Preferred Solution: Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Hello,

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

> My Toshiba doesn't want to boot...
Why? What is wrong there? What have you done? Usually something like this cannot happen for no reason.
Have you tried to update BIOS or what?

What happen exactly when you press power button?
Try to remove RAM and HDD and try it again.

This is a cut and paste of a previous post, but one which I am having a problem with today (saves me typing it out again!) :

When I start my laptop, it stops on he Toshiba leading innovation screen and only provides the option to do one of two things. This is what it says at the bottome of the page *"Press F2 to enter Setup, F12 to enter Multiboot Selection Menu"* I have tried both. I pressed F2, I've press F12 and neither one gets me pst the screen

- When I press either after the Toshiba screen is visible, they do nothing
- If I press the F2 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Please Wait". However, I waited for hours and nothing ever happened. The "please wait" message just sat there.
- If I press the F12 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Press F2 SETUP, Entering boot device selection menu....." Then it just sits there and does nothing
The Toshiba Leading Innovation screen remains the whole time.

I have tried removeing the battery and draining flea power - this does not resolve the issue.

When I restart the laptop, I get the situation as per line 1 above. No amount of tapping F8 does anything..I`m always back to the Toshiba leading Innovation page.

The fan is working but the HDD led never flickers.

Any suggestions please? Thanks

Hello everyone,

I wasn't very clever of placing continiously my laptop on the floor, which lead to me stepping on it the other day and now I have a broken screen. It still works, but there are colored cracks..
I contacted Toshiba to check about the cost of such a repair and I was told that the price of the screen only will be more than 300? + the work and all will make it about 400?.
I also contacted a local computer shop and they said that a non genuine Toshiba screen will cost 160? + work.

My question here is: Can I by myself the screen on the internet and does it take any special skills to mount it on the laptop? I have just a bit more than basic skills in repairing elecronics and I suppose I will be able to change it, if it doesn't take any special skills or tools..
And as well, what screen should I buy? A genuine Toshiba one or a less expensive one also does its job?
The brand and the model of the laptop are: Toshiba Satellite P300 - 1G6 - 17"

Thanks in advance for all eventual responses!
Regards,
Nicolas

When starting up it then get frozen on the toshiba screen so unable to go into safe mode etc...

Can anyone help?

Answer:Satellite Pro L300 freezes on Toshiba Splash screen

Hi

This would mean that your notebook cannot pass the POST (Power On Self Test).

Power on self test is a short diagnostic test which checks the motherboard and the connected devices?
Theoretically everything could cause this issue? faulty motherboard, RAM malfunction, etc?

In your case I recommend removing the RAM modules and to check the single modules.
You can try to remove only one module. Check both modules using this procedure?

Otherwise you will need an help from professional technician? the guy could run some tests in order to find out what part malfunctions..

I have quite a weird issue that I haven't encountered before.

When the laptop is turned on, you get the Toshiba splash screen, hitting f2 gets you in to the bios, f12 gets you to the boot menu, both these menus work fine.

However, anything past this just results in a black screen, for example, if I was to choose network boot as the first boot option, or cd-rom, or hdd!

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps

1. Removed HDD/DVD and tried to network boot - nothing
2. Reset BIOS to factory defaults, checked boot items were set correctly
3. Removed ram and fitted known working ram, tried both slots
4. Removed battery and drained the static
5. Attempted recovery of the bios using floppy disk (results in same black screen when trying to boot to it)

No bios updates have been ran previous to this, all the client tried to do was connect the laptop to a projector.

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jon Roberts

Answer:Satellite A300 - No activity after Toshiba splash screen

Hi Jon Roberts,

Why you want to update the BIOS?

If nothing works after the Toshiba screen it seems to be a hardware malfunction. You should contact nearest authorized service provider to get professional help. The guys can check the notebook and repair it.
Furthermore on the Toshiba website you can find a list of all ASPs.

Good luck! :)

Anybody can help?

Thank You In Advanced!

Answer:Re: Satellite P870 - screen flickers for some time after Toshiba splash screen

I don?t know how it looks like but something like this should not happen. If you have brand new notebook contact your local dealer as soon as possible, explain the situation and ask for replacement.

If you are not happy with your product you can get replacement. In my country customers have 14 days time to do this.

My laptop won't boot past the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" logo. I can hear the hard drive starting up, but nothing happens after that. I have reason to believe it's a software and not a hardware problem because the last thing I did on the laptop was exit Windows from safe mode after installing some drivers. So far while troubleshooting I've tried to boot into the BIOS via F2 or F12 to no avail. Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:Satellite A - Can't get past Toshiba Leading Innovation screen

I imagine that you have to reset the BIOS back to factory settings. That involves messing with CMOS.

In YouTube you can find vid tutorial that shows how to bypass the BIOS password. Nevertheless, it really is just a tutorial on how to restore BIOS back to factory settings.

Tell me how it goes, and good luck!
You won't lose your HDD files or settings.

To answer why it happened, I would not be able to know until you describe what you have done with the computer so far that might give me a clue!

I have a 3 yr old Toshiba Satellite M35X laptop. I am running XP. It has a Celeron processor and a 40GB HD. 512RAM. Today I was surfing the web and left for a half hour coffee break. When I returned I was confronted with a black screen and the following: "Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 blah balh. Then: "For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810XPCIFast Ethernet Controller N2.13 (020326)PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F: exiting PX ROMInvalid partition table"I couldn't do anything. I turned off the computer with the power button, waited five minutes, turned the computer back on and got:The Toshiba screen, which led to a black screen with a cursor in the extreme upper left hand corner. Then this message appeared: "A disk read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" which I did. This resulted in the Toshiba log on screen and followed by the Realtek screen again, but this time it repeated itself for ever. What is causing this, and can it be easily remedied, or do I have a defective hard drive? (!)Thank you, in advance, for your prompt responses, good or dire!

Answer:Can't boot past Toshiba screen. Is HD gone?

Well, invalid partition table means that it's not able to read the partition information.... could be a corrupted hard drive.  Have you had any issues lately with the laptop?  Has it been slowing down considerably, causing issues when copying data, etc?  Also, have you had issues with it rebooting, or have you been holding down the power button to shut it off?

