exits when you choose.

Answer:Open XP Command Prompt Specific Directory

You can add it to the context menu (also known as the right-click menu) so when you right click any folder, it'll open a command prompt window in that folders directory. Here's how:

A while ago, I installed a trial version of an anti-virus program onto my computer. The program was called Radial Point. I got tired of the program, and tried to uninstall it, by going to "Settings," "Control Panel," and then "Add Or Remove Programs," but for some reason, I just could not uninstall the program. I then tried to uninstall it by clicking on the program's uninstall feature, but that didn't work either. SO, out of frustration, I decided to delete the program, by moving the entire program file into my "Recycle Bin." When I tried doing that, one of the files could not be deleted. So, I just manually sent each file that could be deleted into my "Recycle Bin," and then emptied the "Recycle Bin."

But now, for some reason, every time I second-hand click on any files/folders/programs, etc., 2 different windows pop up:

1) Please wait while Windows configures Radial Point.
2) An error occurred while uninstalling the Anti-Virus. Please contact Customer Support to inquire about this problem.

My question is, how do I disable those windows from popping up, whenever I use the second-hand click feature? They're so annoying. Right now, I just close those windows when they pop up, but I just want to destroy them somehow, and prevent them from ever popping up.

Please help!

How to disable the User Account Control Prompt for certain applicationDate: 12-29-2007
Article: KB946932

Result
Sometimes, you want to disable UAC prompt for certain application on a Windows Vista computer. You do not want to disable UAC for the whole computer.

Using the tool and steps below, you may disable UAC prompt for the specific application. This does not disable the User Acount Control feature for the whole computer.

1) Download and install the Application Compatibility Toolkit from this link:

Answer:Disable UAC Prompt for Certain Applications

Results so far:

The downloaded program and instructions from the KB946932 worked without any problems. However, it had no effect on the UAC prompt for any program that I used with it. Even after a restart. It still gave me the CONTINUE UAC prompt for it.

I am using the 64 bit Vista Ultimate. Hopefully it will work for you 32 bit Vista folks.

I have been trying to diagnose a particular problem where applications freeze for a split 2-3 seconds at random intervals. I really hope that someone might be able to provide some suggestions as I am starting to pull my hair out with this.

For example, I could be running the following programs:
Google Chrome
VLC Movie Player
Skype
Playng TERA Online.

While playing Tera (current active program) and watching a movie on VLC. VLC will freeze for a few seconds (at random) and then continue, while the game I'm playing does not freeze at all.

Another scenario:
Mozilla Firefox
Quicktime Player
MS Office - Excel
While reading a webpage in Firefox (current active program) and listening to music with quicktime, as I scroll through the webpage the browser will freeze and become unresponsive for 2-3 seconds. Meanwhile the music playing in Quicktime has not missed a single beat.

List of attempted fixes:Checked Event Viewer(Applications) for errors, none found.
Adjusted Virtual Memory/Paging file from 8162MB to an Initial size of 16324/Max 32648
Ran stress test (passmark) To check if I could isolate the freezing during certain tests. (Did not lock up at all after running 5 tests)
Used Windows Error checking (CHKDSK) on physical drive to check for errors (none found in Event Viewer)
Updated GPU to latest driver version (v301.42)
Removed secondary GPU(GeForce 8600 GT), Ran with only Primary GPU(GeForce GTX 560Ti)

Hi,

My younger siblings surf the internet all day, oging to websites that are packed with images that fill up the browser cache and slow my computer to a hault.

How do I prevent specific domain names from downloading files (images, cookies) to my computer while still retaining their functionality?

Answer:Disable caching from specific URLs?

You could limit the cache size to a more managable amount...

- Control Panel
- Internet Options
- General tab -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings
- Change 'Amount of disk space to use:' to 150MB or less
- Click Apply then OK
- Clear the cache/cookies etc
- Restart and see how that goes :-)

Also, you can change the location of the cache to a different partition with more space too...but if you're experiencing slow downs caused just by cache, you may also want to think about getting more space for your C drive as you may end up losing or corrupting data.

Hope that helps :-)

i can see two possible solutions.

The First
Adjust the sensivity of the touchpad/mouse using the mouse properties (accessed via control panel in all windows os)

The Second
The mouse setting of "hover to select" (or something similar to that) might be selected. This setting basically eliminates the need of the "click once" mouse operations. Thus resulting in a short hover to select a folder.
Look at the mouse settings and "de-select" this setting.

reply if this helps, or if it doesn't so that another possible solution can be made.