Toshiba Satellite Pro L20
Windows XP Home Edition SP 3 (probably 2 now after trying to fix things)
CA Security Centre
Attempted fixes: system restore, last known good configuration, safe mode (and variants) booting from installation cd, repair, recovery console.

Recently, my toshiba satellite pro l20 running windows xp home edition has stopped booting up. I had tried various methods of getting it to work, but nothing did. Currently, if booting normally, with no disk, it will go to the resuming setup (or something like it) screen and then finish on windows safe mode, but just a black screen, with an error message flashing very quickly, and then the computer reboots. If i start it with the windows disk, I can get to the recovery console, but as soon as i enter 1 (which os to choose) it comes up with an irql stop error. If i try going into installation, the irql error happens when i press f8 to agree to the license agreement. Booting into safe mode etc does not work, as it does the same as normal. Any help in this urgent matter is much appreciated.

That was before, but now, on the default setting without doing anything, after the display with press f2 for setup, f12 for bootup options, it is just a black screen with no rebooting.

Also, the laptop is not under warranty any more

Answer:Cannot find Toshiba Utilities for Satellite P300 Win 7 64bit

Hi

May I ask you why you are looking for this ?Toshiba Utilities??
Are some notebook features no available?

In my opinion you don?t need Toshiba Utilities if you are using Win 7.
I have installed Win 7 and everything what I needed, was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains some tools and utilities.
If you want to use FN keys, then you should install additionally Toshiba Flash Cards Utility? such utility is not released for all notebooks models? so try to install such tool released for example for; Toshiba Satellite L500

HI,

I need to make my recovery disc's for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y) but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working, as it is saying that there isnt a HDD Recover file on the pc.
I tried before, and it had a problem with the core files, saying it was corrupt.
So I was wondering if there is anyway I can download the HDD Recovery installation so that I can install it and bring it back to the 'factory state' and reburn the recovery disc's?
Cheers for any help
Mikey

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working on my Satellite P300

Hello Mikey

The situation is pretty complicated. When you got your notebook the recovery files was saved on second partition in ?HDDRecovery? folder. The second partitions and saved files should not be changed.

If you have done something with second partition or this folder Toshiba recovery creator cannot find these files and recovery media cannot be created. This will works with ?factory settings? only. but I see one other problem there.
Theoretically, you can now install OS again using HDD recovery installation procedure, and with factory state you should be able to create DVD but if the Toshiba recovery creator cannot find the files I am afraid the HDD recovery installation can have the same problem.

If you want you can test it. Try to start HDD recovery installation.

Hello everybody,

I bought a Windows 7 upgrade to Toshiba.

And I have 2 DVD :
1 for the Toshiba upgrade and 1 for the Windows upgrade.

I have run the 2 first steps without problems.

But when I have run the 3rd step (which is the upgrade of the Toshiba tools), an error occured and I wanted to cancel thee process (I have even removed the CD from the CD reader) but the process kept running.

In conclusion the process went to the end but no tools are installed and when I want to run the CD again it acts as if all the tools are already installed and it doesn't run.

What can I do for the system to consider that the tools are not installed ?

Or where can I find another install program which will run the Toshiba tools on my system ?

Thank you very much.

As the title states, I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop (If you need exact model, lmk)
that I found in an old box and could actually use an extra laptop around for schooling.
I get a blue screen off boot up as soon as windows begins to load (even before password input)
The error code is 0x0000008e and I have tried most remedies.
Last Known Good Config - dies
reset to older date - dies
Memtest - clean

I feel that the motherboard is either fried or a deep issue is happening.

If I can find the OS cds, would a reformat/install be the best way to go?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Blue Screen on Boot Up

What do you mean by reset to older date? you mean System Restore?

TRY:

1. Try to choose the earliest date on the system restore and  see if it works.

2. Try to do a start-up repair on the windows cd first before you try to format.

it could also be your Cpu, you may need to replace it and try it first before doing anything with the motherboard.

Also if you can get into safe mode, try to uninstall/update all of your drivers in Device Manager by doing this.

1. As soon as your pc starts up hit f8 till if gives you options to go into SAFE MODE.

2. Click Start- Right click Computer- Properties- on the left click Device manager. Then go through each driver and right click on it and hit uninstall and it will re install them self.

Dear all,

I have Toshiba Satellite M70, I need help and i will describe my problem:

- Few days ago my screen went black suddenly, i don't know how cause i was away from the laptop.
- Until yesterday, when i boot my laptop, it gives me black screen all the time but when i put him in standby mode by closing the notebook for few seconds and then i click the on button, my screen starts displaying fine until my next reboot and i start all over again ( i usually keep my notebook working almost 18 hours which means there's a lot of time to my next reboot)
- But Today, I booted too many times , it gives me black screen and the standby mode doesn't work anymore. But few times today when i was trying to boot, the screen displayed the Toshiba screen for only 1 second then gone black again.

P.S. You can see hardly threw the black screen everything if there is a sunlight facing the laptop.

Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Mr. Mher Krikorian

Answer:Black Screen on boot- Toshiba Satellite M70

> You can see hardly threw the black screen everything if there is a sunlight facing the laptop
This is very useful info?
I think the issue is related to the FL inverter?
The FL-inverter is a small part which controls the display backlight.
If this part starts to malfunction then you would see everything like behind a thick fog?

In my opinion the FL inverter should be checked and replaced if necessary?
For that you have to get in contact with an local service technician?

Hi guys,

Just want to find out how to get my computer to register the HDD2 (D: drive). I followed the provided instructions from Toshiba for downgrading to XP from Vista. The sheet said to select any option other than return to out of box state or maintain current partition. So I chose the only other option available.......which was remove the partition or something like that. Now I have 2 hard drives totalling 500Gb, but only one drive registers. What is the best way to sort this out......

Appreciate the help!!!

Hi

I have a new Satellite P300-156 which I have been using for about a month with no problems. It has been great.

This morning I had a message come up to install Toshiba Tempo which I did and all was fine until I restarted the laptop and now Vista wont start.
I have followed all the diagnostic tools, tried system restore etc... but still nothing.