I have 3 USB drives permanently connected to my Win 7 Pro machine. One of which I want access to all of the time, which is why the solution that disables ALL usb drives that I found not applicable. The other two are backup drives that I only want to use once a week during the backups.

It's dangerous to keep my backup drives connected all of the time, were I get to catch some ransomware on my web travels. I want my backups to be offline 99% of the time.

Currently I disconnect them physically, but I'd be just as happy if I could have a few shortcuts on my desktop to some registry settings that would allow me to simply disable access to them. I have looked in the drive properties and see that I can change security permissions but I might end up making the drive inaccessible forever if I get it wrong.

Anyone else had such a minor dilemma as this and found a better way?

edit: I'll be looking for a Win 10 compatible solution as I'm transitioning over to a Win 10 machine and once switchover day happens, these USB drives will be plugged into the new machine instead.

I've had this laptop for 4 years now, it's an ABS Mayhem G3. Ever since I got it, it has had an issue with heating up... When it gets hot, or even warm, it starts popping open browser windows. It did this in XP Pro, it did it in Ubuntu, XUbuntu, and now in Windows 7.

In XP Pro, I use Power Tools to disable the "Open new Browser" Hot key in windows. In Linux, there's a friggin keyboard control panel where it takes a mouse click, poke the del key, click apply, and you're done.

Now I've upgraded to Win 7, and this stupid laptop is doing it again, when I defragment or unplug (not that I have any battery left, I get around 15 minutes of battery time).

Searching google is a huge waste of time, since I ONLY want to disable one key. Is there an easy way to disable this one stupid key?

And seriously, what the HELL has Microsoft not put this straight into the base OS? It's retarded having the hotkeys hard coded into the OS, and you can either enable or disable them all at once, but not pick and choose. Massive fail.

If I can't fix this, I may be going back to XP Pro. I hate this ****ing laptop, but it's really all that I have right now.

I have an old PC with Win XP HOME SP2 (no net connection, no update to sp3) and it's CMOS battery died recently. Since it's so old, I don't plan to replace it with a new one and I also don't use it alot so it's no problem.

This caused the PC time to reset to 0:00 on every startup, giving an error on startup check (on black screen) and later error when entering windows (system time and date not correct etc etc).

My questions:
1. Is there a way to disable CMOS check on the startup (so it wouldn't report an error)?

2. Is there a setting or a wizard/w.e in windows XP where you could disable this error to appear?

Hi,
It seems as though the software developers @ Adobe are REALLY getting even more sophisticated, I'm running IE 11 on windows 8.1 pro edition 32-bit. I seemingly kept getting more and more ad's on web pages, some would even start playing automatically. I was really getting frustrated with this, so I went into the 'add-on' area of IE 11, I opened the 'all-add-ons' area, I found the shockwave flashplayer item, I right clicked on that item..I chose properties..I then clicked on the 'remove all sites' button. That fixed one issue, but now created another one..now when I visit page's that have content on them that requires the add-on I prevented from playing automatically, I receive a prompt at the bottom of the page that asks for permission to 'Allow' the 'Adobe Flash Player' add-on, I just 'X' it off..but I really feel as though there must be someway to prevent that prompt from appearing..has anyone else in here had the same issue ? Hopefully, I've performed a screen capture that shows the prompt I'm referring to.
Thanks,
David

Answer:How To Disable Add-On Prompt For Flash Player

There maybe a way to supress those ActiveX prompts in Internet Options > Security > Custom Level. However, instead of disabling Flash the way you've done it, you could just disable all ActiveX controls by turning on 'ActiveX Filtering' and then whitelist any sites you want to allow to play Flash content.

With ActiveX filtering, you won't get the yellow prompt box at the bottom of the window and the webpage will just think you don't have Flash installed. So some web pages may tell you that you need to install Flash to play some content, in which case you can whitelist them by clicking on the blue crossed out circle in the address bar and selecting 'Turn Off ActiveX Filtering", which will turn off ActiveX filtering for that site.

One thing to be wary of with ActiveX filtering is that it will block all ActiveX controls, so if for example you use Adobe Reader to view PDF's (instead of the PDF reader built into Windows by default) then the Adobe Reader ActiveX control will also be blocked and will need whitelisting on a per site basis as well. Also, if you are not the only user of the computer, others will need to know about ActiveX filtering otherwise they'll undoubtedly be trying to download and install Flash players thinking that it isn't installed...

I use both azureus and utorrent if I open up .torrent file with azureus it auto download it without showing up a azureus download window asking where you want to save it, what files you want to skip and download etc.

but uTorrent each time I open up a .torrent the download window pops out and is freaking annoying. I have already set path in settings on where to save the file, and window shows settings things which I could find in regular options/settings already no need to ask me everytime I download something, I can also skip files or set priority etc during download.

is there ANYWAY to disable it? azureus work nicely with mass opening torrent files, where as utorrent isnt. trying to click on 50+ torrent links on browser and it auto switches from browser to utorrent program after each click, damn annoying.

please help, thank you

Answer:uTorrent DL window prompt, disable

is there not a checkbox on the pop out window to stop it showing.
i have to say i prefer to see if there are a ton of extra folders or files in a torrent before i download it that way i can un tick the boxes on the files i dont need.

hello,

im wanting to disable a shutdown prompt that appears with windows 8.

ive installed a 'soluto' equivalent to a start menu, using their website and software, tweaks etc.

for some reason I now get a prompt when I click on the 'shutdown' button in the start-menu on the desktop.

is their a way of disabling this ?

many thanks

stuart

ps... I have checked with soluto, they have been no help.

... the prompt reminds me of an old 98,xp feature, where a drop down arrow appears, and asks wether you want to shutdown, restart, sleep etc etc ...

Answer:windows 8 , shutdown prompt ... disable ?

Hello Stuart, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It sounds like they used the command for "Shut Down Windows" shortcut like below instead......

....of a "Shut Down Computer" shortcut like below.

If you like, you could use the "Power" desktop context menu from the tutorial below to make it easy to use for this.

It's happening in IE, but the solutions I've seen on the net all say it's a windows registry issue so I wasn't sure if I should post here or in the windows help forum. I tried to search these forums and came up with a "Fatal error yada yada yada".

How do you disable the prompt "Do you want to open or save this file?" I need to listen to a lot (dozens) of small audio clips (mp3) on the web and it would go a lot faster if that dialog box didn't come up every time I clicked the link to the mp3. I want it to just open the file when I click on it instead of asking what I want to do.

Thanks ahead of time for your help. I have a project to complete and having to click Open every single time is just slowing me down so much.

Hi We use Win xp Pro workstations on a windows network and have a problems with people accidentally dragging and dropping files and folders and them becoming lost.

Is there a way to get a confirmation of a drag and drop in Explorer or to disable it all together so that a user has to cut and paste instead.

Thanks
Rowan :D

Answer:Need to disable or prompt Drag and Drop

Hello Rowan

I think you would have to disable it

Both the options below should be unchecked.

Right-click the Start button, choose Properties, and click Customize. If you?re using the default Start menu, click the Advanced tab and then, in the Start Menu Items box, uncheck Enable Dragging And Dropping. (If you?re using the classic Start menu, in the Advanced Start Menu Options box in the Customize Classic Start Menu dialog box, uncheck Enable Dragging And Dropping.)

There is another setting for "Drag and Drop" in your IE options.
Open IE > Tools > Internet Options > (tab) Security > (button) Custom Level and scroll down to "Drag and Drop or Copy and Paste Files" (under Miscellaneous).

Answer:Disable prompt for HDD password at bootup

If there is no where in the BIOS to disable the password then you are stuck with it. To enter the BIOS you will need the password. It is a security device because laptops are so easily stolen. This password renders a stolen laptop useless to the thief.Stuart

I'm looking for a solution to disable the annoying boot-up prompt for a password for WinXP Pro. In Win98/ME all it took was removing the "Client for Microsoft Network" from the network control panel...this doesn't work in XP. I'm not worried about security, I just want the machine to boot directly to windows on start-up without pausing for my non-existant password.

How can I defeat Trustedinstaller so I can run sfc/scannow? I get the "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service". I will probably also need it defeated while I replace corrupted/missing system files.
I have a crippled Vista machine and a running one with an older Vista installed that I intend to use as a donor for replacement files. When I first started poking around in the crippled one there were two or three restore points saved. I restored the oldest one which was about 7 months old. I was able to run sfc/scannow after that. (I didn't try before that.) After some more poking around I decided to restore to a later restore point, about 3 months old. Now scannow doesn't work.