I currently live in Italy, so is hard to take it into a computer repair shop as I dont speak Italian and the operating system is in english.

From what I can see my only option now is to do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery, but I would loose some data which I have done since my last backup. Is there any way to backup data to a usb storage device using command promts before I do this, or is there a simpler way out of this?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks
Keith

Answer:Satellite P300-156: Vista wont start after installation of Toshiba Tempo

Hi

Well, this is really strange issue?

What you could do is to press the F8 button immediately after notebook starting.
This would enable a menu with ?Advanced Boot Options?.

There you could choose the option called ?Last known good configuration (advanced)?.

Please check this option. I this is your last opportunity to boot up the notebook and to start the Vista without using the Recovery CD.

Hello All, my laptop has started behaving a little bizarrely! 6 times out of 10 boot ups my laptop screen is white. If I connect my machine to a monitor then my desktop is visible and works perfectly normally? If I restart then maybe my screen comes back, maybe not. There seems to be no reason for it, totally random?? Or is it ??? Could anyone offer any insight?
Many thanks,

I tried to install windows 8.1 after instalation computer reboot. After this reboot i cant do anything computer stuck on toshiba screen (8h ), when i tried turn of and go to bios by pressing TAB computer stucks on bios Version Screen and wont budge :(

Can somebody help me !! PLS

Answer:Satellite M50D-A-10Z cannot boot, stuck on Toshiba screen

To access the BIOS you have to press F2 button immediately after pressing the power button.
Is this possible? Can you access the BIOS?

The notebook seems to be sold without preinstalled OS. How did you install the Windows 8.1? Did you change some settings in the BIOS previously?

Hi

What do you want to change there?
As far as I know you can change the option to fast boot or normal boot.
Anything else is not possible.

Hi,

I have an NB200-11L that's been sitting around with an annoying problem for a while now.
When I power on the laptop it freezes at the 'Toshiba - leading innovation' BIOS splash screen and goes no further.

I get the same problem with or without AC power
I've tried replacing the HDD but still get the problem.
With no HDD in the system it tries to boot from the network & also allows me access to the BIOS (currently version 1.20)

Anyone else had issues like this & been able to resolve it ?

Thanks in advance :)

Chris

Answer:NB200 freezes at Toshiba splash screen.

Few days ago I saw the same problem on my friends Satellite A205 (US model). After removing HDD I was able to enter BIOS settings.

I?ve set BIOS to default settings, replaced the HDD with new one and now everything works perfectly.

HDD was defective and obviously HDD identification by BIOS has blocked the whole system.

I recommend you to obtain new HDD and do the same.

I'm rebuilding a Toshiba Tecra A6. I have installed a new HDD and have run the installation disk. Unpack was successful. Now unable to complete the installation. Laptop is freezing on the XP splash screen during boot.

Help!!

Answer:Toshiba Tecra A6 freezing on XP splash screen

t boot:
What were the circumstances that necessitated a new HDD & re-install?

Which XP & service pack?

What are the capacities of the old & new HDDs?

Are you installing XP from an operating system CD or a Toshiba recovery disk?

Did you run diags on the new HDD? Brand, model & model # please.

Is this the first boot of the install?

During the install, did you select quick format? If so, run install using the non quick format. During the non quick format, install runs chkdsk, which looks at the HDD for bad sectors, before installing XP.

Hi, my boyfriend's laptop is a Toshiba Satellite. About 3 weeks ago he spilled coffee in it. I got it cleaned up and working perfectly. Then, about week and half ago, he spilled a BIG glass of milk in it. The whole screen went nuts. There were colored bands, dots, stuttering etc. I had him shut it down, unplug it etc.. I tried to open it, managed to get the HD out of it and battery. There were 2 screws stuck in it that I could not get out, although they did not appear to be stripped.

His dad took it to the shop he got it from, the woman had it for a day and said it was fixed. He picked it up yesterday. We just opened it a little bit ago and the desktop was ok, some of the keys were not working though. The A key if you press it, it makes continuous letter AAAAAAAAAA. I had him plug in my extra keyboard and that fixed that issue.

The mouse pad on it is also not working so I had him plug in my extra mouse. All went well there too.

The woman at the computer shop put AVG Antivirus on it, which always seemed to give it issues the last time it was on there when he first got the laptop so we had again uninstalled it this morning. It said it had to restart so he restarted it.

Now it is stuck on the screen.... TOSHIBA Leading Innovation >>> AMD Turion X2 64 and on the bar at the bottom it says...
Press <F2> To enter setup, <F12 to enter MultiBoot selection menu.

I can't get it out of that screen now. I have tried all function keys and rebooted it severa... Read more

I finally got the desktop up. After restarting it 3 more times and trying to get safe mode up, but it didn't go to safe mode screen, it automatically went to the desktop. I'm running a defrag on it. It was really fragmented. But so far so good, I haven't tried to run any other applications on it yet. Wish me luck.

Any ideas why it wouldn't go to the safe mode screen and automatically went to desktop?

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite M55-S329. As I tried to boot it up in the morning, the screen lighted up in a blank whitish mode and stayed this way.
Took out the battery, booted back, same blank screen.
Keyboard is responsive, I tried CTRL-ALT-DEL and it rebooted but right away back in the same blank screen.
I tried to cold boot pressing the power key 30 seconds, with no effect, gets back into the blank screen.
I put in the Recovery DVD, it begun reading it upon boot, but was stuck into the same blank screen.

My first guess and hope was this is some sort of stand-by Win-XP problem.
Now my guess is that this is a hardware problem, either a disconnected video card, or perhaps system board failure. Do you have any suggestions? ...

Hello, I have this problem with Toshiba satellite A300.

I deleted many files and folders from my C and E drives. On restarting the computer, it only shows the Toshiba logo then a blank screen slightly gray on close inspection. Whenever I press the CRL + ALT + DEL keys, the computer restarts and behaves in the same manner.

I have tried using an external monitor but there is no difference. On trying to boot using a CD/DVD, same behaviour happens, it won't boot from it and screen remains blank after the Toshiba logo, I have even tried changing g the boot order but to no avail.

What could be happening?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It looks like you removed system folders and Windows doesn't boot anymore. Have you tried to restore the factory settings from hdd image or recovery disk? Or make Windows copy installation... It's easier to reinstall it rather fixing the problem.

Last night I was working on a slideshow using windows movie maker in Vista. I had trouble getting the software to recognize my video files for my camcorder so I was suggested to try and download codec so it could play my files.... I have no idea what I was doing but gave it a shot.

Even though the codec didn't work even after download I was still able to run my computer normally. This morning I woke up and continued to work on my slideshow but my computer would not play my slideshow. All it would do was play the audio and music files.... Everything else seemed to function so I decided to reboot.

My computer will reboot but now my screen is black. It still "functions" I can see it changing different colors of black and grey as it is rebooting... and I can hear all the audio that comes along with rebooting but I can't get my laptops screen to work.

I hooked up my desktop to my laptop to see if the monitor would work that way. It worked for about 30 sec and then turned black also. I then rebooted and hit F8 and ran in safe mode with my desktop screen still connected. I am able to run in safe mode but not reboot normally. I think I downloaded some virus with that codec.

I then decided to unhook the desktop monitor and just hit F8 hoping the screen would show up on my laptop... but that still won't work. It remains black.

Hi All

got an issue with an A300 laptop about 2-2.5 years old. I have just installed windows 7 prof and it was working fine for about 3 days and then suddenly it stopped booting up.

It gets to the toshiba splash screen and then reboots. it does not even try to boot into windows. you can go into the bios and make changes etc. you cannot press f8 to load into safe mode it does not even get that far.
You can press f12 and get the boot menu up and try to boot from CD but this again does not work and it just reboots again

I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot it. I dont think its a motherboard problem as you can get into the bios.
It could be a HDD problem but then i thought it would have gave you a warning message of some kind ( no boot device available ) and you can see the HDD in bios and would have thought it would have at least booted to CD.

The only things i can think of are RAM problem HDD problem or Motherboard problem.
I think installing win 7 3days ago is just a huge coincidence?

Any help would be great. Thanks

I have just inherited a very nice Toshiba Portege z830 10p. I have gradually been setting it up for use. During this process, I occasionally had trouble with it not rebooting and not coming out of hibernation/sleep.

It is now in a state where when you switch it on the Toshiba logo appears on screen and the fan goes into overdrive, sounding like it's about to take off.

I can't get it to boot into the BIOS setup screen. Though I have previously been in there and even updated the BIOS.

I have pulled it apart to check for loose connections, dirt and dust and all appears ok.

What are my next steps or do I just write it off?

Looking on the Toshiba support website it would appear that it is still under warranty: - see below. I wonder if this is void now though.

It's worth pointing out that a few of the external ports are showing some sign or corrosion though the motherboard/battery and other internals all appear to be intact.

All thoughts/comments are welcome.

Thanks.

Answer:Portege Z830 - Stuck on Toshiba splash screen with fan

Hi
I guess the warranty isn’t valid anymore because you have already disassembled the notebook for cleaning…

Regarding the notebook’s booting problem: to me it looks like the issue could be related to hardware malfunction… if you are not able to access the BIOS and if the notebook freezes while showing the Toshiba logo, then the problem might be related to motherboard problems…

It seems that the POST (power on self-test) cannot be passed properly and usually this can be caused by motherboard (or parts like RAM) malfunction.

Hi

Is it worth turning off the Toshiba logos / splash screens that crop up before Windows 7 loads? I have been looking around to learn how to turn the off but have yet to find an answer I'm confident in!

If it is, where can I learn how to do it?

I have a Toshiba Satelitte C670 D - 11K, windows 7, 64 bit.

Thanks ...

Answer:Solved: Turning off splash screen on Toshiba laptop

You may be able to turn it off in the BIOS but it's rarely an option in laptops, but is it worth it...nope, it won't improve performance. I'm sure someone has found a way to flash a hacked BIOS onto some machines but I'd strongly advise against that as you could end up bricking the laptop.

*HELP!!!*

Windows will only boot in safe mode or safe mode with networking. My screen is messed up (dark and grey with horizontal lines and the screen looks like it's continuously scrolling).

I connected the laptop to an external monitor and it still won't boot normally and I need to recover contacts for my iphone from itunes.

Is there anything I can do? I really don't want to lose all my contacts! I've contemplated removing the hard drive and popping it into another machine and try to boot windows normally with access to my current drive with all the data that's on it, but I don't know if that would work or if it's a bad idea.

What could be causing the screen to get all messed up and at the same time windows refusing to boot normally? I never had virus problems before!

Help! Thanks :)

Answer:Re: Toshiba L305 Satellite 1) screen is messed up and only boot in safe mode <3

Hi,

> Windows will only boot in safe mode or safe mode with networking

It looks like the bootmanger is corrupted or something like this

> I really don't want to lose all my contacts!

As I know, i safe mode you have an access to all data on hard drive. So, you can move all important data to usb drive or to the 2 nd partition (if available) on your hdd and you don't need to remove the hard drive
Then, you can reinstall Windows with a recovery disk or using Win copy disk. it's the best solution in your case, trying to fix windows can take much time than a new installation.

Good day, everybody!

It's not a problem, but I'd like to know how it could happen... so I have a laptop "Dynabook G9" which was bought in Japan. It's like satellite 5200 series... When I turned it on, the logo "DYNABOOK" displayed and computer kept loading... few days ago I tried to update BIOS but downloaded update from Russian Toshiba website for 5200 series... cause there is no update for BIOS on Japanese site...

When I ran downloaded file it said that I have BIOS v 1.40 and it can not be updated to v 1.50 because it's not for my laptop... so my idea to use update for European laptops did not work... but the question is that now I have "in touch with tomorrow Toshiba" logo instead of "DYNABOOK" and how could it happen? And how can I get it back?

Computer still working fine... but.. I don't know... I just like "DYNABOOK" logo more :-)

P.S. may be it changed not after trying to update the BIOS (I'm not really sure) but it definitely changed.

Answer:Dynabook G9: Toshiba splash screen changed after trying update BIOS

I already wrote something in other topic and because of that I just want to say hi again ;)

Dear Andrey problem is that Toshiba does not produce notebooks as ?world wide? product and there are several global areas: US market, EMEA area (Europe-Middle East-Africa) and also Asia. I do not know for sure if Japan is separately market but I think it is.