Before the last system restore I saved a system32 directory list (just the root--no subdirectory breakout) to a text file. Comparing it to the directory now, I have exactly the same number of files and subdirectories and the same total size of files, but I now have about 5 Gb less free space on the C:\ drive. I can't account for the extra stuff. I'm not sure exactly how restore works, whether it can restore windows update files contained in the Softwaredistribution\downloads dir. There would be more stuff in there at a later date, but in order for the net change in hard drive space to occur the extra files would have had to have been compressed more than they were when downloaded. Seems far-fetched to me. I did load some files between restore events: a Toshiba value adde... Read more

Hello,

I'm new to the board here so I'm not positive what the typical format is for posting questions but I'm getting the following message which causes the computer to reboot. The error pops up approximately 2 hours after the computer has been logged in.

Services.exe Application Error

Clicking either OK or Cancel causes the computer to reboot. You can move the window to the side and ignore it but that doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks,

In Win XP, is there a way to force an application to use a specific connection while everything else uses a different connection? Heres what Id like to be able to do:

I connect from home to work via Verizon Broadband and Nortel VPN to access a secure LAN with shared drives and services, including intranet applications. This is already in place and working fine. The work LAN firewall is configured to block all Internet browsing attempts for all devices connected via VPN not necessarily for security reasons, but rather to conserve bandwidth. The VPN switch and firewall share the same router and broadband connection, so incoming Internet requests from home through the VPN would go back out of the firewall effectively doubling the required bandwidth for each request.

This configuration renders embedded Internet links in email and various documents almost useless. There are two choices at present to affect a workaround.

One is to drop the VPN connection when Internet browsing is required; browse to the Internet; and then reestablish the VPN connection after the Internet browsing is complete. This is cumbersome and inefficient at best, but it does work.

The second is to configure the VPN client to use split tunneling. This works too, but puts additional load on the Verizon Broadband connection between home and office (already the slowest link in the path). Also, this option meets with resistance from our network folks for reasons I wont go into here.

What Id li... Read more

Answer:Can I force an application to use a specific network in XP?

The whole point of the VPN is to insure a secure channel into the remote computer. You drill a hole a truck could drive through if you actually allow Internet connections while the VPN is connected!

The ability to have multiple connections is normally configured by the VPN host, and I suspect your company would take a really dim view of you compromising their network for your convenience.

Hello,

I have an application, that has fairly small fonts and no option to increase the font size.
So I thought, that maybe there is a way to zoom the window of that application on the
screen!!
I quickly found several apps, promising to aid in doing that, but soon my disappointment
was quite big, as they were zooming the entire screen (and I couldn't see the entire window
of a maximized application, which I have open in parallel) or just an area around the mouse
or I had to specify which coordinates on the screen to zoom (how annoying can that be ?!?).
And I wasn't able to find an app, which would just say - click on the window you want me to
zoom in to and that's all...
Please kindly help me !! Thanks!

Answer:How to zoom a specific application's window ???

Welcome darkman088 to the forum.
Try this.

Start Orb and type in magnifier. You will get Windows built in magnifier.

I use it a lot. I use a selected button on my mouse to activate it when needed.
You can adjust the magnification from 100% to over 1000% but not much else.

It magnifies the whole page.

I do not think this is possible to do I would think they would interfere with each other.

EDIT: The only way to do this would be to have them connecting to different networks (eg. 192.168.1.1 for wired - then 192.168.2.1 for wireless)

Hi,

I have been OK with Windows XP on my old P4 PCs 2GB RAM (standalone No Internet) that I use for basic word processing and Photo Editing (mainly with FastStone Image Viewer FastStone Image Viewer - Powerful and Intuitive Photo Viewer, Editor and Batch Converter), but would like to upgrade to Windows 10 for more software options.
Am starting to do my homework and just read "Windows 10: Which version of Windows is best for my old Dell Latitude D620 laptop" https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/78010-version-windows-best-my-old-dell-latitude-d620-laptop-2.html
I was encouraged when read Fafhrd 's PC system specs and noticed "CPU: Intel socket 775 Pentium 4 540 HT 3200 Prescott " which is similar to mine.
For Windows XP I have found "Mini WinXP" that comes with Hiren's 15.2 Hiren's BootCD Fan & Discussion Platform on a bootable USB drive to be the fastest for many things.
Does anyone know if there is anything similar for Windows 10?
If not any suggestions for reducing Windows 10?
Thanks

Greetings,
We applied some UAC settings via Group Policy to all Windows 7 machines. Now some old applications are throwing up a prompt and the users normal credentials wont run the app. The point is that the app DID NOT require admin privileges before we applied
the settings. The users were able to launch the app without prompts and run it successfully.
Does anyone know which security or UAC setting may be causing this? Remember that the apps ran perfectly well before these settings were applied  without an administrative account.
Thanks

Hello,
I was trying to figure out a way to block admin share access over windows domain network.
These are my requirements:

Desktop Support Engineers should have administrator privileges on all domain joined windows workstation machines. Domain Users should not have administrator privileges on their workstations.Desktop support engineers should not be able to access admin share over the network.Domain Admin must have full access on Admin Share.
So I have added NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE as a member of Buit-In administrators group and I have added Desktop Support Group as a member of NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE.
Which actually blocked admin share access over network for Desktop support engineers. however I was not able to control Domain Users getting Administrative privileges on domain joined PCs from above settings.

How can I control this admin share access?

Thanks in advance.

Hello - is there a way to disable or otherwise block a specific user on my computer from accessing the internet? The only browser on there is IE8 and this user will not have the ability to download other browsers. The reason why I want to do this is not important - it just needs to be done. Use of other apps on the computer are fine - just don't want them to use my computer to get to the internet.

I have been thinking of using Local Policy settings but can't find how to do it with that. Maybe there is a way to block all http traffic. Open to whatever ideas there are.

I know of no procedure to disable drivers in cmd. The way to disable device drivers is to uninstall them in Device Manager.

But I suspect that you have a different problem all together. What exactly is happening at boot time.

The code used may work in a command prompt but I have not tested it.

i have googled for : disable .net passport

and all i came up with was this:

Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MessengerService
Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: REG_BINARY [Binary Value] // Value Name: PassportBalloon
Modify the Value Name [PassportBalloon] according to the Value Data listed below.
Value Data: [Change Value to 0A 00 00 00]
Exit Registry and Reboot

tried that and it didn't work, and this passport login window is about to drive me nuts, cause another forum member at one of the forums i frequent is hosting a signature pic on www.msnusers.com, and it prompts me to login every time i come across a thread he has posted in.

below is the window i'm talking about:

someone please help me get rid of this thing, it's pissing me off!

Answer:Disable .Net Passport login prompt window?

It's really a nonsolution, but ...
If you're using IE, you could try another browser, at least until you find a more direct solution.

I have a P61 that has served me well. I am planning on giving it to my daughter. The only issue isit prompts for a password. She is going to hate that and I want to disable it. Does anyone know how. Thanks

Answer:How do you disable the enter password prompt when starting up

I assume you are talking about a password before the OS start to load? If yes you can press F1 when you see the Thinkpad logo (right after you turn on the computer) to enter BIOS. When you enter BIOS you got an option called Security and under security the option "Passwords".Then change every password setting (supervisor password, BIOS password, HDD password and so on) to disabled. You enter the old password and change to a blank password to remove the passwords. When finished press F10 to exit and save the changes.

If you want to prevent your daughter to make these kind of changes in BIOS you can keep the supervisor password and choose that you have to enter the supervisor password to make BIOS changes. In that case she should only be prompted for a password if she try to enter the BIOS settings.

Hello all, this is my first post in the 7forums and I'm ashamed of myself that it has to be one asking for help - mind you all, I'm tech savvy so I know what I'm talking about unless I otherwise note it, but here it goes:

In the past, I have had to use the built-in Administrator account to install Microsoft's virtualization software and install Windows XP Mode (I don't know why it wouldn't install before, I even disabled UAC with failed results). In order to do this, I enabled the Administrator account via Command Prompt, as recommended by a tech support specialist I used the command "net user administrator /active yes" and the Admin account was active, I installed the program, disabled the Administrator account, and went on my merry way.
It is now about a year later and after I have created a system image of my computer (I only made one because I do not have enough sufficient storage to make multiple ones, or even replace my current one) I have found out that there is an issue with command prompt or something... I unfortunately do not know. I had to reactivate the Administrator account for one reason or another and did my business, but after I reactivated it I came to find that the same command to activate the Administrator account... Changed its password. I used a Linux Live CD with Ophcrack to find out that the password for my Admin account was changed to "yes". And after I tried to disable the account, INSTEAD of it being disabled, the password was se... Read more

Answer:Command Prompt won't Disable Administrator Account

I'm not sure why you find it alarming that net user can change user passwords. The control panel and computer management console will let any administrator change user passwords as well. It's the way things are supposed to work.