So notebooks produced in every of those areas are adapted for each of them. Because of that you can not mix BIOSes and Toshiba designed tools and utilities. I believe that in most of cases it can work but it is not for sure. For EMEA notebook it is recommended to use BIOS and other stuff explicit from Toshiba Europe support page. For US notebooks there are all drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba US support page.

Now you have Japanese notebook and use non-Japanese BIOS or software. For me it is logic that some changes will happen. I do not believe that someone has good experiences with this but you should be happy your notebook works well.

That?s all what I can say about that.

Anyway good luck and have fun with your ?toy?!

Folks are out of town and Mom sent email with "greetings" in the subject line. This is an expected thing when Mom and Dad go on a trip...pics and an update...cool! NOT!!! I guess Mom's email was hacked
When I was done with email and a quick FB check, I did a malware scan, defrag and a Windows security udate followed by a restart. The problem began upon restart.
I have tried to boot in safe mode AND every other option that is there on that page (command prompt, etc.) without success. I end up at the flashing screen- obviously part of the boot process, but it never gets any further :cry

Any of these could just as easily be the cause of your problem. It does not have to be a malware issue.

If your CD drive does not work and you cannot boot Windows, you are in trouble. I will be moving this to the Software Forum to work because at this point there is no proof of malware and you need help getting your PC to boot up. Perhaps some one can walk you thru creating a special USB flash drive boot disk. The problem is in what to do with it. Run a malware scan??? Not sure this is your problem. Maybe one of the below could be used in USB form:

So my problem is an usual one which I've yet to find a solution to, it's possible that it's hardware related but I'm unsure, the issue is this, I recently moved my desktop from one side of my room to another (I'll get onto this later) and after setting it back up again and plugging all of my USB devices I booted it up and it loaded straight into Windows as it should (I have turned off password authentication on boot up), it immediately popped up with notification stating it was installing drivers for unknown device, then it froze, no blue screen, it just froze as it was, no input was working and so I hard reset the PC by holding down the power button, upon turning back on the computer it will no longer get past the initial splash screen that shows the Asus Logo (Its an Asus Z170M Plus Motherboard), and even more interesting is that it does not respond to any sort of input from various keyboards, so now I'm stuck with a computer I can't use and I suspect Windows has something to do with it, if not and it's a hardware issue I'd appreciate guidance on what to do next, I've tried removing all components and testing them all, the problem still remains even with only 1 DIMM of RAM and the cpu, it just won't respond, resetting the CMOS also didn't help

I recently rebooted my pc and now it hangs at the XP splash screen with the blue bar starting and stopping every few seconds. There was no indication of a virus, trojan, etc and all the hardware seems to be OK. It even hangs when attempting to go into safe mode though I only had the option a few times and cant get back to choosing how to boot up. I hit F8 but only get what drive to use to boot. I went into the recovery console and tried with out any success the following:

chckdsk-found errors but no change
fixboot
boot cfg
Seagate HD tools, everything passed

I also tried a XP repair which went through fine but still I get to the splash screen and nothing. I even let it sit there for 2 1/2 hours. Could it be a hardware issue? I will try removing memory and see if that could be the hang up. Of course my last resort is to reinstall as I want to get some files off the drive. Is it possible to install XP on a partition or another drive and have access to my files so I can back them up? Thanks in advance.

My rig was running fine until I go to plug in my phone into one of the frontside USB ports to charge. The computer instantly turned off, and since then it will not boot past the black XP splash screen with the moving bar at the bottom. I was able to successfully boot into safe mode after pressing F5 before the splash screen comes up, so I was able to pull off some crucial files.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed or what is causing this? FYI, this is a custom built rig with a core2duo, 4gb ram, Gigabyte mobo. It's about 3 years old and I've never had problems until now. I've done some hardware unplugging/troubleshooting, so I'm more inclined to think this is a software issue.

I've also tried this, from another forums thread several years ago, but it did not work for me:

Run the Recovery Console and press R. When at the command prompt type:
chkdsk /r
This will check and fix any errors. Reboot after its done. It problem still exists, run Recovery Console again and this time type:
fixmbr
If it says you have a non-standard or bad master boot record then select yes and run it.

and also this:
First off, boot your computer from your Windows XP restore cd/OS cd, when the menu comes up hit the R key to get to the recovery prompt.
The prompt should start off at C:\Windows. Type cd system32. The prompt should now read C:\Windows\system32
Type: copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
Reboot

Sometimes the first part of the boot sector gets corrupted and repairing it can get you back running. The only thing you won't know is if there was other damage inflicted somewhere else. Don't forget to backup your data regularily -- if you value it anyway.

ok this one has me scratching my head

yesterday morning I was able to bootup my computer fine, got past splash screen, was able to login, startsup.
mozilla newest version has been crashing on me recently, but it seems to happen to a few of my friends too.

anyways i turned it off, because for whatever reason my computer no longer sleeps (makes me be a bit more aware of when and how i use my computer), and walked away for about 3 hours.

i come back, turn on, goes to xp home splash screen, and then black screen, no cursor.
i restart: turns on, goes to splash screen, i get a cursor this time, but still just black screen.

so i restart; turns on, f8 into safemode, thinking darn virus or something. safemode loads up, but the resolution is high.
normally when i load into safemode its at 600x800, blue desktop, and i can't resize it, but the windows for all my virus scanners look like they would in normal mode, just taking up the whole screen...

this time i have more than enough space, the screen has a black desktop, has SafeMode in four corners, and system detail printed at top
my antivirals (AVG, spybot S&D, malewarebytes..) programs run on the bare minimum, (no fancy interface) only black screen and blocky white letters. no problems found (well actually i don't even get a log, it just kind of finishes and closes) i can't resize the resolution.