The DistributedCom error message appears in Event Viewer on ALL my personal computers only the CLSID, APPID and NT SIDs change.

I know the CLSID and APPID, how can I identify the software these numbers represent?
I know authority to launch the service for user S-1-5-18 has not been granted, who is S-1-5-18?
I wonder how to use the Component Services Admin tool to grant local launch permission, assuming launch is desirable.

This is a question concerning anonymity and maintaining privacy. I can use a proxy server, http or socks, and that shows I am connecting from another address than my home IP. However, some sites also track things like browser language and time zone. Language I can simply change by using an English version of my browser rather than a Swedish one, but what about the time zone? Even if I connect through say a US proxy, it will show my time zone as central European.

The question: Is there any way to either prevent the time zone from being detected through the web, or change the time zone which is displayed? I know I can of course just change the time zone of my system but I'd rather not as it will mess up logs and such. If there is another way of doing it, either with what utilities are in place or by additional software, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I use Tunngle to game online through LAN, and it uses a service named TnglCtrl.exe which uses 10mb of memory idle. Even though when I am not using Tunngle, it starts. If i close the service, Tunngle will refuse to run. So I would like to know if it is possible to do the following:

In Services, I set TnglCtrl.exe to Manual startup. When I would like to start the Tunngle application, TnglCtrl.exe would start automatically. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Slasher

Answer:Starting a specific service when opening an application

Just have it on all the time...10 MBs of RAM is absolutely NOTHING.
You have way to much RAM to be concerned over this.

hi
there is an application that communicates with remote server. it connects to the server and the user selects the records/files (txt or tif files) it then starts downloading them.

the issue with it is that this application works from home or non company internet. but it doesnt works on company network.

i want to investigate whats stoping it.

it can successfully login to the server and shows the files needed to be downloaded. and it sometimes does starts downloading . but it fails midway through files.

we are behind a tmg.

and tmg client is working but no success with it.

so i want some application to be installed on that particular pc on which the application is not working .(again it works if non company internet is used). that should just monitor the packets sent and received by that application..

wireshark is too complicated.. and displays all packets flying by.

how can i corelate the packets shown in wire shark to that specific program ?

any other alternative ?

or how to tackle the issue with this particular app? that is what i want to solve.

update:
that application uses http to download data .

Answer:monitor the traffice sent and received by one specific application

Start with Process Monitor. It will not show you the packets, but it might provide a clue.

I have a laptop on my desk just for testing external access issues to our sites. I'd rather not.

I know it's been asked.. I think I've read over 20 posts on it with no clear and simple solution.

On my windows7 x64 station I have a hard wired LAN Network Connection and a USB wireless network conection. If both are up, IE uses the wired Lan connection. If I disable that LAN connection, IE uses the wireless. Great.. but?

What If I want to have both up? Reading emails and and accessing other intranet resources normally, but surfing via the wireless. Or even better, surfing from a specific browser or instance of a browser through the wireless Connection, and all others using activity through the wired Lan connection?

I'd like to do this without a Proxy or a VM. I understand there is a product called ForceBindIP that sounded very promising, but it does not support Windows 7 yet.

Is there maybe a firewall setting to route port 80 and 443 traffic to a specific Lan connetion? How about tweaking setting of the wired lan connection so that it fails to find DNS servers or anything on the outside?

I'm somewhat surprised this is not a setting somewhere already. I see great value having this.

Thanks.

Answer:Forcing an application to specific Network Connection... AGAIN!?

Cisco has a software that can do this but I'm not familor with it and don't know much about it,you might even need a Cisco router to use the software.

Is there a way in Windows 2000 to specify a separate printer for an application without changing the default. Both printers are network printers. Example:

Microsoft Word automatically prints to Printer 1.
(User doesn't have change from the default printer to Printer 1 when print options screen comes up. It is already set. )

All other applications print to Printer 2 (the default printer).

Thanks in advance.