The short version is that Windows XP will not boot past the splash screen. Thinking this was a hard drive problem, I reformatted and tried another hard drive and the problem persists. So on 2 newly reformatted hard drives, I cannot boot XP past the splash screen, though I can boot into safe mode just fine.motherboard: NF650-iSLIT-Acpu: Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.4 GHzhard drives: 1 TB and 320 GB Seagate Barracudasram: 2 x 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2GPU: 8800 GTSSo I don't think it's the hard drives since I can access both of them via safe mode. I've tried starting up the machine with one of the sticks of memory removed and then the other. I've also run memtest86 with no problems, so I don't think it's the memory either. I'm not sure what else to do to diagnose the problem. Can anyone help?

Can you boot to safe mode?Poor quality hard drive cables or even loose cables could cause it. Bios setting set too fast could also. Hi,I have a toshiba netbook nb305 with linux and windows 7 installed on my netbook. Recently I changed the power settings to never go to sleep and since then I notice it won't boot up. I did this in Windows which is why I think it is a Windows issue. Normally it would boot up to grub for me to choose which OS to boot, but now all I get is a blinking cursor on a black screen.

I have tried booting without the battery, on some forums I've seen people say pressing 0 gets to recovery but that doesn't seem to work for me. And being a netbook I don't have a dvd drive to use something to boot off, so I was wondering if there is something I could install onto a usb to boot and fix all of this. But I'm running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I purchased a Toshiba A205-5804 on 3/2008 to use for school. It is running on MS Vista OS. A few months ago my DVD/CD R/W stopped working, which I wasn't too worried about because I already had all the software loaded onto my computer that I needed to use for my classes. Yesterday I was working on my computer when it froze...I tried the CTRL+ALT+Del but it didn't do anything so I did a manuel shut down (which I've done in the past with no problems). When I restarted my computer the toshiba screen came up and the computer proceeded as normal in the loading process until it got to the black screen with the white arrow that normally appears for a few seconds before the Vista screen appears. When the black screen came up the HD light stopped blinking and nothing else happened. I also tried booting in safemode but ended up with the same results. I tried running the recovery discs however that won't work because my disc drive isn't working. Please help...I'm taking online courses and can't afford a new computer.

yesterday out of the blue my computer gets stuck on the splash screen, i turn on my computer and when i see its stuck in the splash screen i try to go into POST and see what was up, but i cant get out of the splash screen, and i cant go into safe mode or anything, i cant even go into BIOS. However, if i spam the hell out of the tab key when starting up my computer, it takes me into POST, if i wait untill the splash screen is on i never get into POST, but when i do it only gets to the point where it says, memory OK. the only thing i have considered so far was that maybe its related to my power source, as i just installed a new 7600 gt card and I still have a 350 watt power supply, probably not smart but it seemed to work. I havent tried anything hardware-wise yet and im looking for suggestions.

Answer:My computer cannot boot past the splash screen please help!

You have a hardware failure. It could be the "new" power supply, bad memory or a failing hard drive. If your motherboard has on-board video, remove the 7600GT and see if the system boots

Good afternoon. My apologies if this thread is in the incorrect forum.

Here's the issue. I started up my desktop just fine today. No problems at all. I get online and go to a website, I forget which one. One I haven't been to before, for sure. As soon as I access the site, Kapersky starts flipping out about some rootkit virus. I start the virus scan and it notifies me that I need to reboot my computer, so naturally, I do so.

Upon restarting my computer, It goes to the screen asking for safemode and what not. I start it normally, and it goes to the XP splash screen. It loads for a few seconds, then restarts. Finding this rather frustrating, I restart it and choose safe mode with the same results.

I assume this is a boot sector error, so in order to try to reinstall the operating system, I insert the XP boot disk that I have. My computer allows me to attempt to boot from CD, but nothing happens, and it continues to the safe mode screen. I press F8 and choose disable automatic restart on system fail, and it comes up with a BSOD after the XP splash screen. It tells me I need to run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and to restart. Since I cannot get to the command prompt, I am unable to comply. The error at the bottom of the screen is as follows.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xBA4EB380, 0xBA4AEB07C, 0x8AD54805)

Yesterday I ran system in safe mode again and mouse pointer behaved. Then I added networking and ran some diagnostics and it still behaved. Hello guy and gals, I've been trying to diagnose this problem with the help of a few friends and we're out of ideas at this point.

The computer in question is a home built PC the worked fine for two years before this problem occurred,I'm told the problem first started when it got a virus but I don't know for sure. The PC has an Asus P5N32-E SLI MB and it's running Vista Home Premium 32-Bit.

When I start the computer it loads to the bios splash screen and normally freezes there, occasionally I'm able to get into the bios before it freezes where I can see that all of the temps are normal and nothing jumps out as unusual, however I only have about 20 seconds to look through it before it freezes. Before this started it would just just keep rebooting when it got to the post screen with occasional distortion of the bios splash screen.

I have tried replacing the hard drive with a known working one, and I have replaced the video card with a known working one; I have also pulled all of the ram out of the computer and tried each stick individually without success. I have pulled the battery several times and cleared the capacitors and so far I have gotten nowhere.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for your help.

XP sp2 self-assembled three years ago. Mboard Asus P5B-E. Not turned off for several weeks (sleep button on Msoft keyboard). Powerup light comes on, drive light illuminates briefly but shuts off when motherboard splash screen appears. Splash screen remains and keyboard unresponsive. Can't access BIOS or Safe. Does this reflect CMOS battery failure?

Answer:XP won't boot past mboard splash screen

" Does this reflect CMOS battery failure?"No, you are having some other problems like memory. If you can not get into the BIOS then you are stuck. Try removing the RAM and reseating it. Try pulling out any perihelia cards that might be causing a conflict. Check to make sure the CPU Fan is working properly. Check the Power Supply Unit. Double check the Keyboard connection.

So far I've tried (with no success):

2) put in a new video card
3) put in a different hard drive with a fresh Windows XP install
4) different memory

What am I missing?

Whats going on guys,
I have a Windows XP Professional Edition and i incurred a spyware virus on my PC, so i made a dumb decision by running MSCONFIG and changing my SAFEBOOT option, I did this because previously I couldn't even get into Safe Mode, it would load the files on the screen

example:
and my CPU would reboot, i even tried the other Safe Mode options (command prompt, networking, etc.) I still couldnt accomplish logging into a Safe Mode. But I could still log into Windows Normally.

BUT Now (after changing my SAFEBOOT option in MSCONFIG, thinking i couldnt log into Safe Mode that way), I cannot even log into Windows XP (PERIOD.) Normally or via Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, or any-other way. My CPU loads up and once it reaches the Windows XP Splash Screen it appears to be normally loading, then my screen goes blank and my system reboots, It reboots in an endless loop, i could leave this sucker on for a whole month and it would still be in an infinite boot loop between the start-up of the CPU and the Windows XP Splash Screen..lol

my problem is similar to this guy's

The windows configuration with the drivers for the acer motherboard etc will not be liked when you put it in the toshiba and so windows pukes on it. You can try a "repair of the operating system" which will usually work', but it depends how familiar you are with a computer.

Afternoon All, I have an Acer 8930G, it's knocking on some years (approx 7ish) and this is the first problem I have had with it. When i turn it on, the normal Acer screen shows up and then where it would normally load to windows it just blacks out. There is still power as the all the lights are still working and there is a white-ish light which looks inside the base of the screen. I have looked around on the web and have tried the flashlight on the screen and also removing battery / power cable and holding down the power button for a minute and rebuilding and trying again, but to no avail. I am able to get onto the BIOS screen, and it did look like the boot device in position 1 was the BD drive, I moved this back to the hard drive but still the same.... Does anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong?? Many Thanks In Advance Ross

Hello. As the title says, my Ideapad Y500 is starting to have some issues. A week ago it refused to shut down. Screen would turn off but not the laptop, which would remain kind of dormant. Following some advice online I uninstalled Express Cache form the Control Panel. Now the system turns off, but I have a new problem, this time booting up.Whenever I boot up the laptop it goes to the Lenovo splash screen, then black, then resets to the splash screen and stays there forever. If I shut it down manually and then boot it up again, it goes to Windows as it should, but the whole process takes from 2 to 10 minutes. If I try to restart the system, same thing happens.  If I keep doing this I fear one day it will just die on me.Added to this, I've been getting intermitent failures of the Intel RST software, which sometimes just won't work at all. Other times it's fine. I read somewhere I should update the drivers but I don't know where to find them or if hey may harm my pc even more.I'm running Windows 8.1 (64 bits). So far, besides uninstallid Express Cache, I have run chkdsk on both disks on my system and they appear to be fine (or at least nothing comes up when running the scan). Beyond this, I have no clue how to proceed. I'm not a especially tech savvy person, so any help you guys might give me will be greatly appreciated it. Also, if you can explain it as clear and simply as possible, it would be that much better. Thanks a lot!

I'm running Win XP Media Center Edition SP1 2002 now (I reformatted, used to have SP2 installed.) and only recently have I been experiencing this mysterious issue that frustrates me to no end. A little tidbit of information before I go on, somebody installed Windows Virtual Machine (with a windows 98 download from some forum) maybe a week ago. That's when the start-up problems began, so I'm led to believe that this could be the culprit. I have no idea.
Anyway, when it first refused to fully boot, it couldn't get to the Win XP splash screen. I had somebody look at it. He went to the Setup menu and restored it to the optimized defaults. Either that temporarily cured it, or we were lucky. It started up normally and I didn't turn off the computer for maybe two days. After I finally DID shut it down, the problem persisted, however this time it WOULD get to the splash screen, but nothing else. Returning it to the optimized defaults would do nothing. Since the computer was old, slow and flooded with programs I myself didn't install, I thought it was a good time to just reformat the whole darn thing and start fresh. Thirty minutes later, I try to boot up, guess what, the same thing happens. Nothing past the splash screen. It's not like I can restore it to a past setting that worked since the OS is wiped clean. I've read about "faulty hardware" confusing the system, but nothing plugged in that I know of is faulty. Mouse, monitor, keyboard, po... Read more

I had my laptop stacked away in my closet for about a month after I moved.  I finally took it out, but when I pressed the power button, the laptop started, got to the hp splash screen, stayed on it for a while (5 seconds) and then the display went blank and ended up with a cursor appearing at the top left of the lcd.  Thought it was the hard drive, that the OS has gotten corrupt, so I took out the hard drive and swapped it with a good booting hard drive from another hp laptop.  But still the same thing happened.  after starting I get the splash screen for five seconds and then the display ends up with a blinking cursor at the top left.  By the way, when I tried the original hard drive of the non bootable laptop in my other hp, it booted up without problem.  So it wasnt the hard drive.

Next I took the hard drive out of the non booting laptop. and started the laptop without a hard drive.  Same thing happened, splashed screen followed by blinking cursor.  So the laptop never got around to reading the hard drive, and it was apparent the problem was with the hardware.

Is this something that can be fixed and in any case what could be causing this behavior

Answer:hp pavilion dv6110us does not get past splash screen/boot up

Well...you cannot take a hard drive from another computer reflecting different drivers, settings, components, and (possibly) license...and insert it into another system and expect it to boot.  Unless the systems are identical, that should always present problems.

And...if the laptop is set to boot from the hard drive, but there is no hard drive...you should never even get to a splash screen (unless you are referring to a non-Windows screen.

It's unlikely that the O/S was damaged by inactivity...no acivity, no chance of file damage.

The blinking cursor, black screen typically indicates a problem with boot files.

I would properly attach the correct hard drive...and then run the HP Hard Drive Diagnostic, following HP instructions.

Hi guys, I'm dealing with a problem which is currently (but I sincerely hope, not permanently) rendering my G700 useless. When I attempt to boot my PC it freezes at the Lenovo splash screen. I've waited ample amount of time but nothing appears to happen. One time I waited and managed to get into a Windows troubleshooting menu where I attempted to wipe the PC and start fresh, but this also froze at the lenovo screen soon after. Pressing the Novo button gives me 4 options but it appears to freeze, not allowing me to scroll through the options, or press enter. If I remove the harddrive it tells me to insert media and press OK, but once again, it appears to freeze as pressing enter doesn't do anything. I've tried booting from a USB stick but can't seem to get into any setting which would allow me to do this.I Removed DVD drive as I read on this forum that it was an issue with different Lenovo laptops, and since I don't use it anyway, decided to give it a go, but unfortunately nothing changed :-( If any kind soul could advise me with what I could possibly do, it be would be greatly appreciated as I'm dreading the thought of having to purchase a new laptop. Thanks :-)

Okey, here it goes....
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..
My pc decides not to boot past the bios flash screen.

Detailness

- So i got a new sata hdd not long ago.

- I had Ubuntu and Windows 7 on duel boot. They both worked fine and never gave me any trouble.

- Decided i didn't want duel boot anymore.
I just wanted a fresh install of Windows 7
because im going to be upgrading the mobo, ram, CPU and gfx card.
Basically everything going to be upgraded over the course of the next couple of weeks.

- So i proceeded to format my 500gb sata hdd and install Windows 7.

- After the files copied from the dvd to the hdd my pc rebooted as expected.

- Then the normal boot screen appeared. this is where it hangs.

This is pretty much what i see:

Press del to run setup
Press f8 for BBS POPUP
DDR Frequency...... blah blah
Initializing usb controllers.. done.
Auto-Detecting Pri slave... IDE Hard Disk
Auto-Detecting 3rd slave... CD/DVD ROM
Sec Master: ST3500418AS CC38
Ultra DMA Mode-5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status OK
It just hangs on this.

- I cant boot from dvd or cd
- I cant press del to run setup, it just says entering and does nothing else
- I cant press f8 for bbs popup, it just does the same as pressing del

If i remove the sata hdd i can then press del or f8 and it lets me into the bios.
same with the dvd drive. If the hdd is unplugged then i can boot from the dvd.
what i think the problem might be is my processor. its pentium 4... old... Read more

My friend asked me to help him repair his Dell P28F Inspiron. It gets past the Windows splash screen then it sits at a black screen with a moveable cursor. Not the blinking I cursor in the top left. Just a regular cursor that can be moved. I tried all his recovery options/diagnostic tools and a lot of different commands in the F8 Repair boot with command prompt section. I told him a couple moths ago how to get his Microsoft key but he put it in a text file on his desktop. I turn the computer over and it says it comes with Windows 8. I ask what version of windows was on the laptop. He says MS windows 7 Home Premium. I ask why. He says hard drive crashed so he took it to someone's shop for a new hard drive and that person put 7. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that I bought new about three months ago. I often put it into sleep mode at night so I won't have to totally reboot the next morning. A few days ago I forgot to plug it in overnight. The battery must have run completely down, since it had no power the next day. I plugged it in and powered it up like normal - but it only got to the "Smith family" intro page with the spinning dots that go round and round, waiting for the desktop screen to appear. Except it never does. Those dots never stop going round and round. I tried booting into safe mode (by holding down the Shift key) when it starts, but it only booted to a blue screen with the same spinning dots and no change or alternate screen. I removed and replaced the battery - no change.

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary the last night I used the laptop. If I can't even get into it or get to safe mode, what else is there? And this is a *new* computer! Is this a Toshiba thing or what?

Hi folks... maybe you can help me.  I bought a used S10e in apparently great cosmetic condition with a known boot problem.  It powers on, shows splash screen and the F2 Setup or F12 Boot options at the bottom of the screen the LENOVO logo.  The screen stays frozen and remains on with the keyboard locked.  It will simply stay on that screen.  Until tonight, that was as much as I could get it to do. Tonight, after playing with it a bit, I held down the ESC key as it started to power up and once it displayed the splash screen it beeped loudly about 15 times and changed screens into an apparent boot sequence.  It announced the bios name and other information but I noted a comment regarding "no tpm or tpm problem right before it froze up again.  Encouraged, I shut it off and and tried to power it up again.  This time, after I hit the ESC key and started getting the beeping as the screen shifted, I managed to access the cmos settings.  I carefully went through the CMOS and very carefully ensured no passwords were enabled in either the HDD bootup, supervisor or user areas... I cleared everything out, I think and also reinitiated the factory settings.  I saved all that and tried to save the CMOS and reboot.  When I did, it locked up at the splash screen again and I couldn't go any further.  I repowered up again, hitting the ESC key, then the F2 key as it was beeping and managed to get back into the bios and CMOS. S... I'll start my computer, it will post and go into the BIOS just fine, it will always get past the screen right after the bios (with the motherboard logo and the windows spinning dots) and then it will go to a blank screen of blackness. It's had this problem off and on for a while, and I put in a new power supply about 2 weeks ago and it fixed the problem but now it will only boot into safe mode.

It has no problems in safe mode and I have not seen it BSOD once.

What kind of necessary information should I gather for y'all? This has been happening for a couple of months now, and it used to be sporadic on the old power supply, but then it always happened, and now it seems to be happening all of the time now as well. Oddly, if I were to disconnect the ethernet cable it seemed to boot up better on the old power supply, but it doesn't matter what I disconnect now, it doesn't seem to want to boot up past the spinning logo thing before you actually get into any kind of windows 8.

Thank you all so much!

Answer:Computer will not boot up past the windows splash screen

First off, the ethernet cable has nothing to do with it. Of course the old adage goes. If it worked before you messed with it. Now it does not. You did something wrong.

Go back and check all connections and add-on cards. Also what is the wattage of the new Power supply. What is the wattage of the old Power supply.

My computer was originally an emachines, but its pretty much a mutt now.I have changed or upgraded virtually everything in it accept for the mobo and the HDD. This morning, I was changing the case and now it wont boot up. I get stuck on the emachines splash screen and all my fans come on, and the lights on the keyboard flash once, but nothing else happens. I cannot go into the bios, my HDD led does not come on, I can hear the HDD spinning though. if I hold down the tab key while trying to boot, it goes to the boot screen and tries to boot, but gets stuck when it cannot detect the IDE drives. the mobo light does not come on. if i take out the ram sticks, it does make a sound indicating that there is no memory. if i hold down the F11 key while booting, it makes a constant beeping sound. I have tried switching out the PSU, but got the same results. Other than that, I cannot get it to do anything.

is my motherboard fried?

Answer:PC wont boot past the emachines splash screen

Hmmm....

Elaborate on "changing the case". I'm interpreting, I took everything apart and moved moved it to a new box, in which case there's plenty of mistakes you could have made.
